Background

The Script is Irish pop band who are based in London and they were formed in 2005. There are three members of the band (Danny
O’Donoghue, Mark Sheehan and Glen Power). The two main instruments that The Script use are the guitar (played by Sheehan) and the drums
(played by Power) and the use of various instruments in their different songs. The lead singer Danny makes the group recognisable with his
distinctive voice and also the emotion that he put’s across into his voice and also their songs that The Script release are usually very heartfelt
and emotional and it can be very relatable for their fans if they’re going through similar situations.

The Band released their debut album in 2008 titled “The Script” with many popular songs such as “Breakeven” and “The Man Who Can’t Be
Moved”. Their second studio album Science and Faith (2010) and also their third album #3 was released in September of this year. The script
are very popular around the world in places such as Australia and America and perform across the globe at festivals and also their own
headline tours.

“The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” concepts and ideas

We decided to do the song “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” which is taken from The Script’s debut album we decided to do this song because
we feel that there could many ideas that we could use for the video through the lyrics which are emotional and heartfelt which the band is
well known for. As a team we wanted a less well known so we would bring a whole new idea to the song and its meaning, but we felt that if we
did one of the more popular songs people would instantly recognise it and we would have an idea on how we could compare it to the original
video. We want to show the audience of the idea of what extremes people will go to for love, and also show the loneliness of people when
they have lost someone they love and the lyrics within the song work perfectly with these ideas.
Performance and narrative

The message that we are trying to get across in our video is that everyone has that one person that they truly love and if they do unfortunately
lose that person you should go to the extremes to win that person back. The narrative we want to do in our video is to show that the male
character is trying to get the girls of his dreams back and so he decides to sit at the place that they first met and if she does truly feel the same
she will go to that place were their love for each other first ignited. The Main actor (Danial Kennedy) will be the main focusing point of our
video, we want our target to audience to sympathise and have an emotional attachment with the character, and also we want the audience to
relate to the song and the situation. The audience is going to primarily be aimed towards the teenage age group from 13 to 19 year olds,
however personally I believe that a band such as The Script can appeal to everyone as they have very catchy and likeable songs which can be
instantly recognisable and also the themes of the band’s songs are very relatable to a wide amount and this is one of the reasons why they are
so popular. There is also the use of flashback sequences within the video which will involve our male’s love interest (Annie Whitelock), these
flashback sequences are used to remind the audience of what the male used to have and how happy he was and also to show the soul reason
why he is doing what he is doing in this video. We want the video to be very simplistic and not flashy at all so we won’t be using such things as
dance routines cause we feel that they have no relevance to what we are trying to create and also we believe that it would distract the
audience from the matter at hand and that the story is invigorating enough to keep the audience’s attention and there would be no need for
gimmicks such as routines, and also if the video has simplicity I feel that it would tie in with the message within the video which is that the
love is simple and not flashy and dolled up especially this characters unedifying love for this girl and goes to such extreme lengths to get this
simple love again. The narrative we will be using is illustrative and we will be using lots of close up shots of the male actor.
The music video

In our music video as I have said we are looking to highlight the extreme lengths people will go for love and also the sadness of the male and
also how much he misses this girl and the wonderful love that they once shared. We will be frequently using close up shots on both of the
characters so we can get their emotion across to the audience, there will also be cross cuts to the actress to show what life is like for her since
she moved on and also we will use close ups to show her reaction when she sees this man she once loved on the television.

Illustrated narrative

We will be using a n illustrative narrative so we will show in the correct order through to the end, we also be adding the flashback sequences in
to give the audience a contrast of their past and how they were and showing what they are like now.

Locations

Any of locations that we could possibly use for our video will be the starting point for the videos narrative we will find a significant feature of
that location and use it for the point where the two characters first meet and where there love blossoms and this location will have the
greatest significance the video.
Hartlepool Headland

We decided to use the Hartlepool Headland as it has beautiful scenery and the results from an audience research we carried showed that
people would expect to see a place with beautiful scenery for a location of a video. Also the headland has a long rich history so it could be
easily recognised by the audience and also there is lots of potential for the flashback sequences to take place e.g. walks on the beach and
eating fish & chips this will highlight the fun and also romantic times that the characters shared at this location and also why the male
character has came back as it has some great significance to him and the female character. Also the headland is quite a quiet and sometimes
lonely place to be and this can intensify the loneliness that the male character is feeling.

Middlesbrough high street

We decided Middlesbrough high street as another option as we feel that it would be a good setting to find love as there is so many people but
it can also highlight the characters loneliness and sadness as he surrounded by vast amounts of people but yet he there is still not that one
person that makes him happy. Also in the middle of the high street there is quite a large monument which could be perfect to use as our
starting point and as with the Hartlepool headland there is a lot of potential for the flashback sequences e.g. shopping, cinema and
restaurants. Also from the audience research the majority of people expected a video to take a in a busy public place so we are using elements
that are already popular with the audience and which they have regularly

A good example of this would be Oh My Goodness by pop artist Olly Murs, this video takes place in a busy shopping centre and he too finds
love and like our character he goes to extreme to gain that love in Olly’s case he runs around the shopping centre until he finds this woman.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0r8zxsWoR4
Lighting

The main source of light we will be using will be natural light as the majority of the video will be set and shot outdoors,
and it will be shot in the daytime so there will be no need for artificial lighting. However there could possibly be some scenes that will need to
be shot inside so if there is not enough natural light we will resort to a small amount of artificial light.

Unfourtantley as we will be shooting this video towards of October this is when the clocks turn back meaning that there will be less hours of
sunlight for us to shoot in, we will tackle this issue to the best of our ability by making sure our shooting schedules give us enough time to
shoot the scenes needed while it is still daylight.

Camera

We want to wide variety of camera shots and techniques within our video so it makes our end product look more professional and also much
more aesthetically pleasing for the audience. We also want to use camera techniques and shots that we haven’t used in our previous projects
to again make it look more professional and it will also help improve our skills and gain more experience with camera. As I have said we intend
to use close up shots frequently to highlight the sadness that the male character is feeling and also to show the character raw emotion. It will
also tie in with Andrew Goodwin’s he said that the record companies use ‘meat shots’ frequently to help promote and sell the artist and that is
what we are intending to do.
Effects and editing

As a group we feel that we don’t want to use editing as we feel it can distract the audience from the emotional performance and also the
narrative that is being told and also it gives it more of a raw feel, however we are open to new ideas and techniques and we may eventually
change our opinion and use effects if they are necessary in the video.

Effects however could be very useful in our video for example during the flashback sequences we could use brighter colours as it shows that
was the happiest point, we could also use a black and white effect for the scenes in the present day to show the characters and to highlight
that the one thing that made everything bright and happy for him is no longer there.

All these effects should be possible to carry out on the Final Cut HD software which we will be using.
