LECTURE METHOD
Introduction
The word lecture comes from the Latin word, Lectus which
means to read lecture method is most commonly used method
of teaching science. In lecture method only the teacher talks
and students do not actively participate in this method of
teaching this is teacher controlled and information centered
method.
DEFINITION
Presentation of content by the teacher to
students usually by some type of visual aid
and handouts.

Lecture is a teaching activity where by the
teacher present the content in a comprehensible
manner by explaining, the fact principles and
relationship during which the teacher is expected
to elicit student participation by employing
appropriate Technique.

 Before starting to prepare a lecture the teacher must be

 Last 3 to 5 min duration
 Capture students attention and stimulate their

 It cover the content in a organized way like

 Greatest amount of time should be alloted 20-
30min.

 Decrease students involvement in learning when study
material is readily available and easy to understand
 Keep the students in passive situation provide only
limited participation
 Lecture method do not full fill need of individual
student
 Communication is one way
 Teachers bias seen among students
