This document discusses Elisa Corporation's partnership with Teleste to improve the efficiency of its daily cable network operations. Teleste provides network operations center (NOC) services to monitor Elisa's cable network and address issues remotely before sending technicians on truck rolls. The NOC helps reduce costs, speed up repairs, and improve quality of service by locating faults, correcting issues remotely using their management system, and preventing outages from spreading. The partnership has helped lower costs and improve network performance for Elisa.

Topics discussed where:
- Ka band facts
- QoS on Ka band, minimum SLA
- ACM controlled adaptive video
This is a technical training presentation on the renewed satcom Newtec DVB-S2 Calculator v2.17 and covers:
- DVB-S
- DVB-S2
- S2 Extensions
For all current Azimuth, Elevation and MDM series (both demods and modems) and includes Sat3Play terminals.
Officially launched beginning of June 2013, this DVB-S2 calculator replaces its widely spread predecessor (which had over 7,000 downloads).

This DOCSIS 3.0 presentation was given to the SCTE Piedmont Chapter in Morrisville, NC on January 18th. It covers DOCSIS 3.0 basics, terminology, cable modem registration and troubleshooting.
DVB is a set of standards that define digital broadcasting using existing satellite, cable, and terrestrial infrastructures.
The term digital television is sometimes used as a synonym for DVB
A presentation on the physical layer basics of ADSL. I presented this to a couple of colleges in the southeast as a guest lecturer, and to the local chapter of the IEEE Signal Processing Society.
The importance of standards is not to be underestimated, they protect end-users from vendor lock-in and provide freedom of choice, which was the aim of the DVB-S (Digital Video Broadcast - Satellite) standard.
At Newtec we strive to increase the efficiency of the DVB standard. That is why we are contributing to a more efficient DVB-S2 standard, to establish an evolution that further optimizes satellite capacity usage.
This presentation focuses on two specific aspects of this strive for improvement:
- How to reduce costs for transmissions (focusing in this case on Clean Channel Technology)
- Addressing Satellite Interference (RFI)

“Lower OPEX and Improved Service Availability Using Intelligent Nodes and Amplifiers” by Pasi Järvenpää, Senior Vice President, R&D, Teleste Corporation. Increased competition and changes in the value chain are forcing CATV operators to seek new ways to improve operational efficiency and reduce churn. These issues can be addressed by adding intelligence to the network. Adding intelligence to the network can significantly reduce the need for on-site maintenance and improve network reliability - contributing to reduced operating costs.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.
