LECTURE METHOD
INTRODUCTION
Students have different ways of absorbing information &
demonstrating their knowledge. So teachers often use techniques
which cater to multiple learning styles to help students from retain
,information & strengthen understanding . So the methods accepted
by the teachers must link the teacher & her pupils into an organic
relationship with constant mutual interaction.
DEFINITION
The method of teaching is which approaches most
likely to the method of investigation.

A device implies the external mode or form in which
teaching may takefrom time to time.
Teaching methods is the stimulation
,guidance ,direction,& encouragement for learning.

OBJECTIVES
 Aim at developing love for work.
 Inculcates the desire to do work with maximum efficiency.
 Develops the capacity for clear thinking.
 Provides adequate opportunities for participation.
 Expands students interest.
 Provides opportunities to pupil to apply practically the
knowledge & skill acquired by them.
 General support of the profession.
 Teamwork & sense of security.
 Mastery of the subject matter.
 Provision for a good library & teaching learning material.
 Cooperation of the parents.
Lecture Method
Definition:
“Lecture is a teaching activity where by the teacher
presents the content in a comprehensible manner by
explaining the facts, principles and relationships
during which the teacher is expected to elicit student
participation by employing appropriate techniques.

Lecture method is a oldest method of teaching. It is
based on the philosophy of idealism. Lecture is
generally describe as the a teacher cantered teaching
method involving one-way communication.
PURPOSE
 To provide structured knowledge
 To motivate and guide in hunting their knowledge
 To arouse students interest in a subject
 Introduce students to new areas of learning
 To clarify difficult concept
 To assist in preparing student for discussion
 To promote critical thinking
Physiological Principles Leading To
Effective Learning
 The delivering of the lecture should be in an active mode
 The lecture should think from the point of view of the
student
 The lecture should present the subject matter in
systematic way
 The lecture should use the language which is easily
understandable to each student
 The lecture should ensure continuous attention and
reflection by the learner by posing challenging situation.
Strengths of Lecture
 Providing new information to a large group in a
short period of time
 Contains experience which inspires
 Stimulates thinking to open discussion
 Is useful for covering underlying concepts,
principles, and systems
 May stimulate learner interest in future study
 May be recorded for future use
Advantages
 The teacher is in total control of the classroom.
 It saves time to cover a wider topic.
 It makes a teacher an active participant.
 It provide better opportunity for clarification of
important things
 New knowledge may be presented witch is not yet in the
text books
 The teacher can plan exactly presentation in advance
Disadvantage
 It is teacher centered
 Learners becomes passive recipients
 It encourages one way communication
 Slow learners may miss important points
 Encourages learners to depend on the teacher
 Lecture do not cater individual student needs
 There in no way to know the real reactions of
pupil
 Place of lecture dose not suit all students.

  • 3. INTRODUCTION Students have different ways of absorbing information & demonstrating their knowledge. So teachers often use techniques which cater to multiple learning styles to help students from retain ,information & strengthen understanding . So the methods accepted by the teachers must link the teacher & her pupils into an organic relationship with constant mutual interaction.

DEFINITION The method of teaching is which approaches most likely to the method of investigation. ---BURKE A device implies the external mode or form in which teaching may takefrom time to time. Teaching methods is the stimulation ,guidance ,direction,& encouragement for learning. -----BURTON

OBJECTIVES  Aim at developing love for work.  Inculcates the desire to do work with maximum efficiency.  Develops the capacity for clear thinking.  Provides adequate opportunities for participation.  Expands students interest.  Provides opportunities to pupil to apply practically the knowledge & skill acquired by them.  General support of the profession.  Teamwork & sense of security.  Mastery of the subject matter.  Provision for a good library & teaching learning material.  Cooperation of the parents.

Lecture Method Definition: “Lecture is a teaching activity where by the teacher presents the content in a comprehensible manner by explaining the facts, principles and relationships during which the teacher is expected to elicit student participation by employing appropriate techniques.   • 7. Lecture method is a oldest method of teaching. It is based on the philosophy of idealism. Lecture is generally describe as the a teacher cantered teaching method involving one-way communication.
  • 8. PURPOSE  To provide structured knowledge  To motivate and guide in hunting their knowledge  To arouse students interest in a subject  Introduce students to new areas of learning  To clarify difficult concept  To assist in preparing student for discussion  To promote critical thinking

Physiological Principles Leading To Effective Learning  The delivering of the lecture should be in an active mode  The lecture should think from the point of view of the student  The lecture should present the subject matter in systematic way  The lecture should use the language which is easily understandable to each student  The lecture should ensure continuous attention and reflection by the learner by posing challenging situation.

Strengths of Lecture  Providing new information to a large group in a short period of time  Contains experience which inspires  Stimulates thinking to open discussion  Is useful for covering underlying concepts, principles, and systems  May stimulate learner interest in future study  May be recorded for future use

Advantages  The teacher is in total control of the classroom.  It saves time to cover a wider topic.  It makes a teacher an active participant.  It provide better opportunity for clarification of important things  New knowledge may be presented witch is not yet in the text books  The teacher can plan exactly presentation in advance

Disadvantage  It is teacher centered  Learners becomes passive recipients  It encourages one way communication  Slow learners may miss important points  Encourages learners to depend on the teacher  Lecture do not cater individual student needs  There in no way to know the real reactions of pupil  Place of lecture dose not suit all students.
