Paving our learner’s way to autonomy
 Technology is not the only, nor the most
important thing in teaching today but it is
definitely playing a crucial role in this new
    teaching-learning era.

 The reason why I find this issue important is
    closely connected to this video:
 The same as eating habits are changing our
students are now exposed to speed in a
    totally different way

 For the class to be engaging, we must use the
same channels they are normally connected
    to, but how?

 The answer to this may lie on variety, speed,
IT and content (beyond language), among
    others.
                                     Let’s remember...
“Interactive whiteboards can
     improve teaching and
 learning by helping learners
understand new concepts and
      by increasing learner
 involvement and motivation”
 Using web-based resources in whole-class
    teaching
 Showing video-clips to help explain concepts
 Demonstrating a piece of software
 Presenting learner’s work to the rest of the
    class
 Manipulating text and practising handwriting
 Saving notes written on the board for future
    use

To revise important vocabulary, prepare a file
with a few words on a page. Each word is
then completely covered with coloured blobs,
stripes or even pictures so that children
cannot read it. During the lesson, use the
rubber tool to slowly reveal parts of the word.
As the word is being revealed, children are
challenged to write the word (if they can
guess what it is), and its meaning.
This is a wonderful (free) piece of software
(which can be downloaded here), which is
perfect for the interactive whiteboard. It is
based on the Channel 4 TV show and children
really enjoy using it - they simply use the
chosen numbers to find the target number
within a given time limit.
