Q3
1.
2. We decided to rate our film 15 as the BBFC guidelines
state that unsuitable subject is not to be seen by
anyone under this age and so ruled out the age of 12.
Furthermore we felt that 18 was not necessary as there
were not any explicit sex scenes of such.
We also looked at the British Film Institute and came to
conclude that our film would be classified as category
A which stated that the film was made using British
money, personnel and resources.
3. My group and I included two production companies in the
opening of our short film. The first one was ‘Dynamica
Studios’. This idea was brought about by the word
dynamics.
The word is often associated with energy and explosions.
We used this to link in to how presented the logo.
‘Dynamica studios’ is shown in a western sort of style with
bullets being shot at the screen and red text appearing
along with it. We chose this logo as it creates an excitable
moving picture and the audience are instantly hooked in.
4. JARS Production was the second production logo
which my group and I created. This was personally
my favorite as it was formed using the initials of
each of our names. James, Abdikhaliq, Rihanna
and Shiala.
We presented JARS Production in a more traditional
form with white font, black background and a blue
circulating pattern around it. This helped in making
both the production logos and our short film look
more professional.
5. The job of any production logo is to fund, facilitate
and distribute a recording such as a film. They
supervise tasks such as scripting scheduling and
budgeting from beginning to completion.
The distribution company must have links within the
filming industry and ways to promote the film into
marketing. This means that the audience would be
able to watch the film whether it be on the cinema
screen or at home through DVD or blue-ray.
6. Flower is a small independent company that
currently is not very well known. For this reason we
would expect production companies such as warp
films to help distribute our short film as it would be a
stepping stone for us. Additionally, we could also
use self-distribution, for example by submitting our
film to Create Space which would give our team
an opportunity to raise money and therefore fund
our short film independently. We could also use
companies such as Netflix to help distribute Flower.
7. Our short film is similar to ones such as ‘About a Girl’ by
Brian Percival, ‘Soft’ by Brian Ellis and ‘Wasp’ by Andrea
Arnold.
‘Soft’ was funded by ‘Cinema Extreme’ whilst ‘About a
Girl’ was distributed by ‘Dazzle’. These short films are very
closely linked to the content of Flower and so we would
expect similar distributors to help promote and supervise
the making of our short film.
