This document discusses analyzing engine emissions using a testbed setup to evaluate compliance with Euro VI emission standards. It describes the components of a typical testbed, including sensors to measure engine performance and emissions. Two common emission test cycles are described: the World Harmonized Steady State Cycle (WHSC) which evaluates engines at steady speeds and loads, and the World Harmonized Transient Cycle (WHTC) which uses transient speed and load conditions to better represent real-world driving. The document emphasizes the need to reduce emissions like NOx, PM, CO and HC to maintain air quality and protect the environment.
Performance & emission optimization of single cylinder diesel engine to m...eSAT Journals
Abstract
The growing cities, sharp increasing traffic, trajectory growth, rapid economic development and industrialization, and higher levels of energy consumption has resulted an increase of pollution load in the environment. It is also accepted that automobiles have emerged as a critical source of air pollution in the developing world. Realizing the gravity of the problem, steps are being taken to introduce better technologies, better fuel quality, shift to environment friendly fuels, and mass transit system for the control of environmental pollution in urban areas. Electronic diesel control, use of electronic FIE with increase in injection pressures and flexibility in injection control has changed the image of diesel engine. Engine optimization will lead to the better power with the better fuel economy which accomplish the urban living standard and care of the environment. Conventional fuel injection system was unable to fulfilment of this requirement, so it is necessity to modify fuel injection system along with vehicle after exhaust after treatment devices. Performance and Emission was optimized by using ETAS-INCA software. For the subject Bs-III engine, capacity is increased 50cc and certain modifications done. After proper optimization, with EGR ON the power value increased by 8.776% and torque value increased by 16.667% with respect to previous BS-III engine. Since the introduction of the new auxiliary system shows the gradual effect on the engine. According to the BS-IV norms the taper exhaust re-circulated by Oil Mist Separator (OMS) and to increase the performance the implementation of EGR Cooler is done. Also the BS-IV norms are achieved successfully in chassis dynamometer.

Speed controller design for three-phase induction motor based on dynamic ad...IJECEIAES
Three-phase induction motor (TIM) is widely used in industrial application like paper mills, water treatment and sewage plants in the urban area. In these applications, the speed of TIM is very important that should be not varying with applied load torque. In this study, direct on line (DOL) motor starting without controller is modelled to evaluate the motor response when connected directly to main supply. Conventional PI controller for stator direct current and stator quadrature current of induction motor are designed as an inner loop controller as well as a second conventional PI controller is designed in the outer loop for controlling the TIM speed. Proposed combined PI-lead (CPIL) controllers for inner and outer loops are designed to improve the overall performance of the TIM as compared with the conventional controller. In this paper, dynamic adjustment grasshopper optimization algorithm (DAGOA) is proposed for tuning the proposed controller of the system. Numerical results based on well-selected test function demonstrate that DAGOA has a better performance in terms of speed of convergence, solution accuracy and reliability than SGOA. The study results revealed that the currents and speed of TIM system using CPIL-DAGOA are faster than system using conventional PI and CPIL controllers tuned by SGOA. Moreover, the speed controller of TIM system with CPIL controlling scheme based on DAGOA reached the steady state faster than others when applied load torque.

Comparison Analysis of Indirect FOC Induction Motor Drive using PI, Anti-Wind...IAES-IJPEDS
This paper presents the speed performance analysis of indirect Field Oriented Control (FOC) induction motor drive by applying Proportional Integral (PI) controller, PI with Anti-Windup (PIAW) and Pre- Filter (PF). The objective of this experiment is to have quantitative comparison between the controller strategies towards the performance of the motor in term of speed tracking and load rejection capability in low, medium and rated speed operation. In the first part, PI controller is applied to the FOC induction motor drive which the gain is obtained based on determined Induction Motor (IM) motor parameters. Secondly an AWPI strategy is added to the outer loop and finally, PF is added to the system. The Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) technique is used to control the voltage source inverter and complete vector control scheme of the IM drive is tested by using a DSpace 1103 controller board. The analysis of the results shows that, the PI and AWPI controller schemes produce similar performance at low speed operation. However, for the medium and rated speed operation the AWPI scheme shown significant improvement in reducing the overshoot problem and improving the setting time. The PF scheme on the other hand, produces a slower speed and torque response for all tested speed operation. All schemes show similar performance for load disturbance rejection capability.

Elevation, pitch and travel axis stabilization of 3DOF helicopter with hybrid...IJECEIAES
This research work introduces an efficient hybrid control methodology through combining the traditional proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller and linear quadratic regulator (LQR) optimal controlher. The proposed hybrid control approach is adopted to design three degree of freedom (3DOF) stabilizing system for helicopter. The gain parameters of the classic PID controller are determined using the elements of the LQR feedback gain matrix. The dynamic behaviour of the LQR based PID controller, is modeled in state space form to enable utlizing state feedback controller technique. The performance of the proposed LQR based LQR controller is improved by using Genetic Algorithm optimization method which are adopted to obtain optimum values for LQR controller gain parameters. The LQR-PID hybrid controller is simulated using Matlab environment and its performance is evaluated based on rise time, settling time, overshoot and steady state error parameters to validate the proposed 3DOF helicopter balancing system. Based on GA tuning approach, the simulation results suggest that the hybrid LQR-PID controller can be effectively employed to stabilize the 3DOF helicopter system.

Tuning a complex multi-loop PID based control system requires considerable experience. In today's power industry the number of available qualified tuners is dwindling and there is a great need for better tuning tools to maintain and improve the performance of complex multivariable processes. Multi-loop PID tuning is the procedure for the online tuning of a cluster of PID controllers operating in a closed loop with a multivariable process. This paper presents the first application of the simultaneous tuning technique to the multi-input–multi-output (MIMO) PID based nonlinear controller in the power plant control context, with the closed-loop system consisting of a MIMO nonlinear boiler/turbine model and a nonlinear cluster of six PID-type controllers. Although simplified, the dynamics and cross-coupling of the process and the PID cluster are similar to those used in a real power plant. The particular technique selected, iterative feedback tuning (IFT), utilizes the linearized version of the PID cluster for signal conditioning, but the data collection and tuning is carried out on the full nonlinear closed-loop system. Based on the figure of merit for the control system performance, the IFT is shown to deliver performance favorably comparable to that attained through the empirical tuning carried out by an experienced control engineer.
