Manchester was a small and average European town, but once the revolution began, it quickly rose

What I remember most about those days was the hard times. Because of WWI, times were difficult.
There was a strict decline in employment and the majority of people living in Waxahachie lived in

A Little Under A Year
A little under a year ago I wrote in this place about an encounter I'd had with Barry Sheerman MP
and a Virgin Trains snack box on a train travelling from Manchester to London. At the time, what
most bothered me about the snack box was its weird appearance: the cardboard printed with photo–
real wickerwork so as to give the impression it was a sturdy hamper full of wholesome victuals ideal
for a leisurely picnic lunch, rather than the flimsy packet of salty and sugary titbits Richard Branson
was "giving" me for my real–life meal.
I swore at the end of my column that I would keep the hideous snack box for ever to remind me
never to eat such toxic pap, but when I was tidying up my office the other day and came upon it
looking just as vile – with its fake leather luggage tags that read, respectively, "Virgin Trains" and
"Follow a Different Train of Thought" – I did indeed follow a different train of thought: "I happen to
be going up to Manchester in a couple of days. Why don't I take the snack box with me and, when I
get there, eat it?"
Yes, yes, I know – eating the contents of a Virgin Trains snack box at my age looks like giving in to

These people had very poor food offerd them cuasing there bodues to be "thin and frail" as stated in
document 7. Due to them being weak and frail many of them had poor immune systems cuasing
them to be more prone to deasises. The laborers lived miserble lives working 12 hours a day and
going home to poorly furnshex homes. The last issue raised by the growth and production of
manchester was the pollution cuased by the factorys fumes. Many of the workers inhaled these toxic
fumes and became sick. Acording to Flora Trsitan "with every breath of foul air they asorbed fibers
of cotton, wool, or flas, or particles of copper, lead or iron" (doc 7). Fumes from the production
within the factory were being pumped into the air. Thes toxic fumes can be seen in the picture in
document 11. The air in this picture is black and filled with smoke from the factories. Many workers
died due to the pollution from the factories. Improvments were brought to the initial poor working
conditions later in the indutrial revolution. These prevented many other wokers from dying due to

The Revolution Of The Industrial Revolution
When thinking of the industrial revolution, I usually correlate this transitional period to great
advancements in machinery, and an increase in jobs. However, after looking past the surface of the
industrial revolution, in regards to the promise of great wealth, this promise was not kept, along with
other issues. I believe that a "better life" would mean that people would not have to go through the
same struggles they once did before the revolution, struggles such as not having a job, money, home,
etc. In addition, a better life would have to be permanent for it to truly make a difference.
Unfortunately, the industrial revolution did not do as much good as people perceived it to have done.
Essentially, a revolution is a changing in social order, and although this did happen, the people
effected who were a part of it were given almost the exact opposite of what they expected. This
essay will explore the conditions workers endured during the revolution, and discuss whether the
revolution gave a better life, or a worse one. The "Rules of a Factory in Berlin" depicts just that.
However, these rules were, in some cases, much stricter and excessive than what I would usually

The right to live one's life on his or her own terms is a basic tenet in the modern world. In American

from the terrible pain of aggressive skin cancer is converted to an uncharacteristic subject. By

More issues such as sickness, and death arose due to the overcrowding of people and the unsanitary
conditions they lived in. Thomas B. Macaulay, a social historian, states people live longer because
they are better fed, better lodged, better clothed, and better attended in sickness. (Doc 3) This
without a doubt means that if people had better conditions in living, and not as much overcrowding,
they would live longer. One big issue that was an ongoing problem during this time was disease and
infection. Disease would take a lot of lives, and people could not do anything about it because,
because they did not know how to fight it. Edwin Chadwick stated that the annual loss of life from

foods being contaminated, it was obvious that people would have died from infection and disease. In
