Phase 1 Orientation to the case 
· Teacher show a documentary which include the natural beauty kuttanad like Vembanattu 
kayal ,rivers etc 
· Teachers shows reports about environmental problems due to develop in kuttanad 
Phase 2 - Review of the facts 
· Hoe the development in kuttanad effect the inhabitants in kuttanad 
· How the development influence the region of the Kuttanad 
· Health issues due to the development 
Phase 3 - Identify the issues merits and demerits 
· In the present day cultivation process is easy compared to previous years . 
· There are modern technologies arrives for making the cultivation easy 
· Transport system is develops due to the development 
· Transport through Kuttanad become easy due to the Alappuzha - Changanasseri road . 
· Modern pump sels arrives government give subsedies for pumbing 
· Due to the chemical fertilizers and pesticides the water was polluted chemical fertilizers and 
pesticides flowed to the backwaters . 
· The soaking of coconut nesk in the backwater area also creating environmental pollution .
Phase 4 - Taking a position 
Teacher ask students that why they take each stance . 
Position 1 - development is very important . the developmental facilities will helps to improve 
the standard of living of kuttanad people .. 
Position 2 - development will case the environmental problems in kuttanad 
Phase 5 Exploring the stance 
Teacher ask students why they favour unfavour the development 
Students : due to development totally change the life of the people in kuttanad 
Teacher : right , it totally effect the life of the people . they 100 mini crops due to the 
new machines in agriculture 
Students : Kuttanad face the pollution problems due to the development. Vembanad lake 
polluted became day by day. 
Teacher : yes , because of the construction of Thannermukkam bund and Thattappalli 
spillway backwaters became stagant and resulting in the number of rivers and sea.
Phase 6 -Refining and qualifiying the position 
Development helps a lot for the progress in Alappuzha .it is possible through the 
The develop in Kuttanad makes a lot of health issues in Kuttanad. 
Testing factual assumption behind the position. 
Kuttanad is the one of the tourist centre in Kerala . so development should be the one that consider 
the needs of the future generation and at the same time preserving the environment. 
Social system - moderate structure

Support system - Newspaper cuttings , pictures etc…..
