4. ODEON
WHAT’S ON?
• Looking at Odeon
Cinemas around the
country you can see
that the featured films
are almost exactly the
same, for example,
there is very little
change in the featured
films between
Guildford and
Tunbridge wells
5. ODEON
WHAT’S ON?
• Many of the films
showing at Odeon
could be classed as
some form of thriller.
• Many of them are also
a similar age rating
(15) to our film
6. ODEON
WHAT’S ON?
• With 7/12 of Odeon’s
feature films at the
moment being some
sort of thriller and 6/12
of them being the
same age rating as
ours, you’d expect
that our film would fit
in well with the others
showing there.
7. ODEON
WHAT’S ON?
• However, all the films
showing at the Odeon are
very mainstream, majorly
produced by large
companies, have huge
budgets and huge actors.
• We, on the other hand,
produced the film
independently, had a
budget of about £5 - and
Filip.
• Therefore, it’s next-to-
impossible that it’s the
type of film that Odeon or
other major films would
be looking for to show.
9. GODALMING CINEMA
• Godalming cinema is
in a very small hall
with one screen that
shows 1 film and one
kids film at a time that
rotate around every
couple of weeks.
• They tend to show
films that have
finished their time in
the cinema but
haven’t come out on
DVD yet.
10. GODALMING CINEMA
• Godalming cinema
would be a potential
platform for our film as
they are very local
and so would be keen
to show locally
produced films.
11. GODALMING CINEMA
• However, the cinema
tends to show films more
suited to the good people
of Godalming, who tend
to not prefer the thriller
genre and instead enjoy
‘calmer’ films more. For
example, at the moment
the cinema is showing
Suffragette.
• They also only show one
film (apart from a kids
film) at a time and so it
would mean that ours
would have to compete
with other films which
would be hard.
13. VUE
PROS CONS
- Huge festival so many people
would see the film
- Standard of films being shown
there is much higher than ours and
so it wouldn’t make ours look good.
- Shows all genres and types of film - Risk that critics there give negative
reviews
- There would be critics there and so
positive reviews of the film would
help get the word out.
14. THE SURREY FILM
FESTIVAL
PROS CONS
- Very local so we can see what the
people in this area think of the film.
- Not as big of an audience as other
larger festivals
- Shows all genres and types of film - Risk that critics there give negative
reviews
- There would also probably be
critics there and so positive reviews
of the film would help get the word
out of just Surrey.
15. THE UK JEWISH FILM
FESTIVAL
PROS CONS
None of us are Jewish.
17. FILM 4
Would be a potential
platform to show our
film as they show all
sorts of films at
different times of the
day.
For example, tonight
the channel is showing
‘None Shall Escape’,
‘Big Business’, ‘Horton
Hears a Who!’, and ‘A
Knight’s Tale’
18. SKY MOVIES
Would not be as good
as a showing platform;
it’s only accessible to
Sky customers who
chose to pay even
more for sky movies,
therefore not as many
people would see it.
They also tend to
show much more
major films and so
ours wouldn’t be as
appropriate.
19. SONY MOVIE CHANNEL
Like Sky Movies, Sony
Movie Channel is a TV
channel you have to pay
for and so would also not
get as much viewing.
However, could also be a
good channel as they
show all sorts of movies
and so could include
ours.
For example, tonight
they are showing ‘The
Passenger’, ‘Autumn in
New York’, ‘Journey to
Spirit Island’ and ‘Vice
Versa’
