How Peer Pressure Is An Act That Should Not Be Taken...
Fitting in with the Ultimate Sacrifice Peer pressure is an act that should not be taken lightly because it
can lead to many bad decision making and psychological damage. Bullying, alcohol drug abuse, sex,
and the desire to fit in are a few leading factors of peer pressure. As one begins elementary or high
school, they are trying to figure out their individuality and form into their mold of themselves. Dealing
with peer pressure as a young child or teenager opens the door to stress, anxiety, or even depression.
These are a few personality dysfunctions that over time may destroy ones social skills and could
possibly cripple the child from living a life of trust and friendship. There are other ways of peer
pressure that can lead into the harmful actions of oneself that will be identified later with the statistics
and data from different articles. First, bullying has formed from not only in the halls of ones schools,
but now follows them home by social media by the click of a button. In the article of The Role of
Classroom Peer Ecology and Bystanders Responses in Bullying in The Functions of Bullying and Peer
Group paragraph it states the following: According to this perspective, bullying often results when the
bully exerts normative social influence that is exacerbated by the bully s popularity and by peers fears
of becoming next victims . Moreover, based on this fact, one could see that a bully performs out of
wanting to show off to his or her peers. In contrast, in the

Earthquake Intensities
Earthquake Intensities
Earthquakes are a marvel of geology. When faults under the surface of the earth move, the ground
moves. These earthquakes can be very mild, barely registering or they can be horrific with far
reaching consequences. Scientists have become fascinated with the study of earthquakes for centuries
but it is only in recent years that quantified data has been collected and analyzed by scientists
regarding these geologic phenomena. Before the invention of the Richter scale, less accurate means of
measuring an earthquake s intensity were used by geological scientists.
Until the early 1900s, earthquakes could only be measured after the earthquake had ended and then
only approximations could be made. The first attempt at scientifically measuring an earthquake s
intensity was performed in the middle of the nineteenth century. In Italy in 1857, the after effects of an
earthquake were quantified (Lutgen 2011, page 179). A map was created to show the comparable
damages that were found in different areas. This allowed geographers to make maps which would
show the areas of highest intensity and how intensity lessened in surrounding areas. Although this was
helpful, it only showed comparative intensities, not quantified data.
In 1902, Giuseppe Mercalli developed what was called the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale. An
American version of the Mercalli system was incorporated in 1931. This system judged intensity of
earthquakes based upon the ways California

1.0 Report Background
Marketing of any product is an art. In this current world marketing is stands with a very important role
for launching a new product. Marketing a product is becoming very difficult and definitely so tuft.
Because in launching a product, first of all the main problem is the competitors of that particular
product. If the functions of marketing are right than the product can be marketed successfully. In the
current world 85% of new product failed to build its image. Because definitely there is some mistakes

So a lot of companies are coming here. But the others beverage companies are failed to target the right
market and reach them. Sometimes they failed to give them the appropriate massage. So we have
selected our target customer group and make our marketing strategy. Here we have discussed our
target group and marketing plan.
In the market the apple milk shake is very new product. Particularly in our country we have limited
milk shake and lots of dirking juice and so one. But we do not have any milk shake like this. It can
also be consider as a drinking juice. Though it is a very new product but it has a big demand in the
market. Because those drinks have no neutrality and all of them are made of different chimerical.
Those drinks are made with chemical and the flavor of that particular food item. When the customer
will get the knowledge about the product, which is cent percent natural and the juice/ milk shake
contain the originality and the flavor; the customer will go for it. I believe in reality, and we want to
serve the nation. We are spoiling our environment and we serve the nation almost the dusty thing. We
do not have any right to do this ridicules thing with our people. That s why I want to contribute myself

Effects Of Binge Drinking On College Grounds
Introduction According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, binge drinking is
defined as the consumption of five or more drinks for males and four or more drinks for females
consecutively in the same day, within a two hour period. Problem drinking seems to be a phenomenon
highly present amongst the college age population. However, not a lot of focus has been given to the
negative impacts that come along with binge drinking on college grounds. Having encountered
multiple clients reporting problems with alcohol consumption while in college sparked an interest in
working with this population in order to have a broader understanding of what should be a major
concern. It is no secret that binge drinking is present amongst college aged students. However, data
collected by Kelly Weeder (2010), supports that this binge drinking is specifically present on college
grounds. More specifically, binge drinking is even more prevalent amongst college students across
campuses in the United States; being identified as a major public health concern (Johnston, O Malley,
Bachman, Schulenberg, 2013). To a greater extent, although binge drinking does not seem to
discriminate amongst genders, it seems to affect more college aged males than females as they
reported more reoccurring episodes (Kelly Weeder, 2010). Literature supports, that this major health
concern can be correlated with low various negative outcomes that include poor academic
performance, risky sexual

The Positive Effects of Participating in Running
In today s inactive society many people struggle with obesity. No one can put a price tag on life.
People today need to reevaluate where their priorities stand. The downward spiral for health issues and
obesity will continues to get worse, unless everyone takes action to their lives! Opportunities in today
s society show endless ways to get back into shape. Starting the activity of running will change one s
life for the better. The positive benefits of participating in running include experiencing a fun activity,
many health benefits, a low cost sport, and sponsoring charity organizations. When starting to get into
shape many people dread the thought of exercising. While getting in shape anyone can experience fun
and fulfillment. The task of getting in shape will change one s life for the better. When running anyone
can experience a good time. Running does more than help improve your physical and mental health
(Delorez and Hanc 16). Running allows anyone to develop into a healthier person. When running one
can run with a partner or a group of people. Physically running with someone creates bonding,
companionship and competition. Training with someone for a race also provides and creates a positive
mindset. A good fit for a running companion should consist of the same positive thinking and the same
goals and inspirations (Barrios 128). Socializing while running can lead to many positive benefits to

The Battle Of Dien Bien Phu
Vietnam Timeline 04/24/2016
Sarah Dustagheer
Period 4
Battle of Dien Bien Phu (1954)
The Battle of Bien Dien Phu was the first crucial engagement in the first Indochina War. It took place
in March 13, 1954 May 7, 1954. This battle was a symbolic turning point in Indochina. The Battle of
Dien Bien Phu was fought between French forces and the Viet Minh communists. The French wanted
to convert Vietnam as one of their colonies, but on the other hand, Vietnam wanted their
independence. After the French forces took over the Dien Bien Phu valley in late 1953, Viet Minh
commander, Vo Nguyen, deported and placed heavy artillery. The Viet Minh soldiers set up the
artillery in caves of mountains overlooking the French camp, to break the French lines. When the
French were defeated, there was a formal negotiation.
Geneva Accords
(1954)
The Geneva Conference of 1954 was a meeting between many countries that agreed to end hostilities
and restore peace in French Indochina and Korea. It was signed by France and North Vietnam. This
produced a set of treaties called Geneva Accords. The Geneva Accords organized a settlement which
brought an end to the first Indochina War. This agreement was reached at the end of the Geneva
Conference. These agreements temporarily separated Vietnam into two zones, a northern zone to be
governed by the Viet Minh, and a southern zone to be governed by the state of Vietnam. A

Fishing Is Fishing
Fishing had never been a hobby until I considered until this past summer. Fishing has an importance
that goes way back since my great grandpa back in Mexico. My great grandpa used to take my father
fishing to a nearby lake near their home where they would spend hours fishing for that night s dinner.
As a kid, I remember my family would take trips to the lake or rivers to have a family gathering and a
carne asada. This is where my uncles and grandpa would fish, but at the time playing soccer with my
cousins was more exciting. When I turned 13, my grandpa invited me to go fishing to Lake Buena
Vista that Saturday morning. I immediately thought tedious but decided to open up and try a new
activity and at the end of the day, I would have a story to tell my friends. Once at the lake, I asked my
grandpa, What is so cool about fishing and he responded, It s not about catching fish, it is about
relaxing and being away from everything and enjoying nature. Anyone can go to the market to buy a
fish, but can they have the patience to battle one and reel it in? . As the day progressed we caught a
couple of catfish which my grandpa took home and made soup with. Although that day I enjoyed
myself I also found out fishing was not my hobby. Fishing is for those who have patience and don t
dread being in the sun all day. Flash forwarding to this past summer, my friend Froilan wanted to go
fishing after he saw some YouTube videos about fishing. After he told me we should go fishing to do

It Is I, Donato Bramante
It is I, Donato Bramante. Through mysterious circumstances that I cannot yet explain, I have
somehow managed to travel into the future. I am told it is the year 2015, and I am in the land that the
man named Columbus recently discovered! It is said this land is called Washington . Last thing I
knew, it was the year 1514, and I was a sickly man in Rome. I m feeling much better now. Luckily
there is a magnificent building right down the road from me called the United States Capitol Building.
I feel like I am back at home in Rome when I see such a building! The people of this strange land say
this building houses the government of their country. I find this hard to believe. A building as large,
and as grand as this should be a home of God, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These columns are known as the Corinthian Order. My plan for St. Peter s called for these same
columns to circle the largest dome of the basilica. The Capitol Building pulls this same strategy off
perfectly! Surely, the architects of the building known as William Thorton, Benjamin Henry Latrobe,
and Charles Bulfinch (SOURCE), must have drew upon my plan of St. Peter s for inspiration. I am not
sure if they knew this or not, but I also used classical columns on another masterpiece of mine that is
known as the Tempietto at San Pietro in Montorio (SOURCE). Unlike at St. Peter s, at the Tempietto I
used the Doric order of columns (SOURCE). I find both orders to be great outlets of my artistic
abilities, and both pleasing to the eye. Besides the columns, another feature of the Capitol Building
that I have marvelous is the beautiful, gigantic, dome in the center. I used a dome structure on both of
my famous works that I mentioned before, namely my plan for St. Peters, and the Tempietto at San
Pietro in Montorio (SOURCE). I would say, however, that the dome on the Capitol is much larger
(SOURCE)! Especially compared to that of my Tempietto. It must have taken master craftsmen many
years to complete such a feat in architecture and engineering (SOURCE). While I do find the dome to
be a great work, I think it may be a little too different from the great domes of my work. Compared to
my dome of St. Peters, the Capitol s dome seems to

Sociological Concepts
The study of societies throughout the world at different periods in history is important to
understanding human behaviors. Even though most sociological studies are conducted on broad topics
such as crime, poverty, gender, and ethnicity it is important to consider specific events that occur.
These events provide examples and evidence towards concepts and theories that are developed to
explain why people act a certain way in society. In the world today there are several issues and events
that relate to sociological concepts and theories. The Middle East recently has been an area of radical
behavior conducted by a terrorist group called the Islamic State. Looking into the actions and events
of this terror group we can understand the sociological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are using the social media as a source of producing a massive audience to their atrocities. This is
also a tool for recruiting people who feel insignificant within their society. There have been several
documented individuals traveling to Syria to join the Islamic State with the motivational purpose of
being a part of something significant. This is something that confuses people who are watching them
leave because they did not seem to be radicalized. Analyzing these events while they are happening in
real time has been fascinating and educational because the actions are seen from a different
perspective. The Islamic State has proven that the use of social and mass media are effective means to
influence people into curiosity. That curiosity is then exploited by radicalization to perform the
horrific actions this society thrives on. What if they lost their audience? Would they still be as
effective at recruiting? These are the questions that could develop solutions to the largest global threat
today and create new sociological concepts and theories in the

And of the software: Machine Code, Microcode and Operating System, those ethereal intangible
electron flows, those bits and bytes of binary control data that breath life into those hardware

A human drama
Certainly it tells us the story of high tech industry and it s products. It tells us the story of the hoards of
engineers and marketing men that built and sold to the these new machines to the world from
enormously powerful computer vendor companies of the ilk of IBM and DEC, those huge
conglomerates that once dominated the world of computing around twenty or thirty years ago.
The quotes above and those similar however, begin to lead the reader towards another far less obvious,
perhaps even subliminal, moral that underlies this tale, and this is a very human tale that encompasses
those individual stories that more often than not remain hidden in the noise. Kidder paints for us a
vivid picture of U.S. corporate dynamics in the world of high tech, but once this background scene is
set, he then begins to assemble against it the individual characters who will play out this human
drama.
I m a little suspicious of the great, overarching view. It always leaves something out, says Kidder.
What interests me is trying to catch the reflection of the human being on the page. I m interested in
how ordinary people live their lives.
The story is about team work, about the

Ssg Arroa s Squad At Fort Indiantown Gap
SSG Arroa s squad moved cautiously down the path that the Sergeant had marked to the main gate at
Fort Indiantown Gap. The rest of the first platoon had held back as well as the company to provide
cover for the advancing squad. SSG Arroa had cleared about a hundred yards past the main gain
without any problems. They encountered no resistance, but several booby traps, which they disabled.
Their orders were that once they were able to breach the main gate, they were to begin to remove the
barricades, which consisted of everything but the kitchen sink, several cars that had been pushed into
the front of the gate, chairs, benches, large rocks, mounds of dirt, and a couple of desks. SSG Arroa
sent Corporal Reyes to his Platoon Sergeant and told him to send more men to help clear the
barricade. There was no way he could provide security for him and his men as well as move
everything out of the way. SFC Dittmyer was the Platoon Sergeant; the man was not a great thinker

platoon didn t move was lost on SSG Arroa. Once they had cleared the gate everyone was supposed to
move through it so why wait. However, SSG Arroa knew it wasn t his job to wonder why the Army

Cause And Effect On Foodborne Illness
Food borne Illnesses
Foodborne illness, also foodborne disease and conversationally referred to as food poisoning is any
illness resulting from the food spoilage of contaminated food, pathogenic bacteria, viruses, or
parasites that contaminate food, as well as toxins such as poisonous mushrooms and various species of
beans that have not been boiled for at least 10 minutes.
Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that each year 48 million people get sick from a
foodborne illness, 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die. Many different disease causing germs can
contaminate foods, so there are many different foodborne infections.
The Movement of People, Food, And Manufactured Goods
In the trend of globalization people, food and goods are being transported from on country to the other
for merchandizing and business purpose. While this transportation is being globally practiced, a high
sense of risk is involved whereby the food supplies raises questions about safety standards for food
production and processing. Many other countries, especially developing ones (where much of the new
food imports originate), do not possess the same health and sanitary safeguards that some developed
countries have. This raises the potential for the transmission of goods infected with pathogenic

Discourse Community Analysis
In his article The Concept of Discourse Community, Professor John Swales defines what a discourse
community is, following with a list of six different points that a group must align with in order to
qualify as a discourse community. These parameters are as follows: a broadly agreed set of common
public goals, mechanisms of intercommunication among its members, the use of participatory
mechanisms primarily to provide information and feedback , use or possession of one or more genres
in the communicative furtherance of its aims , some specific lexis , and a threshold level of members
with a suitable degree of relevant content and discoursal expertise (471 473).
After identifying and describing the six points of criteria for qualification, Swales writes that even if
just one attribute is missing, it may still be enough to prevent the formation of a discourse community
(469). Keeping this in mind, it is important to identify all six points when trying to prove the existence
of a discourse community. Due to the presence of all six attributes, I am a part of a discourse
community myself. During the summer months, I work as a lifeguard at Avalon Summer Sports Club,

The Titular Character Of William Shakespeare s Richard IIi
The titular character in Shakespeare s Richard III is a man whose body has been weakened and
warped by nature, and so must rely on his wit and cleverness to survive. Throughout the play, Richard
uses wordplay and persuasive language to convince others to support him or at least cease working
against him. Overall, Richard believes that his ability to use language makes him superior to others in
the courts of London, as is evident in the following selection: Was ever woman in this humour
wooed?/Was ever woman in this humour won? (Shakespeare 1.2.230 231). Richard perceives himself
as being capable of feats previously thought impossible due to his supposedly excellent understanding
of rhetoric and discourse. Richard of Gloucester is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The response that one of these murderers gives to Richard is extremely telling, however. He states that
Talkers are no good doers; be assured/We go to use our hands and not our tongues (1.3.349 351.)
These men have no desire to speak to Clarence, as such a conversation would only get in the way of
their work. If anything is to be accomplished, they must focus on using the strength of their arm rather
than that of their words. The men ultimately do choose to have a dialogue with Clarence due to the
prodding of their consciences, and so completely ignore Richard s warnings about speaking to
Clarence (1.4.159). Clarence does attempt to convince these assassins of his innocence, stating that the
king sends you not to murder me for this, for in that sin he is as deep as I (1.4.212 213). Clarence is
arguing that the king would be wrong for executing him for the sins of battle, as the king would be as
much as fault in that regard as Clarence is. The murderers give a curt denial, stating the following:
Relent? No. Tis cowardly and womanish (1.4.261). The man who states the previous line, and slays
Clarence, never intended to change his mind. Neither Richard nor Clarence s words influenced the
decisions of these murderers, who were only motivated by coin (1.4.123 124). When Anne and

Piecing It All Together By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Kyle McKeehan Ms. Davis English IV 20 February 2015 Piecing It All Together Sir Arthur Conan
Doyle, a failing physician, created an iconic fictional detective named Sherlock Holmes in 1887 with
the novel A Study in Scarlet. Sherlock Holmes is one of the most well known literary characters of all
time and that is why even until this day the character has kept our attention in pop culture and
entertainment. Holmes was praised for his attention to detail when in fact he may have had Aspergers

well as his state of the art methods. Doyle was born on May 22, 1859 to his parents Charles Altamont
Doyle and Mary Foley Doyle. They lived in Edinburgh, Scotland after moving from London in hopes
of furthering Charles career and were a strict Irish Catholic family. His father, Charles, was an
architect, but he became a depressed alcoholic for most of his life and was institutionalized multiple
times while Doyle was a child. His mother, Mary, being the only stable parent he had became a huge
part of his life. She was well educated for the time and would read to Arthur all the time. His favorite
books to read as a child were wild west themed novels and his favorite was The Scalp Hunters written
by Thomas Mayne Reid in 1851. When he was nine his parents sent him to a England to attend a

Plants have different leaf sizes, colors, and shapes to adapt to the conditions of different environments,
such as the arid zone, the tropical zone, and the arid zone. The arid zone has hot, dry summers and

also long periods of time without water. Rainfall varies from year to year, and the distribution of

and a thick layer of leaf litter accumulates. Sufficient moisture in the temperate zone supports the
growth of large trees, but the trees in the temperate zone are not as tall and diverse as the trees in the

height of 70 meters; southern temperate areas contain deciduous trees, with an average height of 18

The Pearl Symbolism Essay
The short novel The Pearl by John Steinbeck is based on an old folktale and is about a man named
Kino, his wife named Juana, their baby named Coyotito, and the struggle they face when Kino finds
the pearl of the world. Steinbeck shows that materialism and greed, left unchecked, can lead to
immoral behavior through the characters of the town doctor, Kino, and the three attackers. Steinbeck
uses the doctor as a symbol to represent the materialism and greed, left unchecked, can lead to
immoral behavior. This seen when the town doctor refuses to treat the dying Coyotito. The narrator
states, Have I nothing better to do then cure insect bites for little Indians ? I am a doctor not a
veterinarian. ( ?). This shows that the doctor is too greedy to treat the baby because he knows they
have no money to pay for it. He is a doctor and should be willing to help someone, payment or no
payment. Another time the doctor becomes a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He shows this when Juana is trying to throw the pearl back but Kino beats her. The narrator states, Her
arm was up to throw when he leaped at her and caught her arm and wrenched the pearl from her. He
struck her in the face with his clenched fist and she fell among the boulders, and he kicked her in her
side. ( ?) Here Kino beats up his wife in order to save a pearl that was tearing his family apart. He no
longer cares about who he hurts or what he hurts just that he gets what he is after. Another example of
Kino s greed is when is going to sell the pearl. Kino declines an offer from a pearl buyer, not because
he knows the pearl is more valuable but because he wants more money, more things, more
opportunities, and is he not willing to give that up under any circumstances. All of these show that
being greedy can put us in unwanted situations that could have been

The Consequences Of The True Self In The Scarlet Letter By...
Do you act differently around certain people? Are your actions different because you want to impress
a girl, the popular kids, or your teacher you want a letter of recommendation from? All around the
world, people try to disguise their true self, just so they can fit in and be someone they are not. In The
Scarlet Letter, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale had been living behind a mask for seven excruciating
years, as he remained unwilling to face the repercussions of society for his adulterous affair with
Hester Prynne. If Dimmesdale was his honest and true self, he would have escaped death. While the
epic is exaggerated through paranormal and supernatural occurrences, many of the punishments
inflicted and morals questioned are quite topical today. Nathaniel Hawthorne encourages the readers
to show freely to the world , no matter how daunting that personality may be (410). Reverend Arthur
Dimmesdale s downfall affirms the damaging effects of falsifying one s disposition in The Scarlet
Letter and today s society.
Hawthorne is right when he says that facades are abominable. While returning from his forest meeting
with Hester Prynne, Dimmesdale begins to self reflect as he walks back, prompting the narrator to say,
No man for any considerable period can wear one face to himself and another to the multitude,
without finally getting bewildered as to which may be the true (Hawthorne 340). Dimmesdale has
been torn apart from the inside from his guilt of hiding his sin for the past seven

Germany Aggression In Europe Stoked Fear Of War
According to the article, Germany Aggression in Europe stoked Fears of War, it stated that on March
15, 1939, Nazi Germany invaded Czechoslovakia, breaking the agreement it had signed with Great
Britain and France the year before in Munich, Germany. The invasion jolted British and French
leaders and convinced them that Adolf Hitler, the German chancellor, could not be trusted to honor his
agreements and was likely to keep committing aggressions until stopped by force or a massive
deterrent.
In the previous year, Hitler had annexed Austria and had taken the Sudetenland region of
Czechoslovakia; in March 1939, his tanks rolled into the rest of Czechoslovakia. It appeared that he

With German fulfillment, the Soviet Union also moved to secure its sphere of interest in eastern
Europe in the summer of 1940. The Soviet occupied the Baltic states and seized the Romanian
provinces of northern Bukovina and Bessarabia. After the Germans defeated France in June 1940,
German diplomats worked to secure Germany s ties in southeastern Europe. Hungary, Romania, and
Slovakia all joined the Axis alliance in November 1940. During the spring of 1941, Hitler initiated his
eastern European allies into plans to invade the Soviet Union. Hitler had always regarded the German
Soviet nonaggression pact as a tactical and temporary move. On December 18, 1940, he signed
Operation Barbarossa, its code name is Directive 21 , the first operational order for the invasion of the

Hypothyroidism Essay
Hypothyroidism is an affliction that results from the disruption of the effectiveness of the thyroid
gland and its hormone secretion. According to Cabello and Wrutnia (1989), the thyroid is key in
affecting growth hormone (GH), and in turn, body growth as a whole. As a part of the endocrine
system, the thyroid gland is responsive to the pituitary gland through the delivery of thyroid
stimulating hormone (TSH), and the pituitary gland is responsive to the hypothalamus s messenger,
thyroid regulating hormone (TRH). When cells called thyroid gland follicles are underactive, both
growth and overall development can be affected. Additionally, removal of the pituitary has been a
method employed by endocrinologists to induce hypothyroidism. A clinical case described by Nussey
and Whitehead (2001) revealed symptoms often associated with hypothyroidism, including a
disruption of mental processes, gut motility, metabolic rate and the skeleton . ... Show more content on

T4 is made into its active form, triidothyronine (T3) when acted upon by an iodine removing enzyme,

levels are linked to transient newborn hypothyroidism, which can impede growth dramatically. Still,
other researchers have shown that propylthiouracil (PTU) prevents the transformation of T4 into
active T3 (Geffner et al, 1975), disrupting its permissive effects. Clearly, hypothyroidism can be
brought upon an individual by a variety of methods, many of which can be demonstrated in a

Essay on Henry Ford
INTRODUCTION
When you think about Ford, an automobile will usually come to mind. Most people don t think about
the man behind that name, Henry Ford. Henry Ford was the man responsible for the Ford Motor
Company (FMC). He was also the creator of the invention that changed the mass production industry,
the assembly line. As you read on you will learn about Henry Ford s life, the FMC, and the assembly
line.
FORD S LIFE
In Wayne County, Michigan on July 30, 1863, a pair of Irish immigrants, William and Mary Ford,
gave birth to a boy who they named Henry. They owned a farm in Dearborn, Michigan where Henry
helped his parents and attended a one room schoolhouse. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The automobile didn t look like much with a carriage body and a lever for steering. This car was what
got Ford started on the way toward the automotive industry.1
Ford only had one son, who was president for the Ford Company from 1819 to 1943 when Edsel, died.
Henry had to take over presidency for two years until he gave his position to his grandson, Henry Ford
the II. After living for 83 years Henry Ford passed away on April 7, 1947, at his home in Dearborn,
Michigan.3
FORD MOTOR COMPANY
In 1903 the Ford Motor Company was incorporated after two unsuccessful attempts. Henry Ford was
the vice president and the chief engineer. The company started out only making a few cars a day at the
Ford factory, with two or three men working on a car at a time and having to use parts made to order
from other companies.2
Ford s dream was to produce a moderate priced, reliable, and efficient automobile, which came with
the Model T in 1908.3 A company that started out small, now had over half of the car owners in
America driving the Model T.1 It was easy to operate and maintain, it also handled good on rough
roads. It was the most popular automobile in history, and over fifteen million were sold. With the
Model T, Ford achieved his goal to make reasonable priced cars for the average person. 2
The reason he could make cars for decent prices was that the FMC owned its own steel mill and iron
mine, and could make its own parts.

The Bible Is An Important Aspect Of Our Christian Lives
Studying the Bible is an important aspect of our Christian lives. The Bible is the flawless and inerrant
word of God. He spoke through the chosen authors the words of the Bible. Through the Scriptures,
God reveals his character and revelation. The Bible has authority since it is ultimately from God. The
Bible is the inerrant and inspired word of God that holds authority.
The Bible has the power to give commands and demand obedience. This authority is both inherent and
given by God. God is the highest authority and He is his own authority, for there is nothing outside
him on which his authority is founded (Elwell, 154). The Bible is God s Word and He reveals himself
and His authority through Scripture. The Bible appoints its own authority by claiming to be from God
and containing the words of God. The authority of the Bible is established by its own claims. It is the
word of God. (Elwell, 154).
Biblical inspiration is a supernatural influence of the Holy Spirit upon divinely chosen agents in
consequence of which their writings become trustworthy and authoritative (Elwell, 160). In other
words, the Holy Spirit inspired and was involved with the writings of the Bible. Paul speaks of
inspiration when He writes to Timothy, All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching,
rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16, NIV). Scripture is the Word of
God and the Holy Spirit used these chosen authors to write the words and message of God.

The Goal Of Education And The Goals Of Public Education
The goals of public education revolve around three main areas that include; the political goals of
schooling, the social goals of schooling, and the economic goals of schooling. These goals were
placed with the idea that all children should receive public education whether you were poor or rich
and schools focused on teaching about political views and the law to avoid conflicts. Schools were the
focus of many hopes for political, social, and economic improvement.
A persistent educational goal of school was to give everyone the same chance to pursue wealth, which
is known as equality of opportunity. Equality of opportunity is the idea that individuals compete with
one another with all participants starting at the same point, which Horace Mann referred to as the,
great balance wheel of society (Spring, 2016, p. 66). Schools provide everyone with an equal
opportunity to pursue an education and wealth; however, I believe there are factors that alter that
equilibrium. Mann believed that equality of opportunity would reduce tensions between the rich and
the poor. It allowed the poor to believe that regardless of their circumstance their children had an
equal chance to compete with children of rich families (Spring, 2016 p. 67). However, there are
factors that will contribute to your opportunity to succeed, but schools give students the opportunity to
all start on the same path that end in different destinations.
The debate about equality of opportunity is centered on three

Brief Summary Of Chapter 1 Of Mccloud
In the beginning of chapter one, McCloud starts of by narrating through one of his flashbacks when he
first started to read comic books. At first McCloud was in denial of what comics can truly mean, but as
he began to read he was hooked. The main character is drawn as younger version of himself with stars
and thick lines around his head with a surprise looked towards the comic he is reading. Throughout
the next panels he draws himself with an astonishing look in his face because he found something he
can fully understand. Before he can continue his memory McCloud s cuts in the middle of the
flashback and he s back to his normal version saying, I felt there was something lurking in comics...
something that had never been done. Some kind of hidden power! (McCloud 3). McCloud is trying to

The younger version of McCloud was drawn with clean lines, holding a notebook, and a look in his
face with confusion. The author uses these panels to convince the audience about his credibility
towards comics. Since the author experience stereotypes, he shows credibility towards his evidence
because he is telling the truth about comics being serious. He also used these panels to make some
stereotypes of himself, when we see a bully we always imagine a big tough guy making fun of the
nerdy looking kid. He uses this stereotype to make the audience see that we can become that jerk that
makes fun of comics by not taking other people s opinions seriously. Comics should be taken serious
because we are the younger version of McCloud we have not fully understood what comics are, but
through the visuals McCloud makes strong claims that comics can give you something more that

Analysis of Style and Theme in Works by Ernest Hemingway

asserting himself. The environment also attacks his assertion because it is very hilly and densely
forested so it is tricky to kill a kudu (Benson 291).
In Sun, Jake Barnes would like to assert himself by having sex with Brett. Half of the procreation
process involves the male and for males, having sex is a sign of masculinity. One thing though attacks
his assertion of maleness, his impotence. Because of this, he fears that he will fail in courting Brett,
which leads to his failure of asserting his masculinity. Fears of failure, of incompetence, and of failing
masculine prowess are expressed through Harry in Snows (Benson 291). Harry s incompetence and
fear of failure are shown in the following excerpt when he is talking about his writing, Now he would

would not have to fail at trying to write them either. His fear of masculine prowess is expressed on

Evolving Science Thomas Kuhn Analysis
Evolving Science In the fast past world we live in it is evident that technology is ever changing and
ever growing. The same can be said in regard to developments in science. Intelligent Design is defined
by Funk Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, as the idea that, because of the complexity of certain
features of nature, an intelligent designer must have played a role in the development of life.
Evolution on the other hand, proposes that living things evolved over time. Edward O. Wilson (2012)
states, Many who accept the fact of evolution cannot, however, on religious grounds, accept the
operation of blind chance and the absence of divine purpose implicit in natural selection. They support
the alternative explanation of intelligent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kuhn defines normal science as research firmly based upon one or more past scientific achievements
achieves that some particular scientific community acknowledges for a time as supplying the
foundation for its further practice. He later referred to achievements sharing these two characteristics
as paradigms . Bawazer s discussion very well could be the dawning of a new scientific paradigm as
discussed by Kuhn is his essay. Kuhn goes on to state, Men whose research is based on shared
paradigms are committed to the same rules and standards for scientific practice. That commitment and
the apparent consensus it produces are prerequisites for normal science, i.e., for the genesis and
continuation of a particular research tradition (900). Clearly, the research studies Luke Bawazer s has
conducted could definitely qualify as a new scientific paradigm discussed by Kuhn. Other examples
that may qualify as new scientific paradigm are highlighted in Bawazer s Tedtalk video such as the
work of Joe Davis and colleagues, who inserted the gene into bacteria to produce a functioning
bacteria radio. Another example of this type of technology highlighted in the video by Angela Belcher,
shows that viruses can be used to build batteries and solar cells. No doubt, this definitely the dawning
of a new scientific

Essay On Starve Or Kill A Lifeboat
To Starve or Kill in a Lifeboat Webster s dictionary defines utilitarianism as a doctrine that the useful
is the good and that the determining consideration of right conduct should be the usefulness of its
consequences (Merriam Webster). This doctrine is used in cases when trying to decide whether an
issue is morally acceptable or not. In the case of the sailors stranded in a lifeboat at sea, the question
raised is whether or not the men were morally corrupt by killing the cabin boy. There are two basic
approaches used to determine the outcome of this case. The first has to do with deciding if the benefits
of killing a person outweigh the costs (Sandel 32). The second approach says that consequences are
not the only factor to consider because some moral duties and rights are more important (Sandel 33).
Suppose you were the judge, assume that you were asked to decide whether killing the cabin boy was
morally permissible, how would you rule (Sandel 32)? Four English sailors became stranded at sea
and were stuck in a lifeboat for 24 days. The youngest of the four, named Parker, was only seventeen.
He was an orphan who had become a cabin boy. He became ill when he drank seawater and began to
show signs of death (Sandel 31). On the twentieth day one of the men decided that the cabin boy had
to be killed. They ate his body and blood until a rescue boat arrived days later. The men were arrested
and charged with murder. The conflict arouse when the decision had

Fitting in with the Ultimate Sacrifice Peer pressure is an act that should not be taken lightly because it can lead to many bad decision making and psychological damage. Bullying, alcohol drug abuse, sex, and the desire to fit in are a few leading factors of peer pressure. As one begins elementary or high school, they are trying to figure out their individuality and form into their mold of themselves. Dealing with peer pressure as a young child or teenager opens the door to stress, anxiety, or even depression. These are a few personality dysfunctions that over time may destroy ones social skills and could possibly cripple the child from living a life of trust and friendship. There are other ways of peer pressure that can lead into the harmful actions of oneself that will be identified later with the statistics and data from different articles. First, bullying has formed from not only in the halls of ones schools, but now follows them home by social media by the click of a button. In the article of The Role of Classroom Peer Ecology and Bystanders Responses in Bullying in The Functions of Bullying and Peer Group paragraph it states the following: According to this perspective, bullying often results when the bully exerts normative social influence that is exacerbated by the bully s popularity and by peers fears of becoming next victims . • 5. Earthquake Intensities Earthquake Intensities Earthquakes are a marvel of geology. When faults under the surface of the earth move, the ground moves. These earthquakes can be very mild, barely registering or they can be horrific with far reaching consequences. Scientists have become fascinated with the study of earthquakes for centuries but it is only in recent years that quantified data has been collected and analyzed by scientists regarding these geologic phenomena. Before the invention of the Richter scale, less accurate means of measuring an earthquake s intensity were used by geological scientists. Until the early 1900s, earthquakes could only be measured after the earthquake had ended and then only approximations could be made. The first attempt at scientifically measuring an earthquake s intensity was performed in the middle of the nineteenth century. In Italy in 1857, the after effects of an earthquake were quantified (Lutgen 2011, page 179). A map was created to show the comparable damages that were found in different areas. This allowed geographers to make maps which would show the areas of highest intensity and how intensity lessened in surrounding areas. Although this was helpful, it only showed comparative intensities, not quantified data. In 1902, Giuseppe Mercalli developed what was called the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale. An American version of the Mercalli system was incorporated in 1931. This system judged intensity of earthquakes based upon the ways California ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Effects Of Binge Drinking On College Grounds Introduction According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, binge drinking is defined as the consumption of five or more drinks for males and four or more drinks for females consecutively in the same day, within a two hour period. Problem drinking seems to be a phenomenon highly present amongst the college age population. However, not a lot of focus has been given to the negative impacts that come along with binge drinking on college grounds. Having encountered multiple clients reporting problems with alcohol consumption while in college sparked an interest in working with this population in order to have a broader understanding of what should be a major concern. It is no secret that binge drinking is present amongst college aged students. However, data collected by Kelly Weeder (2010), supports that this binge drinking is specifically present on college grounds. More specifically, binge drinking is even more prevalent amongst college students across campuses in the United States; being identified as a major public health concern (Johnston, O Malley, Bachman, Schulenberg, 2013). To a greater extent, although binge drinking does not seem to discriminate amongst genders, it seems to affect more college aged males than females as they reported more reoccurring episodes (Kelly Weeder, 2010). Literature supports, that this major health concern can be correlated with low various negative outcomes that include poor academic performance, risky sexual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Battle Of Dien Bien Phu Vietnam Timeline 04/24/2016 Sarah Dustagheer Period 4 Battle of Dien Bien Phu (1954) The Battle of Bien Dien Phu was the first crucial engagement in the first Indochina War. It took place in March 13, 1954 May 7, 1954. This battle was a symbolic turning point in Indochina. The Battle of Dien Bien Phu was fought between French forces and the Viet Minh communists. The French wanted to convert Vietnam as one of their colonies, but on the other hand, Vietnam wanted their independence. After the French forces took over the Dien Bien Phu valley in late 1953, Viet Minh commander, Vo Nguyen, deported and placed heavy artillery. The Viet Minh soldiers set up the artillery in caves of mountains overlooking the French camp, to break the French lines. When the French were defeated, there was a formal negotiation. Geneva Accords (1954) The Geneva Conference of 1954 was a meeting between many countries that agreed to end hostilities and restore peace in French Indochina and Korea. • 12. Fishing Is Fishing Fishing had never been a hobby until I considered until this past summer. Fishing has an importance that goes way back since my great grandpa back in Mexico. My great grandpa used to take my father fishing to a nearby lake near their home where they would spend hours fishing for that night s dinner. As a kid, I remember my family would take trips to the lake or rivers to have a family gathering and a carne asada. This is where my uncles and grandpa would fish, but at the time playing soccer with my cousins was more exciting. When I turned 13, my grandpa invited me to go fishing to Lake Buena Vista that Saturday morning. I immediately thought tedious but decided to open up and try a new activity and at the end of the day, I would have a story to tell my friends. Once at the lake, I asked my grandpa, What is so cool about fishing and he responded, It s not about catching fish, it is about relaxing and being away from everything and enjoying nature. Anyone can go to the market to buy a fish, but can they have the patience to battle one and reel it in? . As the day progressed we caught a couple of catfish which my grandpa took home and made soup with. Although that day I enjoyed myself I also found out fishing was not my hobby. Fishing is for those who have patience and don t dread being in the sun all day. Flash forwarding to this past summer, my friend Froilan wanted to go fishing after he saw some YouTube videos about fishing. After he told me we should go fishing to do ... I am told it is the year 2015, and I am in the land that the man named Columbus recently discovered! It is said this land is called Washington . Last thing I knew, it was the year 1514, and I was a sickly man in Rome. I m feeling much better now. Luckily there is a magnificent building right down the road from me called the United States Capitol Building. I feel like I am back at home in Rome when I see such a building! Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These columns are known as the Corinthian Order. My plan for St. Peter s called for these same columns to circle the largest dome of the basilica. The Capitol Building pulls this same strategy off perfectly! Surely, the architects of the building known as William Thorton, Benjamin Henry Latrobe, and Charles Bulfinch (SOURCE), must have drew upon my plan of St. Peter s for inspiration. I am not sure if they knew this or not, but I also used classical columns on another masterpiece of mine that is known as the Tempietto at San Pietro in Montorio (SOURCE). Unlike at St. Peter s, at the Tempietto I used the Doric order of columns (SOURCE). I find both orders to be great outlets of my artistic abilities, and both pleasing to the eye. Besides the columns, another feature of the Capitol Building that I have marvelous is the beautiful, gigantic, dome in the center. I used a dome structure on both of my famous works that I mentioned before, namely my plan for St. Peters, and the Tempietto at San Pietro in Montorio (SOURCE). I would say, however, that the dome on the Capitol is much larger (SOURCE)! Especially compared to that of my Tempietto. It must have taken master craftsmen many years to complete such a feat in architecture and engineering (SOURCE). While I do find the dome to be a great work, I think it may be a little too different from the great domes of my work. Compared to my dome of St. Peters, the Capitol s dome seems to ... Even though most sociological studies are conducted on broad topics such as crime, poverty, gender, and ethnicity it is important to consider specific events that occur. The Islamic State has proven that the use of social and mass media are effective means to influence people into curiosity. Kidder paints for us a vivid picture of U.S. corporate dynamics in the world of high tech, but once this background scene is set, he then begins to assemble against it the individual characters who will play out this human drama. I m a little suspicious of the great, overarching view. It always leaves something out, says Kidder. What interests me is trying to catch the reflection of the human being on the page. The Bible is God s Word and He reveals himself and His authority through Scripture. The Bible appoints its own authority by claiming to be from God and containing the words of God. The authority of the Bible is established by its own claims. It is the word of God. (Elwell, 154). Biblical inspiration is a supernatural influence of the Holy Spirit upon divinely chosen agents in consequence of which their writings become trustworthy and authoritative (Elwell, 160). In other words, the Holy Spirit inspired and was involved with the writings of the Bible. Paul speaks of inspiration when He writes to Timothy, All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16, NIV). Scripture is the Word of God and the Holy Spirit used these chosen authors to write the words and message of God. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The Goal Of Education And The Goals Of Public Education The goals of public education revolve around three main areas that include; the political goals of schooling, the social goals of schooling, and the economic goals of schooling. These goals were placed with the idea that all children should receive public education whether you were poor or rich and schools focused on teaching about political views and the law to avoid conflicts. Schools were the focus of many hopes for political, social, and economic improvement. A persistent educational goal of school was to give everyone the same chance to pursue wealth, which is known as equality of opportunity. Equality of opportunity is the idea that individuals compete with one another with all participants starting at the same point, which Horace Mann referred to as the, great balance wheel of society (Spring, 2016, p. 66). Schools provide everyone with an equal opportunity to pursue an education and wealth; however, I believe there are factors that alter that equilibrium. Mann believed that equality of opportunity would reduce tensions between the rich and the poor. It allowed the poor to believe that regardless of their circumstance their children had an equal chance to compete with children of rich families (Spring, 2016 p. 67). However, there are factors that will contribute to your opportunity to succeed, but schools give students the opportunity to all start on the same path that end in different destinations. The debate about equality of opportunity is centered on three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Brief Summary Of Chapter 1 Of Mccloud In the beginning of chapter one, McCloud starts of by narrating through one of his flashbacks when he first started to read comic books. At first McCloud was in denial of what comics can truly mean, but as he began to read he was hooked. The main character is drawn as younger version of himself with stars and thick lines around his head with a surprise looked towards the comic he is reading. Throughout the next panels he draws himself with an astonishing look in his face because he found something he can fully understand. Before he can continue his memory McCloud s cuts in the middle of the flashback and he s back to his normal version saying, I felt there was something lurking in comics... something that had never been done. Some kind of hidden power! (McCloud 3). McCloud is trying to say that he felt something more when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The younger version of McCloud was drawn with clean lines, holding a notebook, and a look in his face with confusion. The author uses these panels to convince the audience about his credibility towards comics. Since the author experience stereotypes, he shows credibility towards his evidence because he is telling the truth about comics being serious. He also used these panels to make some stereotypes of himself, when we see a bully we always imagine a big tough guy making fun of the nerdy looking kid. He uses this stereotype to make the audience see that we can become that jerk that makes fun of comics by not taking other people s opinions seriously. Comics should be taken serious because we are the younger version of McCloud we have not fully understood what comics are, but through the visuals McCloud makes strong claims that comics can give you something more that heavy books ... Along with these false reports, river beds where the kudu drink are dry, and also attack his attempt at asserting himself. The environment also attacks his assertion because it is very hilly and densely forested so it is tricky to kill a kudu (Benson 291). In Sun, Jake Barnes would like to assert himself by having sex with Brett. Half of the procreation process involves the male and for males, having sex is a sign of masculinity. One thing though attacks his assertion of maleness, his impotence. Because of this, he fears that he will fail in courting Brett, which leads to his failure of asserting his masculinity. Fears of failure, of incompetence, and of failing masculine prowess are expressed through Harry in Snows (Benson 291). Harry s incompetence and fear of failure are shown in the following excerpt when he is talking about his writing, Now he would never write the things that he had saved to write until he knew enough to write them well. Well, he would not have to fail at trying to write them either. His fear of masculine prowess is expressed on page 13 where he feels terrible that he must leave the love relationship his wife created for him because of his carelessness: She was a damned nice woman too. He would as soon be in bed with her as anyone; rather with her, because she was richer, because she was very pleasant and appreciative and because she never made any scenes. And now this life that she had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Evolving Science Thomas Kuhn Analysis Evolving Science In the fast past world we live in it is evident that technology is ever changing and ever growing. The same can be said in regard to developments in science. Intelligent Design is defined by Funk Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, as the idea that, because of the complexity of certain features of nature, an intelligent designer must have played a role in the development of life. Evolution on the other hand, proposes that living things evolved over time. Edward O. Wilson (2012) states, Many who accept the fact of evolution cannot, however, on religious grounds, accept the operation of blind chance and the absence of divine purpose implicit in natural selection. They support the alternative explanation of intelligent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kuhn defines normal science as research firmly based upon one or more past scientific achievements achieves that some particular scientific community acknowledges for a time as supplying the foundation for its further practice. He later referred to achievements sharing these two characteristics as paradigms . Bawazer s discussion very well could be the dawning of a new scientific paradigm as discussed by Kuhn is his essay. Kuhn goes on to state, Men whose research is based on shared paradigms are committed to the same rules and standards for scientific practice. That commitment and the apparent consensus it produces are prerequisites for normal science, i.e., for the genesis and continuation of a particular research tradition (900). Clearly, the research studies Luke Bawazer s has conducted could definitely qualify as a new scientific paradigm discussed by Kuhn. Other examples that may qualify as new scientific paradigm are highlighted in Bawazer s Tedtalk video such as the work of Joe Davis and colleagues, who inserted the gene into bacteria to produce a functioning bacteria radio. Another example of this type of technology highlighted in the video by Angela Belcher, shows that viruses can be used to build batteries and solar cells. No doubt, this definitely the dawning of a new scientific ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Essay On Starve Or Kill A Lifeboat To Starve or Kill in a Lifeboat Webster s dictionary defines utilitarianism as a doctrine that the useful is the good and that the determining consideration of right conduct should be the usefulness of its consequences (Merriam Webster). This doctrine is used in cases when trying to decide whether an issue is morally acceptable or not. In the case of the sailors stranded in a lifeboat at sea, the question raised is whether or not the men were morally corrupt by killing the cabin boy. There are two basic approaches used to determine the outcome of this case. The first has to do with deciding if the benefits of killing a person outweigh the costs (Sandel 32). The second approach says that consequences are not the only factor to consider because some moral duties and rights are more important (Sandel 33). Suppose you were the judge, assume that you were asked to decide whether killing the cabin boy was morally permissible, how would you rule (Sandel 32)? Four English sailors became stranded at sea and were stuck in a lifeboat for 24 days. The youngest of the four, named Parker, was only seventeen. He was an orphan who had become a cabin boy. He became ill when he drank seawater and began to show signs of death (Sandel 31). On the twentieth day one of the men decided that the cabin boy had to be killed. They ate his body and blood until a rescue boat arrived days later. The men were arrested and charged with murder. The conflict arouse when the decision had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
