The music video will tell a narrative story through a series of scenes that juxtapose the protagonist's present and past. It will begin with the protagonist in a cluttered office to represent their present, then cut to scenes showing their childhood self happily playing that contrast with darker lyrics. Scenes will match lyrics visually, like showing the protagonist walking on concrete. Costumes, lighting, weather, and props will be used to convey different meanings - the office will feel stressful while the park empowering. The story is meant to explore holding onto one's inner child.

3. Plot
The idea for this music video resides from a narrative-performance with camera
shots switching between characters/ actors lip syncing & performing, and then
the characters/ actors acting out the narrative element of the song in order to
grasp the audience’s attention through a series of juxtaposing and conflicting
scenes that capture the interest of our desired target audience.
The music video will begin in an office environment, showing a close up of the
protagonists suit, as the camera zooms out to show the protagonist’s congested
desk environment. This is considered the present within the music video in this
circular narrative music video meaning the song will eventually link back to the
same shot the audience will see in the opening verse.
There will be a lyric and visual match as we will physically see shoes on concrete
as the song reads “feet on the ground” in the second line. Matching the beat and
the tempo of the music, the following scene will track the protagonist in a mid-
shot walking towards the camera surrounded by foliage to imply the words
“clean as a whistle” to mean
lacking of taking any substances that are deemed ‘adult’, whether
these may be illegal drugs, cigarettes, or even alcohol. At this
point in the music video, the main actor would be lip syncing, and
walking to the beat/ tempo of the song to hold that
accompaniment between the music and the visuals.
The following scene is contrasted between the older character
and previous scene taking place in the present day of the timeline
the song resides on. In this short clip, the audience will see the
child form of the protagonist literally demonstrating the line “life
like a kid and play-ay-ay” by running around a field playing
football with a collaboration of close up shots of the character’s
shoes kicking the ball and moving shots of the movement of the
character themselves as they race across the football pitch.
A contradiction to the lyrics “some of them die death” is created
within the character switch where the child is swapped out within
the football pitch to that of the main protagonist expressing their
inner child - as demonstrated within the previous shot - despite
the line implying the child within someone being repressed.

4. Treatment
The music video will predominantly be a narrative structure with elements of
performance. This will be shown via a variety of camera shots used to show lip-
syncing, acting and performing. These particular microelements will help capture
and intrigue the audience's attention, here are some specific examples.

include different scenes with these
different types of filming and will also
include a variety of conflicting scenes to
capture the attention of the audience and
create “enigma codes” to ensure the
audience continues watching.

The character will then swap to a younger version, this will
link with the clothing used a more “relaxed” casual set of
clothing to accurately reflect mood changes. The photo

7. Weather: Rain or Shine?
The character will change scenes throughout the music video. It will be important that the weather is correct in
each scene, for example in the office scene it will be a good idea if there is the ambient sound of rain in the
background to give of the connotations of stress, anxiety an uncomfortableness. However in the park scene
there will need to be sunshine to give off the feeling of happiness. It will not work if there is rain.

8. Lighting
The lighting used throughout the music
video will need to be carefully controlled
to give the desired viewer effect. For
example in the office environment
(example picture included) the lighting will
need to be low to give off readings of
claustrophobia and the feeling of not
being able to escape, however the park
will need to be seen as quite bright
meaning that the audience will be able to
see to this character that the environment
is a lot nicer and calming.

In the office environment the character will have a range of props such as a
chewed up pen, this may not be shown on a desk like in the photo included but
as him chewing it with an eyeline match as he looks over to the pile of paperwork
that is clearly disorganised and unfinished. Then after some dialogue with
another character there may be a point of view shot to his “Overdue” bill showing
that he is clearly in fact struggling. Once the character heads to the park there
will be a range of activities carried out. Such as playing football, playing on the
swings and the roundabout. This will give clear readings that in the office
environment he is in fact stressed however in the park environment he is
enjoying it.
