Essay Services
Writing an essay on the topic of "Essay Services" can be a challenging endeavor for several
reasons. Firstly, navigating the vast landscape of essay services can be overwhelming, given the
multitude of options available online. It requires extensive research to distinguish between
reliable and trustworthy services and those that may not meet the expected standards.
Additionally, delving into the ethical considerations surrounding the use of essay services adds
another layer of complexity. Balancing the advantages of seeking professional assistance with
the potential drawbacks, such as issues related to plagiarism or the authenticity of the work,
requires a nuanced approach. It necessitates a careful examination of the ethical implications and
a thoughtful exploration of the consequences for academic integrity.
Moreover, the topic inherently involves a certain level of subjectivity, as opinions on the efficacy
and appropriateness of essay services may vary widely. Crafting a well-rounded essay requires
considering different perspectives and presenting a balanced argument that takes into account
both the positive and negative aspects of utilizing such services.
Furthermore, discussing the impact of essay services on the educational system and the potential
consequences for students adds an additional layer of difficulty. Analyzing the broader
implications and discussing the role of educational institutions in addressing the challenges
posed by these services requires a deep understanding of the educational landscape and its
evolving dynamics.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Essay Services" demands a comprehensive
exploration of the subject, from navigating the intricacies of the services themselves to delving
into the ethical considerations and broader implications for education. It requires a meticulous
approach to research, analysis, and presentation to create a well-informed and balanced
discussion on the topic.

What Is The Theme Of A Passage To India
A Passage to India delineates both the disintegration and the development of
connections between Somewhat English Indians and locals. In the meantime it is
apparent that Forster has carefully decontextualized the novel by avoiding the
episodes, happened amid the developmental decade (1812 1922), that cleared the
foundation of hostile to English resistance.
Forster s inconspicuous test of all hegemonic fixings has made his depiction of the
relationship between the East and the West exceptionally persuading. A Passage to
India is the narrative of connections between the rulers and the ruled. Forster has
aptly highlighted diverse elements, social, political and religious which decide how
they met up and needed to live respectively. In ... Show more content on

Subsequently, by and large when the Muslims were under assault numerous
persuasive Hindus had stayed noiseless. This can be found in Godbole s mentality
towards Aziz. Godbole is engrossed with the possibility of setting up a secondary

problem, Godbole alludes to his spiritualist rationality and says:
No, not exactly, please, according to our philosophy. Because nothing can be
performed in isolation. All perform a good action, when one is performed and when
an evil action is performed, all perform it . ( A Passage. P. 174).

The Pied Piper of Tucson
The Pied Piper of Tucson On March 4th, 1966, Life Magazine published an article
titled The Pied Piper of Tucson that captured the world s attention. The article
written by Don Moser was based on a true story happened in Tucson, Arizona.
Charles Schmid, the main character of the article, was a serial killer in Tucson who
killed three teenage girls. Moser s article not only managed to turn a local crime
story into an international news, it also inspired Joyce Carol Oateswho often based
her stories on news to write a story about the murders. About 20 years later, this
short story was brought to the silver screen by Joyce Chopra. Smooth Talk is an
adaption of Oates short story, however, more details were added into the movie in

She was a misfit when she attended a private school she cut classes, was suspected
of stealing, and got into trouble with juvenile authorities for attempting to steal at
a liquor store (Moser 84). However, Connie was not as bad as Gretchen as
described by Oates. The only misbehaving things she did in the story was she
fought with her mother a lot and went to places with her friends that were meant
for adults. Charles Schmid laid his eyes on Gretchen at a public swimming pool.
He then followed her home and knocked on the door, and Gretchen answered it by
saying, Don t I know you? (Moser 84). They talked for an hour and that was how
their relationship started. In the story, Arnold Friend set eyes on Connie at
Speedway. He watched her as she walked out from the restaurant, and said to her,
Gonna get you, baby (Oates 210). He went to Connie s house a few days later
when she was home alone while her family was out to a barbecue at an aunt s
place. They talked as Arnold tried to sweet talk Connie into getting into his car. And
when sweet talking did not quite work out, he then threatened that he would harm
her family if she did not follow what he said. Inspired by Alleen s murder, Arnold
Friend had an accomplice, Ellie, who stayed in the car the whole time when Arnold
was seducing Connie. In the article, Alleen s neighbor and friend, Mary French
tricked Alleen into going out for a drink so Charles Schmid and John Saunders

Freedom Writers Diary
Don t let the actions of a few determine the way you feel about an entire group.
Remember, not all German s were Nazis.
― Erin Gruwell, The Freedom Writers Diary
Erin Gruwell is the author of the book The Freedom Writers Diary, it was published
by Random House in 1999. The book described Erin Gruwells first year as an English
school teacher at Woodrow Wilson High Schoolin Long Beach, California. It featured
her trials and difficulties within her unteachable class.
Gruwell quickly learned that her students had more to worry about than homework;
her students went home to gunfire, gangs, drugs, and a host of other scary situations.
The students were convinced that they had nothing to learn from a white woman who
had never experienced firsthand the violence, discrimination, and hatred that was part
of their everyday lives. One day, Gruwell intercepted a note being passed between
students; the paper revealed a racist caricature full of hate. Gruwell told her class that
it was this sort of hate and misunderstanding ... Show more content on

They were also visited by Zlata Filipovic. The group went on to receive tremendous
recognition from the media and from the government, hoping that others would find
inspiration in their story of success.
Perhaps the pinnacle of their success was winning the Spirit of Anne Frank Award in
1998. The group traveled to New York to receive their award. In 1999, the group
traveled to Europe together where they visited the Anne Frank House and various
concentration camps. e, the students took an interest in academics.
It is nothing less than a miracle that all 150 of the Freedom Writers graduated from
high school and went on to college. It is likely that none of their achievements would

The Armenian Genocide Committed By The Ottoman
Empire
The Armenian genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire against its minority
Armenian population from 1915 1917 left an estimated 1.5 million dead and to date,
not one individual has been tried for these egregious crimes. The mass killings of
Armenians by the Ottoman Empire in World War I and Jews by the Nazis in World
War II shocked the conscience of the international community and led to the creation
of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide
(CPPCG), in order to hold the perpetrators of crimes of this magnitude accountable.
In its preamble, the UN charter sets the objective to establish conditions under which
justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of
international law can be maintained . The genocide committed by the Ottoman
Empire and Nazis made it clear that an international standard must be set in order to
protect the rights of individuals. The UN has attempted to establish international law
with the creation of the CPPCG and other resolutions, however, these resolutions are
simply words on paper unless they are properly enforced. In this essay I will be
examining whether the United Nationshave been successful in its enforcement
international law, specifically the CPPCG.
Thesis
Law in society serves many purposes, the main of these are protecting liberties and
rights, establishing standards, maintaining order, and resolving disputes. Since the
CPPCG convened, the UN has
Benefits Attending College
Education lays the path for a better quality of life. Why it s always important to start
early, as a child because its proof when you start early you ll rarely stumble.
Educated men and women have the skills, information and Self confidence to make
better parents, workers and citizens. People that are educated tend to have better
paying jobs, be more law abiding, healthier and educate their own children better. That
s why attending collegefor myself has been a huge turn around in my life. Not only
has it made me better prioritize things between family, work and school, but it s made
me understand what s more important in life which is education, one thing no one in
this world can take you.

Sa Ap Syllabus Essay
SA IP CURRICULUM (CAPS)
The main themes that run through the syllabus is connecting science and its
explanations and connecting it to the ideas we have today, as well as incorporated
science through history over the years and then questioning the unknown, opening
new frontiers. In technology, we also refer to history and its influence on the
economy and environmental factors that might influence the technology that we use
today, as well as how we can improve/change those factors (incorporated with science)
(Motshekga, 2011). The only difference in views that comes to play is when we
compare our standards of science and technology to those of other countries
/curriculums that might undergo different factors than us (Motshekga, 2011).
When teaching natural sciences and technology, teachers need to promote an
understanding of seeing these subjects as activities to promote curiosity and
enjoyment about the world and that what we encounter around us. The history of
science and technology should also be integrated with other subjects. Science and
technology should be seen as a contribution to social justice and societal
development (Motshekga, 2011). A growing need of discovery in science and
technology needs to be promoted in order to form interest in ourselves, society and ...

minds with regards to certain topics. This man was also my inspiration in studying
education, as he was willing to take the risk to make extra time to help struggling
My First Softball
There are three events that made me who made me happy with, my weird life,
which are when I hit my first softball. When I did my first Sounds Choir play, you
feel like the people who came to see the play came just to see you and only you.
The day I became a big sister was the best day of my life. Doing activities with
family is amazing and you feel like you can do thing. Playing softball, doing a play,
and being a big sister makes half of my life. When I hit my first softball I was
about seven. When someone hits the softball you feel the adrenaline kicks in and
then they start to run and try and touch the base. Stepping up to bat you are kinda
afraid but you have to also not be afraid. Softball can be a good team experience so

Comparing Boyz N The Hood And The Outsiders
Boyz n the Hood, filmed in 1991, illustrates the problems young African Americans
endure while growing up in the hood . The Outsiders portrays similar struggles
with young white males of a low socioeconomic class. Both films take place in
tough neighborhoods where many young men are killed due to violent crimes, like
drive bys or street fights. Both films also depict a main character who is struggling
with his own identity and place in the community; however, The Outsiders takes on
a much darker tone than Boyz n the Hood likely due to the point the director of
Boyz n the Hood was trying to make on ending black on black violence. In both
Boyz n the Hood and The Outsiders, the directors portray the young male s struggle
to overcome impulsivity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to survive, the main characters must fit in with the community or risk
alienation. In The Outsiders, the rivalry, between the Greasers and Socs, remains
because generations of innocent boys have grown and fit into their deemed places
in adolescent society and fueled the rivalry under the assumption that nothing ever
changes...Greasers will still be Greasers and Socs will still be Socs, a self
fulfilling prophecy. The only way for boys on the east side to protect themselves
from Socs is to assimilate to the Greaser community and participate in the fights
against the Socs. Boyz n the Hood depicts Tre s struggle to assimilate to hood
culture where women are treated poorly and used for sex. Tre affects a hood
vernacular and regales his father with tales of his sexual adventures, despite being a
virgin, with a woman named Tisha. Despite knowing his father s stance on the
contraception, Tre claims not to have used protection inciting his father s
disappointment and anger on purpose. The film emphasizes the struggle between Tre
s background and his environment by blocking the two characters in a tight frame
with Tre backed up against a refrigerator and Furious invading Tre s intimate space,
symbolic of education
Narrative Devices In Crimes And Misdemeanors
In the film Crimes and Misdemeanors, Woody Allen frames his main character, Judah
Rosenthal, in a multitude of ways. At the start of the film, the audience is introduced
to Rosenthal by hearing an admiring speech about him at an award banquet.
However, during this speech, the audience sees a flashback of him burning an
intercepted letter from his mistress, Delores, that reveals their relationship to his wife.
Delores continues to pressure Rosenthal to leave his wife, and Judah believes the
only solution is murder. Finally, when he admits to Cliff, the film s other leading
role, that he has outgrown his mistakes, he is able to cherish his wife and daughter.
Woody Allenmanipulates the audience s perception of Judah Rosenthal by using
different framings devices through a nonlinear method of storytelling to create a
positive image of an evil character. At the award banquet, Rosenthal s wife points out
how he s blushing during the positive speech and he has a concerned look on his
face. This creates an immediate attraction to Rosenthal, which toys with the audience
s emotions. First impressions have a strong impact, so the audience will
subconsciously see Judah as a positive image. The framing allows the audience not to
dismiss Judah as a villain for the crimes he committed. Halfway through the speech,
the audience witnesses Rosenthal s flashback to when he discovered the letter. The
audience realizes Judah cannot be completely trusted. As a result, the audience feels

Liver Detox Essay
Adrenal fatigue and liver congestion typically go hand in hand. Additionally, they
both impact the functioning of other hormone producing organs, including the
ovaries. Women who have adrenal fatigue and liver congestion frequently also
suffer from ovarian hormone imbalance. Adrenal fatigue is a condition that has a
gradual onset. There is no clear cut starting point. As the stresses of modern life
often cause the body s natural stress response system to be called upon far too
often. Over time, it slowly reaches a point of being unable to continue to rise to the
occasion. Thus, early stage adrenal fatigue sets in. It typically goes unnoticed, so it
gradually gets worse. As the body deteriorates, the liver becomes slowly unable to do
its job adequately.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They may pay for expensive tests, only to be told that all the test results are within

take a toll psychologically, where they begin to wonder if these very real health
issues are just all in their mind. Liver detox symptoms If one is fortunate enough
to get a good alternative medicine professional on their case, they may start seeing
improvement. As with any recovery process, liver detox symptoms can be
surprisingly unpleasant. The bad stuff backed up in the system must come out. It
has a variety of pathways out of the body, including the urinary tract, bowel
movements, emesis and sweating. A very common occurrence is gastrointestinal
distress during the detox phase. If it moves on to emesis, one may be pushing too
hard. It is easier on the body if the wastes coming out of the system come out with
less drama than is involved in emesis. After all, the point of addressing adrenal
fatigue syndrome is to reduce stress and help the body become more able to handle
it. An excess of drama during the recovery process is not
The Gay Lives of Frederick the Great and William Iii
The Gay Lives of Frederick the Great and William III Frederick the Great of
Prussia and William III of the Dutch Republic were two well known great leaders
of Europe. They lived decades apart, William from 1650 to 1702, and Frederick
from 1712 to 1786, yet had uncannily similar lives, in many aspects. These leaders,
because of a somewhat controversial past, have lost many important clues about
what their lives were really like. Nonetheless, it is known for sure that both were
knowledgeable, great military leaders, champions of justice, and very likely
homosexual. One of the few dissimilarities between Frederick and William was the
religion they were raised on, which of course was to influence the rest of their lives,
particularly in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is said that his father arranged his marriage with Christine to prove Frederick s
heterosexuality in addition to producing an heir. Frederick, as a military leader,
also was known to have relationships with his friends from the battlefield. Though,
to his credit, he never allowed any relationships to interfere with his work or
compromise his integrity. Perhaps Frederick s best known and interesting affair
was with the famous French poet Voltaire. Frederick s love for French culture
encouraged him to reach out to Voltaire, and in 1736 the 24 year old prince sent a
letter to the 22 year old, already quite famous philosopher. Thus began their
friendship, and they kept a close friendship, or possibly more throughout their lives.
Still, there was a conflict of interest between them. Preceding Frederick s
coronation, Voltaire Never tired of comparing Frederick to Apollo, Alcibiades and
the youthful Marcus Aurelius (Strachey 170). But Voltaire wanted to see a peaceful,
united Europe, and once Frederick took the throne of Prussia he seemed only
interested in war. Frederick tried to keep Voltaire around, even offering him positions
in the court as he still very much valued Voltaire s opinions. Voltaire and Frederick
still exchanged writings, Frederick s work still often implying
Internship Reflection Essay
My Reflection: I have been very lucky to complete an internship with Wayne
County Bank this summer. It was a rewarding experience and I have gained
valuable knowledge that will be beneficial to me as I continue to pursue my career

is inspiring. As a high school student, I volunteered to help WCB in any way needed
at the Relay for Life or any other activity they hosted. The work day in the

These returns are put with a copy of the original item and sent to the mailing
address we have on the customer file. They will then be processed with all the other
mail to go to the Post Office at the end of the day. Some of our business customers
have requested that they receive a fax of the return as soon as it is processed so that
they may take the appropriate actions on their end. The biggest part of my job was
answering all the customer phone calls. At any point in the day, a customer might call
to ask about their account. I answer the phone and assist the customer with anything
they need. Customers usually want to know their current balance or if a check has
entered their account yet, but sometimes they want to know about the last few
transactions so I go over those and give them the information they are requesting.
Many of the same customers call frequently so I began recognizing their voices and
they started referring to me as the man in bookkeeping since the other Bookkeeping
employees are women. Personally, I think that knowing the customers and their needs
helps to maintain the home town banking that WCB is well known for around our
community and the surrounding areas. I enjoy speaking with and assisting our
customers, many of them I see and know personally around the town. It is nice to
establish these connections
Gender Roles Essay
Gender Roles The affects of gender roles on people greatly change the way the
society runs. According to the Webster s dictionary the definition of gender are the
behavioral, cultural, or psychological traits typically associated with one sex, and
the definition of role is a character assigned or assumed. The key word in this
definition is assumed; therefore, whether you are male or female, you know what
role you must play in society. Traditional gender roles are beneficial to society. They
benefit society in many ways including keeping stability, order and generally making
life easier. Women have to work two jobs: outside the home and within the home,
taking care of the children. Children that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However after work they must go home and take care of the kids. A new national
survey found that after a generation of sharing the work place, most men and
woman believe that the strains of this relatively new work place have made having
relationships, marriages, raising children and in general making life more difficult

.). In another survey, a majority of working men and women said they feel guilty
about leaving their family for others to take care of them. They also wished that
they could devote more time to their families and themselves (The Family: At
Home is a Heartless World. Vol. 1. N.p.: Harper Collins, 1995.). Surveys say that
some people have resentment, nostalgia and fatigue due to their workload. In most
countries woman work longer hours than men, and they also work most of the
unpaid work. For example, some of the unpaid work is done in the household, and in
taking care of the children (Anderson, Porter. CNN. 1998. 08 Apr. 2002 http:/

amount of working mothers with children under three years of age has increased
twenty three percent in the last twenty five years. In 1998, the 53.6% of

much control over communities and fans across the world and not just the athletes
but sports in general. These people and events shape countless of futures all by just

who then in turn influence people by their values and lessons they have learned.

Sports teach discipline, heart, and unity. All around the world people get emotional
over one game. They get together and celebrate. It is in games that people become
inspired and want to shape their lives more like the players playing the sport. As
teams win or lose, they think and talk it through and decide what needs to be done
differently to find themselves back on their way towards success. Mia Hamm, a retired
professional soccer player once said, Take your victories, whatever they may be,
cherish them, use them, but don t settle for them . Hamm knew what she wanted
from life and even though she might have said these few words for her benefit at
first, she has inspired thousands of little girls dreaming of playing soccer like her to
not settle. Both Reilly and Hamm have influenced people because they knew what
was right and stuck with it, although it could have been easy to give up.

Implications And Future Directions For Research
Implications and future directions for research
Causal directionality could not be determined due to the nature of this study. There is
question whether these adolescents had stronger ethnic identity as a result of their
experiences with discrimination or whether they perceived discrimination because
they were more outward with their ethnicity. Both directions are equally plausible. In
the first scenario, rejection from the majority would lead to individuals seeking
acceptance from their ethnic group thereby increasing ethnic identity. In the latter
scenario, research has shown that individuals who are highly identified with their
racial/ethnic group tend to be more sensitive to intergroup inequalities and be more
prone to labeling negative encounters as discrimination (Crocker Major, 1989; Sellers
Shelton, 2003; Shelton Sellers, 2000). Furthermore, those highly identifying with
their ethnicity may become more aware of others experience in their group and have
more opportunities to hear about those experiences. Longitudinal studies may clarify
the directionality of this relationship by investigating changes in these variables as
time passes.
While having a strong ethnic identity is important, these experiences of
discrimination may prevent adolescents from developing a healthy sense of
acculturation and may cause them to have difficulty integrating with society. Stepick
and Stepick (2002) noted that when young people are treated differently by the

Thomas (2009) reported that Louverture gradually established control over the whole
island of Saint Domingue, abolishing slavery, as well as believed that nobody should
be enslaved, eliminate racism, and used his political and military tactics to gain
dominance over his rivals. Thomas further noted that throughout Toussaint s years in
power, there was improvements in the economy, security, restored the plantation
system using paid labor, negotiated trade treaties with Britain, the United States, and
maintained a well disciplined army. Mckay et al. (2015) reported that Napoleon,
who had his own plans of using the profits from reestablishing the system of
plantation slavery as a basis for expanding the French Empire.
Furthermore, Napoleon ordered, General Charles Leclerc to lead an expedition to
crush the new regime, in 1802 Leclerc arrested Toussaint Louverture, deported him
to France, along with family members, where he died in prison in 1803(Mckay et

accomplished by Lieutenant Jean Dessalines. Nessler (2016) noted Toussaint said,
I said to trim the tree, not uproot it (p135). In examining Toussaint Louverture s
early beginnings the evidence revealed the path was paved for his life of service to
humanity. Toussaint was a slave, but experienced a life that provided the tools for
the task of liberating a race of people and defying rivals of mighty countries and
powerful armies.
Applying Bowlby ( Attachment ) And Maslow
Anna is a 56 year old single adult who has an alcoholic addiction; she lives by
herself in a one bedroom flat. Anna suffers from depression and anxiety. Care staff
attends to Annas needs four times a day to ensure she is maintaining her personal
hygiene, eating nutritional meals and administering her medications correctly. Anna
is independent and goes out locally and shops by herself. Due to Anna s past she
has never felt the need to marry or settle down, she did however have a child in her
adolescent stage, unfortunately due to Anna being addicted to heroin and alcohol it
was best that the child was taken into care. Anna tends to bring up her daughter
when intoxicated and tends to get very emotional and aggressive towards her and
others. Anna attends counselling twice a week to help cope and deal with the
unfortunate events that have happened in her life, through this she has gained a few
friends that she likes to meet occasionally depending on her mood. 2. Applying two
theoretical approaches I would apply Bowlby (attachment) and Maslow (humanistic).
John Bowlby (1907 1990) was a psychoanalyst (like Freud) and believed that mental
health and behavioural problems could be recognized to early childhood. Bowlby
suggested that a child would initially form only one primary attachment (monotropy)
and that the attachment figure acted as a secure base for exploring the world. The
attachment relationship acts as a prototype for all future social relationships so

The Crusades were an important part of World History during the post classical era.
Between 1096 and 1270, the Europeans attempted to acquire Christian sacred areas
from the Muslims ( The Crusades ). Supported by Western Europe, Christian armies
were sent to take over the Holy Land and other surrounding areas ( Crusades). The
Holy Land surrounds Jerusalem and, to this day, contains sacred sites to
Christians, Jews, and Muslims ( Crusades ). These sacred sites were very
important to people of these religions and many pilgrimages occurred there (
Crusades ). During the eleventh century, Muslims acquired the Holy Land and
expanded their empire ( Crusades ). This prompted Alexius Comnenus, the
Byztantine emperor, to write to Pope Urban II in need of trying to reacquire this
sacred land ( The Crusades ). This prompted the start of the Crusades. There were
four major Crusades and several others that occurred ( Crusades ). The first was
probably the most significant out of all of them. The First Crusadeallowed for the
capture of The Holy Land and also prompted an influence of Middle Eastern culture
and ideas to Western Europe. During the first century BCE, the Roman Empire seen
the diffusion of Christianity throughout its empire ( Crusaders Arrive at
Constantinople ). Once the empire expanded into Jerusalem and Palestine,
Christianity became the predominant religion in these areas ( Crusaders Arrive at
Constantinople ). During the seventh century CE, the rise of Islam occurred,

All over the world indigenous communities are faced with an array of new problems,
though the public continues to gain insight into the lives of these people they
continue to be marginalized in the global arena as well. The Pacific Islands are an
entity far removed from the minds of most westerners. The primary focus of any
political discourse within the United States places most emphasis on Australia and

Not only have increased temperatures been noticed on dry land but also in the oceans,
which is even more frightening. It is worse because the oceans absorb a lot of the
atmospheric heat if it weren t for that the land temperatures would be even higher.
And with the polar ice caps receding the mean oceanic sea level is also rising.
Speaking strictly in terms of the next hundred years the islands with the lowest
altitudes are of greatest concern in regard to swelling oceans. Low lying island
states and atolls are especially vulnerable to climate change and associated sea level
rise because in many cases much of the terrain rarely exceeds 3 4m above present
mean sea level. This is not to say that the other higher islands will escape unscathed
from rising sea levels. For them the problem isn t necessarily complete immersion but
the alteration of costal zones is of concern. It is in these regions that most of the main
settlements are and a majority of the vital economic infrastructures, making them very
vulnerable.
The ecosystems of the ocean are particularly sensitive to slight but permanent
changes in the average surface temperature of the earth. For the people of the Pacific
Islands this is crucial connected to their future. First, the coral reefs that are in the
shallow waters surrounding many of the pacific islands are incredibly fragile to begin

Using Arm Prosthetics to Aid Patient Rehabilitation in Occupational Therapy
Megan Rafferty, Drew Petersen
Patients with amputations face large restrictions on their daily activities and
functioning due to some of the problems that they encounter with the block prosthetic
limbs available. Part of the reason for this restriction is that body powered prostheses
lack the ability to function at more than one degree of freedom at a given time.

This allows the patient to develop sufficient endurance required to proceed with TMR

to the host muscle, the OT must have in depth knowledge of peripheral nerve

the therapist must know the details of the surgery and the possible effects for every
patient since each case is unique. An occupational therapist s knowledge of TMR is
also advantageous for a myriad of patients who are physically active, due to the
commonality of shoulder dislocations. Patients with prosthetics have an increased
number of EMG signals, which result from more intuitive, controlled upper body
movements with less effort[p1] . Additionally, these developed prosthetic movements
are more efficient and fluid without the necessity of switching between degrees of
freedom. Patients with TMR demonstrate increased performance in comparison to
conventional myoelectric control (Stubblefield, 2009). For example, TMR patients
were 50 percent faster in a clothespin moving test and improved in the Assessment of
Motor and Process Skills. Due to the twofold effects of surgical and postoperative
therapy intricacy, TMR provides the opportunity for clinical skill enhancement
through the guidance of occupational therapists and thus
Cowards In The Crucible
During the Salem Witch Trials and the McCarthy Trials many chose to praise and
be submissive to those who were accusing, they who choose to submissively praise
such evil are known as the cowards. A coward is a person who lacks courage in
facing danger, difficulty, opposition, pain, ect. (The Definition of Coward 2016).
Though times of persecution such as The Salem Witch Trials and the McCarthy
Trials are intimidating, There are those who stood up to the accuser or accusers they
are those who are courageous. Being courageous is possessing or characterized by

cowards will be revealed but the courageous will be delivered.

McCarthy started accusing if he had any reason to believe the one was a
communist, or wanted to do way with such person. An example of one who was
accused was Owen Lattimore. It is believed that because of Lattimore s
outspokenness and liberal views, as well as an acquaintance with Chiang Kai Shek,
Made him ideal for McCarthy s anti Communist Campaigns. Then in 1950 McCarthy
accused Lattimore of being the Soviet s number one spy, Lattimore was convicted of
seven counts of perjury after 12 days of brutal questionnaire. Though the charges
were dropped three years later, Lattimore s reputation was destroyed with no chance
of redemption. (Victims of McCarthyism 2016)
Now that mass chaos has been unleashed, there are some who will not put up with
such nonsense. This is step four, the birth of the courageous. After John Proctors
wife Goody Proctor was accused of being a witch, John had enough of this
nonsense. John is one of the first to stand up and say something about it, You are a
coward! Though you be ordained in God s own tears, you are a coward now!
(Miller 79). John shows courage by pointing out the cowards, and by doing so he is
starting the revolution that will put an end to this

Key Performance Indicators ( Kpis )
As you know, in our current business environment, most companies have finite
resources and budget but they share a common objective which is to do more with
less and stay nimble . Extracting key insight from business data is crucial for
management to formulate strategy to drive improvement in our organization to
counter competition as the industry evolves. In addition, having the information at
the right time to departments and individuals will motivate the employees to act on
this information in relation to corporate or departmental goals. Due to the recent
trend in visualization and advanced technology in dashboard, corporations are
increasingly captivated with dashboards due to their vast ability to allow the users
visualize data in an interactive and engaging manner. The ability to use key analytics
and technology to manage performance through the use of key performance
indicators (KPIs) provides great benefits to companies and corporations. Companies
may use KPIs to set targets, identify trends, determine potential issues and
opportunities, and plan future activities to help increase performance. With that in
mind, I recommend to start an initiative to develop a set of relevant KPIs to better
measure our contract performance. As contract performance is a clear indicator of
the success of our business, we need a mean to measure the effectiveness of this
component in order for us to take action at the right time if we fall short on our
target. I want to propose
Behavior Analysis Intervention for Austic Children Essay
Introduction
If we look at the anatomical parts of the brain, we can notice differences in autistic
children s brain. According to Just, Cherkassky, Keller, Kana, and Minshew (2007),
when autistic group was compared to control group, the functional connectivity was
lower for the autistic participants between frontal and parietal areas, relevant parts of
corpus callosum were smaller in cross sectional area and the size of the genu of the
corpus callosum was associated with the functional connectivity of frontal parietal.

Applied Behavioral Analysis Intervention ABA is based on principles of behavioral
therapy and is one of the most effective interventions for children that have autism.
According to Healy, O Connor, Leader, and Kenny (2008), early intensive behavioral
intervention was effective with preschool children that had autism because they
reported high achievements in normative functioning, which was measured under
practical outcomes and standard psychological methods. The study also concludes
that since Applied Behavior Analysisis a treatment, it can fabricate systematic,
substantial and durable effects under particular conditions. This study provided an
example where 40% to 60 % children before reaching five who had two years and
ten months treatment improved well enough that they were ready to be enrolled in
public schools. The research shows that Applied Behavior Analysis is effective with
children that have autism, but there are many other effective interventions that can be
integrated with ABA. For example Lim and Draper (2011) incorporated music with
Applied Behavioral Analysis and found that both of music and ABA were effective
and there was no significant differences in between them. Moreover, results
specifically indicated that music was as important as speech training to form
functional verbal operants in children that have autism. The results also stated that
when music is paired with ABA, musical stimuli could enhance verbal production in
children with autism. In
Octopus Evolution
People have been comparing the octopus to an alien life form for years most notably
mollusk expert Martin Wells, grandson of H.G. Wells, who ate his subjects after he
experimented on them.
Wells anecdotally referred to octopuses as the only alien intelligence that humans
have encountered. But try as he might, Wells who devoted his life to the study of
cephalopods could not tap the origins of the creature s intelligence.
Now, a new breakthrough in octopus genome mapping has revealed that the strange
creatures have more secrets than we ever realized.
Scientists at the University of Chicago, the University of California at Berkeley, and
the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology have fully mapped the DNA
sequencing of the Bimac octopus, better known as the California two spot octopus. ...

Alien????? Everything Octopus
For starters, the DNA of an octopus contains nearly 10,000 more gene codes than that
of a human. Various clusters of these gene codes perform different tasks and octopus
genes are specially equipped to do very versatile things. For instance, six different
octopus gene codes combine to produce an octopus s ability to rapidly camouflage
itself. Another gene type, protocadherin, allows the development of neurons and
neural transmissions.
Most mammals, including humans, only have 70 or so protocadherins. The octopus
has 168. And the octopus has one of the largest gene families devoted to
development of any animal we ve mapped so far second only to the elephant.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is that the DNA of an octopus is essentially like a road
map where the road signs keep hopping around. The octopus has an extremely large
number of jumping genes, called transposons, that can easily change their position in
a protein chain. Researchers also found evidence in the octopus s RNA suggesting
that they can easily alter their own protein sequences. In the researchers press release,

The Pros And Cons Of Reproductive Technology
Chile s health system has been evolving rapidly in recent years. The assigned role of
the Chilean Medical Association has focused on medical ethics codes, and laws.
Social organizations have emerged during the last decade and have been working
together with the Chilean Fertility Society to change public health policies and
attitudes in order to increase the access of people to modern reproductive technology.
The current government has passed the August Law which decriminalizes abortion
under three circumstances, the government also signed the Convention on the
Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), which
establishes safe healthcare as a human right.(6) Today, women have won, democracy
has won, all of Chile has won, said Bachelet(2). On the other hand, Reproductive
technology, assisted reproductive technology (ART), is utilized but faces opposition
from factors of social religious conservatism, and gender based discrimination. While
reproductive technologies can be accessed by those who can afford out of pocket
funding, most of the population relies on public healthcare, resulting in less than 4%
of the population receiving treatment.(5) In this sense, more research of reproductive
technologies, specifically mitochondrial transfer, should be reliant on biomedical
research of genetic on bioethical levels, as gene therapy is authorized only for the
purpose of treating diseases or preventing their appearance(4). In this sense, the

major factors that prevented the system from working was the insistence that
everyone had to create a unique identification in the system so that the system

what subsistence would be accessible to an applicant. If the system had allowed
applicants to browse the offerings before creating an application, the system would
not have had so many applications in a started pending completion status (Heusser

people were going to sign up for insurance who had never had insurance before
otherwise, a taxpayer without insurance would face share tax (penalty) for not
having everyone in their household covered (Heusser et al., 2013, para. 34).

the domestic one. Molson, in its attempt to increase its market share and target the

makes me wonder what really is the difference between Canada and America now?
Does the binary actually exist in the real world or was it just an attempt by Molson

Summary Of The Glass MenagerieBy Tennessee Williams
Imagine having a sibling, whom you love so dearly, gradually lose touch with reality
and change so drastically that they become somebody unfamiliar. You want so badly,
to help them escape from their misery and pain yet there was nothing you could do.
Worse yet, you don t understand why it is happening to them or what it is exactly.
Unfortunately, it happened to Thomas Tennessee Williams. Rose Williams, Tennessee
Williamsolder sister was diagnosed with schizophrenia at a relatively youthful age.
After her diagnosis, his mother allowed doctors to do a prefrontal lobotomywhich
affected her so much that she was institutionalized (Hoare). Though they have their
differences, he was awfully devoted to his sister Rose. This experience may have
affected his playwright by allowing him to open up to us and giving us a preview
what his life was like for his family just before her diagnosis, just how delicately
she is to him, and that he wanted to prove to us just how loyal he was to his darling
sister Rose. Based on real events that unfolded, The Glass Menagerie really opened
our eyes to Tennessee Williams s family life. The Glass Menagerie depicts Williams
childhood. His father worked as a traveling salesman (Williams, Notebooks), his
mother raised the children practically by herself and often longed for her past. The
relationship between Tennessee s parents was dysfunctional to say the least. Tom
Wingfield portrays a young Tennessee, and Laura, though only has a limp is
Weight Watchers Research Paper
I knew about Weight Watchers way before Oprah started endorsing it! I remember
learning about the weight loss plan in my early twenties from one of my friends. I
watched her jump from one diet to another unsuccessfully, until she tried Weight
Watchers. Weight Watchers is diet plan that was invented in the early 60 s by an
overweight housewife named Jean Nidetch. Like most Americans she was tired of
denying herself cabs, desserts and whatever else she wanted to eat for the cost of
losing weight.
Weight Watchers has become a household name, it has over 30 million members and
is used in many countries. I think one of the biggest reasons why Weight Watchers
has been able to stick around is because of their weekly meetings. During those
weekly members talk about their weight loss goals, share eating tips, exercise, and
they also discuss behavioral changes that are necessary to attaining a healthier
lifestyle. Losing weight is not easy, but when you have the support of a group, it
goes a long way. Weight Watchers promises you can eat whatever your heart desires,
in moderation, of course. It follows a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For one, it is not safe for children. The program s strict point system would not fit a
child s daily calorie intake. Because a child s body is still growing, I think they need
their recommended daily intake of fruits, veggies, legumes, fats and cabs. The plan
that weight watchers has limits them from consuming the amount needed for a child
s diet. I think they would either eat too much of certain food group and not eat enough
of another. I think it s a lose lose situation for a child. Aside from their nutritional
needs not being met with the Weight Watchers diet I think that introducing a child to
such a strict diet while they are still developing can hurt them psychologically. The
diet plan s calorie counting, introduces a unhealthy relationship with food, which can

The legislation was repealed in 1999 when key players from the financial arena
urged Congress to pass the Gramm Leach Bliley Act to reverse Glass Steagall s
restrictions on bank securities (Heakal, 2003).
Financial Reform Today
Dodd Frank is the latest financial reform passed by Congress, and by far the most
extensive. According to Amadeo, Dodd Frank is the most comprehensive reform
since the Glass Steagall Act of 1933 (2012, para.1). The goals of Dodd Frank are to
implement consumer protections, end bailouts with tax payer money, create a
council to identify risks, eliminate loopholes for risky behavior, implement say on
pay for executives, protect investors, and enforce strict regulations on Wall Street
(House of Representatives, n.d.). Dodd Frank lacks clarity and is lengthy, running
over 1,000 pages long (New York, 2012). In many cases, Dodd Frank does not contain
explicit rules, but instead creates an outline whereby financial oversight agencies
have been charged with conducting research and writing and implementing the rules.
Who Are the Agencies Responsible for Implementing Dodd Frank? Prior to the
financial crisis, the overall responsibility for financial oversight was divided among
several different agencies. These agencies and their varying rules and standards led to
certain entities not being regulated at all, with others subject to less oversight than
their peer
Ol Lima Steakhouse
1.Introduction:
General Manager of Ol Spurs Steakhouse in Brisbane, a locally owned steakhouse
and restaurant has reported productivity and profit loss, which is negatively affecting
the brand and the company s profit margins. After careful consideration, it was
discovered that employees within the various sections are confused who should be
doing what and to whom they should be reporting. This report will analyse the issue
and discuss key management factors when addressing staff. Two management theories

Surrogacy Should Be Allowed In The United States
Surrogacy should be allowed in every state in the United States because it is some
womens only option to have a child. The Akanksha Clinic in Gujarat has drawn
praise from Oprah Winfrey for making mother dreams come true. Left unsaid is that
these dreams come at a cost: surrogate mothers from very poor are forced to live in
rooms with 10 to 15 other mothers, away from families, for most of their pregnancy
(Persons, Not Products). Women are so desperate to have children they will go
under terrible living conditions to bear a child for another woman. Some women
have illnesses where they are not able to have children, but still want children. If a
woman is having a hard time conceiving chances are she has an illness that prevents

The government does not always make surrogacy safe and surrogacy can be a very
dangerous thing. Surrogacy can get very dangerous because there is always risks
for pregnancies and when something bad does happen the families will argue and
it will be a bad situation which is why it should not be allowed at all (Surrogate
Motherhood). Surrogacy should not be allowed at all it is a danger to our world
and is offensive to religions. Surrogacy is bad for children. When kids grow up
they will be confused on who their real parents are. It can be very scarring for
children because they will wonder why that would ever have to happen and how it
happened. Surrogacy can be very awkward for children when they grow up. It can
lead to a very confusing relationship between the child and the mother and no child
should ever have to go through a damaging experience like that (Surrogate
Motherhood). The act of surrogacy is against many religions beliefs and many
religions do not like surrogacy happening around the world. Church leaders share
these concerns and are working to stymie commercial surrogacy legislation in states
across the nation (Persons, Not Products). Surrogacy is especially bad because
women who bear another child for another woman or person can get money from it
and getting money from another human being for a child is offensive. Churches are
against all kinds of surrogacy and think it is against the bible. They are especially
against commercial surrogacy because it is like slavery. Humans should not be given
to another family involving money it is very inhumane. The Roman Catholic Church
is just one of many religions that does not like the idea of surrogacy. It is very
inhuman, even if it does not involve money. Commercial surrogacy can be found to
be very offensive because a woman should never bear another child for a different
family (Surrogate

Workers of Tesco PLC
The workers of Tesco PLC are interested in the level of profit which is due to
workers would want to receive a higher wage, incentives and more flexible work

As this could lead to a promotion to move up in their career at TescoPLC. The
workers would want to be working in clean and safe environments and that their job

A worker at Tesco PLC may have conflicts with the owners due to not reinvesting

So, then Tesco PLC can sell more higher quality products such as the food to their
customers. While this is a conflict as the workers would want to have profits

their treatments. For example, not being fair to the workers on working times. This
is a conflict because of the workers wanting different to what the managers want.
Also, a conflict may be with the customers over the quality of service given. For

1. Goal The main idea behind this lab was to relocate the DHCP server and master
DNS server to a fresh install of Windows Server 2012. This would allow control
over most of the network with Windows Server 2012 while maintaining a slave
DNS server on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 box. A basic install of Active
Directory was also implemented, allowing a single client to connect to the
bestnet.local domain. Microsoft Baseline SecurityAnalyzer was also implemented to
determine any outlying security risks associated with the Windows Server2012. This
lab took the knowledge that I gained from in class lectures and previous
experiences, and allowed me to implement Active Directory, DHCP, and DNS
flawlessly on Windows Server 2012. It helped me to understand how Active

domain. By playing around in Active Directory, I was able to gain valuable
knowledge of how to implement many features and roles directly related to an Active
Directory installation.

Beveridge Report On The Welfare State
This essay will discuss the key points of the Beveridge report (1942), and evaluate
the significance of the report on the welfare state. In November 1942, William
Beveridge presented a report called, Social Insurance and Allied Services to
parliament. This was a summary of principles to improve upon the existing welfare
benefits system, to benefit working people and the population. The document
proposed a new system to be operated by one governing agency, called Social
Security. This would be put in place by the state after World War 2 had ended.
Overall Beveridge created the most revolutionary document in our history. Beveridge
has played a significant role in evolving the Welfare Stateover the decades.

Administration The Social Insurance scheme would need to make big changes to
the administration process for this scheme to run smoothly and be successful.
Beveridge wanted every worker to obtain one insurance document weekly, rather
than two. He saw this as an opportunity for the new system to be under one
governing agency called The Ministry of Social Security. The new system also
implemented classes to the National Insurance scheme, such as: Class I for
employees: Class II for Employers, traders, self employed and any other independent
workers: Class III Housewives (this has now been amended for all people of working
age, who have had a break in employment, or earn too little for it to be recorded):
Class IV Others of working age or not working (self employed).
The National Insurance scheme is still in force today, some changes have since
been made to the insurance classes, but it still has the same point. The class you
pay depends on your employment status and how much you earn, and whether you
have any gaps in your National Insurance record. A great way to make the National
Insurance more functional was changing the original two piece document just to
one. Over 20 million people received these documents, so in essence this saved time,
money and paperwork. Beveridge s overall goal was to set in motion a strong Social
Insurance Scheme that was functional and up to date, benefiting all involved to make

The Effects Of Socioeconomic Modernity And Civic
Community
Despite its personal effects, money can feel decidedly impersonal in an advanced
economy. A young debtor s obligations, for instance, might very well find its way
into a mutual fund her parents own. The idea of civic community, on the other hand,
feels infinitely more personal. After all, even members of groups as large as the
ACLU can feel a connection with their peers.
Although money can feel personal and groups impersonal, most political scientists
separate the effects of economic and civic culture when explaining democratization.
In his book, for example, Putnam analyzes the effects of socioeconomic modernity
and civic community in distinct sections. Researching the two effects separately has
advantages for one, theories with only one explanatory variable become simpler. Yet
the same forces leading to the development of civic communities also lead to the
development of economic ones, and from such communities spring modern markets.
As much as the masses champion small businesses and denigrate big ones, large
organizations are essential to a modern economy. For all their missteps, businesses
with thousands of employees enjoy economies of scale that let them fulfill crucial
economic functions. Replacing FedEx or UPS with a plethora of tiny businesses, for
example, would undoubtedly hurt America s logistics networks. Replacing the Big

Study of Organizational Culture in Singapore
Introduction The reason behind choosing Singapore as my country of interest
mainly was that I did my Co Op there in Fall of 2011. Personally I loved the country
as a work place. Also I noticed during my stay there the amount of awareness they
had about green technologies and environmental issues. Singapore is like the best of
both worlds. Culturally and climate wise similar to Asia and rules, regulations and
policies of those like any western country. Singapore has a mixed racial population.
There are Chinese (mainly), Malay, British expats, Indians staying there as Permanent
Residents for so many years harmoniously together.

This means that, Singaporeans always work as part of a group. And rather than
individual achievements they value group achievements. Also they are more
comfortable with group decisions. * Masculinity/ Feminity: Though the general
culture of Singapore can be characterized by masculinity, there is a moderate level
of feminity in that. The Femininity societal norm for Singaporeans is to be people
oriented and more concerned with societal ties. Due to the importance placed on
social relations, members in society feel that they are interdependent [2] *
Uncertainty Avoidance: The HERMES (A multinational company for whom the
survey was conducted) study reveals that Singapore is represented by a low UA
Index. Since Singaporeans are bound or are used to follow very strict government
policies and rules, they cannot tolerate uncertainty. They are meticulous in their
approach towards work.
One definition of an organizational culture is the collective programming of the mind
which distinguishes the members of one organization from another (Hofstede 1991:
262). Regarding Trompenaars corporate culture descriptions, I would say there is no
particular culture that is a fit to this country. Since it s a blend of different types of
people, there are so many types of behavioral patterns that it is difficult to categorize
the whole country
The Historical Representation Of The Canadian Wilderness
Alfred Joseph Casson s (1898 1992) art work captures more than the historical
representation of the idyllic landscape of the Canadian wilderness. It is the premise
of this paper, Casson s paintings reflect and represent the economic and political
environment of two time periods Post World War I and the Great Depression
, and post
World War II. The two examples of his paintings are, The Old Mill Elora, (35.6 x
40.7 cm), 1930, watercolour on paper, in private collection, painted post World
War I during the great depression; and the other Prelude, 1945, oil on Masonite,
(76.2 x 91.5 cm), in The Faculty Club, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario,
painted post World War II (Paul Duval, 1980, p. 18). Comparative analysis of these
two paintings will support this theory as well as research. Casson s personal
perspective was influenced by the economic and political environment at these
times which were recorded through his art work, both in his commercial career as
an engraver and designer, and, as an artist. One could argue, Casson was a blend of
creative commercial genius and artistic designer that communicated the ideology of
rural landscapes and rustic buildings into his paintings. The sharp lines and block
colors are reminiscent of the lithographic designs. He represented craftsmanship and
creative quality in his commercial work and art. His field excursions to remote areas
in Ontario were artistic experiences to sketch and paint as part of his development of
his skills.

Norman Mailer s The Fight fits a mold of story telling described by Jerome Bruner,
but not in the ways expected. The characters are more than just characters and the
plot fits more a mode of telling than an actual plot. Considering Bruner s features
of narrative that he describes in The Narrative Construction of Reality , through an
illustration of canonicity and breach, the protagonist of The Fight is the The
Rumble in the Jungle itself, while the antagonist of the story is the breach of the
fight. Canonicity and breach, as explained by Bruner, is the breach of a canonical
script. This breach breaks the norms or standards of what is expected. A tale must
break the normal state to be worth telling and hold value in daily living. A breach
must differ from the norm, but the method of defying this norm is up to the teller.
The canonicity of the story is the fight itself. Canonicity would be the desired
outcome, without any changes or obstructions. The fight in its simplest form was
what Don King staged. He wanted to see the better fighter, former heavyweight
versus current heavyweight. This is the protagonist of the story. People wanted to
know who was the better fighter, and also wanted to see a good fight. King wanted
to promote professional boxing. At its simplest form, this is what the viewer or
reader desires, so The Rumble in the Jungle is the canon and protagonist of the story.
The breech in the story is the obstructions put on the fight. One of the largest of
Microsoft Antitrust Law Case
On October 19, 1998, Microsoft was in a courtroom. The technology giant and
household name was on trial for monopolizing the software industry. They were
accused of forcing computer makers to use their internet browser as part of the
Windows software. In the process violated Section 1 and 2 of the Sherman Antitrust
Law. According to Section 1 of the Sherman
Antitrust Law, companies are prohibited to make agreements in restraint of trade
such as price fixing, refusals to deal, bid rigging, etc. The parties involved might be
competitors, customers, or a combination of the two. (economics) Section 2 of the
Sherman Antirust Law states that no company is allowed to monopolize or attempted
to monopolize in their industry. Through anticompetitive means, Microsoftbegan to

Zichy 2
On November, 1990, Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson declared that Microsoft was
acting as a monopoly in the personal computer operation systems market and was
taking actions to eliminate opposing companies. After the ruling, Microsoft
appealed and the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned Judge Jackson s rulings.
They decided not to break up Microsoft and would give them a less harsh antitrust
penalty. Microsoft decided to create a settlement with the companies it harmed. The
settlement required Microsoft to share it application programing interfaces and
required three people to have full access to Microsoft s system, records, and source
code for five years.
In my personal opinion, I think that it is unfair for someone to break the law and get
caught and not receive the punishment they deserve. Microsoft got a slap on the wrist
for their actions. This decision by the courts set a precedent for other companies in
the future. They will look at this case and see how they can get away with trying to
monopolize the market. When companies try to monopolize the market, competition
is destroyed. Microsoft should have been
punished
A Triple Bottom Line Model
Introduction
A triple bottom line model never merely quantifies an accomplishment or rather the
wellbeing of a company through its conventional monetary bottom line. However, it
similarly measures social, ethical as well as environment performance of the
company. Triple bottom line typically is an incessant process that shall assist the
company in concentrating into the performance of a more sustainable business
whereas demonstrating to local communities together with employees of that
particular firm that it is not merely looking forward on profit making, but similarly a
greater common good for the company operations (Hitchcock and Willard, 2009). It is
a sustainable model for business that balances financial success, community
participation together with ecological sustainability. The firm which employs triple
bottom line towards capturing the set significances, processes as well as issues of the
company might decrease and determine whichever harms resulting from their
operations then create economic, social as well as environmental values of that the
company . It is typically outlined that any is supposed to take into account the needs
of the company s shareholders, employees, stakeholders, governments, clients,
business partners, local communities together with the entire public. Reporting
through Triple bottom line (TBL) is currently turning out to be more ordinarily used
across several sectors within society. Even though the notion was born outside any
business

Forster s inconspicuous test of all hegemonic fixings has made his depiction of the relationship between the East and the West exceptionally persuading. The article written by Don Moser was based on a true story happened in Tucson, Arizona. Charles Schmid, the main character of the article, was a serial killer in Tucson who killed three teenage girls. Moser s article not only managed to turn a local crime story into an international news, it also inspired Joyce Carol Oateswho often based her stories on news to write a story about the murders. About 20 years later, this short story was brought to the silver screen by Joyce Chopra. Smooth Talk is an adaption of Oates short story, however, more details were added into the movie in order... She was a misfit when she attended a private school she cut classes, was suspected of stealing, and got into trouble with juvenile authorities for attempting to steal at a liquor store (Moser 84). However, Connie was not as bad as Gretchen as described by Oates. The only misbehaving things she did in the story was she fought with her mother a lot and went to places with her friends that were meant for adults. Charles Schmid laid his eyes on Gretchen at a public swimming pool. He then followed her home and knocked on the door, and Gretchen answered it by saying, Don t I know you? (Moser 84). They talked for an hour and that was how their relationship started. In the story, Arnold Friend set eyes on Connie at Speedway. He watched her as she walked out from the restaurant, and said to her, Gonna get you, baby (Oates 210). He went to Connie s house a few days later when she was home alone while her family was out to a barbecue at an aunt s place. They talked as Arnold tried to sweet talk Connie into getting into his car. And when sweet talking did not quite work out, he then threatened that he would harm her family if she did not follow what he said. Inspired by Alleen s murder, Arnold Friend had an accomplice, Ellie, who stayed in the car the whole time when Arnold was seducing Connie. In the article, Alleen s neighbor and friend, Mary French tricked Alleen into going out for a drink so Charles Schmid and John Saunders

Remember, not all German s were Nazis. ― Erin Gruwell, The Freedom Writers Diary Erin Gruwell is the author of the book The Freedom Writers Diary, it was published by Random House in 1999. The book described Erin Gruwells first year as an English school teacher at Woodrow Wilson High Schoolin Long Beach, California. It featured her trials and difficulties within her unteachable class. Gruwell quickly learned that her students had more to worry about than homework; her students went home to gunfire, gangs, drugs, and a host of other scary situations. The students were convinced that they had nothing to learn from a white woman who had never experienced firsthand the violence, discrimination, and hatred that was part of their everyday lives. • 5. The Armenian Genocide Committed By The Ottoman Empire The Armenian genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire against its minority Armenian population from 1915 1917 left an estimated 1.5 million dead and to date, not one individual has been tried for these egregious crimes. The mass killings of Armenians by the Ottoman Empire in World War I and Jews by the Nazis in World War II shocked the conscience of the international community and led to the creation of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (CPPCG), in order to hold the perpetrators of crimes of this magnitude accountable. In its preamble, the UN charter sets the objective to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained . The genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire and Nazis made it clear that an international standard must be set in order to protect the rights of individuals. The UN has attempted to establish international law with the creation of the CPPCG and other resolutions, however, these resolutions are simply words on paper unless they are properly enforced. In this essay I will be examining whether the United Nationshave been successful in its enforcement international law, specifically the CPPCG. In technology, we also refer to history and its influence on the economy and environmental factors that might influence the technology that we use today, as well as how we can improve/change those factors (incorporated with science) (Motshekga, 2011). The only difference in views that comes to play is when we compare our standards of science and technology to those of other countries /curriculums that might undergo different factors than us (Motshekga, 2011). When teaching natural sciences and technology, teachers need to promote an understanding of seeing these subjects as activities to promote curiosity and enjoyment about the world and that what we encounter around us. The history of science and technology should also be integrated with other subjects. The Outsiders portrays similar struggles with young white males of a low socioeconomic class. Both films take place in tough neighborhoods where many young men are killed due to violent crimes, like drive bys or street fights. Both films also depict a main character who is struggling with his own identity and place in the community; however, The Outsiders takes on a much darker tone than Boyz n the Hood likely due to the point the director of Boyz n the Hood was trying to make on ending black on black violence. • 10. Narrative Devices In Crimes And Misdemeanors In the film Crimes and Misdemeanors, Woody Allen frames his main character, Judah Rosenthal, in a multitude of ways. At the start of the film, the audience is introduced to Rosenthal by hearing an admiring speech about him at an award banquet. However, during this speech, the audience sees a flashback of him burning an intercepted letter from his mistress, Delores, that reveals their relationship to his wife. Delores continues to pressure Rosenthal to leave his wife, and Judah believes the only solution is murder. Finally, when he admits to Cliff, the film s other leading role, that he has outgrown his mistakes, he is able to cherish his wife and daughter. Woody Allenmanipulates the audience s perception of Judah Rosenthal by using different framings devices through a nonlinear method of storytelling to create a positive image of an evil character. At the award banquet, Rosenthal s wife points out how he s blushing during the positive speech and he has a concerned look on his face. This creates an immediate attraction to Rosenthal, which toys with the audience s emotions. First impressions have a strong impact, so the audience will subconsciously see Judah as a positive image. The framing allows the audience not to dismiss Judah as a villain for the crimes he committed. Halfway through the speech, the audience witnesses Rosenthal s flashback to when he discovered the letter. The audience realizes Judah cannot be completely trusted. As a result, the audience feels mislead

The Gay Lives of Frederick the Great and William Iii The Gay Lives of Frederick the Great and William III Frederick the Great of Prussia and William III of the Dutch Republic were two well known great leaders of Europe. They lived decades apart, William from 1650 to 1702, and Frederick from 1712 to 1786, yet had uncannily similar lives, in many aspects. These leaders, because of a somewhat controversial past, have lost many important clues about what their lives were really like. Perhaps Frederick s best known and interesting affair was with the famous French poet Voltaire. Frederick s love for French culture encouraged him to reach out to Voltaire, and in 1736 the 24 year old prince sent a letter to the 22 year old, already quite famous philosopher. Thus began their friendship, and they kept a close friendship, or possibly more throughout their lives. Still, there was a conflict of interest between them. Preceding Frederick s coronation, Voltaire Never tired of comparing Frederick to Apollo, Alcibiades and the youthful Marcus Aurelius (Strachey 170). Frederick tried to keep Voltaire around, even offering him positions in the court as he still very much valued Voltaire s opinions. The biggest part of my job was answering all the customer phone calls. At any point in the day, a customer might call to ask about their account. I answer the phone and assist the customer with anything they need. Customers usually want to know their current balance or if a check has entered their account yet, but sometimes they want to know about the last few transactions so I go over those and give them the information they are requesting. Many of the same customers call frequently so I began recognizing their voices and they started referring to me as the man in bookkeeping since the other Bookkeeping employees are women. Personally, I think that knowing the customers and their needs helps to maintain the home town banking that WCB is well known for around our community and the surrounding areas. I enjoy speaking with and assisting our customers, many of them I see and know personally around the town. It is nice to establish these connections

There is question whether these adolescents had stronger ethnic identity as a result of their experiences with discrimination or whether they perceived discrimination because they were more outward with their ethnicity. Both directions are equally plausible. In the first scenario, rejection from the majority would lead to individuals seeking acceptance from their ethnic group thereby increasing ethnic identity. In the latter scenario, research has shown that individuals who are highly identified with their racial/ethnic group tend to be more sensitive to intergroup inequalities and be more prone to labeling negative encounters as discrimination (Crocker Major, 1989; Sellers Shelton, 2003; Shelton Sellers, 2000). Furthermore, those highly identifying with their ethnicity may become more aware of others experience in their group and have more opportunities to hear about those experiences. Longitudinal studies may clarify the directionality of this relationship by investigating changes in these variables as time passes. While having a strong ethnic identity is important, these experiences of discrimination may prevent adolescents from developing a healthy sense of acculturation and may cause them to have difficulty integrating with society. Stepick and Stepick (2002) noted that when young people are treated differently by the dominant American

  • 21. Prosthetic Arm Rehabilitation Using Arm Prosthetics to Aid Patient Rehabilitation in Occupational Therapy Megan Rafferty, Drew Petersen Patients with amputations face large restrictions on their daily activities and functioning due to some of the problems that they encounter with the block prosthetic limbs available. Part of the reason for this restriction is that body powered prostheses lack the ability to function at more than one degree of freedom at a given time. Despite only being able to successfully perform the particular motion in a given plane of movement, the restrictions can be frustrating and also prevents the prosthetic arm from maximizing its potential. A recent surgical technique, targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR), transfers residual arm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This allows the patient to develop sufficient endurance required to proceed with TMR myoelectric prosthetic training. As a result of the redirected pathways from the brain to the host muscle, the OT must have in depth knowledge of peripheral nerve distribution in order to perform the appropriate strengthening exercises. In addition, the therapist must know the details of the surgery and the possible effects for every patient since each case is unique. An occupational therapist s knowledge of TMR is also advantageous for a myriad of patients who are physically active, due to the commonality of shoulder dislocations. Patients with prosthetics have an increased number of EMG signals, which result from more intuitive, controlled upper body movements with less effort[p1] . Additionally, these developed prosthetic movements are more efficient and fluid without the necessity of switching between degrees of freedom. Patients with TMR demonstrate increased performance in comparison to conventional myoelectric control (Stubblefield, 2009). For example, TMR patients were 50 percent faster in a clothespin moving test and improved in the Assessment of Motor and Process Skills. Due to the twofold effects of surgical and postoperative therapy intricacy, TMR provides the opportunity for clinical skill enhancement through the guidance of occupational therapists and thus

Key Performance Indicators ( Kpis ) As you know, in our current business environment, most companies have finite resources and budget but they share a common objective which is to do more with less and stay nimble . Extracting key insight from business data is crucial for management to formulate strategy to drive improvement in our organization to counter competition as the industry evolves. In addition, having the information at the right time to departments and individuals will motivate the employees to act on this information in relation to corporate or departmental goals. Due to the recent trend in visualization and advanced technology in dashboard, corporations are increasingly captivated with dashboards due to their vast ability to allow the users visualize data in an interactive and engaging manner. The ability to use key analytics and technology to manage performance through the use of key performance indicators (KPIs) provides great benefits to companies and corporations. Companies may use KPIs to set targets, identify trends, determine potential issues and opportunities, and plan future activities to help increase performance. With that in mind, I recommend to start an initiative to develop a set of relevant KPIs to better measure our contract performance. As contract performance is a clear indicator of the success of our business, we need a mean to measure the effectiveness of this component in order for us to take action at the right time if we fall short on our target. Applied Behavioral Analysis Intervention ABA is based on principles of behavioral therapy and is one of the most effective interventions for children that have autism. According to Healy, O Connor, Leader, and Kenny (2008), early intensive behavioral intervention was effective with preschool children that had autism because they reported high achievements in normative functioning, which was measured under practical outcomes and standard psychological methods. The study also concludes that since Applied Behavior Analysisis a treatment, it can fabricate systematic, substantial and durable effects under particular conditions. This study provided an example where 40% to 60 % children before reaching five who had two years and ten months treatment improved well enough that they were ready to be enrolled in public schools. The research shows that Applied Behavior Analysis is effective with children that have autism, but there are many other effective interventions that can be integrated with ABA. For example Lim and Draper (2011) incorporated music with Applied Behavioral Analysis and found that both of music and ABA were effective and there was no significant differences in between them. Moreover, results specifically indicated that music was as important as speech training to form functional verbal operants in children that have autism. The results also stated that when music is paired with ABA, musical stimuli could enhance verbal production in children with autism. In

But try as he might, Wells who devoted his life to the study of cephalopods could not tap the origins of the creature s intelligence. Now, a new breakthrough in octopus genome mapping has revealed that the strange creatures have more secrets than we ever realized. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alien????? Everything Octopus For starters, the DNA of an octopus contains nearly 10,000 more gene codes than that of a human. Various clusters of these gene codes perform different tasks and octopus genes are specially equipped to do very versatile things. For instance, six different octopus gene codes combine to produce an octopus s ability to rapidly camouflage itself. Another gene type, protocadherin, allows the development of neurons and neural transmissions. Most mammals, including humans, only have 70 or so protocadherins. The octopus has 168. And the octopus has one of the largest gene families devoted to development of any animal we ve mapped so far second only to the elephant. Perhaps the biggest surprise is that the DNA of an octopus is essentially like a road map where the road signs keep hopping around. The octopus has an extremely large number of jumping genes, called transposons, that can easily change their position in a protein chain. Researchers also found evidence in the octopus s RNA suggesting that they can easily alter their own protein sequences. In the researchers press release, Caroline Albertin, who co led the study,

Based on real events that unfolded, The Glass Menagerie really opened our eyes to Tennessee Williams s family life. The Glass Menagerie depicts Williams childhood. Surrogacy should not be allowed at all it is a danger to our world and is offensive to religions. Surrogacy is bad for children. When kids grow up they will be confused on who their real parents are. It can be very scarring for children because they will wonder why that would ever have to happen and how it happened. Surrogacy can be very awkward for children when they grow up. It can lead to a very confusing relationship between the child and the mother and no child should ever have to go through a damaging experience like that (Surrogate Motherhood). The act of surrogacy is against many religions beliefs and many religions do not like surrogacy happening around the world. Church leaders share these concerns and are working to stymie commercial surrogacy legislation in states across the nation (Persons, Not Products). The new system also implemented classes to the National Insurance scheme, such as: Class I for employees: Class II for Employers, traders, self employed and any other independent workers: Class III Housewives (this has now been amended for all people of working age, who have had a break in employment, or earn too little for it to be recorded): Class IV Others of working age or not working (self employed). A young debtor s obligations, for instance, might very well find its way into a mutual fund her parents own. The idea of civic community, on the other hand, feels infinitely more personal. After all, even members of groups as large as the ACLU can feel a connection with their peers. Although money can feel personal and groups impersonal, most political scientists separate the effects of economic and civic culture when explaining democratization. In his book, for example, Putnam analyzes the effects of socioeconomic modernity and civic community in distinct sections. Researching the two effects separately has advantages for one, theories with only one explanatory variable become simpler. Yet the same forces leading to the development of civic communities also lead to the development of economic ones, and from such communities spring modern markets. As much as the masses champion small businesses and denigrate big ones, large organizations are essential to a modern economy. For all their missteps, businesses with thousands of employees enjoy economies of scale that let them fulfill crucial economic functions. Replacing FedEx or UPS with a plethora of tiny businesses, for example, would undoubtedly hurt America s logistics networks. Replacing the Big Three automakers with smaller ones would likewise cause cars to become unaffordable to most. To be clear, small businesses play a vital

This means that, Singaporeans always work as part of a group. And rather than individual achievements they value group achievements. Also they are more comfortable with group decisions. * Masculinity/ Feminity: Though the general culture of Singapore can be characterized by masculinity, there is a moderate level of feminity in that. The Femininity societal norm for Singaporeans is to be people oriented and more concerned with societal ties. Due to the importance placed on social relations, members in society feel that they are interdependent [2] * Uncertainty Avoidance: The HERMES (A multinational company for whom the survey was conducted) study reveals that Singapore is represented by a low UA Index. Since Singaporeans are bound or are used to follow very strict government policies and rules, they cannot tolerate uncertainty. They are meticulous in their approach towards work. One definition of an organizational culture is the collective programming of the mind which distinguishes the members of one organization from another (Hofstede 1991: 262). Regarding Trompenaars corporate culture descriptions, I would say there is no particular culture that is a fit to this country. Since it s a blend of different types of people, there are so many types of behavioral patterns that it is difficult to categorize the whole country

The Historical Representation Of The Canadian Wilderness Alfred Joseph Casson s (1898 1992) art work captures more than the historical representation of the idyllic landscape of the Canadian wilderness. It is the premise of this paper, Casson s paintings reflect and represent the economic and political environment of two time periods Post World War I and the Great Depression , and post World War II. The two examples of his paintings are, The Old Mill Elora, (35.6 x 40.7 cm), 1930, watercolour on paper, in private collection, painted post World War I during the great depression; and the other Prelude, 1945, oil on Masonite, (76.2 x 91.5 cm), in The Faculty Club, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, painted post World War II (Paul Duval, 1980, p. 18). Comparative analysis of these two paintings will support this theory as well as research. Casson s personal perspective was influenced by the economic and political environment at these times which were recorded through his art work, both in his commercial career as an engraver and designer, and, as an artist. One could argue, Casson was a blend of creative commercial genius and artistic designer that communicated the ideology of rural landscapes and rustic buildings into his paintings. The sharp lines and block colors are reminiscent of the lithographic designs. He represented craftsmanship and creative quality in his commercial work and art. His field excursions to remote areas in Ontario were artistic experiences to sketch and paint as part of his development of his skills.

The characters are more than just characters and the plot fits more a mode of telling than an actual plot. Considering Bruner s features of narrative that he describes in The Narrative Construction of Reality , through an illustration of canonicity and breach, the protagonist of The Fight is the The Rumble in the Jungle itself, while the antagonist of the story is the breach of the fight. Canonicity and breach, as explained by Bruner, is the breach of a canonical script. This breach breaks the norms or standards of what is expected. A tale must break the normal state to be worth telling and hold value in daily living. A breach must differ from the norm, but the method of defying this norm is up to the teller. The canonicity of the story is the fight itself. Canonicity would be the desired outcome, without any changes or obstructions. The fight in its simplest form was what Don King staged. He wanted to see the better fighter, former heavyweight versus current heavyweight. This is the protagonist of the story. People wanted to know who was the better fighter, and also wanted to see a good fight. King wanted to promote professional boxing. At its simplest form, this is what the viewer or reader desires, so The Rumble in the Jungle is the canon and protagonist of the story. The breech in the story is the obstructions put on the fight. One of the largest of

They were accused of forcing computer makers to use their internet browser as part of the Windows software. In the process violated Section 1 and 2 of the Sherman Antitrust Law. According to Section 1 of the Sherman Antitrust Law, companies are prohibited to make agreements in restraint of trade such as price fixing, refusals to deal, bid rigging, etc. The parties involved might be competitors, customers, or a combination of the two. Zichy 2 On November, 1990, Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson declared that Microsoft was acting as a monopoly in the personal computer operation systems market and was taking actions to eliminate opposing companies. After the ruling, Microsoft appealed and the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned Judge Jackson s rulings. They decided not to break up Microsoft and would give them a less harsh antitrust penalty. Microsoft decided to create a settlement with the companies it harmed. The settlement required Microsoft to share it application programing interfaces and required three people to have full access to Microsoft s system, records, and source code for five years. In my personal opinion, I think that it is unfair for someone to break the law and get caught and not receive the punishment they deserve. Microsoft got a slap on the wrist for their actions. This decision by the courts set a precedent for other companies in the future. They will look at this case and see how they can get away with trying to monopolize the market. When companies try to monopolize the market, competition is destroyed. Microsoft should have been punished
