Initial Plans

Initial Reaction
• I quite enjoy using Photoshop and editing my
own pictures on Photoshop and I was excited to
know I would be able to build my skills up.
• I enjoy reading magazines that revolve around
fashion, music and film, so my thoughts were that
I could create a magazine with all these aspects in
one, a bit similar to the NME magazine which I
enjoy to read. I am looking forward to taking my
own photos as I enjoy doing it but don’t get to do
it as often as I like, and including my friends in the
project.

Mood Board for Inspo
Mood Board for Inspo
Layout Designs and Inspo
Interesting use of
colour, I like the
layout of having one
main image and the
article on a separate
page.
Nicemoderntext,
andpredominantly
“feminine”colours.
Interesting layout of images,
could be a good way to show
present a lot at once.
Shapes and the models
“walking out” of the images
changes perception and
excites reader. This could be
something to explore for my
work.
Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
• For my front cover mood board, the front covers all have photos centred
on artists, and they are the focal point of the magazine cover. They all tend
to have a colour theme for example the Billie Eilish vogue cover is purple
toned which matches her violet outfit. They also usually have a slogan or a
sentence to give a little summary of why that person is on the cover and
gives insight into who they are. For example the NME cover of Liam
Gallagher says “Definitely Godlike” which is what he has referred to
himself as. It gives a background to him as an artist and lets the reader
make assumptions from that.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
• I think I’d like to use the colour co-ordination on my front cover as it makes
everything look “together’. I also like the title placement as it looks
professional and the Vogue mag which has a great reputation and is very
successful.
ScheduleWEEK OVERALL PLAN SPECIFIC TASKS
1 Research, Initial Response,
Audience Research
 Looking at different genre magazines
e.g Vouge, NME, Marie Claire, Empire –
give me some ideas on articles and
genre I want.
 Go online and research the audiences
for each magazine, and apply it to how I
can set my target audience.
2 Production Experiments,
Proposal, Planning
 To experiment, make copies of existing
covers so I can see what is realistic, and
practice taking photographs.
 Plan realistically, by using schedules
and lists. Also leave some extended
time for when I take my photographs
3 Production  Take photographs of my model Eleanor
in a few outfits of hers where the
clothes are second hand and found in
vintage stores, charity shops and at Kilo
Sales.
4 Production  Take photos of clothes in a pile on the
floor so I can talk about how it effects
the environment. Could also take
photos of clothes collection boxes,
possibly with Eleanor stood next to
them.
5 Evaluation  Evaluate what could be improved and
added next time, and how this project
has helped me with future projects.
Evaluate how my skills have developed
and what I have learnt. Talk about what
went well, and what worked and what
didn’t.
