Social media and marketing have significant psychological impacts on children and teens. Excessive exposure to ads, desire for brand names, and focus on appearance can lower self-esteem and promote unhealthy behaviors. Parents struggle to set limits in the face of intense marketing pressures. Schools and communities need to support parents by educating youth, restricting ads, and promoting critical thinking skills to resist undue influence.
This research brief summarizes a study on school engagement among families with criminal justice system involvement. The study found that paternal incarceration is associated with less involvement in school-based activities, likely due to system avoidance by fathers who distrust surveilling institutions like schools. However, incarceration did not impact home-based parental involvement like helping with homework. The brief concludes that schools can encourage involvement from previously incarcerated fathers by establishing a safe, non-surveilling environment and connecting families to supportive programs.
The document discusses strategies for increasing influenza vaccination rates among 18-25 year olds in Virginia. It outlines research that was conducted, including a focus group and survey. The research found that parents are a key influence on young adults getting vaccinated. It recommends a two-pronged approach - a digital campaign using social media like Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest targeting both parents and 18-25 year olds, as well as a physical campaign partnering with colleges to provide convenient vaccination locations on campus. The goal is to increase vaccination rates among 18-25 year olds in Virginia to 40% by 2015. It provides details on implementation, evaluation metrics, and a proposed budget of $26,925 for the initial 4 month campaign
Children are heavily exposed to advertising, watching an average of 25,000 to 40,000 TV commercials per year. They influence over $130-670 billion in annual parental purchases. The advertising industry targets children because they are loyal brand customers and influence family spending. However, advertising has been linked to increased tobacco, alcohol, and drug use in children as well as rising obesity rates. While banning all child-targeted advertising is debated, solutions proposed include educating children about advertising's purpose and increasing non-branded children's programming.
Media uses and effects in stages of family lifejjdavies
This document summarizes a study examining how media use and its effects change during different stages of family life. The study found decreasing trends in families' engagement in alternative activities to media, healthy media use, parental monitoring, and consistency as families progressed to later stages. It also found increasing trends in families' knowledge of media effects and resistance to media effects. Additionally, the presence of siblings was found to interact with family stage and affect the relationship between media use and school performance.

Children's influence in purchase decisionsParin Dave
Children's influence in family purchase decisions varies based on product type, decision stage, and parental, child, and family characteristics. Children have the most influence for products they will primarily use, like food, toys, and clothes, and their influence decreases as decisions progress from problem recognition to choice. Older children and those from higher income families tend to have greater influence. Characteristics like traditional parental attitudes, larger family size, and decisions involving greater financial risk reduce a child's impact.

Parental Opinion Survey Summary of FindingsMike Blamires
The document summarizes findings from a parental opinion survey in the UK that explored parents' experiences, views, and confidence in various parenting domains. Key findings include:
1) The survey found differences in parenting frustration levels based on demographic factors like number of children and education level, as well as attitudes around time, child behavior, and confidence. Parents of children with special needs reported more behavior challenges.
2) Most parents felt involved in their child's education, but confident parents reported greater involvement. Non-resident parents desired more involvement.
3) While most parents knew where to find parenting information and services, confidence varied by factors like education level. A parents' panel provided additional insights into parental views and experiences.

This document discusses the impact of media on teaching and learning from various perspectives. It notes that technology shapes how people think and media can influence social values. TV in particular is seen as an attractive information source but can displace active learning. Studies show media violence increases aggressive behavior in youth and media contains high levels of violence, sexual content, tobacco and alcohol use. However, anti-drug media campaigns have been shown to increase awareness among youth. The document recommends media education to help people critically evaluate messages and make positive media choices, and encourages pediatricians to educate parents on limiting youth media time and selecting appropriate content.

Marketing to Families With Kids: New Strategies in Targeting MothersDatamonitor Consumer
This document provides a summary of a report on marketing strategies for targeting mothers. Key points include:
- Mothers are increasingly sophisticated consumers but still find company messages useful. They pay close attention to health and time-saving claims.
- Traditional terms like "soccer mom" do not reflect women's identities and can lead to misdirected efforts. Successful ads feature idealized parent-child interactions.
- Understanding mothers' values, statuses, and attitudes is key to engaging them. Collaborating directly with mothers on products appeals to both mothers and children.
Early childhood experiences with higher quality child care are associated with better cognitive and academic outcomes in adolescence, while a greater number of hours in non-relative care can predict poorer social adjustment. The effects of early child care on development can be mediated by prior cognitive and social functioning, and children from lower-income families may benefit more academically from higher-quality care experiences.

The document discusses emerging parent preferences for communication and engagement with schools. It highlights findings from a national poll of nearly 5,000 parents during the 2021-2022 school year. Key findings include:
1) Parents' top concerns about their child's future are the impact of school disruptions on social/emotional health and academic achievement. Lower-income families expressed greater concern about these impacts.
2) Parents' feelings of engagement differ by grade level, with elementary parents feeling most connected and high school parents feeling least connected.
3) Parents' preferences for communication tools differ according to the type of message and the age of the parent. Younger parents prefer more digital tools while older parents prefer more traditional methods.
Parenting Styles and Academic Performance of Senior High School StudentsAJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: The district-wide survey study examined the parenting styles and academic performance among
Grade 12 learners in Social Science amidst the CoViD-19 pandemic. The study involved two hundred forty-four
(244) parents as respondents. The study used descriptive research design through survey questionnaires as the
main instrument in gathering the required data. Descriptive and Inferential statistics were employed in the
computation, analysis, and interpretation of data. Results of the study revealed that most parent-respondents are
female, in their middle adulthood, with a minimum family and a number of children. Parents agree on the
parenting styles they do. The mean academic performance of Grade 12 learners in Social Science was "Very
Satisfactory". There was a significant difference in parents' parenting styles as to authoritarian style when
respondents were grouped according to age and family monthly income. There was a significant difference in
parents' parenting styles as to permissive style when respondents were grouped according to age. There was a
significant difference in parents' parenting styles as to authoritative style when respondents were grouped
according to the number of children in the family. There was a very low positive correlation between the
parenting styles of parents and the academic performance of Grade 12 learners in Social Science. Based on the
study's findings, parents may consider exploring appropriate parenting styles to motivate their children, and
parents are encouraged not to spoil their children. Parents are encouraged to attend any PTA meetings to show
support for their children's learning. The parents may consider equally practiced parenting styles as
authoritarian, permissive, and authoritative regardless of their profile. It may be possible to undertake a
comparative study with a bigger sample size of participants from various places to validate and enhance the
generalizability of the results.

This document discusses the effects of screen technology on childhood development. It begins by introducing the speaker, Dr. Mary Burke, and her qualifications. She then asks the audience secret questions about their own screen usage habits. The main points are that screens provide abnormal sensory input that can weaken brain systems, attachment behaviors, and language development. While guidelines state limited screen time is okay, what actually happens is overuse. The document reviews increasing health and developmental issues in children that relate to media exposure and overuse. It discusses the addictive properties of screens and how they activate reward systems in the brain. Clinical trials show reducing screen time can lower obesity and aggression. The speaker advocates a screen-free approach for young children.

The document discusses several factors that affect child development, including parenting styles, media influences, peer influences, and physical activity. It describes different parenting styles (authoritative, authoritarian, indulgent, neglectful) and their effects. Studies discussed found that violent media can increase aggressive behavior in children, while educational media like Sesame Street can improve behaviors. Peer influence can be positive by increasing feelings of acceptance, but negative peers may promote poor behavior and decrease school value. Physical activity is also impacted by mimicking peers. Overall, peer groups are important for development if a range of friends are socialized with.

Teen pregnancy as a social problem
Introduction
Teen pregnancy is a case whereby a teenage girl, between the ages of 13 and 19 can become pregnant. Typically, a girl within this age range cannot be considered to be an adult and thus considered too young to conceive and bear a child. Besides this, childbearing comes with many other responsibilities in which case a teenage girl may not be able to address.
Background
Thesis: This research seeks to investigate significant facts and factors surrounding teen pregnancy, which identifies it to be a social problem.
The issue of teen pregnancies have has been a matter of concern to religious leaders, policymaker, social scientists, and the communities due to the threats posed on the lives of the young mothers and their children. The life of a teen girl changes the instant that she bears a child at such as young age. The life of the child is also affected in multiple ways, and so is society. Already, the topic of teen pregnancy has attracted the attention of parents, social communities, and leaders who wish to take various initiatives to reduce its incidence. However, the social perception of teen pregnancy continues to challenge these efforts due to media influences, which continue to portray teen pregnancy positively.
According to analysis by Edwards (2015), persons who are below 25 years comprise half of the world’s population with 1.8 billion making up those aged between 10 and 25 years. Evidently, most people become sexually active before they are 20 years old. Besides this more, 49 percent of girls in the least developed countries get into marriage before they reach 18 years. This set of data shows that the risk of having teenage pregnancies is still high. There are fewer cases of teenage pregnancies in the world today as compared to how the situation was in the early days before the 1970s. However, this is no reason to justify the current rate of teenage pregnancies nor is it a claim that the situation has been exaggerated. The truth of the matter is that most of the teenage pregnancies in the earlier days were to married couples; besides this, early childbearing was considered to be a social norm. Current situations are completely different from what existed in the past, especially since many women, who choose to postpone childbearing, have socially adopted methods such as the use of contraceptives and legal abortion. This topic is important in comparing the past and present experiences of teen pregnancy with the aim of projecting what the situation will be like in the future.
Statement of the problem
Importance of the study
Teen pregnancies affect different parts of the world differently. The situation experienced in developed countries is defini.
Winooski Family-School Communication StudySean McMannon
A study was conducted of family-school communication in the Winooski School District. 59 parents and guardians were interviewed about their experiences communicating with the schools. Key findings included that most parents are satisfied with communication, but want quicker responses from staff, earlier notification of struggles, and more frequent updates. Many don't use computers to track progress, so phone communication needs improving. The report also assessed awareness and opinions of Partnership for Change initiatives like personalized learning plans and student learning in the community. While excited about more student involvement, some parents had concerns about preparation for college and how changes will be managed.

Singapore Fatherhood Public Perception Survey 2009Dads for Life
Findings from the Singapore Fatherhood Public Perception Survey 2009, commissioned by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS), point to the need and desire in Singaporean fathers to be more involved in active fathering.
97% of Singaporeans are of the view that fathers play an important role in their children’s lives, according to the Singapore Fatherhood Public Perception Survey conducted in 2009.
The survey commissioned by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, covered more than 2,000 respondents from a cross section of the population.
96% of the fathers surveyed wish that they could spend more time with their children in their growing years.
Findings from the survey show that there is agreement that fathers have a strong influence in shaping their children’s values (82%), as well as affecting general behaviour (80%) and psychological health (77%).
96% of the fathers surveyed also feel very committed to their role as a father, and 95% of them say that being a father and raising children is one of the most fulfilling experiences a man can have.
However, fathers still spend less time with their children than mothers. On average, during the weekend, a father typically spends about 8.4 hours a day with his children as compared to 10.5 hours spent by a mother.

Head of Community and Safety Silja Nielsen, watAgame. Esitys Mediakasvatusseuran Mediakasvatus <3 seksuaalikasvatus -seminaarissa, 1.11.2016 / Tieteiden talo, Helsinki.
The document summarizes the perspectives of Finnish media educators on recommendations for children and youth's media use. A survey of 64 media educators found that the term "screen time" is too simplistic and doesn't consider content. Respondents felt that recommendations should focus more on what children do online rather than just time spent. While some guidelines on time are still useful, educators saw a need for updated, shared norms and qualitative recommendations, especially for young children, addressing content, self-evaluation, and balancing media use with other activities. Current topics in media education discussed included privacy, commercialization, and ensuring cooperation across the field.
Saadut vastaukset on tiivistetty alla kysymyskohtaisesti. LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can
occur natural.
How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.

Political Socialization and Civic Engagement
Political socialization – “a developmental process by
which children and adolescents acquire cognitions,
attitudes, and behaviors relating to their political
environment” (Atkin & Gantz, 1978, p. 184).
These two processes are vital to maintaining democratic life.
• They can determine whether an individual is to become a well-guided
citizen, taking interest in political and civic issues and demonstrating
political and social involvement, or remain indifferent and aloof,
unwilling to make a difference in his/her environment.
Political socialization agents:
• The media – the news
• Parents
3. 3
Children and the news – A mixed blessing
• The news genre could significantly contribute to the political
socialization of children and to their social involvement.
• Correlations were found between news consumption, particularly
TV news, and children’s command of politics, state affairs and
civic issues, as well as their views in these areas.
• children who watch more news demonstrate greater political
knowledge and deeper political understanding and moreover, show
greater curiosity in news contents.
It is important that children will consume news.
But,
children’s consumption of news also has disadvantages:
• News may have adverse effects on children
(e.g. news watching stirs fear, anxiety and restlessness among young
viewers).
• Children are faced with difficulties during and after news
watching
• Young viewers express aversion to news
4. 4
Parents as socialization agents
Parents are perceived as significant political socialization agents,
inspiring their offspring’s political socialization and social
engagement.
The parents’ influence can be manifested in different ways, from
inspiring the political stances adopted by their children to conducts
such as political involvement and willingness to partake in social
events and community events.
Do parents also influence their children's political
socialization by influencing their children's news exposure
and their attitudes to this genre?
Parents have influence on the function of media as socialization
agent in the lives of their children. They also mediate the media
to the child.
We can assume that parents have a contribution in shaping
the role of the news genre in the lives of their children.
