2. ‘WE DON’T TALK ANYMORE’ –
CHARLIE PUTH
• These 5 videos serve as influences that will help me
develop my creativity during my production. For instance, I
will be taking influence from 'We Don't Talk Anymore' by
Charlie Puth as there will be several shots of the two artists
in different locations seen through a split screen.
Furthermore, I will colour grade the scenes making one
look much warmer and the other looking cooler to
highlight the character’s differences. Furthermore, when I
edit the video I will also include black borders on the top
and bottom of the screen throughout because this is
typically used in most pop songs as it creates a more
cinematic and dramatic effect. It also looks more
professional which is something we are aiming to do.

3. ‘WE FOUND LOVE’ –
RIHANNA
• We will also be taking influence from 'We Found Love' by
Rihanna, specifically the editing techniques. For example,
as the music builds up there is a fast pace montage of
events. In our chosen song 'Dusk Till Dawn' there are
sequences before the chorus which will fit this perfectly
and in the very beginning. The use of this is to show our
audiences how much time and how significant the
relationship of our actors is to create a more
sympathising tone. As Rihanna’s video uses a lot of low
key lighting with colourful neon lights as a symbol of
hallucination and drugs. We will be doing something
similar but changing the neon lights with bright white
lights through our props with candles, sparklers and fairy
lights. This is going to act as a motif of hope throughout
our video.

4. ‘HAVANA’ –
CAMILA CABELLO
• Another influential video is Camila Cabello's
'Havana' because of the setting. During the
performance of the video, it is set in low-key
lighting and surrounded by candle lights. We also
planned to do this but also for through the
narrative of our music video - not just the
performance. Furthermore, during her performance
she is often centred in the middle of the frame and
looks directly at the camera. We will also use the
same positioning and eye contact to create a more
intriguing appeal to the audience.

5. ‘PERFECT’ –
ED SHEERAN
• Another influencing video is Ed Sheeran's 'Perfect' video
which clearly has a narrative of being in love. We will take
inspiration of this by having a plethora of scenes where the
couple is together to show a clear understanding of the
narrative. However, there is also a moment in our music video
where the couple will behave harsh with each other which we
will have to also show several shots like 'Perfect' to keep the
narrative coherent. To convince the audience that the actors
in the music video are in a deep serious relationship, we will
have several scenes of the couples happy moments to show
the audience how much they’ve been through with each
other. Typically of music videos the narrative is kept in line
with the rule of 3 which is something I will keep most of the
time, however there may be scenes when they are positioned
more to the centre just to make the couple the focus of the
scene rather than being distracted by background.

6. ‘FANCY’ –
IGGY AZALEA
• I will be taking influence from Iggy Azalea's
'Fancy' as she includes forms of intertexuality
supported by Goodwin. I will be doing this
through the use of mise-en-scene as I will have
a book as a prop which will connect with some
of my target audience who are young teens that
could still be in education. The book will
reference something most people have learnt
during their English class and will also add a bit
more depth of the actor making her seem
intellectual.

7. ‘THAT’S WHAT I LIKE’ & ‘VERSACE
ON THE FLOOR’ – BRUNO MARS
• I will be taking influence from Bruno Mars'
song 'That's What I Like' as his actions are
synchronous to the music through his
actions. We will also be doing this in addition
to editing the sequence to match the music’s
base. Furthermore, we may also add the
scribble animation effect just to make the
happy scenes more playful. It will also
interest our young audience more.
• From ‘Versace on the floor’ we may include
the idea of the female actress doing a lip
sync of the males lyrics.
