Symbolism In August Wilson s Fences
Fences, by August Wilson, takes place in the 1950 s a time that was extremely difficult for many
African Americans. In my inspirational dramatic moment, Troy tells the story of his encounter with
the devil: Troy is unable to receive credit on a good deal of furniture, that he needs, due to his skin
color. According to Troy, a white man knocks on his door to offer higher priced furniture in exchange
for monthly payments. As his last resort, Troy accepts the deal, having to pay $10 to the man in the
beginning of every month until he pays off the furniture. The man was not seen again, persuading
Troy that the man was the devil. (15). The symbolism of the devil in Troy s story heavily deepens the
audience s understanding of the major theme of

The Tragedy Of The Salem Witchcraft Trials
The Salem witchcraft trials provide a great insight into the evolution of early evidence presented in
court and the impact public ideology can have on such evidence. From January of 1692 to May of
1693, hundreds were accused, nineteen men and women were hanged, and one was pressed to death
by stones. Most haunting of all, all of those convicted were found guilty through the presentation of
spectral evidence. In order to fully understand the tragedy of these trials, we must take many factors
into account. To begin, it should be noted that accusations of witchcraft were not unheard of at the
time. In fact, witchcraft prosecutions in England peaked toward the end of the sixteenth century, with
a lesser number still occurring in the first half of the seventeenth century. However, their most notable
difference from the Salem witchcraft trials is the fact that English cases were rarely taken to court.
This was because the laws criminalizing witchcraft did not align with folk ideas. For instance, the
courts required that both the pact with the Devil and real harm be established. Meanwhile, folk ideas
simply required one to establish involvement with the Devil. Yet, in both England and Salem,
unexplained illness, particularly of children, led to suspicions of witchcraft. In New England cases of
witchcraft around the first half of the seventeenth century, those accused were most often acquitted to
preserve the stability of society. Puritans deeply valued the idea of a stable

Ellen Grigsby 4 Types Of Power Analysis
Ellen Grigsby defines power as an ability to influence an event or outcome that allows the agent
exercising power to achieve an objective and/or influence another agent to act in a manner in which
the second agent, on its own, would not choose to act. Power is used in nearly every facet of life, not
only politics. Power can be inactive, also known as latent. This would or active, also known as
manifest. There are four different types of power including force, persuasion, manipulation, and
exchange. Each of these types have their own ethical grey areas; however, on a scale of moral to
immoral, persuasion and manipulation, respectively, would fall on either ends of the spectrum.
Grigsby lists the first type of power as force, defining it as, the exercise of power by physical means.
This type is most often what people think of as exercise of power. This is because force is a relatively
cheap. Force is not limited to physical violence; it can include physical sabotage as well. Physical
sabotage can take the form of boycotts, blockades, and peaceful protests. ... Show more content on

On the other hand, in politics persuasion can include lobbying, debating, and public speaking.
Manipulation is the third type of power. Grigsby explains it as, the nonphysical use of power in which
the agent exercising power over a second agent conceals the aims and intentions motivating exercise
of power. Unfortunately, it is incredibly difficult to pinpoint manipulation as its main purpose to

Feasibility And Benefits Of Business Process Outsourcing...
Research Report
Introduction
The research topic is to find the feasibility and the benefits of Business process outsourcing and
Knowledge process outsourcing, in India.
The research is planned to be conducted keeping Indian market in perspective, which is why one of
the booming industries Outsourcing units has been chosen, to complete the research on. India has
come out to be major player in the outsourcing business since past a few years. (Ahmedabad)
Outsourcing the business is in trend as it helps the company to cut the operational cost. It basically
means the multinational companies handing over of their task like sales or collections, to another
company on a target basis payment contract. This creates a win win situation for both the companies
as former one gets to save a lot of time, money and energy and the latter gets the business. India
specifically is benefitted because of several reasons as a huge population of economical and effective
labour resides in the country. India stands the second highest in possessing the english speaking and
computer friendly population. (Ahmedabad)
Typically, the business that is passed over to the business processing outsourcing units is the non core
activities of the multinational companies. This research will be done keeping the Indian market in
mind, which is why most of the references taken to make this literature review are done keeping
Indian industry in mind. Also it has been made sure, that most of the data used to make

Disadvantages Of Plastic Recycling
Another approach to plastic recycling is to actively collect plastic from a large region, and to either
recycle or resell the scrap. Vikoz Enterprises Inc. sends collection and transport vehicles to plants and
areas across the U.S. and Canada. Because of their active effort to collect plastic, Vikoz is the largest
plastic recycler in the U.S. and Canada (12)
Biggest types of recycled plastic
There are 7 standard recycling codes for plastic, shown with a triangular chasing arrow symbol with a
number inside as pictured in figure 2, in the appendix. The first plastic is PET/PETE, Polyethylene
Terephthalate. PET is used in most water and soda bottles and also in some packaging. PET is
susceptible to leaching and bacterial growth, so it should not be reused, but it is easily be recycled.
High Density Polyethylene, HDPE, is a stiff plastic that is often used to make products such as milk
jugs, oil bottles, toys, and plastic bags. HDPE is also very durable, and often used for outdoor
furniture and other products that require weather resistance and durability. HDPE is a very safe plastic,
and is easily recycled for secondary uses or reused.
PVC or Polyvinyl Chloride is a soft flexible plastic that is used for pipes, computer cable sheaths,
children and pet toys and packaging. PVC is also resistant to outdoor exposer and is used to make
numerous outdoor products. Only about 1% of PVC is recycled. PVC leaches numerous toxins during
its lifetime, and therefore should not be reused. Additionally, burning PVC releases many hazardous
chemicals including chlorine, which is deadly.
Low Density Polyethylene, LDPE, is commonly used to make packaging, bottles and grocery bags.
LDPE is generally safe to reuse, but it is not commonly recycled. Few places recycle LDPE, and
recycled LDPE is used for secondary uses, such as plastic lumber, landscaping boards, and floor tiles.
Polypropylene, PP, is a lightweight plastic that is both tough and heat resistant. PP is used for food
packaging, disposable diapers, bottle caps, and packing tape. PP is safe to reuse, and is recycled in
some areas. Currently, only 3% of PP is recycled, but more programs are beginning to accept PP
products.
Polystyrene, PS, is a lightweight material

Parental Leave Benefits
Two of the parental leave policies that I find especially generous are offered by Netflix and Microsoft.
I feel that Netflix s offering of paid leave for new mothers or fathers for an entire year after the baby s
birth is especially generous because most companies only offer a few months of maternity leave and is
not necessarily paid, and many companies offer a couple weeks of paternity leave paid if any at all.
Microsoft was especially generous when they nearly doubled their paid leave to twenty weeks for
women who had just given birth. I find this generous because on average many women only get up to
12 weeks unpaid leave.
There is a question that workers will take parental leave benefits because workers may think that

She mentions that she planned to work throughout the pregnancy and take limited time away like she
did with her son. The contradictory statement happens against Yahoo, who lengthened their parental
leave in 2013. This is said to be contradicting because she is a leader within the company who offers a
good amount of parental leave and if she does not take it herself than those coworkers beneath her are
more likely not to take it.
I do agree that there is contradictory signaling going on to a certain extent because if workers of
Yahoo see their boss not taking the leave the company offers the other workers do not want to
disappoint so they will not use the leave either. On the other hand, everyone lives their own life and
should make decisions that will best benefit them and their family and not base it off someone else.
I do not believe that there is a significant difference in the statements because the first statement is
read as take all the time you need, so when that person is ready to come back they should. With the
other statement of we ll see you in 12 weeks , I read that as in 12 weeks your job will still be there
even if you take the full 12 weeks. I feel as with either statement you could use the full 12 weeks or

Loss of Innocence in Sarah´s Key
Loss of Innocence A child is known for having innocence, and bad experiences strip kids of it. In
Sarah s Key by Tatiana De Rosnay, experiences cause a loss of innocence due to loss of freedom, loss
of hope, and loss of family. Freedom is a right that allows humans to live life to the fullest. In society
when a child has no basic rights of freedom, it causes them to grow up and lose their innocence. In
Sarah s Key, Sirka describes how she feels at the camp: The girl noticed a handful of people watching
them through the barbed wire.... The girl felt like she had become someone else. Someone hard, and
rude, and wild. Sometimes she fought with the older children, the ones who tried to grab the old stale
bread she had found. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

are coming for her . The thought of the Germans get[ting] her is causing her to use all the swearwords
her mother ha[s] forbidden her ever to use . Going against her mom by using words such as bastards is
an example of how she no longer is innocent. She is disobeying her authorities, by using language that
is not kid friendly. Sirka is no longer the sweet daughter, she has lost her naïve personality, changing
to a ruthless girl with a bad mouth. Lastly, is when Sirka hears rumors of the children getting
separated from the adults: There were rumors, rumors going around the camp. The parents were going
to be sent east, to work....She repeated the conversation to her mother. She said no... They couldn t
separate the children from the parents. In that sheltered gentle life that seemed far away, the girl would
have believed her mother.... But in this harsh new world, the girl felt she had grown up. She felt older
than her mother. (Rosnay 70 71) Sirka no longer lives in that sheltered gentle life that seemed far away
. She currently is kept in a camp, and may be split up from her parents. She no longer has a choice if
she wants to be with her parents, as the French are seperat[ing] the children from the parents . In this

Jesuit Values In Daily Life
It was a brisk, late December afternoon in 2016, the last day of a vacation in Washington D.C. with
my family. I was walking towards the capitol along the National Mall with no particular destination,
watching the stage being built on the capital for the inauguration of Donald Trump. I had campaigned
for Hillary Clinton, and I was still digesting the results of the election, feeling anything but pride for
the state of our nation. Then I saw a sign for the National Archives and, for some reason, felt drawn to
visit. After the short walk to the building and waiting in line, I soon enough found myself facing the
United States Constitution. As I read the faded words, We The People of the United States, I felt a
spark inside. I realized that, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In addition to the advantages of learning in a Jesuit community, Georgetown s rigorous academic
curriculum, combined with its location in the District and diverse community, fosters an ideal habitat
to grow as an intellectual and an individual. It is important to me that I attend a university that
challenges me academically so I am able to gain insight on diverse topics. The opportunity to take
classes in colleges like the Walsh School of Foreign Service and the McCourt School of Public Policy,
in addition to my classes in Georgetown College, would allow me to be best prepared to make
educated decisions on a wide range of subjects. Hands on experience in the inner workings of the
government is the best way to establish an understanding of the fundamental principles of the politics
in D.C., and Georgetown offers unparalleled access to internship and job opportunities in government.
The opportunity to work in the office of a congressperson or an advocacy group would provide me
with an insight to how Washington runs when I eventually have an office in the capitol myself. A
diverse educational environment, developing empathy for people different than me, is crucial to
understanding various point of views. When people of many backgrounds are represented

A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man Essay
A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man
Stephen Dedalus Rebel Without a Cause?
His soul had arisen from the grave of boyhood, spurning her grave clothes. Yes! Yes! Yes! He would

living thing, new and soaring and beautiful, impalpable, imperishable
Throughout A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man Stephen Dedalus is persistently portrayed as the
outsider, apart from the society he and his family inhabit, connecting with no one and seeking solitude
and isolation at every turn. Does this self imposed exile lead to or directly influence his artistic
awakening or not? This essay will examine (both thematically and stylistically) ... Show more content

The effect is claustrophobic but also highly instructive as the reader walks beside Stephen on his
journey of self discovery.
The readers, discerning as they are, will groan at some of Stephen s poetry and mawkish ideas but
they cannot deny that they are seeing what Stephen sees and experiencing his life first hand.
Stephen starts as an object Baby Tuckoo in his father s story of his early years and is thus without his
own identity. Later, at Clongowes, he is either gripped with embarrassment as he fails to connect with
his peers or speechless at a family Christmas dinner as debate and anger rages around him. He is
isolated, associating only with the sounds of words (belt, iss, suck) and other stimuli. He doesn t
understand the schoolboy argot and his consequent victimisation is all too predictable as his peers
react with typical schoolboy nastiness to a boy who doesn t fit in.
In protesting his palm whipping, however Stephen not only wins back the respect of his peers but also
performs his first act of rebellion or independence.
As a young boy, this apartness appears too real and solid to be something he just grows out of or
learns to subsume and he turns to literature as a means of escape. It is no mere chance that Stephen
enjoys The Count of Monte Cristo the story of choice for many schoolboys seeking escape from the
imprisonment of school and the cruelty

William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet
William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet
In Romeo and Juliet, love is depicted in several ways. Both Luhrman and Shakespeare represent love
in different ways in different contexts to both the Elizabethan era and the contemporary audience.
Both the original and later manifestations of the text are valued because they both communicate to the
audience on the values of love and society by employing a variety of devices.
The central subject dealt within Romeo and Juliet is the subject of love. William Shakespeare and Baz
Luhrman thus represent love to their audience beyond the distinct ideas of love as simple sentiments.
In the play, there are 2 basic levels the real world of Verona and the private, intimate sphere of Romeo
and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also reveals to the audience an empathy that the two star crossed lovers were made fore each
other. Luhrman achieves this via the use of smitten, longing looks, the close up shots, and the music of
Des ree (Kissing You).
Through Scene 5, Romeo continues to show himself as a hopeless romantic besotted with beautiful
girls. His language indicates that he thinks of love and commitment in terms of sight: Did my heart
love till now? Forswear it sight! For I ne er saw true beauty till this night , as he says at his first
glimpse of Juliet. This statement recalls Scene 2, in which he spoke of the devout religion of mine eye
and said that if his eyes were heretical enough o consider another girl more beautiful than his
Rosaline, his tears would turn to fire and burn at stake. However, as soon as he lays his eyes on Juliet,
his devotion to the apparently less beautiful Rosaline disappears and a new religion is found for
Romeo.
Shakespeare thus portrays Romeo and his love as an infatuation. This infatuation is evident in how
instantaneously Romeo falls out of love with Rosaline and into love with Juliet. At one stage, Rosaline
was the precious treasure of his eyesight , yet Romeo s embodiment of perfection was, a few scenes
later, his notion of defectiveness. This therefore reveals to the audience the instantaneous and reckless
path of the two lovers, as well as the fickleness of adolescent love , diminishing at the sight of

Why Are We Safe In Schools Essay
3. How to Make Schools Safe
To begin with, the first thing I will do to make schools safer is to install key card locks and metal
detectors in every entrance. The reason why I want key card locks is because only faculty and students
would have special key cards that would let them into the building and people without the key cards
could not enter the building. This prevents any unauthorized personal to enter the building and
endanger the faculty and students. The reason why schools need metal sectors is to make sure faculty
or students are not carrying a dangerous weapon with them. Also, the schools should bring in a Police
Officer so the kids can be educated by a person who knows about safety and protection. This will give
students a better knowledge of gun safely. Another, idea is to have a gun drive in the local community.
The reason why we should have a gun drive so people could trade in their guns for money. The reason
why this is important is because young kids are curious and adventures. They can find anything in the
house even if the parent puts stuff in a safe place. I guarantee kids will find items even though parents
thought the area was a safe place. Kids will find items like guns because they think it looks cool and
will bring them to school to show their friends. Then a kid will be injured or killed because they were
playing with the weapon during recess or gym. Therefore, a gun drive would eliminate guns from
homes because parents can not watch their kids

Essay on The Narrative Voice in Northanger Abbey by Jane...
Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen expresses the powerful narrative voice. The narrative voice that she
uses is different from other novels. Most authors try to hide their presence in their novels but Jane
Austen does not try to hide her presence. Her presence in the novel is so clear. For example, The
advantages of natural folly in a beautiful girl have been already set forth by the capital pen of sister
author, and her treatment of the subject I will only add (Austen 81). She tries not to trick her reader as
he/she reads the novel. Instead she informs the reader that the book itself is just a novel. Her purpose
is not to convince the reader and correct her story, but to understand the imperfection of language
because language does not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is telling him her version of the story, which then filtered through Lockwood s perspective. Nelly
is undependable narrator because she keeps important information about other characters and events.
Lockwood is also not a dependable narrator because he does not fully understands the circumstance
and might be misinterprets the stories that are told by Nelly.
In Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte uses Mr. Lockwood to show that language is not enough to tell
the truth and understand the other person. When Mr. Lockwood greets Heathcliff on their first
encounter, Lockwood misjudges Heathcliff. He writes, Mr. Heathcliff and I are such a suitable pair to
divide the desolation between us (Bronte 1). Also he describes Heathcliff as a capital fellow (Bronte
1).
Bronte illustrates that the truth can be manipulated rather than fixed. And it can be manipulated by
depending on who is telling the story. She points out that language is manipulated by unreliable people
like Lockwood and Nelly. Jane Austen tries to make the reader doubt her stories so that they do not act
like Catherine how she makes mistakes about people and cannot distinguish between fiction and real
life. On the other hand, Bronte tries to make the reader to find and understand the various truths and
makes the reader doubt in both written and spoken words. Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen and
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte analyze the language that fails to

Essay on The Punishments of the Medieval era
The Punishments of the Medieval Era When Shakespeare was born in 1564, Queen Elizabeth had
taken power a mere 6 years prior, and her justice system was very different from ours. In this paper, I
hope to explore some of the ways punishments were different, such as how many crimes had
individual punishments, often times depending on how severe the crime was. I will also go in depth to
one of the most infamous cases of the medieval period. Imprisonment was very rare. If you were in
jail, you were there because you were on trial, and you weren t allowed to return home. Trials were
very brief and if you were charged of a felony or treason, you weren t allowed to have a lawyer.
Unsurprisingly, trials were quick, with extremely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The chair would be continuously lowered and raised into a river, as I previously mentioned. The
Cucking stool often drew in large crowds people who would laugh at the person. People who would
be stubborn and not speak at their hearings would be forced to lie on their backs on top of a large
pointy stone, while stones would be continuously put on wooden boards on their chests until the
weight eventually crushed them. Thieves were slightly odd in the medieval times as far as they re
punishments went. Thieves could get their first sentences reduced if they had learned of the benefits of
becoming a member of the clergy. These benefits were lost if these people were repeat offenders. The
theft of farm animals, which was considered a smaller crime, they would have their left hand burned
as a permanent mark of shame. This also would occur if they had broken into another man s home, but
this man didn t feel as if his life was in danger from the break in. Repeat offenders were sentenced to
death. In addition to all of these, people who took their own lives were to buried with a stake shoved
through their graves. At the end of my look into how justice was served back in Shakespeare s time, I
ll give a brief examination of what many people think of when they hear something about Medieval
times, Torture. When John Gerad, a priest/spy, was captured by Queen Elizabeth s guard, he was spent
3 years in captivity, until finally he was taken

Maternal effects on egg investment and offspring performance in black widow spiders. Animal
Behaviour, 91, 67 73.
Q.1 The study addressed questions like what effects maternal foraging success would have on
maternal body condition, fecundity, egg investment and whether an abundance in prey for the mother
would have positive effects on offspring traits like shapes maternal body condition, fecundity and egg
investment, and that maternal prey abundance has a positive, cross generational effect on a number of
important offspring traits, for example, sibling cannibalism in black widow spiders.
Q.2 The findings of this study include the knowledge that maternal foraging success is indeed
responsible for better maternal body condition, egg sac mass, egg number, mass, size and density rate.
Some exceptions were also observed where the mothers given the high nutrition treatment made low
density eggs and some given low nutrition treatment made high density eggs, showing that these
characters are also influenced by genetic traits of the individual. Sibling cannibalism is also seen
shown to be fitness related, genetically effected trait.
Q.3 The experiment consisted of manipulating the food intake of black widow spider mothers, a high
nutrition and a low nutrition diet were used. Eighteen penultimate stage juvenile black widow spiders

Chinese Culture
According to Zimmermann (2015), Culture is the distinctive features and knowledge of a specific

Totalitarianism And The Government s Lies And Propaganda
Vu 1 Joyce Vu Mr. Jacques ENG4U1 f January 12, 2014 Totalitarianism in 1984 and We: When 2+2 =
X When the government s lies and propaganda are embedded in everyday life, how can one find the
strength to rebel? The theme of totalitarianism is prevalent in both George Orwell s 1984, and
Zamyatin Yevgeny s We. The authority ruling over the inhabitants in We, require that the entire city be
made out of glass, that names be made out of a consonant or vowel and a set of numbers. The inner
party ruling over the inhabitants in 1984, require that people use Newspeak, believe they are satisfied,
and live with a telescreen that cannot be turned off. Physical control is a large part contribution to the
success of the totalitarian governments. They focus on taking away the individuality of the person and
replace it with undying love for big brother. However all governments have a crack, a glitch that can
prove to be an achilles heel. No matter how seemingly perfect they currently are, if there is a crack,
there is a way for rebellion to occur. Just as important as it is to have physical control, it is also key to
have jurisdiction over the human mind. The people must wholeheartedly believe and love the
government. Brainwashing will help to avoid future uprisings or disputes against the state. In 1984,
the citizens of Oceania worship Big Brother where as in We, they worship The Benefactor. In both
cases, these godlike figures prove to play a crucial role in uniting the countries.

When President Bill Clinton signed the memorandum to the Secretary of Defense in 1993 to stop
homosexual prejudices regarding who can serve in the U.S. military, he did not initiate the creation of
a policy denying them that right. The policies enacted were to enforce the free rights of everyone. Just
because people have read policies the way they want to interpret them shows that the policies,
themselves, need to be amended, not repealed. Nor can the meaning behind the creation of said

Wellness visits are a vital aspect of pediatric primary care. In the course of these visits, development
assessment is performed which includes the process of mapping the performance of a child compared

An example that may help in understanding what constitutes a reasonable accommodation is the case
Canice v. Norwest Bank Iowa N.A.
In this case Peter Canice, among many other claims, accused Norwest Banks of discrimination under
the ADA for not making reasonable accommodations for his depression. In its ruling the court
reasoned that, Once a qualified individual with a disability has requested provision of a reasonable
accommodation . . . the employer must make a reasonable effort to determine the appropriate
accommodation. The evidence that Mr. Candice provided did not support this criteria and . . . because
he lacked proof that an accommodation of his disability would have allowed him to keep his job. This
is pertinent point for cases dealing reasonable accommodation. The employee still carries the burden
of showing that a particular accommodation rejected by the employer would have made the employee
qualified to perform the essential functions of the job. The court ruled in favor of Norwest.
In its terms the ADA specifies reasonable accommodation as follows: (A) making existing facilities
used by employees readily accessible to and usable by individuals with disabilities; and (B) job
restructuring, part¬ time or modified work

Divorce Impact On Divorce
The Family Law Act 1975 (cth) defines divorce as the termination of a marriage otherwise than by the
death of a party to the marriage. The concept of divorce and marriage has dramatically altered as the
values and beliefs of society has changed, starting with the abolishment of the fault divorce system in
1975, to the creation of online divorce kits by the Federal Magistrates Courts in 2004. While prior to
the Family Law Act 1975 (cth), divorce could be considered too difficult to attain, today it is
considered too easy to divorce. However, the process of marriage is seen as overcomplicated,
requiring multiple prerequisites to be considered legal. When compared to the relatively difficult
process of marriage, divorce can be considered too easy to attain, as a result impacting the lives of
unhappily married couples and their families throughout Australia.
The definition of marriage, as stated in the Marriage Act 1961 (cth), specifies that for a couple to
attain marriage, there needs to be a union
1. Of a man and a woman
2. That excludes all others
3. That is voluntarily entered into
4. For life
There are also a number of requirements for before, during and after the ceremony. It must be proven
that the betrothed couple are not ancestors or descendants and that, unless the situation is specifically
reviewed by the court, neither party is under the age of 18. On the day of the marriage, three

impose public holidays which coincide with sporting events such as the Melbourne where betting
makes up a large part of the atmosphere. Rather than being disgraced in the public eye, it is glorified
in a way. Not to mention going to football matches where betting agencies are a major sponsor and
broadcasters are more considerate about the money in their wallets than the impact of their content on
impressionable young children. Betting advertisements during televised during sporting events
normalises the act of gambling, and indices a wider audience including children under the age of 18
for whom it is illegal to gamble. This may also explain why research suggests men are at a higher risk
of developing a gambling problem as they make up a large proportion of those who attend sporting
events . Children perhaps young children who accompany their parents to sporting events are likely to

Compare And Contrast The Renaissance Art And European Art
Compare and Contrast Essay
Compare and Contrast works of art that represent the 15th Century Early Renaissance art and 16th
Century Northern European art. The artists Masaccio and Grunewald will be used to illustrate the
differences and similarities in the styles of art. Their works of art are chosen for their interpretation of
the style that was representative during these eras. Early Renaissance artists used mathematical one
point linear perspective to create illusions of depth and depicted the human body as realistic and
natural. Northern European artist used medieval mysticism and intense emotional spirituality and they
used illustrative human figures rather than realistic depictions. By understanding the corresponding
and distinctions between these two works of art we can understand why they created their artwork in
the respective style to their era.
The first work of art is a fresco titled Trinity with the Virgin Mary, John the Evangelist, and the
Donors (Holy Trinity) by artist Masaccio during the Early Renaissance c. 1425
1427/1428. The fresco is located on the wall of the Church of Santa Maria Novella in Florence,
Italy. Brunelleschi s experiments on linear perspective and architecture had an influence on
Masaccio s art.
The second work of art is an oil painting on wood panel titled Isenheim Altarpiece by artist Grunewald

In his book Racial Matters, Kenneth O Reilly presented the facts as he sees them, with little
interpretation. He delivered a sharp historical account of the unconstitutional methods the Federal
Bureau of Investigation used to weaken and destroy what it labeled to be subversive groups in defense
of its ideal of America. O Reilly saw the role J. Edgar Hoover played to be essential to the manner in
which the FBI illegally refused to protect Black lives and persecute Black organizations during the

However damaging Hoover was to the civil rights movement, our nation s number one elected official,
the president, aided him in three consecutive terms.
People must critically analyze the events which take place in America and fight against injustice when
they see it. Hoover fought against militant Black groups because they represented a threat to public
safety. However, the rise of such groups as the Black Panther Party was the direct result of the
perceived, and realistic failure of nonviolent groups, which Hoover was responsible for creating. The
FBI fed internal tensions and rivalries which made it harder for the movement to create a united front,
leaked derogatory information on activists to the media which dissuaded others from joining, and
disseminated derogatory information to federal officials which led to a lessened commitment to
protect civil rights workers (358) This obviously created many problems for the civil rights struggle.
However, the manner in which Hoover treated nonviolent and violent means of resistance was the
same. FBI officials pursued the most prominent proponents of violent resistance to White racism with
the same zeal that had characterized their pursuit of the most prominent proponent of nonviolence
(293). Thus people should have been aware of

Fan Fiction Character Appropriation
Fan fiction and character appropriation
Fan Fiction is a transformative practice of writing fiction created by fans based on existing source
work or consists of elements copied from a story world, character or setting, the original source of the
work being expanded can include any qualified material such as novels, films, comics or games. Legal
implications arise due to the contemplation whether it is an infringement of copyright as a derivative
work . Authors generally have a varied opinion on fan fiction, some downright loath the practice,
where as some consider it unimaginative yet unconcerned by it and some compliment it. The creator
of the original work rarely authorises or commissions fan fiction and it is very unlikely to receive
publishing. It has long existed as a fan practice, although since the internet s inception it has amplified
exponentially and has evolved into a much more elaborate exercise, with various classifications, style
and sub genres. The legal issues surrounding fan fiction are in dispute of whether they are derivative
works infringing Copyright Law, for these stories are usually transformative of an original

Fair use is a common defence against infringement claims, or in Australia fair dealings may similarly
constitute defence, though fair use isn t entirely secure for fan fiction, despite many maintaining its

Credit Cards Disadvantages
There are many banks in the world. They have been offering many services for their users. Among
them, one service is credit cards. They produced many kinds of credit cards such as student card,
everyday card, woman s card, visa card, master card, platinum card, gold card, business card and so
on. Credit cards are very useful in our daily life. It is an electronic payment system. It can use every
time and everywhere. It is a small thing that makes a small plastic card. We can take it easy. Therefore,
we don t need to carry a lot of money. Recent year, credit cards are very popular in Myanmar.
Although there are many advantages for using it, on the other hand, it has many disadvantages.
Nowadays, almost people are used electronic payment cards such as credit card, debit card and so on.
Credit cards are more popular than other electronic payment cards because it not requires saving
money first in the user bank. According to Vera Birukova (26/12/2017), a credit card allows you to
borrow money to pay for things. There will be a limit to how much you can borrow called your credit
limit. At the end of each month you can either pay off the full amount you owe or pay defined
minimum proportion of the bill by a due date. There are many advantages for using it because we can
buy things in another country without having to worry about local currency. We can make purchases
with it on online, can save money for transportation, and can t waste a time. Many credit cards offer
some type of insurance if your purchase is stolen. But there are many disadvantages for using it
because it can take some crimes such as fraud among cardholders. The biggest disadvantage is that
they are inviting cardholders to spend more money that they don t yet have. It is far too easy to spend
more than you can afford using a credit card. Credit cards can be stolen, as can cash. They may be
physically stolen or someone may steal your credit card number from a website, over the phone etc.

innocence. Written in 1960, Lee tells the story of Scout Finch and her older brother Jem as they
mature during the Great Depression in Maycomb County, Alabama. Scout is first shown to be an
innocent and immature child, but as the story develops, her innocent perspective changes to a new
awareness of the oppression and injustice in her society. Arthur Boo Radley is characterized as the

Scout and Jem start by being frightened by Boo because of the negative rumors they hear about him.
Jem believes that Boo is a monster and Scout describes him as malevolent phantom. It is shown that
Scout and Jem do not understand Boo by their imaginative stories and games inspired by him for
childhood fun. As the story develops, the children s obsession over seeing and communication with
Boo becomes the recognition that Boo wants to be their friend by leaving small and thoughtful gifts
for them as communication. When the knothole in the tree where Boo leaves his gifts becomes
blocked, they realize that Boo is not a mysterious phantom, but a person oppressed by his brother, who
takes away his opportunity to communicate to the children. Although Boo s only way of
communication to the children is taken away, it is shown that he continues to watch over them when
he covers Scout with a blanket without her knowing to keep her warm and mends Jem s pants. These
actions show that Boo is a respectable person and not the monster they believe him to be. When Tom
Robinson s trial happens, Scout and Jem begin to have a different understanding of their neighbor.
After the trial, Jem knows the racial injustice and prejudice in the people s actions, which helps him
realize the reasoning for how Boo lives. Jem says, I think I m beginning to understand something. I
think I m beginning to understand why Boo Radley s stayed shut up in the house all this time...It s
because he wants to stay inside (227). Jem shows that he understands that Boo does not want to come

The Cult Of Personality
The song starts with an introduction from a male voice, speaking as though he were not from earth.
The sound of the electric guitar explodes into your ears, introducing the piece as a rock song. This was
quickly followed by the sound of heavy, but simple beat that would continue throughout the song. The
singer grabs your attention with a demand that the listener look into his eyes. The verses that follow
are simple and sung clearly, I can easily imagine a large crowd singing along to it as though it were
their anthem. The entire song has a rhythmic energy running through it, making it the kind of song a
person would want to dance to. The guitar solo is a break from the steady beat that permeates the
song, with its high pitched electronic sound. As the song continues, the beat becomes faster, the guitar
more frenzied and the singer repeating the statement, I am the cult of personality , till a different male
voice closes the song. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is made clear in the title of the song, Cult of personality, which refers to a person who uses the
media available to them to create an idealized image of themselves as the hero of a population. The
singer mentions the names of four great leaders; namely Mussolini, Joseph Stalin, John F. Kennedy
and Mahatma Ghandi. The juxtaposition of Mussolini and Joseph Stalin s names with John F.
Kennedy and Mahatma Ghandi s names shows that The Cult of Personality can be used by all types of
people. It is a phenomena that can be used to gain support for good or bad intentions. The singer
asserts that any leader who goes against the agenda of their time and place is a dead leader, when he
sings, when a leader speaks that leader dies . This could be a reference to Malcom X, who was killed
because he led African Americans to oppose the discriminatory laws in the USA at the

Cicero s In Catilinam First Speech Translation
Chapter I. 1. I ask you, Catiline, how far will you abuse our patience? For how much longer still will
that madness of yours mock us? To what limit will that unrestrained audacity of yours display itself?
Hasn t the nightly garrison on the Palatine moved you at all, nor the patrols of the city, nor the fear of
the people, nor the gatherings of all good men, nor this most fortified place for holding the senate, nor
the faces and expressions of these men? Do you not realize that your plans lie exposed? Do you not
see that your conspiracy is already being kept restricted by the knowledge of all these men? Which of
us do you think does not know what you did last night, what you did the night before, where you were,
whom you assembled and what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Surely you cannot deny that on that very day, entrapped by my guards by my diligence you were not
able to make a move against the republic, when you were saying on the departure of the rest that,
nevertheless, you were content with the slaughter of us, who had stayed behind. 8. What? When you
were confident that you would seize Praeneste on the very first of November with a night attack, did
you realize that that settlement on my order had been fortified with my garrisons, guards and patrols?
You do nothing, you contrive nothing, you think nothing. Which I only don t hear, but also see and
clearly understand. Chapter IV. Finally, review with me that night before last; now you will understand
that I am much more keenly vigilant towards the safety of the republic than you (are) towards its
destruction. I assert that you, on the night before last, went to the sicklemaker street I won t be vague
into the house of Marcus Laeca; that there assembled at that place several companions of the same
criminal madness. Surely you don t dare to deny it? Why are you silent? I shall prove you wrong, if
you do deny it. For I see that there are here in the senate certain men who were together with you. 9.
Oh immortal gods! Where in the world are we? In what city do we live? What republic do we have?
There are here, here in our number, senators, in this the most sacred and

  • 2. Symbolism In August Wilson s Fences Fences, by August Wilson, takes place in the 1950 s a time that was extremely difficult for many African Americans. In my inspirational dramatic moment, Troy tells the story of his encounter with the devil: Troy is unable to receive credit on a good deal of furniture, that he needs, due to his skin color. According to Troy, a white man knocks on his door to offer higher priced furniture in exchange for monthly payments. As his last resort, Troy accepts the deal, having to pay $10 to the man in the beginning of every month until he pays off the furniture. The man was not seen again, persuading Troy that the man was the devil. (15). The symbolism of the devil in Troy s story heavily deepens the audience s understanding of the major theme of ... • 3. The Tragedy Of The Salem Witchcraft Trials The Salem witchcraft trials provide a great insight into the evolution of early evidence presented in court and the impact public ideology can have on such evidence. From January of 1692 to May of 1693, hundreds were accused, nineteen men and women were hanged, and one was pressed to death by stones. Most haunting of all, all of those convicted were found guilty through the presentation of spectral evidence. In order to fully understand the tragedy of these trials, we must take many factors into account. To begin, it should be noted that accusations of witchcraft were not unheard of at the time. In fact, witchcraft prosecutions in England peaked toward the end of the sixteenth century, with a lesser number still occurring in the first half of the seventeenth century. However, their most notable difference from the Salem witchcraft trials is the fact that English cases were rarely taken to court. This was because the laws criminalizing witchcraft did not align with folk ideas. For instance, the courts required that both the pact with the Devil and real harm be established. Meanwhile, folk ideas simply required one to establish involvement with the Devil. Yet, in both England and Salem, unexplained illness, particularly of children, led to suspicions of witchcraft. In New England cases of witchcraft around the first half of the seventeenth century, those accused were most often acquitted to preserve the stability of society. Puritans deeply valued the idea of a stable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Ellen Grigsby 4 Types Of Power Analysis Ellen Grigsby defines power as an ability to influence an event or outcome that allows the agent exercising power to achieve an objective and/or influence another agent to act in a manner in which the second agent, on its own, would not choose to act. Power is used in nearly every facet of life, not only politics. Power can be inactive, also known as latent. This would or active, also known as manifest. There are four different types of power including force, persuasion, manipulation, and exchange. Each of these types have their own ethical grey areas; however, on a scale of moral to immoral, persuasion and manipulation, respectively, would fall on either ends of the spectrum. Grigsby lists the first type of power as force, defining it as, the exercise of power by physical means. This type is most often what people think of as exercise of power. This is because force is a relatively cheap. Force is not limited to physical violence; it can include physical sabotage as well. Vikoz Enterprises Inc. sends collection and transport vehicles to plants and areas across the U.S. and Canada. Because of their active effort to collect plastic, Vikoz is the largest plastic recycler in the U.S. and Canada (12) Biggest types of recycled plastic There are 7 standard recycling codes for plastic, shown with a triangular chasing arrow symbol with a number inside as pictured in figure 2, in the appendix. The first plastic is PET/PETE, Polyethylene Terephthalate. PET is used in most water and soda bottles and also in some packaging. PET is susceptible to leaching and bacterial growth, so it should not be reused, but it is easily be recycled. High Density Polyethylene, HDPE, is a stiff plastic that is often used to make products such as milk jugs, oil bottles, toys, and plastic bags. HDPE is also very durable, and often used for outdoor furniture and other products that require weather resistance and durability. HDPE is a very safe plastic, and is easily recycled for secondary uses or reused. PVC or Polyvinyl Chloride is a soft flexible plastic that is used for pipes, computer cable sheaths, children and pet toys and packaging. PVC is also resistant to outdoor exposer and is used to make numerous outdoor products. Only about 1% of PVC is recycled. PVC leaches numerous toxins during its lifetime, and therefore should not be reused. Additionally, burning PVC releases many hazardous chemicals including chlorine, which is deadly. Low Density Polyethylene, LDPE, is commonly used to make packaging, bottles and grocery bags. LDPE is generally safe to reuse, but it is not commonly recycled. Few places recycle LDPE, and recycled LDPE is used for secondary uses, such as plastic lumber, landscaping boards, and floor tiles. Polypropylene, PP, is a lightweight plastic that is both tough and heat resistant. PP is used for food packaging, disposable diapers, bottle caps, and packing tape. I feel that Netflix s offering of paid leave for new mothers or fathers for an entire year after the baby s birth is especially generous because most companies only offer a few months of maternity leave and is not necessarily paid, and many companies offer a couple weeks of paternity leave paid if any at all. Microsoft was especially generous when they nearly doubled their paid leave to twenty weeks for women who had just given birth. I do agree that there is contradictory signaling going on to a certain extent because if workers of Yahoo see their boss not taking the leave the company offers the other workers do not want to disappoint so they will not use the leave either. On the other hand, everyone lives their own life and should make decisions that will best benefit them and their family and not base it off someone else. The effect is claustrophobic but also highly instructive as the reader walks beside Stephen on his journey of self discovery. Stephen starts as an object Baby Tuckoo in his father s story of his early years and is thus without his own identity. Later, at Clongowes, he is either gripped with embarrassment as he fails to connect with his peers or speechless at a family Christmas dinner as debate and anger rages around him. He is isolated, associating only with the sounds of words (belt, iss, suck) and other stimuli. He doesn t understand the schoolboy argot and his consequent victimisation is all too predictable as his peers react with typical schoolboy nastiness to a boy who doesn t fit in. In protesting his palm whipping, however Stephen not only wins back the respect of his peers but also performs his first act of rebellion or independence. As a young boy, this apartness appears too real and solid to be something he just grows out of or learns to subsume and he turns to literature as a means of escape. • 12. William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet In Romeo and Juliet, love is depicted in several ways. Both Luhrman and Shakespeare represent love in different ways in different contexts to both the Elizabethan era and the contemporary audience. Both the original and later manifestations of the text are valued because they both communicate to the audience on the values of love and society by employing a variety of devices. The central subject dealt within Romeo and Juliet is the subject of love. William Shakespeare and Baz Luhrman thus represent love to their audience beyond the distinct ideas of love as simple sentiments. This also reveals to the audience an empathy that the two star crossed lovers were made fore each other. Luhrman achieves this via the use of smitten, longing looks, the close up shots, and the music of Des ree (Kissing You). Through Scene 5, Romeo continues to show himself as a hopeless romantic besotted with beautiful girls. His language indicates that he thinks of love and commitment in terms of sight: Did my heart love till now? Forswear it sight! For I ne er saw true beauty till this night , as he says at his first glimpse of Juliet. This statement recalls Scene 2, in which he spoke of the devout religion of mine eye and said that if his eyes were heretical enough o consider another girl more beautiful than his Rosaline, his tears would turn to fire and burn at stake. However, as soon as he lays his eyes on Juliet, his devotion to the apparently less beautiful Rosaline disappears and a new religion is found for Romeo. Shakespeare thus portrays Romeo and his love as an infatuation. This infatuation is evident in how instantaneously Romeo falls out of love with Rosaline and into love with Juliet. At one stage, Rosaline was the precious treasure of his eyesight , yet Romeo s embodiment of perfection was, a few scenes later, his notion of defectiveness. This therefore reveals to the audience the instantaneous and reckless path of the two lovers, as well as the fickleness of adolescent love , diminishing at the sight of ... • 13. Why Are We Safe In Schools Essay 3. How to Make Schools Safe To begin with, the first thing I will do to make schools safer is to install key card locks and metal detectors in every entrance. The reason why I want key card locks is because only faculty and students would have special key cards that would let them into the building and people without the key cards could not enter the building. This prevents any unauthorized personal to enter the building and endanger the faculty and students. The reason why schools need metal sectors is to make sure faculty or students are not carrying a dangerous weapon with them. Also, the schools should bring in a Police Officer so the kids can be educated by a person who knows about safety and protection. This will give students a better knowledge of gun safely. Another, idea is to have a gun drive in the local community. The reason why we should have a gun drive so people could trade in their guns for money. The reason why this is important is because young kids are curious and adventures. They can find anything in the house even if the parent puts stuff in a safe place. I guarantee kids will find items even though parents thought the area was a safe place. Kids will find items like guns because they think it looks cool and will bring them to school to show their friends. Then a kid will be injured or killed because they were playing with the weapon during recess or gym. Therefore, a gun drive would eliminate guns from homes because parents can not watch their kids ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The theme of totalitarianism is prevalent in both George Orwell s 1984, and Zamyatin Yevgeny s We. The authority ruling over the inhabitants in We, require that the entire city be made out of glass, that names be made out of a consonant or vowel and a set of numbers. The inner party ruling over the inhabitants in 1984, require that people use Newspeak, believe they are satisfied, and live with a telescreen that cannot be turned off. Physical control is a large part contribution to the success of the totalitarian governments. They focus on taking away the individuality of the person and replace it with undying love for big brother. However all governments have a crack, a glitch that can prove to be an achilles heel. No matter how seemingly perfect they currently are, if there is a crack, there is a way for rebellion to occur. Just as important as it is to have physical control, it is also key to have jurisdiction over the human mind. The people must wholeheartedly believe and love the government. Don T Tell Policy When President Bill Clinton signed the memorandum to the Secretary of Defense in 1993 to stop homosexual prejudices regarding who can serve in the U.S. military, he did not initiate the creation of a policy denying them that right. Just because people have read policies the way they want to interpret them shows that the policies, themselves, need to be amended, not repealed. Nor can the meaning behind the creation of said policies be let go. An example that may help in understanding what constitutes a reasonable accommodation is the case Canice v. Norwest Bank Iowa N.A. In this case Peter Canice, among many other claims, accused Norwest Banks of discrimination under the ADA for not making reasonable accommodations for his depression. In its ruling the court reasoned that, Once a qualified individual with a disability has requested provision of a reasonable accommodation . . . the employer must make a reasonable effort to determine the appropriate accommodation. The evidence that Mr. Candice provided did not support this criteria and . . . because he lacked proof that an accommodation of his disability would have allowed him to keep his job. This is pertinent point for cases dealing reasonable accommodation. The employee still carries the burden of showing that a particular accommodation rejected by the employer would have made the employee qualified to perform the essential functions of the job. The concept of divorce and marriage has dramatically altered as the values and beliefs of society has changed, starting with the abolishment of the fault divorce system in 1975, to the creation of online divorce kits by the Federal Magistrates Courts in 2004. The artists Masaccio and Grunewald will be used to illustrate the differences and similarities in the styles of art. Their works of art are chosen for their interpretation of the style that was representative during these eras. Early Renaissance artists used mathematical one point linear perspective to create illusions of depth and depicted the human body as realistic and natural. People must critically analyze the events which take place in America and fight against injustice when they see it. However, the rise of such groups as the Black Panther Party was the direct result of the perceived, and realistic failure of nonviolent groups, which Hoover was responsible for creating. The FBI fed internal tensions and rivalries which made it harder for the movement to create a united front, leaked derogatory information on activists to the media which dissuaded others from joining, and disseminated derogatory information to federal officials which led to a lessened commitment to protect civil rights workers (358) This obviously created many problems for the civil rights struggle. However, the manner in which Hoover treated nonviolent and violent means of resistance was the same.
