I have recently finished reading *Outliers* by Malcom Gladwell and I personally
consider the book to be a piece of idiosyncratic brilliance. As I read chapter after
chapter I have put some thought into the idea of intelligence and what it is that
makes some more successful than others. Though I will have to say that success is
subjective, not only measured by the amount of dollars in a bank account, the
number of assets, or degrees, yet these are measures generally use as indicators of
success given the correlation among them. Gladwell s explanation of what makes an
individual an outlier is sensible to those of us who inquire a comprehensive
explanation of the aforementioned topic of discussion.
*Outliers* begins by discussing the importance of IQ and the concept of
accumulated advantage. What has been found is that IQ is not necessarily a
predictor of success, but surely one must posses a high enough IQ to be successful,
and no this is not a contradiction. This might sound like a paradox but let us dissect
and get to the facts. Studies have shown that IQ is a good predictor of analytical
intelligence and that this kind of intelligence is in part genetic (must experts agree

expect since both come from opposite spectrums of Islam; but, after careful analysis,

The concept of the script has merit and it s a relevant topic. It addresses a social
need to help other gay Muslims, who might find one s self in the same moral

Benito Cereno is a short story written by Herman Melville in 1855. This story is
about a black crew s desire for freedom. It was published around the same time the
United States was reading itself for The Civil War. This short story is just one of
several stories by Melville that contributed to the debate of slaveryduring his time.
The San Dominick is the Spanish ship aboard which most the story s events take
place. By the time Captain Delano, portrayed as a dumbfounded racist, discovers
it, the slaves had become the masters of the vessel. Babo, who is staged as the
villain of this work by Melville, leads the slaves, continuing to deceive Delano,
who is led to believe that there has been no mutiny on the ship. Also, Babo has the
captain of the ship, Cereno under his command, who is forced to act as if
everything is stable on the ship. The events that occur on the San Dominick paints
a picture in the reader s mind about the barbarism of slavery, which leads to other
barbaric acts such as, murder and torture. This form of slavery was one of the
characteristics of a plantation in the civil war days. The San Dominick, in Benito
cereno, is shown to be a type of plantation in two different ways.
Firstly, Captain Delano s view of the slavery is parallel to that of a White southerner
on a plantation. In addition, the role Babo plays throughout his time aboard the San
Dominick also communicates to a plantation. In the story, Babo uses Cereno, the
