Essay On William Shakespeare
Crafting an essay on William Shakespeare can be a challenging endeavor due to the vastness of
his literary contributions, historical significance, and the multitude of perspectives surrounding
his works. The difficulty lies in capturing the essence of Shakespeare's impact on literature and
culture within the constraints of an essay.
Firstly, delving into the life of Shakespeare requires meticulous research to provide a
comprehensive overview. The scarcity of concrete biographical details about the Bard
complicates the task, as scholars often rely on historical records and conjecture to piece together
his life story.
Moreover, analyzing Shakespeare's plays and sonnets demands a deep understanding of the
nuances of Elizabethan language and literary devices. Deciphering the complexities of his works,
such as the intricate plots, multifaceted characters, and layered themes, requires a keen literary
sensibility.
Attempting to encapsulate the cultural and historical context in which Shakespeare wrote adds
another layer of difficulty. Exploring the socio-political dynamics of the Elizabethan era and the
Renaissance period is essential to appreciate the backdrop against which Shakespeare's genius
unfolded.
Furthermore, the vast body of critical interpretations and scholarly debates surrounding
Shakespearean works can be overwhelming. Navigating through the myriad of perspectives,
from feminist and post-colonial readings to psychoanalytical analyses, demands a nuanced and
well-researched approach.
Concluding such an essay poses a challenge in summarizing the immense impact Shakespeare
had on the literary world and beyond. Crafting a conclusion that does justice to his enduring
legacy while leaving a lasting impression on the reader requires finesse and a thoughtful synthesis
of the discussed aspects.
In conclusion, writing an essay on William Shakespeare involves navigating through the
complexities of his life, understanding the intricacies of his works, exploring historical and
cultural contexts, and engaging with diverse critical perspectives. It demands a blend of research
skills, literary analysis, and the ability to synthesize information cohesively. For those seeking
assistance with such intricate tasks, various resources, including essay writing services like

Labor Unions And The United States
Labor unions and movements play an important role in the United States. Although
they are treated synonymously, the labor movements encompass a broader scope
than labor unions. Some of the examples of current labor unions and movements
include National Guestworker, Domestic Workers United and Wal Mart workers
groups. The heart of the current labor initiatives in the United States can be traced
back to the National Labor Relations Act of 1935 (Collier Collier, 2002). The labor
law was imperative since it was intended to put the power of the government behind
the worker s right to organize unions and bargain collectively with their employers on
issues such as wages, hours and working conditions. In the last thirty years, labor
unions have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The workers began to think of factories and industries as a threat to their wages and
status. The workers soon created fledgling craft unions in an effort to resist
undesirable working conditions. The craft unions sought to resist sudden wage
reductions, increased working hours and unsafe working conditions. The unions
also aimed to protect their political, social and economic rights. The unions moved
from local to national movements as both labor and product markets became
national as a result of improvements such as transportation (Collier Collier, 2002).
Several factors inspired the early labor movement beyond the job interest of the
craft members. It harbored the ideals of a just society based on the Ricardian labor
theory of value and the republican conceptions of the American Revolution (Brody,
1993). Such ideals and revolutionary conceptions fostered social equality, honest
labor and depended on an independent and virtuous citizenship. The industrial
capitalism and the associated economic transformations contradicted the labor s
vision. The solution as early labor leaders saw it was to categorize the society into
the poor and the rich. The advocates of equal rights presented a series of reform
beginning with the workingmen s parties. Some of the notable labor reforms created
included the Knights of Labor and the National Labor Union (Brody, 1993). During
the 1880s, the labor unions reinforced their relationship
King And Douglass Similarities
Have you ever heard of the speech I Have a Dream from the late Martin Luther King
Jr.?
You d be pretty sure many people have heard of it, but has anyone ever really read
it and thought about it? This could be like The Hypocrisy of American Slavery, a
piece of work produced by Frederick Douglass. They both argued that African
Americans have a natural right to equality (Renfro 1). Douglass once said, The white
man s happiness cannot be purchased by the black man s misery. Here is just another
point of there not being enough equality for being an African Americanduring those
times of struggle. The fact that King and Douglass had used their oral power to try
and fight throughout their lives was a very substantial task. They are ... Show more

They came to be very influential people for the people of their time and for many
years up to now. King and Douglass also had their staple in time for being great
Civil Rights activists. They played key parts in the fight to lead blacks from their
lack of power and equality for themselves. Having the struggles to deal with within
slavery and segregated times, blacks wanted to band together. King was vital in the
making of acts during those times, such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 ( Martin
Luther King Jr. 2). This act was what outlawed most of the discrimination for
colored people. Douglass had his own contributions, but they were in some cases
not as major as the things King put forward to gain equality for blacks. As time
went on the two began earning their unparalleled oratory skills. With the power of
just their voices and hands they were granted with so much more notoriety. Both
of them have similar oratory styles. They both had the amazing ability to move
their audience to action (Renfro 1). They were also publishers and produced many
great pieces of work. Douglass published three versions of his autobiography during
his lifetime, revising and expanding on his work each time. My Bondage and My
Freedom appeared in 1855. In 1881, Douglass published Life and Times of Frederick
Douglass, which he revised in 1892 ( Frederick
Elizabeth I, Monarch Of England, And Marie De L ...
Elizabeth I, monarch of England, and Marie de l Incarnation, a French nun, both
invoked God and other forms of religious power to stake their claims to authority.
Elizabeth s role as a queen came at a time when her country was going through
political turmoil. Marie s role as a missionary in New France was to civilize the
indigenous people. Although working to better their countries, both of these writers
are vastly different due to their social positions. While Elizabeth had the substantial
task of ruling over her country, Marie was serving her country as a missionary;
however, both writers utilize religionto accomplish their various duties.
Marie utilized her understanding of religion and the Native s understanding of
religion to build a relationship built on trust. She arrived in modern day Quebec in
the late 1630 s as a missionary from her country to educate and civilize the Natives
there to match European traditions. Marie found similarities with the indigenous
people as even though they didn t have a God, they had their own forms of worship.
In Letter 65 to her son, she answers his questions regarding the Savages beliefs on
divinity. Certain ones adored the sun and offered its sacrifices. Others had recourse
to certain spirits who they said provided over the woods but all obeyed their dreams
as a divinity (Marie, 368). Even though the Natives did not have any exposure to the
True God before they met the Europeans, they still believed in some sort of higher
Shawshank Redemption Andy
What would you crawl through to be set free? Shawshank redemption is a
spectacular movie full of excitement and it has many dramatic scenes which have a
very large impact on the audience. The film the Shawshank redemption directed by
frank Darabont is truly amazing as it will make you think about geniuses that made
the story. It will definitely leave you wanting to see it again and again. In my opinion
I really enjoyed this film because of the way Andy has entered Shawshank prison,
Andy is brave and an intelligent man who helps others to do the same. However,
Shawshank redemption played by astonishing actors and assisted by effective
lighting, camera shots and costume to emphasise the importance throughout the film.

As when we saw Andy we already knew that he was different from the other
prisoners, as he was dressed differently from the rest of them. He was wearing a
suit and this represented that he had power, but now he s looking a bit scruffy and
you can see his power slipping away until it s completely taken away and then he s
dressed like them all, unimportant and powerless. An example of this is when
Andy first arrived to Shawshank prison, he was wearing a suit compared to the
others they were untidy and dirty. The first thing that pops into Reds head, he
knew Andy was a brainy, intelligence young man with less friends. This shows how
Andy is hopeful and patient, Andy won t give up on his dream of living the free
life he s entitled to, no matter how impossible it seems. Another example is when
Andy enters Shawshank prison and meets the warden, and the other police men s.
Andy is now wearing the prison clothes like the other prisoners; this shows how
Andy is no longer strong and powerful. He is now stuck in a cell with no friends
and is powerless. Andy was different from most prisoners; he was quieter but he
never lost his mind like many new prisoners. He kept to himself, but many prisoners
didn t like that because they thought Andy thought he was better than all of them.
Mentally Andy Deferens was kind of in a weird place. He was sitting in prison, but

How To Farm A Better Fish Analysis
How to Farm a Better Fish by Joel K. Bourne, Jr. was published in National
Geographic s June, 2014 edition magazine. This particular article characterizes the
differences between the various types of aquaculture, as well as what species to feed
and the ingredients that make up the food given. The reporter who composed this
editorial informed the reader of the advantages and downfalls of an indoor fishtank
vs. an outdoor fish pen. The reporter pointed out the numerous ways an aquacultural
company may feed their harvest of fish. He even explained that some fish farms have
a whole ecosystem of aquatic animals and plants that they feed instead, to supply the
whole food chain with enough nutrients. This is a rather important article because...

The writer introduced us to Bill Martin, the president of Blue Ridge Aquaculture,
located in Virginia. His company owns the largest indoor aquacultural farm in the
world. Martin has over twelve thousand pounds of tilapia, a common freshwater
fish largely enjoyed in America by seafood lovers everywhere. Using this indoor
fish farming company as an example, the writer describes how Martin keeps the
water the fish live in clean and healthy. Blue Ridge Aquaculture has a massive
water treatment system that pumps half a million gallons of water from their own,
personal underground aquifer. Powered by a large supply of coal, eighty five
percent of the water fish swim in is rotated throughout the treatment system, while
the rest is sent to a local sewage plant, soon after proceeding to the nearest landfill.
When interviewed, Bill Martin states that his fish are happy living in his company
s indoor fish tank. One may interpret a fish s feelings by how healthy it is. A dead
fish is clearly unhappy, while a live one is. Martin tops it all off by saying he hasn
t had a single tank of tilapia completely die out yet. By looking at Martin s dialogue,
anyone can see that he is proud of his company, and believes it to be the best
aquacultural farm ever. Take in mind that indoor fish tanks have no waste impact on
the oceans since it is a one hundred percent controlled faculty. However, in order to
obtain a large enough area to create an indoor tank used for holding a very substantial
amount of fish, the company has to mow down the natural landmarks and terrain
around that place. For example, thousands tropical mangroves were bulldozed over to
support the aquacultural evolution in the 1980 s, resulting in colossal habitat
destruction. It is equally important to know that just because the fish aren t dying in
their tanks doesn t mean they live in the best environment. Indoor
Essay about Ranking The Present Enterprise Purchasers
Once the choice to offer has been created, the entrepreneur should be conscious of the
wide range of possible company customers. Just as little company itself has become
more innovative, the people enthusiastic about purchasing them have also become
more divergent and complicated. The following are some of the present most
effective groups of company buyers:
Family Associates Members
Members of the vendor s own family form a traditional type of business buyer: tried,

events involved because they imagine a continual, seeing that as a primary advantage.

Economical Purchasers
This type of customer comes with perhaps the lengthiest record of criteria and
requirements. These customers want highest possible, make use of, but they also are
the right classification for the supplier who wants to keep handle his organization
after it is marketed. Most economical customers provide a reduced sticker cost than
other kinds, but they do often allow for what may be essential to the supplier other
than the money such as choice of key workers, place, and other problems.
For a business to be of interest to a economical customer, the earnings must be
adequate not only to support current control, but also to offer a come back to the
proprietor.
Individual Customer
When it comes a chance to offer, most entrepreneurs of the little to mid sized
company move toward this customer. Many of these customers are older (aged 40
to 60) and have been well seasoned in the business industry. Being in the company is
a desire, and won many of them can well manage. The key to nearing this type of
customer is to discover out what it is they are really looking for.
The customer who needs to substitute a job is can be an outstanding probability.
Although being in a company is more than a job, and the threats engaged can terrify
this type of customer, they do have the hunger and the need. A further benefits is that
this type of customer comes with less strings and problems than

Analysis Of Frank Zappa, John Cage, And Pamela Z
Throughout this course, the composers we studied all had different approached to
creating music, and that is why many of them are well known today. The three most
notable composers who combine unusual elements in their music were Frank Zappa,
John Cage, and Pamela Z.
Frank Zappa was an American artist who had no desire to fit into a single style of
music, and he had no interest in creating music for cultural conventions. He created
music in the manners he saw fit. His music has influence from rock, pop, modern
classical, and jazz music, but his pieces are far from fitting into one of those labels.
The most notable album Frank Zappa created that was Jazz From Hell. This album
was highly unique because all the pieces on this album were ... Show more content on

Living Room Music is one his most performed pieces because it was fun for both
the players and the audience. In this piece, the player use common household items
as instruments, often times where house clothes, and are playing on a set designed
to look like a living room. The quartet uses unspecified items that could range from
magazines, newspapers, tables, wooden furniture, large books, the floor, the wall or
a door. Within in this piece there are four movements. This piece is an excellent
example of John Cage s interest in non traditional instruments and timbre. John Cage
was willing to push many boundaries in his pieces. Although some individuals may
not agree with John Cage s approach to music, I believe his pieces are a great
example of using unusual elements to create a music that is characteristic to Cage.
Pamela Z is a composer who performs her compositions with her highly developed
voice and computer software. Pamela Z, although trained in classical performance,
wanted to find a way to perform contemporary music. In order to perform
contemporary music, Pamela Z bought a delay unit and began creating loops using
her voice. Z was able to think about her voice in the areas of texture and rhythm, the
influence of outside texts, and how she could vary her vocal technique. One of
Pamela Z s most notable pieces that integrates the unusual elements of looping and
layer is Gaijin. Gaijin is the Japanese word for foreigner and this
Essay on Critique Of death Of The Author
Critique of quot;Death of the Author quot;
The title to the story quot; The Death of an Author, quot; by Roland Barthes,
suggests this story may be a fictional novel about the story of an author s death.
Perhaps one might pick it up, and skim the foreword in hopes that beneath the cover
of this book there would be a mystery, a story of detectives, eye witnesses, clues, and
a puzzle for the reader to solve. Before I read this story, the title quot; The Death of an
Author quot; brought to my imagination the biography of a writer slowly drinking
himself to death trying to finish the story of his life, but the author would be stuck
and depressed because his life is not a story as it is boring and repetitive. ... Show

I came to this conclusion after reading
quot; The Death of an Author quot; for the fourth or fifth time. I began to wonder
why does this man write this way? What caused him to have so much distrust toward
the critics? Those are the thoughts he was trying to persuade us not to think.
Barthes wanted the author of the story to be no more than a name printed on the
top or front of a book. Throughout the story quot;The Death of an Author, quot;
Barthes refers to the author as a scriptor in stating quot;Succeeding the Author, the
scriptor no longer bears within him passions, humors, feelings, impressions but
rather this immense dictionary from which he draws a writing that can know no
halt. quot; Barthes announces that a scriptor is superior to an author but they are
the same. Now if a scriptor is superior to an author this passage drags on and on,
never circulating around a single point. A scriptor does not try to make art of the
two hundred and fifty five symbols placed in front of him. A scriptor arranges the
symbols in an order that once decoded can be read back and can convey whatever
message the scriptor recorded. Barthes reveals his knowledge of this in writing,
quot;Once the author is removed, the claim to decipher a text becomes quite futile.
To give a text an Author is to impose a limit on that text, to furnish it with a final
signified, to close the writing. quot;

Mortgage Brokers
Buying a house can be complicated enough, but trying to sort out which mortgage is
best, what the different rates are, etc, can be like trying to pick your way through a
minefield. That s why using a mortgage broker is such a good idea, and one that
more and more homebuyers are starting to do.
Whereas previous generations of home buyers were content to simply arrange the
mortgage through their banks, today s buyers are different. With the Internet
offering new ways for people to look for deals on everything from home insurance to
car loans, mortgage lenders are no longer the ones in control. However, using a
mortgage broker is still more advisable than looking for offers by yourself.
Why a Mortgage Broker?
A mortgage broker is a certified professional and someone who has spent years
training to become an expert in mortgages. Regulated by the Financial Services
Authority (FSA), they have a strict set of guidelines that they must adhere to. This
includes the information they give you, and the ethical decisions they make regarding
any financial advice they provide to you. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even if a mortgage broker belongs to a company, you should still be offered a
greater choice when it comes to the type of mortgage you take out, as well as whom
you take it out with. Compare this to banks and building societies, which usually try
and arrange your mortgage solely with them, and the extra cost in using a broker are
more than worth it.
What does a Mortgage Broker do?
Because they are such experts in their field, a mortgage broker can offer a host of
services that you may not have received otherwise. As well as their advice, you can
also expect a broker to:
* Find the mortgage that s right for you
* Access to thousands of different lenders nationwide
* Provide a mortgage calculator that will help you decide how much you can
The Rhetorical Analysis Of Barack Obama s Pregural

In the year 2009, Barack Obama shares with us his first inauguration for him
becoming the forty fourth president. As Obama begins his presidency, it is a
tradition to write an appealing speech that is professional for his audience. Obama
writes this speech to let people know that we will not take for granted the acts
people did for us to live together equally. During President Obama s inaugural
speech, he remarked, On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty
grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas that for
too long have strangled our politicians . His use of strangled our politics is an
example of using Argument is War metaphor which on a basic level asserts that
there is a win or a loss, in case he refers to the past administration s politicians
fighting against each other s political party as the winner, and the resulting strangled

Essay on On Stuttering
Two Authors: same struggle In the short stories, On Stuttering, by Edward Hoagland,
and Me Talk Pretty, by David Sedaris, the authors discuss how they dealt with their
speech impediments. They wrote about the way they handled their difficulties with
speech, the different strategies they used, and how their limitations affected how they
felt about themselves. Although the two author s handicaps were not identical, they
both used similar approaches to overcome them. After 60 years of stuttering,
Hoagland reminisces about his struggles and triumphs to overcome his stuttering.

he is anything but fluent. Sedaris knew that he would be expected to perform. On his

Characters In William Armstrong s The Scarlet Ibis
Have you ever read about two characters that have so many things in common? Well,
in The Scarlet Ibis , the main character William Armstrong shares many similarities
with the beautiful red bird that is found limp in a tree outside of the family s house.
Early in the book, we find out that the main character, known as Doodle, had many
complications at birth, which lead to the severe health problems he now has to face
throughout his childhood. These problems were the reasons why Doodle was not
normal like the kids around him. Walking, swimming, running, and playing outside
were all things that Doodle had trouble partaking in. We are introduced to the Scarlet
Ibisin the middle of the book in a depressing, yet beautiful way. When we meet the
bird, it is lying in a tree, weak and frail. Quickly, we find a similarity that the two
characters share. Doodle and the Ibis both have something pushing them until they
die. For instance, Doodles brother was non stop pushing him to be better and
better each day. He collapsed onto the grass like a half empty flour sack. It was as
if he had no bones in his little legs. Don t hurt me, Brother, he warned (Hurst 467).
As you can see, Doodle is forced daily to try to stand on his own, in the field near
their house, which is not healthy for him. Knowing that Doodle has internal
problems, you would have thought that his brother would not have pushed him so
hard. Why would his brother be pushing him when he has so many problems, you
may ask.

The Control Environment Of Bernard L. Madoff
Investment...
What were the weaknesses in the control environment of Bernard L. Madoff
Investment Securities LLC? The control environment sets the tone of an
organization, influencing the control consciousness of its people. It is the foundation
for all other components of internal control, providing discipline and structure. The
Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO)
published the Internal Control Integrated Framework in 1992. As summarized above
one can see the importance of the implementation of an effective control environment,
as it sets the foundation for the other 4 components of internal control. The control
environment is made up fundamental smaller components. The ones that were
particularly relevant to BMIS are the use of board of directors and audit committee,
management philosophy and operating style, and human resource policies and
practices. If management doesn t prioritize control, then the rest of the organization
will not put precedence on following policies and procedures either. This was clearly
evident at Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC (BMIS), and ultimately led
to their downfall. BMIS did not maintain an effective control environment and as a
result it was exposed to many material weaknesses. Specifically it can be determined
that management did not have adequate controls in place to establish and
communicate the importance of control needs from top down. This is largely due to
the fact that the management s
State Of Ww2 ( Background )
State of WW2 (Background)
By 1945, the war between the Allies and Germany was slowly reaching its end. To
the west, Nazi leader Adolf Hitler s desperate counteroffensive against the Allies in
Belgium s Ardennes forest had ended in a total failure . As well as in the east, it
looked very hopeless for Germany(History.com Staff.). Meanwhile, the Western
Allies began considering the use of strategic bomb to fight against Germany s
stubborn defense. In January 1945, the Royal force began to consider plans for the
widespread bombing of cities in eastern Germany against Dresden and two other
cities(Hickman, Kennedy.). Also on February, the three leaders of the Allies, Franklin
Roosevelt, Joseph Stalin and Winston Churchill met at Yalta in the USSR and
compromised on their visions of the postwar World (History.com Staff. Bombing of
Dresden. ). The background is very significant because it shows the initial cause of
the bombing of Dresden.
The Yalta Conference
The topic of area bombing certain parts of Germany to end the World War II was
finalized in the Yalta Conference. The conference involved the Deputy Chief of the
Soviet General Staff, and General Aleksei Antonov . They had a talk about the
possibility of area bombing Germany and the possible cities they would target if they
were to bomb them. Some of the targets they discussed were Berlin and Dresden. In
the end, they ended the meeting with the final decision to bomb Dresden even though

A hacker by common definition is a person who uses computers to gain unauthorized
access to data. Although some computer hackers are committing crimes, there are
also computer hackers that counterattack these criminals and their actions are what
keep us safe from the criminals on the world wide web. Although they are hackers
they are what protect us from the criminals on the internet. Without them and their
actions we would live in complete chaos. On the internet there are billions of people

mischievous acts from cheating in a video game to corporate espionage. Black hat...

All hackers have great logical minds whenever they see Open Source programs the
first thing they think is what can I make this do, instead of the normal thought most
people would have which is what does it do. When thinking about it, you do not
think there is much difference but they are to different things. What does it do is
asking what the function and point more or less, but What can I make it do means
how can I individualize it to make it do what I want it to. Usually this means they
will take it apart analyze it and figure out how it works and then play with it until
they can manipulate it. Hackers like to challenge their mind, most take advantage of
the brilliant brain they have (Tendell). They cause damage, whether it be stealing
money to just misspelling words on government sites to make them look less
intelligent than they really are. Expert hackers have to complete understand this and

Tale Of Two Cities Revolution
Revolutions have occurred since the first oppressed people got fed up with a
tyrannical leader. It has been the cry of the downtrodden since the beginning of
time. Revolution is a word that symbolizes hope for a better future. It can be a
dangerous thing because if not successful life for the common people might get
worse than it originally was. Even if successful the new leaders can be as bad as
those preceding. Dickens captures the essence of a revolutiongone bad in his novel A
Tale Of Two Cities. The intent of this short essay is to discuss and analyze Dickens
treatment of the theme of revolution in A Tale of Two Cities. It will attempt to show
you how Dickens changes his mind midway through the novel about whether or not
the revolutionaries in France are better than their aristocratic predecessors.

In the time before the revolution any noble could have any commoner thrown in
jail without reason or a trial, just on a suspicion, as was done to Dr. Manette by the
Evremonde brothers. This did change after the revolution, when any person at all
could be thrown in jail with a good chance of execution by La Guillotine for any
reason at all. The aristocrats in particular had no chance at all, as is shown by this
quote, Let him be, he will be judged in Paris. The response being Judged, ay!, and
condemned as a traitor. (A Tale of Two Cities 259)
Dickens has no love for the mob either. While describing their wild dancing and
singing and murder in the streets, he does not speak as if he holds them in high
regard. In one case in particular, he seems to really despise their actions and speaks
out against them through the rational voice of the narrator, There were no fewer than
five hundred people, and they were dancing like five thousand demons. (A Tale of

The site was divided into several facilities carrying out various activities to develop
weapons and store and dispose of nuclear waste. Within the first two years MEDACE
had built a nuclear reactor, underground waste storage tanks and a nuclear fabrication
facility. All the facilities were in operation to develop plutonium fuels for military
defense (Gephart and Lundgren 1998).
The site was in operation for 44 years and was decommissioned in 1987 (Wald,
1998). During this period, approximately 110,000 tons of nuclear fuel were
processed at Hanford Site (Wald, 1998; Gephart and Lundgren 1998). It produced 73
tons of nuclear weapons and reactor fuel grade plutonium during the time of its
operations (Gephart and Lundgren 1998). The production of nuclear weapons and
nuclear fuels generated huge quantities of highly radioactive waste which was stored
in underground storage tanks.
Most liquids from single shell tanks have been pumped to the newer double shelled
tank over the years, to remove the remaining 9000 cubic meter of drainable liquid

double shell tank has leakages till date, even though the design life of oldest ones has

Gastrointestinal Physiology In Horse
Gastrointestinal Physiology
Horses are monogstric animals with a relatively small stomach. From the horse s
mouth to their large intestine, their gastrointestinal tract is similar to that of a human
s. However, past the cecum, a horse s gastrointestinal tract has more similarities to
that of a cow s (Bentz, 2014). Horses are classified as hindgut fermenters, meaning a
balance of good and bad bacteria aid in the digestion of foodstuff in the cecum and
large intestine (Costa et al., 2012). The hindgut is not only a fermentation vat, but it
also stimulates the immune response, protects against pathogens, production and
neutralization of toxins, and gene expression in the host s epithelial tissues
(Milinovich et al., 2010). The cecal microbiome ... Show more content on

Overtime, the term has evolved to describe a condition rather than clinical signs.
Colic includes all forms of gastrointestinal conditions that cause pain as well as
other conditions that do not involve the gastrointestinal tract. Colic is the major
cause of morbidity and mortality in horses. Similarly seen in laminitis, which is
known to increase the risk of colic, an identifiable change in the hindgut
microbiome has been noted. Observed in a colic study, mares had a positive
correlation with increased concentrations of Firmicutes, specifically
Lachnospiraceae and Rumminococcaceae, and Proteobacteria and the prevalence of
colic (Weese et al., 2015). In the same way with laminitis, the hindgut microbiome
can become acidic due to lactic acid bacteria, which can cause the more sensitive
fibrolytic bacteria to lysis and die (Weese et al., 2015). By purposefully overloading
a horse with starch, Streptococcus spp. and Clostridium spp, proliferate, producing
lactate and decreasing the hindgut pH, fiber digestion, and volatile fatty acid
production (Hussein et al., 2004; Milinovich et al., 2010). Changes to the microbiota
have been noted to occur within the first 24 36 hours, post induction (Briddle et al.,
2013). Even though colic is the number one killer in horses, little is known about the
factors and mechanisms of the condition. There has also been limited work conducted
in regards to studying the microbial structure and
Analysis Of 1493 By Charles C Mann
Charles C Mann, the author of 1493 provides an extensive analysis of the age of
exploration through a series of best selling books. He illustrated both pre columbian
and post Columbian era and established the significance of globalization across the
world through the books 1491 and 1493.The book was first published on 2011 as a
continuation of 1491 that recorded America before the arrival of Columbus.Charles C
Mann provided an astonishing interpretation of columbian exchange through
examining several aspects of global trade. He integrated social economical and
cultural components of globalization to inform readers on how it shaped the modern
world. The author s main purpose was to engage readers in critical thinking and
evaluate both advantages and disadvantages of globalization that united the
world.Globalization blended many cultures and tradition and increased the survival
of humankind. Moreover, the Columbian exchange ranked Europeamong the greatest
powers of the world; thus, Charles C Mann also discussed significant European
pressures that lead to the everlasting transformation of the world.
The book was written from the author s ceaseless desire for knowledge and
irresistible curiosity; he was astonished at the sight of tomatoes displayed in a garden
organized by college students. The variety of tomatoes encouraged the author to
explore its origin; most of the tomatoes were cultivated in America and transported to
Asian countries. As the author researched the original

The Mexican War as an Exercise in American Imperialism
The US government believed firmly in the doctrine of Manifest destiny, the
government argued that they had the right and duty to expand through North
American because it was necessary and inevitable. During the 19th century Mexico
dominated a large amount of North America which was inhabited by American
settlers and the American government aimed to expand the USA from the Atlantic
Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and were ready to achieve this by any means.
The American government saw the lands of Texas and Californiaas grand prizes with
the opportunity of lush agricultural prospect and the possibility of a gateway to the

Polk was granted a $10 million budget and to raise an army of 50 000 troops, he
had succeed in his plan and now wanted to secure California as soon as possible.
He ordered a quick war and successive victories against the Mexicans at the Port of
Matamoros, Buena Vista and Santa Fe in 1846 meant that by September 1847 within
a year that the war started the Mexican capital fell into American hands. The treaty of
Guadalupe Hidalgo was quickly drawn up and Mexico lost Texas and California for a
mere $15 million, which was seen as an extraordinary triumph for the Americans.
Historians have argued that the invasion of Mexico was unjustified and that
President Polk had no right to do what he did. It is said that the Euro Americans
took advantage of the young, independent and unstable government and forced
them engage in an unfair and aggressive war so that the Americans could take 1
million square miles of their country away from them. It is argued that Polk
provoked the war and that the annexation of Texas was an act of aggression to
force the Mexican government to give up Texas and California. The Mexican war
was seen by the Mexican people was a criminal offence and that America forced the
Mexican s into the war. Professor of history Rodolfo Acuna argued that America

By far the most widely used material in baby bottles, plastic is affordable,
lightweight and can be moulded into different designs and shapes. Plastic baby
bottles are so common that you can spot at least one in nine out of ten households
with infants. However, the use of these bottles declined with the spread of
awareness of BPA content present in them. You ll be glad to know that in 2012, FDA
banned the use of BPA in baby bottles and sippy cups. To make sure, you can also

Evolution By Natural Selection
Evolution is the change of traits of a species over several generations. A famous
biologist named Charles Darwin, theorized that evolution happens by natural
selection. Many people believe that evolution requires millions of years but scientists
believe that evolution can occur rather quickly. In Today s world, we have better
health care, food, shelter and hygiene. Some might question if our advanced medicine
and technology can lead to a stop in evolution, but in fact we are still evolving
according to some scientists (Neild). There has been much debate and controversy
over this statement but there is no concrete proof to say that humans are not evolving.
In fact, there is evidence that evolution is happening at this very moment. For

Over the past 30,000 years, human brains have decreased about ten percent which is
said to be equivalent to a tennis ball. Wilkens states, Based on skulls found in Europe,
Asia, and the Middle East, the human brain was about 1,500 cubic centimeters 30,000
years ago, and now it s down to about 1,359 cubic centimeters. It might seem like a
slow process but losing that much brain mass can surely affect humans one way or
another. Although some people might think that humans are getting dumber because
of the shrinking of the brain, some scientists strongly believe that is not the case.
There are several theories that explain why this phenomenon is happening. One
theory states that humans now tend to rely more on society and smaller brains help
us work together. It also states that smaller brains cause humans to be less
aggressive, giving us many social advantages (Hullinger). Another and more
interesting theory states that the reason behind the loss of the human brain mass is
because, Domestication leads to smaller brains. (Alban) Humans learned how to
cultivate, find food and shelter. People no longer need to learn survival skills like
our ancient ancestors once did which means that that location in our brain in no

their animals with food, shelter and love. They are no longer out in the wilderness

You must ve been surprised when I mentioned Walmart, one of the most notorious

Fifty years ago almost all clothes sold in the U.S. were made here. Now almost
98% of the clothes sold here are made in other countries. For big retailers like
Walmart, and Forever 21 they are able to sell clothes at low prices due to clothes
being produced in other nation where labor and other costs are less expensive, as
stated in The Real Cost of Fashion. How this works? Well, an example from The
Real Cost of Fashion. Says, For example, it costs $3.72 to manufacture a denim
shirt in Bangladesh. To make that same shirt in the U.S. costs $13.22. Lower costs
mean U.S. stores can sell clothes for less and still make a profit. For U.S. shoppers,
it means more clothes in their closets and more money in their wallets to buy other
things. But three years ago, a tragedy occurred in a building in Bangladesh. 1,127
workers died while about 2,500 workers were injured when the building collapsed.
This building contained five factories which made clothes to sell in the U.S. and
Europe. Officials then discovered the owner of the building illegally added more
floors and let the companies place heavy gear that the building wasn t sturdy enough

temporarily closed about 20 factories for safety violations. It also announced plans

an important role in our life. People can easily make new friends, communicate with
friends and strengthen their relationship on the social sites. Users can share their

Depression (ge1 3) Recent years, the potential effects of social network sites attract
many researchers to discuss the issues and try to get a scientific, correct and wide
accepted answer, but so far, the relationship between social networks and
depression has not been interpreted and invested fully. In 2013, Jelenchick and
Moreno did their research by using an online survey containing the Patient Health

didn t find evidence supporting a relationship between SNS use and clinical
depression in a sample of university students. (Jelenchick and Moreno 2013 10)
However, one year later, Pantic and his team found there was a statistically
significant positive correlation between depressive symptoms and time spent on
SNS in a high school student population. (Igor Pantic 2014 5) once in a while,

most popular social network sites. They discussed the relationship between Facebook

Depressants Research Paper
Depressants are drugs that inhibit the function of the central nervous system (CNS)
and are among the most widely used drugs in the world. These drugs operate by
affecting neurons in the CNS: central nervous system, which leads to symptoms such
as drowsiness, relaxation, decreased inhibition, sleep, coma, and even death. All
depressants also have the potential to be addictive. Central nervous system
depressants, sometimes referred to as tranquilizers or sedatives, are substances that
can slow brain activity. This property makes them useful for treating anxiety and
sleep disorders. For nearly a century, depressants have been used to reduce anxiety,
induce sleep and relieve stress in people. While alcohol is the most commonly used

However, if abused, these depressants can have many unwanted and harmful
effects. With prescribed depressants, the first few days a person usually feels
sleepy and uncoordinated, but as the body becomes accustomed to the effects of the
drug and tolerance develops, these side effects begin to disappear. Sometimes the
dosage isn t enough, and the user requires more of the drug or begins to use long
term, and larger doses may be needed to achieve the therapeutic effects. Continued
use can also lead to physical dependence and withdrawal when use is abruptly
reduced or stopped. Only under a physician s supervision is it safe to use depressants
with other drugs or medications. Normally, they should not be combined with any
other medication or substance that causes central nervous system depression,
including prescription pain medicines, some OTC cold and allergy medications, and
alcohol. Using central nervous system depressants with these other substances
(especially alcohol) can affect heart rhythm, slow respiration, and even lead to
Gender Pay Gap for Women Athletes Essay
Traditionally men have dominated the world of sports however in recent year s
women s sports have become popular and with their new found popularity, women s
sports have evolved into marketable leagues of their own. Although women s sports
took a huge leap forward, women players still don t receive the same financial
compensation for playing the same sports in the same arenas as their male
counterparts. In Purse Snatching by Donna Lopiano, she points out sexism may have

However, the issue that has been confronted is the barrier to being treated equally

considerably higher than women s victory purses. Top women tennis players

women players (Daniel Frankl 2). In soccer, the Women s World Cup soccer team

receive. The payout for women players was increased to $50,000 because fans
protested the unfair payout gap between the male and female players (Lopiano 1); it

The opinion is exactly confirmed by Ferri and Maber s research (2012). Ferri and
Maber based on a large sample evidence of UK firms over the period 2002 to 2005
on the effect of SOP, they point that the increase in sensitivity of CEO pay to
negative operating performance and no influence to stock performance. Otherwise,
this new rule is benefit to reduce the unreasonable pay for CEO and improve the
practice. In say on pay, if greater proportions of shareholders against owner managers
proposals, the result will create more value because managers have to make changes
in corporate governance to adjust shareholders request. Meanwhile, the performance
will be better under this pressure. This thought is similar with Cai and Walking
(2011), firms would benefit the most when experience obvious positive abnormal
interest and the market reacts positively with the most highly paid CEOs.
Besides, the second advantage is enhance the transparency, accountability and
governance. This new regulation require boards publish directors compensation
reports add to annual reporting, and disclose individual managers unreasonable
payment.Under the fraud and financial scandals increase frequence and severe cases,
the shareholders ask to improve the transparency of compensation and thereby make
more perfect rule of corporate governance. M. B.

Abstract/Summary
In this experiment the SI and English standard measurement systems were used to
learn how to convert one unit of measurement to another through the use of
measurement instrumentation. A centimeter ruler was used to measure both
inanimate objects such as a lab table, and a window as well as body measurements
on multiple people within the group. The measurements were used in finding the
perimeter, area and volume of each of the objects. This experiment taught how to
express scientific figures for data and results. As multiple measurements were taken
precision and accuracy became greater. This data was used to determine ratios and

Analysis Of The Novel One Nation By Dr. Ben Carson
I chose to read the novel One Nation by Dr. Ben Carson .It showcases Ben Carson s
life and achievements. It also showcases his political and social views about the
government. Dr. Benjamin Solomon Carson Sr. is a world renowned
neurosurgeon. He was born in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Yale and earned a
Bachelor s of Arts degree for Psychology (Benjamin Carson Biography par.17). He
acquired a M.D. from the University of Michigan for neuroscience. Also, he
completed his residency at John Hopkins Hospital, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was
employed at John Hopkins where he worked his way up to being the director of his
department. He is known for the separation of conjoined twins. This took 22 hours
and a team of over 70 people. Ben Carsonhas a wife and three sons. He met his wife
while he is attending Yale (Benjamin Carson Biography par.22). He has been
awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and Ford s Theatre Lincoln Medal. A
few of the books that he has written include Think Big, One Nation, America the
Beautiful, The Big Picture, and Take the Risk (Future President Ben Carson Wrote
6 Books. We Read Them So You Don t Have To. Par.1 5) I believe that this book is
informative especially since Dr. Ben Carson is running for President. I felt the book
was extremely well written. It is very positive, but it also includes a few negative
attributes.
Chapter two is titled Political Correctness. He starts it off with Proverbs 18:21.

The Solution to the United States Energy Crisis
When we flip a light switch, or plug our laptop or cell phone charger into the wall,
we expect that electricity will flow to illuminate the room or to power up the
device at the other end of the cord. But what if the power companies weren t able to
generate enough electricity to make these actions possible? As the United States
population increases and continues to undergo economic growth, this demand for
energy will only continue to grow. The International Energy Agency (IEA) believes
that the world s energy needs could be 50% higher in 2030 than they are today [1].
And while Americans only make up about 5% of the world s population, we
consume more than 20% of the world s energy supply [2].
The fossil fuels that are used to supply over half of our country s energy are in finite
supply and are increasing in price to astronomical heights. If we hope to continue
consuming energy on the scale that we currently do, we need to find a better way to
produce it. Fortunately, the best contender is an energy generation form that the
United States is already familiar with, albeit equally as uncomfortable with. Currently,
nuclear power makes up 19% of our country s power generation, and with
community and government support, the industry could spread its wings further to
help relieve the dependence we have on burning fossil fuels [3]. Many people have
misconceived many ideas about nuclear power, believing that it is expensive, unsafe
by its very nature, and a threat to a
Petrarch s Letter Petrarch
Journal Entry: Petrarch s Letter
In Petrarch s letter to his friend, written in 1362, he is reassuring him and responding
to accusations made against humanist learning. This letter shows that the humanist
view had yet to be accepted by much of society and especially had not been accepted
by the church. This would make sense because this letter was written in the early
stages of the Italian Renaissance and the modern view had yet to flourish. Petrarch
says that their studies may prove deadly to a weak mind but beneficial to an acute
one. The church must have been humanism s largest hindrance since Petrarch mainly
responds to their charges. He says that secular learning does not interfere with faith.
This adheres with what the first packet says ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It would make sense that the Father of Humanism would be from Florence, the
epicenter of the Italian Renaissance. Much of his work had a modern element
because he probed his own feelings in his writings. This would go with the
Renaissance theme of the rediscovery of human glory due to the fact that Petrarch
often looked within himself. Petrarch was also a devote Christian and believed that
they meshed well. Petrarch being a Christian humanist agrees with the first article and
with the belief of humanists of returning to the sources. I found it surprising how
centralized Petrarch s beliefs were in Christianity considering he was a humanist
during the Italian Renaissance. I wouldn t be surprised if he wrote during the
Northern European Renaissance because they were more faith oriented and were
known as Christina humanists. Petrarch criticizes his contemporaries and
dialecticians on being ignorant of antiquity. He condemns them for mocking ancient
philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, and Pythagoras whose works are later
glorified during the Renaissance. The fact that these philosophers were later admired
and emulated during the Renaissance shows how quickly humanist s beliefs caught
on due to society s need for culture after the dark Middle

The subscription business model is a business model where a customer must pay a
subscription price to have access to the product/service. The model was pioneered
by magazines and newspapers, but is now used by many businesses and websites.

The Role Of Serfs In Medieval Times
The medieval time period survived on a system that provided order and good
military, this system was called Feudalism. Serfs had a major role in the medieval
time period, they were the ones, along with the freemen, who did the hard work in
the manor, not only for themselves to survive on, but for the whole manor, the lord,
and the king. Feudalismwas a type of government, it was created not for fairness,
but for organization. Without serfs, the feudal system would deteriorate, therefore,
there needed to be a specific role for labor, or no drudgery would ever be done.
Feudalism brought many things to everyone in this time period, some people got
more freedom than others, some worked harder than others, everyone had a role, they
may be treated differently for the role, but they all matter.
Serfs played a major role in a medieval manor. Serfs did most of the work in this time
period. In the beginning of the 1100 s, serfs were used for farming and they were
able to farm more land, because there was an increase in improved farming tools
(Cels 8). 90% of the population of serfs, participated in farming, the other 10%
would produce goods or perform other types of labor (Hunt 18). If you were a serf,
you had many requirements and expectations. Serfs had to work ... Show more

The feudal system would simply not survive off of the work from the freemen,
there needed to be serfs, people to be bound to the land, to work for simple pay, to
provide for the manor. The feudal government, was a way of life, it kept order to a
medieval manor, but it also had an absence of fairness. Serfs were the lowest class
in the feudal system, they were bound to the land, and couldn t do anything about
it. The Middle Ages, was a time of order, people in classes, from king, to serfs, who
were bound to the land, where they were then forced to work, providing for the
manor, and those living in
Analysis Of The Poem Choices By Nikki Giovanna
Do you feel that your movement is limited due to your appearance? Nikki Giovanna,
author of the poem Choices, is an activist, writer, educator, and poet who originally
published this poem in 1972 in a collection of poetry titled My House. Furthermore,
Giovanna s inspiration towards creating this poem is the Black Arts Movement, Civil
Rights Movement, Equal Rights Amendment, and through her personal experiences
as an African Americanfemale. This poem cornerstones the dilemma of the African
American race.
The theme is based on the African American peoples experiences of limitation due to
the pigment of their skin. Giovanna uses literary devices such as repetition, allusion,
analogy, imagery, symbolism, and paradox. Giovanna informs... Show more content

Also, Giovanna speaks aggressively in the beginning of the stanza, but then falls
into an appreciative tone. However, African Americans should not appreciate the
way authorities creep around the rules to satisfy themselves while technically
following the law. For instance, a company must offer equal opportunity of
employment regardless of their race, religion, sex, disabilities, age, etc. Meanwhile,
authorities offer all races employment, but decide the positions by appearance.
Minority applicants are often discriminated against before they even get their foot
in the door. According to the CNN/Kaiser Family Foundation poll on race in
America, 27% of blacks said they felt they had been denied a job they were
qualified for compared to 20% of Hispanics and just 9% of whites. Authorities would
rather hire the African American to be the janitor than a Caucasian, and would hire a
Caucasian as the next chief executive officer over a qualified African American. In
the poem, Choices, the author Nikki Giovanna displays the life of an African
American with facing man made limitations. African Americans have always been
The, Capital One, And Bowsart
Hey guys, hope you re all enjoying your placements. They sound great! I
mentioned last week that the Network sent out a newsletter for artists to submit
their artwork for three desired, upcoming events: Bridgepoint, Capital One, and
Bowsart. We extended the deadline because we were not receiving enough
submissions. Bridgepoint is only open to members of the Network, but Capital
One is open to artists and other non members. Thus far, we have received much
more submissions for the Capital One event. Location is key. Capital One is set in
a corporate building and can generate more cliental. My task was to transfer each
artists submission from the website into a document for the board. An artist can
submit up to three images for each event. For example, only 8 pieces of artwork are
selected by a jury to be showcased at Bridgepoint and CapitalOne. I went through
each submission, uploaded each of their images, and inserted a description for the
artwork, which included, the artists name, title of the piece, size by inch, and the
medium. I then imported this information into an excel spreadsheet for our records to
note payment and membership information. I viewed a range of fascinating artwork
ranging from oil paintings, watercolour, acrylic on canvas, sculpted canvas,
photography etc. Later on, an artist came by to the office because she required
assistance submitting her artwork online. My LSS was happy to help take
photographs of her paintings. I edited the pictures
Spine Deprivation
Sleep is considered to be one of the most important processes that living organisms
do, but there is a lot that remains unknown about its true function in the brain. The
Wen Bio Gan Group conducted a study on the effects of sleep and dendritic spine
formation after motor learning. To study this a motor learning task is needed. The
researchers used a metal rod that mice can stand on, this rod is then able to rotate
forwards or backwards depending on the direction the mouse is walking. The first
experiment was to see if the rotorod training would cause growth of dendritic spines.
To do this a Two Photon Microscope was used to excite the Yellow Fluorescent
Protein labeled dendrites so they could see the branch, now that they could see the
dendrites... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The data showed that the NSD mice had a greater performance score than the SD
mice both times. But when both mice were tested again 5 days after training, the
difference in performance was even greater. Showing that sleep deprivation
hinders performance. This is in line what we have learned in class bout how lack
of sleep often results in decreased cognitive function. More specifically how those
who are chronically sleep deprived have decreased performance similar to those
who have not slept at all. The SD mice were chronically sleep deprived and thus
more prone to making mistakes. This is similar to the data that was present in
class on how the chances of medical errors increase when working re current 24
hour shifts. A problem that I have with this paper is with the imaging of the
dendritic branches. In none of the experiments was any imaging done post training
to see any immediate effects. This would also enable them to better see the effect
of sleep on the mice by isolating any changes that came bout during the initial
imaging. What also should have been done is imaging of the dendrites half way
through the allotted sleep time. This would allow the researchers to see how
immediate sleep effects spine growth to determine if a full a 8 hours are required
and how spine formation rates may change as sleep
William Randolph Hearst s Influence On The Film Citizen
Kane
The film Citizen Kane was voted the greatest American film twice by the American
Film Institute in 1998 and 2007. It broke new grounds in several areas such as
complex sound, deep focus and the narrative structure. This movie showed the
director is the plays the most important role not the producers, writers or financial
investors. William Randolph Hearstthe media baron was one of the individuals that
inspired the film. He was offended by the film and tried to destroy it by refusing to
publicize the film through his media outlets but his efforts failed. He provided the
model for the film, he was not the subject or the target but he was the screen. Citizen

that time were heavily influenced and censored by the government. The movies
made in that time were used to promote ideas and propaganda. This movie shows
how money corrupts. The main character started out as an average man who was

Gender Roles Seen in Toys Essay
Gender Roles and Toys
By Shawna Robb
English 101
Professor Solomon
One room has pretty pink wallpaper with a princess border; the other is blue with
monster trucks on one wall and sports pictures on another. It is not hard to tell which
room is female and which room is male. Male and female are used in this instance to
define genders. Gender, unlike sex, is a universal guideline upon which individuals
are placed. Gender refers to the socially constructed roles, behavior, and activities
that a particular society considers appropriate for men and women. When the
pressure of gender stereotypes is open to debate some say there are prenatal
influences that are gender based. What is obvious is that gender plays a significant ...

Bandura s Social Learning Theory says, human behavior is transmitted, whether
deliberately or inadvertently, largely through exposure to social models (Bandura
1). When a child thinks that a behavior will be punished versus rewarded but
instead is not even acknowledged they will perceive it as a reward. Children
usually continue rewarded behavior to receive more praise. Television is seen as a
super tutor to Bandura, the child will model what they see on television, not
knowing if it is good or bad. For those children whose parents are not good role
models, the television becomes the behavioral role model. If violence and
aggression is viewed on the television, it is more likely that children will engage in
violent and aggressive behavior. While television can model appropriate behavior,
there is a well documented tendency for violence and aggression. Advertisements are
difficult to avoid since they are interwoven in shows and they tend to emphasize
violent and aggressive behavior (Kilinger 13). In the study by Kilinger, Hamilton and
Cantrell they observed children s perceptions of aggressive content, stereotypic sex
role behavior, and appropriateness of television toy commercials (Kilinger, 11). The
results of the study support the notion that there is a gender bias in terms of
aggressive content and consequently aggression potential. The results did show
How Is Diction Used In Emily Dickinson s Poetry
One of three children Emily Elizabeth Dickinson was an American poet born in
Amherst, Massachusetts, 50 miles from Boston, born December 10, 1830.
Dickinson is known for her unusual social life and reserved lifestyle. Dickinson
went to Mount Holyoke Female Seminary in South Hadley But she only attended
for one year. Dickinson was a very rare but bright individual at a young age
Dickinson was not allowed to read different types of literature including Walt
Whitman which like Dickinson was a great poet but was discovered after his
lifetime. Her father Edward Dickinson did not allow any types of inappropriate
readings in his home. He was a father who believed in fairness, and personal restraint
to a point. When Dickinson was young she obeyed... Show more content on

Many people believed the Dickinson lived a lonely and sad life with no friend or
family, always isolated with no one to talk to. In this last paragraph I started early
took my dog will be the poem that I will be discussing. A 135 word poem with only 6
stanzas it was published in 1896. 10 years after Emily Dickinson died. In stanza 1
Dickinson provides a calm but yet, magical setting for this poem. The imagery
would make you think that you are walking on the ocean. She creates the magical
setting with the quote the mermaids in the basement that looked up at her.
Dickinson makes you think that you are being watched by a mermaid but we all
mermaids are in our imagination. Dickinson feels as if she is worthy of being
looked at by something that s not real. In stanza 2 Dickinson links magically with
real events because the frigates is a type of warship used in the U.S. Navy. The
explanation of a warship suggests that Dickinson is aware of the magical and
peaceful parts of her life, such as the sea and the mermaids, but she is also aware
of reality, such as war. While Dickinson openly sees the warship on the sea, she also
sees the mermaids at the bottom of the sea floor looking at her. Dickinson continues
to give the sea human like characterization. In stanza 3 Dickinson talks about her
personal life. Dickinson first describes the sea as a man; Dickinson makes it very
clear that No

In particular, small changes in inputs can result in large changes in the value of a
company, given the need to project cash flow to infinity. James Montier argues that,
while the algebra of DCF is simple, neat and compelling, the implementation becomes
a minefield of problems . He cites, in particular, problems with estimating cash flows
and estimating discount rates. Despite the issues, DCF analysis is very widely used
and is perhaps the primary valuation tool amongst the financial analyst community.
2.2. Terminal Value
Terminal Value, in simple term, is the value of a company with an infinite row of
constant future cash flows.
To arrive at a total company value, or enterprise value, we simply have to take the
present value of the cash flows and the Terminal value, divide them by the discount
rate and, finally, add up the results. If we are discounting free cash flow of the firm
at the weighted average cost of capital, this would give the value of the firm, so it
would be necessary to deduct net debt in order to arrive at the equity value. In this
report, simply use FCF in the year of 2011 to compare the value of the firm to the
stock price in the year end of 2011.
2.3. Weighted Average Cost of Capital
The Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) is the discount rate used in a
Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analysis to present value projected free cash flows and
terminal value.
Abolishing The Penny Research Paper
Jared Hopkins Ms. Best Advanced Language Arts 7 24 April 2017 Abolishing the
Penny: It s Time When s the last time you used a penny? Most people rarely use
them, but the US mint makes nearly 7.5 billions pennies each and every year, but
for what? Some say pennies have been around too long and you can t just get rid of
them, however when you take into account that the penny costs more than it s face
value then you might change your mind. It s time for pennies to go, on average all
the pennies we make cost the US almost $900 million per year. Now this cost isn t
even including the time, fuel, expenses, and the hassle of shipping all these pennies
to the banks, just for everybody to throw them in a penny jar. Research shows that...

If we just get rid of the penny, the mint would only have to do half the work! And
we re not even counting all the time, fuel, expense, and hassle of carting all those
pennies around to the banks, merchants, etc. If we stop making pennies in the first
place, we save all this associated time and trouble, too (Headley). If we just got rid
of the penny we wouldn t have to pay the price for making therm, and for getting
them everywhere, which could cost nearly as much as making all the pennies. On
the flip side, some might say that if we got rid of the penny then we would have to
round everything to the nickel, because of this we would have to make more
nickels, which are even less economically efficient then the penny. What these
people don t realize is that most goods, and services will round up to the nearest
dollar, so we won t have to make nearly as many nickels as we would pennies. In
conclusion the penny should be abolished because, we end up 1.924 billion dollars
more in debt. The penny isn t worth it and has to go, it costs more to make then it
is worth, so we are losing money, besides losing money we also lose time, the time
to make the pennies and, to ship them everywhere. Still people will be mad that they
are gone, but they won t be gone they ll still be around, we just won t be producing
them anymore. Finally when you weigh

  • 1. Essay On William Shakespeare Crafting an essay on William Shakespeare can be a challenging endeavor due to the vastness of his literary contributions, historical significance, and the multitude of perspectives surrounding his works. The difficulty lies in capturing the essence of Shakespeare's impact on literature and culture within the constraints of an essay. Firstly, delving into the life of Shakespeare requires meticulous research to provide a comprehensive overview. The scarcity of concrete biographical details about the Bard complicates the task, as scholars often rely on historical records and conjecture to piece together his life story. Moreover, analyzing Shakespeare's plays and sonnets demands a deep understanding of the nuances of Elizabethan language and literary devices. Deciphering the complexities of his works, such as the intricate plots, multifaceted characters, and layered themes, requires a keen literary sensibility. Attempting to encapsulate the cultural and historical context in which Shakespeare wrote adds another layer of difficulty. Exploring the socio-political dynamics of the Elizabethan era and the Renaissance period is essential to appreciate the backdrop against which Shakespeare's genius unfolded. Furthermore, the vast body of critical interpretations and scholarly debates surrounding Shakespearean works can be overwhelming. Navigating through the myriad of perspectives, from feminist and post-colonial readings to psychoanalytical analyses, demands a nuanced and well-researched approach. Concluding such an essay poses a challenge in summarizing the immense impact Shakespeare had on the literary world and beyond. Crafting a conclusion that does justice to his enduring legacy while leaving a lasting impression on the reader requires finesse and a thoughtful synthesis of the discussed aspects. In conclusion, writing an essay on William Shakespeare involves navigating through the complexities of his life, understanding the intricacies of his works, exploring historical and cultural contexts, and engaging with diverse critical perspectives. It demands a blend of research skills, literary analysis, and the ability to synthesize information cohesively. For those seeking assistance with such intricate tasks, various resources, including essay writing services like HelpWriting.net, offer the opportunity to explore similar essays and more, ensuring a well- crafted and insightful exploration of literary topics. • 2. Labor Unions And The United States Labor unions and movements play an important role in the United States. Although they are treated synonymously, the labor movements encompass a broader scope than labor unions. Some of the examples of current labor unions and movements include National Guestworker, Domestic Workers United and Wal Mart workers groups. The heart of the current labor initiatives in the United States can be traced back to the National Labor Relations Act of 1935 (Collier Collier, 2002). The labor law was imperative since it was intended to put the power of the government behind the worker s right to organize unions and bargain collectively with their employers on issues such as wages, hours and working conditions. In the last thirty years, labor unions have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The workers began to think of factories and industries as a threat to their wages and status. The workers soon created fledgling craft unions in an effort to resist undesirable working conditions. The craft unions sought to resist sudden wage reductions, increased working hours and unsafe working conditions. The unions also aimed to protect their political, social and economic rights. The unions moved from local to national movements as both labor and product markets became national as a result of improvements such as transportation (Collier Collier, 2002). Several factors inspired the early labor movement beyond the job interest of the craft members. It harbored the ideals of a just society based on the Ricardian labor theory of value and the republican conceptions of the American Revolution (Brody, 1993). Such ideals and revolutionary conceptions fostered social equality, honest labor and depended on an independent and virtuous citizenship. The industrial capitalism and the associated economic transformations contradicted the labor s vision. The solution as early labor leaders saw it was to categorize the society into the poor and the rich. The advocates of equal rights presented a series of reform beginning with the workingmen s parties. Some of the notable labor reforms created included the Knights of Labor and the National Labor Union (Brody, 1993). During the 1880s, the labor unions reinforced their relationship
  • 3. King And Douglass Similarities Have you ever heard of the speech I Have a Dream from the late Martin Luther King Jr.? You d be pretty sure many people have heard of it, but has anyone ever really read it and thought about it? This could be like The Hypocrisy of American Slavery, a piece of work produced by Frederick Douglass. They both argued that African Americans have a natural right to equality (Renfro 1). Douglass once said, The white man s happiness cannot be purchased by the black man s misery. Here is just another point of there not being enough equality for being an African Americanduring those times of struggle. The fact that King and Douglass had used their oral power to try and fight throughout their lives was a very substantial task. They are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They came to be very influential people for the people of their time and for many years up to now. King and Douglass also had their staple in time for being great Civil Rights activists. They played key parts in the fight to lead blacks from their lack of power and equality for themselves. Having the struggles to deal with within slavery and segregated times, blacks wanted to band together. King was vital in the making of acts during those times, such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 ( Martin Luther King Jr. 2). This act was what outlawed most of the discrimination for colored people. Douglass had his own contributions, but they were in some cases not as major as the things King put forward to gain equality for blacks. As time went on the two began earning their unparalleled oratory skills. With the power of just their voices and hands they were granted with so much more notoriety. Both of them have similar oratory styles. They both had the amazing ability to move their audience to action (Renfro 1). They were also publishers and produced many great pieces of work. Douglass published three versions of his autobiography during his lifetime, revising and expanding on his work each time. My Bondage and My Freedom appeared in 1855. In 1881, Douglass published Life and Times of Frederick Douglass, which he revised in 1892 ( Frederick
  • 4. Elizabeth I, Monarch Of England, And Marie De L ... Elizabeth I, monarch of England, and Marie de l Incarnation, a French nun, both invoked God and other forms of religious power to stake their claims to authority. Elizabeth s role as a queen came at a time when her country was going through political turmoil. Marie s role as a missionary in New France was to civilize the indigenous people. Although working to better their countries, both of these writers are vastly different due to their social positions. While Elizabeth had the substantial task of ruling over her country, Marie was serving her country as a missionary; however, both writers utilize religionto accomplish their various duties. Marie utilized her understanding of religion and the Native s understanding of religion to build a relationship built on trust. She arrived in modern day Quebec in the late 1630 s as a missionary from her country to educate and civilize the Natives there to match European traditions. Marie found similarities with the indigenous people as even though they didn t have a God, they had their own forms of worship. In Letter 65 to her son, she answers his questions regarding the Savages beliefs on divinity. Certain ones adored the sun and offered its sacrifices. Others had recourse to certain spirits who they said provided over the woods but all obeyed their dreams as a divinity (Marie, 368). Even though the Natives did not have any exposure to the True God before they met the Europeans, they still believed in some sort of higher
  • 5. Shawshank Redemption Andy What would you crawl through to be set free? Shawshank redemption is a spectacular movie full of excitement and it has many dramatic scenes which have a very large impact on the audience. The film the Shawshank redemption directed by frank Darabont is truly amazing as it will make you think about geniuses that made the story. It will definitely leave you wanting to see it again and again. In my opinion I really enjoyed this film because of the way Andy has entered Shawshank prison, Andy is brave and an intelligent man who helps others to do the same. However, Shawshank redemption played by astonishing actors and assisted by effective lighting, camera shots and costume to emphasise the importance throughout the film. Throughout this movie... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As when we saw Andy we already knew that he was different from the other prisoners, as he was dressed differently from the rest of them. He was wearing a suit and this represented that he had power, but now he s looking a bit scruffy and you can see his power slipping away until it s completely taken away and then he s dressed like them all, unimportant and powerless. An example of this is when Andy first arrived to Shawshank prison, he was wearing a suit compared to the others they were untidy and dirty. The first thing that pops into Reds head, he knew Andy was a brainy, intelligence young man with less friends. This shows how Andy is hopeful and patient, Andy won t give up on his dream of living the free life he s entitled to, no matter how impossible it seems. Another example is when Andy enters Shawshank prison and meets the warden, and the other police men s. Andy is now wearing the prison clothes like the other prisoners; this shows how Andy is no longer strong and powerful. He is now stuck in a cell with no friends and is powerless. Andy was different from most prisoners; he was quieter but he never lost his mind like many new prisoners. He kept to himself, but many prisoners didn t like that because they thought Andy thought he was better than all of them. Mentally Andy Deferens was kind of in a weird place. He was sitting in prison, but his mind was on
  • 6. How To Farm A Better Fish Analysis How to Farm a Better Fish by Joel K. Bourne, Jr. was published in National Geographic s June, 2014 edition magazine. This particular article characterizes the differences between the various types of aquaculture, as well as what species to feed and the ingredients that make up the food given. The reporter who composed this editorial informed the reader of the advantages and downfalls of an indoor fishtank vs. an outdoor fish pen. The reporter pointed out the numerous ways an aquacultural company may feed their harvest of fish. He even explained that some fish farms have a whole ecosystem of aquatic animals and plants that they feed instead, to supply the whole food chain with enough nutrients. This is a rather important article because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The writer introduced us to Bill Martin, the president of Blue Ridge Aquaculture, located in Virginia. His company owns the largest indoor aquacultural farm in the world. Martin has over twelve thousand pounds of tilapia, a common freshwater fish largely enjoyed in America by seafood lovers everywhere. Using this indoor fish farming company as an example, the writer describes how Martin keeps the water the fish live in clean and healthy. Blue Ridge Aquaculture has a massive water treatment system that pumps half a million gallons of water from their own, personal underground aquifer. Powered by a large supply of coal, eighty five percent of the water fish swim in is rotated throughout the treatment system, while the rest is sent to a local sewage plant, soon after proceeding to the nearest landfill. When interviewed, Bill Martin states that his fish are happy living in his company s indoor fish tank. One may interpret a fish s feelings by how healthy it is. A dead fish is clearly unhappy, while a live one is. Martin tops it all off by saying he hasn t had a single tank of tilapia completely die out yet. By looking at Martin s dialogue, anyone can see that he is proud of his company, and believes it to be the best aquacultural farm ever. Take in mind that indoor fish tanks have no waste impact on the oceans since it is a one hundred percent controlled faculty. However, in order to obtain a large enough area to create an indoor tank used for holding a very substantial amount of fish, the company has to mow down the natural landmarks and terrain around that place. For example, thousands tropical mangroves were bulldozed over to support the aquacultural evolution in the 1980 s, resulting in colossal habitat destruction. It is equally important to know that just because the fish aren t dying in their tanks doesn t mean they live in the best environment. Indoor

  • 9. Analysis Of Frank Zappa, John Cage, And Pamela Z Throughout this course, the composers we studied all had different approached to creating music, and that is why many of them are well known today. The three most notable composers who combine unusual elements in their music were Frank Zappa, John Cage, and Pamela Z. Frank Zappa was an American artist who had no desire to fit into a single style of music, and he had no interest in creating music for cultural conventions. He created music in the manners he saw fit. His music has influence from rock, pop, modern classical, and jazz music, but his pieces are far from fitting into one of those labels. The most notable album Frank Zappa created that was Jazz From Hell. This album was highly unique because all the pieces on this album were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The quartet uses unspecified items that could range from magazines, newspapers, tables, wooden furniture, large books, the floor, the wall or a door. Within in this piece there are four movements. This piece is an excellent example of John Cage s interest in non traditional instruments and timbre. John Cage was willing to push many boundaries in his pieces. Although some individuals may not agree with John Cage s approach to music, I believe his pieces are a great example of using unusual elements to create a music that is characteristic to Cage. Pamela Z is a composer who performs her compositions with her highly developed voice and computer software. Pamela Z, although trained in classical performance, wanted to find a way to perform contemporary music. In order to perform contemporary music, Pamela Z bought a delay unit and began creating loops using her voice. Z was able to think about her voice in the areas of texture and rhythm, the influence of outside texts, and how she could vary her vocal technique. One of Pamela Z s most notable pieces that integrates the unusual elements of looping and layer is Gaijin. Gaijin is the Japanese word for foreigner and this
  • 10. Essay on Critique Of death Of The Author Critique of quot;Death of the Author quot; The title to the story quot; The Death of an Author, quot; by Roland Barthes, suggests this story may be a fictional novel about the story of an author s death. Perhaps one might pick it up, and skim the foreword in hopes that beneath the cover of this book there would be a mystery, a story of detectives, eye witnesses, clues, and a puzzle for the reader to solve. Before I read this story, the title quot; The Death of an Author quot; brought to my imagination the biography of a writer slowly drinking himself to death trying to finish the story of his life, but the author would be stuck and depressed because his life is not a story as it is boring and repetitive. ... What caused him to have so much distrust toward the critics? Those are the thoughts he was trying to persuade us not to think. Barthes wanted the author of the story to be no more than a name printed on the top or front of a book. Throughout the story quot; The Death of an Author, quot; Barthes refers to the author as a scriptor in stating quot;Succeeding the Author, the scriptor no longer bears within him passions, humors, feelings, impressions but rather this immense dictionary from which he draws a writing that can know no halt. quot; Barthes announces that a scriptor is superior to an author but they are the same. Now if a scriptor is superior to an author this passage drags on and on, never circulating around a single point. A scriptor does not try to make art of the two hundred and fifty five symbols placed in front of him. A scriptor arranges the symbols in an order that once decoded can be read back and can convey whatever message the scriptor recorded. Barthes reveals his knowledge of this in writing, quot;Once the author is removed, the claim to decipher a text becomes quite futile. To give a text an Author is to impose a limit on that text, to furnish it with a final signified, to close the writing. quot; I

Mortgage Brokers Buying a house can be complicated enough, but trying to sort out which mortgage is best, what the different rates are, etc, can be like trying to pick your way through a minefield. That s why using a mortgage broker is such a good idea, and one that more and more homebuyers are starting to do. Whereas previous generations of home buyers were content to simply arrange the mortgage through their banks, today s buyers are different. With the Internet offering new ways for people to look for deals on everything from home insurance to car loans, mortgage lenders are no longer the ones in control. However, using a mortgage broker is still more advisable than looking for offers by yourself. Why a Mortgage Broker? A mortgage broker is a certified professional and someone who has spent years training to become an expert in mortgages. Regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), they have a strict set of guidelines that they must adhere to. This includes the information they give you, and the ethical decisions they make regarding any financial advice they provide to you. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Compare this to banks and building societies, which usually try and arrange your mortgage solely with them, and the extra cost in using a broker are more than worth it. What does a Mortgage Broker do? Because they are such experts in their field, a mortgage broker can offer a host of services that you may not have received otherwise. As well as their advice, you can also expect a broker to: * Find the mortgage that s right for you * Access to thousands of different lenders nationwide * Provide a mortgage calculator that will help you decide how much you can

As Obama begins his presidency, it is a tradition to write an appealing speech that is professional for his audience. Obama writes this speech to let people know that we will not take for granted the acts people did for us to live together equally. During President Obama s inaugural speech, he remarked, On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas that for too long have strangled our politicians . His use of strangled our politics is an example of using Argument is War metaphor which on a basic level asserts that there is a win or a loss, in case he refers to the past administration s politicians fighting against each other s political party as the winner, and the resulting strangled politics or influential political system being the loser. Obama s speech was hopeful towards his audience by his wordchoice being professional, shows emotional appeal, and demonstrates ethos logos, and pathos throughout his inaugural speech. Well, in The Scarlet Ibis , the main character William Armstrong shares many similarities with the beautiful red bird that is found limp in a tree outside of the family s house. Early in the book, we find out that the main character, known as Doodle, had many complications at birth, which lead to the severe health problems he now has to face throughout his childhood. These problems were the reasons why Doodle was not normal like the kids around him. Walking, swimming, running, and playing outside were all things that Doodle had trouble partaking in. We are introduced to the Scarlet Ibisin the middle of the book in a depressing, yet beautiful way. When we meet the bird, it is lying in a tree, weak and frail. Quickly, we find a similarity that the two characters share. Doodle and the Ibis both have something pushing them until they die. For instance, Doodles brother was non stop pushing him to be better and better each day. He collapsed onto the grass like a half empty flour sack. It was as if he had no bones in his little legs. Don t hurt me, Brother, he warned (Hurst 467). As you can see, Doodle is forced daily to try to stand on his own, in the field near their house, which is not healthy for him. Knowing that Doodle has internal problems, you would have thought that his brother would not have pushed him so hard. Why would his brother be pushing him when he has so many problems, you may ask.

The control environment sets the tone of an organization, influencing the control consciousness of its people. It is the foundation for all other components of internal control, providing discipline and structure. The Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) published the Internal Control Integrated Framework in 1992. As summarized above one can see the importance of the implementation of an effective control environment, as it sets the foundation for the other 4 components of internal control. The control environment is made up fundamental smaller components. The ones that were particularly relevant to BMIS are the use of board of directors and audit committee, management philosophy and operating style, and human resource policies and practices. If management doesn t prioritize control, then the rest of the organization will not put precedence on following policies and procedures either. This was clearly evident at Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC (BMIS), and ultimately led to their downfall. BMIS did not maintain an effective control environment and as a result it was exposed to many material weaknesses. Specifically it can be determined that management did not have adequate controls in place to establish and communicate the importance of control needs from top down. This is largely due to the fact that the management s

This building contained five factories which made clothes to sell in the U.S. and Europe. Officials then discovered the owner of the building illegally added more floors and let the companies place heavy gear that the building wasn t sturdy enough to support. According to The Real Cost of Fashion, Bangladesh s government temporarily closed about 20 factories for safety violations. It also announced plans to raise the country s minimum wage. Bangladesh has some of the lowest paid workers in the world. They get paid less than $2 day. It

In 2013, Jelenchick and Moreno did their research by using an online survey containing the Patient Health Questionnaire 9 depression screen (PHQ). Finally, they got a different result: they didn t find evidence supporting a relationship between SNS use and clinical depression in a sample of university students. (Jelenchick and Moreno 2013 10) However, one year later, Pantic and his team found there was a statistically significant positive correlation between depressive symptoms and time spent on SNS in a high school student population. They discussed the relationship between Facebook and depression among college students. • 33. Depressants Research Paper Depressants are drugs that inhibit the function of the central nervous system (CNS) and are among the most widely used drugs in the world. These drugs operate by affecting neurons in the CNS: central nervous system, which leads to symptoms such as drowsiness, relaxation, decreased inhibition, sleep, coma, and even death. All depressants also have the potential to be addictive. Central nervous system depressants, sometimes referred to as tranquilizers or sedatives, are substances that can slow brain activity. This property makes them useful for treating anxiety and sleep disorders. For nearly a century, depressants have been used to reduce anxiety, induce sleep and relieve stress in people. With prescribed depressants, the first few days a person usually feels sleepy and uncoordinated, but as the body becomes accustomed to the effects of the drug and tolerance develops, these side effects begin to disappear. Sometimes the dosage isn t enough, and the user requires more of the drug or begins to use long term, and larger doses may be needed to achieve the therapeutic effects. Continued use can also lead to physical dependence and withdrawal when use is abruptly reduced or stopped. Only under a physician s supervision is it safe to use depressants with other drugs or medications. Normally, they should not be combined with any other medication or substance that causes central nervous system depression, including prescription pain medicines, some OTC cold and allergy medications, and alcohol. Using central nervous system depressants with these other substances (especially alcohol) can affect heart rhythm, slow respiration, and even lead to

The Solution to the United States Energy Crisis When we flip a light switch, or plug our laptop or cell phone charger into the wall, we expect that electricity will flow to illuminate the room or to power up the device at the other end of the cord. But what if the power companies weren t able to generate enough electricity to make these actions possible? As the United States population increases and continues to undergo economic growth, this demand for energy will only continue to grow. The International Energy Agency (IEA) believes that the world s energy needs could be 50% higher in 2030 than they are today [1]. And while Americans only make up about 5% of the world s population, we consume more than 20% of the world s energy supply [2]. The fossil fuels that are used to supply over half of our country s energy are in finite supply and are increasing in price to astronomical heights. If we hope to continue consuming energy on the scale that we currently do, we need to find a better way to produce it. Fortunately, the best contender is an energy generation form that the United States is already familiar with, albeit equally as uncomfortable with. Currently, nuclear power makes up 19% of our country s power generation, and with community and government support, the industry could spread its wings further to help relieve the dependence we have on burning fossil fuels [3]. Many people have misconceived many ideas about nuclear power, believing that it is expensive, unsafe by its very nature, and a threat to a

Petrarch s Letter Petrarch Journal Entry: Petrarch s Letter In Petrarch s letter to his friend, written in 1362, he is reassuring him and responding to accusations made against humanist learning. This letter shows that the humanist view had yet to be accepted by much of society and especially had not been accepted by the church. This would make sense because this letter was written in the early stages of the Italian Renaissance and the modern view had yet to flourish. It would make sense that the Father of Humanism would be from Florence, the epicenter of the Italian Renaissance. Much of his work had a modern element because he probed his own feelings in his writings. This would go with the Renaissance theme of the rediscovery of human glory due to the fact that Petrarch often looked within himself. Petrarch was also a devote Christian and believed that they meshed well. Petrarch being a Christian humanist agrees with the first article and with the belief of humanists of returning to the sources. I found it surprising how centralized Petrarch s beliefs were in Christianity considering he was a humanist during the Italian Renaissance. I wouldn t be surprised if he wrote during the Northern European Renaissance because they were more faith oriented and were known as Christina humanists. Petrarch criticizes his contemporaries and dialecticians on being ignorant of antiquity. He condemns them for mocking ancient philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, and Pythagoras whose works are later glorified during the Renaissance. The fact that these philosophers were later admired and emulated during the Renaissance shows how quickly humanist s beliefs caught on due to society s need for culture after the dark Middle

The Wen Bio Gan Group conducted a study on the effects of sleep and dendritic spine formation after motor learning. To study this a motor learning task is needed. The researchers used a metal rod that mice can stand on, this rod is then able to rotate forwards or backwards depending on the direction the mouse is walking. But when both mice were tested again 5 days after training, the difference in performance was even greater. Showing that sleep deprivation hinders performance. This is in line what we have learned in class bout how lack of sleep often results in decreased cognitive function. More specifically how those who are chronically sleep deprived have decreased performance similar to those who have not slept at all. The SD mice were chronically sleep deprived and thus more prone to making mistakes. This is similar to the data that was present in class on how the chances of medical errors increase when working re current 24 hour shifts. A problem that I have with this paper is with the imaging of the dendritic branches. In none of the experiments was any imaging done post training to see any immediate effects. This would also enable them to better see the effect of sleep on the mice by isolating any changes that came bout during the initial imaging. What also should have been done is imaging of the dendrites half way through the allotted sleep time. This would allow the researchers to see how immediate sleep effects spine growth to determine if a full a 8 hours are required and how spine formation rates may change as sleep

James Montier argues that, while the algebra of DCF is simple, neat and compelling, the implementation becomes a minefield of problems . He cites, in particular, problems with estimating cash flows and estimating discount rates. Despite the issues, DCF analysis is very widely used and is perhaps the primary valuation tool amongst the financial analyst community. 2.2. Terminal Value Terminal Value, in simple term, is the value of a company with an infinite row of constant future cash flows. To arrive at a total company value, or enterprise value, we simply have to take the present value of the cash flows and the Terminal value, divide them by the discount rate and, finally, add up the results. If we are discounting free cash flow of the firm at the weighted average cost of capital, this would give the value of the firm, so it would be necessary to deduct net debt in order to arrive at the equity value. In this report, simply use FCF in the year of 2011 to compare the value of the firm to the stock price in the year end of 2011. 2.3. Weighted Average Cost of Capital The Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) is the discount rate used in a Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analysis to present value projected free cash flows and terminal value.
  • 52. Abolishing The Penny Research Paper Jared Hopkins Ms. Best Advanced Language Arts 7 24 April 2017 Abolishing the Penny: It s Time When s the last time you used a penny? Most people rarely use them, but the US mint makes nearly 7.5 billions pennies each and every year, but for what? Some say pennies have been around too long and you can t just get rid of them, however when you take into account that the penny costs more than it s face value then you might change your mind. It s time for pennies to go, on average all the pennies we make cost the US almost $900 million per year. Now this cost isn t even including the time, fuel, expenses, and the hassle of shipping all these pennies to the banks, just for everybody to throw them in a penny jar. Research shows that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If we just get rid of the penny, the mint would only have to do half the work! And we re not even counting all the time, fuel, expense, and hassle of carting all those pennies around to the banks, merchants, etc. If we stop making pennies in the first place, we save all this associated time and trouble, too (Headley). If we just got rid of the penny we wouldn t have to pay the price for making therm, and for getting them everywhere, which could cost nearly as much as making all the pennies. On the flip side, some might say that if we got rid of the penny then we would have to round everything to the nickel, because of this we would have to make more nickels, which are even less economically efficient then the penny. What these people don t realize is that most goods, and services will round up to the nearest dollar, so we won t have to make nearly as many nickels as we would pennies. In conclusion the penny should be abolished because, we end up 1.924 billion dollars more in debt. The penny isn t worth it and has to go, it costs more to make then it is worth, so we are losing money, besides losing money we also lose time, the time to make the pennies and, to ship them everywhere. Still people will be mad that they are gone, but they won t be gone they ll still be around, we just won t be producing them anymore. Finally when you weigh
