Preschool Classroom Observation
When I was observing the preschool lab there were many different activities that we kids were
involved in. There was one table for snack time, two tables for the kids who wanted to play with
play do, and then there were several other kids who were playing outside. In the room there were
about 12 preschoolers and 4 teachers. I noticed that each teacher stayed with a group of about 3
4 kids. This is important because each teacher can focus on the three or four kids they are with
at that time. If the kids need any help or assistance a teacher was always close by and paying
attention to that individual child s needs. The room was very well organized and the kids were
spread out so that not all of the kids were doing one activity at a time. Among

Social Attitudes Of Freedom And Control By George Orwell...
Despite their unique perspectives and social attitudes of freedom and control, both George Orwell
and Fritz Lang explore issues of class struggle and the impact of technology on humanity through
their medium of choice, expressing these serious concerns by forming a dystopic outlook of the
future world. Lang s science fiction film Metropolis encapsulates the tensions of his wartime
experience, and the political situation of the 1920s Weimer period in Germany, in which Lang
tapped into the country s power struggles, issues of poverty and conflict, as well as the clear
fascination with technological developments, through a heavily stylised futuristic environment.
Nineteen Eighty Four by George Orwell, on the other hand, is a satirical... Show more content on

The workers are depicted in uniform black, trudging in synchronised robotic movements in an
overcrowded environment, which reinforces their lack of identity and alluding to machinery,
their dehumanisation and conformity to the atrocities of the industrialist environment. This is
contrasted with the light shades and wide open spaces above the depths, reflecting the lifestyle
of freedom enjoyed by the members of the upper city in the eternal garden, including the
protagonist Freder. The repeated reference to the Mediator, between the head and the hands
postulates the increasing class struggle in Lang s time. The iris effect on Maria emphasizes her
angelic nature, and adoption of Christian values. As a devout catholic, Lang intended Maria to
adopt notions of equality which are obsolete in the society of Metropolis, the head of the city,
Joh Frederson, possessing a capitalist outlook. He is the embodiment of power over the workers
as suggested by his body posture and stern facial expressions. Moreover, Maria acts as a catalyst
to the Mediator, who is Freder, as suggested by the chiaroscuro lighting on his face in the
catacombs. Freder s actions in the Moloch scene in which he reaches out his hands to help the
workers represents his Christian nature and foreshadows his ability to undo the inequality of class
in which Metropolis has been founded. Similarly, British author George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty
Four (1984) written in 1949 explores a totalitarian society

Criticism Of Media Convergence
Media convergence in the digital era constructs a global flat earth , allowing for interaction of old
and new mediums across various media platforms. Technology has become an increasingly
dominant means of communication as it allows for information to be stored and shared across great
distances. Flew (2005) suggests that this globalisation permissible through digital and online
communication has effected cultural change. Individuals can communicate from any part of the
world, irrespective of physical and geographic barriers via an interactive digital mediaenvironment
across networked ICT Devices. Thus he suggests that new media is synonymous with digital media
and therein digitisation the translation of information into binary code,... Show more content on

Kindle s remediate books but improve certain features, inclusive of altering typography style and
size, offering highlighting tools, built in dictionaries and allowing the reader to purchase new
books through the device (Hitt 2013). Since its introduction in 2007, approximately 43.7 million
Kindle e readers have been sold as of late 2014 (Trefis Team 2014). The Kindle does not seek to
replace physical books; rather it uses technological convergence to store dense digital information
on small, portable physical spaces. This isn t to say that new mediums have replaced older formats
altogether; on the contrary, they have altered them to suit the change in how we communicate.
One could argue that the decline of traditional media at the hands of media convergence prompted
the incorrect presumption that old media was being superseded by the new (Lugmayr Dal Zotto
2015, pp. 4). Conversely, modern commentators have argued that new and old media interact
across different media forms and platforms. Jenkins asserts that new media technologies enabled
the same content to flow through many different channels and assume many different forms
(2006, pg. 10). Acland (2007) echoes this sentiment, reiterating that new digital media refashion
old media formats. Vogue is a global high fashion magazine with 304 000 Australian readers in

Discretion In Police Discretion
According to Dempsey et al (2016), Discretion means the availability of a choice of options or
actions one can take in a situation (p. 142).
An example of when police discretion was not used in a controlled and regulated manner was
when Mr. Samuel Dubose was shot and killed on July 19, 2015, over his front license plate
missing on the vehicle he was driving. Mr. Dubose was driving just south of University of
Cincinnati around 6:30 p.m. when Officer Tensing began following him (Capehart, 2015). The
university police share jurisdiction with city officers on streets around the campus (Capehart,
2015). However, where the driver was pulled over and killed at was outside of the shared
jurisdiction. According to Capehart (2015), The University of Cincinnati police officerRay Tensing
lied about the events leading up to the shooting and the officer s body worn camera exposed the
truth of what really happened that day. In the video, the officer is asking Mr. Dubose repeatedly
for his driver s license . Mr. Dubose replies that he has a driver s license but does not have it with
him. Mr. Dubose also states that the missing license plate is in the glove box. Officer Tensing
asks, What s that bottle on the floor? Mr. Dubose reaches down, picks up the bottle of gin and
gives it to the officer (Capehart, 2015). The officer starts to open the driver s door and tells Mr.
Dubose to remove his safety belt; Mr. Dubose pulls the door closed and restarts his car. The officer

in order to keep your products relevant. With Lululemon focused on such a niche activity it will be
important that they explore other markets within the sports apparel industry in the future so as to
stay relevant. We can see the company s first steps in doing just this when they recently introduced
their men s apparel line. A summary of the athletic apparel industry s external environment are
listed in Exhibit 1. Driving Five Forces Lululemon faces constant competitive pressures from the
five main driving forces: rivals/competitors, new entrants, substitute products, suppliers bargaining
power, and buyers bargaining power.( Thompson, Peteraf, Gamble, and Strickland) Below is a
detailed analysis of the competitive forces noted in Exhibit 2. The rivalry among existing
competitors is strong. It is becoming increasingly harder to develop new and unique products
based solely around a small niche activity. There are only so many aspects of yoga that can be
explored and that products can be developed to accompany. Although Lululemon was the first, new
competitors are seeing the profit to be had in this niche market and are entering with the goal of
creating new more creative strategies to compete with Lululemon and take part of their large market
share. (Morning Star) The threat of new entrants is moderate. Although this niche market is

Report on Moore s Law
Moore s Law was first predicted in 1965 and hence adjusted in 1975 by Gordon Moore; and, it
was popularized by Carver Mead after the adjustment in 1975. In Moore s first law, it state a
hypothesis that that the number of transistor in a dense integrated circuit doubles approximately
every two years. The Moore s second law express which can be described as the economic side of
Moore s Law expresses that the cost of production of semiconductor fab would increase at a
steady rate. In brief, both of the Moore s Laws express the idea that the transistors in the
integrated circuit will be doubled every two years while the cost of the production will be halved at
the same rate of doubling.
The Moore s Law was not such accurate from 1965 to 1975. At that time, the time for doubling is
about 12 months when the hypothesis was first in 1965. However, it decreased to about 18 24
months in the last ten years. Therefore, many people thought the hypothesis was wrong. Even
after the adjustment of Moore s law, the questions still exist. Many people believed that
development of transistors would meet a physical limit leading to the end of Moore s law.
However this time, the fact prove that they were wrong. In that following 30 years, the Moore s
Law was very accurate. As the following diagram shows, the transistors in circuit was about 2300
in early 1970s. Then it increased to 29000 in the later 70s. Hence, the

Organizational Culture And The Lincoln Electric Company
ORGANISATIONAL CULTURE AND THE LINCOLN ELECTRIC COMPANY
The success of a business is intimately tied to the success of its culture. To understand better how
organisational culture is created and maintained we will examine one of America s most
successfully managed companies, the Lincoln Electric company. We will examine many aspects of
the company that contribute to its culture, such as the influence of the company s founders, the
golden rule, the incentive management plan, the performance appraisal system, the merit pay plan,
the bonus plan, the way people communicate within the company and the management style. In
analysing these we will reveal a strong people oriented culture formed and maintained for over a
century.

Consequently, there has never been an attempt at unionising within the company and this is partly
due to there not being a need. When workers are not being exploited, there is no need for them to
fight back.
James Lincoln was the son of a congregational minister and his Christian values were a guiding
principle in his managerial decisions. When viewing his employee policies, we can see the golden
rule at work. The needs of employees at every level are thoughtfully considered and aligned with
the needs of the company. More than that, the customer is also given great consideration and the
creation of products with real value is given providence over marketing or advertising. There is a
genuine commitment to creating real worth rather than short term profits. James treats both the
customers and the employees with respect and dignity, creating a culture is that is people oriented.
The only people involved in the business that are not see as important are the shareholders. They
are not actively involved in the business and their interests are therefore seen as the least important.
This attitude may have protected Lincoln from a gradual change toward a more aggressive or sales
oriented culture.
Lincoln s incentive management plan is not only exemplary in its structure, but also in its
implementation. For example, piece work has been shown to increase worker productivity, but has
also been widely abused as a means of rewarding workers less for the work

Analysis Of Truman Capote s Cold Blood
To judge is to irreparably arbitrate; the judged seldom find recourse if an error lies in the judge s
logic. In criminal proceedings, the courts judge alleged criminals and deliver verdicts. A
frequently encountered issue is determining guilt. Critics of the de facto court system cite moral
culpability as an ideal that the courts fail to attain. Priding its moral superiority, the United States
surprisingly lacks some of the basic rights to justice afforded to others elsewhere. America
purports to have a duty to serve justice, yet the justice system provides little leeway to those whose
crimes are not their fault. This notion of unfulfilled justice appears in In Cold Bloodby Truman
Capote. When Dick and Perry commit murder, the circumstances are such that Perry cannot be
entirely accountable for the actions he took. Perry bears no responsibility for the crimes he
committed; storied psychological illnesses and pitfalls compromised his sense of right and wrong,
rendering him incapable of intervening in his planned crime with Dick.
Perry never enjoyed to a hospitable, supportive family environment. Tragedy filled his early
years, spoiling his innocent view of the world too early. Evidence of this broken family life is
most evident in the commentary of Perry s sister. When asked about Perry, Perry s sister states
that She had said she was afraid of Perry, and she was, but was it simply Perry she feared

changed the celebration of the Eucharist to sacrifice rather than a sacrament. The elements of the
cannon of mass that Luther removed were the thanksgiving (anamnesis) and the invoking of the

veneration of the bread and wine. Although Luther rejected the cannon of mass also known as the
eucharistic prayer for theological reasons, he never objected to the Eucharistic on the grounds it
was a prayer. In his Formula, Missae, Luther attached the verbs in prayer form to the

Trends In College Sports
Rutgers Trending: Down
Despite winning their first conference game of the season by 23, Rutgers still remains on the

seed with very little chance of winning any games in the tournament.

Northwestern in the territory of bubble teams Temple, St. Bonaventure and LSU, and a first round
matchup against a slumping Michigan team gives Northwestern a chance for a quality win to build

Types of Image Compression for Medical Imaging Essay
Medical imaging, as we all know, is the process of taking images of various parts of the human
body for diagnostic and surgical purposes. Some of the popular medical imaging modalities are X

Since, these images contain clinical data of extreme importance for treatment follow ups and are
acquired at cost of radiation exposure, infrastructure, money and time involved. Thus, once
acquired, the medical imagingdata should not be disposed off casually, instead it should be retained

In other words an optimal compression ratio should be chosen so as to suit the needs of medical
examination, without compromising with its diagnostic value [2].
1.2 Types of Compression
Image compression can be classified into two types viz. lossless and lossy compression.
Lossless compression is the technique of reducing the size of an image without any virtual loss of
information. It is also known as reversible form of image compression since the image obtained
after compression and then decompression resembles the original one. Typical compression ratios
that can be achieved ranges from 1.5 to 3.6 [3].
Conversely, lossy or irreversible form of compression techniques are those in which some or the
other information is always lost. Though, lossy compression algorithms are capable of
compressing images at ratios much higher than that achieved from lossless compression thus,
ensuring faster rates of transmission and lesser storage space. However, the regenerated image is
not guaranteed to be an exact replica of the original image, as some data is lost permanently, which
will cause error during decompression. Typical compression ratios achieved may range from 5 to 50.
Though lossy data compression is often acceptable but the game is not that easy when it comes to
medical images. The data from medical imaging examination should possess certain requirements
for fidelity [3].
1.3 Barriers to image compression

The Pros And Cons Of Public Administration
Cohen s theory is centered around the difficulties faced in the administration of public good and the
delivery of services to the general population. He examines the best devices for use in taking care of
the issue that arises. His position also infers the need to utilize gifted open administrators that will
be compelling in their assignments through innovativeness and development. These new thoughts
are designed to take care of the issue with the administration in the twentieth century. Alternate
attributes laid out by Cohen for people in general directors are the capacity to think basically and
shape occasions. The motivation behind why Cohen incorporates this contention is that in the
contemporary past, open administrators have been liable to the occasions happening around the
general population comforts. They have not possessed the capacity to fight these occasions and in
the most cases, occasions tend to assume control over the control. He likewise contends that the
picture of the general population administrators is portrayed on their ability. Cohen closes
contentions by the certainty of general society supervisors and how it is vital in taking care of the
issues that they face in their exercises. Cohen bases this contention with the Vietnam War (Cohen,
2013). The friendly administration is the primary part of any legislature. The skill of an
administration can be utilized as a measure to evaluate how robust the legislature is in broad
daylight administration issues.

The Corruption Of The American Dream In American Literature
Echoing the feelings of the American people, American authors resonated deeply with their readers.
American writers epitomize what it means to be an American through all periods of time.
Additionally, they discuss the American experience in a way that is truthful, showing both the
glamorous side, and the underlying problematic portion. Consequently, readers feel as if pieces of
American literaturemimic their life, as if the story they are reading could be one of their own.
American authors write of what is of necessity, not just want the people want to hear. They write of
the ruinous American dream, and the pressure of perfection stemming from this simply impossible
desire. The American people become so infatuated with the idea of the American dream, that they
begin to believe that the impossible is possible. Furthermore, American authors believe that the
American dream convinces individuals that they are capable, and even further, need the things that
in reality they don t. This is ultimately destructive to individuals living out the American experience.
Similarly, American authors detail the corruption that exists within society, one that resulted from
the rigid and restraining class system. Due to an overwhelming presence of the separation of the
different classes in the United States, immorality and wrongdoing has erupted. The people of the
different classes act in a certain way that is considered wrong, and destructive toward the other

Melting Point Range Of Unknown 8 And Maleic Acid
The results in Table 1 from part 1 of the experiment are accurate in melting point ranges for each
compound. The samples went from a powdery white to a clear liquid. Urea is a little bit higher
than from its melting point range of 132В°C 133В°C and trans cinnamic acid is in its melting
point range of 132В°C 135В°C. They are both pure compounds because they stayed relatively
close to their melting point ranges. The 50/50 mixture has a lower melting point and a broader
melting point range because each compound acts as an impurity in the other. The results in Table
2 from part 2 of the experiment have higher melting points than their supposed melting point
range. The samples went from a powdery white to a clear liquid. The unknown 8 compound was
guessed to be maleic acid since its melting point was in the range 137В°C 140В°C. For the final
trial, however, both unknown 8 and maleic acid had higher melting points out of the range and the
50/50 mixture melted first. This was because the maleic acid used was made from two different
salts causing the melting point to be slightly off. In this case, maleic acid is the correct compound

It was a failure for the Qing in the long term for it aroused Western grievances in the Chinese

The failure for the Chinese government to respond effectively was because of its construct that

Dramatic Monologue In Porphyria s Lover By Robert Browning
Robert Browning s Porphyria s Lover is a narrative poem, since it delineates the events taking
place at a cottage (line 9) during one night ( tonight , line 1). It is a dramatic monologue which
reveals the speaker s character by what he says and does. The continuing action of the poem (i.e.
one event after the other) as well as the speaker s frenzy are indicated by the immense number of
run on lines (e.g. and still it grew / While I debated what to do , line 34f; in one long yellow string

The Impact Of Martin Luther Spread Of Protestantism
Luther s spread of Protestantism primarily brought disunity to not only the Holy Roman Empire,
but also to England. The Catholic Church had recently just built the St. Peter s Cathedral and
started to sell indulgences to make more money off of the people. Martin Luther, a monk, was
against the Catholic Church and their teachings and indulgences were the last straw. He believed
that all a person needs to reach heaven is faith. Luther set out preaching his words opposing and
questioning the church and their faulty beliefs. People listened and followed him full of trust and
faith. However, this caused the Reformation and the beginning of a new religion. The spread of
Protestantism among Europe brought impactful periods of disunity within the Holy Roman Empire
and England, yet unlike the Holy Roman Empire, England was unified in the end. The entire
reformation brought more disunity than unity from the beginning in the Holy Roman Empire
(Germany) after Martin Luther s Reformation. It started with Luther s Ninety Five Theses in 1517,
which was sparked by the Catholic church selling indulgences and spreading false ideas. Within
his theses, he called out the church for their wrong teachings and corrupt clergy. His words,
actions, and opinions inspired people and gave them a new hope, faith, and religion. He caused a
divide within the Holy Roman Empire and was the main source of protestantism. Martin Luther
provoked even more division when he said, A Christian man

Synthesis Of Pnitroaniline From Aniline Essay
This experiment takes a longer time then other experiments, taking approximately three weeks to
complete. It involves a three step synthesis to make pnitroaniline from aniline and then we will be
characterizing our product using the new and useful technique of thin layer chromatography (TLC).
We will not be doing the first part of this experiment only parts two and three.
Electrophiles are reagents which are attracted to other electrons and in order to bond to
nucleophiles, they accept electron pairs. Electrophiles attack benzene and this results in hydrogen
substitution. Nonetheless, this isn t thermodynamically favoured due to a sp3 hybridized carbon
being generated. This disrupts the cyclic conjugation. In order for the aromatic ring to be
regenerated, a proton will be lost at the sp3 hybridized carbon. This means pnitroaniline can be
prepared by electrophilic aromatic substitution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Acetyl groups are electron withdrawing. This reduces the activity of the lone pair on the nitrogen
either in a protonation reaction or an oxidation reaction. The conditions required for nitration are
extremely acidic. Protonation of the nitrogen of aniline causes it to become a very strong
deactivating group.
In the second part of the experiment, we will be performing the nitration of Acetanilide. We will
first need to form the nitronium ion in situ by the dehydration of the nitric acid. The dehydrating
agent for this experiment is sulphuric acid. The nitronium ion is an extremely strong and powerful

Some social taboos broken are worse than others. While Divine holds the title of filthiest person

William Edward Burghardt Dubois And The Harlem Renaissance
Labeled as a radical, William Edward Burghardt DuBois had a solid idea for African American
progression. Described variously as the most outspoken civil rights activist in America, and the
undisputed intellectual leader of a new generation of African Americans , Du Bois was
considered the inspiration for the literary movement known as the Harlem Renaissance
(Reuben). Known as the Talented Tenth , in his essay he mentions the Negro race, like all races,
being saved by its exceptional men. Du Bois believed that if a small group of black persons
attained college educations they would be leaders of the race and encourage the rest to do the
same and reach a higher level of education. As a co founder of the NAACP and the long time
editor of its magazine The Crisis, Du Bois nurtured and promoted many young and talented African
Americans (Reuben). Underlying his controversial notion of the talented tenth, was his belief that
true integration will happen when selected blacks excel in the literature and the fine arts. Du Bois
stated, If this be true and who can deny it three tasks lay before me, first to show from the past that
the Talented Tenth as they have risen among American Negroes have been worthy of leadership,
secondly, to show how these men may be educated and developed, and thirdly, to show their relation
to the Negro problem (Chesnutt et al. 34). Contrary to Booker T. Washington, Du Bois believed that
if you wanted something accomplished you went right at it.

Descriptive Essay About A Marching Band
Reset! I became overly acquainted with that word my freshman year of high school marching
band. It seemed to be the only word our director, Mr. Miller, would say to us, demanding the band
to return to their original positions and march the same several phrases tirelessly. To us, reset
became synonymous with torture. Little did I know, that repugnant little word was meant to
prepare me for one spectacular night. A night that gave family a whole new meaning.
The night of October fourth, on a crisp, autumnal Saturday, the Washington High School marching
band and color guard prepares for their biggest competition of the season. It is late, well past ten.
The moon is high, and the inky sky is peppered with brilliant, luminous stars. The millions of tiny
spotlights cast their ominous glow upon the color guard. Each of us is dressed impeccably in a
cropped denim jacket, white tank top and black spandex pants. Our hair is gelled back in slick
buns, our facial features exaggerated with heavy makeup and our lips carefully accented with
ruby red lipstick as the centerpiece of our costumes. Julie, our beloved instructor, shouts at us to
rehearse our choreography once more, even though we know it like the back of our hands. The
chilly October wind sweeps wiry strands of scorching red hair in front of Julie s face, obscuring her
motherly features like a mask. Her ruddy, freckled face is stern, but her eyes are soft with
adoration as she looks upon her color guard.

Photography Is A Moment, An Instant
Photography is like a moment, an instant. You need a half second to get the photo. So it s good to
capture people when they are themselves. This is a quote from Patrick Demarchelier, who is a
french fashion photographer. Photography captures a moment that won t happen again, so you
have to make sure you re prepared. There s a lot of aspects that come in when capturing a
photograph, the most important being aperturesize, shutter speed, and the ISO.
One of the most important aspects of taking a good photo is aperture. Aperture is the hole that
light travels through in the camera. An easy way to understand aperture is to compare the parts
of a camera to the human eye. The aperture is like the pupil; how much light that enters the retina
(camera sensor) depends on the size of the pupil. Typically, larger aperture size equals more light,
just like a larger pupil means there s more light. So, the easiest way to remember aperture, is by
associating it with your pupil. Large pupil size equals large aperture, while small pupil size equals
small aperture .
Our cornea is like the front element in lens; it gathers all the external light, then bends it and
passes it to the iris. Another important part of the camera that affects the aperture is the
diaphragm. The diaphragm is the iris of the lens that is in control of the aperture size. The
diaphragm s purpose is to block out all light that doesn t go to the top.
Aperture are expressed in f numbers, or f stops. They are a way

that eventually ceased to exist. To start off with, the Mayans existed earlier in history than the
Incas. The Mayans existed from 1000 BC to AD 1697 and no one is quite certain what wiped out

Both the Incas and the Mayans had spoken languages. In fact, the Mayans had several spoken

cities were hieroglyphics and art depicting their everyday life. They even had a written language as
well. The Incas, however, only had a spoke language and no written language. I believe this also
goes to show the intellectual capacity of the Mayans versus that of the Incas. While the Incas were
intelligent, they were no competition for that of the Mayans. When many people think of the Incas
and Mayans, they think of brutality. This is a common misconception though. Although the
Mayans were brutal, the Incas were not. They preferred to settle disputes amicably and peacefully.
Even though they were peaceful, they still would become viscous fighters when pressed. The
Mayans were, by far, much more keen to brutality than the Incas. So, as stated before in this essay,
the Incas and Mayans had quite a few things in common but they were much more different than
similar. Although both civilizations failed, at one point they flourished greatly. They were

Wes Anderson Influence

rooms and very sophisticated equipment with the main objective of encouraging the production of
nanocomponents for the industrial sector. In the same vein, Argentina and Brazil do not have a
program to discuss the implications and risks of nanotechnology, or a plan to supervise the
activities related to nanotechnology research and development. In this regard, it is clear that the
distance between Latin America and its European and North American counterparts is expanding.
Due to the absence of a National Nanotechnology Initiative, MГ©xico has turned its attention to

Spaying And Neutering Essay
The two sources I used in the last research summary were scientific resources because my topic has
a scientific background. Both of them provided information on the history of the topic and went
into great detail on facts about spaying and neutering. Both are the articles I used had similar
information pertaining to the subject of spaying and neutering. In the first one, The History of
Spaying and Neutering Animals it provided a few statistics about the overpopulation of pets, such
as there were 300,000 homeless pets. In the other article, Pediatric Spay/Neuter, it specifically
talked about spaying and neutering animals while they re extremely young. Although both of the
articles were on the same topic, they shed light on spaying and neutering as a whole with specific
topics in between. Now that I researched the history of spaying and neutering, there are many pros
and cons that have been recognized by many.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In both of the articles, Spaying Your Female DogPros and Cons and Neutering Your Male Dog
Pros and Cons, it mentions that one major disadvantage for spaying and neutering is that it
increases the risk of hemangiosarcoma, which is a deadly form of cancer. This type of cancer
attacks the heart and spleen in the animal s body. In other words, while some types of cancer are
prevented, some may come up. Also, it can cause hypothyroidism because it affects the endocrine
system. Although it can be treated by medication, it still stressful for the dog and owner. Of
course all surgeries are potentially dangerous and complications can pop up at any time. There
could be internal bleeding, a bad reaction to the medicine given before or after surgery,
inflammation, etc. In both spaying and neutering, the procedure has to be done at the perfect time,
not too early and not too late, or it could cause hip dysplasia and bone

MFA Thesis Exhibition
Last week I visited the George Caleb Bingham Gallery to see an artist s work. Her name was Mary
Margaret Sandbothe and her collection of art was at the MFA Thesis Exhibition. Now, I am not one
for looking at art and being able to interpret it easily, but when I arrived to see her work I was
pleasantly surprised. I was in awe of artwork at first glance.
First, what I noticed was that the main overlook of all her pieces included same sex relationships
or couples. Furthermore, it exemplified families with same sex parents. For example, there was one
piece that had presented two dads with an African Americanchild. This shows the reality of what
the world is like today. People don t want to accept change, but she is putting it out there ... Show

One piece presents two men lying on a blanket in a park enjoying the day outside. Normally, all
couples do this. Now, the society we live in people would look at this like it was uncommon, but
slowly people are starting to accept this as the norm. The other piece shown is two men sitting at a
table with their son seemingly helping him with his homework like a happy family. Yes, she is
presenting how families do work with same sex marriages if you are open to it. At least that is
what I see in my opinion.
Lastly, she had another piece of two men looking marry while holding a newborn baby. This
could possibly mean that they had adopted or fostered a child. It s a beautiful sight because they
are so happy and blessed to have this baby in their life. Again, Sandbothe is prominently making a
statement here about our society and its view on same sex relationships.
Now, with that being said, she had many pieces presented in her work at this exhibit and I found
it very intriguing how bold she was. She is not only speaking for the LGBT community, but also
speaking to our society and how we should be more accepting of change. The world is
continuously evolving and we must not sit back and expect it to go back to the way it was. We
must embrace

Unusual Languages of the World
Jenn Beckmann
Part 1
2. Define pidgin and creole and explain the difference between them.
Pidgins and creoles are both languages that occur when two people of different languages are
communicating (p.232). In order to define a pidgin, it is important to look at the process in
which a pidgin develops. When contact between speakers of two different languages occurs and
they begin to create ways of communication through words and phrases, pre pidgin is developing.
A pidgin develops as a new language when the original group or several groups of people begin
using the pre pidgin to communicate as the common language. The pidgin is then being used as the
lingua franca (p. 233). Depending on the use of the language, there is also a restricted pidgin and
expanded pidgin. Restricted pidgin is only used when necessary for communication and
typically has small vocabulary and little grammar. Expanded pidgin is a pidgin that is used
everyday and in different entities such as religion or the government. This type of pidgin has an
expanded vocabulary and grammar. On the other hand, a creole is a pidgin that children learn
and use as their first language. With children learn the language as their first, it will expand to
community usage. Gramatics are much more complex in a creole as is the vocabulary of the
language (p.234). There are differences between a pidgin and creole that can be defined. A pidgin
is spoken between people of different languages with less vocabulary and

Football Hooliganism
Football Hooliganism Overview The destructive and unruly behavior of extraordinarily zealous
football fans is referred to as football hooliganism. The participants of football hooliganism who
support their respective football clubs demonstrate all kinds of violent behaviors including
scuffling, sabotage and intimidation (Another sorry outbreak of the England disease, 2004). This
behavior is most often based on the rivalry that exists between different football clubs or teams
and can give rise to great conflicts once the matches have ended and sometimes even before that.
Sometimes when these conflicts arise during the match at the stadium, the people who practice
hooliganism are arrested by the police, meanwhile most of the times the supporters of the rival
teams choose to confront each other at places that are far away from the stadiums so as to get
away from the police arrests. Some immensely violent acts of hooliganism have been seen by the
witnesses by these supporters of football. The conflicts that exist between these people can be as
small as fistfights and sometimes so intense that these people make use of the deadly weapons
against each other. The use of glass bottles, sports bats, pistols, knives, rocks and machetes has also
been seen in football hooliganism. There have been cases in the past when hooliganism and
conflicts inside the stadium during an ongoing football match resulted in panic and injuries were
inflicted on the fans that were there. When these

Analysis Of Unbroken By Laura Hillenbrand
The American industrialist Henry Ford once said, Life is a series of experiences, each of which
makes of bigger, even though sometimes it is hard to realize this. For the world was built to
develop character , and we must learn that the setbacks and grieves which we endure help us in
our marching onward. In Laura Hillenbrand s nonfiction book Unbroken, the fearless Louis
Zamperini epitomized Ford s words when, he survived imprisonment for over 2 years only after
his World War II bomber crashed into the middle of the Pacific . Thankfully Louie s fearlessness
helped him return home and share his story with the world. At the beginning of his life, Louie s
delinquent behavior led to him barely escaping the eugenicists of the cull. In... Show more content

With P.T.S.D( Post Traumatic stress disorder) this made problems with most his relationships.
Being married to the lovely Cynthia Applewhite, their marriage went south at the alcohol
problems causing nightmares that became memories. As Cynthia recalls , [she] pleading with
Louie to stop drinking. It did no good (372).The alcohol has been the effect of their partnership,
especially after the abuse passed back and forth from each other. Eventually with his wife filing
for divorce, Louie sobered up and got help from Billy Graham. Louie had once said , If you look
into the heavens tonight, on this beautiful California night, I see the stars and can see the
footprints of God,...and he s not too busy running the whole universe to count the hairs on my
head and see a sparrow when it falls, because God is interested in me ... God spoke in creation
(381). Allowing this to heal his drinking and abuse problems, and concentrate on god,his family,
and future. However he was still stuck on finding the Bird , up until October 1, 1950 when he
passed on. Relieving him from the final weights resting on his shoulders. After reading the
biography of Louis Zamperini s life by Laura Hillenbrand, it s obvious Louie s fearlessness carried
him through numerous obstacles. Louie, fearlessly determined to conquer insurmountable odds
without breaking, proved to audiences that an ordinary man can transform

  • 2. Preschool Classroom Observation When I was observing the preschool lab there were many different activities that we kids were involved in. There was one table for snack time, two tables for the kids who wanted to play with play do, and then there were several other kids who were playing outside. In the room there were about 12 preschoolers and 4 teachers. I noticed that each teacher stayed with a group of about 3 4 kids. This is important because each teacher can focus on the three or four kids they are with at that time. If the kids need any help or assistance a teacher was always close by and paying attention to that individual child s needs. The room was very well organized and the kids were spread out so that not all of the kids were doing one activity at a time. Among ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Social Attitudes Of Freedom And Control By George Orwell... Despite their unique perspectives and social attitudes of freedom and control, both George Orwell and Fritz Lang explore issues of class struggle and the impact of technology on humanity through their medium of choice, expressing these serious concerns by forming a dystopic outlook of the future world. Lang s science fiction film Metropolis encapsulates the tensions of his wartime experience, and the political situation of the 1920s Weimer period in Germany, in which Lang tapped into the country s power struggles, issues of poverty and conflict, as well as the clear fascination with technological developments, through a heavily stylised futuristic environment. Nineteen Eighty Four by George Orwell, on the other hand, is a satirical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The workers are depicted in uniform black, trudging in synchronised robotic movements in an overcrowded environment, which reinforces their lack of identity and alluding to machinery, their dehumanisation and conformity to the atrocities of the industrialist environment. This is contrasted with the light shades and wide open spaces above the depths, reflecting the lifestyle of freedom enjoyed by the members of the upper city in the eternal garden, including the protagonist Freder. The repeated reference to the Mediator, between the head and the hands postulates the increasing class struggle in Lang s time. The iris effect on Maria emphasizes her angelic nature, and adoption of Christian values. As a devout catholic, Lang intended Maria to adopt notions of equality which are obsolete in the society of Metropolis, the head of the city, Joh Frederson, possessing a capitalist outlook. He is the embodiment of power over the workers as suggested by his body posture and stern facial expressions. Moreover, Maria acts as a catalyst to the Mediator, who is Freder, as suggested by the chiaroscuro lighting on his face in the catacombs. Freder s actions in the Moloch scene in which he reaches out his hands to help the workers represents his Christian nature and foreshadows his ability to undo the inequality of class in which Metropolis has been founded. Technology has become an increasingly dominant means of communication as it allows for information to be stored and shared across great distances. Flew (2005) suggests that this globalisation permissible through digital and online communication has effected cultural change. Individuals can communicate from any part of the world, irrespective of physical and geographic barriers via an interactive digital mediaenvironment across networked ICT Devices. Since its introduction in 2007, approximately 43.7 million Kindle e readers have been sold as of late 2014 (Trefis Team 2014). The Kindle does not seek to replace physical books; rather it uses technological convergence to store dense digital information on small, portable physical spaces. This isn t to say that new mediums have replaced older formats altogether; on the contrary, they have altered them to suit the change in how we communicate. One could argue that the decline of traditional media at the hands of media convergence prompted the incorrect presumption that old media was being superseded by the new (Lugmayr Dal Zotto 2015, pp. 4). Conversely, modern commentators have argued that new and old media interact across different media forms and platforms. Jenkins asserts that new media technologies enabled the same content to flow through many different channels and assume many different forms (2006, pg. 10). Acland (2007) echoes this sentiment, reiterating that new digital media refashion old media formats. An example of when police discretion was not used in a controlled and regulated manner was when Mr. Samuel Dubose was shot and killed on July 19, 2015, over his front license plate missing on the vehicle he was driving. Mr. Dubose was driving just south of University of Cincinnati around 6:30 p.m. when Officer Tensing began following him (Capehart, 2015). The university police share jurisdiction with city officers on streets around the campus (Capehart, 2015). However, where the driver was pulled over and killed at was outside of the shared jurisdiction. According to Capehart (2015), The University of Cincinnati police officerRay Tensing lied about the events leading up to the shooting and the officer s body worn camera exposed the truth of what really happened that day. In the video, the officer is asking Mr. Dubose repeatedly for his driver s license . Mr. Dubose replies that he has a driver s license but does not have it with him. Mr. Dubose also states that the missing license plate is in the glove box. Officer Tensing asks, What s that bottle on the floor? Mr. Dubose reaches down, picks up the bottle of gin and gives it to the officer (Capehart, 2015). In brief, both of the Moore s Laws express the idea that the transistors in the integrated circuit will be doubled every two years while the cost of the production will be halved at the same rate of doubling. The Moore s Law was not such accurate from 1965 to 1975. At that time, the time for doubling is about 12 months when the hypothesis was first in 1965. However, it decreased to about 18 24 months in the last ten years. Therefore, many people thought the hypothesis was wrong. Even after the adjustment of Moore s law, the questions still exist. Many people believed that development of transistors would meet a physical limit leading to the end of Moore s law. However this time, the fact prove that they were wrong. In that following 30 years, the Moore s Law was very accurate. As the following diagram shows, the transistors in circuit was about 2300 in early 1970s. Then it increased to 29000 in the later 70s. Consequently, there has never been an attempt at unionising within the company and this is partly due to there not being a need. When workers are not being exploited, there is no need for them to fight back. James Lincoln was the son of a congregational minister and his Christian values were a guiding principle in his managerial decisions. When viewing his employee policies, we can see the golden rule at work. The needs of employees at every level are thoughtfully considered and aligned with the needs of the company. More than that, the customer is also given great consideration and the creation of products with real value is given providence over marketing or advertising. There is a genuine commitment to creating real worth rather than short term profits. In criminal proceedings, the courts judge alleged criminals and deliver verdicts. A frequently encountered issue is determining guilt. Critics of the de facto court system cite moral culpability as an ideal that the courts fail to attain. Priding its moral superiority, the United States surprisingly lacks some of the basic rights to justice afforded to others elsewhere. America purports to have a duty to serve justice, yet the justice system provides little leeway to those whose crimes are not their fault. This notion of unfulfilled justice appears in In Cold Bloodby Truman Capote. When Dick and Perry commit murder, the circumstances are such that Perry cannot be entirely accountable for the actions he took. Perry bears no responsibility for the crimes he committed; storied psychological illnesses and pitfalls compromised his sense of right and wrong, rendering him incapable of intervening in his planned crime with Dick. Lossless compression is the technique of reducing the size of an image without any virtual loss of information. It is also known as reversible form of image compression since the image obtained after compression and then decompression resembles the original one. Typical compression ratios that can be achieved ranges from 1.5 to 3.6 [3]. Conversely, lossy or irreversible form of compression techniques are those in which some or the other information is always lost. Though, lossy compression algorithms are capable of compressing images at ratios much higher than that achieved from lossless compression thus, ensuring faster rates of transmission and lesser storage space. However, the regenerated image is not guaranteed to be an exact replica of the original image, as some data is lost permanently, which will cause error during decompression. Typical compression ratios achieved may range from 5 to 50. Though lossy data compression is often acceptable but the game is not that easy when it comes to medical images. The motivation behind why Cohen incorporates this contention is that in the contemporary past, open administrators have been liable to the occasions happening around the general population comforts. They have not possessed the capacity to fight these occasions and in the most cases, occasions tend to assume control over the control. • 18. The Corruption Of The American Dream In American Literature Echoing the feelings of the American people, American authors resonated deeply with their readers. American writers epitomize what it means to be an American through all periods of time. Additionally, they discuss the American experience in a way that is truthful, showing both the glamorous side, and the underlying problematic portion. Consequently, readers feel as if pieces of American literaturemimic their life, as if the story they are reading could be one of their own. American authors write of what is of necessity, not just want the people want to hear. They write of the ruinous American dream, and the pressure of perfection stemming from this simply impossible desire. The American people become so infatuated with the idea of the American dream, that they begin to believe that the impossible is possible. Furthermore, American authors believe that the American dream convinces individuals that they are capable, and even further, need the things that in reality they don t. This is ultimately destructive to individuals living out the American experience. Similarly, American authors detail the corruption that exists within society, one that resulted from the rigid and restraining class system. The failure for the Chinese government to respond effectively was because of its construct that China was superior over all other powers. • 22. The Impact Of Martin Luther Spread Of Protestantism Luther s spread of Protestantism primarily brought disunity to not only the Holy Roman Empire, but also to England. The Catholic Church had recently just built the St. Peter s Cathedral and started to sell indulgences to make more money off of the people. Martin Luther, a monk, was against the Catholic Church and their teachings and indulgences were the last straw. He believed that all a person needs to reach heaven is faith. Luther set out preaching his words opposing and questioning the church and their faulty beliefs. People listened and followed him full of trust and faith. However, this caused the Reformation and the beginning of a new religion. The spread of Protestantism among Europe brought impactful periods of disunity within the Holy Roman Empire and England, yet unlike the Holy Roman Empire, England was unified in the end. The entire reformation brought more disunity than unity from the beginning in the Holy Roman Empire (Germany) after Martin Luther s Reformation. It started with Luther s Ninety Five Theses in 1517, which was sparked by the Catholic church selling indulgences and spreading false ideas. Within his theses, he called out the church for their wrong teachings and corrupt clergy. His words, actions, and opinions inspired people and gave them a new hope, faith, and religion. He caused a divide within the Holy Roman Empire and was the main source of protestantism. Martin Luther provoked even more division when he said, A Christian man ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Synthesis Of Pnitroaniline From Aniline Essay This experiment takes a longer time then other experiments, taking approximately three weeks to complete. It involves a three step synthesis to make pnitroaniline from aniline and then we will be characterizing our product using the new and useful technique of thin layer chromatography (TLC). We will not be doing the first part of this experiment only parts two and three. Electrophiles are reagents which are attracted to other electrons and in order to bond to nucleophiles, they accept electron pairs. Electrophiles attack benzene and this results in hydrogen substitution. Nonetheless, this isn t thermodynamically favoured due to a sp3 hybridized carbon being generated. This disrupts the cyclic conjugation. In order for the aromatic ring to be regenerated, a proton will be lost at the sp3 hybridized carbon. This means pnitroaniline can be prepared by electrophilic aromatic substitution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Acetyl groups are electron withdrawing. Described variously as the most outspoken civil rights activist in America, and the undisputed intellectual leader of a new generation of African Americans , Du Bois was considered the inspiration for the literary movement known as the Harlem Renaissance (Reuben). Known as the Talented Tenth , in his essay he mentions the Negro race, like all races, being saved by its exceptional men. Du Bois believed that if a small group of black persons attained college educations they would be leaders of the race and encourage the rest to do the same and reach a higher level of education. As a co founder of the NAACP and the long time editor of its magazine The Crisis, Du Bois nurtured and promoted many young and talented African Americans (Reuben). Underlying his controversial notion of the talented tenth, was his belief that true integration will happen when selected blacks excel in the literature and the fine arts. Du Bois stated, If this be true and who can deny it three tasks lay before me, first to show from the past that the Talented Tenth as they have risen among American Negroes have been worthy of leadership, secondly, to show how these men may be educated and developed, and thirdly, to show their relation to the Negro problem (Chesnutt et al. 34). This is a quote from Patrick Demarchelier, who is a french fashion photographer. Photography captures a moment that won t happen again, so you have to make sure you re prepared. There s a lot of aspects that come in when capturing a photograph, the most important being aperturesize, shutter speed, and the ISO. One of the most important aspects of taking a good photo is aperture. Aperture is the hole that light travels through in the camera. An easy way to understand aperture is to compare the parts of a camera to the human eye. The aperture is like the pupil; how much light that enters the retina (camera sensor) depends on the size of the pupil. Typically, larger aperture size equals more light, just like a larger pupil means there s more light. So, the easiest way to remember aperture, is by associating it with your pupil. Large pupil size equals large aperture, while small pupil size equals small aperture . Our cornea is like the front element in lens; it gathers all the external light, then bends it and passes it to the iris. Another important part of the camera that affects the aperture is the diaphragm. The diaphragm is the iris of the lens that is in control of the aperture size. The diaphragm s purpose is to block out all light that doesn t go to the top. Aperture are expressed in f numbers, or f stops. They are a way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Incas, however, only had a spoke language and no written language. I believe this also goes to show the intellectual capacity of the Mayans versus that of the Incas. While the Incas were intelligent, they were no competition for that of the Mayans. When many people think of the Incas and Mayans, they think of brutality. This is a common misconception though. • 41. MFA Thesis Exhibition Last week I visited the George Caleb Bingham Gallery to see an artist s work. Her name was Mary Margaret Sandbothe and her collection of art was at the MFA Thesis Exhibition. Now, I am not one for looking at art and being able to interpret it easily, but when I arrived to see her work I was pleasantly surprised. I was in awe of artwork at first glance. First, what I noticed was that the main overlook of all her pieces included same sex relationships or couples. Furthermore, it exemplified families with same sex parents. For example, there was one piece that had presented two dads with an African Americanchild. This shows the reality of what the world is like today. People don t want to accept change, but she is putting it out there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One piece presents two men lying on a blanket in a park enjoying the day outside. Normally, all couples do this. Now, the society we live in people would look at this like it was uncommon, but slowly people are starting to accept this as the norm. The other piece shown is two men sitting at a table with their son seemingly helping him with his homework like a happy family. Yes, she is presenting how families do work with same sex marriages if you are open to it. At least that is what I see in my opinion. Lastly, she had another piece of two men looking marry while holding a newborn baby. This could possibly mean that they had adopted or fostered a child. It s a beautiful sight because they are so happy and blessed to have this baby in their life. Again, Sandbothe is prominently making a statement here about our society and its view on same sex relationships. Now, with that being said, she had many pieces presented in her work at this exhibit and I found it very intriguing how bold she was. She is not only speaking for the LGBT community, but also speaking to our society and how we should be more accepting of change. The world is continuously evolving and we must not sit back and expect it to go back to the way it was. We must embrace ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Unusual Languages of the World Jenn Beckmann Part 1 2. Define pidgin and creole and explain the difference between them. Pidgins and creoles are both languages that occur when two people of different languages are communicating (p.232). In order to define a pidgin, it is important to look at the process in which a pidgin develops. When contact between speakers of two different languages occurs and they begin to create ways of communication through words and phrases, pre pidgin is developing. A pidgin develops as a new language when the original group or several groups of people begin using the pre pidgin to communicate as the common language. The pidgin is then being used as the lingua franca (p. 233). Depending on the use of the language, there is also a restricted pidgin and expanded pidgin. Restricted pidgin is only used when necessary for communication and typically has small vocabulary and little grammar. Expanded pidgin is a pidgin that is used everyday and in different entities such as religion or the government. This type of pidgin has an expanded vocabulary and grammar. On the other hand, a creole is a pidgin that children learn and use as their first language. With children learn the language as their first, it will expand to community usage. Gramatics are much more complex in a creole as is the vocabulary of the language (p.234). There are differences between a pidgin and creole that can be defined. A pidgin is spoken between people of different languages with less vocabulary and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The participants of football hooliganism who support their respective football clubs demonstrate all kinds of violent behaviors including scuffling, sabotage and intimidation (Another sorry outbreak of the England disease, 2004). This behavior is most often based on the rivalry that exists between different football clubs or teams and can give rise to great conflicts once the matches have ended and sometimes even before that. Sometimes when these conflicts arise during the match at the stadium, the people who practice hooliganism are arrested by the police, meanwhile most of the times the supporters of the rival teams choose to confront each other at places that are far away from the stadiums so as to get away from the police arrests. Some immensely violent acts of hooliganism have been seen by the witnesses by these supporters of football. The conflicts that exist between these people can be as small as fistfights and sometimes so intense that these people make use of the deadly weapons against each other. The use of glass bottles, sports bats, pistols, knives, rocks and machetes has also been seen in football hooliganism. There have been cases in the past when hooliganism and conflicts inside the stadium during an ongoing football match resulted in panic and injuries were inflicted on the fans that were there.
