Identity In The Sympathizer
Viet Thanh Nguyen has done a fantastic job throughout his novel to provide sufficient food for
thought, and creating a goldmine for a thematic essay. Throughout The Sympathizer, the Author
Comments on many world issues, and makes many strong comments on the Vietnam war and Cold
war conflicts. The author uses these conflicts to comment on many themes, such as, American
corruption, and its use in war, communication, and duality. However, the most important of which are
his comments on the theme of Identity. This essay will explore three thematic statements related to the
theme identity. First, one s identity is defined by one s ancestors and parents. Before one has the

One s perception on the world and how one identifies themself, changes depending on the collective
identity of their peers. This is seen in such forms as political and religious beliefs, or one s behavior.
This is commented on multiple times by various characters during the book, as well as being
evidenced by the Narrator s actions and change in behavior over the duration of the novel. The
Narrator comments on this when he states; I confess after having spent almost my whole life in their
(the right wing patriots) company, I cannot help but sympathize with them. (pg.36). Sonny also
comments on this saying; What I learned, against my will, is that it s impossible to live among a
foreign people and not be changed by them (pg. UNDEFINED). Add some more reasoning. The
Narrator during his time taking refuge in america was no longer in personal contact with any
communist, and thus showed signs of being affected by the people around him, somewhat losing his
loyalties to the communists. The Narrator ultimately feels the bite of this when he, against orders,
joins in a patriot raid against the communists, and when caught, spends over a year in a communist re

King Henry VIII And His Wives
Henry and His Wives Henry VIII. If you hear this name what is the first thing that comes to your
mind? One of the most well known things about Henry VIII was his revolving door of wives. Henry
VIII had six wives to be exact Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves,
Kathryn Howard, and Kathrine Parr. While their names aren t first off the tongue, the mention of their
husband s ever changing love life will ring a bell. The question is, who were these women? And how
were they able to become the wife of the most powerful man in England? King Henry VIII first wife
was Catherine of Aragon. Catherine of Aragon was the youngest daughter of King Ferdinand and
Queen Isabella of Spain. According to (six wives of Henry) Cathrine ... Show more content on

Even though Henry was not the object of her affection, her sense of duty persuaded her to marry him
(Catherine Parr). Catherine and Henry were married on July 12, 1543 at Hampton Court (Catherine
Parr). Catherine was thirty one, well educated and rich ( Henry VIII Biography Page 257). Both she
and Henry shared a love for music and conversation (catherine Parr). The king was so pleased with
Catherine that he named her Regent of England a year after her marriage (Catherine Parr). Henry VIII
s health declined as 1546 went on and Catherine actively cared for him (Catherine Parr). On January
28, 1547 King Henry died and the Queen became Dowager (Catherine Parr). Each one of Henry s six
wives stories are all different and unique. Each one with their own injustices. Even with Henry s
revolving door of wives he only produced one male heir. This leads some scholars to believe that
Henry might have had syphilis due to the amount miscarriages his wives had, and the many sores on
his legs (Anne Boleyn). King Henry VIII s notorious love life could become one of many things to

My Most Significant Personality Related Expierence
Perphaps my most significant personality related expierence was four years ago with my roommate
Stacy. Upon meeting each other we quickly established our guidelines and we were satisfied with our
living arrangements. For the first few days we appeared to be doing well, but it was towards the end of
the second week that our relationship began to rapidly deteriorate. We began to fight about the
smallest of things and it was difficult to be in the room for anything other than to sleep.Whenever we
weren t fighting we would take on passive aggressive roles. Nothing we did went by without a snide
comment to the other. Day after day, we created a more toxic environment with our feelings of hurt,
anger and resentment. Going in to the program, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the same time,Stacy seemed to presonally resent that I would refuse to go with her to parties and
events. She thought I was being difficult to spite her and for no other paticular reason. Looking back
on my expierence with Stacy, it is clear that we would have had better handled the situation if we had
looked from each other s perspectives. Refelctive Observation As I look back, it is now obvious just
how much our feelings were affecting out perspectives. For the most part I was angry that she
complained about things that I had previously spoken to her about. My anger caused me to look at her
as the enemy and everything she said was heavily scrutinzed. I would activley search for things that
would prove that she was my enemy. I had made up my mind about her and there was nothing she
could do to change my mind. Stacy on the other hand resented that I would decline her inviations and
accepted inviations from my other friends. From her persepctive, it was not that I did not like to go to
events , it was that I did not like to go to events with her in particular. She was hurt that I chose others
over her and so she would complain about my sleeping habits and accuse me of being anti social. Fo
the most part, our perspectives were what molded our behavior and aided in our falling out. From my
persective, I was the victum who was being unjustly harrassed by her roommate. Due to this view, I
tended to be on the defensive and look

Jupiter´s Europa Moon
Europa is the sixth of Jupiter s moons and the fourth largest. Europa is named after a Phoenician
princess who was abducted by Zeus and taken to the island of Crete to be his lover. Europa was
discovered by Galileo Galilei and possibly Simon Marius in 1610 and is one of the four Galilean
satellites. The others being: Io, Ganymede, and Callisto. Europa is very different from the other moons
of Jupiter. Instead of a rocky, cratered surface like Callisto and Ganymede, it instead has a smooth
outer surface of cracked ice. There are very few sign of craters on Europa. In fact, only three large
craters have been found. This indicates that Europa s surface is very young and active. In photographs
sent back by orbiters, the surface resembles sea ice on Earth. Astronomers believe that beneath this
layer of ice may exist an ocean, kept liquid by the moon s internal heat. This liquid ocean could be as
much as 30 miles deep. The existence of deep ocean vents on the ocean floor on Earth have led some
scientists to speculate that there could be a possibility of life on Europa. Around these deep sea vents
on Earth are life forms that do not need sunlight to survive. They instead feed on bacteria that get their
nutrients from chemicals seeping up from the ocean floor. This process is known as chemosynthesis.
Scientists believe that similar life forms could evolve on Europa if a liquid ocean does indeed exist
beneath its frozen surface. The most apparent features on Europa are a series

Reflection Paper For Teachers
During the month of November, I became our school s acting testing coordinator. Our testing
coordinator was in an accident and went out on medical leave. She was suddenly out for an
undetermined amount of time and with a severe concussion was unable to remember what she
completed and what she did not. During her absence, there were two assessments and a survey that
needed to me completed. These assessments included SAT 10, FFT (Teacher Survey) and MAP R.
This was a very demanding experience. The first thing that needed to be completed was the FFT
Teacher Survey. This is important to all teachers on cycle using the Framework for Teaching. The
Survey is a vital component to a teachers overall effectiveness. If left incomplete, the teacher receives
a score of zero for that portion. When I became the acting testing coordinator, only two weeks were
left in the window and no surveys were completed. Within two weeks, I needed to complete 167
surveys for 7 teachers. Unfortunately, the teachers could not assist in this endeavor. I tried to create a
schedule were I was able to conduct all 167 surveys. This was impossible if I was still going to meet
with my intervention students. Therefore, I rounded up a team of individuals that had opportunity and
the willingness to assist. This team consisted of the ESOL teacher and the Guidance Counselor. The
team and I then created a plan that incorporated the surveys into the Guidance Counselor s schedule.

The Five Husbands In The Wife Of Bath s Tale
The wife of bath stands up for women equality and does not let men push her around. She had five
husbands, with each of them she used a technique to get what she wanted. She would blame them for
things they did not do, she would make them buy her things and have complete mastery over all of
them. With her fifth husband things become rocky with her having the upper hand in the relationship.
This is shown through the book that her husband reads which in that book degrades women. She snaps
back into this mode of control and stands up for women by tearing the pages out of this book. The
wife of bath thinks women should always have mastery in a marriage, this leads her to realize with her

The Dutch Republic Downfall Essay
Within 1650 to 1713 the Dutch Republic underwent a formidable transformation, which changed its
status as a major influence in Europe. The Dutch Republic was a political union of seven provinces
that was not only an impressive banking and commercial capital, but the Dutch also had a great navy
as well. Additionally, the center of flourishment in the Dutch Republic was Amsterdam, which was the
foremost trading and banking center in all of Europe. The changing environment of the late
seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries forced the Dutch Republic into a position of conflict and
unbalance, which proved detrimental to their country as a whole. One of the first challenges to the
Dutch Republic dealt with military and how countries, such as ... Show more content on

Additionally, another major conflict of militaristic means was against the English, in which
approximately 2,000 to 2,700 Dutch ships were seized by the English in the three Anglo Dutch Wars,
(Doc. 3). This document primarily showed that Dutch had major troubles with their security to other
foreign nations. England was the main competitors of the Dutch for trade during this time period, and
these seizing of ships made perfect sense if the English wanted to come out on top. For example, these
conflicts are shown on a map of the naval battles between the English and Dutch, during the years
1652 1674, (Doc. 1). On the map the most battles occurred between the Dutch trade route that went
through waters close to England, which ended up being one of the biggest challenges to the Dutch
republic militarily. Marquis de Pamponne, French ambassador to the Dutch Republic, reported to the
French government that the wars between the English and Dutch were primarily over trade and
obtaining trade routes, (Doc. 11). This document was written by a foreign opinion to the French
government because the French were obviously curious about these conflicts that were occurring.
More importantly, this document showed trade routes were a major cause of challenges on the military
on the Dutch, which caused an increase

Feral Cats Essay
Cats are one of the most beloved pets to humans beings. Though they provided a sense of comfort and
love, there is a dark side to these soft, adorable, felines. Cats, both domestic and feral, poses a serious
threat to native bird populations in the United States and health risk to both people and other animals.
It is important that people realize the impact that feral cats have in the environment that they inhabit
and how it not only effects other species, but us humans as well. Feral cats have no form of human
interaction and therefore are difficult and or nearly impossible to assimilate as a regular house pet.
There appears to be limited options on what can be done to help assist in the reduction of feral cat
populations without sparking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important to note the difference between stray cats and feral cats. Stray cats are cats that were
once owned and then later abandoned or lost. Feral cats are cats that grew up with no human contact.
Cat colonies are not some big happy cat family like Cat Warriors According to this article, in the 1980
s, the population of Brown Pelican colonies decreased as the population of feral cats increased, Feral
cats could depress Brown Pelican productivity in local areas... (Daniel, James, Gene, Franklin,
Leopoldp). Brown Pelicans constructs their nests close to the ground. Their natural predators when it
comes to eating their offspring s have been black rats. However, this relationship between pelicans and
rats have always existed before the introduction of cats. With cats interring the game, Brown Pelicans
not only have to defend their eggs and hatchlings from rats, but also a new, and skilled predator; cats
having the ability to attack and kill both parents and offspring will surely lead to the extinction of
Brown Pelicans along the California coast. Piping Plover, California Clapper Rail, Florida Scrub Jay,
and Hawaiian Petre are example of rare species of birds that find their existence threatened by cats.
According to an article from abcbirds.org, cats carry bacteria and viruses in their mouths, some of
which can be transmitted to their victims. Even if treatment is administered immediately, only about

Stalin was extremely ambitious and his initial taste of power had made him even more egotistical.
Trotsky fled but was hunted down and eliminated to ensure Stalin retained power. The long term
effects of this ensured that future opponents of Stalin would also be eliminated.
With Lenin dead and Trotsky eliminated Stalin realized he was now able to concentrate on his own
policies. He abandoned Lenin s idea of World Revolution and adopted his own policy of Socialism in
One Country . He began with state control of Industry and Agriculture. This led to Stalin adopting his
Five Year Plans for Industry and Collectivisation of Agriculture . An organisation called GOSPLAN
was created to plan everything out. The first five year plan was created to improve heavy industries
production such as coal, oil, iron, steel and electricity. The second continued to emphasise on heavy
industry but also made a commitment to communication systems such as railways. The third put an
emphasis on weapon production, as war did seem to be approaching. The long term effects of this
were that Russia was able to withstand German invasion in World War Two and drive back the
German forces. Stalin s adoption of the Five Year Plans proved to be very successful. There were vast

Michelangelo Creation Of Adam Essay
Michelangelo is without a doubt, one of the most brilliant artists in history. One of his most famous
masterpieces occupies what is probably the largest canvas on earth: The Sistine Chapel. Each fresco
contains a glimpse of creation using nine separate stories from the book of Genesis. Yet the most
famous image from this 134 ft. x 45 ft. painting is The Creation of Adam. The image of God reaching
down to Adam is so commonplace that many forget, or do not know, how controversial this portrayal
of the divine was in the 16th century. God was a divine king seated upon a throne who wore royal
robes, a papal crown, and held a scepter in his hand. This was not a God that conveyed a sense of
warmness, intimacy, or desire for human contact. God was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Interestingly, the elements that represent this in the painting are God s clothing, nearness to Adam, and
the extended finger. God is no longer clothed in royal finery, but wears a garment that offers no
protection or distance from the created. By adding how close God is to Adam, a strong sense of human
intimacy emerges. Yet the most significant feature of this painting is the outstretched finger of God.
Through touch, God imparts life to Adam. Through touch, Adam receives not only physical breath, but
spiritual breath. Michelangelo himself said, To touch can be to give life. This was true of his famous
painting, but is also true for humanity today. (Keltner)
Research has shown how vital touch is to human development. At the University of California,
Berkley, professor of psychology Dacher Keltner, has conducted extensive research on the science of
human touch. In a lecture to his students, Keltner said, In recent years, a wave of studies has
documented some incredible emotional and physical health benefits that come from touch. This
research is suggesting that touch is truly fundamental to human communication, bonding, and health.

Malcolm X As A Transformational Leader
From his troubled childhood to his politically powerful movement for Black equality, Malcolm Little,
later known as Malcolm X, evolved into a transformational leader. The effects of his leadership were
felt around the world during the 1960s. Americans were faced with great uncertainty during this time.
For all minority groups in the United States, politics, the government and its laws, and society as a
whole were changing drastically. In response to years of oppression, a collection of concerned groups
formed the civil rights movement which rallied African American people together to fight for equal
rights, access, and opportunities. Malcolm X was one of the most influential civil rights leaders of this
era as the loudest voice for the African American community. His leadership was effective because of
the way he utilized a radical idea to convert and influence his followers.
Malcolm X was born on May 19, 1925, in Omaha, Nebraska as one of eight children. He learned very
early on the value of his African American history and culture. His father was a Baptist minister and
an avid supporter of Pan African activists which attracted death threats and violence from white
supremacist groups. He was later suspiciously killed and Malcolm s mother suffered an emotional
breakdown and was later committed to a mental institution. Sadly Malcolm was displaced from his
home and forced into foster care where he had no support system and felt the weight of white
oppression daily. Nebraska

The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall Character Analysis
In The Jilting of Granny Weatherall by Katherine Anne Porter the character Granny Weatherall has an
interesting past that molds her personality. Granny Weatherall has many layers to her character,
ranging from a loving mother to an independent woman who refuses help when she needs it most. Her
life is constantly changing, and with it her personality and view on life shifts as well. The short story
is told through the eyes of Granny Weatherall in her last moments of life. Being the independent
woman she is, it is hard for her to grasp the fact she is dying and there is nothing she can do to stop it,
so she recollects on the parts of her life that developed her personality. Granny Weatherall s complex
personality and character depth causes her to become such an amazing individual that has many
different levels to be discovered and enjoyed. The loss of Granny Weatherall s husband forced her to
become an independent woman. Her independence made her stronger and she displayed her
stubbornness to strive any time she could. Although she was a woman who was not extraordinarily
strong, she tended to the land by herself, such as when She had fenced in a hundred acres once,
digging the post holes herself and clamping the wires to upkeep her land (Porter 79). Even without a
husband, she was able to do many difficult tasks by herself. Mrs. Weatherall did not need help from
others and often refused it, even in her final moments of life Granny Weatherall told the doctor Leave
a well woman alone. I ll call for you when I want you (Porter 78). Granny Weatherall was able to raise
her three children, without the help of her late husband, and the children grew up loving their mother.
Granny Weatherall s level of commitment adds to her independence, due to the fact that after her
husband passed, she refused to marry again and continued to strive without a partner. Not only is
Granny Weatherall able to take care of herself, but she displays her compassion for others and asks for
nothing in return. Granny Weatherall s independence defines the amazing woman s legacy of being
capable of doing so much, without the help of others. Granny has an air of bitterness around her, due
to her being jilted and the loss of her husband and

So allow me to give you some more examples of the benefits to the company increasing their

employee s five year anniversary with the company. When companies do things like that you give
your employees a reason to want to stay with the company for those many years so that is one way to

after certain tenure with the company. The employee s vacation benefits can take the form of annual

times. An employee will be more likely to stay if they know they can depend on you to tell the truth

Project Management Plan For Projects Essay
Project Procurement Management
Name: Artemus Brown
American Military University
1.1. Project management plan
Project management plays a vital part in planning and determining the project s directions and it
likewise guarantees that project can be executed on budget, on time and meet organization s
requirements. (Bernard David, 2003) Thus, clear vision, plan and strategy ought to be resolved to
know that project ought to be controlled (Holland, 1999).
The project management plan should obviously clear up how the craved objectives can be
accomplished. There are three frequently interrelated and contending objectives in project
management that ought to be met: Cost, scope and time. (Bhatti, 2005)
The projects are constantly assessed in light of the accomplishment of particular objectives, to be
specific; cost, time spent and scope. So higher level of responsibility of these triple requirements is
considered as project management s essential elements of project management, which implies
adjusting trade offs in the middle of cost and time, furthermore, performance while in the long run
fulfilling the clients. (Erik Clifford, 2011)
Manager of the project ought to contemplate the realistic way of triple constrains. For example, if the
timelines are very tight and the project scope is very large it will be difficult to reach the expected and
desired result. As a result, the manager of the project continually settles on tradeoff choices among
these three

The Invention Of The War
War has been an important part of society since humans wandered the earth, it played an important
role in shaping society the way it is today. War comes from an disagreement between two civilizations
and as an outcome different tools and technologies have been implemented to assist in a civilization
coming out victorious. One major technological advancement that revolutionized wars was
gunpowder. The military art has been changed by the invention of gunpowder; which enables man to
command the two most powerful agents of nature, air and fire. Mathematics, chymistry, mechanics,
architecture, have been applied to the service of war; and the adverse parties oppose to each other the
most elaborate modes of attack and of defence. After the ancient Chinese alchemists used gunpowder
to make fireworks and firecrackers. After making its way into Europe it was adapted by English and
French military and played a crucial part in the way wars were fought. Gunpowder is the most
important technology that revolutionized warfare thought out the Middle Ages in Europe as it
influenced the Hundred Year War, the Invasion of Italy and the destruction of the British Parliament.
The invention of gunpowder came from ancient China*, the book Pao P u Tzu from the Jin Dynasty

Roman Empire. First house belongs to the house of Marcus Lycus, a buyer and seller of beautiful
women. Next is the house of Senex, a Roman senator, his wife Domina, their son Hero, and his slave,
Pseudolus, who is attempting to raise enough money to buy his freedom. Last is the house of Erronius,
a blind man that continuously complain about the unsolved kidnapping long ago of his son and
daughter who were stolen by pirates while they were infants. The basic plot of the play consists of a
slave (Pseudolus) trying to buy his freedom from his owner, Hero, who happens to be the son of Senex
(the father) and Domina (the mother). Luckily for Pseudolus, Hero has fallen in love with Philia, a
virgin who is waiting for Captain Miles Gloriosus to come and claim her, because she has been sold to
him by the proprietor of the House of Pleasure, Marcus Lycus. Hero would give anything in order to
make Philia his; so he promised Pseudolus his freedom if and only if he could get Philia to be his. The
majority of the play revolves around Pseudolus trying to arrange for Hero and Philia to be together
forever. He runs into numerous obstacles, including a hysterical Hysterium, the slave in chief, and a
bumbling old man, Erronius, who arrives home after being abroad for 20 years searching

Argue for the Limitation of Speed Limits Essay
Argue for the limitation of speed limits In American society today, there are numerous laws designed
to protect all citizens. One such law is having a speed limit. This requires motorists to drive
reasonably and consider the conditions and potential hazards, regardless of what the speed limit signs
say. As the automobile demands grew, the streets and highways expanded throughout the US,
lawmakers created speed limits. On thee another hand, some citizens believe with modern day road
materials and current automotive technologies, cars can safely exceed the legal limits set on almost
every road in the United States. But, endless amount of studies and researches proves that having a
speed limit can save lives, not to mention money. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While each vehicle reaches its optimal fuel economy at a different speed (or range of speeds), gas
mileage usually decreases rapidly at speeds above 50 mph. You can assume that each 5 mph you drive
over 50 mph is like paying an additional $0.24 per gallon for gas. Sensible driving is also safer for you
and others, so you may save more than gas money. $150 is the average speeding ticket in the U.S. And
if speeding 80 or higher the fine can be even more, and may have had to appear before a judge, cited
for reckless driving and even ended up spending some time in jail. Plus, if you receive points related
to an auto accident or speeding, your insurance premium can increase by as much as 30 percent
depending on how fast or serious the accident. Drivers who are involved in accidents are considered to
be a bad risk because they cost insurance companies large amount of money. Speeding may be the
fastest way to get from Point A to Point B, but it s not a very cost efficient or a fuel efficient solution.
Rather you agree or disagree with having a speed limit; or even obeying the speed limit. It is our
morally duty to accept the fact that lawmakers created speed limits in the citizens best interest to
protect drivers for minor and fatal car accidents. Some citizens still question, if in fact the government
claims to set speed limits are really for the public well being, or simply to make a quick profit. Of
course, one thing we can

What Role Does Venus Play In Greek Mythology
Mythology is a story composed of reality and fantasy. Roman Mythology is unique, as its characters
portray attributes that have influenced mans ego. Powers possessed by gods such as wisdom,
endearment , and potential to perform supernatural activities, have affected many individuals habits
and feelings. Although Venus is best known for her peculiar beauty and self love, she is also known
for her role of women in society, and myth influence on the modern day world. The goddess of love

produced by the severed genitals of Heaven after being thrown to the sea by his son. ( Venus )

Mediator Case Presentation
The Dispute at hand has been referred to mediation upon the suggestion of the Court. I have been
identified as the independent mediator for this dispute. My main objective is to fully diagnose the
situation by gathering and organizing all the relevant information. I aim to do so by building
credibility, fostering a positive relationship with the parties, and educating them about the mediation
process while securing their commitment to this process. In order to achieve this act it will require
broad psychological control and people management. Over the course of mediation procedure I will
apply the different elements of principled negotiation to achieve an agreement that is competent and
improves the existing hostile relationship of both parties.
Agreement
An essential element to the operation of the mediation process is that both parties agree and consent to
the intervention before preparatory activities begin. Therefore, a clearly written agreement should be
drafted. I plan to draft this document with the input from all parties, in order to aid interpretation and
minimise future ambiguity. The document will describe the clear intent and agreement between the
parties and will be signed by all parties and their counsels. The agreement will pay particular focus on
the following points:
Agreement to commit to mediation
Each individual party must use its best efforts to comply with the reasonable requests made by me in
order to ensure a punctual and expeditious determination

To What Extent Should People Be Prosecuted For Online Piracy
Should people be prosecuted for online piracy? I do think that people should be prosecuted for online
piracy to an extent. I do not think that their should be a harsh punishment for something so little. But I
do think that something should be done because they technically are stealing. Some people may not
even know they are stealing until someone tells them that what they are doing is illegal. Online piracy
is a crime that can be easily prevented.
One reason why I think people should be prosecuted to an extent is because it is a harmless crime.
People in the world have gotten a lesser charge for things that are worst than piracy. Some of the
crimes actually can involve hurting others yet they get a lesser crime. On a website ... Show more

Now some people might say that everyone in the situation is guilty since they are stealing through the

Alex Rodriguez Broke Into Spring Camp With The Seattle...
In 1994, an 18 year old kid from Miami named Alex Rodriguez broke into spring camp with the
Seattle Mariners in an attempt to make the team. After almost immediately stepping into a Major
League baseball field he became a household name. Within two years, he was an All Star. Within five,
a regular 40 homer player. By the turn of the century, many were already putting him into the Hall of
Fame discussion.
On August 12, 2016, Rodriguez played what will be his final game as a New York Yankee after an
incredible 12 years in New York. Considering the 41 year old s lack of playing time and declining
production after a resurgent effort in 2015, this may very well be the end of the A Rod era entirely.
And for A Rod, he was prepared to leave the game he fell in love with as a child.
I do want to be remembered as someone who was madly in love with the game of baseball, someone
who loves it at every level, Rodriguez said. Someone who loves to learn it, play it, teach it, coach it.
And also, I m going to be hopefully remembered as someone who tripped and fell a lot, but someone
that kept getting up.
Rodriguez has led a very controversial 22 year baseball career. His lowest moment being when he was
infamously suspended for the entire 2014 season following the Biogenesis investigation. The longest
suspension ever served in Major League Baseball history.
But his story did not end there.

Discussion Marketing Moissanite Essay examples
Findings of Fieldwork Interview analysis When conducting our interview, we separated the questions
based on our marketing research objectives. We felt this would be the best way to sort through the
information so we could best address our objectives. To investigate the motivation behind women
buying fine jewellery We decided that it was first best to determine the frequency with which
respondents wear jewellery, which gave us an insight into the frequency of jewellery use in the target
market (respondents were all females aged 18 50). After discovering that of 38 respondents, 32 wore
jewellery every day we were able to determine that the management issue was certainly not with the
demographic of MoiMoi s target market. (Q1, Appendix ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following on from this, we asked respondents about their preferred method of purchase when
purchasing a gift for someone other than themselves. A considerable amount (25/38) said that they
would certainly prefer to buy in store when shopping for a gift. The significance of which, for MoiMoi
is that in store advertisements would be more effective if associating moissanite with ideas such as the
perfect gift . Whereas, web advertisement may be focused more on purchase for one s self. (Q8,
Appendix 4.1) Finally, to determine the purchase decision process of the consumer, we asked whether
consumers shop around for jewellery when purchasing, or if certain jewels spoke to them . This was
asked in order to determine how often jewellery is not researched, but rather as a result of effective
marketing instantly sold for all intensive purposes in the eyes of the consumer. The results showed that
more often than not, consumers would stumble upon jewels that they had to have. This reinforces the
idea that the industry is built entirely on the aesthetic, with gemmological properties having a minimal
effect on consumer perception of gems. (Q9, Appendix 4.1) To investigate the attributes considered
when buying fine jewellery. To initiate this research objective, we determined that it would be best to
ask respondents what they believed to be their most valued product attribute when purchasing fine
jewellery. Twenty seven responses related to the

Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy is more commonly known to...
Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy is more commonly known to humans as Mad Cow Disease or
BSE. BSE originated from scrapie or Endemic Spongiform Encephalopathy, which is a disease that
has affected mostly sheep and goats. BSE is an illness that attacks the brain and spinal cord of adult
cattle due to an infection by a transmissible agent known as a prion. Once affected by BSE cattle
began to develop strange behavior such as aggression, lack of coordination with the inability to stand
or walk, and abnormal posture; hence the name Mad Cow Disease (1).
Why BSE Should Be Eradicated
BSE is a fatal disease
BSE has been seen to progress very slowly in relation to other diseases, however is very contagious
and fatal for not only cattle, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of what many refer to as the domino effect, 90% of those infected will suffer a death within
one year (4).
Can BSE be Eradicated
A Tough Road Ahead
BSE is an extremely rare disease making it a very tough candidate for eradication. This is especially
true in humans; while still rare, BSE is much more common in cattle rather than humans. It is also
very tough to conduct studies with the rapid progression of the disease and the short lifespan of those
infected. Because the cattle commonly infected are vastly spread out between multiple countries, this
adds yet another obstacle to overcome when attempting to eradicate BSE in cattle and in return
eradicating vCJD in humans. Even with the obvious and difficult complications facing the
extermination of this disease the government and scientists have outlined a few ways to slow down the
progression and transmittal of BSE (5).
What Can Be Done Steps to Eradication
Despite the incredibly hard process ahead to eradicate BSE and vCJD here are the steps that have
already been put into place to begin the procedure. In July of 1988 a feed ban was introduced as the
key animal health control measure. The feed ban is thought to prevent the integration of conceivably
infectious material into animal feed for ruminants, and to prevent uninfected cattle from becoming ill.
The FDA decided to strengthen the 1988 rule in 1997 and 2008 by barring the use of high risk cattle
tissues in all animal feed.

Essay about The Flight Path of Airplanes Over Neighborhoods
The Flight Path of Airplanes Over Neighborhoods The houses can t be unbuilt, and the airports can t
be torn down. But maybe the fences can be mended. Robbie Sherwood In the past 10 years, many
cities across the country have outgrown the planner s expectations. Unfortunately the airports that
were built 20 or more years ago, have not grown with the cities. Phoenix has tripled in size in the past
10 years. The tripling of air traffic has not had anywhere to go. The same two runways that have been
serving the city since 1935 when the airport was built have been extremely over loaded. It is not just

The airspace is always changing to support more and more traffic. The older airport system is not able
to support the increased traffic. If all the sides were looked at, the advantages to having a strong air
travel system in a large city far outweigh the drawbacks. When the busiest two runway airport in the
world (Phoenix), has to go through 7 years of red tape bureaucracy to get a runway built, something is
wrong with the picture. The procedure should be modified so that changes can be made to the facility
when it needs to, not 10 years later. The way to get this done is that we need to start an awareness
campaign to let our government know what we want. We live with a democratic government, so we
should take advantage of it to speak out for something we want. The most effective way of making our
congressman aware of the issue is through a writing campaign. We need to write and have our friends
write to get the word out that airports are needed.
If the rule makers are aware that there are many people that do want aviation, it might speed up the
process. Speaking about airport expansion, There are only 3 runways expansion projects in the
country right now on the drawing board, Phoenix, Orlando, and Cleveland. It takes an extraordinarily
large amount of red tape to get a runway built, or lengthened (Sullivan 10 27 98). When I speak of red
tape, I mean the bureaucratic process to get the necessary

The Effects Of Overcrowding Of Emergency Departments
The Effects of Overcrowding In Emergency Departments Emergency Departments (ED) are a crucial
part of the medical field, because you can receive emergency care 24/7 and 365 days a year. EDs were
designed to provide immediate and stabilizing care to patients with medical emergencies (Derlet
Richards Kravitz, 2001). The current problem in EDs is overcrowding of patients. The cause of
overcrowded EDs is multifactorial, but the main causes are inadequate inpatient capacity, ED closures
and a shortage of staff. (Cowan Trzciak 2004). Overcrowding of EDs has lead to longer wait times,
ambulance diversions, insufficient care, medical errors, and ultimately the patient safety (Trzeciak
Rivers, 2003). The ED closures and decrease in patient beds in hospitals around the nation are the root
problem as the overcrowding we see today. From 1990 to 1999, 1128 EDs were closed; although the
ED visits had risen 14 percent (Cowan Trzciak 2004). With the growth rate being higher in more
populated areas such as California with 27 percent more visits (Trzeciak Rivers, 2003). From 1981 to
1999 the number of inpatient beds decreased 39 percent (Trzeciak Rivers, 2003). Both of which were
hospital cost containment initiatives, and to keep a high census (a full hospital at all times) (Trzeciak
Rivers, 2003). With the increase in patients the remaining EDs are being flooded and overwhelmed
along with the rest of the hospital.

Epic Theatre By Bertolt Brecht
Bertolt Brecht was the pioneer of a new style of theatre, epic theatre. Epic theatre differentiates itself
from Bertolt s previous influences by presenting a series of loosely connected scenes that avoid
illusion and often interrupt the story line to address the audience directly with analysis, argument, or
documentation. He sought to remind the spectator that the play is an illustration of the playwright s
point of view rather than a slice from reality. This made audiences react with curiousity and participate
in a dialogical argument criticising their own life and what they could do to change it rather than an
emotional and empathic response that accepts events in the play as a slice of reality, accepted as the
norm. He wanted his audiences to adopt a critical perspective in order to recognise social injustice and
to go forth and transform the reality.
Bertolt utilised specific techniques to intentionally disillusion the audience throughout the play. One
of the main techniques that Bertolt utilised was exposing the construction and mechanisms of theatre
to the audience. By emphasizing the spectator s awareness of the methods of its production, his shows
aimed to expose the contradictions between the characters ideology and purpose. Such techniques
included flooding the stage with harsh white light, regardless of where the action was taking place,
and leaving the stage lamps in full view of the audience; making use of minimal props and indicative
scenery; intentionally

While the content of an artwork is crucial to its final outcome, the importance of input and process is

the preparation for laying on a new coat of paint and the small repairs that are going to be inevitable

Ask for what materials and paint they are using. Make sure everything is quality. Quality lasts longer

Freedom Writers Film Analysis
The film The Freedom Writers was released in 2007 and was directed by Richard LaGravanese.
Richard used multiple film techniques to help the viewers understand how the characters are feeling,
their relationships with other characters and what their personality is like. These techniques include
camera shots, costume, and lighting, and they were helpful to create a theme of perseverance. In one
scene, room 203 is spending a lot of time to raise money so Miep Gies, an elderly lady who lived
through World War II and helped hide Anne Frank, can come visit them. After a dance concert and a
bake sale, both of which were very popular, they had raised enough for Gies to travel to America.
During their struggle to fundraise, Margaret the head teacher would continuously complain to the
principle that they shouldn t be able to do so, to no avail. When Miep arrives, students have created a
big, bright sign, welcoming her to their school, and they all listen with rapt attention as she tells them
her experience in the war. A tracking shot was used as Margaret marched to the principal s office three
times and the camera followed her as she moved. A tracking shot attracts the audience s attention to
what the camera is focusing on, which in this case is Margaret. A long shot being incorporated into the
tracking shot tells the audience that the setting is important as well, and the long shot helps the viewer
understand the emotion of the characters as we

tie it to our history, lest these things become headlines when people are reminded of their past.
We should not forget how far we have come and we should let these horrible things that we ve grown
from teach us lessons for the future. The building that I am talking about in my paper does not have
such a sordid past, it was built not even ten years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are a large amount of windows, big and small to take advantage of the natural sunlight, as well
as windows controlled by the temperature of the building that are programmed to open when it is too
hot and to close as it gets cold. On the outside of the building, covering some of the windows are
exterior window shudders that allow just the right amount of sun in when needed. Since they have big
clear windows they also added very fine netting a few inches away from them because unfortunately a
lot of birds were flying into the windows and injuring themselves.
Many of the roofs on the land either have solar panels or are green roofs that allow for plants to grow
on top of them which keeps the building temperature balanced, lowers carbon dioxide, and helps
collect water for the water cisterns that they use for the bathrooms and for watering plants. The roofs
being held up with link chains as pillars from the office side of the building to the lounge side. The
building also boasts extra insulation to insure that no extra energy escapes and less influence in the
building of the weather outside, and when that s not enough they also have geothermal wells to help
sustain the buildings temperature without using much energy (Morris Arboreteum University of
Pennsylvania).

Specificity
Specificity: There are general or global demands that all human beings need to have general strength
and power, good posture, core stability, mobility, and stability at all of the major joints. These
components are all requirements for a healthy and functional body, especially in an athletic
environment. All human beings squat as every single day activity. Picking up a box? Getting up or
sitting down? Starting your lawn mower? That is a single arm row, using both back and core muscles
to generate rotational power. Carrying groceries in from the car? That is a farmer s walk, which places
a huge demand on the core and upper back (Wilmore Costill 2005).
The concept of Specificity simply states that training bouts must go from highly general training
sessions to highly specific training sessions. The concept of Specificity also implies that athlete
become better at a particular and specific exercise or skill, athlete must perform that highly specific
exercise or skill (verywell).
The training sessions must be specific not only to athlete s sport/skills but to athlete s individual
abilities (recoverability, tolerance to training stress, outside obligations, etc) (fitstar).
Specificity also means that to become better at a particular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Athletes are working multiple muscles in a squat. Single joint exercises tend to isolate a muscle. Using
the legs extension (athlete s quadriceps) are doing the work, which can lead to muscle imbalances and
possibly injury. However, multi joint exercises are much more likely to simulate real life, or real
sports, movements. In real life we use many muscles and joints in very rapid succession to move. We
should keep this in mind when we select our exercises during training (Wilmore Costill

Celebrities Should Be Role Models
No matter what celebrities are looked up upon by somebody, making them a role model. Celebrities
should be considered role models. Celebrities can come in any shape or form or can be famous for
multiple reasons. The reasons behind celebrities being considered role models are as following, they
have a huge following of supporters, they can help with causes, and they are very inspirational.
Overall, celebrities should be role models. Out of the many reasons backing up celebrities being role
models one of the reasons would be that they have a huge following of people that either support them
or know of them. With this comes a lot of power that they can use for good. Celebrities could use this
following to help kids who look up to them. If the superstar stayed in school and did not do drugs then
the kids and teens that look up to them will do the same thing. They would think that they do not have
to ditch school and do drugs to be cool. Celebrities could also use their spotlight to show people
different experiences. For example, if a moviestar post on their social media platform that they are
going to go take a hike up to the hollywood sign, then the followers might want to do the same thing
that maybe they would have never done before. Which, by doing so may show the person that they
love hiking or being outside, giving them a new healthy hobby. Celebrities show their followers
different things all the time that they may not have known before making them a role model.

Review Of Dracula By Bram Stoker
Blood Lust The amount of crazed vampire stories within this world continuously grows despite the
amount of creativity that can go into the description, and characterization of said vampires being quite
limited. There would only be so many possibilities for scenes, situations, and character designs if
authors went by nothing more than the characteristics of the vampires in Bram Stoker s Dracula.
Because of this, authors continue to create more and more ridiculous scenarios as well as more and
more advanced vampires. The comparison of the way vampires look, respond to environmental
stimuli, and act in social situations in books like Dracula or The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod, as well
as book series such as Blood Lad and Twilight, is quite drastic. Every vampire in movies or novels
essentially has the same cold body functions of the dead pale, chilled flesh, lack of a heartbeat.
Dracula had these characteristics, along with being clad in black... who is clean shaven aside from a
long, white moustache. Dracula lived in a Gothic era where he wore a double breasted vest, white
shirt, black slacks, fancy shoes, a pocket watch, and a fake smile on his face. These kind looks, as well
as his charisma, made people trust him more. In the novel, it is written that ...The count s greeting is
so warm that the Englishman s fears vanish. Modern vampires, unlike Dracula, tend to typically look
and act more like teenagers. They are clothed in hooded sweaters, t shirts, and jeans.

Essay On Dissection In Schools
Dissection in High Schools Dissection has become more and more prevalent in high schools in the last
50 years, so much that it has been estimated that about 75% of pre college level biology classes have
them. Many organizations like PETA and animal humane societies have been bashing dissection
because it can be considered animal cruelty. Studies have shown that dissections have provided a
hands on, authentic approach to understanding anatomy and physiology, but when you consider the
ethics behind dissection, it totally changes the game. I believe that dissections in high school do help
students understand Anatomy and Physiology, but are unethical. Dissections in high schools are
considered unethical based off of their distributors/sources of the cadavers, alternatives to animal
dissection, and how it tells students that it s okay to abuse helpless animals. While people like to
believe that the animals have been killed because they were sick ... Show more content on

PETA believes that dissection can even dissuade some people from pursuing careers in science. Many
animal rights groups think that classroom dissection desensitizes students to the sanctity of life.
Reports from MLive (a Michigan broadcast network) show that serial killer Jeffery Dahmer dissected
a frog when he was younger and then went to a dog and then became an infamous serial killer. Now, I
m not saying that since we are dissecting a cat we will become serial killers, but it shows that someone
thought it was okay to treat other beings like so because they were told it was okay to do in school.
Students who plan to go into the medical field would do better with human cadavers or any of the non
animal methods. This would more accurately reflect what they would encounter in medical school,
since according to CNN, more than 90 percent of US medical schools have abandoned animal
dissection in their

Markthal Rotterdam And Port City Urban Design
Markthal Rotterdam and Port City Urban Design Rotterdam is known as the Netherlands number one
city for architecture (Groenendijk, 2015, p. 114). It is easy to see why when one considers the
overwhelming number of iconic buildings in the city, and how those individual buildings, while
creating a cohesive city, have managed to and continue to transform Rotterdam. Markthal Rotterdam,
one of the iconic buildings, is an award winning combination of open air market, department store,
shopping centre and residential building. It won the 2016 Rotterdam Architecture Award and the
German Council of Shopping Centres award for European Innovation ( Rotterdamer architekturpreis

8). The idea of completely reconstructing the historical city centre to its previous splendor was
discarded by van Traa and a new spatial layout designed to separate functions and accommodate
traffic was developed (Groenendijk, 2015, p. 8). Nonetheless, the fire line of the German bombing is
still visible due to the difference between the old, nineteenth century buildings and the new, post war
construction (Groenendijk, 2015, p. 18). The Basic Plan for Reconstruction implemented an efficient
traffic plan on an orthogonal grid and the separation of functions was influenced by modernist urban
planning ides. However, the Basic Plan only governed urban planning in Rotterdam until the 1970s
when criticism of the emptiness, lack of housing, and lack of warmth was overwhelming
(Groenendijk, 2015, p. 19). For example, in the book De binnenstadsbeleving en Rotterdam (The
Inner City Experience and Rotterdam), R. Wenholt criticized the reconstruction of Rotterdam in the
late 1960s stating that the inner city failed at providing a vibrant, varied, convivial, pleasant, intimate
city (Meyer, 1999, p.328). The Markthal Rotterdam addresses the criticism of the Basic Plan, although
the outdated Basic Plan didn t directly influence its design, by creating a vibrant welcoming public

Why Is Phineas Gage Lucky
Phineas Gage, Lucky or Unlucky?
Survivors of traumatic brain injury are lucky. Two examples of lucky traumatic brain injury survivors
are Phineas Gage and Gary Busey. These two are lucky along with the other millions of traumatic
brain injury survivors. Phineas Gage and Gary Busey were both lucky because they were given a
second chance at life. In addition both narrowly evaded death. Phineas Gage, a traumatic brain injury
survivor, was lucky. The first reason Phineas Gage was lucky is that the tamping iron that went
through his head took a path that did not kill him. Phineas could have died in over twenty different
ways if the tamping iron had taken a different path through his head. I know this because in the book

Battle Of The Ia Drang Valley
Battle of the Ia Drang Valley The Battle of the Ia Drang Valley was the first major battle of the
Vietnam War that engaged regular forces of the United States Army ushering in a new era of combat.
Air Assault of Artillery and Close Air Support used together for the first time in Vietnam allowed an
agile small force to be successful against a much larger enemy contingency. Operation Silver Bayonet
pitted the Third Brigade of the First Cavalry Division: 1st Battalion and 2nd Battalion of the 7th
Cavalry Regiment, and the 2nd Battalion of the 5th Cavalry Regiment, against a much larger
Vietnamese force to include the People s Army of Vietnam (PAVN) and the Viet Cong guerilla
fighters. The fighting lasted from 14 November to 18 November 1965. Americans today have a
negative view of the Vietnam but in November 1965 the war in Vietnam had just begun and American
opinion of the Vietnam was extremely favorable. The American People agreed upon the idea that if
Vietnam was to fall to Communism, the entire Southeast Asian region was next. North Vietnamese
General Chu Huy Man and his headquarters element planned operations in the central highlands area
of South Vietnam. His objectives were to attack American forces and control the western plateau
consisting of Kontuam, Pleiku, binhdinh, and Phubon Provinces. The campaign began in the fall and
by the end of October 1st Calvary Division was going the offense against General Man s 32n d and

My Love For Medicine
Throughout my life, there have been several important experiences which have influenced my desire
to pursue medicine. These include having a potentially cancerous mole on my ankle at the age of
three, my love for science and academics beginning in elementary school, the desire to help people,
giving back to the community, and to be a role model for others in the pursuit of their own dreams.
Although not one of these experiences in itself led to my pursuit of medicine, I believe they all have
influenced me in a way that compelled me to obtain a greater desire for the study of medicine. Had
one of these memories not existed, I may not be in the same position as I am today with applying to
medical schools. Nonetheless, I have known since a young age that medicine was going to be the right
choice for me, whether through my love of it or through intuition, but there were several memories
along the way that helped solidify this passion. Medicine has always been my plan A and plan B
because it has always intrigued me. Although other professions may seem exciting at times, my love
for science and helping others has made medicine be the right choice for me always. One of my first
memories, and definitely my first medically relevant memory, occurred when I was just three. I
remember going into the dermatologist with my mom to have my moles looked at. As a three year old,
my understanding of dermatology was zero. Well, as we went to the doctor for the first time that I
remember, I

Throughout The Sympathizer, the Author Comments on many world issues, and makes many strong comments on the Vietnam war and Cold war conflicts. The author uses these conflicts to comment on many themes, such as, American corruption, and its use in war, communication, and duality. However, the most important of which are his comments on the theme of Identity. This essay will explore three thematic statements related to the theme identity. This is seen in such forms as political and religious beliefs, or one s behavior. This is commented on multiple times by various characters during the book, as well as being evidenced by the Narrator s actions and change in behavior over the duration of the novel. The Narrator comments on this when he states; I confess after having spent almost my whole life in their (the right wing patriots) company, I cannot help but sympathize with them. (pg.36). Sonny also comments on this saying; What I learned, against my will, is that it s impossible to live among a foreign people and not be changed by them (pg. UNDEFINED). Add some more reasoning. The Narrator during his time taking refuge in america was no longer in personal contact with any communist, and thus showed signs of being affected by the people around him, somewhat losing his loyalties to the communists. The Narrator ultimately feels the bite of this when he, against orders, joins in a patriot raid against the communists, and when caught, spends over a year in a communist re education ... One of the most well known things about Henry VIII was his revolving door of wives. Henry VIII had six wives to be exact Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Kathryn Howard, and Kathrine Parr. While their names aren t first off the tongue, the mention of their husband s ever changing love life will ring a bell. The question is, who were these women? And how were they able to become the wife of the most powerful man in England? King Henry VIII first wife was Catherine of Aragon. Catherine of Aragon was the youngest daughter of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain. According to (six wives of Henry) Cathrine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though Henry was not the object of her affection, her sense of duty persuaded her to marry him (Catherine Parr). Catherine and Henry were married on July 12, 1543 at Hampton Court (Catherine Parr). Catherine was thirty one, well educated and rich ( Henry VIII Biography Page 257). Both she and Henry shared a love for music and conversation (catherine Parr). The king was so pleased with Catherine that he named her Regent of England a year after her marriage (Catherine Parr). Henry VIII s health declined as 1546 went on and Catherine actively cared for him (Catherine Parr). On January 28, 1547 King Henry died and the Queen became Dowager (Catherine Parr). Each one of Henry s six wives stories are all different and unique. Each one with their own injustices. Even with Henry s revolving door of wives he only produced one male heir. This leads some scholars to believe that Henry might have had syphilis due to the amount miscarriages his wives had, and the many sores on his legs (Anne Boleyn). Upon meeting each other we quickly established our guidelines and we were satisfied with our living arrangements. For the first few days we appeared to be doing well, but it was towards the end of the second week that our relationship began to rapidly deteriorate. We began to fight about the smallest of things and it was difficult to be in the room for anything other than to sleep.Whenever we weren t fighting we would take on passive aggressive roles. Looking back on my expierence with Stacy, it is clear that we would have had better handled the situation if we had looked from each other s perspectives. Refelctive Observation As I look back, it is now obvious just how much our feelings were affecting out perspectives. For the most part I was angry that she complained about things that I had previously spoken to her about. My anger caused me to look at her as the enemy and everything she said was heavily scrutinzed. I would activley search for things that would prove that she was my enemy. I had made up my mind about her and there was nothing she could do to change my mind. Stacy on the other hand resented that I would decline her inviations and accepted inviations from my other friends. From her persepctive, it was not that I did not like to go to events , it was that I did not like to go to events with her in particular. She was hurt that I chose others over her and so she would complain about my sleeping habits and accuse me of being anti social. • 5. Jupiter´s Europa Moon Europa is the sixth of Jupiter s moons and the fourth largest. Europa is named after a Phoenician princess who was abducted by Zeus and taken to the island of Crete to be his lover. Europa was discovered by Galileo Galilei and possibly Simon Marius in 1610 and is one of the four Galilean satellites. The others being: Io, Ganymede, and Callisto. Europa is very different from the other moons of Jupiter. Instead of a rocky, cratered surface like Callisto and Ganymede, it instead has a smooth outer surface of cracked ice. There are very few sign of craters on Europa. In fact, only three large craters have been found. This indicates that Europa s surface is very young and active. In photographs sent back by orbiters, the surface resembles sea ice on Earth. Astronomers believe that beneath this layer of ice may exist an ocean, kept liquid by the moon s internal heat. This liquid ocean could be as much as 30 miles deep. The existence of deep ocean vents on the ocean floor on Earth have led some scientists to speculate that there could be a possibility of life on Europa. Around these deep sea vents on Earth are life forms that do not need sunlight to survive. They instead feed on bacteria that get their nutrients from chemicals seeping up from the ocean floor. This process is known as chemosynthesis. Scientists believe that similar life forms could evolve on Europa if a liquid ocean does indeed exist beneath its frozen surface. The most apparent features on Europa are a series ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1994, an 18 year old kid from Miami named Alex Rodriguez broke into spring camp with the Seattle Mariners in an attempt to make the team. After almost immediately stepping into a Major League baseball field he became a household name. Within two years, he was an All Star. Within five, a regular 40 homer player. By the turn of the century, many were already putting him into the Hall of Fame discussion. On August 12, 2016, Rodriguez played what will be his final game as a New York Yankee after an incredible 12 years in New York. Considering the 41 year old s lack of playing time and declining production after a resurgent effort in 2015, this may very well be the end of the A Rod era entirely. And for A Rod, he was prepared to leave the game he fell in love with as a child. I do want to be remembered as someone who was madly in love with the game of baseball, someone who loves it at every level, Rodriguez said. Someone who loves to learn it, play it, teach it, coach it. And also, I m going to be hopefully remembered as someone who tripped and fell a lot, but someone that kept getting up. Rodriguez has led a very controversial 22 year baseball career. His lowest moment being when he was infamously suspended for the entire 2014 season following the Biogenesis investigation. The longest suspension ever served in Major League Baseball history. But his story did not end there. In his 2015 campaign, in an attempt to redeem himself and earn back the love from the fans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We felt this would be the best way to sort through the information so we could best address our objectives. To investigate the motivation behind women buying fine jewellery We decided that it was first best to determine the frequency with which respondents wear jewellery, which gave us an insight into the frequency of jewellery use in the target market (respondents were all females aged 18 50). After discovering that of 38 respondents, 32 wore jewellery every day we were able to determine that the management issue was certainly not with the demographic of MoiMoi s target market. Following on from this, we asked respondents about their preferred method of purchase when purchasing a gift for someone other than themselves. A considerable amount (25/38) said that they would certainly prefer to buy in store when shopping for a gift. The significance of which, for MoiMoi is that in store advertisements would be more effective if associating moissanite with ideas such as the perfect gift . Whereas, web advertisement may be focused more on purchase for one s self. (Q8, Appendix 4.1) Finally, to determine the purchase decision process of the consumer, we asked whether consumers shop around for jewellery when purchasing, or if certain jewels spoke to them . This was asked in order to determine how often jewellery is not researched, but rather as a result of effective marketing instantly sold for all intensive purposes in the eyes of the consumer. The results showed that more often than not, consumers would stumble upon jewels that they had to have. This reinforces the idea that the industry is built entirely on the aesthetic, with gemmological properties having a minimal effect on consumer perception of gems. (Q9, Appendix 4.1) To investigate the attributes considered when buying fine jewellery. To initiate this research objective, we determined that it would be best to ask respondents what they believed to be their most valued product attribute when purchasing fine jewellery. BSE originated from scrapie or Endemic Spongiform Encephalopathy, which is a disease that has affected mostly sheep and goats. BSE is an illness that attacks the brain and spinal cord of adult cattle due to an infection by a transmissible agent known as a prion. Once affected by BSE cattle began to develop strange behavior such as aggression, lack of coordination with the inability to stand or walk, and abnormal posture; hence the name Mad Cow Disease (1). Can BSE be Eradicated A Tough Road Ahead BSE is an extremely rare disease making it a very tough candidate for eradication. This is especially true in humans; while still rare, BSE is much more common in cattle rather than humans. It is also very tough to conduct studies with the rapid progression of the disease and the short lifespan of those infected. Because the cattle commonly infected are vastly spread out between multiple countries, this adds yet another obstacle to overcome when attempting to eradicate BSE in cattle and in return eradicating vCJD in humans. Even with the obvious and difficult complications facing the extermination of this disease the government and scientists have outlined a few ways to slow down the progression and transmittal of BSE (5). What Can Be Done Steps to Eradication Despite the incredibly hard process ahead to eradicate BSE and vCJD here are the steps that have already been put into place to begin the procedure. In July of 1988 a feed ban was introduced as the key animal health control measure. The feed ban is thought to prevent the integration of conceivably infectious material into animal feed for ruminants, and to prevent uninfected cattle from becoming ill. The FDA decided to strengthen the 1988 rule in 1997 and 2008 by barring the use of high risk cattle tissues in all animal feed. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But maybe the fences can be mended. Robbie Sherwood In the past 10 years, many cities across the country have outgrown the planner s expectations. Unfortunately the airports that were built 20 or more years ago, have not grown with the cities. Phoenix has tripled in size in the past 10 years. The tripling of air traffic has not had anywhere to go. The same two runways that have been serving the city since 1935 when the airport was built have been extremely over loaded. If all the sides were looked at, the advantages to having a strong air travel system in a large city far outweigh the drawbacks. When the busiest two runway airport in the world (Phoenix), has to go through 7 years of red tape bureaucracy to get a runway built, something is wrong with the picture. The procedure should be modified so that changes can be made to the facility when it needs to, not 10 years later. The way to get this done is that we need to start an awareness campaign to let our government know what we want. We live with a democratic government, so we should take advantage of it to speak out for something we want. The most effective way of making our congressman aware of the issue is through a writing campaign. We need to write and have our friends write to get the word out that airports are needed. If the rule makers are aware that there are many people that do want aviation, it might speed up the process. Speaking about airport expansion, There are only 3 runways expansion projects in the country right now on the drawing board, Phoenix, Orlando, and Cleveland. The Effects Of Overcrowding Of Emergency Departments The Effects of Overcrowding In Emergency Departments Emergency Departments (ED) are a crucial part of the medical field, because you can receive emergency care 24/7 and 365 days a year. EDs were designed to provide immediate and stabilizing care to patients with medical emergencies (Derlet Richards Kravitz, 2001). The current problem in EDs is overcrowding of patients. The cause of overcrowded EDs is multifactorial, but the main causes are inadequate inpatient capacity, ED closures and a shortage of staff. (Cowan Trzciak 2004). Overcrowding of EDs has lead to longer wait times, ambulance diversions, insufficient care, medical errors, and ultimately the patient safety (Trzeciak Rivers, 2003). The ED closures and decrease in patient beds in hospitals around the nation are the root problem as the overcrowding we see today. From 1990 to 1999, 1128 EDs were closed; although the ED visits had risen 14 percent (Cowan Trzciak 2004). Both of which were hospital cost containment initiatives, and to keep a high census (a full hospital at all times) (Trzeciak Rivers, 2003). • 34. Epic Theatre By Bertolt Brecht Bertolt Brecht was the pioneer of a new style of theatre, epic theatre. Epic theatre differentiates itself from Bertolt s previous influences by presenting a series of loosely connected scenes that avoid illusion and often interrupt the story line to address the audience directly with analysis, argument, or documentation. He sought to remind the spectator that the play is an illustration of the playwright s point of view rather than a slice from reality. This made audiences react with curiousity and participate in a dialogical argument criticising their own life and what they could do to change it rather than an emotional and empathic response that accepts events in the play as a slice of reality, accepted as the norm. He wanted his audiences to adopt a critical perspective in order to recognise social injustice and to go forth and transform the reality. Bertolt utilised specific techniques to intentionally disillusion the audience throughout the play. One of the main techniques that Bertolt utilised was exposing the construction and mechanisms of theatre to the audience. By emphasizing the spectator s awareness of the methods of its production, his shows aimed to expose the contradictions between the characters ideology and purpose. Such techniques included flooding the stage with harsh white light, regardless of where the action was taking place, and leaving the stage lamps in full view of the audience; making use of minimal props and indicative scenery; intentionally ... Richard used multiple film techniques to help the viewers understand how the characters are feeling, their relationships with other characters and what their personality is like. These techniques include camera shots, costume, and lighting, and they were helpful to create a theme of perseverance. In one scene, room 203 is spending a lot of time to raise money so Miep Gies, an elderly lady who lived through World War II and helped hide Anne Frank, can come visit them. After a dance concert and a bake sale, both of which were very popular, they had raised enough for Gies to travel to America. During their struggle to fundraise, Margaret the head teacher would continuously complain to the principle that they shouldn t be able to do so, to no avail. When Miep arrives, students have created a big, bright sign, welcoming her to their school, and they all listen with rapt attention as she tells them her experience in the war. A tracking shot was used as Margaret marched to the principal s office three times and the camera followed her as she moved. A tracking shot attracts the audience s attention to what the camera is focusing on, which in this case is Margaret. • 46. Why Is Phineas Gage Lucky Phineas Gage, Lucky or Unlucky? Survivors of traumatic brain injury are lucky. Two examples of lucky traumatic brain injury survivors are Phineas Gage and Gary Busey. These two are lucky along with the other millions of traumatic brain injury survivors. Phineas Gage and Gary Busey were both lucky because they were given a second chance at life. In addition both narrowly evaded death. Phineas Gage, a traumatic brain injury survivor, was lucky. The first reason Phineas Gage was lucky is that the tamping iron that went through his head took a path that did not kill him. Phineas could have died in over twenty different ways if the tamping iron had taken a different path through his head. I know this because in the book Phineas Gage it states ... These include having a potentially cancerous mole on my ankle at the age of three, my love for science and academics beginning in elementary school, the desire to help people, giving back to the community, and to be a role model for others in the pursuit of their own dreams. Although not one of these experiences in itself led to my pursuit of medicine, I believe they all have influenced me in a way that compelled me to obtain a greater desire for the study of medicine. Had one of these memories not existed, I may not be in the same position as I am today with applying to medical schools. Nonetheless, I have known since a young age that medicine was going to be the right choice for me, whether through my love of it or through intuition, but there were several memories along the way that helped solidify this passion. Medicine has always been my plan A and plan B because it has always intrigued me. Although other professions may seem exciting at times, my love for science and helping others has made medicine be the right choice for me always. One of my first memories, and definitely my first medically relevant memory, occurred when I was just three. I remember going into the dermatologist with my mom to have my moles looked at. As a three year old, my understanding of dermatology was zero. Well, as we went to the doctor for the first time that I remember, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
