Man of Steel, produced by Warner Bros. at a budget of $225 million, grossed $667.9 million globally. One Night in Istanbul, produced independently at a much lower $6 million budget, is currently still in theaters in the UK and Ireland only. While high budget blockbusters like Man of Steel require massive returns to become profitable, lower budget films have a smaller target audience but also do not need to make as much to break even.
2. Man of Steel VS One night in Istanbul
Man of Steel is distributed by Warner Bros and that it is produced and co produced by Legendary
Pictures and Syncopy Films.
One night in Istanbul is produced/written by Nicky Allt and Big Ears Entertainment, Karma Film Prod,
Stray Dog Films.
Man of steel: It cost $225,000,000 to make. They made a Gross profit of $667,999,518.
One night in Istanbul: It cost $6,000,000 to make. This is currently still in the cinema.
3. High Budget films: Man of Steel
• Man of steel’s production companies are extremely well known and are the top
worldwide production. Warner Bro’s are one of the most powerful and top
production company in the world.
• Warner bro’s are a company that gain advantage over others as they have more
money to spend and advertise which ultimately if you don’t advertise your film its
not likely to be successful. With Warner bro’s they are a successful company and
therefore they have more power over the smaller companies.
• However with such a huge amount of money spent of these films it means that it
has to earn more to reach and earn a profit.
• However with a huge wide range of its target audience went to see it and the
genre of action and sci-fi obviously brought the customers in. Man of steel is in
the top 10 of biggest budgets spent and it lived up to this by making a huge
amount of sales.
4. Low Budget films: One night in Istanbul
• One night in Istanbul’s production companies are hardly known at all and only
have a couple of films to there names.
• However with these small budgets it means that they don’t have to sell the film
as much as they wont have to earn such a large amount to even break even. This
means that they could sell less than the high budget films and could earn more
money.
• One night in Istanbul is currently only in the UK and Ireland and therefore it is not
a worldwide box office but instead it is hitting a selected area. Therefore I believe
that it is not as successful as it has not broken into other areas of the world.
• One night in Istanbul is a comedy-drama and therefore it will hit a certain amount
of target audience. This appeals to people who enjoy football as it is ultimately
about a time period in history which means overall there is less people that are
likely to see this film.
