A few popular artists in Sony Music is: Beyoncé, Michael Jackson,
Britney Spears and Mariah Carey which are all artists who our
extremely popular in the pop genre. Sony Music distribute and
connect with their audience through several social media platforms
including: YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google+.
Sony also creates products for the audience to listen to
music which provide high quality. For example, their
Signature Series which includes stereo headphones, an
amplifier and a digital music player, all to elevate the
quality of sound for the audience.
Sony music would suit our artist because they
include pop music. However, with their
various other genre’s it may not bring as
much attention to our artists as it would for a
record label who mainly focuses on pop
music.
3. XL Recordings is an independent label established in 1989 by Richard
Russel and Nick Halkes in the UK. They are one of the most successful indie
labels with artists like Frank Ocean, MIA and Dizzee Rascal. They include
various genres like pop, rock, hip-hop etc. Their logo is very iconic of their
group.
Unlike major labels, independent labels like XL recordings allows the
artists to be creative with their music. For instance, the creative director
collaborated with the individual to create the visuals of the video.
XL Recordings doe appeal to my artists as they include pop genre and
allow a more broad freedom of creativity. However, pop songs have
generic visuals about romance which would reflect more on major labels
like Sony Music.
Although XL
Recording is popular,
it may have lost its
reputation as it lost
Adele, its most
popular artist to Sony
Records as she was
signed for 90 million.
