The Ocean Research Paper
Since the Ocean is the largest biome in the world, the climate is from 40 degrees fahrenheit to more
than 100 degrees. The average temperature is 39 degrees fahrenheit, but it is much warmer near the
Equator where the sun rays can hit the ocean and make it warmer. The coldest is in the North and the
South Poles where the water is close to freezing, also known as glaciers, because sunlight isn t directly
hitting it with it s sun rays. The ocean can also be harsh, because of ocean currents. The ocean currents
create big hurricanes and typhoons. Although the climate can ve extreme it has little effect on life.
Most life forms have adapted to the ocean. Plants have also adapted to deep places where sunlight

There are thousands and thousands of animals that live in the ocean. Some of them have gills to help

Executive Order On Immigration
The U.S. has always being considered the land of opportunities. Back in my home country
opportunities were very scarce, which led to my family immigrating to the U.S. for a better future.
Having had firsthand experience in the immigration transition system, it has been captivating to hear
in the news about the Executive Order Obama issued on November 20, 2014. Seeing families getting
separated, violence raising in the Mexican border, and the increasing Latin population in the U.S.
signaled the need for this Executive Order in immigrant communities. Even though the Constitution
states that Congress has the duty of writing our Nation s laws, President Obama declared an Executive
Order on Immigration. It is believed to be a political boom for ... Show more content on

Phoenix Simulation Essay 2017
Although the Saturday at Phoenix Simulation was full of fun, friends, and imaginative stations, there
was no other station that represented the hallmark of days that changed the world than Camp Feenicks,
with the greatest attention to detail and simple objective while managing to emphasize this year s
theme.
There was only one thing that everyone noticed as we walked through the Black Box Theater: this
camp looked like the real deal! The dim lighting and ambient sounds of river flow and crickets
through the surround sound speakers gave us the sensation of a peaceful night out under the stars. This
was combined with a crackling fire meticulously strung together with sticks, vibrant construction

As Sun Tzu once said, Know your enemy and know yourself and in a hundred battles you will never
be in peril . Statistically, there was only a minuscule chance of unanimously voting out the werewolf
tent. However, if you were not afraid to ask questions, analyze the characteristics of the other groups,
and use rhetoric to persuade others to follow in your footsteps, then you were the best suited to
complete the task. Every new day was a day that changed the world or, in this case, the camp and it
relied on the cooperation and deductive reasoning of each of the tents to decide on which tent smelled
of a little more werewolf than the others. Camp Feenicks, therefore, suggested that you must seek
knowledge before making decisions because every move you make will have a significant impact on
the future. This global connection to theme as well demonstrated in the story was the final reason why

Comparison Between Roman And Roman Civilization

Since Roman Civilization Rome itself is highly recognized for its most notorious dynasties of all the

Hermeneutics Percer
Dr. Leo Percer in his video presentation gave an excellent definition of Hermeneutics. He articulated
that hermeneutics was an art and science of biblical interpretation. My thoughts concur with his, and
in addition, hermeneutics could also be an in depth comprehension of biblical interpretation that
relinquish the apprehension of one s thoughts and focus mainly on how was the text develop through
the intellect of the author. The role of author as stated by Dr. Percer is the Supreme. Nothing can be
interpreted from the Bible without first engaging in research to determine what were the motivating
factors involved that thrust him to write the text, or what was the anticipated outcome that the author
wanted the readers to obtain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion the environment detects the emotions and through our emotions, thoughts are develop

adds, The aim of good interpretation is simple: to get at the plain meaning of the text...Correct
interpretation, therefore, brings relief to the mind as well as a prick or prod to the heart. 3 I grew up in
a church that the author s interpretation was not stress, simply stated, the Scripture would be read and
the preacher would use life experiences to support his premise. Stuart rebuttal this argument by
stating, The first task of the interpreter is called exegesis. This involves the careful, systematic study
of the Scripture to discover the original, intended meaning. 4 In brief, Scripture is God s Word, and he

America s Financial System For The Housing Market
I. Introduction In 2008 America s financial system was brought to a stand still as decades of
negligence and financial decisions caused our economy to sink into the worst recession since the great
depression. Cultivating a problem worse than America has seen in roughly a century points one finger
not at a particular cause, but a string of events that finally gave way. Now, eight years later our
economy is still recovering, and time has allowed us to look back at decades of mistakes to try and
connect the dots of the perfect storm that collapsed our financial market in 2008. In 2009 Brookings
Institution, one of Washington s oldest think tanks, concluded there were three causes that resulted in
the crisis. Economists Martin Baily and Douglas Elliot stated that the results of government
intervention in the housing market, the influences Wall Street had on Washington, and global
economic forces were the three main causes of the economic collapse. They believed that a housing
bubble inflated when Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two government sponsored enterprises, intervened
in the housing market. The banking industry was called out to be blamed for years of manipulation of
our political and financial systems. Lastly, Baily and Elliot cite the global economy and the existence
of a credit boom throughout European and Asian nations. Low inflation and consistent growth
throughout the world economy spiked investors interest in acquiring riskier investments, which

Response To Plato s Apology
Plato s Apology is a written dialogue of Socrates and the court in which he is on trial. Socrates is
accused of corrupting the youth with his radical ideas about life as well as being impious and not
believing in the Gods. Throughout the dialogue, Socrates reveals that he has some strong opinions
regarding death and harm. In this paper, I will show that, based on the Apology, Socrates will agree
that Shelly has harmed Audrey and that Audrey would be wrong to fear her own death. I will also use
various parts of his dialogue on death and harm to support my thoughts as to why he would think that.
I will then conclude with my argument as to why I think Shelly has harmed Audrey.
To begin, I think that Socrates would believe that Shelly has harmed ... Show more content on

In the Apology, he says, To fear death, gentlemen, is no other than to think oneself wise when one is
not, to think one knows what one does not know. No one knows whether death may not be the greatest
of all blessings for a man, yet men fear it as if they knew that it is the greatest of evils. And surely it is
the most blameworthy ignorance to believe that one knows what one does not know, (Lines 29 a b).
Socrates is trying to say that in order to fear something, you must have some knowledge of what it is
like. As another example, Socrates may say something like if you have never gone swimming in a
pool, you should not fear a pool because you do not know what it is like . In his opinion death could
be a wonderful thing. In the quote above, Socrates says, No one knows whether death may not be the
greatest of all blessings for a man, (Lines 29 a b). His argument is that death could be even more
wonderful than life; it s just that people do not know about it enough. If Audrey were to fear death, she
would be claiming that she knows something about death and according to Socrates, only the superior
beings, whether they be Gods or man, know about death. She is also making an assumption that death
is something to be feared. So if Audrey fears death, she will no longer be virtuous because she will be
making assumptions about things of which she has no prior knowledge. That is, in Socrates eyes,

Should Police Use Deadly Force Research Paper
Should police be able to use deadly force? Deadly force is used by an officer, to defend themselves
from life threatening assault against other people. Police must protect themselves and others as a
citizen they serve. It may not happen as much as we think, but in certain incidents, there are times it is
used (Williams, 1999). My opinion about deadly force is there is a right time to use it and a wrong
way. The right way to me is when police enter a situation in gunfire being exchanged between an
officer and a person the officer is then at risk of losing his life and to protect anyone around and the
officer, then deadly force must then take place. Basically, as soon a person was to open fire on an
officer I believe the officer would then have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, if he is not tied in with others, still may go and commit dangerous crimes and put everyone
at danger. When using deadly force, we save an officers life and stopped a criminal from hurting
others (Williams, 1996). My opinion in using deadly force the wrong way is when an officer is
chasing someone and they shoot them point blank. I do not agree with that as the person is running to
get away from the problem, as there are other things that could be done such as tazered the person to
get them to fall down a resist. I just feel you must know how to act accordingly with each different
situation to protect yourself and the other around, because when you go to court to convict the
defendant to charge them you must have done the right thing and evidence of it to back it up. The
police deal with people every day, who seem to kill. When officers are forced to use deadly force, they
become scared. The police avoid deadly force at all cost. When they do fire they first shoot into the
air, missing the target on purpose. This happens so the person will hopefully become scared and will
put the weapon down (Williams, 1999). Police must be quick and alert when dealing with a deadly
force situation. The police must do and choose the right choices when dealing with a situation,
because if they do anything unethical can receive jail time or even get

Next 11 Research Paper
The purpose of this research paper is to take an in depth investigation of a topic related to international
economics. After taking an in depth investigation of What and Who is the Next 11 we will be able to
describe in full an overview of the next 11, differences between next 11 and BRIC, current consumer
trends, N11 business environments, potential drawbacks, and future scenarios. We will have a full
understanding of what defines the Next 11, what composes them and why they are who they are.
First of all who and what are the Next 11. The Next Eleven, known also as N 11, is a term coined by
Goldman Sachs in late 2005 to represent the eleven countries it thought could potentially have a BRIC
like impact in rivaling in the G7 nations. The N11 countries are Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran,
South Korea, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Turkey and Vietnam. Although varied both
geographically and economically, these 11 nations have highlights in like manner that are accepted to
single out their high financial potential.
All have extensive and developing populations. Between 1980 and 2008, population development was
most noteworthy in Pakistan at 110.8%, with the least being in South Korea, with 28.4% period
development;
Of the N11 countries, Indonesia had the largest population as of January 2008, with 228.9 million
people, while South Korea had the smallest at 47.6 million;

Babysitter At Rest Psychology
The term male gaze coined by Laura Mulvey in her essay Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema,
draws attention to the role of females in films where women are objectified for the male spectator.
Objectification Theory by Barbara Fredrickson and Tomi Ann Roberts agree that sexual gazing is what
enables sexual objectification. Jean George The Babysitter at Rest, explores the consequences one
might encounter as a result of the male gaze. Through her relentless encounter with her lover and boss,
Tyler Burnett. However, Chris Kraus flips the narrative in I Love Dick as she returns the gaze by

The Great Train Robbery Silent Film Analysis
The Great Train Robbery was one of the earliest silent films, made in 1903. The film begins with two
masked robbers bursting into a railroad station office, and binding and gagging the railway dispatcher.
From the very beginning The Great Train Robbery is off to a dramatic start. It instantly engages the
viewer. A person viewing this film for the first time in 1903 would have been hooked from the start.
The film is about twelve minutes long and has a fully developed narrative and distinguishable
character types: robbers, posse members, railway workers and supporting characters.
The robbers motives are obvious from the start. After forcing the dispatcher to give a false note to the
conductor, the dispatcher is knocked out and, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

audience would have been surprised and delighted at the colored tints seen throughout the film

While two of the robbers have been robbing one car, another robber holds the engineer at gunpoint. A
fourth robber struggles with another man, who grabs a shovel for defense and climbs on top of the
train. They engage in a fist fight the robber takes a lump of coal and strikes the man on the head
several times until he is unconscious. Then after overpowering him, he hurls the victim s body off the

The Great Train Robbery maintains a simple plot but interestingly does not spare on violence as there
are several shootouts, many men are killed violently, as we see with the man bludgeoned with a piece
of coal. Viewers of the time were probably very surprised at the level of violence and the use of the
special effect dummy being thrown off the train must have been shocking but at the same time added
immense entertainment value to the film.
The train conductor is forced off the train and made to uncouple the locomotive from the rest of the
passenger cars. The passengers are also forced to leave the train. All of the passengers are lined up

The Derivatives Of Cellulose
Cellulose is a well known carbohydrate that is currently being impressively utilized within the food
industry. Derivatives of cellulose, can be used to improve texture, to act as edible microcomposite
films, and to provide antibacterial packaging. Some cellulose derivatives are carboxymethyl cellulose,
microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose, and microfibrillated cellulose (Belitz et
al. 2009).
Cellulose is a polysaccharide derived from plant cell walls that is digestible by the enzyme cellulase
(Belitz et al. 2009). Humans can not digest cellulose because cellulase is not present in the digestive
tract, however this indigestible carbohydrate is a major component of dietary fiber and improves
digestion (Belitz et al. 2009). On the other hand, herbivores have rumen microflora that can hydrolyze
cellulose (Belitz et al. 2009).
Cellulose consists of a flat and linear structure containing hydrogen bonds that form polycrystalline
fiber bundles (Huber and BeMiller 2017). There are repeating glucopyranosyl units bound by 14
glycosidic linkages which form pleated chains parallel to the direction of the fibers (Belitz et al.
2009). The source of the cellulose affects the degree of polymerization which can range from 1000 to
14000 (Belitz et al. 2009). The hydrogen bonds that stabilize the parallel chains cause cellulose to
have a high molecular weight and be insoluble in water, however it can be modified to become water
soluble gums (Huber and BeMiller 2017).

The Importance Of Totem Poles In The North West America
Totem Poles are not just for show, but for other very important things. There are three important
reasons why Totem Poles are important. Those three reasons are 1) it showed spiritual significance, 2)

pitch their business ideas to real investors and get incredible feedback. However, over time, the
location of the competitions, the people competing in the competitions, the robustness of business
plans, and the outcome of the competition have changed. These four factors affect each other and have
changed how people go about growing as entrepreneurs. 2.1 Business Plan Competition Locations
More and more business plan competitions have been popping up all over the world in the past ten
years. A 2006 survey of 2,100 universities by the Kauffman Foundation shows that 16 percent of
universities were offering business plan competitions around the world; so today in 2016 I am sure
that percentage has increased (Leffel and Hallum 2008). The United States has some of the better
known business plan competitions, such as the Rhode Island Business Plan Competition. While many
are open to international entrepreneurs, most depend on one s location or affiliation to a university
which is limiting. However, in the middle is the Rhode Island Business Plan Competition where
applicants can be from wherever, but all applicants must agree to establish substantial operations in

Life Through My Eyes By Tupac Essay
Life Through My Eyes is a poem written by Tupac Shakur. Tupac was born in East Harlem,
Manhattan New York and named Lesane Parish Crooks until he later adopted the stage name Tupac
Amaru Shakur. For most of his childhood, Tupac lived with his mother and half sisters in a poverty
stricken neighbourhood. The family moved around to various homeless shelters and places of refuge
in New York City for a large portion of Tupac s life. As a result of his frequent relocation, Tupac had
very few friends which moved him to find other sources of entertainment such as writing poetry and
diary entries. Life Through My Eyes is a narrative/lyric poem that tells a story about Tupac s life. In
this poem, Tupac reveals to the reader the type of environment he was exposed to, the pain it brought
and the positive outlook he had on his situation. The poem is an illustration of the lifestyle he was
raised by for the majority of his life, in the projects. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the reader. This poem is a simple rhyming 12 bar poem told from the perspective of Tupac, it s

The Negative Aspects Of Living In A Disposable Society
It is a fact that disposable society is beneficial to a country since it can lead to innovation which
improves living standard. Is it undoubtedly a curse to live in a disposable society? What are the
negative aspects of living in a disposable society? According to one author, Throwing away... may
soon lead us to feel that marriages are throw away items as well and...on a global scale countries
(Slade 228). Perhaps it is a curse to live in a disposable society because of cost, environmental and
social problems. If people live in a disposable society, they will find it a curse because they will face
cost problems. In particular, individuals are unfortunate to live in a consumerist society since they will
have expenditure problems. First of all, people decrease their cell phone life cycle as they replace their
phone with a newer model. If individuals saw there is an advertiser about the newest model with a

Have you traveled or studied abroad before? I have made it a point in my life to learn as much as I can
through traveling the globe. From the age of one I have been traveling to Canada, but the boarder is
only four hours away. At the age of fourteen I began to travel and experience other cultures. This
complete changed my life. I went to OchoRios, Jamaica, with Project Timothy and volunteered at a

volunteered at two children s Orphanage and feeding houses in Bluefields, Nicaragua. I have traveled
to Bermuda with my family. Just last December I also stayed in the United Kingdom for a month on
my own. In January of this year I went on a European Union trip, on this trip I went to London, Paris,
Somme, Versailles, Berlin, Brussels, and Luxembourg. This was a four credit class about the European
Union and politics. Traveling is something I love to do and my favorite way to learn about life, myself
and my studies. Describe yourself I never define myself by a few words nor a group. I have always

The Learning And Use Of The Foreign Language
Nigeria s geographical position where she is surrounded by francophone neighbors such as Chad,
Republic du Benin and Cameroon calls for a functional knowledge of French. With the knowledge of
French, Nigeria and her Francophone neighbors would be able to work together locally and
internationally. This however can only be achieved if there is communicative proficiency on the part
of the citizens. Without this, Nigeria will be linguistically, politically, educationally and socially
isolated from her francophone neighbors. This realization informed certain provisions guiding
language study in Nigeria education system.
The learning and use of the foreign language is not only peculiar to Nigeria. It is a worldwide
phenomenon. Early bilingual education was advocated by the Renaissance humanists but in more
recent times, international organizations are reiterating that position and giving it a broader
application. In 1993, a forum of United Nation s Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization
(UNESCO) experts hoping to build a world that will be rid of many conflicts tearing it apart proposed
that the education of the young people must include exposure to plurality of languages. Learning to
communicate in a foreign language has long been recognized as an essential ingredient of a liberal
education. Furthermore, in this age of globalization and interdependence that the world is becoming a

The Collapse Of The Ottoman Empire
Introduction
The Ottoman empire was a mighty empire that ruled form 1299 1918. With its humble beginnings in
the 12th century to become the most powerful empire in Europe the 16th century under the caliph
Suleiman the magnificent, however like all empires the Ottomans reached a stage of stagnation.
Although the Ottomans collapsed at the end of WW1, the main factors contributing the collapse begun
in the 17th century where the Ottoman empire s gradual process of decline started.
This essay will explore the most notable factors that contributed to the collapse of the Ottoman
empire. Beginning with the political situation in the 17th century and the attempted solution to solve
the issue of succession which at times crippled the empire. The economic decline which went parallel
with the political one with the empire no longer able to attain its wealth form the military expeditions
and the influx of silver from Europe casing the inflation issues leading to the capitalisations with the
European nations. The factor of the religious and social situation in the 19th century and its effects on
the central government and the empires minorities. The rise of nationalism throughout Europe which
made its way to the Ottoman empire ensuring its destruction.
Paragraph 1
One of the major factors that contributed to the collapse of the ottoman Empire was the issue of
succession within the empire. Since the birth of the Ottoman Empire, the sultan was the central figure
having to make decisions in all aspects of the empire from military, economic and political decisions.
The Ottoman empire was a dynasty so whenever the sultan had died one of the sons will take charge
of the throne, the sons of the sultan will serve as governors within the empire gaining the required
experience needed to take the pivotal role of the sultan. in most cases the successor was chosen by the
sultan before his death however when this was not done it caused some problems as to who will take
charge of the throne. After the father had died often the sons would fight bloody civil wars as to who
will take power crippling the empire.
Seeking to solve this devastating problem Sultan Ahmad I (Sultan from 1603 1617) proposed solution.

Tuberculosis Essay
Tuberculosis
Forms of tuberculosis have been present in the human population since ancient times. Fragments of
spinal columns from Egyptian mummies dating back to 2400 BC show definite pathological signs of
tubercular decay. Around 460 BC Hippocrates wrote on the subject of a disease which we now know
as tuberculosis. In his article he warned his colleagues against visiting cases in the late stages of the
disease, because the patient s inevitable death might damage the reputations of the attending
physicians. The world s population remained totally defenseless to the lethal effects of tuberculosis for
thousands of years. Then, around the 17th century scientists began to hypothesize about the nature of

tuberculosis. In the 19th century Hermann Brehmer, a Silesian botany student whom was suffering

the Himalayan mountains mainly to pursue his botanical studies. What he didn t know at the time was
that this journey would be attributed to curing his disease. When Brehmer returned home he began to
study medicine. In 1854, he wrote his dissertation titled, Tuberculosis is a Curable Disease. He
hypothesized that his recovery was directly related to the healthier environment found in the
Himalayan mountains. Brehmer built an institution in Gorbersdorf where his patients received a
nutritious diet and spent great amounts of time on their balconies where they were exposed to
continuous fresh air. This clinic was the first step towards the development of a sanatorium. Sanatoria,
could now be found throughout Europe and the United States. A sanatorium provided two functions.

The Main Obstacles to Peace There has been violence in the Middle East for the past 60 years, and
there still seems to be no hope of a compromise between the Palestinians and the Israelis. In order for
a peace settlement to work, both sides must agree to it, and must overcome the four main barriers
which stand in the way. They must reach a compromise over the city of Jerusalem, showing it should
be controlled by both peoples because of the joint history between them, the attitudes and expectations
should try to be fulfilled, which would destroy the extremist movements on both sides of the conflict,

The Jews recently have begun settlement building in the West Bank, encouraged by Ariel Sharon, (he
was the housing minister in the 1970 s but now the Prime Minister). Today around 400,000 Israelis
live illegally on the Palestinian lands, despite Resolution 242 passed 30 years ago making the
occupation of the West Bank and Gaza strip illegal. This is why most terrorism happens in these areas,
in order to scare the Israelis into defeat. A Recent example of this was in October 2003 when the
Israelis launched a tender for the construction of 550 new homes in the Jewish section of the West
Bank there was much protest from the moderate Palestinians but very soon there was a huge increase
in the violence on the West Bank. Therefore, since any compromise involves one side giving up or not
getting enough of the land they both see as rightfully belonging entirely to them, any peace deal will
inevitably leave both the Israelis and the Palestinians unhappy. The Second barriers to peace are the
extremists on both sides in this conflict. These people want 100% of the land and wouldn t be happy
with anything less than the whole of Palestine to themselves. Both the Palestinian and Israeli Prime

Rudkus and Ona Lukoszaite having to move to America after Ona s father passed away which left
them with little money, Jurgis decided to move his and Ona s family to Chicago from Lithuania to

The story opens up with Jurgis and Ona at their wedding feast in an area of Chicago known as

What Is The Similarities Between The Scarface And The...
I. Introduction
Scarface is a crime drama film that is famously known for being one of the most violent and profanes
films during its time of release. Focusing on the rise of Tony Montana (Al Pacino) on the criminal
ladder and becoming more psychotic as his career as the leader of his drug empire progresses, leading
to his eventual downfall. Directed by Brian de Palma, written by Oliver Stone and with performance
of the cast with the lead Al Pacino, Scarface became a cult classic among the masses.
The Godfather is a mob film focuses on the Corleone Family, with its head Vito Corleone (Marlon
Brando) trying to find a suitable heir to his empire, while war is breathing down the neck of other
crime families. Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) then steps in to organize the family back to shape.
Directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based from the novel of the same name written by Mario Puzo.
It received critical acclaim by critics and was cited as an influence by real life mobsters due to its
rather realistic portrayal of gangster life and Cosa Nostra.
Even with the similarities of theme, both movies have a parallel between how it portrays itself, and it
further widens the gap due to its difference of timelines.

Wildlife Corridor Essay
Abstract
Proponents of the wildlife corridor concept suggest that by connecting otherwise isolated portions of
habitat, species benefit through gaining access to a larger gene pool, thus increasing their chances of
reproductive success. Despite the popularisation of this idea over the last several decades, a lack of
long term scientific research has led some to question this assumption.
Factors including the territorial, mating and migration behaviours of individual species of animal as
well as the lengths and breadths of corridors are all assumed to influence the effect of a corridor
individually. As such, a specific corridor may assist in defragmenting the population of one species,
but may not affect another in any significant way.
The vast tracts of land required by wildlife corridors make a considered assessment of their assumed
benefits an absolute necessity.
Introduction
The following paper aims to critique assumptions commonly made about wildlife corridors and to
assess claims that they make a significant impact to the defragmentation of wildlife populations.
Information from a variety of sources will be assessed in terms of its accuracy and relevance in an
attempt to determine if wildlife corridors are an effective method to increase localised biodiversity
levels. After key evidence both in favour against the concept has been presented, any relevant ideas
will be synthesised into a recommendation made at the end of the paper.

The book Street of Crocodiles is a series of short stories depicting the life of a small family and the
town they live in. These short stories are in no chronological order, but develop intense imagery
throughout the entire novel. One of the most prominent characters of the book is the Father, who
seems to be crazy. The father goes on a rollercoaster of emotions and ideas into an uncontrollable
descent into insanity throughout the stories, altering the ways in which reality seems to be. In a couple
of these chapters the author, Bruno Schulz, develops the character of the father through imagery that
helps show how his reality is shifted between something human and something a little more
animalistic.
In the chapter Birds, the father is beginning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of the chapter, the father is no longer with the family because he had apparently died.
The only thing left of the father is a stuffed bird from his previous craze which happened to be the
condor. Its coat of feathers was in many places moth eaten...its eyes had fallen out and sawdust
scattered from the washed out tear stained sockets (73, Schulz). This description of the dead bird
relates to the late father because in many ways the father was battered and somewhat lifeless at times.
However other times he was vibrant and full of ideas which the condor also represented by its
powerful beak and the bald neck that gave its senile head a solemnly hieratic air (73, Schulz). Before
the father s disappearance, the house the family lives in became infested with cockroaches. To try and
kill the little creatures he would leap from one chair to another with a javelin (75, Schulz) in his hands
stabbing at the ground while emitting screams of terror (75, Schulz). In a sense he had grown wild (75,
Schulz) attempting to rid the house of the invasion. His hatred for the cockroaches created a permeant
petrified tragic mask (75, Schulz) on his face and the constant anticipation of a cockroach running by
made the father go perpetually insane. He could no longer resist the intense loathing for the
cockroaches causing him to fall prey to madness and become completely subjected to it (75, Schulz).
This shows how the fathers reality has been completely altered to the point of insanity, he can no
longer go about normal human activities because of his uncontrollable need to kill the cockroaches.
Still he fought to obtain the reality he is losing ever so quickly, but eventually he lost the sense of who
he is and control over his own body. Finally, one night he lay on the floor naked, stained with black
totem spots, the lines of his ribs

  • 2. The Ocean Research Paper Since the Ocean is the largest biome in the world, the climate is from 40 degrees fahrenheit to more than 100 degrees. The average temperature is 39 degrees fahrenheit, but it is much warmer near the Equator where the sun rays can hit the ocean and make it warmer. The coldest is in the North and the South Poles where the water is close to freezing, also known as glaciers, because sunlight isn t directly hitting it with it s sun rays. The ocean can also be harsh, because of ocean currents. The ocean currents create big hurricanes and typhoons. Although the climate can ve extreme it has little effect on life. Back in my home country opportunities were very scarce, which led to my family immigrating to the U.S. for a better future. Having had firsthand experience in the immigration transition system, it has been captivating to hear in the news about the Executive Order Obama issued on November 20, 2014. Seeing families getting separated, violence raising in the Mexican border, and the increasing Latin population in the U.S. signaled the need for this Executive Order in immigrant communities. Even though the Constitution states that Congress has the duty of writing our Nation s laws, President Obama declared an Executive Order on Immigration. It is believed to be a political boom for ... There was only one thing that everyone noticed as we walked through the Black Box Theater: this camp looked like the real deal! Every new day was a day that changed the world or, in this case, the camp and it relied on the cooperation and deductive reasoning of each of the tents to decide on which tent smelled of a little more werewolf than the others. Camp Feenicks, therefore, suggested that you must seek knowledge before making decisions because every move you make will have a significant impact on the future. • 7. America s Financial System For The Housing Market I. Introduction In 2008 America s financial system was brought to a stand still as decades of negligence and financial decisions caused our economy to sink into the worst recession since the great depression. Cultivating a problem worse than America has seen in roughly a century points one finger not at a particular cause, but a string of events that finally gave way. Now, eight years later our economy is still recovering, and time has allowed us to look back at decades of mistakes to try and connect the dots of the perfect storm that collapsed our financial market in 2008. In 2009 Brookings Institution, one of Washington s oldest think tanks, concluded there were three causes that resulted in the crisis. Economists Martin Baily and Douglas Elliot stated that the results of government intervention in the housing market, the influences Wall Street had on Washington, and global economic forces were the three main causes of the economic collapse. They believed that a housing bubble inflated when Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two government sponsored enterprises, intervened in the housing market. The banking industry was called out to be blamed for years of manipulation of our political and financial systems. Lastly, Baily and Elliot cite the global economy and the existence of a credit boom throughout European and Asian nations. Socrates is accused of corrupting the youth with his radical ideas about life as well as being impious and not believing in the Gods. Throughout the dialogue, Socrates reveals that he has some strong opinions regarding death and harm. In this paper, I will show that, based on the Apology, Socrates will agree that Shelly has harmed Audrey and that Audrey would be wrong to fear her own death. I will also use various parts of his dialogue on death and harm to support my thoughts as to why he would think that. I will then conclude with my argument as to why I think Shelly has harmed Audrey. In the Apology, he says, To fear death, gentlemen, is no other than to think oneself wise when one is not, to think one knows what one does not know. No one knows whether death may not be the greatest of all blessings for a man, yet men fear it as if they knew that it is the greatest of evils. And surely it is the most blameworthy ignorance to believe that one knows what one does not know, (Lines 29 a b). Socrates is trying to say that in order to fear something, you must have some knowledge of what it is like. As another example, Socrates may say something like if you have never gone swimming in a pool, you should not fear a pool because you do not know what it is like . In his opinion death could be a wonderful thing. In the quote above, Socrates says, No one knows whether death may not be the greatest of all blessings for a man, (Lines 29 a b). His argument is that death could be even more wonderful than life; it s just that people do not know about it enough. If Audrey were to fear death, she would be claiming that she knows something about death and according to Socrates, only the superior beings, whether they be Gods or man, know about death. She is also making an assumption that death is something to be feared. So if Audrey fears death, she will no longer be virtuous because she will be making assumptions about things of which she has no prior knowledge. That is, in Socrates eyes, highly ... Deadly force is used by an officer, to defend themselves from life threatening assault against other people. Police must protect themselves and others as a citizen they serve. It may not happen as much as we think, but in certain incidents, there are times it is used (Williams, 1999). My opinion about deadly force is there is a right time to use it and a wrong way. The right way to me is when police enter a situation in gunfire being exchanged between an officer and a person the officer is then at risk of losing his life and to protect anyone around and the officer, then deadly force must then take place. However, if he is not tied in with others, still may go and commit dangerous crimes and put everyone at danger. When using deadly force, we save an officers life and stopped a criminal from hurting others (Williams, 1996). My opinion in using deadly force the wrong way is when an officer is chasing someone and they shoot them point blank. I do not agree with that as the person is running to get away from the problem, as there are other things that could be done such as tazered the person to get them to fall down a resist. I just feel you must know how to act accordingly with each different situation to protect yourself and the other around, because when you go to court to convict the defendant to charge them you must have done the right thing and evidence of it to back it up. The police deal with people every day, who seem to kill. When officers are forced to use deadly force, they become scared. The police avoid deadly force at all cost. When they do fire they first shoot into the air, missing the target on purpose. This happens so the person will hopefully become scared and will put the weapon down (Williams, 1999). Derivatives of cellulose, can be used to improve texture, to act as edible microcomposite films, and to provide antibacterial packaging. Some cellulose derivatives are carboxymethyl cellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose, and microfibrillated cellulose (Belitz et al. 2009). Cellulose is a polysaccharide derived from plant cell walls that is digestible by the enzyme cellulase (Belitz et al. 2009). Humans can not digest cellulose because cellulase is not present in the digestive tract, however this indigestible carbohydrate is a major component of dietary fiber and improves digestion (Belitz et al. 2009). On the other hand, herbivores have rumen microflora that can hydrolyze cellulose (Belitz et al. 2009). Cellulose consists of a flat and linear structure containing hydrogen bonds that form polycrystalline fiber bundles (Huber and BeMiller 2017). There are repeating glucopyranosyl units bound by 14 glycosidic linkages which form pleated chains parallel to the direction of the fibers (Belitz et al. 2009). The source of the cellulose affects the degree of polymerization which can range from 1000 to 14000 (Belitz et al. 2009). The hydrogen bonds that stabilize the parallel chains cause cellulose to have a high molecular weight and be insoluble in water, however it can be modified to become water soluble gums (Huber and BeMiller 2017). ... In his article he warned his colleagues against visiting cases in the late stages of the disease, because the patient s inevitable death might damage the reputations of the attending physicians. The world s population remained totally defenseless to the lethal effects of tuberculosis for thousands of years. Then, around the 17th century scientists began to hypothesize about the nature of the disease and began to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marten s insight proved to be another enormous step towards the understanding and prevention of tuberculosis. In the 19th century Hermann Brehmer, a Silesian botany student whom was suffering from tuberculosis, was instructed by his physician to move to a healthier climate. Brehmer traveled to the Himalayan mountains mainly to pursue his botanical studies. What he didn t know at the time was that this journey would be attributed to curing his disease. When Brehmer returned home he began to study medicine. In 1854, he wrote his dissertation titled, Tuberculosis is a Curable Disease. He hypothesized that his recovery was directly related to the healthier environment found in the Himalayan mountains. Brehmer built an institution in Gorbersdorf where his patients received a nutritious diet and spent great amounts of time on their balconies where they were exposed to continuous fresh air. This clinic was the first step towards the development of a sanatorium. Sanatoria, could now be found throughout Europe and the United States. A sanatorium provided two functions. They isolated the ill from the rest of the public while enforcing rest and a healthy diet. Tuberculosis is caused by an organism called Mycobacterium ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Essay on The Main Obstacles to Peace The Main Obstacles to Peace There has been violence in the Middle East for the past 60 years, and there still seems to be no hope of a compromise between the Palestinians and the Israelis. In order for a peace settlement to work, both sides must agree to it, and must overcome the four main barriers which stand in the way. They must reach a compromise over the city of Jerusalem, showing it should be controlled by both peoples because of the joint history between them, the attitudes and expectations should try to be fulfilled, which would destroy the extremist movements on both sides of the conflict, but more importantly, it has to see a solution for the refugee crisis in this area of the world, ... The Jews recently have begun settlement building in the West Bank, encouraged by Ariel Sharon, (he was the housing minister in the 1970 s but now the Prime Minister). Today around 400,000 Israelis live illegally on the Palestinian lands, despite Resolution 242 passed 30 years ago making the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza strip illegal. This is why most terrorism happens in these areas, in order to scare the Israelis into defeat. A Recent example of this was in October 2003 when the Israelis launched a tender for the construction of 550 new homes in the Jewish section of the West Bank there was much protest from the moderate Palestinians but very soon there was a huge increase in the violence on the West Bank. Therefore, since any compromise involves one side giving up or not getting enough of the land they both see as rightfully belonging entirely to them, any peace deal will inevitably leave both the Israelis and the Palestinians unhappy. The Second barriers to peace are the extremists on both sides in this conflict. These people want 100% of the land and wouldn t be happy with anything less than the whole of Palestine to themselves. Both the Palestinian and Israeli Prime Ministers have hoped that with this new Road Map to Peace would satisfy the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What if animals were the key to saving their lives? With xenotransplantation, doctors and medical researchers could have the ability to save patients that are having organ failure. But what is it? Is it safe? How long have we known about it? Is it ethical towards society? These are some questions that arise when hearing about xenotransplantation. These people believe in the ethical theory of Natural Law , meaning that they believe that the nature is assumed to be rational, as well as orderly (Morrison, Furlong). • 40. Wildlife Corridor Essay Abstract Proponents of the wildlife corridor concept suggest that by connecting otherwise isolated portions of habitat, species benefit through gaining access to a larger gene pool, thus increasing their chances of reproductive success. Despite the popularisation of this idea over the last several decades, a lack of long term scientific research has led some to question this assumption. Factors including the territorial, mating and migration behaviours of individual species of animal as well as the lengths and breadths of corridors are all assumed to influence the effect of a corridor individually. As such, a specific corridor may assist in defragmenting the population of one species, but may not affect another in any significant way. The vast tracts of land required by wildlife corridors make a considered assessment of their assumed benefits an absolute necessity. Introduction The following paper aims to critique assumptions commonly made about wildlife corridors and to assess claims that they make a significant impact to the defragmentation of wildlife populations. Information from a variety of sources will be assessed in terms of its accuracy and relevance in an attempt to determine if wildlife corridors are an effective method to increase localised biodiversity levels. After key evidence both in favour against the concept has been presented, any relevant ideas will be synthesised into a recommendation made at the end of the paper. • 41. Imagery In Street Of Crocodiles The book Street of Crocodiles is a series of short stories depicting the life of a small family and the town they live in. These short stories are in no chronological order, but develop intense imagery throughout the entire novel. One of the most prominent characters of the book is the Father, who seems to be crazy. The father goes on a rollercoaster of emotions and ideas into an uncontrollable descent into insanity throughout the stories, altering the ways in which reality seems to be. In a couple of these chapters the author, Bruno Schulz, develops the character of the father through imagery that helps show how his reality is shifted between something human and something a little more animalistic. The only thing left of the father is a stuffed bird from his previous craze which happened to be the condor. Its coat of feathers was in many places moth eaten...its eyes had fallen out and sawdust scattered from the washed out tear stained sockets (73, Schulz). This description of the dead bird relates to the late father because in many ways the father was battered and somewhat lifeless at times. However other times he was vibrant and full of ideas which the condor also represented by its powerful beak and the bald neck that gave its senile head a solemnly hieratic air (73, Schulz). Before the father s disappearance, the house the family lives in became infested with cockroaches. To try and kill the little creatures he would leap from one chair to another with a javelin (75, Schulz) in his hands stabbing at the ground while emitting screams of terror (75, Schulz). In a sense he had grown wild (75, Schulz) attempting to rid the house of the invasion. His hatred for the cockroaches created a permeant petrified tragic mask (75, Schulz) on his face and the constant anticipation of a cockroach running by made the father go perpetually insane. He could no longer resist the intense loathing for the cockroaches causing him to fall prey to madness and become completely subjected to it (75, Schulz). This shows how the fathers reality has been completely altered to the point of insanity, he can no longer go about normal human activities because of his uncontrollable need to kill the cockroaches. Still he fought to obtain the reality he is losing ever so quickly, but eventually he lost the sense of who he is and control over his own body.
