This document summarizes a study that compares balance and flexibility between dancer girls and non-dancer girls. 30 dancer girls and 30 non-dancer girls were given tests to measure their balance (using the stork stand test) and flexibility (using the sit and reach test). The results showed that on average, dancer girls had better balance and flexibility scores compared to non-dancer girls, though the differences were not statistically significant. The study concludes that dance can have positive impacts on factors like balance and flexibility, and recommends that dance be included in physical education curriculums.

Experimental Evaluation of the Effect of Thread Angle on the Fatigue Life of ...IOSR Journals
Abstract : The present work is concerned with fatigue strength, obtained by plotting the S-N Curves for
determining the fatigue life of various thread geometries of bolts under cyclic loading. The stress equations
obtained from Majzoobi are being used for calculations of core stress produced due to cyclic loading,
which is being carried usually by the first thread of the bolt. The higher stress concentration occurs in the root
of first threads.The experimental work has been carried out for five different thread profiles of varying flank
angles, having six samples of each profile. The fatigue testing on each profile has been performed under cyclic
loading, in order to obtain the number of cycles to failure of a particular specimen. The results obtained
experimentally have been compared with the work of Gane . Finally the work is used to obtain the failure life of
bolts, which means which thread profile has higher fatigue life or simply higher strength to failure. As strength
is of direct use to the designer regarding the safety of structures.
Parametric Optimization of Single Cylinder Diesel Engine for Pyrolysis Oil an...IOSR Journals
Abstract: An experimental study has been carried out for pyrolysis oil blended with diesel used in single
cylinder diesel engine. Pyrolysis oil is obtained from tire waste by pyrolysis process. Pyrolysis process is a
thermo-chemical decomposition of organic matter in absence of oxygen. Blending of pyrolysis oil with diesel in
maximum possible proportion helps to reduce the consumption of diesel fuel. In this study, the effects of
parameters i.e. injection timing, injection pressure, compression ratio, and load are taken as variable for
optimization. As the experiment required simultaneously optimization of four parameters with five levels,
taguchi method of optimization is used in this experiment. The results of the taguchi experiment identifies that
220 injection timing, injection pressure 200 bar, compression ratio 16 and engine load 20kg are optimum
parameter setting for lowest break specific fuel consumption. Engine performance is mostly influenced by
engine load and is least influenced by Compression ratio.

Abstract: A monopole antenna is a type of radio antenna formed by replacing one half of a dipole antenna with a ground plane at right-angles to the remaining half. Monopoles may be used from a few hundred KHz through several GHz in frequency and are commonly one-quarter of a wave length long, but may be shorter or longer. Monopole antennas exhibit high gain and improved efficiency in a surprisingly small package. Monopole antenna can be designed to exhibit wideband capabilities. The different available monopole antennas are dual band printed monopole antenna, cross-slot monopole antenna, U-shaped monopole antenna, triangular shaped monopole antenna and a wideband monopole antenna. This paper deals with the comparison obtained from the results such as return loss, VSWR, current distribution, and the radiation pattern of simple U-shaped and complete monopole antenna. ‘Indian Agriculture: A Fresh Approach Towards Green Revolution 2.0’IOSR Journals
The agriculture sector which employs more than 55% of the country workforce whereas share of agriculture and allied sector to total GDP is 14.1% (2011-12). The farm sector achieved 3.6% growth during the 11th Five Year Plan (2007-12), falling short of the 4% growth target, although it was much higher than growth of 2.5 and 2.4% during 9th and 10th plan respectively. Thus, the sector needs urgent reforms to boost crop yields and private investment in infrastructure so as to motivate farmers and feed the growing population. At the latest Economic Survey (2012-13) points out that “India is at a juncture where further reforms are urgently required to achieve greater efficiency and productivity in agriculture for sustaining growth. There is a need to have stable and consistent policies where markets play a deserving role and private investment in infrastructure is stepped up. An efficient supply chaim that firmly establishes the linkage between retail demand and the farmer will be important”

Abstract: Mobile technology has now become the order of the day. Everyone seems to own one or more mobile
devices. Everyone is so excited because this has made life easier for a lot of people. Though mobile technology
has brought many benefits to people’s lives, its application has some risks that come with it. This paper
therefore looked at mobile computing application areas in Zimbabwe, the risks brought about by mobile
computing application in Zimbabwe and how mobile computing application risks are mitigated in a developing
country like Zimbabwe where the technology level seems to be behind. The study findings showed that mobile
application areas in Zimbabwe include paying bills, social networking and playing games. Most Zimbabweans
revealed that they do not know how to mitigate mobile computing application risks. The study finally
recommended that mobile computing application risks should be taught in schools as well as in televisions and
radios so that everyone is aware of them.

The purpose of the study was to find out the effect of practice of yoga exercises on balance and
Perception of Punjab National level players. The experiment study was conducted on 40 male players of
Gymnastics and Kho-Kho who at least participated in the state championship and there age ranged was
between 14-40 years. The total 40 players (as subjects) were divided into two groups namely control groups and
experimental groups (20 each). The test of balance (state&dynamic) and perception were taken as criterion
measures. The experimental group was given an exercise schedule of selected yogaasana for the period of six
weeks. He control group was not given any sort of special training. The analysis of datashowed that the
practices of yogic exercises are found effective to develop the balance and perception.

Abstract: To see the effect of six weeks yogic exercise in college students 38 BPE 1st year students of IDCPE
Ishwar Deshmukh Collge of Physical Education Nagpur were selected as a subject. The pre-test and post test
had been taken by using Dynamic flexibility test, side split flexibility test and shoulder and wrist elevation
flexibility test tools. To determine the difference between the 2 groups (initial and post test) of one group
experimental group of the BPE 1st year student t test was employed at 0.05 significance level. And to determine
the training effect the t test for comparison mean was employed for two tails at the confidence level 0.05 level of
significant.
The comparative between the initial and post test of dynamic flexibility test, side split flexibility test and
shoulder and wrist elevation flexibility test for the state level football players were found to be statistically no
significant at .05 confidence level.

phenomenon at great magnitude. It has got mass participation, as it attracts people either for recreations,
physical fitness or performance.The effectiveness of using the heart rate (HR) as an indicator of exercise
intensity to monitor of all games and sports and any physical activity. However, recently new regulations and a
trend towards a more conditional games have prompted a need to revise field study procedures and demand the
increased specialization of games’ concerned. Yoga has been become increasingly popular in the world as a
method to reduce stress and as a means of exercise and fitness training also for recovery purpose as well. The
purpose of the study was to compare the differences on recovery pulse rate among, Yoga Nidra group ,Savasana
group and Control group, (25 of each group). For the purpose of the study 75 male B.P.Ed students from
P.G.G.I.P.E Banipur North 24 pgs, West Bengal were selected as the subjects for this study. The age of the
subjects was between 22-25 years. Recovery Pulse Rate was only the variable of the study. ‘ANOVA’ was
applied to calculate the collected data at 0.05 level of significance and to indentify the significance differences
among the means critical difference was used as a Post-hoc test. The result showed that there was no
significant difference between Control group and Savasana group but significance difference were observed
between Control group and Yoga Nidra group, and between Savasana group and Yoga Nidra group.

ABSTRACT: Maintaining effort capacity is one of the goals pursued in adult physical education. Sedentary people have difficulty in sustaining an effort that is considered to be withing the usual intensity. They should receive training exercise because they have lost the physical ability through a bad conduct of life. In this research we started from the hypothesis that the use in the physical education lesson of motion games, which involves sustained efforts, will lead to a much faster increase of the students’ effort capacity. Dynamic games will determine the students to participate with greater interest and pleasure in lessons, and this will result in improved effort due to their active involvement. The goal was to highlight that motion games can also be used with success in the case of young people. The attractiveness and dynamism that characterizes the games determines the students to be more active and more involved in practicing physical exercise. The experiment was conducted on a group of 18 students from the second year of study at Faculty of Economic Sciences and Public Administration, at „Ştefan cel Mare” University of Suceava. The control group was formed from 18 students in the second year, the same specialization in another study group. The experiment was conducted over a period of 4 months (October 2018 – February 2019).
COMPARATIVE STUDY OF SLOW AND FAST SURYANAMASKAR ON PHYSIOLOGICAL FUNCTIONYogacharya AB Bhavanani
Numerous scientific studies have reported beneficial physiological changes after short and long term yoga training. Suryanamaskar is an integral part of modern yoga training and may be performed either in a slow or rapid manner. As there are few studies on suryanamaskar we conducted this study to study differential effect of 6 months training in the fast and slow versions. 42 school children in the age group of 12 to 16 were randomly divided into two groups of 21 each. Group I and Group II received 6 months training in performance of slow suryanamaskar (SSN) and fast suryanamaskar (FSN) respectively. Training in SSN produced a significant decrease in diastolic pressure. In contrast, training in FSN produced a significant increase in systolic pressure. Although there was a highly significant increase in hand grip strength and hand grip endurance in both the groups, the increase in hand grip endurance in FSN group was significantly more than in SSN group. MIP and MEP increased significantly in both groups and the increase of MIP in the FSN group was more significant as compared to SSN. Training in SSN reduced the resting diastolic pressure and rate-pressure-product, which, indicates a decrease in load on the heart. In contrast, FSN increased diastolic pressure and rate-pressure-product. The present study shows suryanamaskar has positive physiological benefits as evidenced by changes in pulmonary function, respiratory pressures, handgrip strength, handgrip endurance and resting cardiovascular parameters. It also demonstrates that there are differences between performance of suryanamaskar in a slow and fast manner and that the effects of FSN are similar to physical aerobic exercises whereas the effects of SSN are similar to those of Yoga training.

Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.

Abstract: Dance is a form of art that normally involves rhythmic movement of the body and accompanied with
music. Movement of human body while performing dance can become a significant medium for communication,
feelings and emotions. It embraces movement, creation and performance. Dance helps to extend the limits of
human physical ability, expressiveness and spirit. When it comes to health dance can be a very effective way of
establishing a lasting healthy living. Anecdotally it can be said that dance potentially motivate and excite young
people. Dance is a non-competitive form of exercise which has positive effects on physical and mental health.
Young girls can be engaged in physical activity through dance. The author being a dancer in fervor and passion
as well as an aspirant of the profession Physical Education strived to conduct the study bearing the title “A
Comparative Study on Balance and Flexibility between Dancer and Non-Dancer Girls”. The researcher
selected 30 girls who are regularly involved in Dance and 30 girls who are non-dancer or rather sedentary on
the basis of purposive stratified random sampling from Bidhan Govt. Girl’s School, Dist. Nadia West Bengal as
the subjects of her study. She incorporated Sit and Reach test and Stork Stand Balance tests for assessment of
Flexibility and Balance respectively. With respect to data analysis initially descriptive statics like mean SD and
range and further paired sample T test was conducted to ascertain the degree of difference between the means
with the help of SPSS soft ware. Data analysis proved significant difference between the Dancer and Non-
Dancer girls both with respect to flexibility and Balance. In both the cases the Dancer girls proved to be better
though the differences were not statistically significant. Thus the author arrived at the conclusion that dance
involving passion, strength, stamina, enthusiasm, rhythm, amusement and many more could be a wonderful
fitness activity similar to other fitness activities like jogging, running, cycling, swimming etc.

I. Introduction
General Introduction: Dance is a form of art that normally involves rhythmic movement of the body and
normally accompanied with music. When it comes to health dance can be a very effective way of establishing a
lasting healthy living. Young girls can be engaged in physical activity through dance. Vigorous dance which
does not associate any particular form or rhythmic movements can attribute to better health and well being.
Effects of Dance: Effects of dancing on physical fitness are normally positive. Recent research shows that
females benefit more psychologically and physically from dance considering it as a physical exercise. Positive
effects have been observed in various areas like flexibility, strength and endurance. Recent studies have shown
that dance fitness workout can increase the heart rate up to 65-85 percent. Dancing not only beneficial for
cardiovascular health it also helps shape the body and weight loss.
Flexibility
Dancing requires a great amount of flexibility. Dancers must strive to achieve full range of motion for
all the major muscle groups. Most forms of dance require dancers to perform moves that require bending and
stretching, so dancers naturally become more flexible by simply dancing.
Strength
Strength is defined as the ability of a muscle to exert a force against resistance. Dancing builds strength
by forcing the muscles to resist against a dancer's own body weight.
Endurance
Endurance is the ability of muscles to work hard for increasingly longer periods of time without
fatigue. Regular dancing is great for improving endurance, especially vigorous dancing such as line
and ballroom dancing.

Sense of Well-Being
Dancing is a social activity. Dancing provides many opportunities to meet other people. Joining
a dance class can increase self-confidence and build social skills. As physical activity reduces stress and tension,
regular dancing gives an overall sense of well-being.
Dance Education
As quality educational dance is a forum for collaboration between teachers and students through all
learning domains, it is a site for deep learning for everyone. Teaching dance can be potentially rewarding yet
challenging. When students fill space with movement creations that they have developed, their sweat, smiles,
and pride convey a job well done! A good physical education program cannot be well balanced if it does not
include essential elements of dance as part of its integral curriculum.
Purpose of Study:
1. The main purpose of my study is to find out the differences on flexibility and Balance between Dancer and
Non-Dancer girls.
2. To find out the contribution of Dance with respect to the fitness components like balance and flexibility.
Statement of problem:
The author being a dancer in fervor and passion as well as an aspirant of the profession Physical Education
strived to conduct the study bearing the title “A Comparative Study on Balance and Flexibility between
Dancer and Non-Dancer Girls”.
II. Methods and Materials:
Selection of Subjects: The researcher selected 30 girls who are regularly involved in Dance and 30 girls who
are non-dancer or rather sedentary on the basis of purposive stratified random sampling from Bidhan Govt.
Girl’s School, Dist. Nadia West Bengal as the subjects of her study.

Sit and Reach table
Measuring tape
Clapper
Design of study: The total was conducted in 4 days. 2 days were required for conducting the tests for a single
group. The procedures for conducting the tests are as follows:
The scholar incorporated Sit and Reach test and Stork Stand Balance tests for assessment of Flexibility and
Balance respectively.
Procedure for Stork Stand Test:
The subject warms up for 10 minutes
The subject stands comfortably on both feet with their hands on their hips
The subject lifts the right leg and places the sole of the right foot against the side of the left kneecap. The
assistant gives the command “GO”, starts the stopwatch and the athlete raises the heel of the left foot to
stand on their toes
The subject is to hold this position for as long as possible. The assistant stops the stopwatch when the
athlete’s left heel touches the ground or the right foot moves away from the left knee. The assistance
records the time
The subject rests for 3 minutes. The athlete stands comfortably on both feet with their hands on their hips.
The athlete lifts the left leg and places the sole of the left foot against the side of the right kneecap. The
assistant gives the command “GO”, starts the stopwatch and the athlete raises the heel of the right foot to
stand on their toes. The athlete is to hold this position for as long as possible. The assistant stops the
stopwatch when the athlete’s right heel touches the ground or the left foot moves away from the right
kneecap.

The subject warms up for 10 minutes and then removes their shoes.
The assistant secures the ruler to the box top with the tape so that the front edge of the box lines up with the
15cm (6 inches) mark on the ruler and the zero end of the ruler points towards the athlete.
The athlete sits on the floor with their legs fully extended with the bottom of their bare feet against the box.
The athlete places one hand on top of the other, slowly bends forward and reaches along the top of the ruler
as far as possible holding the stretch for two seconds.
The assistant records the distance reached by the athlete’s finger tips (cm).
The athlete performs the test three times.
The assistant calculates and records the average of the three distances and uses this value to assess the
athlete’s performance
III. Result and Discussion:
In this phase of the project report the tables of statistical calculations and related discussion have been
presented:
Initially descriptive statistics was computed to calculate the Mean and S.D. of the different variables,
and further paired sample T test was conducted to ascertain the degree of difference between the means with the
help of SPSS soft ware. Data analysis proved significant difference between the Dancer and Non-Dancer girls
both with respect to flexibility and Balance.
Table no. 1 shows the Mean and S.D. of the fitness variables Balance and Flexibility for both the
Dancer and Non-Dancer groups.

Fig. 1 shows the difference on balance between Dancer and Non-dancer girls
Fig. 2 shows the difference on flexibility between Dancer and Non-dancer girls

It is clear from figure 1 and 2 that there is reasonable difference between Dancer and Non-Dancer girls
with respect to both the fitness variables balance and flexibility, though the difference was statistically not
significant. Anova was computed to locate the degree of difference between the means.
Table 2 shows the Analysis of variance between the Dancer and Non-Dancer girls.

The table shows no significant difference on the variables between the Dancer and Non- dancer girls.
According to descriptive statics the variables show difference which is clear from mean values presented in
table no.1 and also the bar diagram presented in fig.1 and 2. According to the analysis of variance presented in
table no. 2 it is somehow clear that the difference are not statistically significant but in case of dance the F value
is 0.092 which is quite closer to 0.05 level. Thus it is somehow clear from the above discussion that dance
obviously have some positive impact on the fitness variables balance and flexibility. Jumping is an integral part
of most dance performances and involves the use of both muscular strength and elasticity. Studies report that
plyometric (jump) training has been shown to have a positive effect in dancers. However, there are warnings
that plyometric training must be approached gradually and systematically to avoid injury. A good starting point
is to design exercises in which dancers are encouraged to jump in a neutral position without emphasizing artistic
skill, but instead simply focusing on jumping higher. Once the dancers have gained greater understanding of
how to elevate themselves, they can bring correct dance technique back into the movements while trying to
maintain as much height as possible”. An Italian study in 2006 has shown that dance is a very good exercise for
heart patients compared to other aerobic exercises like cycling. This may be partly because the patients enjoyed
it much more
IV. Summary, conclusion recommendations.
Thus the author being a dancer in fervor and passion as well as an aspirant of the profession Physical
Education, under the supervision of Dr. Saikot Chatterjee (the first author) strived to conduct the study bearing
the title “A Comparative Study on Balance and Flexibility between Dancer and Non-Dancer Girls”. The
findings of the study throw light on the fact that though there is no significant difference between Dancer and
Non-Dancer girls with regard to the fitness components Balance and Flexibility the F value for balance was
nearer to the significant value.
Conclusion: Dance obviously has some positive impact on health fitness and well being of an individual.
Recommendations: Based on the research findings the scholar proposed the following recommendations:
1. Dance is a good fitness activity for house wives or working women not only for women but for men too.
2. Dance should be included as a compulsory physical activity in the school physical Education curriculum.
3. Enlarged research studies may be conducted to assess the impact of dance practice on the various physical
and physiological system of the body.
