This document discusses collaborative task execution between a mobile device and cloud clone to minimize energy consumption on the mobile device while meeting a time deadline. It formulates the problem as a delay-constrained workflow scheduling problem to determine the optimal execution location (mobile device or cloud) for each task. Two algorithms are proposed to solve the problem - a one-climb policy for the special case without execution restrictions, and a Lagrange relaxation-based algorithm for the general case with some tasks requiring mobile or cloud execution. Simulation results show collaborative task execution is more energy efficient than local or remote execution alone.

RGBEXCEL: AN RGB IMAGE DATA EXTRACTOR AND EXPORTER FOR EXCEL PROCESSINGsipij
The objective of this paper was to develop a means of rapidly obtaining RGB image data, as part of an
effort to develop a low-cost method of image processing and analysis based on Microsoft Excel. A simple
standalone GUI (graphical user interface) software application called RGBExcel was developed to extract
RGB image data from any colour image files of any format. For a given image file, the output from the
software is an Excel file with the data from the R (red), G (green), and B (blue) bands of the image
contained in different sheets. The raw data and any enhancements can be visualized by using the surface
chart type in combination with other features. Since Excel can plot a maximum dimension of 255 by 255
pixels, larger images are downscaled to have a maximum dimension of 255 pixels. Results from testing the
application are discussed in the paper.

Performance evaluation results proved that the proposed model can reduce around 20% to 53% energy for low complexity problems and up to 98% for high complexity problems.
Energy Optimized Link Selection Algorithm for Mobile Cloud ComputingEswar Publications
Mobile cloud computing is the revolutionary distributed computing research area which consists of three different domains: cloud computing, wireless networks and mobile computing targeting to improve the task computational capabilities of the mobile devices in order to minimize the energy consumption. Heavy computations can be offloaded to the cloud to decrease energy consumption for the mobile device. In some mobile cloud applications, it has been more energy inefficient to use the cloud compared to the conventional computing conducted in the local device. Despite mobile cloud computing being a reliable idea, still faces several
problems for mobile phones such as storage, short battery life and so on. One of the most important concerns for mobile devices is low energy consumption. Different network links has different bandwidths to uplink and downlink task as well as data transmission from mobile to cloud or vice-versa. In this paper, a novel optimal link selection algorithm is proposed to minimize the mobile energy. In the first phase, all available networks are
scanned and then signal strength is calculated. All the calculated signals along with network locations are given
input to the optimal link selection algorithm. After the execution of link selection algorithm, an optimal network link is selected.
CONTEXT-AWARE DECISION MAKING SYSTEM FOR MOBILE CLOUD OFFLOADINGIJCNCJournal
In this study, a mobile cloud offloading system has been developed to decide that a process run on the cloud or on the mobile platform. A context-aware decision algorithm has been developed. The low performance and problem of battery consumption of mobile devices have been fundamental challenges on the mobile computing. To overcome this kind of challenges, recent advances towards mobile cloud computing propose a selective mobile-to-cloud offloading service by moving a mobile application from a slow mobile device to a fast server in the cloud during run time. Determine whether a process running on cloud or not is an important issue. Power consumption and time limits are vitally important for decision. In this study we used PowerTutor application which is a dynamic power measurement modelling tool. Another important factor is the process completion time. Calculate the power consumption is very difficult

The increased usage of mobile devices caused them to face a large amount of resource, memory and processing speed scarcity. Of all other constraints, energy is the major problem for this to carry out a task. The concept of offloading gets into play for mobile devices i.e., the task or the computation which needs to be performed involving more service in the android systems will be shifted to resourceful server (for ex cloud) and getting back the results done from the cloud. The decision of whether to offload a computation or not will depend on the task accounting to the energy spent by the device while working with the application versus the amount of energy spent by the same device for uploading the task to the cloud and getting the result back from the cloud. As this concept depicts energy is the major constraint for whether to offload a task or not, there is a model called CUCKOO framework which acts as an interface between the cloud and the android environment to support for the task offloading to the cloud. Thus this framework bridges the gap between the smartphones as well as the cloud environment so that computation intensive task can be performed with less amount of energy consumed. In this work two applications are used to detect the amount of energy consumed in the cloud as well as the smartphones namely eyedentify and Photoshoot.
Cooperative hierarchical based edge-computing approach for resources allocati...IJECEIAES
Using mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) applications is becoming very popular and obtained researchers’ interest and commercial investment, in order to fulfill future vision and the requirements for smart cities. These applications have common demands such as fast response, distributed nature, and awareness of service location. However, these requirements’ nature cannot be satisfied by central systems services that reside in the clouds. Therefore, edge computing paradigm has emerged to satisfy such demands, by providing an extension for cloud resources at the network edge, and consequently, they become closer to end-user devices. In this paper, exploiting edge resources is studied; therefore, a cooperative-hierarchical approach for executing the pre-partitioned applications’ modules between edges resources is proposed, in order to reduce traffic between the network core and the cloud, where this proposed approach has a polynomial-time complexity. Furthermore, edge computing increases the efficiency of providing services, and improves end-user experience. To validate our proposed cooperative-hierarchical approach for modules placement between edge nodes’ resources, iFogSim toolkit is used. The obtained simulation results show that the proposed approach reduces network’s load and the total delay compared to a baseline approach for modules’ placement, moreover, it increases the network’s overall throughput.
Fog computing scheduling algorithm for smart city IJECEIAES
With the advent of the number of smart devices across the globe, increasing the number of users using the Internet. The main aim of the fog computing (FC) paradigm is to connect huge number of smart objects (billions of objects) that can make a bright future for smart cities. Due to the large deployments of smart devices, devices are expected to generate huge amounts of data and forward the data through the Internet. FC also refers to an edge computing framework that mitigates the issue by applying the process of knowledge discovery using a data analysis approach to the edges. Thus, the FC approaches can work together with the internet of things (IoT) world, which can build a sustainable infrastructure for smart cities. In this paper, we propose a scheduling algorithm namely the weighted round-robin (WRR) scheduling algorithm to execute the task from one fog node (FN) to another fog node to the cloud. Firstly, a fog simulator is used with the emergent concept of FC to design IoT infrastructure for smart cities. Then, spanning-tree routing (STP) protocol is used for data collection and routing. Further, 5G networks are proposed to establish fast transmission and communication between users. Finally, the performance of our proposed system is evaluated in terms of response time, latency, and amount of data used.
ABSTRACT
In today’s world, the swift increase of utilizing mobile services and simultaneously discovering of the cloud computing services, made the Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) selected as a wide spread technology among mobile users. Thus, the MCC incorporates the cloud computing with mobile services for achieving facilities in daily using mobile. The capability of mobile devices is limited of computation context, memory capacity, storage ability, and energy. Thus, relying on cloud computing can handle these troubles in the mobile surroundings. Cloud Computing gives computing easiness and capacity such provides availability of services from anyplace through the Internet without putting resources into new foundation, preparing, or application authorizing. Additionally, Cloud Computing is an approach to expand the limitations or increasing the abilities dynamically. The primary favourable position of Cloud Computing is that clients just use what they require and pay for what they truly utilize. Mobile cloud computing is a form for various services, where a mobile gadget is able to utilize the cloud for data saving, seeking, information mining, and multimedia preparing. Cloud computing innovation is also causes many new complications in side of safety and gets to direct when users store significant information with cloud servers. As the clients never again have physical ownership of the outsourced information, makes the information trustworthiness, security, and authenticity insurance in Cloud Computing is extremely difficult and conceivably troublesome undertaking. In MCC environments, it is hard to find a paper embracing most of the concepts and issues such as: architecture, computational offloading, challenges, security issues, authentications and so on. In this paper we discuss these concepts with presenting a review of the most recent papers in the domain of MCC.

Time and resource constrained offloading with multi-task in a mobile edge co...IJECEIAES
In recent years, the importance of the mobile edge computing (MEC) paradigm along with the 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT) and virtualization of network functions is well noticed. Besides, the implementation of computation-intensive applications at the mobile device level is limited by battery capacity, processing capabalities and execution time. To increase the batteries life and improve the quality of experience for computationally intensive and latency-sensitive applications, offloading some parts of these applications to the MEC is proposed. This paper presents a solution for a hard decision problem that jointly optimizes the processing time and computing resources in a mobile edge-computing node. Hence, we consider a mobile device with an offloadable list of heavy tasks and we jointly optimize the offloading decisions and the allocation of IT resources to reduce the latency of tasks’ processing. Thus, we developped a heuristic solution based on the simulated annealing algorithm, which can improve the offloading rate and reduce the total task latency while meeting short decision time. We performed a series of experiments to show its efficiency. Finally, the obtained results in terms of full-time treatrement are very encouraging. In addition, our solution makes offloading decisions within acceptable and achievable deadlines.
