Educational technology is being implemented in schools and universities in Kyrgyzstan. Computers are used for the subject of Informatics in schools, and computer labs are available for research projects at universities. The strategy for 2012-2020 aims to provide more computer classes, interactive whiteboards, smart schools, and internet access, with interactive boards already placed in 100 schools and the establishment of 30 smart schools. Society is becoming more technological, with increased mobile phone ownership showing readiness for educational technology, though professional development of teachers, IT specialists, and administrators remains important.
