This document discusses extending cable networks to use the 1.8 GHz RF spectrum for DOCSIS 4.0. It notes that previous upgrades increased the total composite power (TCP) to cover additional spectrum, but today's components cannot extend that slope to 1.8 GHz. However, leveraging the robust power of DOCSIS 3.1 OFDM and allowing lower input levels at higher frequencies can still provide significant additional bandwidth. Maintaining stable and optimized RF input levels at homes using intelligent automation will directly impact modulation levels and enable higher throughput, providing more income for cable operators.
