This document defines communication and describes different types of communication. It defines communication as the exchange of ideas, information, and knowledge between a sender and receiver using a shared symbolic code. Intrapersonal communication occurs within an individual, interpersonal between individuals, organizational within an organization, extrapersonal between humans and non-humans, and mass communication through mass media.
