Describe How Current Health and Safety Legislation,...
1) Describe how current health and safety legislation, policies and procedures are implemented in the

safety of both their employees, and others who come into contact with the school e.g pupils, support
workers and parents. These pieces of legislation are: The Health and Safety at Work, etc Act 1974 This
act places the responsibility of ensuring the health and safety and welfare of employees, with the
employer. The main ways that this is usually implemented in a school setting are: ensuring that there

Social Class Separation In Alice Monroe s How I Met My...
In Alice Monroe s story How I Met My Husband the most obvious theme is the social class separation
of farmers housewives and regular housewives. The theme of social class separation is showed in
many ways, by the level of education, the level of respect from others, and the level of respect in
themselves. Edie can also see simple things that Mrs. Peebles can not.
All throughout the story people treat Edie differently because of what social class she is in. In
paragraph 165 Edie is speaking about how she took a cake to Chris when Loretta says It s not they
mean harm so much, as they re ignorant. Edie did nothing more than take a cake to someone to Loretta
s knowledge and she is called ignorant for not getting permission to make a cake or see Chris. This
helps further the idea of separation by showing that Edie can t even do a simple thing like bake or talk
to someone without being accused of being a whore or criminal. ... Show more content on

idea of class separation because she was expected to go into something she didn t have to do. It was
expected of her to help others in some manner, and now she is being basically a slave to a family
where she has to be around people who look down on her. This helps prove the theme by describing
that she was forced to go to school, a place she didn t want to be, and then forced to live with strangers

Irving Washington s Rip Van Winkle
Irving Washington s Rip Van Winkle is one of the most famous and acclaimed works as well as one of
Irving s biggest successes. Irving wrote it after the American Revolution and during that time is when
America s society was still developing and becoming it s a government of its own. This short story
shows how a new, thriving America had gained freedom, but then that freedom came with a price as it
meant that the newly freed country would eventually have had to struggle to establish its own identity.
In the story, Irving actually represented these feelings of uncertainly through the titular Rip Van
Winkle.
The story takes place in a setting in a colonial America and when it was still being ruled by Britain;
Rip Van Winkle, while he was a good man he had his own boredom and problems that he did not deal
with, including a nagging wife. This all changed when he fell asleep for 20 years and awoke to the
same surroundings only everything about it had changed, from his home to the buildings, to the people
and to the whole culture he once knew. Everything around him is new, nothing he knew before was
there and he was almost like a fish out of water; his village was altered as the people were now
different and with different mannerisms and the America he once knew had been freed from Britain
(Irving, pg. 36). Even the entire disposition of the village was different since it no longer had the
accustomed phlegm and drowsy tranquility and was much busier and lively (Irving, pg.

One among the other industries is health care industry. The healthcare industry in India is considered

Western countries. The cost of surgery in India is one tenth of that in the US or Western Europe [1].
The tremendous growth of the health care industry is due to its coverage, range of services offered and

Paul Dunbar Sympathy Summary
In Sympathy, Paul Dunbar illustrates emotions, happiness, and freedom for the bird from his cage. The
misfortune of the bird trapped in his cage seems like an eternity darkness. For example, the energy of
nature depicts the bird s connection with the universe. There are many descriptive details regarding the
essence of the earth such as relating the bird s desire for peace. In Sympathy, Dunbar introduces the
poem with an artistic formation of understanding the bird s soul and how his freedom strengthens
independence: When the first bird sings and the first bud opes, / And the faint perfume from its chalice
steals / I know what the caged bird feels! (5 7). The river is a symbol of harmony and the bars

United States and the northwestern part of Mexico, especially the Sinaloan thornscrub, western
Arizona, southeastern California, southern Nevada and southwestern Utah. Desert tortoise inhabits
areas covered with creosote bushes, rocky canyons, semi arid grasslands and hillsides. It usually lives
on the altitude of 1000 to 3000 feet, but it can survive even on the elevation of 5000 feet. Some even
live in Death Valley. No other type of tortoise faces the same kind of extreme conditions due to habitat
that the desert tortoise does. The extremely high and low temperatures force the desert tortoise to

during the hottest times of the day in the summer and hibernates (sleeps underground in its burrow)

A Summary Of Finding Nemo
Watched by many, the movie Finding Nemo is a good movie for explaining Vygotsky s theories
because there is a wide variety of characters adults, children and even teachers. The adult characters in
the movie Finding Nemo portray the adolescence developmental stages, as explained by Vygotsky.
Many more of Vygotsky s theories are found in the movie. Some include the zone of proximal
development, egocentric speech, scaffolding, and scientific and spontaneous concepts.
Both being clown fish, Nemo and Marlin live in the ocean, in the anemone. Marlin is Nemo s father
who is viewed as being overprotective towards Nemo. Marlin portrays the characteristic of being
overprotective because while Nemo was in the egg as a baby, one of his fins was damaged. Nemo,
tired of his overprotective father decides that he wants to prove himself by swimming into the open
ocean. However, things do not turn out very well and Nemo is captured by a scuba diver. Parenting
instinct kick in, and Marlin immediately swims after the boat that is now carrying Nemo. Marlin
eventually loses sight of the boat, however throughout the duration of the movie, he continues to look

Analysis Of Girl By Jamaica Kincaid
Society has created in their minds the way a woman is supposed to act and the things they are allowed
to do. In Jamaica Kincaid s Girl , we see a young woman being forced to live by the likeness of the
society in which she dwells. Although this is not the life she wants to live, she has no other choice
than to become the woman she was made to be.
Throughout time the relationship between mothers and daughters have changed. Many mothers hold
on to the old fashioned opinion of what a woman should be and many older women feel that a women
s true role in life is to be domesticated. This idea of a woman s place in the home is being reinforced
throughout Kincaid s short story. The mother in the story is telling her young daughter the ways things
should be done. Wash the white clothes on Monday and put them on the stone heap; wash the colored
clothes on Tuesday and put them on the clothesline to dry. She further goes on to describe other
household chores and how they should be correctly done. This is how you sweep a corner. She tells
her daughter how to set a table for different meals, how to cook things, and even how to pick out
bread. Unfortunately, though, the story doesn t tell a woman how to have a successful career, to go to
college, or how to work outside of the home. In those days women were expected to stay at home
while their husband s go out to work and make all the money. Even if they tried, they were not
allowed to go outside the way society made them to be and this mother is trying to raise her young
daughter the same way she was raised which is to be a house wife.
Even though the girl says nothing in the story, she is building resentment towards her mother because
she feels that she should be allowed to make her own decision on whether to be domesticated.
Throughout the story never did the mother once stop to get her daughter s input on the issues, she just
simply tells her daughter that she has no other choice but to be domesticated and there is no way of
changing it. She tells the daughter how to act, how to dress, how to talk, and even how to walk.

Great Expectations Social Class Analysis
Social status and money play a big role in our society today. This tends to affect how many are treated.
For example, the wealthy tend to get more recognition, due to their extreme amount of money and the
things they have. Whereas the lower class tends to get a bad reputation of being known as uneducated,
poor and common. This is well applied to many of the characters in the book Great Expectations. In
fact, social class and money determine how characters in Great Expectations interact amongst each
other. When some of these characters experience a class that they are unfamiliar with, expecting great
things, they are oblivious to how they treat their peers. In the beginning of the book, we meet Pip and
are introduced to his perspective of life. Pip lives with his older sister, Mrs. Joe, and her husband, Joe
Gargery. They could be described as belonging to the lower end of the social class. ...Mrs. Joe
Gargery, who married a blacksmith (Dickens 1). Later on, as Pip evolves, he is hurt when he gets
called common by Estella. This changes Pip s perspective of himself and leads him to wanting to be
known as uncommon. When Pip later becomes wealthy, he changes into someone he is not. He begins
to strongly mistreat others, based on the contrast of social class between the different characters.
Biddy is one of the many characters influenced by social class. Have you ever considered that he may
be proud (Dickens 116). Biddy becomes angered at the result of Pip s sudden change

Sharks
What do you think of when you hear the word Shark ? Do you think of the lion of the ocean or
perhaps God s perfect predator/scavenger? Perhaps you think of the movie JAWS ? Most people will
think of the movie JAWS and think killer, attacker, and predator. However, are sharks really preying
on humans? I view sharks as God s perfect predator and scavenger. Sharks, like lions, weed out the
sick and slow fish to keep the population strong. They also scavenge on the bottom of the ocean any
carcasses that settle there. The attacks on humans are more likely the shark tasting to see if the

Both these sharks feed on fish and the Great White is also known to feed on larger prey. The Great
White Sharks have been known to attack humans swimming and surfing in the seas. The Tiger Shark
is approximately 4.5 meters long and has a reputation for eating a wide range of animals and even
inanimate objects. They have found license plates in the stomach of a Tiger Shark. Because of its
discernment regarding food, this shark is one of the most dangerous ones for human attacks. The Sand
Tiger Shark, not to be confused with the Tiger Shark, even though large, is relatively peaceful and will
only attack if provoked. The Nurse Shark will reach approximately 4.3 meters and favor shallow
temperate waters. The Blue Shark prefers the deep, cooler waters of the tropical and temperate oceans.
They can give birth to large litters from 25 to 100 pups at one time. The Mako Shark vary in length
between 2.7 to 4.5 meters. These sharks are in the same family as the Great White Sharks so they can
be fairly aggressive. The most aggressive shark is the Bull Shark. This shark is known as being
unpredictable and aggressive even towards humans. Many of the attacks and fatalities recorded each

Introduction. The Importance Of Communication Is The Needed
Introduction
The importance of communication is the needed basis in nursing practice. Communication is often
dependent on the verbal and nonverbal communication (Marshall Stevens, 2015). Also behavioural
along with speech aspects, skilled transfer with receiving of the nurse patient information starts
productive relationships or defiantly, it develops significant repercussions if used in an improper way.
This essay will converse the importance of verbal with non verbal communication in establishing and
maintaining a therapeutic relationship between a nurse and patient. In this case, a therapeutic
relationship is one which is founded on mutual trust as well as respect, the cultivation of hope and
faith, being kind towards each other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without a doubt, the verbal communication is very critical in the development of a therapeutic nurse
patient relationship bringing about respect, understanding, sincerity as well as empathy (Marshall
Stevens, 2015).
Non verbal communication
Although it is clear that verbal communication establishes a nurse patient relationship, the non verbal
communication includes the best part of an interpersonal relationship between the two parties. Both
communications have equal importance, but studies show that non verbal aspect of communication is
more efficient than the verbal communication. There are non verbal actions that are seen to be
indispensable in the nursing care, smiling, eye gaze, body position and head nodding; these actions are
well known as body language (DeWit O Neill,2014). It is through cautious deliberation of the
nonverbal actions that nurses are in a position to gain a broad sight to the patient s emotional needs
with their experiences.
For a nurse to show empathy and warm, they ought to make eye contacts with the patients.
Nevertheless, eye contact is a different exemption in non verbal communication. It exposes the hidden
with deep feelings which can never be articulated in any other way which might work out during the
nurse patient connection. For example, Asian and Latin societies, looking people in the eye shows
disrespect while in western culture it

June In Erdrich s Love Medicine
June is an alcoholic who cannot manage to keep a job. She tried everything, from beautician to
secretary, however everything she tried fell through (9). She has a problem with alcohol. Her sisters
blame her death on her drinking problem, saying she probably drank too much (9). Despite these
negative traits, Erdrich develops her character into a multi dimensional portrait by allowing people to
have varying views on June. In fact the novel is split into many perspectives, which challenges the
reader to consider everything from multiple viewpoints. Her niece Albertine remembers her as so
sharp and determined (9). Albertine s view of June presents her in a different light, which enables the

In order to convey the trait of poverty, Erdrich employs the use of imagery, even the setting reflects
their impoverished state. In the beginning of the novel, the road leading towards the reservation is
described as having ruts and holes (11). The surrounding land was a dull tan the dry ditches, the dying
crops (11). Erdrich s visual imagery gives the reader a mental image of a desolate environment. In
addition, Erdrich references dust twice on page eleven, giving the impression of the prairies during the
dustbowl, which occurred during the 1930 s when the world was going through the Great Depression,
allowing the reader to subconsciously connect the environment of the reservation as poor, neglected
and bleak. The grim environment creates sympathy for the female characters, many of whom live on
the reservation. In addition, there is the alliteration of the letter d . This emphasises the poverty in
which these characters live in by bringing attention to the dull , dry and dying environment of the
reservations. Despite the despondent surroundings, Erdrich s poetic style pushes the reader to consider
this environment as a home, rather than merely a disgusting

As the world s oldest living leader, you might think Mugabe has earned a nice party, but his country is

Most Americans don t live in a world where vote rigging, mass emigration, accusations of human
rights abuses and economic decline have been the standard for the last 36 years, and this year 75
percent of their maize crop was destroyed by drought. Maize is the staple food crop for the country.
Mugabe said that he has applied for aid and that no one would starve, but then he added that he would
not accept the aid if the country had to accept gay rights to get it. If aid, as I understand, is to be given
on the basis that we accept the principle of gay marriages, then let that aid stay where it is. We don t

In addition to the drought, Zimbabwe suffers from hyper inflation as a result of Mugabe s reforms . He

Because of recent emphasis on standardized evaluation and testing, the learning environment created
within public schools has shifted its focus toward the test and away from the student. This focus on the

because of the belief, that the arts, offer the students nothing more than play time and cannot directly

The curriculum that teachers offer, helps children scaffold their learning experiences. This means that

Abina And The Important Men Summary
Book Review of Abina and the Important Men: A Graphic History History is not static, it is ever
changing and evolving. As time goes on history changes because of new discoveries that alter the way
things have been and shed new light on what had been considered true. In Abina and the Important
Men: A Graphic History historian Trevor Getz introduces a new voice into the story of British
controlled West Africa in the late nineteenth century. Getz and Liz Clarke, an illustrator, bring forth
the story of Abina, a young West African woman, who was wrongfully enslaved and took her case to
court. The book mixes history with graphic art and presents a new and interesting at a part of history
that is not very well known. Overall Getz recreates the story of Abina to show how history is
constantly adapting as more and more stories are being unearthed and heard. Abina and the Important
Men combines graphic illustrations with real history to create a contemporary book that is both
compelling and well informed. The book is split into five different sections; the graphic ... Show more

Through the graphic illustrations Abina story is described in detail. Though the story is interesting and
admirable, it seems to be exaggerated in many ways. In the book Abina is a young woman, probably
around the age of twelve, though this is implied, Getz seems to create a strong young woman who is
sure of herself and of who she is. This is not to say that the story is invalid, but rather that Getz s own
wishes for the woman Abina was carried over into his history. As with most books, the history is
biased. Throughout the first section of the book Getz s own feelings and ideas about the story are
transferred into the story of Abina. This is even more apparent at the end of the graphic narrative
where Getz himself appears, telling the reader that new history can always be found and no voice is
ever too

Computer Graphics
Computer graphics are graphics created using computers and, more generally, the representation and
manipulation of image data by a computer. The development of computer graphics has made
computers easier to interact with, and better for understanding and interpreting many types of data.
Developments in computer graphics have had a profound impact on many types of media and have
revolutionized animation, movies and the video game industry.
Overview
The term computer graphics has been used in a broad sense to describe almost everything on
computers that is not text or sound . Typically, the term computer graphics refers to several different
things:

Another example is that Sutherland s software modeled objects not just a picture of objects. In other
words, with a model of a car, one could change the size of the tires without affecting the rest of the
car. It could stretch the body of the car without deforming the tires.
These early computer graphics were vector graphics, composed of thin lines whereas modern day
graphics are Raster based using pixels.
Further 1960s developments
Also in 1961 another student at MIT, Steve Russell, created the first video game, Spacewar. Written
for the DEC PDP 1, Spacewar was an instant success and copies started flowing to other PDP 1
owners and eventually even DEC got a copy. The engineers at DEC used it as a diagnostic program on
every new PDP 1 before shipping it. The sales force picked up on this quickly enough and when
installing new units, would run the world s first video game for their new customers.
E. E. Zajac, a scientist at Bell Telephone Laboratory (BTL), created a film called Simulation of a two
giro gravity attitude control system in 1963.[5] In this computer generated film, Zajac showed how the
attitude of a satellite could be altered as it orbits the Earth. He created the animation on an IBM 7090
mainframe computer. Also at BTL, Ken Knowlton, Frank Sindon and Michael Noll started working in
the computer graphics field. Sindon created a film called Force, Mass and Motion illustrating Newton

Stop And Frisk, Automobile Searches, And Border And...
Though the Fourth Amendment can lay the foundation of the laws of search and seizures and warrants,
there are still many controversies as to what is classified as a violation of an individual s Fourth
Amendment rights. However, the wording of the Fourth Amendment can be confusing as different
individuals interpret privacy in various ways. Terms that may be interpreted differently in the Fourth
Amendment can include: 1) right of privacy, 2) search, 3) seizure, 4) arrest, and 5) reasonableness.
This paper will examine how each term relates to the practice of stop and frisk, automobile searches,
and border and regulatory searches. The rights of privacy are described to be personal belongings or
home. As defined in Merriam Webster (2015), the right to privacy is the legal right of a person to have
reasonable privacy whereas their private affairs are not made known, or their likeness to be made
public in regards to that person s habits, mode of living, and occupation. Individuals may call upon
their rights of privacy when they believe that those rights have been violated. Situations like this may
occur when an officer searches an individuals property, or their person when performing a stop and
frisk. However the fact remains that when individuals are guilty of violating any law, those rights are
then diminished to a degree. When performing any search and seizure, law enforcement must have a
warrant. Situations when a warrant is not needed would then fall under the Good Faith

The Implication Of Ecological Thought For Social Welfare

In the article by Tony Fitzpatrick The implication of ecological thought for social welfare brings forth
the argument of Green social policy that examines how social policies could lead to sustainability. One
policy that Fitzpatrick introduces is Basic Income plan as a possible strategy for sustainability and the
well being of the citizens of a country. In this paper, I will expand of the social policy idea of Basic
Income plan and suggest that if implemented in the United States, it will alleviate inequality and fix
the issues within the current welfare programs.

Everything is unsure in our life. We don t know what will be there in the future. We all are taking risk

The Martillion
The Silmarillion is an epic high fantasy novel written by the English author J.R.R Tolkien, but
published by his son, Christopher Tolkien. Written in order to provide some historical background to
Tolkien s previous novels, The Silmarillion has transcended that quality, and went on to rival both the
hobbit and even The Lord of the Rings in terms of storytelling. It is considerably longer than The
Hobbit but shorter than LOTR. It tells of the primary happenings of the First Age, contrary to LOTR
and the hobbit, set in the Third Age. This time, Sauron was just a lieutenant of Melkor, an even worse
and powerful villain, the source of evil on Earth.
Ever since it became available in 1977, The Silmarillion was a stunning story. The adventures of

history complete its story in a wonderful and satisfying way.
Is this the best fantasy book ever written? In my opinion, almost. It is bettered only by LOTR by a
small amount.
In conclusion, this book is spectacular. It belongs with LOTR in the bookshelf of classics. Tolkien s
literary genius and the brilliant editing of Christopher Tolkien has carried this book a long way,
concluding the first age with the War of Wrath and several other conclusions to several chapters, and
deserves to be reread after the first reading. It may be difficult to read, but it is

Philip Zimbardo Heroism Essay
What is a Hero? In the climax of a movie, the main character s best friend pushes the villain out of
harm s way and tragically perishes in their place. This cliche sacrifice is often what people think of
when picturing heroism. However, most modern heroes are not movie stars, instead they are ordinary
people, as stated by Philip Zimbardo in a speech on heroism. In the same speech he identifies
characteristics of and defines heroes. A modern hero performs heroic acts knowing of the sacrifice and
as a service to those in need. Heroes are people who sacrifice for others in need. Zimbardo uses this
trait as one of the defining characteristics of heroism, explaining a heroic act is one performed with

Short-Term Memory Loss in Finding Nemo s Dori
The beloved Disney movie Finding Nemo features both a colorful underwater landscape and a
psychologically diverse cast of characters. From the obsessive Bubbles (a fish obsessed with bubbles)
and Gurgle (the germophobic fish at the dentists office), to the shark trio that refuses to eat fish, and
the confused Deb, who thinks her reflection is actually her twin sister, Flo, most of the characters in
the movie seem to exhibit some sort of quirky condition. Nemo himself has a physical disability (his
lucky fin ) that he learns to overcome in order to develop self confidence. Marlin also exhibits anxiety
and trust issues, which he overcomes throughout the course of the movie. One of the main characters,
Dory, has a specific disability that she must learn to adapt to in order to complete her journey: short
term memory loss. Dory is perhaps the most beloved character in Finding Nemo because she has such
a big heart and radiates optimism despite (and possibly because of) her struggles with short term
memory loss. When we first meet Dory, she clumsily swims into a frantic Marlin, who is searching for
his recently lost son. Dory agrees to help him look, but while leading Marlin to where she last saw a
boat, she forgets what she was doing and mistakes Marlin for a stalker, quickly becoming defensive,
much to Marlin s confusion. Luckily she understands and explains to him that she has a condition
called short term memory loss, which she claims runs in her family

What Is The Reflection Of The Private Life Of Henry Viii
The goal of The Private Life of Henry VIII was to show King Henry s life behind closed doors. As
king, Henry needed to put on a very masculine, tough, and stern image to protect his people, but
behind the scenes, he was a hopeless romantic searching for someone to rule with. He hides his soft
side from everyone in the kingdom, which the movie accurately shows. At first, the movie portrays
Henry in a negative light. He seems very evil: killing one wife and immediately marrying the next. He
is short with his courts people and comes off profoundly uncultured. At his meals, he devours his food
and throws the bones on the floor. He is constantly needing to be cleaned up after and watched. Even
though he shows this ignorant side to everyone else, he secretly cares about his image and how he
acts. He goes to get his beard trimmed and comes down his hair before he talks to a woman he is
interested in. When he talks to Catherine Howard, his fifth wife, he knocks on the door before coming
in. He talks sweetly to her and isn t short with her. Although he portrayed this tough guy with the
kingdom, he was a teddy bear at heart hoping for love and affection. Henry didn t always want an
everlasting love. Jane Seymour s (his third wife), life was hardly even shown. The movie showed
when the maids were preparing the bed for their wedding night and not much else. Henry had an
appetite for sex and didn t really care about the woman herself. He even makes a comment saying, If

My Worldview On Helping Others And Poverty
This paper discusses who I am and how I have become the person I am today through different
cultural experiences and my worldview on helping others and poverty. What makes me difference
from other people, why Social Work interests me and the criteria to be a fit and proper Social Worker.
The word culture can mean numerous things to different people around the world. Most of us are who
we are today because of the different cultures we have been exposed to over the years through,
friends, family and community to name a few. A brief definition of the word culture means the total of
the inherited ideas, beliefs, values, and knowledge, which constitute the shared bases of social action
(Culture, 2012). Many of us would share a belief and/or view on situations based on our culture and
what we have been exposed to. For example, I learnt my cultural values and idea through family, but
because I left home at a young age, I learnt different ideas and beliefs through friends, community,
work and study. As I became older, these changed, because of marriage, new country and had a family
of my own. Therefore, my cultural experiences kept changing with me, for example, my study culture
, turned into primary school and kindy . Now I am a mother, I try and instil some of that into my
children as well as allowing them to create their own beliefs and values through their own culture, like
school and recreational activities.

He said he loved me , I woke up without any clothes on, I couldn t remember , I thought we were

long been taken advantage of for men s sexual pleasure, it is the same in every country, not just in the
Philippines. Women have been fighting all throughout their history to gain equality, to rise from
oppression, to release themselves from male domination, that fight is still ongoing. There is a

a sociologist at Michigan State University, rape is forced and unwanted intercourse, where sexual
assault is used as a power and sex is a method (Mousseau, 2006. p. 1). Most rapes are committed not
by strangers, but by men known to women, perhaps someone they have gone out with or are
supposedly their friends. It can be someone she just met or even her fiancé, but often it is an attempt to
assert power or anger. A study by the National Center for the Preventive and Control rape claims
ninety percent of rapes are never reported. In those that are reported, sixty percent knew their
assailants. Of these, women fifteen to twenty five are majority of the victims. Alcohol and drugs
sometimes play a significant factor, especially in date rape or acquaintance rape cases (Mousseau,

Hindus, Buddhists and Jews, Kipling fell in love with the country and its culture. However, Kipling

Heterogeneity of consumers Although a technology may be cost effective on average for a class of
users taken in aggregate, the class, itself, consists of a distribution of consumers: some could
economically purchase additional efficiency, while others will find the new level of efficiency not cost
effective (Sweeney 1993). This difficulty, is also referred to as aggregation bias. ... Show more content

Bounded rationality Bounded rationality emphasizes limitations to rational decision making that are
imposed by constraints on a decision maker s attention, resources, and ability to process information.
It assumes that economic actors intend to be rational, but are only able to exercise their rationality to a
limited extent (Simon 1957). Important theoretical.
Rebound effect (Social Economic) Rebound effects are where energy efficiency improvements lead to
an energy service becoming cheaper relative to other goods and services, which can lead to increased
consumption or create wealth from the energy savings. Rebound effects can therefore have positive
social and economic consequences but may lead to a conflict with the goal to reduce energy use and
emissions.

Personal Views On Philosophy And Philosophy
Eight weeks ago, I was one who internally had developed specific views of my individuality and what
it meant to be human through personal life experiences. I never put much thought into ideology or
views that have shaped our world into what it is today. This class, not only through readings and
interactions has enlightened me into being a more rounded human being. It has added an intellectual
viewpoint that has changed my way of thinking throughout daily life interactions. I am humbled to
admit exactly how naïve my personal viewpoints have set me back. I would like to interject on this
feeling, that I am also proud of the fact, I was able to find value and substance in some of my personal
viewpoints and the way I approach opinions through rational and logic. Philosophy is a powerful and
life altering academia, challenging the mind, and creating substance of life, defining what it means
intuitively to each, specifically between law and morality or how we shall view right from wrong.
First, when I examine Aristotle, and formed distinctions between practical knowledge and theoretical
knowledge, based on what eudaimonia means to me, it was very confusing. I realized that happiness
brought about different feelings and moral convictions not only from me but unexpected viewpoints
from others. Memory finds its meaning, in large part, through key concepts with which it is paired and
from which it is distinguished (J. Blustein 178). It has brought about unanswered questions that still

Taking a Look at Marketing Strategies
It is defined as paid form of non personal communication about an organisation, service, product, or
idea by an identified sponsor. Public service announcement, which has an sporadic exception whose
advertising space or time is provided by media. Advertisement involves with mass media is referred as
no personal component which transport a massage to large group of peoples, often at the same time,
for instance TV, radio, magazines, newspapers. Non personal component means there will be no
opportunity for quick feedback from the message recipient, so the advertiser must know how the
audience will interpret and respond to it, only before the message to be sent. Advertising is famous
and widely spread and discussed form of promotion because of its omnipresentness. It is the main
prominent promotional tool particularly for companies whose products are targeted at mass consumer
markets. It is the most cost effective method for communicating with large audience. Advertising will
be used to improve brand images and symbolic call for a company or brand. This is an important
opportunity for companies selling products that are difficult to differentiate on practical ascribes.
Other plus point of advertising is its capability to hit a responsive chord with customers when
distinction across other tools of marketing mix is difficult to achieve. Good and popular advertising
campaigns can sometimes be influenced into successful integrated marketing communication
programs. The way and

ECONOMIES
By
MUSA JEGA IBRAHIM
The existing wide disparities between the developed and the underdeveloped economies makes
globalisation a tool for stultifying the industrialisation process, and by extension, retarding the growth
and development of underdeveloped economies. Trade liberalisation, the cardinal instrument of
globalisation ensures that industrialised countries have access to world markets, which enhances
further industrialisation of industrialised countries while incapacitating the industrialisation process of
the underdeveloped economies. The paper is an attempt to examine issues surrounding the paradox of
globalisation and provide a framework for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Proper application of ideas is very crucial in the development process, which Romer (1992)
incorporated as a factor of
production and contrasted alternative development strategies based on using existing ideas and

(1971)2 defined economic growth as a long term rise in capacity to supply increasingly diverse
economic goods to its population; this growing capacity is based on advancing technology and the
institutional and ideological adjustments that it demands (Todaro, 1994). Increases in the outputs of
major sectors of an economy, such as manufacturing and natural resource, either as a result of

Structural Systems And Earthquakes Disasters
Structural Systems and Earthquakes Catastrophes have been feared since the beginning of time. They
occur in all shapes and sizes, and they have a variety of effects. One of the most shocking, as well as
most devastating of these occurrences, is earthquakes. The earliest recorded earthquake happened in
1769 in California (United States Geological Survey, 2014). Since that day, hundreds of thousands of
earthquakes occur each year. Earthquakes are an incredible act that is carried out randomly by a force
of nature. One of the scariest parts of this phenomenon is that it can happen at any moment in time,
and its effects are typically unpredictable. Though earthquakes may be considered irrelevant to some
parts of our country, their effects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the movement of tectonics is monitored, and the movement can be predicted to some
degree. Even though we are able to predict some movement, the timing or an earthquake s force is
unable to be predicted at this time. Earthquakes occur when tectonic plates move and grind against
each other, thus releasing a massive amount of energy through seismic activity. When this happens,
those seismic waves hit the Earth s surface causing the ground to shake in a violent manner. When the
waves actually hit the earth, devices called seismometers, which are strategically placed across the
world, detect the magnitude of the earthquakes force. All of these elements play an important role in
our current understanding of earthquakes. Earthquake Forces When the tectonic plates slip and the
energy is released at the earth s surface, endless effects occur as a result. While this is taking place,
two types of waves associated with this action result: body waves and surface waves. Both of these
categories are divided into sub categories, but they essentially serve the same purpose. Body waves
are the first set of waves to hit the earth s surface, and they resemble water waves by the way they
move. They slowly move the material, horizontally displacing the soil. Surface waves may move the
material horizontally, but they also have the potential to move the ground vertically. Both of these
effects present an opportunity for disaster to

In Alice Monroe s story How I Met My Husband the most obvious theme is the social class separation of farmers housewives and regular housewives. The theme of social class separation is showed in many ways, by the level of education, the level of respect from others, and the level of respect in themselves. Edie can also see simple things that Mrs. Peebles can not. All throughout the story people treat Edie differently because of what social class she is in. In paragraph 165 Edie is speaking about how she took a cake to Chris when Loretta says It s not they mean harm so much, as they re ignorant. Edie did nothing more than take a cake to someone to Loretta s knowledge and she is called ignorant for not getting permission to make a cake or see Chris. • 4. Irving Washington s Rip Van Winkle Irving Washington s Rip Van Winkle is one of the most famous and acclaimed works as well as one of Irving s biggest successes. Irving wrote it after the American Revolution and during that time is when America s society was still developing and becoming it s a government of its own. This short story shows how a new, thriving America had gained freedom, but then that freedom came with a price as it meant that the newly freed country would eventually have had to struggle to establish its own identity. In the story, Irving actually represented these feelings of uncertainly through the titular Rip Van Winkle. The story takes place in a setting in a colonial America and when it was still being ruled by Britain; Rip Van Winkle, while he was a good man he had his own boredom and problems that he did not deal with, including a nagging wife. This all changed when he fell asleep for 20 years and awoke to the same surroundings only everything about it had changed, from his home to the buildings, to the people and to the whole culture he once knew. Everything around him is new, nothing he knew before was there and he was almost like a fish out of water; his village was altered as the people were now different and with different mannerisms and the America he once knew had been freed from Britain (Irving, pg. 36). Even the entire disposition of the village was different since it no longer had the accustomed phlegm and drowsy tranquility and was much busier and lively (Irving, pg. ... • 10. Analysis Of Girl By Jamaica Kincaid Society has created in their minds the way a woman is supposed to act and the things they are allowed to do. In Jamaica Kincaid s Girl , we see a young woman being forced to live by the likeness of the society in which she dwells. Although this is not the life she wants to live, she has no other choice than to become the woman she was made to be. Throughout time the relationship between mothers and daughters have changed. Many mothers hold on to the old fashioned opinion of what a woman should be and many older women feel that a women s true role in life is to be domesticated. This idea of a woman s place in the home is being reinforced throughout Kincaid s short story. The mother in the story is telling her young daughter the ways things should be done. Wash the white clothes on Monday and put them on the stone heap; wash the colored clothes on Tuesday and put them on the clothesline to dry. She further goes on to describe other household chores and how they should be correctly done. This is how you sweep a corner. She tells her daughter how to set a table for different meals, how to cook things, and even how to pick out bread. Unfortunately, though, the story doesn t tell a woman how to have a successful career, to go to college, or how to work outside of the home. In those days women were expected to stay at home while their husband s go out to work and make all the money. Even if they tried, they were not allowed to go outside the way society made them to be and this mother is trying to raise her young daughter the same way she was raised which is to be a house wife. Even though the girl says nothing in the story, she is building resentment towards her mother because she feels that she should be allowed to make her own decision on whether to be domesticated. Throughout the story never did the mother once stop to get her daughter s input on the issues, she just simply tells her daughter that she has no other choice but to be domesticated and there is no way of changing it. Both communications have equal importance, but studies show that non verbal aspect of communication is more efficient than the verbal communication. There are non verbal actions that are seen to be indispensable in the nursing care, smiling, eye gaze, body position and head nodding; these actions are well known as body language (DeWit O Neill,2014). Though the Fourth Amendment can lay the foundation of the laws of search and seizures and warrants, there are still many controversies as to what is classified as a violation of an individual s Fourth Amendment rights. Written in order to provide some historical background to Tolkien s previous novels, The Silmarillion has transcended that quality, and went on to rival both the hobbit and even The Lord of the Rings in terms of storytelling. It is considerably longer than The Hobbit but shorter than LOTR. It tells of the primary happenings of the First Age, contrary to LOTR and the hobbit, set in the Third Age. This time, Sauron was just a lieutenant of Melkor, an even worse and powerful villain, the source of evil on Earth. Ever since it became available in 1977, The Silmarillion was a stunning story. From the obsessive Bubbles (a fish obsessed with bubbles) and Gurgle (the germophobic fish at the dentists office), to the shark trio that refuses to eat fish, and the confused Deb, who thinks her reflection is actually her twin sister, Flo, most of the characters in the movie seem to exhibit some sort of quirky condition. When this happens, those seismic waves hit the Earth s surface causing the ground to shake in a violent manner.
