how they’re supposed to look
Most pictures will be
drawn due to
illustrations in the book
and the artistic
minimalism. Pictures of front covers from
similar books (found images)
to show how the covers are
different or similar
Not much pictures,
focus is writing so lots
of text
Alternate front cover
ideas, both minimalism
and realism
6. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected?
Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
• There’s a lot of purple and minimalism as these as the two main points of my
magazine cover.
• Most of the text is quite bold though there are a few outliers.
• The mood seems quite dark/depressing/ethereal with the purple which fits the
main tone of the book the magazine will be focusing on.
• Silhouettes and the mix between black and purple seem to be a common theme.
This is mixed with some red and black with a little bit of white to match the initial
colour design concept of the magazine.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
I will use a lot of the colours portrayed on the moodboard and how they're blended,
e.g. purple blended with white and orange for sunset in my colour scheme. I will also
incorporate the minimalistic style with the vectors and silhouettes. Furthermore, I will
include the idea of bold, white text to pop from the darkened background, meaning
my title will be very readable even from a far distance, hence eye-catching.
