Oruvellam ,Kettuvellam ,Muttakkar. 
 Kerala state lies along rhe arabian sea 
 Kerala have diversity in landscape ;climate 
worldwide renown for the spices . 
 Vembanad lake is the biggest backwater in kerala. 
 Moer on les half of the area in kuutanad is lying 
below sea level. 
 Most of the houses have small canoes. 
 Transportation of commodities where done using 
kettuvellam. 
 Canoeists who sold the goods were called” 
muttakkar”. 
CONCEPT; KUTTANAD
Learing outcomes ; 
 Pupil acquire the knowledge about kerala. 
 Pupil understand the topography of kuttanad. 
 Pupil identified the water resources of kuttanad. 
 Pupil can able to identify kuttanad from map of kerala. 
 Pupil compare the difference between kuttanad landscape from 
other place of kerala. 
Learing resources : Chart,papercuttings,map 
Pre-requisits ; Pupil have the knowledge about kuttanad

Pupils response 
Teacher start a friendly interaction with the 
students.Teacher ask some questionto the c 
hildren . 
a)How many rivers are in kerala? 
b)Name the rivers which flows through 
eastern part of kerala? 
Teacher shows the chart which has 
included the main rivers flow through 
kuttanad’

Students answer the questions . 
a) 44 river 
b) Kabhani,bhanvani,pamba

3) MEENACHIL

ACTIVITY -2 
Teacher explained that the main problems 
,that are faced the farmers in kuttanad . 
They are: 
1) Monsoon cased to the flood . 
2) Saline water caused to the problem 
of lack of freshwater. 
Follow up the activity ; Collect the 
pictures of kuttanad 
Students understand the problems.
