A four way autometic traffic control system with variable delay using hdleSAT Journals
Abstract Traffic congestion is a severe problem in this new era of growing vehicle population in all the developing countries. This is a bold signal to the modern age technology for a major improvement and innovation in the existing traffic control system. The most widely used traffic control system uses a simple time-based system and it works on a time interval basis. It is an automatic system but for modern age random and non-uniform traffic, it is inefficient. The advance automatic systems use the image processing technology or advance communication system to communicate and route. It might be used in the developing countries but it is very much complex and expensive too. The practical implementation of this advance traffic control system is also arduous in countries like India. In this paper, a low cost, real-time, system-on-chip (SoC), application specific automatic traffic control system has been proposed and implemented for four way traffic and the delay between two states can be changed manually, depending upon the density of the traffic. It is being implemented using Hardware Description Language (HDL) on a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) chip without using any other hardware resources or high level languages. The physical attribute of an FPGA chip, being compact in size and low in power consumption, makes it an ideal platform for the implementation. The complete architecture of the proposed traffic control system has been designed using Finite State Machine (FSM) based approach and it contains three different modules. The modules are System Initialization Module (SIM), Signal Generation Module (SGM) and Delay Control Module (DCM). The architecture is completely synthesized for Spartan 3E xc3s500e-4-fg320 FPGA with only 1% of the total logic utilization. Result obtains from a practical set-up of a four-way traffic system, where the signals are controlled by the proposed controller and the toy cars and the density of the traffic has been controlled manually. Key Words: Traffic controller, Four-way traffic system, FPGA, HDL, and FSM.

Electronic Toll Collection System based on Radio Frequency Identification Sys...IJECEIAES
This papaer entitled electronic toll collection system based on Radio Frequncy Identification System explained in detail based on current issue at toll collection system. There are some obstacles faced every day where the users spent their valuable time in queue at tollgate due to traffic congestion as well as using traditional manual method in most existing toll ETC system to collect toll from road users. Besides that, the barrier design where each vehicle stop waiting until barrier lift which consider source of time delay. To tackle stated problems, an electronic toll collection system is proposed which based on RFID technology. The integrated system consists of two main sections, electronic sides where all input data received from while database management office is where all necessary information stored. To compare the current ETC system, in this research elaborated internet of things where all data transmit through cloud and then to the main office in real time. Not only that, there is some enhancement based on barrier design where, gate is remained open for all vehicles with sufficient tags without requiring to stop to eliminate time delay.By check system throughput compare to existing toll systems, various tests have been carried out in different method where proposed system throughput much higher percentage the current system.
This paper presents a novel approach for the computerization of driving license test system. In existing automated track has been implemented which includes in a driving test a candidate applying for license have to drive over all closed loop path in front of the authorities. He / She should be able to drive over the path without any support by resting his / her foot on the vehicle or land surface. If the candidate fails to do, he / she will be disqualified. The authorities will be watching the candidate manually. In proposed system, No authorities are needed for checking the candidates .Various sensors has been utilized for watching the candidate fails to their foot in the vehicle by differential output from the sensor can be monitored .The sensors installed are Load Sensor for checking the rest of foot on the vehicle or land surface .Smoke Sensor for checking the amount of smoke released while the accelerator raised. Grip Sensor for maintaining the gear speed. Gyroscope (Accelerometer Sensor) for checking whether the candidate drives the vehicle in correct direction or not. So, Bribes could not be encouraged for issuing the license and no illegal action will be involved. We can get RTO license easily without any problem. R. Preethi | P. Rajeshwari | R. Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
