that Kudler Fine Foods at La Jolla, Del Mar, and Encinitas must make in order to

concern will be in decisions of software design, hardware and network(s), and

process to make an easy transition to the program. Too intricate of process will
cause a hardship to this new program. Consideration must be given that the human
computer interface to be of a simplified (easy) design. In this way the customer and
the clerk will have an easier process which will make for a better buying

accumulated will show up on the tape register. The Frequent Shopper can go online
to verify their accumulated points and/or redeem their points for prizes. The
Frequent Shopper can also have their card scanned at the register. The register side
bar interface, containing a four and a half inch screen, will allow the Frequent
Shopper to see the accumulated points and level of prizes available at that time. The
tape register reinforces the points accumulated. The visual imagery of the screen and

How Water Affects The Rate Of Change In Water
Water normally freezes at 0В°C, however this temperature reading is widely
dependent on the substances that are present in the water. When dissolving a
substance in water, the freezing point will be lowered, meaning that the
temperature has to be colder in order for the water to completely freeze. This is
called, The Depression of Freezing Point . Many foreign substances, such as
alcohol, sugar and salt, can interrupt the balance of melting and freezing water at 0
degrees Celsius. This has a direct link to the melting point of ice as melting point and
freezing point both are 0В°C.
When the temperature of water reaches a freezing point, the free flowing molecules
get trapped into organized crystal structures creating ice. However, when salt is
introduced it disrupts the process. When in contact with water, it splits up into two
ions, being Sodium and Chloride (NaCl). These ions move around in between the
structure which then leads to the ice melting due to the lowering to the freezing
point which means more water molecules are leaving and less are entering the
solid. When the temperature lowers even further, the water molecules leaving the
solid phase will slow down even further and the rate will eventually match the rate
at which water molecules can find the solid in the presence of salt. When water
leaves a solid at the same rate as molecules enter, a lower freezig point is established.

The test that will be conducted uses 500ml of water and different levels of salt and
sugar. Salt and sugar, the solutes, being the independent variables, will allow the
experiment to test the melting rate of ice at different concentration levels. By
adding salt and sugar in to separate ice trays after diluting it and freezing it, the
freezing point should be lowered, meaning that the rate at which the ice will melt
will decrease. This would also be the case if sugar was used along with
The Cause Of Macbeth s War
HOUSE OF DUNKELD Macbeth, King of Scotland, was brutally murdered in a
bloody civil war commanded by the late King Duncan I s son, Malcolm III, with the
support from the Thane of Fife and the Scottish nobles.
The battle took place in Dunsinane Hill when Malcolm III invaded the area and
brought with him an army he raised in England. The civil war was supported by
Scottish nobles, Earl of Northumbria, and Earl of Northumberland as the deceased
King Macbeth was greatly condemned for his paranoia and tyranny.
As Malcolm III and his army advanced towards the king s castle, the soldiers were
instructed to cut down tree limbs from Birnam Wood in order to disguise their
numbers. The army, shielded with boughs cut from Birnam Wood, successfully

considering a different way to go for a career option. There are many pluses when
you work in a traditional job, just as there are negatives. With your traditional job,
you are basically assured of receiving a paycheck every week. You go to work,
work your set hours and get paid for it. That suggests a certain amount of stability.
You know that paycheck will come so that you can pay your bills. That s the up
side of working a traditional job. Also with your traditional job, you may be in a
field you really enjoy. You could be a medical professional, working in a doctor s
office, or perhaps even in social work. Those types of jobs can be rewarding in
themselves, especially when you get to help people when you are working. That is
another good thing about working a regular job. But, when you think of it, there
are a lot of down sides too. Your 9 to 5 job may not offer you a lot of room for
advancement, which also means that your pay scale may be limited. You may not

Bed Bug Disadvantages
Bed Bug Extermination
Have you ever heard people complaining about itching or biting during night hours
or about having a large number of small insects crawling in all over the kitchen,
bedroom or at other places at home? Yes! These are bed bugs and they are what
people have been combating to get rid of them for years. They re the most devilish
and vulnerable creatures caused itching and biting leaving red spot, skin bumps and
welts on victim s skin. It is the most disgusting thing to look at. Besides these
apparent issues, there could be also other potential issues like sleeping disorders,
embarrassment and even studies show people suffering from paranoia that s the

Every year, bed bugs make thousands of the people to change their lodging to get a
better place free from bed bugs. But it is not sure that you ll be safe at new place.
People invest hundreds or even thousands of $$$ to get a pest controlling spray or
call some bugs examiners to get rid of them completely. They use every possible
ways that could potentially help them to spend a hygienic and healthy life again.
The question is that; do people get enough success that values their hard earned
money and time? The fact is that in most of the cases people leave in depression
and hopelessness after they have spent hundreds of dollars and their valuable times
as well. It is because the most of the products available in the market just work for
time being or no more effective against bed begs. On the other side, those products
have not been designed or formulated after conducting some good and proven
research derived from personal experience. The most of the product used for

bed bugs is not as easier thing as it is considered. Once they destroyed, they come

How does TripAdvisor affect the hospitality industry?
This report is going to research the affects TripAdvisor has on the hospitality industry.
TripAdvisor is the world s largest travel site, it enables potential customers to see
other opinions before they part with their cash. TripAdvisor has over 60 million
visitors per month looking through over 75 million reviews of hotels and
restaurants. The site operates in 30 countries worldwide making it a powerful and
unstoppable force. Tripadvisor.co.uk (2013) The next review site that even comes

Not only are reviews being used to damage a reputation but also used as black mail.
An investigation by the Times had implied that 80% of hoteliers and bed and

Scottish Independence Pros And Cons
In this essay I will discuss both sides of the referendum of Scotland and firstly short
about the current situation, and then finish it off with a conclusion. The issue of the
Scottish independence has been highly discussed for a couple of years. The reason
for that are after the Scottish national party won the election in 2011, their main goal
has been to make Scotlandindependent. Now it is up to the Scots to choose whether
they want to separate themselves from the United Kingdomor if they want to remain a
part of it. This decision could change Scotland for eternity and entirely.
There are many arguments on both sides for the referendum that was held in 2014,
about the Scottish independence. Firstly one of many reasons to make Scotland a
country is that, they would save a lot of money by banishing nuclear weapons from
Scottish soil is commitment from the SNP. Critics say that moving the submarines
wonВґt make to much difference, but it will make a decision for deciding against
the renewal of the weapons. Also the North Sea oil will revenues would be put in

in the European Union will come with following harsh demands and requests. But on
both sides the United Kingdom and Scotland has always been alongside in building

The World War I And The Red Scare
In the early 20th Century, the United States endured a time of political unrest. During
World War I, fears of socialism and communism entered the psyche of the United
States and culminated in the Red Scare. Hundreds of American citizens particularly
immigrants suffered unprecedented arrests and deportations (Fariello 4). During this
time, Charles Schenck, secretary of the Socialist Party of America, actively opposed
the war. Due to Schenck s efforts, the organization distributed thousands of leaflets
criticizing conscription and encouraging readers to assert rights against the draft and
intimidation (Schenck v. United States1). In the 1919 case Schenck v. United States,
the defendants were charged with violating the Espionage Act of 1917 by causing and
attempting to cause insubordination in U.S. military forces by distributing a
document denouncing the draft in name of the 13th amendment (Schenck 1). When
insurgency and fear continued, Congress amended the Espionage Act with the
Sedition Act, which limited many more forms of speech (Fariello 14).
At this point, society had to decide whether these limits on speech aligned with its
interests. Holmes similarly had to consider whether to forfeit his belief that ideals in
the Constitution and its Amendments exist absolutely (Cohen 27). In the end, he
decided that a balance between absolute ideals and the responsibilities of Congress
must prevail as the most fair compromise or standard. In this fairness, the Court

Gross Domestic Population, Gdp, And Economic Growth
Gross Domestic Population, GDP, is an estimate the value of all final goods and
services that are produced and traded for money within a given period of time. It is
measured by adding together a nation s consumption, government expenditures,
exports and capital formation. ( Marcuss and Kane, 2007). GDP estimates were used
to show that the economy could provide sufficient supplies while maintaining
production of consumer goods and services. Today, the GDP, measures economic
growth referred by economists, politicians, top level decision makers, and the media.
GDP measures everything except that which makes life worthwhile. ( Commission on

The economy of the state depends on commerce with trade partners from the
Netherlands, the United States, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago. The economic growth
of the state slowed due to the decline of the mining, construction and utility business.
The expenditures, poor tax collection, a bloated civil service and reduced foreign aid
contributed to the deficit which is 11% of the GDP. The government of Suriname
started to interact in its economy to assist in stabilizing its money structure, by
introducing price controls to contain inflation. The government outlawed all prices
increases on all of it services and goods. Anyone or business that did not comply by
the regulations or laws were faced with harsh sanctions, confiscating or closing their
businesses. The regulations stayed in place and kept the economy on the rise until
after the elections. Inflation started to rise as though the government had did
anything before. The government came back with another plan to regulate trade and
ration imported goods, but the business of smuggling thrived. These actions brought
on an exchange rate system, but the government did not fully understand the impact
of the rate system. Inflation spiraled out of control by 1994. The government came
with a new plan to start printing its own money. The government unified its exchange
rates and reformed its tax and customs system. They also eliminated the collection lag
in income and consumption tax. An

life threatening. Obsession is a big problem according to Dr. Roxanne Guy, who is
president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, some end up turning to

your appearance becomes an emotional need it has also become very dangerous.
Happiness and self satisfaction should not be achievable only through drastic
physical alterations. Beauty should never come at such a high cost when the

Leonardo da Vinci

Argumentative Essay On Obesity
Millions of people across the world are familiar with the concept of obesity,
possibly from a personal connection or knowing someone that has been affected by
it. I chose this subject because I have family members that have been directly
affected by obesity, and I wanted to learn more about it and widen my perspective.
Particular to the U.S., the country has had a reputation of being one of the most
obese countries in the world along with Mexico and New Zealand. Obesity has the
ability to affect people s dimensions of wellness including physical and mental.
Factors that can lead to obesity take on various form; some are physical such as the
food itself or common social mediums such as advertisements or the media. Given,
America is a melting pot of race and culture, who is to blame for the accusation? Is
it a certain group or type of people? Who is the authority of what country is
considered obese? And for those that claim America is obese, are they wrong or
right? I wanted to begin my exploration by getting a good understanding of what
obesity is. I found an article on The Obesity Society website titled What is
Obesity? and I figured I should start there. According to the article, obesity is
defined as excess adipose [(fat)] tissue. A fat cell is an endocrine cell, and adipose
tissue is an endocrine organ (Flegal and McDowell). Adipose tissue secretes
metabolites, cytokines, lipids, etc and causes increased levels of fatty acids and
inflammation (Flegal and

This report is aimed at investigating if the two major TNC s Nike and Gap

companies code of vendor conduct clearly states that no workers are employed under
the legal minimum age and sweatshops don t exist in their factories.

hours. Child labour is, as the word suggests, when children under the legal minimum

This excuse hinders outsiders knowing exactly what is happening inside the
factory. People didn t want to tell us about the factories whereabouts either, as they
were scared of getting physically assaulted by the security men surrounding the
factory. At last we found a factory called June Textiles, which manufactured
products for both Nike and Gap, but no one would tell us more than that. Checking
treatment of workers here was going to be a huge task. The factory was well
guarded and looked like any ordinary factory from the outside, but at that time we
didn t know what harsh realities workers were facing inside the factory.
We needed to talk to the workers on home turf, away from the security men
surrounding the factory. Late at night we got a call from a couple of workers who
said they were prepared to speak to us, if we met them after their shift, at their home.
For them to talk openly about the conditions in the factory was a big step.
This was the one of our first big surprises, 8 women were living together in a tiny
little room which on a regularly basis had power cuts and was without running
water. As we interviewed them they told us that Nike and Gap treat them as dirt,
they work 16 hours a day, which is 112 hours a week. This contradicts with Nike and
Gap s code of vendor conduct, which says ВґВґOn a regularly scheduled basis

Obra de arte interactivo
Mencionando a Rockeby se puede decir que la obra de arte interactivo tiene un
elemento complejo, indeterminado y sensible: El espectador.
No importa

Last Day Of School
The last day of school was a good day. Instead of having to take an ELAR exam we
did PSP. On the last day I had ELAR for 4th and 5th period. I didn t have to do
anything. Since we didn t have to take a test we got to play games and mess around.
The day went by really slow, but I was fine with that. I was having fun messing
around and playing board games with my friends. At last, I heard the bell ring.
I walked outside of the classroom and heard a lot of noise. Everyone was so excited
that school was over. After school, I went to Top Golf with my friends. I had a
blast and then went back to my friends house and swam. The next day was my
birthday party. My friend, Grant, and I have birthdays around the same time, so we
decided to have a birthday party together. I was turning 13 and Grant was turning 14.
I had my birthday party at a place called Group Dynamixs, it is a big indoor area
where you can play a ton of different games/sports and do indoor ropes courses. I had
a lot of fun, but I was super tired after. The next days of summer went by pretty slow
which was good. It seemed like each day was 48 hours. A month later, time started to
go by a little bit faster. I felt like July decided to have 25 days instead of 31 days. I
went to Austin, Texas from 7/1/17 to 7/6/17 which was fun. I go to a place in
Austin called Lakeway every year with my family. The hotel is on Lake Travis. It
was cool and interesting to see the fireworks over the lake. This trip felt like it went
Constantin Stanislavski s Framework
Stanislavski s framework is a movement of methods used to prepare on screen
characters and on screen characters to attract credible feelings to their exhibitions.
The strategy that was initially made and utilized by Constantin Stanislavski from
1911 to 1916 was in view of the idea of enthusiastic memory for which a performer
concentrates inside to depict a character s feelings in front of an audience. Later,
somewhere around 1934 and 1938, this strategy developed to a strategy for physical
activities in which feelings are delivered through the utilization of these actions. The
recent procedure is alluded to as Stanislavski s framework. This methodology was
created by Constantin Stanislavski, a Russian performer, executive, and theater
director at the Moscow Workmanship Theater . The framework is the consequence

The recent is an outgrowth of the American theater scene, especially in New York, in
the 1930s and 40s. Strategy acting showed up when performers and chiefs like Elia
Kazan, Robert Lewis, Lee Strasberg, first in the Gathering Theater and later in the On
screen characters Studio, connected the Passionate Memory procedure from
Stanislavski s framework. This strategy advanced in American theaters in light of the
fact that it was taught to Strasberg at the American Research facility Theater in the
1920s to the specific mental needs of the American on screen character of their time.
It has been recommended that Strasberg had admittance around then just to A

notwithstanding, did not take after Strasberg s strategy, as Stella Adlerwho went by

in any relationship, it is sometimes easy to give to much, or take too much. That is

Essay about Industrial Revolution Led to Labor Unions
As America became more industrial more people left their farms and small towns
to work in the city so they could pay their expenses, whatever they may be. This led
to the minimal pay of workers while the owners became wealthy leading to a
functional economy. Most would receive little money while the rest lived a life of
luxury. Since more factories were opening children, women, and immigrants could

The first strike was during the 1870 s in a coal region of Pennsylvania. The
conditions were harsh in the mines and there were few if any safety precautions. A
group of Irish miners organized a union in which they called Molly Maguires.
Pinkerton agents were sent in by the mine owners to control the Molly Maguires,
this event led to the formation of other strike groups. The Great Railroad Strike of
1877 was America s first nationwide strike. The strike was a result of a 10 percent
pay deduction by four of the largest railroads. Nearly 100,000 workers were idled
and approximately two thirds of the railroad mileage across the Unites States was
shut down with over 14 states and ten railroads involved (AP Study Notes: Rise of
Unions). President Hayes eventually sent troops to coral the strikers but they were
so unorganized that they eventually stopped and went back to work. The Pullman
Strike was an effect to the Pullman Palace Car Company hit a depression and cut
workers wages 25 40 percent while keeping the rent and housing prices the same.
Many of the workers joined the American Railroad Union. Debs, socialists that
followed Karl Marx s classless society, backed up the workers which resulted in
them being jailed. The strike is an example of a secondary labor boycott. The
workers cut off the town from food and goods. President Cleveland ordered troops to
break up the strike. The federal courts issued an injunction
Look Pass The Label By Paul Gauguin
Look Pass the Label
A few weeks ago, I visited the Museum of Modern Art. As I was going through the
second exhibition a particular painting caught my attention. Still life with three
puppies by Paul Gauguin was titled. My first encounter with this painting was
through the title, which made me create negative hypothesis on what the painting
was depicting. When looking at this painting all I could think about was my lack of
fascination towards animals, especially puppies, while the person standing next to
me was sighing and smiling about according to her how cute the puppies are .
Unlike that person, I am not an admirer of puppies and as result I move quickly
from the painting. However, as I made a second round on the exhibition, this time
when I saw the painting I was beginning to notice things like shapes, symbols and
colors and immediately forgot about my initial reaction. I begin to realize that there
might be more to the painting than what I originally saw, but I have been blind from
my initial judgments.
In my second observation I was able to look pass this initial judgments drawn by the
title. The title Still Life with Three Puppies confirm my assumptions about the
painting and prevented me from continuing seeing what the painting is trying to
depict. This name limited my thinking and didn t allow me to see the painting from
what it is.
In the still life with three puppies, Paul Gauguin painted the entire canvas white and
then added some color by painting blue
Antibiotic Investigation
The graph I have created is a line graph. I included the four types of antibiotics we
tested.
Control, which is a blank template and has no medicine on it, but acted example of
no effectiveness, penicillin, streptomycin, and tetracycline. The zone of inhabitation
is a circular shape around the circle pad of antibiotic that represents the effectiveness
of an antibiotic at a given dosage. It is measured in millimeters and included the
diameter of the disk of antibiotic. We determine the effectiveness of it by putting the
different measurements in three different categories. The categories are resistant,
intermediate, and susceptible. Resistant means that the antibiotic was not effective,
intermediate means it was slightly effective, and susceptible ... Show more content on

coli, and the other was for s. epi. We covered the inside of each petri dish (that had a
jelly base) with the bacteria it was designated for. After that, we split both dishes
into four sections. In the middle of each section we would put an antibiotic disc.
After all four of the antibiotics were placed in each dish with tweezers, they were
incubated overnight. The next day, we measured the zone of inhabitance around
each antibiotic disc. I had two statements in my hypothesis. If S. epi is gram
positive, then penicillin, streptomycin, and tetracycline will be effective on it
because each one reacts with gram positive bacteria. If E. coli is gram negative,
then streptomycin and tetracycline will be effective on it because each one reacts
with gram positive bacteria. I reject the first statement in my hypothesis because
only one of the antibiotics was susceptible on s. epi, while the others were
resistant. I accept my second hypothesis because both streptomycin and tetracycline
were susceptible on the e. coli bacteria. We can relate this experiment to the outside
world by testing the effectiveness of antibiotics on certain diseases and infections.
This important for the care and treatment of people so they can continue living
their lives. If I or a friend every needed to know the effectiveness of a antibiotic
against a bacteria I can look up labs similar to this one to make sure we are taking

What Is A Day At The Piqua City Pool Essay
A Day at the Piqua City Pool The spring of 2017 I came across a great summer job
opportunity. My best friend, Hailey McPherson, worked at the Piqua City Pool the
summer before. She told me it was a fun job and an easy way to make some
money. Going into my junior year, I knew that it was time to save up money for
my future. Taking Hailey s suggestion into consideration, I went to the city building
to get an application. Once I got home, I started filling out the application and I was
so confused. The paper required so much information that I didn t know. Finally, I
asked my mom for help. When I had everything completed, I had to get three
references. I went to all my coaches because they are the people that know me best.

My coworker broke up the ice and scoop it into a bowl. Then, they would hand the
bowl to me and I would dump it into the top of the machine. This job was very
tedious and one of my least favorite things to do. After that, I would pour the liquid
into the slushy machine so it could freeze. Next, I would fill the three washing
sinks. The left sink was for warm soapy water and the middle sink was empty for
rinsing. The right sink was filled with diluted bleach. Right before open, 11:00, I
would put the hot dogs on the rollers. When the pizza arrived, I would put them into
the warmers. When everything was finished, my coworker and I would sit and wait

On most days the pool wasn t extremely busy. Typically, I would only get busy

drinks. The runner would get all the food prepared. I always had to be wearing
gloves. Anytime I touched anything but food, I had to get new ones. Usually, I
had all the food prepared, but when it gets really busy we runout. Sometimes I
would have to heat up the pretzels or hot dogs in the microwave. I hated when that
would happen because I would have to run from the staff room back to the
concession stand. After an adult swim, I had to fill up a bucket with soapy water
and go wash the tables outside. The kids made the worst messes! I found things like

Feminism In The Merchant Of Venice
In the society of Venice, the social system called patriarchy is quite ordinary. The
feminist literary criticism attempts to analyze patriarchies, where men hold the
majority of power, while women are denied access of it. In the sought after play
called, The Merchant Of Venice, by William Shakespeare, women are treated
unequally to men. Furthermore, women are not allowed to choose their own
husbands as well as given a chance to solve legal disputes. As proven in the play,
the patriarchal society of Venice over rules women. When men failed to use
compassion in their society, women are able to solve problems by getting
involved. A man named Bassanio from Belmont is in love with a woman named
Portia who comes from Venice. In order to impress Portia, he is in dire need of
money. Bassanio looks to his friend Antonio who is able to receive a loan from a
man named Shylock in Venice. When Antonio fails to pay back the money, he
must in return give a piece of his flesh away. Although Antonio made a deal with
Shylock, the men fail to recognize how painful it would be if they were to sacrifice
their own flesh. This discrepancy calls for capable women who can bring in a sense
of compassion for Antonio. Although limited by their society, Portia and Nerissa
decide they have the power to create a resolution. This leads the women to dressing
up as men in order to have a say in the case. While trying to settling the dispute,
Shylock continues to refuse anything short of the
Dry Tortugas National Park Research Paper
I went to Dry Tortugas National Park this summer. It s the farthest Florida Key and is
at least a 70 mile boat or plane trip. This year is the park s 100th anniversary and I
was so excited, and scared, to go. It was established because once Ponce de LeГіn
caught around 160 turtles there. Also, what makes this park unique is that 99% of it
is under water and since the water is so shallow there are many shipwrecks. I love fish
and all but seaweed, on the other hand, is one of my biggest fears.
The next day, I woke up and went to the place that the ferry would pick me up at.
The park provided the ferry ride. The ferry was named the Yankee Freedom III. It
was a lot bigger than I thought it would be and it looked pretty nice inside. When I
sat down, a few moments later a girl named Chloe sat next to me. ... Show more

WALMART AND TARGET:
A COMMUNICATION COMPARISON
INTRODUCTION
Many discount retailers have come and gone over the years, but Wal Mart and more
recently Target, have employed business models that continually deliver profits, even
in the struggling economy of the United states in recent years. Wal Mart and Target
both have expanded rapidly since their inception and while Wal Mart has become an
international retailer with stores in fifteen countries and all over the United States
while Target has... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of the success of Target stores, the company was renamed Target Corporation
in August 2000. Target Corporation has three main divisions: Target Stores, Mervyn
s, and Marshall Field s. Target Stores, the second largest discount retailer, offers
products geared to attract a more affluent discount shopper. The Target customer is
much younger than other discount BIG BOX stores with an average age of just 40,
mostly female, have children and are college graduates. The distinction in customer
base is important due to the emphasis on quality at lower prices. Target separates
itself from its competitors by offering more up to date and stylish products, better
quality, while still keeping prices lower. The attractiveness of the store presentations
and the employee attentiveness also gives Target an edge against other BIG BOX
discount retailers.
Target s sales revenues have consistently grown since 2008, in spite of economical
challenges. Ending sales for 2011 topped $69 million, a $2 million increase over the
previous year. Sales increases show that their marketing, advertising and
communication styles are working to bring in new customers and to retain the
customers they have.
Summary
Wal Mart and Target are both discount BIG BOX retailers which have made the most
of their strengths and have drawn upon the differences in their customer bases,
product mix and business strategy. Even though both
Indoctrination In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
Everyone has an understanding on what goes on in life. We all agree in a general
sense. Mountains are mountains, and rivers are rivers. The Lottery by shirley
jackson has taken this idea to a whole new level. Shirley introduces a culture in which
indoctrination has taken over. The lottery might seem like the happiest day in the
world to most people, but on June 27th in the local village square an unordinary
tradition takes place. Through the allegory The Lottery, Shirley Jacksondepicts,
through extreme satire, a society that includes Mr. Joe Summers who blindly follows
a tradition in which amplifies the theme of indoctrination, even tho he does not
believe in it.
The ignorance of the society is a metaphor of the recurring theme of indoctrination.
Reflection Paper On Baton Rogue
You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can
never repay you. John Bunyan. Last summer, I had the pleasure of doing just that.
Baton Rogue in Louisiana was city devastated by flooding but united by service.
Our church wished to help, and as luck would have it the St. Bernard Project
organization would sponsor a volunteer group down to Baton Rogue to help
rebuild houses. I wished to be a part of the group, and I was permitted after our
youth director agreed to include the 9th graders as well. I was very excited and
was ready to go. My sister, Hailey, would be going with me sorta like my guide.
Little did I know that this trip would change my view of what it means to be an
American and my ideas on volunteering forever. Our bus was loaded in the parking
lot of the church, and after saying goodbye to our parents, I hopped on and settled
down for a long ride. Twenty five hours is a very long time to be on a bus granted
we stopped for meals along the way. When we finally pulled into the hotel in Baton
Rogue, I wanted nothing more than to just get to our room and head to sleep. The
real fun would begin the next day when we would finally get to work. I was not
really sure what to expect the next morning. I knew I was going to work, but I didn
t think of who I was working for and how much it would mean to them. Rest assured,
I would figure all that out over the course of the week. Morning in Louisiana in the
summer is not pleasant. The air is heavy

Scapegoat Incident Analysis
The experience I had as a member of a group in which someone became a
scapegoat involves a situation in which I was a scapegoat. This situation occurred
last year, September of 2015, not long after starting to take classes at Teachers
College. The class in which this incident occurred was Fundamentals of
Cooperation, Conflict Resolution, and Mediation in Different Institutional
Contexts. I was assigned to a group at the time by the professor of the class. I will
speak in third person regarding this incident. The scapegoat was created based on an
incident that occurred during one of the first team meetings. The group as a whole
were discussing the homework assignment from the previous week. The task was to
give a personal definition of the word conflict. As different members of the group
mentioned their definitions, the soon to be scapegoat illustrated a difference of
opinion. While all the other members of the group discussed how conflict can be
negative, the scapegoat mentioned during his definition that conflict, while tough to
address at times, had the potential to be positive. Immediately, the individual who
was seen as the group s leader disagreed and so did the... Show more content on

The scapegoat accepted being the target because this is a usual part of life that he
expected. The scapegoat acted with an acceptable mindset instead of an
unacceptable one. A unacceptable sort of mindset would have allowed the
scapegoat to state that how they are treating him is not fair. He could have
mentioned that the group should not have treated him differently whether it be
because of stereotypes, difference of opinion, or for doing what they wish they
would have done, which was to study before class. It is possible that he may have
gained an ally either in the professor (the professor disagreed with the group s
opinion in a class discussion and acknowledged the scapegoat s) or other students

Mortician Career Essay
Within the working force, I myself would like to enter into the career of Mortuary
Science as a Mortician. Morticians are people who prepare the bodies of the
deceased for burial or cremation. Morticians are actually needed in the work field,
meaning with the proper requirements and experience you re likely to find a job.
This career requires a mass of knowledge in which you will need to prepare for.
There were frequent steps taken to compile research on this career. Countless
resources were available for me to perceive various types of information, as a matter
of fact I chose the internet as my first reliable source. I went about going on the
internet as I acknowledge a website from my English teacher, Ms. French called

One day while I was at school, I decided to enter the library and scope out as many
books there were in my occupation. First, I went to the librarian, Mrs. Williams
and asked if she could search for books about Morticians, which lead me to nothing
meaning I had to narrow my source. We then changed the search for books about
dead bodies and the people who dealt them and I lucked up. In conclusion I came
across three books. Ordinarily, I would proceed to gather the books, but I assured
myself that each would be profitable before collecting.. Due to the heaps of research
being needed, our teacher provided us with another source to help out ,eventually
leading us to visual job shadowing. During the visual job shadowing, I saw a funeral
director who was helping families decided what kind of service to have. As the
funeral director was talking to the family, he was writing obituary notices. In addition,
he was also arranging a burial or cremation documentation. Throughout the video, I
was aware that the funeral director needed to notify the government agency of his
Causes That Lead To PI Resistance In HIV-1
The multi step inhibition mechanism of PIs can result in complex mutation pathways
that lead to PI resistance in HIV 1. The cause of virological failure in patients taking
PIs are drug resistance mutations outside the active site of HIV 1 protease, but rather
throughout the matrix and capsid proteins of the Gag polyprotein in HIV1. While the
mutational pathway that leads to resistance to PIs in HIV 1 is not yet fully
understood, mutations in Gag polyproteins have been shown to be associated with
changes in PI susceptibility with or without mutations in HIV 1 protease. Mutations
in Gag L449F mutation, for example, has been seen to rescue HIV 1 protease
activity and increase overall efficiency of catalytic Gag polyprotein cleavage,... Show

Analyzing the three dimensional distribution of coevolving Gag residues, Codoner
et al found that the correlated residues in the matrix are clustered on the inner
surface on the trimer. As these surfaces were previously associated with interactions
between gp41, a subunit of HIV 1 envelope protein, and the matrix, Codoner et al.
concluded that these mutated residues are representative of novel interprotein
interactions that modifies matrix stability in order to affect viral fusogenicity. This
is further supported by several coevolving p17 residues (residues 66, 69, and 98)
were also previously shown to be contributed to matrix stabilization and the
incorporation of viral envelope proteins into immature viral particles. Thus, Codoner
et al hypothesized that coevolving residues in HIV 1 matrix may affect HIV 1
resistance to PIs by modifying particle maturation and viral fusogenicity (Codoner et
al, 2017).
Studying the molecular basis of Gag protease coevolution, Ozen et al. found that
coevolved Gag protease complexes were also able to restore protease active site
dynamics by increasing Gag protease interactions. Under selective pressures of PIs,
Ozen et al. found that
Explain How Helen Keller Learned To Communicate
Yin and Yang is a popular symbol that shows that to reach greatness, one must have
balance. But to have balance, one must know that there is good in the bad and the
bad in the good. Everyone has or eventually will come face to face with something
that will bring hardships into their lives. When faced with adversity, one must
learn to live with it to overcome it. This may take time, or it may be instant. By
allowing people to help you, keeping a positive attitude, and accepting who you are,
people can overcome obstacles they are facing. With no doubt, people going through
something need to know there is nothing wrong with asking people for help. In the
text The Story of My Life and the video How Helen KellerLearned to Talk, they both
talked about how Helen Keller learned to communicate by allowing people to help
her. Helen Keller, despite her inability to see and hear, she managed to learn how
to communicate, but she first had to allow Ms. Sullivan to help her. When Helen
Keller was left with Ms. Sullivan, she at first refused to listen to Ms. Sullivan.
When she finally listened, she realized that Sullivan was doing and learned to
communicate. Also, in the text The Circuit, Panchito asked his teacher to help him,
and he ended up making a new friend. Panchito felt as if he was always going to be
behind in his studies and was going to continue his life as a migrant worker, but his
teacher gave him hope. When Panchito asked his teacher to help him, he also became

Essay about Public Grazing Lands
The grazing of public lands has become a very controversial issue over the last
couple of decades. This is due to the fact that there are some people who believe that
grazing the land is beneficial to the wildlife and the different plant species there. Then
there are other people who have the belief that the grazingof livestockon public lands
is detrimental to wildlife and plant health. Therefore, they believe that it is actually
doing more harm than good.
What are Public Grazing Lands? Public lands are properties that are not owned by
private land owners, but instead are owned by the federal government. Ranchers are
given permits or leases to graze their livestock on these government owned lands. The

to Marc Stimpert in, Counterpoint: opportunities lost and opportunities gained:
separating truth from myth in the western ranching debate , after the passage of the
Taylor Grazing Act the Congress started to use the Forest Service s system of
allocating grazing lands. There were three purposes for passing the act 1) to
regulate occupancy of remaining public lands; 2) protect rangelands from harm; and
3) to stabilize the livestock industry (Stimpert). The passage of the act gave power to
the Secretary of Interior to create grazing districts on public lands (Stimpert). The
Taylor Grazing Act also has the BLM regulate the occupancy and use of a grazing
district. According to Stimpert, the act balance the need to protect ranchers with the
need to protect rangelands.
BLM and Management Aspects
The BLM manages about 245 million acres of public land and of those lands they
manage 157 million grazing livestock. The BLM website states that the terms and

Why I Learned With Studying Linguistics
I was the child who never knew what she wanted to be when she grew up. I could
see myself doing everything because I knew that I could do anything. Fascinated by
their complexity and similarities, I slowly fell in love with languages. Nothing is
quite as beautiful as their nuances and how they vary among people. With this novel
fascination, I decided that I wanted to learn as many languages as I possibly could
and everything about them and their connections to other languages. In addition,
understanding intricate grammar rules comes easily to me, and I have always
enjoyed its structure and patterns. If I combine these two interests of mine, it is
apparent that I should study linguistics. I had figured out what I wanted to study, but
not what to do after college. I remembered helping my friends in Latin last year with
the grammar rules of English and how I am constantly correcting my family s
improper grammar, and I realized that I love explaining and teaching languages. With
this realization, I decided that I wantto teach English as a second language. Now I had
to decide what college to attend. After obsessing over the magnificent Hogwarts in
all of its glory in Harry Potter, I couldn t imagine not wanting to go to castle looking
college. Who doesn t want to go to a college that looks like a castle? Being the
perfect amalgamation of appearance and exemplary linguistics department,
Cambridge is the school for me.

The Minister’s Black Veil by Nathaniel Hawthorne
One of literatures greatest quality is allowing the reader s mind to uncover subliminal
messages in an attempt to form their own understandings and ideas. Perhaps, this
particular process is commonly described in the idiom reading between the lines.
While many writers have implanted this literary aspect into their works, this essay
focuses on a specific parable written by Nathaniel Hawthorneentitled The Minister s
Black Veil. Notably, a parable is a simple story used to illustrate a moral or spiritual
lesson. The characters and setting of which Hawthorne uses to get his point across
creates an overwhelming atmosphere that increases the power of his message. An

In this parable, Mr. Hooper gives an invisible element in sin a physical appearance
in the black veil which now makes his sin a connection between himself, God, and
the townspeople. It is apparent that Mr. Hooper is dealing with some sort of internal
conflict and his way of confronting his issue is by covering his face from everyone
with the black veil.
Lastly, there are several themes in The Minister s Black Veil relating to topics
including sin, guilt, fear, and judgment. The first theme focuses on people s
reaction to change. Soon after Mr. Hooper covers his face, people secluded
themselves from him and gave him bewildered stares even after he showed them
courtesy. Likewise, his wife Elizabeth left him after she failed to persuade him to
abandon the black veil. The narrator also explains how Mr. Hooper created a group
of converts as well as how people at their deathbed would not take their last breath
until they received consolation from Mr. Hooper. Strangers began to travel from
long distances just to hear his sermons and gaze at his figure. Another theme found
in The Minister s Black Veil is that people fear what they do not know and do not
understand. The mystery of the black veil perhaps was the biggest thing that
intimidated the townspeople. Mr. Hooper is overcome with the same horror as the
townspeople when he catches a glimpse of himself. In an attempt to solve the mystery
of the black veil, the townspeople past judgment and create

How Democratic The European Union
T he following paper will address the question of how democratic the European
Union is by analysing each of its institutions and the decision procedures in the
European context. It will take into account the special role of the European Union as
a system of polycentric governance (Garner, 2009: 230), and the complex
relationships between its institutions and the institutions of its member countries.
Hereby taking into account that the EU can be characterized as a system of network
governance in which the state is vertically and horizontally segmented and its role has
changed from authoritative allocation from above to the role of an activator (Crum
and Fussom, 2009: 257). The EU with its high degree of complexity remains unique
in the world of governance and shouldn t be compared to nation states. Following a
multilevel approach that recognises this uniqueness the question whether the
scepticism towards the EU s institutions and the voices that see a democratic deficit
inherent in the EU are right shall be answered.
When analysing the system of the EU on grounds of its democratic legitimacy it is
important to define democracy itself. Democracy is a value laden term that has
various meanings and comes in different shapes (e.g. representative vs. direct
democracy). As none of the member states in the EU practices direct democracy to a
mentionable extent it would not be suitable to assess the EU on terms of direct
democratic participation. A reasonable
Antwone Dream Analysis
Psychodynamic therapists find that free association is helpful in treating their clients
because it allows them to say whatever comes to mind. The client is encouraged to
talk about anything and everything seeing as it may help them accept any kind of
limitations or discord they may have. This process of treatment would not be the best
route for Antwone s therapist to take. Antwone struggles in creating conversation out
of nothing and when it comes to talking about his issues, that process is no different.
Dream analysis, however, could be an effective way for a counselor to treat the
problems that Antwone is having. As a currently angry individual, Antwone recalls
some of the dreams he was having when trying to sleep. The movie opens ... Show

There are many concepts that can be used to help conceptualize the problems that
Antwone Fisher experiences.
To begin conceptualizing Antwone s feelings through an Adlerian lens, a counselor
might try to spot inferiority feelings within the client. These feelings are always
present and ultimately act as a motivating force behind an individual s outward
behavior. One could argue that Antwone s inferiorities stem from the abuse he
suffered at such a young age, which halted the average development most humans
encounter. In order for an individual to overcome these inferiorities, they begin to act
in compensative behaviors. Since Antwone s traumas began in infancy, he never had
any kind of stable environment and the one in which he was finally placed (the Tate
s) caused him to quickly feel inferior. Antwone may have ultimately developed an
inferiority complex because he was never able to compensate his inferiority feelings
as an infant. The inferiority complex that Antwone developed has prevented him
from being able to cope with the demands of life enabling him to use violence as a
way to forget.
Antwone s problems can be further conceptualized when thinking about social
interest and community feeling. Social interest is being concerned about others just as
much as an individual is concerned about oneself. Community feeling is concerned
with feeling connected to all of humanity. Antwone, throughout the movie, is seen

Essay Of Eating Customs
Eating customs traditions in Great Britain
The usual meals in Great Britain are breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner; or in simplier
homes, breakfast, dinner, tea and supper. Breakfast is generally a bigger meal than
you can have it on the Continent, though some English people like a continental
breakfast of rolls and butter and coffee. But the usual breakfast is porridge or Corn
Flakes with milk or cream and sugar, becon and eggs, marmalade with butter toast,
and tea or coffee. For a change you can have a boiled egg, cold ham, or perhaps
fish. Lunch is usually served between twelve and one o clock. The businessman in
London usually finds it impossible to come home for lunch, and so he goes to a

It is clearly that beverage sales are not only an important part of the sales mix of
hospitality establishments but also more profitable than food sales. Coffee is one
of the most popular beverages of the world. It is made from berries grown in
tropical climates and shipped to the country green that is unroasted. The berries
produced vary in composition and the treatment after picking. For this reason,
Mocha, Java, Arabica and South American coffees are quite distinct from each
other. There are three main methods of preparing coffee boiling, percolating and
drip method. The coffee should not stand long before serving. Tea is made from
the leaves of tea bush which is indigenous to the Orient. Black tea is made from
leaves which are fermented before drying. Green tea is not fermented; the leaves
are steamed and dried. There are two main ways of serving tea: English tea is
served in cups and with milk or cream; Russian tea is served in glasses with a slice
of lemon. Cocoa and chocolate. As beverages made from them are generally made
with milk, they are much more nutritious than the other beverages. Cocoa and
chocolate are made from beans or seeds of trees which grow in tropical countries.
Also drinks can be classified into soft drinks which contain no spirits (such as
lemonades, Pepsi, Coke, etc.) and strong ones, they contain some part of alcohol
(such as whisky, gin, wine, liquor, beer). Tea in English is a suitable occasion for
Tea In Early America
Thank God for tea, This was quoted by the clergymen and essayist Reverend
Sydney Smith. Tea was around before america was. Tea was something that
evolved over the course of years. Many cultures drank tea back then and still do to
this day. There are several types of tea. There are several areas of topic to cover when
discussing tea: some of the subjects that will be covered will be; the history of tea,
and having, and what was served.
Before the Westerners began drinking tea they began the day beer or ale. Tea,
coffee, and even chocolate were very rare. During the seventeenth century tea began
to be known around europe. Before tea was consumed for pleasure and relaxation, it

Iced tea was not consumed regularly until the turn of the twentieth century. Before
america was even a country, americans still enjoyed tea. The Dutch brought tea
over to the new world. The East India company brought tea before the english were
aware of tea. The Dutch were accustomed to tea by the late 1630s. It had spread to
New Amsterdam and Future New York, by the end of 1650. New York used to be
called future New York. tea was prepared in numerous variations in the colonies.
There were tea leaves that were boiled in Salam, and the tea was bitter. This bitter
concoction was served alongside veggies and butter was on top to garnish. Ladies
in New Amsterdam would put on a tea that resembled new colony. They used silver
strainers, porcelain cups and pots and wooden tea caddies. President Harrison was
licensed to sell tea in 1690. Even after the British government levied taxes on tea it
was still popular. The colonist did not in fact pay taxes because they snuck the tea

Honor In The Odysseus
In the Disney movie Mulan, a young heroine, Mulan, disguises herself as a man to
fight for her country and restore honor to her family. She, similar to Odysseus, must
save her country from invaders, The Huns for Mulan and the suitors for Odysseus.
Both protagonists face many trials that test their loyalty and honor. And both prevail,
becoming great, respected leaders of their people. Honor as well as loyalty are
significant characteristics of a respected person. The Odyssey, written by Homer in
the eighth century BCE, is a common story with multiple retellings that focuses on
the journey of Odysseusand his son Telemachus. Odysseus is a war hero of the
Trojan War, and the tale focuses on the conflicts he faces while journeying home. In
this story, Odysseus shows how honor and loyalty play a pivotal role in defining the
success of a leader, and how the absence of these traits leads to anarchy and turmoil
within a ruler s domain.
The necessity of honor and loyalty in a ruler are seen during the Odysseus absence
in his kingdom of Ithaka. During the 16th year that Odysseus is missing, suitors
come from all over the land to win the hand of Odysseus wife, Penelope, presuming
Odysseus is dead. Because Odysseus is absent, the country is having a turn for the
worse with the arrival of the suitors. The suitors take over the royal residence, [the
suitors] use our house as if it were a house to plunder (Homer 9). Without a ruler

Kurt Cobain Essay

Performer s Lifespan: 1987 1994 Location: Seattle (Aberdeen), Washington Band
Members: Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl, and Krist Novoselic Bio: Childhood friends
Kurt Cobain and Dave Krist Novoselic originally formed the group in Aberdeen,
Washington in 1987. They didn t really hit the scene, however, until the release of
their first album, Bleach, in 1989. The record sold several thousand copies and
was pretty successful for being produced for only $600. In 1990, Dave Grohl who,
according to the Encyclopedia of Popular Music, is an experienced member of the
Washington DC punk rock scene replaced the group s drummer. It was this trio
that became so popular in the early 1990s and remains well known today. With his
furious screams and lethargic grumbles the style of Kurt Cobain s voice really
makes the band s sound original (Encyclopedia of Popular Music). A great example
of this style is the hit Smells Like Teen Spirit from their most popular album
Nevermind. Following the success of this album, Cobain began to struggle with the
lack of appreciation for his social commentary through music, keeping a very hostile
view toward his fame. The group s last album, In Utero, holds a very confrontational
tone toward the corporate machines that turned them into... Show more content on

Intelligent Traffic Surveillance System Essay
Abstract Due to the traffic accidents over the last few years; the development of
surveillance systems with multifunctional techniques has received increasing
attention. The use of the smart camera is one solution to solve the traffic problems,
Smart cameras are cameras that can perform tasks far beyond simply taking photos
and recording videos. Intelligent Traffic Surveillance System (ITSS) is used to
monitor the roads in preventing accidents at the same time finding what causes the
accidents. This is done by implementing some image vision protocols as that of
Gaussian and Canny. This paper will discuss about the cameravideo surveillance
capabilities of tracking across different and varied road environments including

Thus, vehicles detection in cluttered environment is an open problem. The major
difficulties lie in:
Vehicles are a non rigid object. In other words, the shape and size of vehicles vary
greatly, and therefore the models of vehicles are much more complex than that of
others objects.
In the case of the clutter background. It does not matter if we are analyzing images
from a typical city or from a country traffic environment or highways; the
background formed by trees, wire poles, and billboards is much cluttered. Most of
these backgrounds can be taken for vehicles, due to their similar shapes.
Illumination and weather conditions vary greatly. The on vehicle vision systems must
be able to deal with the different illumination conditions [2].
One of the goals is to develop a system that can be used to Monitor the highways and
prevent accidents by implementing an algorithm program in OpenCV (IntelВ® open
source computer vision library), Real time tracking objects will be achieved by using
a smart camera which captures the frames and sends the image signals to the main
server
The system will be a replacement of human for triggering alarms which if something
dangerous has happened or potential horrific scenario (potential accidents) is about to
happen. In general this project consists of a smart camera system interconnected with
wireless technology for traffic surveillance which
Republican Party Beliefs
The Republican Party believes in conservatism and traditional practices. They are
strongly opposed to same sex marriage and feel that heterosexual marriage is the
only right way. Republicans feel that the only ways to economic profit are free
market and individual achievement. In addition they oppose high tax rates for the
wealthy and believe raising the minimum wage is going to directly hurt the economy.
Republicans wish to see increased funding and modernization to the military. In their
eyes, a strong defense system is the only way to peace. The Republican Partywould
like a large reform in social security and want workers to control their own retirement
investments.
On the other hand, the Democratic Party generally supports workers rights and
government programs to help people in need. The democrats are for same sex
marriage and fight for their equality. They feel that our economy should help
everyone not just the wealthy, and that big business and corporations pay their fair
share of taxes. In addition, they want to prevent business from taking advantage of
the public. Democrats feel that there are better ways to make peace with terrorism
such as through diplomacy and only using force when necessary. They also believe
that we should not have to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being in the middle class, our economy is set up for the wealthy. We need to fight
for fairer taxes. Another point I agree with is they believe that hard work should
pay off, responsibility should be rewarded, and each one of us should be able to go
as far as our talent and drive take us. I also agree with their view on homeland
security. I do not believe that violence is the only answer to making peace.
Democrats believe we should not have to give up certain freedoms just to keep our
country safe, and I feel the same way. We are far too advanced and have so much
intelligence now that we should not have to give up our

Supernatural is not very appropriate for little children or school. My dad doesn t

He had to take care of Sammy when they were younger. That is what Dean calls
Sam. Their mother died when they were young, but Dean still remembers her. Sam
doesn t remember much just little bits and parts. There was a demon in Sam s
nursery, and she walked in because he was crying. The demon pushed her against the

So Sam had to put his friendships, school, relationships, and his life on pause to go

Ray s crack operation resembles a business in the way he is able to specifically
lowering of prices and his raising of the quality of the product made business boom
(Bourgois 82). In any business most mangers want to make profit and in order to
make profit you have to differentiate yourself from your competitors. In rays case
his competitors were the low quality power cocaine sold in the grocery store and
the budget rate crack the teenagers sold. Ray sold a higher quality product with a
lower price which made people want to buy his product over his competitor. Just like
any legitimate business you need to discipline workers and gauge the needs of his
customers (Bourgois 135). In most business as a manager you need to maintain
your employee to make sure their doing their job, scheduling them and you also
have to make sure you re giving your customers what they want. The only reason
Ray and Primo wanted to work legal was because they fantasize about goin legit

Diagnosing Intellectual Disability
Intellectual Disability (ID) There are various types of standardized psychological test
that are used to assess intellectual disability. IQ test are designed to measure different
mental abilities. Reasoning, problem solving, abstract thinking, judgment, academic
learning, and experiential learning are used to measure mental abilities (counseling
services). The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children Fourth Edition (WISC IV),
Woodcock Johnson III Normative Update Tests of Cognitive Abilities (NU), and the
Stanford Binet Intelligence Scales Fifth Edition (SB5) are a few of the assessments
that can be used when diagnosing ID. Schoolcounselors can use cognitive behavioral
interventions. According to the ASCA the school counselor s role in working with

free movement of persons in EU
Introduction The concept of the Union Citizenship introduced at Maastricht for the
first time in 1992 and a number of rights were specified in the treaty which can be
enjoyed by the citizens. Directive 2004/38 strengthened and displaced most of the
legislation that were governing the rights of different category of people under EU
law, including workers, job seekers, self employed, families, students, etc. Moreover,
discrimination on the ground of nationality is prohibited on matters such as taxation,

various rights which can be enjoyed by them under article 20(2) TFEU. Under the

right of residence is given to EU citizens under CRD 2004/38 is different for
different groups. Under article (6) Union citizens have the right of residence up to
three months without any condition. However, under article (7), the right of
residence for more than three months is conditioned and it is only for workers, self

on the host Member State. Moreover, Union citizens have the right of permanent
residence if they continuously reside in the host Member State for five years (article

Tivo Case Analysis
TiVo and Consumers
TiVo is a brand of digital video recorder that offers numerous functions far advanced
than the regular VCR or DVD player. The TiVo recorder has the ability to pause and
replay live TV as well as an array of flexible recording services that is personalized
for the consumers.
The adoption of TiVowhen it was first released was facilitated by the belief that
consumers who owned a TiVo black box and subscribed to the TiVo service can
take control of what programs to watch and when to watch them. The device
attracted consumers who were tired of missing their favorite shows because they
were too busy to watch them. TiVo also enabled people to fast forward over

This information will make it easier for advertisers to create more personal,
attention grabbing commercials. TV network stations also faced changes thanks
to TiVo s innovative technology. The normal rules of placing shows on specific
days at a certain time no longer applied since people could now record and watch
any show at any time. On the other hand, this also led to networks being able to
track how well a new show is doing before it even airs by looking at how many
people were recording it. In the fall of 2000, Microsoft introduced UltimateTV.
Similar to TiVo, Microsoft s UltimateTV was a DVR add on to its WebTV service
which already offered email and web browsing, things which TiVo did not.
UltimateTV also had other features such as recording two shows at once and 30
second skip. Microsoft s UltimateTV did have some weaknesses, however. This
included a lack of time in the DVR market and a relatively small group of current
subscribers to their WebTV service. Thus, Microsoft needs to convince consumers not
only that UltimateTV is superior to TiVo but that WebTV is a useful tool.
Marketing Plan
TiVo s marketing plan was greatly influenced by disappointing Christmas sales in
1999. They brought the price way down from nearly $1,000 to less than $500. Early
adopters were not willing to consider the technology at $1,000.
This ties in closely to the problems they had with the product section of the marketing
mix. TiVo was
Howard Hughes H 4 Hercules Research Paper
1.)Explain why this person has had significant impact. When most people think of
Howard Hughes, they probably don t think of a billionaire Filmmaker, instead the
thing that comes to mind is most likely the Hughes H 4 Hercules, better known as
the Spruce Goose. This aircraft is one of the largest ever constructed and it was
first flown over 70 years ago (H 4 Hercules Flying Boat, n.d.). This aircraft,
although one of Hughes most impressive, was merely one of countless aviation
records he set. Hughes s first aviation record was merely a straight line speed record
of 212 mph, but this sparked his interest leading to countless other records (Fame,
2017). One of these included a transcontinental flight record set in 1937 which stood
through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One great example is the aim to build streamlined aircraft capable of high speed
and efficiency. Hughes rigorous pursuit of building the very best aircraft continues
to this day. Almost all modern aircraft use flush rivets and smooth streamlined
surfaces to cut through the air. Another of Hughes s contributions was simply
inspiring public interest in aviation. The Hughes H 4 Hercules, although not a
success by most defections, still motivates public interest in aviation today.
Displayed in a museum, what was for a very long time the world s largest aircraft
is a sight to behold and will probably inspire future aviators for decades to come.
Before that his movie Hell s Angels immeasurably changed the public perception of
aviation, and although it is not known for sure, that movie was likely an inspiration
to many who have changed the path of aviation for the better. Another of Hughes s
contributions, although not directly related to aviation, Hughes Electronics
Corporation founded what is one of the largest providers of satellite television,
DirecTV. Hughes had a space division as early as the 60 s, but it wasn t until after
his death that this division split off. Hughes Electronics Corporation was founded in
1985 and built primarily satellites, up until it stepped into the satellite telecom
service sector (Amir, n.d.). As of the year 2000, forty percent of all operating satellites
Foil Characters On Raskolnikov In Crime And Punishment
Effect of Foil Characters on Raskolnikov in Crime and Punishment Foil characters
serve the purpose of highlighting characteristics of the protagonist that otherwise
would not be pointed out. In Fyodor Dostoevsky s Crime and Punishment,
Raskolnikov has several foils that emphasize his personality traits. Razumikhin,
Sonia, Dunya, and Svidrigailov can all be considered foil characters to Raskolnikov.
Though each of the characters mentioned are affect Raskolnikov, Sonia and
Svidrigailov are arguably the most influential on Raskolnikov because they impact his
personality the most. Sonia and Svidrigailov are the most influential foil characters in
Crime and Punishmentbecause they bring out the best and worst characteristics of
Raskolnikov. A shy and timid seventeen year old girl, Sonia is wary of
Raskolnikov when she first meets him. Her tenacious religious faith is a vital part
of her character; she is shy and timid, but also truly compassionate and altruistic
(especially towards Raskolnikov). In this sense, Raskolnikov is quite different
from Sonia; where he is uncaring and ignorant, she is warm hearted and
thoughtful. Sonia helps to bring back the humane aspects of Raskolnikov s
personality. There, not far from the entrance, stood Sonia, pale and horror stricken.
She looked wildly at him... There was a look of poignant agony, of despair in her
face...His lips worked in an ugly, meaningless smile. He stood still a minute,
grinned, and went back into the police office (Dostoevsky 447). At this moment in
time, Raskolnikov had gone into the police station to confess his crime, but in a
lack of better judgement, he returns back to Sonia without telling about his crime.
Had Raskolnikov not been motivated by the repugnant look on Sonia s face, it is
unlikely that he would have gone back into the police station. This is perhaps the
prime example of how Sonia brings out the best in Raskolnikov. Sonia s
sympathetic and doting personality is polar to Raskolnikov s selfish beliefs and his
extraordinary man theory . However, when all is said and done, Sonia guides
Raskolnikov to face the punishment of his wrong doing. Had Raskolnikov not had a
tenacious relationship with Sonia, it likely would have taken him a much

Detailed Design Process and Design Specifications There are many considerations that Kudler Fine Foods at La Jolla, Del Mar, and Encinitas must make in order to incorporate a Frequent Shopper Program at all of the locations. The areas of concern will be in decisions of software design, hardware and network(s), and human computer interfaces. The Frequent Shopper Program requires a simple process to make an easy transition to the program. Too intricate of process will cause a hardship to this new program. • 3. How Water Affects The Rate Of Change In Water Water normally freezes at 0В°C, however this temperature reading is widely dependent on the substances that are present in the water. When dissolving a substance in water, the freezing point will be lowered, meaning that the temperature has to be colder in order for the water to completely freeze. This is called, The Depression of Freezing Point . Many foreign substances, such as alcohol, sugar and salt, can interrupt the balance of melting and freezing water at 0 degrees Celsius. This has a direct link to the melting point of ice as melting point and freezing point both are 0В°C. When the temperature of water reaches a freezing point, the free flowing molecules get trapped into organized crystal structures creating ice. However, when salt is introduced it disrupts the process. When in contact with water, it splits up into two ions, being Sodium and Chloride (NaCl). These ions move around in between the structure which then leads to the ice melting due to the lowering to the freezing point which means more water molecules are leaving and less are entering the solid. When the temperature lowers even further, the water molecules leaving the solid phase will slow down even further and the rate will eventually match the rate at which water molecules can find the solid in the presence of salt. When water leaves a solid at the same rate as molecules enter, a lower freezig point is established. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The test that will be conducted uses 500ml of water and different levels of salt and sugar. Salt and sugar, the solutes, being the independent variables, will allow the experiment to test the melting rate of ice at different concentration levels. By adding salt and sugar in to separate ice trays after diluting it and freezing it, the freezing point should be lowered, meaning that the rate at which the ice will melt will decrease. This would also be the case if sugar was used along with

The Cause Of Macbeth s War HOUSE OF DUNKELD Macbeth, King of Scotland, was brutally murdered in a bloody civil war commanded by the late King Duncan I s son, Malcolm III, with the support from the Thane of Fife and the Scottish nobles. The battle took place in Dunsinane Hill when Malcolm III invaded the area and brought with him an army he raised in England. The civil war was supported by Scottish nobles, Earl of Northumbria, and Earl of Northumberland as the deceased King Macbeth was greatly condemned for his paranoia and tyranny. As Malcolm III and his army advanced towards the king s castle, the soldiers were instructed to cut down tree limbs from Birnam Wood in order to disguise their numbers. The army, shielded with boughs cut from Birnam Wood, successfully

There are many pluses when you work in a traditional job, just as there are negatives. With your traditional job, you are basically assured of receiving a paycheck every week. You go to work, work your set hours and get paid for it. That suggests a certain amount of stability. You know that paycheck will come so that you can pay your bills. That s the up side of working a traditional job. Also with your traditional job, you may be in a field you really enjoy. You could be a medical professional, working in a doctor s office, or perhaps even in social work. Those types of jobs can be rewarding in themselves, especially when you get to help people when you are working. That is another good thing about working a regular job. But, when you think of it, there are a lot of down sides too. Your 9 to 5 job may not offer you a lot of room for advancement, which also means that your pay scale may be limited. You may not earn enough in your traditional job

Scottish Independence Pros And Cons In this essay I will discuss both sides of the referendum of Scotland and firstly short about the current situation, and then finish it off with a conclusion. The issue of the Scottish independence has been highly discussed for a couple of years. The reason for that are after the Scottish national party won the election in 2011, their main goal has been to make Scotlandindependent. Now it is up to the Scots to choose whether they want to separate themselves from the United Kingdomor if they want to remain a part of it. This decision could change Scotland for eternity and entirely. There are many arguments on both sides for the referendum that was held in 2014, about the Scottish independence. Firstly one of many reasons to make Scotland a country is that, they would save a lot of money by banishing nuclear weapons from Scottish soil is commitment from the SNP. • 9. The World War I And The Red Scare In the early 20th Century, the United States endured a time of political unrest. During World War I, fears of socialism and communism entered the psyche of the United States and culminated in the Red Scare. Hundreds of American citizens particularly immigrants suffered unprecedented arrests and deportations (Fariello 4). During this time, Charles Schenck, secretary of the Socialist Party of America, actively opposed the war. Due to Schenck s efforts, the organization distributed thousands of leaflets criticizing conscription and encouraging readers to assert rights against the draft and intimidation (Schenck v. United States1). In the 1919 case Schenck v. United States, the defendants were charged with violating the Espionage Act of 1917 by causing and attempting to cause insubordination in U.S. military forces by distributing a document denouncing the draft in name of the 13th amendment (Schenck 1). When insurgency and fear continued, Congress amended the Espionage Act with the Sedition Act, which limited many more forms of speech (Fariello 14). At this point, society had to decide whether these limits on speech aligned with its interests. Holmes similarly had to consider whether to forfeit his belief that ideals in the Constitution and its Amendments exist absolutely (Cohen 27). In the end, he decided that a balance between absolute ideals and the responsibilities of Congress must prevail as the most fair compromise or standard. In this fairness, the Court affords

Argumentative Essay On Obesity Millions of people across the world are familiar with the concept of obesity, possibly from a personal connection or knowing someone that has been affected by it. I chose this subject because I have family members that have been directly affected by obesity, and I wanted to learn more about it and widen my perspective. Particular to the U.S., the country has had a reputation of being one of the most obese countries in the world along with Mexico and New Zealand. Obesity has the ability to affect people s dimensions of wellness including physical and mental. Factors that can lead to obesity take on various form; some are physical such as the food itself or common social mediums such as advertisements or the media. Given, America is a melting pot of race and culture, who is to blame for the accusation? Is it a certain group or type of people? Who is the authority of what country is considered obese? And for those that claim America is obese, are they wrong or right? I wanted to begin my exploration by getting a good understanding of what obesity is. I found an article on The Obesity Society website titled What is Obesity? and I figured I should start there. According to the article, obesity is defined as excess adipose [(fat)] tissue. A fat cell is an endocrine cell, and adipose tissue is an endocrine organ (Flegal and McDowell). Adipose tissue secretes metabolites, cytokines, lipids, etc and causes increased levels of fatty acids and inflammation (Flegal and

A sweatshop is a factory where employees are subject to extreme exploitation; they work in dreadful conditions with health and safety hazards, for little pay and long hours. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This excuse hinders outsiders knowing exactly what is happening inside the factory. People didn t want to tell us about the factories whereabouts either, as they were scared of getting physically assaulted by the security men surrounding the factory. At last we found a factory called June Textiles, which manufactured products for both Nike and Gap, but no one would tell us more than that. Checking treatment of workers here was going to be a huge task. The factory was well guarded and looked like any ordinary factory from the outside, but at that time we didn t know what harsh realities workers were facing inside the factory. We needed to talk to the workers on home turf, away from the security men surrounding the factory. Late at night we got a call from a couple of workers who said they were prepared to speak to us, if we met them after their shift, at their home. For them to talk openly about the conditions in the factory was a big step. This was the one of our first big surprises, 8 women were living together in a tiny little room which on a regularly basis had power cuts and was without running water. As we interviewed them they told us that Nike and Gap treat them as dirt, they work 16 hours a day, which is 112 hours a week. This contradicts with Nike and Gap s code of vendor conduct, which says ВґВґOn a regularly scheduled basis requires no more than 60 hours of work per

I had my birthday party at a place called Group Dynamixs, it is a big indoor area where you can play a ton of different games/sports and do indoor ropes courses. I had a lot of fun, but I was super tired after. The next days of summer went by pretty slow which was good. It seemed like each day was 48 hours. A month later, time started to go by a little bit faster. I felt like July decided to have 25 days instead of 31 days. I went to Austin, Texas from 7/1/17 to 7/6/17 which was fun. I go to a place in Austin called Lakeway every year with my family. The hotel is on Lake Travis. It was cool and interesting to see the fireworks over the lake. This trip felt like it went

The strategy that was initially made and utilized by Constantin Stanislavski from 1911 to 1916 was in view of the idea of enthusiastic memory for which a performer concentrates inside to depict a character s feelings in front of an audience. Later, somewhere around 1934 and 1938, this strategy developed to a strategy for physical activities in which feelings are delivered through the utilization of these actions. The recent procedure is alluded to as Stanislavski s framework. Essay about Industrial Revolution Led to Labor Unions As America became more industrial more people left their farms and small towns to work in the city so they could pay their expenses, whatever they may be. This led to the minimal pay of workers while the owners became wealthy leading to a functional economy. Most would receive little money while the rest lived a life of luxury. Since more factories were opening children, women, and immigrants could now find jobs, which led to more production which gave more money to the owners of the factories. Americans feared that industrialists were changing freemen into wage slaves. As I was going through the second exhibition a particular painting caught my attention. Still life with three puppies by Paul Gauguin was titled. My first encounter with this painting was through the title, which made me create negative hypothesis on what the painting was depicting. When looking at this painting all I could think about was my lack of fascination towards animals, especially puppies, while the person standing next to me was sighing and smiling about according to her how cute the puppies are . Unlike that person, I am not an admirer of puppies and as result I move quickly from the painting. However, as I made a second round on the exhibition, this time when I saw the painting I was beginning to notice things like shapes, symbols and colors and immediately forgot about my initial reaction. I begin to realize that there might be more to the painting than what I originally saw, but I have been blind from my initial judgments. In my second observation I was able to look pass this initial judgments drawn by the title. The title Still Life with Three Puppies confirm my assumptions about the painting and prevented me from continuing seeing what the painting is trying to depict. This name limited my thinking and didn t allow me to see the painting from what it is. After all four of the antibiotics were placed in each dish with tweezers, they were incubated overnight. The next day, we measured the zone of inhabitance around each antibiotic disc. I had two statements in my hypothesis. If S. epi is gram positive, then penicillin, streptomycin, and tetracycline will be effective on it because each one reacts with gram positive bacteria. If E. coli is gram negative, then streptomycin and tetracycline will be effective on it because each one reacts with gram positive bacteria. • 24. Feminism In The Merchant Of Venice In the society of Venice, the social system called patriarchy is quite ordinary. The feminist literary criticism attempts to analyze patriarchies, where men hold the majority of power, while women are denied access of it. In the sought after play called, The Merchant Of Venice, by William Shakespeare, women are treated unequally to men. Furthermore, women are not allowed to choose their own husbands as well as given a chance to solve legal disputes. As proven in the play, the patriarchal society of Venice over rules women. When men failed to use compassion in their society, women are able to solve problems by getting involved. A man named Bassanio from Belmont is in love with a woman named Portia who comes from Venice. In order to impress Portia, he is in dire need of money. Bassanio looks to his friend Antonio who is able to receive a loan from a man named Shylock in Venice. When Antonio fails to pay back the money, he must in return give a piece of his flesh away. Although Antonio made a deal with Shylock, the men fail to recognize how painful it would be if they were to sacrifice their own flesh. This discrepancy calls for capable women who can bring in a sense of compassion for Antonio. Although limited by their society, Portia and Nerissa decide they have the power to create a resolution. This leads the women to dressing up as men in order to have a say in the case. While trying to settling the dispute, Shylock continues to refuse anything short of the

The cause of virological failure in patients taking PIs are drug resistance mutations outside the active site of HIV 1 protease, but rather throughout the matrix and capsid proteins of the Gag polyprotein in HIV1. While the mutational pathway that leads to resistance to PIs in HIV 1 is not yet fully understood, mutations in Gag polyproteins have been shown to be associated with changes in PI susceptibility with or without mutations in HIV 1 protease. Mutations in Gag L449F mutation, for example, has been seen to rescue HIV 1 protease activity and increase overall efficiency of catalytic Gag polyprotein cleavage,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Analyzing the three dimensional distribution of coevolving Gag residues, Codoner et al found that the correlated residues in the matrix are clustered on the inner surface on the trimer. As these surfaces were previously associated with interactions between gp41, a subunit of HIV 1 envelope protein, and the matrix, Codoner et al. concluded that these mutated residues are representative of novel interprotein interactions that modifies matrix stability in order to affect viral fusogenicity. This is further supported by several coevolving p17 residues (residues 66, 69, and 98) were also previously shown to be contributed to matrix stabilization and the incorporation of viral envelope proteins into immature viral particles. Thus, Codoner et al hypothesized that coevolving residues in HIV 1 matrix may affect HIV 1 resistance to PIs by modifying particle maturation and viral fusogenicity (Codoner et al, 2017). Studying the molecular basis of Gag protease coevolution, Ozen et al. found that coevolved Gag protease complexes were also able to restore protease active site dynamics by increasing Gag protease interactions. Under selective pressures of PIs, Ozen et al. found that

But to have balance, one must know that there is good in the bad and the bad in the good. Everyone has or eventually will come face to face with something that will bring hardships into their lives. When faced with adversity, one must learn to live with it to overcome it. This may take time, or it may be instant. By allowing people to help you, keeping a positive attitude, and accepting who you are, people can overcome obstacles they are facing. With no doubt, people going through something need to know there is nothing wrong with asking people for help. In this parable, Mr. Hooper gives an invisible element in sin a physical appearance in the black veil which now makes his sin a connection between himself, God, and the townspeople. It is apparent that Mr. Hooper is dealing with some sort of internal conflict and his way of confronting his issue is by covering his face from everyone with the black veil. Lastly, there are several themes in The Minister s Black Veil relating to topics including sin, guilt, fear, and judgment. The first theme focuses on people s reaction to change. Soon after Mr. Hooper covers his face, people secluded themselves from him and gave him bewildered stares even after he showed them courtesy. Likewise, his wife Elizabeth left him after she failed to persuade him to abandon the black veil. The narrator also explains how Mr. Hooper created a group of converts as well as how people at their deathbed would not take their last breath until they received consolation from Mr. Hooper. Strangers began to travel from long distances just to hear his sermons and gaze at his figure. Another theme found in The Minister s Black Veil is that people fear what they do not know and do not understand. The mystery of the black veil perhaps was the biggest thing that intimidated the townspeople. Mr. Hooper is overcome with the same horror as the townspeople when he catches a glimpse of himself. In an attempt to solve the mystery of the black veil, the townspeople past judgment and create

How Democratic The European Union T he following paper will address the question of how democratic the European Union is by analysing each of its institutions and the decision procedures in the European context. It will take into account the special role of the European Union as a system of polycentric governance (Garner, 2009: 230), and the complex relationships between its institutions and the institutions of its member countries. Hereby taking into account that the EU can be characterized as a system of network governance in which the state is vertically and horizontally segmented and its role has changed from authoritative allocation from above to the role of an activator (Crum and Fussom, 2009: 257). The EU with its high degree of complexity remains unique in the world of governance and shouldn t be compared to nation states. Following a multilevel approach that recognises this uniqueness the question whether the scepticism towards the EU s institutions and the voices that see a democratic deficit inherent in the EU are right shall be answered. When analysing the system of the EU on grounds of its democratic legitimacy it is important to define democracy itself. Democracy is a value laden term that has various meanings and comes in different shapes (e.g. representative vs. direct democracy). As none of the member states in the EU practices direct democracy to a mentionable extent it would not be suitable to assess the EU on terms of direct democratic participation. A reasonable

The client is encouraged to talk about anything and everything seeing as it may help them accept any kind of limitations or discord they may have. Antwone struggles in creating conversation out of nothing and when it comes to talking about his issues, that process is no different. There are many concepts that can be used to help conceptualize the problems that Antwone Fisher experiences. To begin conceptualizing Antwone s feelings through an Adlerian lens, a counselor might try to spot inferiority feelings within the client. These feelings are always present and ultimately act as a motivating force behind an individual s outward behavior. One could argue that Antwone s inferiorities stem from the abuse he suffered at such a young age, which halted the average development most humans encounter. In order for an individual to overcome these inferiorities, they begin to act in compensative behaviors. Since Antwone s traumas began in infancy, he never had any kind of stable environment and the one in which he was finally placed (the Tate s) caused him to quickly feel inferior. Antwone may have ultimately developed an inferiority complex because he was never able to compensate his inferiority feelings as an infant. The inferiority complex that Antwone developed has prevented him from being able to cope with the demands of life enabling him to use violence as a way to forget. Antwone s problems can be further conceptualized when thinking about social interest and community feeling. Social interest is being concerned about others just as much as an individual is concerned about oneself. Community feeling is concerned with feeling connected to all of humanity. Antwone, throughout the movie, is seen drawing, writing, and

She, similar to Odysseus, must save her country from invaders, The Huns for Mulan and the suitors for Odysseus. Both protagonists face many trials that test their loyalty and honor. And both prevail, becoming great, respected leaders of their people. Honor as well as loyalty are significant characteristics of a respected person. The Odyssey, written by Homer in the eighth century BCE, is a common story with multiple retellings that focuses on the journey of Odysseusand his son Telemachus. Odysseus is a war hero of the Trojan War, and the tale focuses on the conflicts he faces while journeying home. On the other hand, this also led to networks being able to track how well a new show is doing before it even airs by looking at how many people were recording it. In the fall of 2000, Microsoft introduced UltimateTV. The Hughes H 4 Hercules, although not a success by most defections, still motivates public interest in aviation today. Foil Characters On Raskolnikov In Crime And Punishment Effect of Foil Characters on Raskolnikov in Crime and Punishment Foil characters serve the purpose of highlighting characteristics of the protagonist that otherwise would not be pointed out. In Fyodor Dostoevsky s Crime and Punishment, Raskolnikov has several foils that emphasize his personality traits. Razumikhin, Sonia, Dunya, and Svidrigailov can all be considered foil characters to Raskolnikov. Though each of the characters mentioned are affect Raskolnikov, Sonia and Svidrigailov are arguably the most influential on Raskolnikov because they impact his personality the most. Sonia and Svidrigailov are the most influential foil characters in Crime and Punishmentbecause they bring out the best and worst characteristics of Raskolnikov. A shy and timid seventeen year old girl, Sonia is wary of Raskolnikov when she first meets him. Her tenacious religious faith is a vital part of her character; she is shy and timid, but also truly compassionate and altruistic (especially towards Raskolnikov). In this sense, Raskolnikov is quite different from Sonia; where he is uncaring and ignorant, she is warm hearted and thoughtful. Sonia helps to bring back the humane aspects of Raskolnikov s personality. There, not far from the entrance, stood Sonia, pale and horror stricken. She looked wildly at him... There was a look of poignant agony, of despair in her face...His lips worked in an ugly, meaningless smile. He stood still a minute, grinned, and went back into the police office (Dostoevsky 447). At this moment in time, Raskolnikov had gone into the police station to confess his crime, but in a lack of better judgement, he returns back to Sonia without telling about his crime. Had Raskolnikov not been motivated by the repugnant look on Sonia s face, it is unlikely that he would have gone back into the police station. This is perhaps the prime example of how Sonia brings out the best in Raskolnikov. Sonia s sympathetic and doting personality is polar to Raskolnikov s selfish beliefs and his extraordinary man theory . However, when all is said and done, Sonia guides Raskolnikov to face the punishment of his wrong doing. Had Raskolnikov not had a tenacious relationship with Sonia, it likely would have taken him a much
