Geography And Crime Analysis
1.INTRODUCTION
This is 21st century and Information Technology plays a vital role in each and every
parts of human life. In last couple of decades Technology has extended its usability
beyond the personal use and played the major role in crime analysis and detection.
The places or locations for crime is continuously growing therefore, identification of
the crime hot spots can play a vital role in developing an effective criminal justice
intervention to reduce crime.
Geography plays a significant influence on the crime as the characteristics of the
landscape, placement of the building, open spaces determines the nature of the crime.
If these geographical data is combined and used together with incident databases it
will become an effective way to determine and analyse where, how and why crime
occurs. Mapping incident locations is an effective way to identify spatial
relationships and gain valuable insight into criminal activity. ... Show more content on

A New Generation Of Workers
A new generation of workers are in the midst of taking over the workforce:
Generation Y, also known as the Millennials. Baby boomers are ending their
employment life cycle and transitioning into retirement, leaving Millennials as the
soon to be dominant generation in the workforce. By 2020, more than 46% of
labour will be provided by these millennials. (Weber, 2016) As this transition
begins, a new trend within the workforce has also begun. Modern workers are no
longer spending their entire career with one employer. In fact, according to data
from the Bureau of Labour Statistics, the average worker today only stays at each
of his or her jobs for 4.4 years. However, the expected tenure of the workforce s
youngest employees is about half of that. Ninety one percent of Millennials (born
between 1977 1997) expect to stay in a job for less than three years, meaning they
would have 15 to 20 jobs over the course of their working lives. (Meister, 2012)
With career development and work life balance on the forefront of the millennial
mind, gone is the era of employers using base salary in order to compete for the
worker talent pool. They now have to consider the total compensation package,
which includes all forms of money, benefits, services, and other perks eligible to the
employee when competing with other firms, as modern employees have begun to
place just as strong of an importance on benefits as they do salary. The various
benefit packages offered by employers play a
Working At Fedex Express, My Boss Brian Buchwald
Working at FedEx Express, I had the privilege to interview my boss Brian
Buchwald. We share the same work ethic background with the both of us serving in
the military but serving in different branches. Brian served in the Army for 6 years,
and then served in the Air Force for another 6 years after exiting the Army. Brian
just recently got promoted to Operations Manager at FedEx Express after being with
the company for only 3 years, which is quite incredible From the interview with
Brian, his comments really brought back memories of the work ethics and leadership
from the military. Even though, Brian exited the military as an E 6 in the Air Force
and I exited the Army as an E 5. A lot of managers would have to attend classes and
training... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being in a Leadership position doesn t mean that the managers or supervisors get
to do whatever they want, but they do have to lead by example. There have been
times where the both of us have experienced certain events where we can hold
specific friendships with our soldiers. Better way to explain is when the uniform
comes on, it s strictly business. We couldn t hang out with the soldiers outside of
work so that there wouldn t be any favoritism in any working environment with our
soldiers. It s all about the way he treated his soldiers and how he took care of his
soldiers. From his words, If you take care of your people, your people take care of
you. It s not all about dictatorship, yelling at your soldiers and the rank on your
chest. Taking care of your people is a manager s first priority coming from Brian.
Being the umbrella or the shield for you people is basically what managers do to
take care of their employees. Every company, whether if it was in the military or
outside of the military, that every employee has to follow and that s the proper
Chain of Command. Basically if anything happens inside of work, whether if it s an
incident or a traffic citation, he would want to be informed immediately just so he
could keep his group off the radar from the Senior Operations Manager. When talking
Tobacco Industries And The Tobacco Industry Essay
Smoking can most easily be defined as the most harmful habit to the human body.
This is one of the biggest problems today that are killing people in the United States
and around the world. Big tobacco companies are making billions of dollars off of
people dying and getting people hooked on cigarettes or any tobacco product. Many
states are now challenging these companies by raising the tobacco age so young
adults and teens will not become hooked or be dependent on tobacco. For tobacco
companies young adults and teens are their main target audience that they depend on
them so that cash keeps pouring in. Tobacco companies kill their best customers.
Specifically, I am addressing the question: In the U.S., to what extent do age related
restrictions on the marketing and sale of tobacco products affect the major tobacco
industries and their customers?
Largely thanks to the importance of education and anti smoking campaigns, the
prevalence of smoking on young adults is decreasing, but with new inventions such
as vaping and e cigarettes this could backfire (Kendall, 2013). Nonprofit
organizations such as ASH: Action on Smoking Health which enforces tobacco
control on a global scale to protect health and counter the tobacco industry.
Envisioning a world free of tobacco related damage, disease, and death. By taking
action to educate the public and working towards public policies at the local, national
and global levels (ASH, 2016). which Thus cigarette smoking kills more than
The Problem Of Recycling Waste Removal Crew
I ve been wondering for years why every trash can doesn t have a recycle bin right
next to it.
On a recent trip to Germany to visit my brother, I was standing in his German
kitchen, with its small refrigerator and European design cabinets, looking at three
separate bins to dispose of household waste. He explained to me which waste goes
in which bin and expressed with great vigor that if the city s waste removal crew
found an appropriate things in a certain been they would simply leave the whole
been on the curb and the government also had very stiff fines in place for people
who didn t dispose of items properly. Wow, what a great system!
When we first started recycling waste from our homes some years ago we had to
separate glass, plastic, paper, aluminum, etc. I even had a compost in my backyard.
My family of five only created a small grocery sacks worth of trash to go in a landfill
every 2 to 3 days. I still announce this tidbit with pride whenever the subject of
recycling or waste comes up. And the town we lived in had a very poor curbside
recycling system so we stacked bins in our garage and every few weeks when we
drove the hour away to visit grandparents, who had a much more vigorous
recycling system in town, we would load all the recycling up in the back of our car
and put it in the appropriate bins. Today, my family of only two makes no more
waste than we used to.
In years past, when there was less abundance in the world, if a family could afford to
throw away

Irish Potato Famine Research Paper
With its ability to grow in even the worst soil conditions, potatoes were in
abundance in the early nineteenth century in Ireland. A visit to the countryside
would mean seeing endless rows of potato bushes in fields as far as the eye could
see. The potato became the staple of Irish diet, with one third of the population
depending on the root by 1844. But within a year, more than half of the potatocrops
were destroyed by the blight and thus began the Irish Potato Famine. The failure of
the potato crop and its subsequent starvation was attributable to one thing:
monocropping. Irelandactually wasn t alone in fighting blights leading up to the Great
Famine. In fact, much of northern Europe was met with the same disease in their
potato crops. The difference was that other countries fought off the disease by
cultivating different varieties of potatoes and other crops whereas Ireland was left
vulnerable to the blight due to its dependence on one strain of the potato, the Irish
Lumper. Along with crop failure and starvation, monocropping leads to numerous
other environmental and nutritional damages, solvable with one easy solution: grow
different crops! But as the saying goes: money is the root of all evil, and in the case
of monocropping, the economic profits take control of the business.
With widespread famines ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The remaining amounts of crop are mainly produced into unhealthy foods, which is
also detrimental to human nutrition and diet. Much like the lack of genetic diversity
in the plants from the beginning, the end food products are also low in nutritional
diversity, with most of our food containing corn, soy, or wheat products. Not only is
monocropping bad for the environment, but it is also just as bad for our
Wedding Traditions Of Islam, Hinduism And Christianity
For this final project, I chose to research and educate myself on the concept of
marriage in addition to wedding traditions in Islam, Hinduism and Christianity. I
chose Islam for the reason that it is the religion that I am the most familiar with,
Hinduism because I have heard so much about wedding ceremonies from my friends
and it had interested me, and finally Christianity because I wanted to build my
knowledge of it. This assignment has demonstrated that marriagein all three of these
religions is a critical institution that is carried with the utmost respect and sacredness
due to hundreds of years of maintaining the importance. I have learned many things
from this research assignment that have surprised me in such positive ways and have
definitely added on to my knowledge of that religion. For this assignment, I have put
an emphasis on studying the concept of divorce, views of marriage in the eyes of the
law, the traditions of the sermon and wedding ceremony and roles of the husband and
wife within that partnership.
Islam is one of the most popular religions in the world with an estimated 2 Billion
individuals who consider themselves to be Muslim. As a religion that has heavy
prominence of obeying the laws of God to ensure that they will go to Heaven after
death, Muslims believe that God has created Men and Women as a company with one
another so that they can have children. With this in mind, essentially they are created
to assist each other with educating their
Short Summary Of Guy Fawkes Night
In 2027 the United Kingdom is ruled as a fascist police state and a man who calls
himself V was being experimented on by the government at a concentration camp
called Larkhill. On November 5, 2027 V escaped from Larkhill by creating a
bomb, blowing up the building, and killing most of his fellow inmates and his
captors. Four years later, V starts to plan to get his revenge on the government.
Around the same time, Evey Hammond, an employee at the British Television
Network, breaks curfew while on her way to visit a friend, when Fingermen, the
secret police, catch her and attempt to sexually assault her. V rescues her and takes
her to a rooftop, where they watch the first step of V s plan: blowing up the Old
Bailey. The next day, V interrupts a broadcast and encourages the people of
Britain to revolt and meet him outside of the Houses of Parliament on next year s
Guy Fawkes Night (November 5th). The police search the building for V and
almost catch him, when Evey pepper sprays the police officer; after she pepper
sprays the police, she is knocked unconscious. V must decide whether he leaves
her to be tried for treason or he rescues her, as she did him. However, the rescue
comes with a price, Evey must stay in his home for one year until the government is
overthrown. Over the year, Evey s loyalty is tested, the people of Britain turn against
the government, and V prepares for his grand finale: Blowing up the Houses of
Parliament. V for Vendetta is a revolutionary and riveting
The World War II By Kenneth D. Rose
In the decades since World War II, there have been many attempts to glorify this
generation through the media. Myth and the Greatest Generation: A Social
History of Americans in World War II by Kenneth D. Rose, attempts to pare back
the delusions of grandeur that often characterize histories of the World War II
generation to show society as it was rather than how we have come to perceive it.
Rose claims that often times when commentators focus on wars, they choose
stories that are meant to make the population feel good as opposed to showing the
realities. As a result, in retrospect wars seem to generate heightened patriotism and
national unity (1). In this book, Rose hopes to give true honor to the Americans of
this generation, not by glorifying their contributions, but by presenting a picture
more in line with the historical record, hoping that in doing so his work will
deliver a more accurate portrayal of Americans at war (3). Rose chooses not to rely
heavily on secondary source material, but rather to highlight the first hand accounts
of individuals who experienced the war. He does so in order to give them proper
credit but also to show that the so called Greatest Generation was not without flaws,
and was indeed an ordinary generation that lived through traumatic events that tested
their character (7). Rose divides the book into four parts, focusing first on Americans
Abroad. He looks at the accounts of not only the soldiers themselves, but also the war
correspondents

Why Did Ashoka Build An Imperial Empire
India could not maintain an imperial government and instead went with regional
kingdoms. Together Kautalya ad Chandragupta built a bureaucratic administration.
Chandragupta later left his thrown to become a monk. His son then took over the
thrown but the high point of the empire was throughout the reign of his grandson
Ashoka. Ashoka established a capital and ruled through a tightly organized
bureaucracy. He was unique however in his communication of policies. They were
written in natural stone all around the empire. Asoka s Empire depended on large
corps of officials to administer policies and a very strong army. The Guptas did
something that not many people did, their local government, administration and the

You will find there are a lot of similarities between all the empires/kingdoms. In
Persia they invested a lot of resources into the construction of roads and highways.
They did this to enable communications and military mobility. As trading grew
different regions began to specialize what they traded. Certain products were
expected of each area. In China the first emperor built roads to aid communication
and the movement of armies. Han Wudis actions while in the throne rapidly
consumed the empires surplus wealth. India s Magadha conquered neighboring
states and gained control of overseas trade between India and Burma. By 260 B.C.E
Mauryan had control of former Kalinga trade routes. In Greece Spartans used iron
bars for money. Their colonies provided merchants with not only fertile land but
access to copper, zinc, tin and iron ores of Italy. Caravan trade transported luxury
goods because they couldn t carry heavier goods. Finally in Rome, they founded a
large regional state in Italy that gave them access to industry. Commercial wealth
enabled rulers to maintain powerful states and a strong military. They annexed
Carthaginian possessions in Africa and Iberia and used them to fund imperial
expansion. Julius Cesar spent tons of money on public spectacles to help him gets
posts in the republican government. Construction provided employment which caused
population to grow dramatically then forced the economy to sky
Alienation, By Karl Marx
Alienation has been widely reported in the area of work by Karl Marx on the
example of a worker. According to him work for the laborer is an external element
that does not belong to his essence. By doing work one feels unhappy which
prevents him from developing the physical and spiritual energy and causes the ruin of
the spiritual and mortification of the flesh. Marx notes that work of the laboreris an
external because it is not his own, does not belong to him, and the worker should
not be in the process of working for himself, but for someone else. He calls it loss
of self, placing himself in sacrifice, and calls it a work in which man alienates.
Marx contends that man gets to be seen as a product worth just the work he makes
and man is further lessened to a subsisting creature bereft of any limit of flexibility
with the exception of the will to work. According to Marx there are four forms of
Alienation that exists in capitalist society. Viewing the worker as a product of labor
means that the more the worker works hard, the more production of the product
hence not giving them time to either relax or attend to family issues. The worker
spends most of the time in the object and their life does not belong to them anymore
but belongs to the product they are manufacturing. This means that the greater the
object the worker is producing, the less himself. I remember the times when my good
friend started to work in certain software company where

Howard Thurman s Ramification Of Fear
FEAR is one of the persistent hounds of hell that dog the footsteps of the poor, the
dispossessed, and the disinherited. There is nothing new or recent about fear it is
doubtless as old as the life of man on the planet. Fears are of many kinds fear of
objects, fear of people, fear of the future, fear of nature, fearof the unknown, fear of
old age, fear of disease, and fear of life itself
(Howard, Thurman, 26). ). Howard Thurman, states some accurate truths. There are

who rides a motorcycle, shouted the small girl in a bright pink tutu under the

always been the child who wanted to break away from the pack and be different
from everyone else. I may no longer wantto be a ballerina, for I realized my hatred for
itchy tights, or a truck driver, I am unable to sit for that long, but I still seem to

others is to be the leader that they can follow. I have always been a people person
and seem to feed off of other s ideas and needs. It is the people that I meet in my
job, clubs, and activities, that make me long for more in my life and to help them

To begin this letter, I would first like to congratulate you on your impressive fifteen
years of service for Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE), and I have been affected
by your wonderful service to such a prosperous company. With an impressive

have enjoyed, you have indirectly touched countless people throughout time and have

man, I shall get to the point of my writing you, and perhaps give insight to the
consumer side and help with continued success. Since the PlayStation 3was
introduced into the market, as well as the competing consoles, downloadable content
has become commonplace among many games to this date and has been the bane, or

Now, as a businessman, your first responsibility to the company is to ensure success
and to partner with the companies and organize the content for the console. Which, is
any sound business strategy, to earn revenue and get a return on profit (or

Essay on Depression in Hopkins Sonnets of Desolation
Depression in Hopkins Sonnets of Desolation
Gerard Manley Hopkins (1844 1889) was, first and foremost, a man of the cloth. He
seems to have set his gifts in musical composition, drawing, and poetry at a distant
second to his ecclesiastical duties for most of his life, causing him to experience
terrible bouts of depression. Hopkins poured out this depression in what are known
as the Sonnets of Desolation, including I wake and feel the fell of dark, not day, Not,
I ll carrion comfort, Despair, not feast on thee, and No Worst, there is none. Pitched
past pitch of grief. In his 1970 essay entitled The Dark Night of the Soul, Paul L.

Though all of his works contain strong religious themes, he seems never to have
been able to fully reconcile his art with his job, his chosen way of life. Mary, mother
of us, where is your relief? he asks the Virgin Mary, but it seems he is crying out to
the heavens for succor yet at the same time utilizing his poetic talent to soothe and
comfort himself through emotional expression (No Worst, line 11).
Another important factor in Hopkins depression is that he was not successful as a
priest. According to Mariani, there is no hard evidence that Hopkins ever felt he
had been the triggering action for even one convert. Yet conversions are what he
wished for his whole life (54). In the poem I wake and feel the fell of dark, not day,
it is clear that, perhaps as a result of this failure (and in his view, coupled with his
artistic indulgences,) Hopkins feels distanced from and powerless to communicate
with God: And my lament/ Is cries countless, cries like dead letters sent/ To dearest
him that lives alas! away (line 6). Here Hopkins laments his lack of
accomplishment as a preacher, and lets fall a sliver of doubt regarding his poetic
prowess; he has sent many letters to Bridges containing unpublished poems are those

echoes the sentiments of detachment from God found in No Worst as the narrator

Inca And Aztecs Similarities
The Incas and the Aztecs are two civilizations that were in the New World. They
were two societies that were left alone for many years until the era of exploration
started. These two civilization have some similarities and differences, but those
similarities and differences made up the civilization. One of the similarities major is
that both empires had social classes. They both were polytheistic, one of the favored

the Aztecs had their empire in Mexicoand the Incas had their empire in South

Genocide from the Jews in the Holocaust to the Mayans in...
Throughout world history, many manifestations occurred which led to horrific
demeanors. In 1981, Todd Strasser wrote a fictionalized novel known as The Wave,
based on a real life event about an experiment. This experiment, conducted in 1969 by
Ron Jones in Palo Alto, California, proves how effortlessly fascism can corrupt
people. This experiment begins with a student s question about the Holocaustwhich
Jones cannot answer. The Holocaust was a horrific event that occurred from 1933 to
1945. This atrocity was initiated by Adolf Hitler, who tortured and murdered over
eleven million Jewish people in extermination camps. Today, the Holocaust is
considered genocide, a word that was first coined in 1944 by a lawyer by the name of

In the final years of the war, Himmler and Eichmann proposed the concept to place
the Jewish people in camps and eliminate the rest of the Jewish people before the
war was over; this concept was known as the Final Solution. These SS soldiers are
the main cause of the Holocaust because they were the group that fully helped
consummate Hitler s idea to remove the Jewish people out of Germany and, in the
end, they gave the orders to mass murder any Jew alive. In the pre war years, the
Nazi Party wanted to find a solution to the Jewish question meaning what to do with
them ( Final Solution Learning). On July 31, 1941, Heydrich submitted the draft of
the measures he proposed to undertake to implement the desired final solution of the
Jewish Question ( SS ). In the fall of 1941, the Nazi soldiers implemented the plan
and began to effectuate it by experimental gassings in the Auschwitz extermination
camp and then moving forth to surrounding camps ( Final Solution Learning).
Between then and 1945, the top SS soldiers continued to give the orders to torture,
mass shoot, gas (especially in constructed extermination camps), enforce murderous
labor, and other means ( Holocaust ). The ideas, which were thought of by Himmler,
Eichmann, and Heydrich, are what allowed for this brutality to cause such a large
scale genocide. Despite the eleven million
Athletics And College Athletic Association
Athletics and academics go hand in hand when it comes to college athletes, after
all, the NCAA (National College Athletic Association) states that the players are
students first, and athletes second. Because they are student athletes, obtaining
their degree and furthering their education should come first and foremost; above
how many games they win, how many points they score and if the school wins a
National Championship. As many know or have seen, this is not always the case
especially when it comes to Division I FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision)
Universities and revenue generating sports (e.g. Men s Basketball and Football).
One example of academics taking a back seat to athletics is the term Academic
Clustering , which is defined as 25% or more of players from a team being
enrolled in a single major. Furthermore there are super clusters which is 50% or
more of players as well as mega clusters 75% or more of players are enrolled in a
single major (Fountain Finley, 2011, p. 25). Academic clustering is an important
topic that requires additional research, as there s limited research done thus far on the
topic. Educators, students and parents should be aware of this issue, given that when
students are clustered into majors that may be deemed easier and/or more convenient
/flexible , they then lose out on a college experience they would enjoy by majoring in
something they are interested in. Furthermore, there is an issue of athletes graduating
with degrees that
Chris Gardner Decisions
Throughout this movie, Chris Gardner makes a lot of decisions that will affect his
achievements. One decision he decides to make is when he sees a random guy get
out of a bright red Ferrari and asks what he does for a living and if he had to go to
college. The guy told him he is a stockbroker and said all he needed was to be good
with people and numbers. Chris wanted to get a job that would allow him to give
his son everything he needed so they would not be staying in homeless shelters.
Chris then decides that he is going to go to the Dean Witter building and see if there
are any openings in the stockbroker division. When Chris went to the building he got
an application and applied for a six month internship. Another decision that Chris

Io Research Paper
The Io Volcano Observer (IVO) is one mission under the New Frontiers program
planned to launch on May 29th, 2021 and reach Jupiter by 2026. Led by Alfred
McEwen of the University of Arizona, it is focused on observing one of Jupiter s
satellites, Io, which has been deemed one of the best satellites for studying tidal
heating and the histories of terrestrial planets due to its active volcanic surface. The
aforementioned tidal heating is directly correlated to the habitable zones of planetary
systems and, thus, could help us better understand how a planetary system becomes
habitable and which planetary systems, aside from our own, currently are. IVO also
plans to understand the interior structure of Io, particularly the melting fraction of the

The United States And Communist Russia
The United States and Communist Russia endured a complicated relationship in the
first half of the 20th century. In the early 1940 s the U.S. had encouraged an
alliance with the Soviets against their common enemy, Nazi Germany. This short
lived accord began to deteriorate as WW II ended. By 1947 U.S. policy toward the
Soviet Union had shifted from one of cooperation to a policy of containment. In
1949, when the Soviets tested their first atomic bomb, it was a widely held belief in
the U.S. that the Russians were an untrustworthy enemy with plans to invade the
United States. America s mood turned on American Communists, labeling them
traitors and Russian spies. Underlying a domestic sense of well being in the United

HUAC was created by the federal government in 1938 to investigate the subversive
activities of citizens belonging to Communist organizations. The Committee had
powers to subpoena and hold witnesses in contempt of congress, punishable by
imprisonment. Following WW II, as anti communist sentiment rose in the U.S., the
Committee enjoyed strong popular support. Being a Communist was not a crime
so most of the people convicted served sentences for perjury or contempt of
Congress. Another tool used to punish citizens suspected of communist affiliations
was a practice called the Blacklist. Having one s name on the Hollywood Blacklist
guaranteed that person would be unable to find work in the motion picture

The Doctrine Of Direct Effect And State Liability
The Issue relates to the application of the doctrine of direct effect, and possibly the
application of indirect effect and state liability if require in pursuant of invoking the
EU Transfer of Pensions Directive (TPD) in a UK national court (NC) in light of the
UK s national legislation which evidently fails to completely encompass the directive.
Directives are a secondary source of European Union(EU) legislation which in
accordance with Art 288 of the EC: are binding on the EU Member States (MSs) to
which it is addressed; they outlines objectives that need to be achieved; they is not
directly applicable; they instructs the alteration of domestic law so that it complies
with EU policy. Implementation rests in the jurisdiction of MSs, nonetheless
directives must be established by a specified deadline as a failure to can be a breach,
and MSs can be held to account before the European Court of Justice (CJEU).
Alfredo
For Directive (TPD) to be relied upon before UK court Alfredo must show that it is
directly effective. The doctrine of Direct Effect was originally established by the
CJEU in Van Gend en Loos . When an EU provision is directly effective it confers
invokable obligations and rights on individuals. This occurs when the following
limited conditions are established: the terms must clear, precise, and unconditional
and not be reliant of further legal measures .
It is questionable as to whether or not the TPD is clear and precise, but in accordance

Essay Explain Why Your Business In Mexico Is Exposed To...
hapter 1
a.Discuss the corporate control of your business. Explain why your business in
Mexico is exposed to agency problems.
There are many reasons that our business in Mexico is exposed to agency
problems. With our company being an MNC, it would be hard for our managers and
top executives to keep track of what is going on in Mexico at our language school.
Another agency problem is that our company could face is that our employees might
not follow the standards and uniformity by which we in the US abide. These two
agency problems could in turn have a negative impact on shareholder wealth.
b.Assume that you have been approached by a competitor in Mexico to engage in a
joint venture. The competitor would provide the classroom facilities (so you would
not need to rent classroom space) while your employees would teach the classes. You
and the competitor would split the profits. Discuss how your potential return and
your risk would change if you pursue the joint venture.
If we entered in a joint venture as a company, both our risk and potential return
would be reduced. We would reduce our risk because by sharing profits with our
newly found partner, we would have less money that is dependent on the exchange
rate of the Mexican peso. Additionally, the partnership that we would form would
alleviate costs because our partner would provide a classroom to our company. This
would decrease our risk because we would not need to pay for rent, eliminating an
expense. Since
The Truth Behind Sea Turtle Endangerment
The Truth behind Sea Turtle Endangerment
It s no shock as to why sea turtles are endangered. After years of human s destructive
nature on earth s oceans, sea turtles have been left with polluted water and a
destroyed ecosystem. Turtles must watch out for all types of danger. For example,
not only do they have to worry about sharks, sea birds, and other predators of the
ocean, but the most menacing of all is humans. Not only do humans eat turtles, but
the plastic and other toxic waste left behind by humans have left sea turtles almost
extinct.
Thousands of sea turtles each year are illegally poached for their meat in the coastal

all other species of sea turtles, the leather back is considered endangered and might
become extinct in the future.
Although sea turtles are endangered, they is hope. The green sea turtle, once very
common, have started to increase in numbers in some places indisputably because of
protection. In 1989, the United States forced all shrimp nets to be fitted with turtle
exclusion devices(TED s). Regardless of how sea turtles are protected in the United
States, there are still some regions where enforcement is difficult because of illegal
fishing and egg hunting. If stricter worldwide enforcement of sea turtles was
established, they one day might not be endangered. To help save sea turtles, reserves
and national parks need to protect nesting beaches, control pollution, fishing
practices, regulate trade, and restock former nesting
Electrochemistry Effects Of Ketamine
While Ketamine does have some stereochemistry effects, used properly and if needed
with other anesthetics and at the correct dosage and indication, there is nothing so
extremely unique or bad about it in veterinary medicine that I would need to
overcome in order to use it in animal patients.
There is one unique issue with Ketamine that all veterinarians must be aware of and
need to take into consideration: substance abuse. The illicit use of Ketamine by
humans as a recreational drug is a concern to a veterinarian for a couple of reasons.
The dissociate effects of Ketamine that have been attributed to the R form, results in
a general feeling floating or out of body experiences in human patients during

Essay Comparing Two Open Universities

When the Open University of the United Kingdom (OU UK) opened its doors in
1969 it was considered a revolution in higher education by many pedagogues. In the
forty years that followed 80 similar higher open education institutes were
established (Peters, O. 2010, p57 81). The common denominator of this new
generation of distance universities is that they are open. During the OU UK
inauguration Lord Crowther stated: We are open as to people ; as to places ; as to
methods ; and finally to ideas (cf. Tunstall 1974, in Peters, O. 2010, p 62). What this
openness entails, depends largely on the social, economic, and political circumstances

Literature possess the capability to vastly influence the world, and those who find a

literature publicized as many thoughts and critical views as T.S. Eliot, and by
disseminating his opinions throughout the literature world, Eliot found a way to
communicate new perspectives and tastes in literature (Worthen). Born in the fall of
1888, T.S. Eliot grew up to become one of the most influential poets of all time, as he

Containing stories, news, and opinions of both T.S. Eliot and others who wrote
about him, The Letters of T.S. Eliot offer an inside perspective on Eliot s life.. In
Volume 1 of the revised edition of the letters Patrick Query describes how T.S. Eliot
felt so much passion for culture and how it must improve (Letters, Volume 1). In the
volume, the writer states that Eliot started a movement to modernize literature all on
his own. Eliot contained such a strong passion for making the world a better place,
that as society generally acted apathetic towards life, Eliot strived for a culture where
people actually inserted energy and passion into life. Also, in John Worthen s
biography of T.S. Eliot, the author believes Eliot focused the entire masterpiece of
Four Quartets on illustrating to his audience despite painful times in life, people must
focus more on the beauty of life (Worthen). Devoting much of his literature career to
impacting society, Eliot often focused on changing the lack of enthusiasm culture
contained. Besides driving culture forward in passion for life, Eliot lived at the
forefront of contemporary literature. Before the 20th century, literature followed
many traditions and guidelines throughout its poems, essays, novels, and plays, but
T.S. Eliot played a significant role in bringing about literary modernism. One of Eliot

Seeing Through Our Tongue: The Liminal Nature Of Language
Introduction
One universal aspect of the human condition is communication. Finding some way to
convey the abstract concepts of our minds in such a way they can be understood by
others is a fundamental necessity of being a human in culture as we understand it. It
is with this understanding that the question has been asked; if language is the medium
through which our perceptions are channeled, how much are our perceptions
distorted by language? How much is our language distorted by our perceptions? Is
this relationship something that could be manipulated, and how effective would it
be? Thankfully, these are questions that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of The Latino Community
As of 2014, the Latino community has become the largest minority group in the
United States, making up around 17% (roughly 55 Million) of the population alone
(CNN News). However, due to the lack of news and media coverage that Hispanics
/Latinos receive, people are uninformed about the community. The small portion of
the media that does talk about the Latino community often has false information that
tends to leave a negative impression of Latinos. By informing Americans about
Latinos, they will get an idea of what 17% of the county is actually made of. Even
though some people believe that there is enough media coverage in the Latino
community, there should be more positive media coverage for the Latino community.
Americans need to know about what is actually happening in the Latino community,
because Latinos are the largest minority group in the U.S, Latinos have a strong work
ethic, and the Latino community has made a major impact of the American culture.
Americans should know more about the Latino community because Latinos

Research Paper On Florence In The Renaissance
Florence: Heart of the Renaissance By Yusra Farooq
During the 15th century, Florence was the home of the Renaissance and the
birthplace of our modern western world. You can enjoy much of the greatest art
created, during that exciting age, today like Michelangelo s David or Botticelli s
Birth of Venus. There s also Ghiberti s glorious 3D bronze gates, Fra Angelico s
serene beauty of paintings and the Duomo that kicked off the Renaissance. After the
fall of ancient Rome, Europe wallowed in centuries of relative darkness. There was
little learning, commence, or travel. Then, in about 1400, in Florence, there was a
Renaissance. This exciting rebirth of the culture of ancient Greece and Rome
swept from Florence to all across Europe. Artists rediscovered the wonder of nature
and the human body. Their art expressed the optimism and confidence of the new
age. The Western civilization made up for lost centuries with huge gains in
science, economics, and art. Florence was the center of it all and for a good
reason; it was where capitalism was replacing feudalism and being the middleman
of trade between west and east, the city had money and it knew what to do with it.
Wealthy merchants and banking families, like the Medici who ruled Florence for
generations, commissioned splendid art to show their civic pride. And Florence
unleashed an explosion of innovation by recognizing and paying creative genius like
no one else.
The Renaissance was an age of humanism. A time of confidence,

In fact, according to data from the Bureau of Labour Statistics, the average worker today only stays at each of his or her jobs for 4.4 years. However, the expected tenure of the workforce s youngest employees is about half of that. Ninety one percent of Millennials (born between 1977 1997) expect to stay in a job for less than three years, meaning they would have 15 to 20 jobs over the course of their working lives. (Meister, 2012) With career development and work life balance on the forefront of the millennial mind, gone is the era of employers using base salary in order to compete for the worker talent pool. They now have to consider the total compensation package, which includes all forms of money, benefits, services, and other perks eligible to the employee when competing with other firms, as modern employees have begun to place just as strong of an importance on benefits as they do salary. The various benefit packages offered by employers play a

  • 6. Tobacco Industries And The Tobacco Industry Essay Smoking can most easily be defined as the most harmful habit to the human body. This is one of the biggest problems today that are killing people in the United States and around the world. Big tobacco companies are making billions of dollars off of people dying and getting people hooked on cigarettes or any tobacco product. Many states are now challenging these companies by raising the tobacco age so young adults and teens will not become hooked or be dependent on tobacco. For tobacco companies young adults and teens are their main target audience that they depend on them so that cash keeps pouring in. Tobacco companies kill their best customers. Specifically, I am addressing the question: In the U.S., to what extent do age related restrictions on the marketing and sale of tobacco products affect the major tobacco industries and their customers? Largely thanks to the importance of education and anti smoking campaigns, the prevalence of smoking on young adults is decreasing, but with new inventions such as vaping and e cigarettes this could backfire (Kendall, 2013). Nonprofit organizations such as ASH: Action on Smoking Health which enforces tobacco control on a global scale to protect health and counter the tobacco industry. On a recent trip to Germany to visit my brother, I was standing in his German kitchen, with its small refrigerator and European design cabinets, looking at three separate bins to dispose of household waste. He explained to me which waste goes in which bin and expressed with great vigor that if the city s waste removal crew found an appropriate things in a certain been they would simply leave the whole been on the curb and the government also had very stiff fines in place for people who didn t dispose of items properly. Wow, what a great system! When we first started recycling waste from our homes some years ago we had to separate glass, plastic, paper, aluminum, etc. I even had a compost in my backyard. My family of five only created a small grocery sacks worth of trash to go in a landfill every 2 to 3 days. I still announce this tidbit with pride whenever the subject of recycling or waste comes up. And the town we lived in had a very poor curbside recycling system so we stacked bins in our garage and every few weeks when we drove the hour away to visit grandparents, who had a much more vigorous recycling system in town, we would load all the recycling up in the back of our car and put it in the appropriate bins. Today, my family of only two makes no more waste than we used to. In years past, when there was less abundance in the world, if a family could afford to throw away

A visit to the countryside would mean seeing endless rows of potato bushes in fields as far as the eye could see. The potato became the staple of Irish diet, with one third of the population depending on the root by 1844. But within a year, more than half of the potatocrops were destroyed by the blight and thus began the Irish Potato Famine. The failure of the potato crop and its subsequent starvation was attributable to one thing: monocropping. Irelandactually wasn t alone in fighting blights leading up to the Great Famine. In fact, much of northern Europe was met with the same disease in their potato crops. The difference was that other countries fought off the disease by cultivating different varieties of potatoes and other crops whereas Ireland was left vulnerable to the blight due to its dependence on one strain of the potato, the Irish Lumper. Along with crop failure and starvation, monocropping leads to numerous other environmental and nutritional damages, solvable with one easy solution: grow different crops! But as the saying goes: money is the root of all evil, and in the case of monocropping, the economic profits take control of the business. With widespread famines ... Myth and the Greatest Generation: A Social History of Americans in World War II by Kenneth D. Rose, attempts to pare back the delusions of grandeur that often characterize histories of the World War II generation to show society as it was rather than how we have come to perceive it. Rose claims that often times when commentators focus on wars, they choose stories that are meant to make the population feel good as opposed to showing the realities. As a result, in retrospect wars seem to generate heightened patriotism and national unity (1). In this book, Rose hopes to give true honor to the Americans of this generation, not by glorifying their contributions, but by presenting a picture more in line with the historical record, hoping that in doing so his work will deliver a more accurate portrayal of Americans at war (3). Rose chooses not to rely heavily on secondary source material, but rather to highlight the first hand accounts of individuals who experienced the war. He does so in order to give them proper credit but also to show that the so called Greatest Generation was not without flaws, and was indeed an ordinary generation that lived through traumatic events that tested their character (7). Rose divides the book into four parts, focusing first on Americans Abroad. He looks at the accounts of not only the soldiers themselves, but also the war correspondents

  • 16. Alienation, By Karl Marx Alienation has been widely reported in the area of work by Karl Marx on the example of a worker. According to him work for the laborer is an external element that does not belong to his essence. By doing work one feels unhappy which prevents him from developing the physical and spiritual energy and causes the ruin of the spiritual and mortification of the flesh. Marx notes that work of the laboreris an external because it is not his own, does not belong to him, and the worker should not be in the process of working for himself, but for someone else. He calls it loss of self, placing himself in sacrifice, and calls it a work in which man alienates. Marx contends that man gets to be seen as a product worth just the work he makes and man is further lessened to a subsisting creature bereft of any limit of flexibility with the exception of the will to work. According to Marx there are four forms of Alienation that exists in capitalist society. Viewing the worker as a product of labor means that the more the worker works hard, the more production of the product hence not giving them time to either relax or attend to family issues. The worker spends most of the time in the object and their life does not belong to them anymore but belongs to the product they are manufacturing. This means that the greater the object the worker is producing, the less himself. I remember the times when my good friend started to work in certain software company where productivity

He seems to have set his gifts in musical composition, drawing, and poetry at a distant second to his ecclesiastical duties for most of his life, causing him to experience terrible bouts of depression. Hopkins poured out this depression in what are known as the Sonnets of Desolation, including I wake and feel the fell of dark, not day, Not, I ll carrion comfort, Despair, not feast on thee, and No Worst, there is none. Another important factor in Hopkins depression is that he was not successful as a priest. According to Mariani, there is no hard evidence that Hopkins ever felt he had been the triggering action for even one convert. Yet conversions are what he wished for his whole life (54). In the poem I wake and feel the fell of dark, not day, it is clear that, perhaps as a result of this failure (and in his view, coupled with his artistic indulgences,) Hopkins feels distanced from and powerless to communicate with God: And my lament/ Is cries countless, cries like dead letters sent/ To dearest him that lives alas! away (line 6). In the final years of the war, Himmler and Eichmann proposed the concept to place the Jewish people in camps and eliminate the rest of the Jewish people before the war was over; this concept was known as the Final Solution. These SS soldiers are the main cause of the Holocaust because they were the group that fully helped consummate Hitler s idea to remove the Jewish people out of Germany and, in the end, they gave the orders to mass murder any Jew alive. In the pre war years, the Nazi Party wanted to find a solution to the Jewish question meaning what to do with them ( Final Solution Learning). On July 31, 1941, Heydrich submitted the draft of the measures he proposed to undertake to implement the desired final solution of the Jewish Question ( SS ). • 25. Athletics And College Athletic Association Athletics and academics go hand in hand when it comes to college athletes, after all, the NCAA (National College Athletic Association) states that the players are students first, and athletes second. Because they are student athletes, obtaining their degree and furthering their education should come first and foremost; above how many games they win, how many points they score and if the school wins a National Championship. As many know or have seen, this is not always the case especially when it comes to Division I FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) Universities and revenue generating sports (e.g. Men s Basketball and Football). One example of academics taking a back seat to athletics is the term Academic Clustering , which is defined as 25% or more of players from a team being enrolled in a single major. Furthermore there are super clusters which is 50% or more of players as well as mega clusters 75% or more of players are enrolled in a single major (Fountain Finley, 2011, p. 25). Academic clustering is an important topic that requires additional research, as there s limited research done thus far on the topic. Educators, students and parents should be aware of this issue, given that when students are clustered into majors that may be deemed easier and/or more convenient /flexible , they then lose out on a college experience they would enjoy by majoring in something they are interested in. Furthermore, there is an issue of athletes graduating with degrees that

Led by Alfred McEwen of the University of Arizona, it is focused on observing one of Jupiter s satellites, Io, which has been deemed one of the best satellites for studying tidal heating and the histories of terrestrial planets due to its active volcanic surface. The aforementioned tidal heating is directly correlated to the habitable zones of planetary systems and, thus, could help us better understand how a planetary system becomes habitable and which planetary systems, aside from our own, currently are. By 1947 U.S. policy toward the Soviet Union had shifted from one of cooperation to a policy of containment. In 1949, when the Soviets tested their first atomic bomb, it was a widely held belief in the U.S. that the Russians were an untrustworthy enemy with plans to invade the United States. There are many reasons that our business in Mexico is exposed to agency problems. With our company being an MNC, it would be hard for our managers and top executives to keep track of what is going on in Mexico at our language school. Another agency problem is that our company could face is that our employees might not follow the standards and uniformity by which we in the US abide. These two agency problems could in turn have a negative impact on shareholder wealth. b.Assume that you have been approached by a competitor in Mexico to engage in a joint venture. The competitor would provide the classroom facilities (so you would not need to rent classroom space) while your employees would teach the classes. You and the competitor would split the profits. Discuss how your potential return and your risk would change if you pursue the joint venture. If we entered in a joint venture as a company, both our risk and potential return would be reduced. We would reduce our risk because by sharing profits with our newly found partner, we would have less money that is dependent on the exchange rate of the Mexican peso. Additionally, the partnership that we would form would alleviate costs because our partner would provide a classroom to our company. This would decrease our risk because we would not need to pay for rent, eliminating an expense. Since

Eliot contained such a strong passion for making the world a better place, that as society generally acted apathetic towards life, Eliot strived for a culture where people actually inserted energy and passion into life. Also, in John Worthen s biography of T.S. Eliot, the author believes Eliot focused the entire masterpiece of Four Quartets on illustrating to his audience despite painful times in life, people must focus more on the beauty of life (Worthen). Devoting much of his literature career to impacting society, Eliot often focused on changing the lack of enthusiasm culture contained. Besides driving culture forward in passion for life, Eliot lived at the forefront of contemporary literature. Before the 20th century, literature followed many traditions and guidelines throughout its poems, essays, novels, and plays, but T.S. Eliot played a significant role in bringing about literary modernism. One of Eliot s great works, Four Quartets
