Heart Failure ( Hf )
Introduction
Heart failure (HF) is a pathological condition that impairs the ability of the heart to keep up with the
metabolic demands of the body, resulting in multi organ abnormalities and eventually death1, 2.
This can result from conditions that reduce the ability of heart to pump blood which include
decreased contractility of myocardium secondary to reduced coronary perfusion, structural causes
like damaged heart valves, cardiac muscle or pericardial diseases etc.3 The understanding of the
mechanistic details that drive the progression of heart failure is not well understood but molecular
and cellular changes point towards the role of neuro hormonal activation and ventricular
remodeling as primary determinants.4 The sequential and progressive upregulation of renin
angiotensin aldosterone system, increased levels of norepinephrine and endothelin 1 play a
significant role in the progression of LV dysfunction. Coronary artery disease (CAD), dDiabetes,
and hHypertension are among the leading causes whereas other factors such as genetic, alcohol
abuse, infectious myocarditis, chemotherapeutic agents etc. also account for significant number of
cases.5, 6 The symptoms of decompensated HF are very non specific (shortness of breath, fatigue,
weakness, etc.) and need evaluation in the context of the overall clinical picture, which includes
signs like extremity edema, jugular venous distention, S3).5, 7 Tests like BNP, ECG, CXR,
echocardiography, C MRI allow confirmation of the

Sneak Analysis
3 Ways to Sneak in More Self Care Making space to take care of yourself and prioritise your needs
is one of the biggest challenges busy, high achieving women face.
When life gets overpowering and levels of stress rise, it s so tantalizing to clear out your calendar
by taking off the things which you do for yourself. On the surface, it can seem like the easiest,
swiftest, lowest conflict path to making more time, energy, and getting the critical stuff dealt with.
The difficulty is that it isn t.
When you re living a life where getting things done and looking after multiple responsibilities is
imperative, this means you are critical. When your presence is important, when other folks need and
depend on you, it s more important than ever ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The truth is, when I pay myself first when I put my workout at the top of the list, when I take the
time at the start of my week to plan my meals or plan some good down time in my week? I not
only feel better all week, I perform better. I am more targeted and creative. I feel more alive and I
have more to give. My clients notice this as well. When they drop the assumption that they have no
time for themselves and start putting their self care first, they really get more done.
3. Make self care an appointment and make it a standing date. Mull it over. If something is tricky
to do, why make yourself reinvent the wheel and start anew with doing it every time? When you
can, it is often best to make self care a ritual.
A client who was continually traveling for her company fought with emotional overeating when
she was on the road. She struggled with the easy way to take care of herself and make great food
and portion decisions in each new hotel and new town she visited. One simple step we took to
reduce her stress and to help her take control of emotional eating was to design rituals that helped
ground her and she could use to relax, plan her eating decisions, and limit stress eating. The key
was to systematize things so she had a ritual she was used to completing at set times of the day
and that would kick in even if she is away from

Geo Location And Social Media Services
Geo location and social media services are becoming the way of the future online. These services
are redefining the way we find and connect to interests and hobbies. Through the expansion of Geo
location and tagging mobile social media services, user s privacy online will continue to be
exposed without their knowledge and risk being victims to potential criminals.
With the progression and development in GPS and Wi Fi, geo location has become a dominant tool
that can collect information over huge distances. It is purpose is to identify the physical
location and time of a user when they post something on the internet. This helps advertisers and
third party companies to help predict or assume the interest and likes of the user. The more the
user uses the service, the more the service uses the user. Geo location included in devices such as
cell phones, computers, laptops, tablets but many people seem to be unaware. Going online with
these devices can show where someone is, what they are doing and what time they are doing it.
Telecommunication companies and internet providers record the sites and places we visit online
to help profile and analyse the user more efficiently. Cell phones have become so common for
social media use that users are willing to risk their privacy to have access to their social media
sites or in most cases the user is oblivious that their information is being taken from them. This
gives rise to the fear of potential big companies, or even the government,

The Alienation of Emily Grierson
In William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily , a woman of noble origin, Emily Grierson, finds herself
alone isolated in a small town in the Old South. The isolation is not only a result of the
townspeople s perception of Emily s status in the community, but also as a result of their pity
towards her. Emily, herself, is also to blame for the separation she experiences from the rest of the
town. This ominous alienation that some individuals encounter can sometimes lead to horrible, and
even, disgusting behavior, as in Emily s case. In A Rose for Emily , Faulkner shows how the
alienation felt by Emily Grierson caused by the townspeople, the deathof her father, and her own
self, enables her to commit an act of grotesqueness. Emily s feeling... Show more content on

Although Homer Baron was said to have liked men and was considered not a marrying man, he
was the closest person Emily could call a friend. (5) Faulkner does not clarify exactly how Mr.
Baron died. The reader is left wondering if it was indeed Emily herself that killed him with the
arsenic she purchased from the drugstore, or if his death was due to another cause. Either way, the
tragedy of his death was enough to send Emily deeper into her alienated thoughts and further into
her own secluded madness. A Rose for Emily reveals how an otherwise, ordinary individual can
grow increasingly separated from the social world around them, and become subsequently alienated
from logical thought and reasonable actions. Due to the standoffishness of the townspeople and
Emily s superior than thou attitude, it was easy for her to fall subject to the isolated, lonely
feelings that led her to commit the otherwise grotesque act of love and

Lear s pride blinds him to the truth, but once he is able to see he achieves redemption. Lear s
pride is evident when he asks his daughters to praise and tell him how much they love him. Lear
intends to divide his kingdom among his three daughters, demands public declaration of their love
and asks them, Tell me, my daughters/ Which of you shall we say doth loveus most,/ That we our
largest bounty may extend/ Where nature doth with merit challenge (1.1.52 58). Lear wants his
daughters to express their admiration for him. His pride demands it. He will award the greatest
portion of his kingdom to the daughter who loves him most. Clearly, Lear wants to hear them say
that so he can be reminded of how powerful he is. Lear s self centered and arrogant

Lung Consolidation Case Study
Lung consolidations may have a variety of causes including infection, pulmonary embolism, lung
cancer and metastasis, compression atelectasis, obstructive atelectasis, and lung contusion
Additional sonographic signs that may help to determine the cause of lung consolidation include
the following: a)The quality of the deep margins of the consolidation.
b) The presence of comet tail reverberation artifacts at the far field margin.
c) The presence of air bronchogram(s).
d) The presence of fluid bronchogram(s).
e)The vascular pattern within the consolidation .
The consolidated region of the lung is visualized at LUS as an echo poor or tissue like image,
depending on the extent of air loss and fluid predominance, which is clearly different from the
normal pattern. The cause ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In pleuritic pain, LUS is superior to CXR and may allow visualization of radio occult pulmonary
conditions. In mechanically ventilated patients, LUS is more accurate than CXR in detecting and
distinguishing various types of consolidations
Characteristic ultrasonography findings of alveolar syndrome:
Consolidation: Intercostal scan shows a hypoechoic consolidated area that contains multiple
echogenic lines that represent an air bronchogram. The presence of dynamic air bronchogram
(branching echogenic structures with centrifuge movement with breathing) helps to rule out
obstructive atelectasia
Focal interstitial pattern: Focal interstitial pattern was defined as vertical hyperechoic comet tail
artefacts that arose strictly from the pleural line, spread to the edge of the screen without fading
and appeared focally instead of diffusely( Nafae et al.,2013).
Subpleural lesion: Subpleural lesion was defined as pleural based hypoechoic nodules with no
hyperechoic lines within it. It could be triangular, round, linear or polygonal

Of Mice And Men Companionship Quotes
Mark Twain once said, To get the full value of joy you must have someone to divide it with (
Mark Twain Quotes Quotable Quote ). From this, we can understand that companionship is
necessary in every aspect of life if one wishes to be content. In the novel Of Mice and Men, John
Steinbeckportrays the need for companionship through George and Lennie s relationship, Curley s
wife s social experiences, and Crooks loneliness.
John Steinbeck portrays the need of companionship throughout the novel using George s
relationship with Lennie on a multitude of occasions. This is done first by showing how George
cannot stand the thought of him and Lennie being separated. It is conveyed to George by Lennie
that he could live on his own in a cave if he is unwanted; however, George instantaneously pushes
the thought away saying, You can jus as well go to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We see this throughout the novel when Curley s wife is in Crooks room. She explodes in rage
towards Candy, Crooks, and Lennie, expressing that she wants to talk to others more often
(Steinbeck 77). This suggests that her marriage limits her social freedom and what she is
allowed to do on the ranch. Additionally, Curley s wife threatened Crooks over a simple problem.
She uses a racial slur and threatens to lynch Crooks just because he tells her to leave his room
(Steinbeck 80 81). We can derive from this situation that Curley s wife has difficulty being with
most others. However, she acted kind towards Lennie. On page 90 of Of Mice and Men, we see
that as she starts talking to Lennie, they both warm up to each other and are very kind. This
demonstrates how, though Curley s wife can be very unpleasant towards others, she has the
capacity to be kind. Overall, we are led to see how Curley s wife s social experiences show the need
for companionship in Of Mice and

The Importance Of Imperialism In Shakespeare s The Tempest
When a person takes a ball of red play doh and smashes it together with a second ball of blue play
do, it creates purple. Can the two colors ever go back to their original state of being just red, and
just blue? When two colors are mixed, the action can never be undone, therefore, they can never
return to the natural and pure versions of themselves that they once were . Due to imperialism,
when you emerge one culturewith another for even a small period of time, the original residents are
permanently permeated with the new culture, an action that can never be reversed. In a sense, once
a pure and natural civilizationis infused with another lifestyle, the effects, no matter how small, will
leave the native civilization changed. Montaigne deduces that there is a natural untouched form of
nature and a new nature, that is essentially impure. Impure in the sense that society has fallen out of
step with the natural way of life, to create their own rules, and own way of living. Shakespeare
agrees with Montaigne when it comes to imperialism and ruining the pure state of innocence, and
his agreement is shown through his play, The Tempest.
The Renaissance philosopher, Montaigne, insists through his essay, Of Cannibals , that society
today has corrupted mother nature, and taken away her purity by turning away from the natural
order to make their own set of rules, and execute their own way of living. Civilizations were once
born through nature, thus they lived by nature. In the

Natural Selection
Part B.
Over the millions of years organisms have been present on earth, there has been many forms of
evidence to suggest animals are evolving through natural selection. However, the question still
remains as to whether homo sapiens are still evolving through natural selection. Through the nature
of science being subject to change and many new discoveries being made each day, it is difficult to
make clear confined theories and conclusions, which will not be impacted on in the future.

The main idea which discredits and contradicts evolution involves the idea that evolution proceeds
by random chance. However in Australia and among homo sapiens the only evidence to support the
idea that evolution is occurring are as a result of an organism evolving in order to adapt to the
changing environmental conditions of Australia.
Slide 23:
In conclusion, there are many different forms of evidence to support the idea of evolution by
natural selection among homo sapiens in Australia. With reference to the scientific theories and
information present today, it becomes obvious that homo sapiens in Australia are still evolving and
will continue to over time in order to cope with and adapt to environmental changes.

intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.

An Information Security Engineer for a video game development company has many things to be
concerned about. A few items of concern are compromised game servers, DDoS, and Threat Group

the risk. In addition there are also potential controls that the company could use to mitigate each
risk. Risk management, control identification, and selection processes are important. The best
strategy for malicious attacks and threats is determined by the risk. For a compromised game

Attacks from a threat group like TG 3279 can be devastating for a company, small companies
would not be able to recover. Due to the negative potential outcome of this threat, risk avoidance
would be the best strategy. Keeping everything updated will only get you so far. It would be wise
to have an inside hacker who can help find any weaknesses in your security so you can make
patches or reinforce the weakness. This can help the company stay one step ahead of any threat
groups. Along with understanding the best strategy for a risk, it is also good to understand the
potential controls needed to mitigate each risk. Preventative controls are needed for a
compromised game server. This is mitigation control would work for this threat because it is a
preventable problem. To reduce the risk of a DDoS attack, administrative controls would be a
good approach. The chances of this attack happening would be lessened if permissions to data
and servers were controlled (State University of New York, 2015). It is best to ensure no one
person has access to everything. For a threat such as TG 3279, it is best to use a detective control.
A company would want to detect a potential problem in the early stages before any damage can be
done. Risk management, control identification, and selection processes are important, specifically
in this organization. It is naГЇve of a

The Last Supper By Leonardo Da Vinci Essay
Bad Company
When Leonardo da Vinci painted his famous work, The Last Supper , he prepared himself by
making a thorough study of the lives of each of the twelve Apostles as well as the Lord. Then he
set out to find real faces to paint as the faces of the thirteen men represented in the painting.
As the story goes, he thought finding a face to paint as the face of the Lord would be the most
difficult. His goal was to find a man in whose face; he could see love, compassion and kindness.
He wanted to see the glow of purity in his countenance and a gleam akin to divinity in his eyes.
Da Vinci searched for a number of months before he found a man whose countenance portrayed the
characteristics that he needed to paint the face of Jesus Christ. The man gave his permission and
his face was painted as the face of the Lord.
During the following three years, Leonardo da Vincifound other men, whose faces he painted as
the faces of Peter, Andrew, James, John, Phillip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James,
Thaddaeus and Simon.
Then he began searching for a face to paint as the face of Judas. He would need to find a man in
whose face he could see dissipation and despair. There would be no gleam in his eyes. Finally,
he learned about a fellow who was being held down at the jail for thievery and drunkenness. The
artist went to the jail and as soon as he saw the man, he knew the face that he had been looking
was found. He had discovered the face, he would paint as that of Judas; the

Essay about Mittell’s Television Genre Theory and Louie
Originally published in Cinema Journal 40, No. 3, Spring 2001, Jason Mittell s A Cultural
Approach to Television Genre Theory conceives of television genre as a cultural category rather
than merely a textual component. In the decade since the original publishing of the article,
television has evolved out of the multi channel era and into the post network era. In this new
television landscape, genresare no longer a fixed entity1, and there is great academic potential in the

Finally, this concept of genre will be applied to the development of the central questions in my final
project.
LOUIE: A GENERIC DISCOURSE
Mittell suggests that genre studies should negotiate between specificity and generality, and offers
the following as an approach: The second way would be to start with a specific media case study
and analyze how genre processes operate within this specific instance. Such projects might isolate a
variety of starting points an industrial formation, audience practices, a textual instance, a policy
decision, or a moment in social history. We may start with a textual case to motivate our study, but
we must still examine how genres transcend textual boundaries and operate within audience and
industry practices as well.3 Also, according to the article, we should focus on the breadth of
discursive enunciations around any given instance, mapping out as many articulations of genre as
possible and situating them within larger cultural contexts and relations of power.4 So, any generic
discourse must begin with a full understanding of the context of a particular text in this case, Louie.

Teaching Compassion in a World Were Compassion Is Lost
According to Arthur Schopenhauer compassion is the basis of all morality. This means that
principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior (Google
dictionary, morality) are developed by the sympathetic pity and concern for the suffering or
misfortune of others. (Google dictionary, compassion) In the novel To Kill a Mockingbirdwe
generally see this through the character Atticus Finch. Atticus demonstrates this when he pardons
Bob Ewell s threats toward the Finch family, accepts the Tom Robinson case, though it is headed
for failure and lastly Atticus examples compassion when he acts neighborly to Mrs. Dubose despite
her insults towards him. As you will see, morally correct decisions come not from law or society,
but from within.
Bob Ewell, a man who is offensive, ignorant and lazy poses threats on Atticus Finch, an intellectual,
wise, empathetic man and his family. The threats are dangerous and serious, however, no matter
what they are or how scared his children grow nothing seems to faze him. Atticus is trying to teach
his children to put themselves in other people s situations before coming to harsh conclusions:
Jem, see if you can stand in Bob Ewell s shoes a minute. I destroyed his last shred of credibility at
that trial, if he had any to begin with. The man had to have some kind of comeback, his kind
always does. So if spitting in my face and threatening me saved Mayella Ewell one extra beating,

The Critique Of World Music
Introduction
Is it a bird...is it a plane...? This is too shay ... World Music ClichГ©?!
When dissecting music, we mainly tend to pay attention to its ethnicity, culture, whether or not its
indigenous, traditional or tribal. World music is flavoured by native music culture. Often native
music is considered sacred or used to dissolve egos and ignite their awareness of spiritual fire!
Ever listen to a piece of music and think, I ve heard this before?
Western civilisation has forgotten about centuries old reincarnations. Even in languages: The
English seem to forget about its Germanic Constructs.
We could consider World Music as a Pseudo musical term in marketing...
We complain about this matter because of its ability to relegate something for its exotic experience;
cute, weird but safe, exotica is beautiful but irrelevant. The subtle way within in reasserts the
hegemony of Western Pop Culture. The context of world music has become so analogous. The fact
that we can appreciate it on the radio, T.V, internet etc. we also train our ears consciously and

music and aspects thereof also contributes to the loss of the music s unique character, as it is
performed outside of the context for which it was designed and for reasons other than those for
which it was created. The fact that artists make use of world music or its characteristics in order to
make a profit means that the music has been

The Price Of Goods And Services
The way companies price their goods and services depends heavily on many different factors.
Throughout human history, goods and services have always had intrinsic value to people, and in
our day and age this is no different. Shopping, however, has changed quite a bit due to many
different reasons. Prices of goods and services are now changed by companies based on psychology,
supply and demand, and government influences to adapt themselves to the modern world. The
most personal of these three factors is the direct psychology of pricing, from items costing $0.01
less than an even dollar amount to overcharging for soda at a fast food restaurant, prices are
specifically engineered to optimize profits for a company. According to Judith Holdershaw, writer
for the MarketingBulletin, the practice of ending prices with $0.99 is used because the human
brain, in recognizing that $4.99 is closer to $5.00 than $4.00, has to do an extra mental step to
carry the one. This may seem like an insignificant step, however when these memories are viewed
in hindsight, the brain glosses over the extra step to convert the $0.99 to $1.00, which gives the
consumer the impression of a lower cost, even when the nominal priceis practically identical.
(Holdershaw) By pricing their products at one cent below a round number, producers can also
establish price points, such that when manufacturing and transportation costs would suggest a
product should be sold at $5.25, a producer can sell the product

The need for cheap and efficient means of travel coupled with the development of motor vehicles
has seen a rapid growth in the automotive industry. The automotive industry encompasses all the
companies and activities involved in the manufacture of motor vehicles, including most

the manufacturing nowadays is done by robots, computers and machines, the strongest and most
luxurious vehicles are still considered to be the ones that have had the most human involvement
and effort applied on them. This makes simple tools such as the cordless hand drill necessitous in
the entire process because of their wide range of uses and applications which will be further

assembling individual components to make a complete structure however, this report will focus on

Arab Rituals
Arabic Rituals and Traditions During Pregnancy
An Arab is defined as an individual who was born in an Arab country, speaks the Arabic
language, and shares the beliefs of an Arab culture (Kridli 2002). Many Arabs are very religious
and typically practice either Muslim or Christianity. There are 22 countries that make up the Arab
world they are located in the Middle East and Northern Africa. Did you know that there are about
two hundred thousand Arab Americans living in Erie, PA? There has been a great influx in the
past decade of Arab Americans coming to and living in Erie County, PA. Since the area is becoming
more diverse, it is necessary for nurses to better their communication to enhance the patients

Children are dearly loved (Durham 2014, p. 403), and large families are common. It is
important that the parents are not left childless and that the family name is carried on therefore
it is important to have more than one child. Sons are highly favorable because they provide
economic security, political strength, and endure social prestige (Kridli, 2002). If the first
pregnancy in a family results in a girl, the desire to try again is high, if this child is a girl, they
typically continue to try until they get a boy. If the first child is a boy, sometimes they will only
have one (Kridli, 2002). Kridli says that there are three main pressures to have children in the
Arabic culture, they include: 1. Traditional required for help and work in the fields and
caregivers for elderly parents, 2. Familial pressure to have kids to be able to preserve the family
name, 3. Religious desire to be fruitful and the belief in God and his powers to care for any
child that is conceived (2002). Children and family are so important in this culture that family
planning is only acceptable to space out children, it is not to be used to limit the size of a family.
The practice of sterilization is not used unless the mother is in poor health and it would
compromise subsequent pregnancies. Because family planning is not acceptable, knowledge on
proper use of contraceptives is unknown to many Arabic people. Arab Americans are more
accepting of contraceptives but need the education on options and importance of correct use
(Kridli 2002). Finding out the sex of the unborn child is believed to cause the evil eye. No one
knows what is in the womb but God (Kridli, 2002), he could potentially change the sex at any time
throughout the pregnancy.
Pregnancy is important in this culture marriage is dependent on fertility therefore she is not
confirmed wife until she has a baby (Kridli, 2002). Pregnancy in the Arabic culture is believed to be

The Maya And The Mayan Civilization
The Maya were a people from Middle America, which includes modern Guatemala, Southern
Mexico, and Northern Belize (Editors). The Maya civilization was considered to be one of the
most dominant indigenous societies of Mesoamerica, (Maya). The Maya excelled at agriculture,
pottery, hieroglyph writing, calendar making, and mathematics, and left behind an astonishing
amount of impressive architecture and symbolic artwork, (Maya). They also gave mankind the
modern calendar (Jarus, Maya). The Mayans were a very advanced people, but one of the most
important things in the Mayan culture was their religion/god worshipping rituals. The Mayans

These were said to have been very big, joyous celebrations with lots of drinking and
merrymaking between neighboring friends and family. The Mayans ate a lot of things at these
parties, including vegetable stews, roasted meats, maize cakes and the desirable cocoa. As their
guests left their extravagant party, the Mayans would give their guests a gift, almost like a
goody bag, but the host would give their attendees a vase and a pedestal. This is like when your
grandmother gives you some food take home after visiting her. Every Mayan person would have
to these feasts, even the poor. In return for going to someone s party, one had to throw their own
party and invite them; the only people who did not have to exactly return the favor would have
been poor. As mentioned before, every person had to throw the feast. If the person died before they
could throw their extravagant party, their heir would have to throw that party; there was no getting
past that (McManus). Though this had a role in the lives of the Mayans, this was still little of what
the Mayans did. One very interesting thing about the Mayans was that they had a very different
view of creation than most common belief systems. The Mayans believed that the earth was just a
plain old watery void to start out. Then, animals and plants came into the earth s wide picture
(Jarus). It was just animals and plants on the planet no humans. But the gods needed humans,

In Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinso, Categorical...
In Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson, the story follows Ruth and Lucille as they pass through
the care of their mother, grandmother, great aunts, and finally their mother s transient sister, Sylvie.
While Ruth is generally passively accepting of the care or lack thereof that she receives from these
women, no matter how unconventional, Lucille purposefully sets herself against Sylvie. After
existing outside of the boundaries that society imposes for the majority of her adult life, Sylvie is
unable to provide the structured normality to which Lucille so desperately cleaves. In their own
methods of seeking happiness, Sylvie prefers a fluid way of housekeeping, while Lucille needs
strict adherence to convention. The polar relationship that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Even while Sylvie is trying to live without boundaries, in the way that she claims makes her feel the
most at peace, she contemplates suicide. She walked up the bank, and stood looking across the
bridge for a moment, and then she began carefully, tie by tie, out onto it. Slowly she walked on
and on, until she was perhaps fifty feet out over the water... I ve always wondered what it would
be like. (81 82) Sylvie knows that the only way to live unrestricted is to die, much the way Helen
did. In reality, however, society even places restrictions death. While the decedent may not be
sentient and aware of such things, the categories of natural death, accidental death, and suicide are
all seen within Housekeeping, and are a way of defining the lives of those who die after their
deaths. However, it is her earthly restrictions her obligations to Ruth and Lucille that prevent Sylvie
from committing suicide.
In extreme contrast, Lucille has boundaries, and if society has an expectation, Lucille is going to
follow it. Though the community did not peer through the windows at suppertime, Lucille requires
complete normalcy from herself at all times. She insisted on light at suppertime. She found three
place settings of china and began demanding meat and vegetables. (102) These demands are not
unreasonable, but for a child to be requiring such things rather than grilled cheese sandwiches is

A Brief Note On Define Person Centered Values
1.1Define person centred values
Person centred values are about focusing on the individual and their needs it helps us to realize that
although individuals can have the same medical conditions it doesn t mean they require the same
support and care. Being person centred is being able to understand about the individual including
their needs, culture, means of communication likes and dislikes. Values can be defined as what is
important in the life of the individual you need to think about their individuality, independence,
privacy, dignity, choiceand respect.

The Effect Of The Slat System Essay
In order to gauge any effects the slat system, with various weights, may have on the shock wave,
several baseline tests were run. These tests did not have the device installed in order to record
and understand the basic performance of a shock wave coming straight from the shock tube. To
record the pressure profile of the wave within the expansion section, GageScope was used. A
trigger was set to detect a rapid rise in voltage from the pressure transducer, and the program
would record 1ms before and 10ms after the trigger. The initial baseline test can be seen in Figure X
below. For a greater focus on the effects of the device on the shock wave, all charts for comparison
has been narrowed to 2ms after the trigger. The two significant runs showing the pressure profile of
the shock wave are shown in Figures X Y.
Figure x: Baseline Test 1 Full Recording
Figure x: Baseline Test 1 2ms Recording
Figure x: Baseline Test 2
These figures show that the pressure rises from atmospheric (0mV) to peak pressure in a rise
time of around 0.000039 seconds, or 39 Вµs. This is representative of a shock wave due to a
nearly instantaneous rise time. Baseline test 1 burst at 51 psi while baseline test 2 burst at 53 psi.
The initial design did not perform effectively at achieving its intended functions when installed and
tested with the shock tube. Upon firing the shock tube, the slats would not rotate. Several firings
were attempted, all resulting in no rotation of the rods. The

A Girl and her Mother There are several responsibilities a girl should learn about before going off
on her own and it is usually the mother s job to teach their daughter these life lessons. In the prose
poem Girl, by Jamaica Kincaid, a mother writes out a guide her daughter must follow in order to
succeed in her adult years. This poem that the mother has written for her daughter is better seen
as a guide to adulthood due to her use of an extremely long run on sentence and choice of diction.
The run on sentence consists of a list of commands like this is how you sweep a corner; this is
how you sweep a whole house; this is how you sweep a yard (22 24). Not only does the run on
sentence depict that this is a guide, but so does the constant repetition of this is how and don t ...

The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari Essay
Around the premonition of the rising of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party, two German World War I
veterans named Hans Janowitz and Carl Mayer wrote the script for the German silent film, The
Cabinet of Dr. Caligari . Based on experience from their time in the German military, they wrote the
script based on the mistrust of authority while with the military in World War I. The plot tells the
story of a crazy hypnotist, Dr. Caligari, who hypnotizes and uses a somnambulist, Cesare, to
commit murders. Dr. Caligari represented the murderous authority that the German war government

author of From Caligari to Hitler, speaks about the inability of the Germany s unwillingness to rebel

Gothic Elements Of Gothic Literature
the use of gothic description to provide accounts of pleasuring horror stories. Some of the most
well known works of horror included the Arabian Nights and Ferdinand Count Fathom (pg. 591).
Other known gothic stories, particularly, From the Romance of the Forest by Ann Radcliffe, and
The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole, also provided a sense of terror to their readers (pg.
591). In these two novels, architectural environments conveyed a sense of dread, fear, and terror by
incorporating literally elements that invoked frightening and horrifying sensations, which gave
these stories, a horrific pleasure that its readers desired. One of the most notable literally elements
used in the two poems was the use of gloomy scenery to set an ominous atmosphere that
contributed to the poem s sense of horror. For example, in the Castle of Otranto, Lord Manfred
announced to Isabella he desired her hand in marriage and then proceeded to pursue her. At that
same instance, it was written, when the moon, which was now up and gleamed in at the opposite
casement, presented to his slight the plumes of the fatal helmet, which rose to the height of the
windows, waving backwards and forwards in a tempestuous manner, and accompanied with a
hollow and rustling sound (Walpole 587). This description illustrated Manfred s character to appear
more horrifying and evil, which built onto the amount of fear that was being experienced. Similarly,

Chuang Tzu s Basic Writings Essay
Chuang Tzu s Basic Writings, with his idea of the way which is effortless and ineffable, seem to
suggest a minimalist take on government. The Daoist philosophy present in the text has no room
for organized hierarchy or unified morality in the understanding of the world. This leaves no room
for government whose laws and bureaucracy are based on codified morality and hierarchy. The
governmentmust also allow its citizens to practice the wu wei, which means the government would
have to allow individual freedom. Thus the only suitable form of government following the way
would be a limited structure emphasizing individual morality essentially a libertarian form of
government. There is a lack of hierarchy in Chuang Tzu s Daoism due to the belief in the
indistinguishable position of the individual to the rest of humanity and humanity to all the world.
This is evident in The Dream and The Butterfly in which Chuang Tzu shows that the perspective of
a human is no truer than the perspective of a butterfly. In the fable, Chuang Tzu s questioning of
which organism is the reality and which is the dream blurs the distinction between humanity and
nature. This is consistent with Chuang Tzu s belief that humanity is one with nature, meaning that
human government should reflect the form of hierarchy present in the natural world. Such a belief
in the most natural sense of hierarchy would at first suggest that the way is a path of egalitarianism;
however, this belief that, in nature,

Yeast Infection Research Paper
Identifying Yeast Infection Triggers
Yeast covers the body especially every spot that has skin folds. Common locations include our
mouth, stomach, nail beds. Women typically find yeast beneath larger breasts and in the vaginal
area. However if the yeast exceeds the normal stages, yeast infection occurs. Yeast infection triggers
the production of too much yeast and is all started by a particular bacteria called Candida Albicans.
This bacteria thrives in warm, moist places. The most well known evidence of yeast infection is
intense itchyness and inflammation in the affected location.
Typical Yeast Infections
Yeast infection could possibly happen to any of us. The truth is, it attacks women, men and
children. The vast majority of yeast infections are genital, thrush, diaper rashes and nail bed
infections.
Yeast Infection of The Vaginal Area
Vaginal yeast infection is the most recurrent in women. Vaginal yeast only happens when there
exists abnormal growth of yeast in the vagina which typically causes stinging, itchyness,
inflammation and secretions. A bacterial infection is quite often triggered by ingesting antibiotic
pills and steroid drugs. Yet yeast infection can also be linked to using oral contraceptive pills, being

My Passion In Life
Passion is an emotion that human beings cannot control, it leads many down paths they never
thought they would go down. I loved football as it became a vessel to unleash anger and stress,
but that passion for that game came crashing down during sophomore year. That summer
continued to have its struggles, but it continued to improve as football season was about to begin
and I could not be more ready to start a new season. However, that dream season never came for
me as on one of the last days of summer, I learned my dad wanted to have hip surgery. A very
intense operation that my dad would need my helpto come back as a new man. Which, seems like a
good opportunityfor my dad, but for me, it was the end of a passion that I thought I needed to be
able to continue to obtain happiness and enjoy life. I remained worried. I remained dejected. I
remained upset. All those feelings and anger were for naught as my willingness to succeed and try
new activities turned my dad s surgeries into a whole new world of opportunities for me to explore.
The first opportunity I went after was my long lost love of music that I ignored for so long. I

Impact Of Globalization On A Country s Economy
When we think of a country s economy the first thing that comes to mind is how successful a
country is, and how successful a country is determines its status as a global power. One of the
tools used to measure a country s economy is call Gross Domestic Product (GDP). GDP can be
defined as the value all the goods and services produced within a country within a given period of
times, such as a financial quarter or a year. Over the years we have seen an increase in globalization,
which is the integration between companies and governments of different countries, which has lead
to an increased international trade. As a result of globalization countries can produce more because
they are more markets for their products, which in returns adds to GDP. One of the engines of
globalization is the transportation and logistics industry, and this industry is considered an engine
because without the industry globalization would not be possible. Today with globalization
companies can set up factories in low income countries across the world like China and India, and
sell the their finish product in the united states making huge profits. Maximizing the profits of
companies depends on good transportation and logistics management, because when these products
are finish they have to be transported to the United States. Goods can be transported in many
different modes of transportation, the most popular mode for international trade are ships, because
they are more economical, but airplanes,

The isolation is not only a result of the townspeople s perception of Emily s status in the community, but also as a result of their pity towards her. Emily, herself, is also to blame for the separation she experiences from the rest of the town. This ominous alienation that some individuals encounter can sometimes lead to horrible, and even, disgusting behavior, as in Emily s case. The Last Supper By Leonardo Da Vinci Essay Bad Company When Leonardo da Vinci painted his famous work, The Last Supper , he prepared himself by making a thorough study of the lives of each of the twelve Apostles as well as the Lord. As the story goes, he thought finding a face to paint as the face of the Lord would be the most difficult. His goal was to find a man in whose face; he could see love, compassion and kindness. He wanted to see the glow of purity in his countenance and a gleam akin to divinity in his eyes. This means that principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior (Google dictionary, morality) are developed by the sympathetic pity and concern for the suffering or misfortune of others. (Google dictionary, compassion) In the novel To Kill a Mockingbirdwe generally see this through the character Atticus Finch. Atticus demonstrates this when he pardons Bob Ewell s threats toward the Finch family, accepts the Tom Robinson case, though it is headed for failure and lastly Atticus examples compassion when he acts neighborly to Mrs. Dubose despite her insults towards him. The threats are dangerous and serious, however, no matter what they are or how scared his children grow nothing seems to faze him. • 21. The Price Of Goods And Services The way companies price their goods and services depends heavily on many different factors. Throughout human history, goods and services have always had intrinsic value to people, and in our day and age this is no different. Shopping, however, has changed quite a bit due to many different reasons. Prices of goods and services are now changed by companies based on psychology, supply and demand, and government influences to adapt themselves to the modern world. The most personal of these three factors is the direct psychology of pricing, from items costing $0.01 less than an even dollar amount to overcharging for soda at a fast food restaurant, prices are specifically engineered to optimize profits for a company. According to Judith Holdershaw, writer for the MarketingBulletin, the practice of ending prices with $0.99 is used because the human brain, in recognizing that $4.99 is closer to $5.00 than $4.00, has to do an extra mental step to carry the one. This may seem like an insignificant step, however when these memories are viewed in hindsight, the brain glosses over the extra step to convert the $0.99 to $1.00, which gives the consumer the impression of a lower cost, even when the nominal priceis practically identical. (Holdershaw) By pricing their products at one cent below a round number, producers can also establish price points, such that when manufacturing and transportation costs would suggest a product should be sold at $5.25, a producer can sell the product ... If the first child is a boy, sometimes they will only have one (Kridli, 2002). Kridli says that there are three main pressures to have children in the Arabic culture, they include: 1. Traditional required for help and work in the fields and caregivers for elderly parents, 2. Familial pressure to have kids to be able to preserve the family name, 3. Religious desire to be fruitful and the belief in God and his powers to care for any child that is conceived (2002). These were said to have been very big, joyous celebrations with lots of drinking and merrymaking between neighboring friends and family. The Mayans ate a lot of things at these parties, including vegetable stews, roasted meats, maize cakes and the desirable cocoa. As their guests left their extravagant party, the Mayans would give their guests a gift, almost like a goody bag, but the host would give their attendees a vase and a pedestal. This is like when your grandmother gives you some food take home after visiting her. Every Mayan person would have to these feasts, even the poor. In return for going to someone s party, one had to throw their own party and invite them; the only people who did not have to exactly return the favor would have been poor. As mentioned before, every person had to throw the feast. If the person died before they could throw their extravagant party, their heir would have to throw that party; there was no getting past that (McManus). Though this had a role in the lives of the Mayans, this was still little of what the Mayans did. One very interesting thing about the Mayans was that they had a very different view of creation than most common belief systems. The Mayans believed that the earth was just a plain old watery void to start out. Then, animals and plants came into the earth s wide picture (Jarus). It was just animals and plants on the planet no humans. But the gods needed humans, something or someone to worship them. The gods ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson, the story follows Ruth and Lucille as they pass through the care of their mother, grandmother, great aunts, and finally their mother s transient sister, Sylvie. While Ruth is generally passively accepting of the care or lack thereof that she receives from these women, no matter how unconventional, Lucille purposefully sets herself against Sylvie. After existing outside of the boundaries that society imposes for the majority of her adult life, Sylvie is unable to provide the structured normality to which Lucille so desperately cleaves. In extreme contrast, Lucille has boundaries, and if society has an expectation, Lucille is going to follow it. These tests did not have the device installed in order to record and understand the basic performance of a shock wave coming straight from the shock tube. To record the pressure profile of the wave within the expansion section, GageScope was used. A trigger was set to detect a rapid rise in voltage from the pressure transducer, and the program would record 1ms before and 10ms after the trigger. The initial baseline test can be seen in Figure X below. For a greater focus on the effects of the device on the shock wave, all charts for comparison has been narrowed to 2ms after the trigger. In the prose poem Girl, by Jamaica Kincaid, a mother writes out a guide her daughter must follow in order to succeed in her adult years. • 33. Gothic Elements Of Gothic Literature the use of gothic description to provide accounts of pleasuring horror stories. Some of the most well known works of horror included the Arabian Nights and Ferdinand Count Fathom (pg. 591). Other known gothic stories, particularly, From the Romance of the Forest by Ann Radcliffe, and The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole, also provided a sense of terror to their readers (pg. 591). In these two novels, architectural environments conveyed a sense of dread, fear, and terror by incorporating literally elements that invoked frightening and horrifying sensations, which gave these stories, a horrific pleasure that its readers desired. One of the most notable literally elements used in the two poems was the use of gloomy scenery to set an ominous atmosphere that contributed to the poem s sense of horror. For example, in the Castle of Otranto, Lord Manfred announced to Isabella he desired her hand in marriage and then proceeded to pursue her. At that same instance, it was written, when the moon, which was now up and gleamed in at the opposite casement, presented to his slight the plumes of the fatal helmet, which rose to the height of the windows, waving backwards and forwards in a tempestuous manner, and accompanied with a hollow and rustling sound (Walpole 587). • 35. Chuang Tzu s Basic Writings Essay Chuang Tzu s Basic Writings, with his idea of the way which is effortless and ineffable, seem to suggest a minimalist take on government. The Daoist philosophy present in the text has no room for organized hierarchy or unified morality in the understanding of the world. This leaves no room for government whose laws and bureaucracy are based on codified morality and hierarchy. The governmentmust also allow its citizens to practice the wu wei, which means the government would have to allow individual freedom. Thus the only suitable form of government following the way would be a limited structure emphasizing individual morality essentially a libertarian form of government. There is a lack of hierarchy in Chuang Tzu s Daoism due to the belief in the indistinguishable position of the individual to the rest of humanity and humanity to all the world. This is evident in The Dream and The Butterfly in which Chuang Tzu shows that the perspective of a human is no truer than the perspective of a butterfly. In the fable, Chuang Tzu s questioning of which organism is the reality and which is the dream blurs the distinction between humanity and nature. This is consistent with Chuang Tzu s belief that humanity is one with nature, meaning that human government should reflect the form of hierarchy present in the natural world. Such a belief in the most natural sense of hierarchy would at first suggest that the way is a path of egalitarianism; however, this belief that, in nature, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the tools used to measure a country s economy is call Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
