seeming void I saw a repository of layered meanings which I attempted to interpret by examining
the artistic cross cultural influences in Florence in the late nineteenth century. And to address the
question of why the Mediaeval Hispano Moresque gold lustreware and the design motifs of the

Midterm Assignment Photo Essay Waterdown is a small community which has been a part of the
greater community of Hamilton, Ontario since the year 2001. The village of Waterdown is home
to approximately 19,500 people and its population is continuously growing. Waterdown can be
described as an up and coming area. In the last few years the town has seen numerous residential
and commercial areas pop up in what seems like a matter of days; the community is rapidly
changing. As an individual who has lived in Waterdown my whole life, all this change can be a bit
overwhelming because I have grown attached to my hometown and specifically, my neighbourhood.
I would describe my neighbourhood as the hidden gem of Waterdown. It is not uncommon ... Show
I included this photo because growing up in this home is the reason why I have such a positive
sense of place in regards to my neighbourhood. Fouberg et al (2015), suggests that we need look
beyond physical characteristics and consider how particular places makes us feel and the
meanings we hold for those places. To this day, all of my major life events have occurred in
Waterdown, many in this home. I am comfortable in and around this house; everything is familiar
and I know what to expect. I found myself becoming homesick during my first year at university
because I was not emotionally attached to my dorm room in residence like I am to my bedroom
back home. It is not about the physical aspects of my house but the sense of security it, along with
the neighbourhood it is located in has provided for me.

the normal activity of my street. My street is quiet, there is rarely any traffic and few travel
down it by foot due to lack of sidewalks and streetlights. In my opinion, the lack of activity is the

Postmodern Congruity In Bottle Rocket
The image above illustrates how the director subtly responds to his own work. It is an example of
postmodern irony and the new sincerity because it serves as a subversive function, as Moonrise
Kingdom (2012) makes a critique about the characters in Bottle Rocket (1996). It happens at the
beginning of the filmand it immediately establishes the type of roles the adults and the children
play. The congruity between the two films is the collection of bottle rockets on the desk. The
incongruity comments on the maturity of adults and children. Dignan (in Bottle Rocket(1996)) is a
reckless individual and lights a rocket when it suits his mood, for example, out of the window of a
moving car. These children (above) are responsible because they are capable of making the rockets,
and they are making them in a safe environment. Norton s character, the scout master, purposefully
directs his cigarette towards the camera, to not set them alight. The postmodern term of
postmodern irony suggests a consciousness (explained in chapter one) and the narrative is
designed to consciously know that is it a film. By commenting on a previous film, the director is
able to reply with the new sincerity about the condition of his characters and it heightens the fact
that the audience is watching a film. The subversive function occurs when the illusion of reality is
broken, as the filmic devices are made evident.
A subversive method is adopted in film to go against an established system. In

Furthermore, as I read the assigned articles and viewed videos, I realized that my teachers
obviously, followed Piaget s, Vygotsky. Dewey, and Bruner constructivist view because they used
the theory of assimilation and accommodation, e.g., the learning of a new experience and changing
of a person s worldview. I also discovered after deep reflection on this week s assignment, how much
of an impact my teachers had on my teaching style. Before retiring, I taught based on what my
students needed. Therefore, much of my teaching mixed the theories of, Constructivism, Social
Constructivism and Cognitive Behavioral depending on the student. In fact, I realized, as I
continued to read, my teachers did a lot of modeling and demonstrations on completing a task. In
addition, they had the ability to adjust learning to their students learning need and style, even
though learning styles were not part of the system yet (Hamond et al., n.d.). Therefore, much of my
teaching mimics how I learned from those teachers. I believe in guiding my students toward
discovery on their own; therefore, my lessons were thought out, so they encompassed each student
s learning style. I taught 6th grade social studies, not an exhilarating course to garner excitement.
However, the use of modeling, multiple intelligences, scaffolding, and differentiated learning I feel

The epilogue helps me to kind of understand where John and Robby are coming from but still
does not justify their actions. How rediculous would it life be if every time a close friend or family
member died someone would go on a crime spree. But metaphorically speaking it gives us a

wet or dry? Can humans live on Mars, and if so how? For decades scientists have been studying
Mars, they have been using rovers and from there they collected data, samples, and took pictures.

of the data the scientists have gathered we know that Mars atmosphere is a lot different than our,
yet still has similarities.
Even though Earth and Mars are in the same solar system and orbit the same sun, Mars
atmosphere and the planet itself is a lot different from Earth. Mars is 142 million miles away
from the sun, with a year being 687 days long. It is about half of Earth s size, and is one tenth of
Earth s mass. Mars atmosphere is carbon based, containing 95.3% carbon dioxide, and also it

This article studies a novel approach to improve membrane separation eciency { application of
external physical in uence (temperature dierence across the membrane). Oppositely directed
pressure and temperature gradients in membrane establish a molecular exchange ow when two
components of the binary gas mixture ow in the opposite directions through the membrane. The
model of gas separator based on this eect is studied numerically at dierent scales. At microscale (in
membrane channels) solution of the linearized Boltz mann equation is used. At macroscale
(external part of the device) the system of Navier Stokes equations for two component gas mixture
is solved using nite volume method adopted for low Mach number limit. Dependence of device
eciency on all of the dening parameters is studied and comparison with previous numerical
