Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. and/or work piece during manufacturing processing.
1. Acquire the materials to be used in this activity
2. Before you begin cutting any materials, you must first determine the sizes and quantity of the parts you will be cutting. You will
need to know the sizes of the parts before you begin designing the jigs and fixtures. Remember, you will be using the parts you cut
for determining the properties of materials in a later activity.

In manufacturing a product, standard stock materials are cut and or machined to the required sizes. The required sizes are specified by
working drawings of the product being made. In continuous line manufacturing many identical parts are produced.
Jigs and Fixtures:
Identically sized and shaped parts can be made using special types of production tooling called jigs and fixtures. Jigs and fixtures are
often fastened to machines. A JIG is a device used to hold a part being made and to guide a cutting tool. A FIXTURE is a device used
to hold a part in place while it is being machined or assembled.
Directions: Take the time to discuss and brainstorm the type of jig or fixture that you are going to construct. Then design a
3-dimensional drawing that identifies the overall sizes of your object. When you have finished with the sketch of your
design, get it approved by the instructor and gather the materials needed to construct your jig or fixture.
