process concerned to:
Helping the child to grow and flourish into love and
goodness.
Enable them to understand themselves.
Exploring the psychological issues of life.
Discovering the hidden treasure of life that are beyond
culture religion and knowledge.
Aims of education
 According to him education is not nearly acquiring
knowledge, gathering and collecting the facts. It is to create
human beings who are integrated and intelligent
 Another aims of education is to create new value and no
compulsion.
 The aims of education is to cultivate the right kind of
relationship not only with the individuals with all the
individuals and society.
 Development of scientific temper and religious spirit.
 Prepares people for life and change in society.
 To develop free and fearless people.
 Development of new values and spirit of enquiry.
 Development of aesthetic sense and creative individual.
 Right to vocational development and integrated
personality development.
Krishnamurthy concept of education
Krishnamurthy rigorously opposite the education
system which children has been judged only by their marks
and degree. Trained to earn in livelihood not for free life it is
not a true education.
According to him education is not only “acquiring
more techniques skill but educating the human beings to live
with great art”.
Further he says that “education means a holistic
approach to life cultivating the brain, technologically and frees
of its own petty little self”.
It is necessity to free oneself from all domains
psychologically hindrances, compulsion, free, fear, conflict
and set patterns in order to get a clear, critical innovative and
integrated Outlook.
Curriculum
Krishnamurthy presented an integrated curriculum to ensure the
complete or holistic development of a child. He much concern about
environment therefore in his educational institution environmental studies
existence as a separate subject.
He recommends various other activities along with the subject
such as art, craft, dance, music, debates, swimming, sport, athletics,
gardening, yoga are integrated with general subject.
Methods of teaching
He believes that teaching is not a technique. It is a way of life.
So, he has not suggested any specific method for teaching. Based on his
taught few principal have been elicited. The teacher should kept in mind
these principles while teaching.
Principles of fairness
Principles of freedom
Principles of self knowledge
Principles of integration and holiness
Principles of cooperation
Principles of critical thinking
Discipline
He avoids using the word discipline. He offer to use order
instead of discipline. According to him discipline means to learn, not to
confirm, not to suffers, not to initiate the pattern it involves several
things to learn to be free, to be sensitive, to see the beauty of love.
Freedom does not mean individual does whatever he or
she want to do. But it is an order and for bringing that order one have to
extraordinary receptive, sensitive to everything. He says that if we are
watching, listening then because we are free, we are punctual and come
class regularly study well and to do things rightly therefore we advocate
self discipline.
Role of a Student
According to him student and teacher both learn together.
Student treated as equal partner. Teacher should create an opportunity to
develop their own unique. Things should not be imposed on him rather
they should be free to discover themselves and refine their own
potentially.
He give more importance to the children therefore education
should be child centre it is the aims of Krishnamurthy.
Role of a Teacher
The role of a teacher is very significant in the
development of child’s potentiality and shaping of his life. A
teacher is not merely fever of information he is one who
points “the way to wisdom, to truth” People who
experienced in teaching are only the real teacher and the
create their own techniques.
The sole motto of a teacher should help the students
to attain a sound mind, conscious mind which is
investigative, explorative, truth seeking, capable to dealing
with of life as a whole.
According to him the right educator is one who
creates fearless, stress less, competition less and free
environment. He works as a facilitator and friend for the
students in the teaching learning process.
School
School is a place where one learner learns about the totality of
life, the wholeness of life. The school should be like home for a child
because it avoids any kind of fear, hesitation in the minds of child.
School environment must have appropriate environment like
student should be feel happy, free to run, sit, play and even talk or act
whatever a child need. School is a place where both teacher and
students explore not only outer world also their own thinking, behaviour.
He is favour of small size schools that is limited number of
student and right kind of educators.
There are eight schools were still blossoming around the world
in the name of Jiddu Krishnamurthy.
Oak Grove School
Backword park school
Sahyadri school
Pathshala school
Rishi valley school
Rajghat basant school
The valley school
The School KFI
Examination and evaluation
The examination is another factor which inculcates
an element of superiority and inferiority in a child. So
teachers should neutralizing the ill effect of examination is
also prime duty of teacher.
Exam-centric evaluation leads present education to
its downfall. He was quite aware of demerits of evaluation.
So he suggested that student feel from exam pressure.
Teacher applies several informal ways such as presentation
in the class, assignment, formative test to evaluate the
student progress. Because they provide feedback for
improve teaching and learning process.
Reflections of Krishnamurthy philosophy of
education in National education policy 2020

discuss, Integrate and analyse the problems. NEP 2020 reflexes this
vision.

animals, insects and spending time with the nature. Now new policy
makers realise to introduce “organic leaving”, “environmental
education” in curriculum and suggested to develop respect for

school. New policy moving “recognising life skills, social skills, team
work, citizenship, communication skill, collaboration, creativity, self
initiative, self discipline, responsibility by considering a safe and
stimulating learning environment as essential for learning in educational
institution.

in school. because every child has its own uniqueness. It should be
identified and posted. New policy recommended recognition
identifying, festering and unique capability of each student to promote
each students holistic development.
 He was against the qualitative assessment system because it judges
students on the basis of root memorization. He favours the qualitative
assessment on daily basis on the both quantifiable and non quantifiable
parameters. NEP 2020 recommended that to shift from summative to
regular formative and test higher order skills such as analysis, critical
thinking and conceptual clarity

educational aims, content, methods and other elements in the education
process and also implementing these principles in particular classroom.
His philosophy of Education become a foundation for progressive and
dynamic changes. He suggested for experimental learning it enable
students for creation of self knowledge.
