The Strength Of Rawls Social Contract Theory
The strength of Rawls Social Contract Theory is most obvious when compared with other ethical
theories. In my discussion with Professor Hill, it was made apparent to me that I should focus on the
main concepts we have discussed in this unit: empathy, rationality, and fallibility. One theory that is
easily comparable is Ethical Egoism. Ethical Egoism claims that every action committed by human
beings must be out of self interest. Anything done for another individual is considered unethical for an
egoist (Hill, Egoism, slide 2). The flaw with this ethical theory can be best explained using a modus
ponens valid argument type: If A, then B: If a theory lacks empathy, then it is not the correct ethical
theory. A: Ethical Egoism lacks empathy. Therefore, B: Therefore, Ethical Egoism is not the correct
ethical theory. With Ethical Egoism, the interests of others are not taken into account. Empathy is an
essential part of any ethical theory because the outcome of an event usually involves more than one
individual. If one lacks the ability to put themselves into the perspective of another individual, then
they should not be making any decision regarding that individual because it could harm them. While
Rawls Social Contract Theory is based on some degree of self interest, this self interest is converted
into a form that benefits everyone. Therefore, self sacrificing may take place in order to appease the
emotions of others so as to keep the balance and avoid chaos. In one of

Copper Iron Stoichiometry Lab Report Essay
Copper Iron Stoichiometry
Lab Report
10/3/12
Abstract:
The lab performed required the use of quantitative and analytical analysis along with limiting reagent
analysis. The reaction of Copper (II) Sulfate, CuSO4, mass of 7.0015g with 2.0095g Fe or iron
powder produced a solid precipitate of copper while the solution remained the blue color. Through this
the appropriate reaction had to be determined out of the two possibilities. Through the use of a
vacuum filtration system the mass of Cu was found to be 2.1726g which meant that through limiting
reagent analysis Fe was determined to be the limiting reagent and the chemical reaction was
determined to be as following:
CuSO4(aq) + Fe(s) Cu(s) + FeSO4(aq)

Benefits Of Good Oral Hygiene Essay
Introduction
The advantages of good oral hygiene can help prevent existing and prevalent dental problems,
primarily plaque and calculus, which are the major causes of caries (cavities) and tooth decay. Dental
caries are not only found in the adolescent population, but are also found in adults, due to gums
receding throughout the aging process. This exposes the roots of teeth to the different types of bacteria
that cause plaque and tooth decay. To be sure, seniors with poor health are no exception to dental
caries and are often the most affected due to low fluoride use and/or poor oral care during
adolescence. However, while dental caries and tooth decay are the most prominent topics of oral
health, there is also a close connection association between poor dental care and overall health. Poor
oral health can cause severe consequences in people with cardiovascular disease (CHD) due to the
bacteria and periodontal diseases found in gums that enter the bloodstream and thus, into the heart,
causing atherosclerosis. Another outcome of poor dental care is the increased risk of bacteria from
gingivitis, called spirochetes, entering the brain through the bloodstream. This can eventually lead to
the progression of Alzheimer s disease or dementia. Periodontal disease and gum inflammation the
inflammation of gums can also interfere with blood sugar levels and can cause symptoms to rise in
diabetic patients. In addition, the increased risk of respiratory infections like pneumonia, which

Materialism In Vietnam
I finally arrived at the mansion for the annual family reunion. Many of my relatives and I were staying
at my uncle s mansion in Happy Valley Happy Valley is the Beverly Hills of Oregon. There were over
thirty five of my relatives in Oregon at the time and most of the relatives from California were staying
at the mansion. I never fully understood how materialistic my family was until I went to this house for
the hundredth time during freshman year.
Why can t you cook like my sister?! my uncle exclaimed at his wife as he was eating the soup that my
aunt cooked. I was a freshman in highschool when I heard my uncle say this. No one seemed to be
phased by what my uncle said, besides me. I was infuriated, bothered, and confused because no one
said anything to my disrespectful uncle. My vast family heard him, but it was as if this comment was a
normal thing to hear. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I rudely spat back, Why do you guys claim to be modern and hip when your logic is still in Vietnam?
Why do you all enforce gender roles? Why do you all care more about the material side of each other
and not the inside? You all try so hard to impress each other, but we are all family and that s pathetic.
My family did not reply to this and stared at me with disbelief. A few of my younger aunts and uncles
looked proud of me. However, the older relatives looked disappointed in me. My dad told me to go
downstairs and think about what I have said.
As I headed downstairs I could hear hon lao being said, which means disrespectful. I knew that I was
being a brat. I talked back to the people feeding me. However, I was honestly quite satisfied with what
I said, even if it was petty and disrespectful. What I said was not the way how to deal with how I was

Different Social Professional And Cultural Contexts Essay
Different social, professional and cultural contexts may affect relationships and the way people
communicate and interact with each other, it is important to be aware of the issues which restrict
communication and how to overcome them.
When communicating with others, you need to consider the context in which you are working. You
will adapt and change the way you communicate in different situations, it is likely you will do this
automatically without realising. For example, the way we conduct ourselves in a meeting, we would
choose to use more formal language and behaviour, we would demonstrate this by; remaining calm,
respectfully listening, and showing an interest through asking questions and offering possible
solutions to issues.

Sovereignty In Canada
Despite recent International opportunism, Canada lays claim to the region through historic documents
and acts of sovereignty. Canada s claim to the area began in 1670. When King Charles II of England
granted Rupert s land in a charter to the Hudson s Bay Company at the height of the fur trading era.
This charter covered a large area around Hudson s Bay, including the northern expanse above the bay
(Rose 4). In 1880, Britain granted the new dominion of Canada the Arctic Archipelago (Rose 5).
Including 94 arctic islands and all Islands adjacent to any such territories discovered or not
(Bonikowski). To secure Canadian sovereignty, Canada sent explorers Joseph Elzéar Bernier and
Vilhjalmur Stefansson to leave plaques and flags on several islands. The symbolic significance of flag
raising is questioned, as sovereignty entails taking responsibility for a region through tangible ways. ...

The Spanish And English Colonies
Though North America was first explored by Europeans when Nordic people settled in modern day
Canada circa the 11th century, widespread colonization of the North American continent did not truly
occur until the arrival of Spanish explorers four centuries later. English explorers quickly followed the
Spanish to the New World and, though each group of colonists faced similar issues, the two colonies
handled life in North and Central America quite differently. The Spanish and English colonies were
generally the same in regard to their treatment of Native Americans while significantly different when
examining the role of the European government on their colonies leadership in addition to their
diverse economic foundations. The Spanish and English colonies were extremely similar, nearly
identical even, in that each gave little respect to the religious origins and customary living of the
Native Americans. The Spanish colonists were the first to arrive in the New World in the late 1400s,
and, upon arrival, launched cultural attacks on the Native Americans. Spanish friars began stripping
indigenous people of their native religion and forcing European practices onto the masses. The
Reconquista of Spain from the Moors fabricated a very close relationship between the Roman
Catholic church and Spanish authorities. Because the church now held so much power in Spain,
Catholic leaders were able to send friars along on the government funded expeditions to the New
World. The church

Root Cause Analysis In Healthcare Organization
A root cause analysis (RCA), an organized protocol or procedure, institutes a means of analyzing a
sentinel or adverse event that occurs within a healthcare facility, ultimately uncovering causes of
problems or errors. U.S. hospitals are required to keep confidential records within the facility of
adverse reactions, yet RCAs are mandated to accompany a reported sentinel event to the accreditation
organization, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and other
organizations (AHRQ 2014). Various members from all aspects of the hospital form a
multidisciplinary team to analyze, evaluate, and resolve errors with the goal of prevention of future
adverse, sentinel events. A RCA allows for concentration on events and underlying problems that
contributed to the incident rather than focusing on individual actions and behaviors (AHRQ 2012).

Male Utopian And Dystopias
As Bammer explains, while male utopian writers are mainly interested in broadening their influence
and power and exploring other worlds, women s utopias aim to change their current situation by
reconstructing the power relations that affect their lives. She states that these fantasies are much more
achievable in theory and much more urgent than men s. However, women had no reason to turn to
such a male dominated genre while they had genres more suitable for delving into the private sphere
and its more realistic utopian possibilities (Bammer, 2004).
Bammer points out that although men s utopian fantasies take different approaches compared to
women s, women are far from absent in men s utopia. In fact, women seem to have a central role in

Dystopian fiction is engaged with the argument between the desire of the individual and the societal
demand, emphasizing the sexuality and relations among the genders as parts of this conflict (Brooker
1994, 337). Brooker states that the governments of dystopian societies in books such as We, Brave
New World or Nineteen Eighty Four all use sexuality as the primary tool to control society. Brooker
also points out that despite this consistent focus on sexuality in dystopian fiction, the major works of
the genre have done relatively little to challenge conventional notions of gender roles . Although there
is considerable emphasis on sexuality in dystopian fiction, Brooker argues that conventional notions
of gender roles remain unchallenged in major works of the genre. He observes that even though these
literary dystopias and utopias stress the importance of gender equality, they remain places where men
are men and women are women, and in relatively conventional ways . Brooker brings up More s
Utopia as an example of this trend. In Utopia, women and men are proclaimed completely equal, even
though it is a patriarchal society where men are still the head of the household and women belong to
their fathers or husbands. However, according to Brooker, More consciously tried to provide women

different instrumentation and tonic keys. The treatment of these varied polarities can clearly illustrate
Mahler s efforts to create a holistic vision. In choosing five movements from two suites, Mahler paired
the selected movements, first third and second fourth, thus increasing the polarity within the
arrangement. On the other hand, he lessened the polarity in the paired movements by fusing the
Rondeau and Badinerie into one movement, an A B A structure that would formally balance the
concluding two Gavottes. The elements of key relations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Badinerie moves to the b minor region. The following movements, Air and Gavotte, excerpted
from the Third Suite in D Major, are more tonally stable than the preceding ones because of their
binary form and their major mode, they move most frequently to the D Major region. The beginning in
the different key from that of the ending and the diverse explorations of the key regions provide
various levels of polarities and are finally integrated in the last movement, along with their forms, The
exploration of carious key regions and the defined levels of polarities of these regions in part A and
ritornelli of the Overture are mitigated in the Rondeau Badinerie, and the degree of polarities the least
occurs in the Air and Gavotte. It can be explained with the contexts of their formal structures, the
frequent changes of key regions occurred even in the episode of the Overture, which is supposed to be
tonally stable in the tradition of ritornello form but became stable in the refrains of the Rondeau. There
are also specified some rhythmic, motivic, and intervallic analyses in these music.
First is rhythmic similarities between the Rondeau and Badinerie, and the Gavotte. Similarities in
local metric and rhythmic patterns, and in pitch relationships are crucial for Mahler s combining of the
Suite movements. Whereas similar elements are found in the material from Bach s original works, the
additional organic coherence is highly explored by

Vivian Bearing In The Play Wit
In the play Wit, highly esteemed professor of seventeenth century poetry, Vivian Bearing, finds out
that she has stage four terminal cancer. The Doctor who tells her the diagnosis, does so in a very
clinical and non emotional way; he appears to describe her cancer and treatment comparable to how
her college literature professor described her punctuation in her poem. He explained everything in
medical terminology, which was not understandable by those outside of the medical field. A research
study showed that even college educated patients struggled with understanding the meaning of certain
words used by medical staff and based on these results it is recommended that Doctors should adjust
their language to match the patient s cognition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vivian Bearing did not show a lot of kindness or compassion to her own students as she did not think
that it was important. Now as her death is approaching she comes to realize that is what she has been
missing. Her nurse Susie patiently explains the treatment plan to Vivian in terms that she can
understand; including the DNR (do not resuscitate) and that it was her decision, Susie allowed Vivian
some control over her life by giving her this choice while she fought for her dignity. As her nurse
strives to provide her with compassion and empathy this is important to Vivian in her final days as
compassion is connected to our human spirit; as she was approaching death (Frost, 1999, p127).
Patients often experience quicker healing rates when they receive compassion as opposed to those
who do not (Dossey, 2007). Susie told Vivian when she was semi conscious that they were putting a
catheter in; even though Doctor Jason said :why are you bothering? Some people, such as nurse Susie,
will go out of their way to make others comfortable and put the patients need before there own, we
just have to be mindful of emotional burnout if our own needs are not being met (Brehony, 1999, p

The Tension between Truth and Illusion in Tender is the...
Exploring the tension between truth and illusion is a frequent preoccupation of twentieth century
American literature. Compare and contrast the treatment of this theme in `Tender is the Night and at
least one other relevant text you have encountered.
`Tender is the Night is a novel where the presentation of the main characters at the beginning of the
novel is shown to be an illusion. An illusion which often masks the seedy truth and results in people
having to present an extravagant front to disguise their inner problems.
In the opening chapter Fitzgerald narrates that Rosemary was `nearly complete, but the dew was still
wet on her . Further references to `baby teeth and children indicate that the author wishes the narrator

In Faulkner s `As I Lay Dying , Dewey Dell is used for sexual gratification by MacGowan who
masquerades as a doctor, pretending he can help her; whilst the front of a medical practitioner is
successful carried off, this is only an illusion, the truth is that he is nothing more than a shop assistant.
Nicole herself is a source of contradiction: she was `hard and lovely and pitiful . The somewhat
oxymoronic description of Nicole suggests a woman with external beauty, but internal psychological
unrest, as her and her husband represented `externally the furthermost evolution of class . When she
dresses up for one of her parties she wears an `artificial camellia , highlighting the falsity of the whole
situation, to the extent that even the garden is a `grassless garden . As the location shifts to
Switzerland the illusion begins to disappear. It is apt that a country which appears beautiful, but has a
reputation for underhand financial dealings, is home to a clinic for the wealthy to resolve their
psychological problems. The truth is that Nicole s father sexually abused her and now wishes to cover
it up with an illusion, that it was a valet that abused her; he reassures Dick that `money is no object
and his chief concern is if the `story would ever leak back to America . In an American society where
God and family values are promoted, there seems to be an abundance of immorality, which survives
under the curtain that money creates.

The Meaning Of Freedom
The Meaning of Freedom Freedom has very different meanings to each individual which makes it
hard to find a clear precise definition. The meaning of freedom to me is the right to do things as I
choose. It is the right to act or speak and make my own choices without restraint. Many people say
they would do whatever it takes to achieve to goal of true freedom, but how far will they really go for
their rights? Can people have freedom and still be responsible citizens? The definition of freedom
might be to some racial equality, equal rights, and gender equality. Just for this one idea, people have
gone as far as risking their lives and the lives of everyone around them. Freedom is the choice to live
one s life and to do what one wants, live ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Freedom does mean to right to do as one pleases, to think, believe, speak, worship, move about,
gather. I believe everyone should act as you choose, but only until your choices start to infringe on
another person s freedom. You can be a responsible citizen and still enjoy your freedom. Enjoying our
freedom does not mean that we can disregard the rights of others and live the way we feel right. We
also have to consider the rights and the feelings of the other people around us when living our
freedom. We believe in the freedom of people to make their own mistakes. We do not interfere with
them and they should not interfere with others (Roosevelt, 1905). I observe the rules and traditions of
the society. Sometimes I m not free to act as I want, because I know that it can bring harm to people
whom I love and respect. We really need to live in the society that is restricted. Can you imagine one
where all the people do what they want to? I think that it would turn into chaos. That s why I stick to
the opinion that people should obey the rules of the society they live in and respect the rights of other
people. Freedom is not an absolute right, and it too has some constraints. A popular saying goes: Your
freedom ends where mine begins. A freedom that poses a threat to the society and the nation we dwell
in is not freedom in real sense. One cannot just violate laws, kill people, smuggle drugs or doing
anything detrimental to the society and call it

Usefulness Of The Future Managers
Usefulness to the Future Managers
Over the recent past, many workers have developed a liking for startups over established corporate
jobs. The workers do not want to get fixed by rigid laws and hierarchical structure. The trend has both
risks and benefits. One of the risks is that the startup organizations do not give proper attention to the
human resources. Moreover, the startups may violate one or more aspects of the employment law. The
book is useful in training prospective future managers and employers since the workplace
discrimination scenario is a rapidly changing issue that requires a more intellectual approach. The
risks of violating the discrimination rules are devastating to both the employer and organization.
Knowledge is power, and the prospective managers will gain the knowledge surrounding employment
discrimination and harassment and are thus informed of the possible penalties for violating such laws.
The book also gives the potential managers the ability to interpret the laws governing a certain topic in
the contemporary business life. Additionally, the book enlightens the potential managers about the
existing legal bodies that address issues such as workplace discrimination. The students can get more
information not covered in the classroom or the book from these bodies. One such body is the United
States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The agency has a website that contains

The Energy Generator Ofgem Announced
Energy, especially electricity, is vital in today s economy however demand for electricity is currently
so high that the available supply may not be sufficient over the next 25 years. Electricity lights our
homes, powers our technology and is a fundamental factor in everybody s day to day lives.
In 2012, the energy generator Ofgem announced that Great Britain risks running out of energy.
(Business, 2012). In the United Kingdom, equipment which is used to generate electricity has suffered
from years of under investment. This has resulted in an inefficient system that distributes energy
across the country. Most of the UK s electricity is produced by burning fossil fuels. In 2010, Energy
UK reported that the UK currently use 47% natural gas and 28% coal to supply the countries power.
(Energy uk.org, 2010).
In 2007, the United Kingdom Government agreed to an overall European Union target of generating
20% of the European Union s energy supply from renewable sources by 2020. The total of all
renewable electricity sources provided for 14.9% of the electricity generated in the United Kingdom in
2013, reaching 53.7 TWh of electricity generated. (Daley, 2015).
Renewable energy is energy generated from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and
geothermal heat. Renewable energy technologies range from solar power, wind power,
hydroelectricity/micro hydro, biomass and biofuels for transportation. Solar power is recently

Narrative Essay About Playing Basketball
When I was younger, I became involved with a variety of sports and activities. I began my
involvement with sports by playing soccer at the age of four. After a year of playing soccer, I
transitioned to more feminine sports like dance and gymnastics. While I enjoyed dancing and
gymnastics, I was heavily influenced by my brother and his passions. I always wanted to do what he
did. I even played on his football team because tackling people seemed fun. He began to play
basketball and being the admirer that I was, I had to follow in his footsteps and start playing basketball
too. Little did I know, the very first moment I touched a basketball would have been one of the biggest
impacts on my life forever.
I was six years old and in the fourth grade when I decided I wanted to play basketball. One day my
brother was outside practicing with my dad, and my curiosity drew me outside to join them. He was
working on layups and his jump shot, and I was following along with him. After we were done, I was
so excited and I just knew I wanted to play basketball. My dad was shocked that I wanted to play
because it meant giving up dance and gymnastics, but I had a feeling it would be worth it. I kept
practicing with my brother whenever he went in the backyard to shoot and dribble. My dad started to
realize that I was serious about wanting to play basketball. I began watching basketball with my dad
and brother and studied the player s moves. My dad showed me some YouTube videos of basketball

In Jamaica Kincaid s novel, Lucy, the title character has similar personality traits to the pop singer and
former child star, Miley Cyrus; both are young women who stray from the average conventional

embrace their sexuality and do not always agree with the traditional gender roles. Cyrus expresses her
views through controversial stunts on television and on social media. Although Lucy s life is not
nearly as public as Miley Cyrus , anyone in Lucy s circle can easily see how she rejects the guidelines
society expects her to follow.

Power, Authority, And Authority
Power and authority have become central towards the decision making process in the social
environment. As a student, power and authority are fascinating factors based on the leadership
position held by the institution. Developing an understanding of power and authority from a personal
perspective is towards understanding how the two concepts differ, relate or overlap in the decision
making process. There are diverse reasons as to why power and authority are central in organising
constructively within the social environment. From the multiple components in the definition process
to the effects that the two concepts have on the social dynamics, the comprehension of the two
concepts should ensure an understanding of their interplay. Majority ... Show more content on

Nonetheless, the term is explicit and emanates from the Latin word auctoritas, which has several
meanings; reputation, assurance, affirmation, veracity, and significance (Njegovan, Vukadinovic
Nesic, 2011). As regards to the notion of ambiguity, the emphasis on authority is mainly on the
concept that it denotes specific individuals with legitimacy in exerting influence on others. Thus, Day
(1963) recognises that there are two main forms of authority. Epistemic entails authority that is expert
based. On the other hand, deontic authority mainly originates from obligations and control. The
comprehension of the two types of authority plays a pivotal role in shaping the decision making
process. Day (1963) believes that the two types of authority are closely related in the definition or use
in the day to day environment. As a clear example, deontic authority ought to at some level be based
on either knowledge or competence. Additionally, the epistemic or expert based authority as per
distinctive pundits emanates from the concepts of parental, moral, political or religious authority. In
the learning or social environment, the main reasons for subjection to authority emanate from different
factors. Some authors such as Maner Mead (2010) emphasize that common sense can be a directive
towards individuals conforming to the commands of those in authority. As a clear example, common
sense translates into children viewing their

Ford Years (8/1974 1977) ...
President Gerald R. Ford was not exactly an expert in the area of economic issues. Unfortunately, his
advisors did not seem to be much better. Urging people to wear WIN buttons (win inflation now) was
not exactly a serious attempt to improve the economy. Stagflation (the result of a nasty mixture of
inflation, unemployment, and slow economic growth) was the economic environment during much of
Ford s term.
Upon taking office, Ford faced a worsening economy. A steep recession coupled with an inflation rate

When Ford left office in 1977, as mentioned above, the inflation was slightly less than 6% and
unemployment was approximately 7%. The economy was growing at approximately 5% and would
continue to do so through most of 1978. However, the 1973 75 recession was followed up by an
OPEC repeat in 1979. The economic residue left over from the 1973 75 recession, plus the 1979
OPEC repeat, reduced investments and caused the majority of Carter s years to be tarnished by high
inflation, high interest rates, oil shortages, and modest economic growth.
With inflation in 1978 rising to approximately 7%, Carter responded with several actions. One of
Carter s first moves involved the phasing out of federal regulations regarding the airline industry. This
was designed to increase competition and gradually lower prices for consumers. Carter also
deregulated the beer industry. As a result, by early 1979, unemployment had declined to less than 6%
and real median household income had grown by approximately 5%. With investments and industrial
production growing, these factors made people feel that the worse was over.
However, the oil crisis of 1979 changed that picture. Higher inflation and higher interest rates resulted.
Jobs started disappearing. Economic growth first slowed then declined. Gasoline shortages developed.
By the end of 1979, inflation

The Four Major Components Of The Communication-Persuasive...
The communication persuasion paradigm has four major facets, which include the sender, message,
target, and effect. The sender is a critical component of the communication persuasion paradigm in the
sense that a persuasive communication process depends, in part, on the characteristics of the sender
(Jowett, O donnell, 2014). People place expectations on others based on a range of factors, which can
be social, political, economic, professional, and moral. As such, there are people who can be described
as famous or trendsetters on the mentioned grounds. The persuasiveness of a piece of information is
determined by the level of fame or respect that the sender of such a message enjoys among a group of
people (Dubois, Rucker, Galinsky, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, a message about delivering the selves from the oppression of a regime presented without
many facts are highly persuasive when the target is the oppressed population. Generally, the levels of
reasoning of the target and his or her abilities in understanding the information and any possible
consequences are important in achieving the outcome. The target is important because he or she is the
one generating feedback, which is crucial in understanding whether the message reached the right
person as intended. Additionally, it is significant because it is useful in assessing the effects of the
communicated information. Lastly, the persuasiveness of a communication process depends on the
effects it has caused (Jowett, O donnell, 2014). The effect is evaluated in light of the changes that are
observed since the communication was made and the feedback that has been provided by the receiver.
For example, the percentages of voter turnout in a certain area when their political kingpin advises
them not to participate in voting.
The effectiveness of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in persuading people, particularly the African
Americans was a factor of him as a trendsetter source, the appealing nature of the contents of his
messages, and the carefully selected intended targets (Arceneaux, Johnson, Cryderman,

An Economy Or Economic System
An economy or economic system consists of the production, distribution or trade, and consumption of
limited goods and services by different agents in a given geographical location. The economic agents
can be individuals, businesses, organizations, or governments. Transactions occur when two parties
agree to the value or price of the transacted good or service, commonly expressed in a certain
currency.
In the past, economic activity was theorized to be bounded by natural resources, labor, and capital.
This view ignores the value of technology, and innovation, especially that which produces intellectual
property.
A given economy is the result of a set of processes that involves its culture, values, education,
technological evolution, history, social organization, political structure and legal systems, as well as its
geography, natural resource endowment, and ecology, as main factors. These factors give context,
content, and set the conditions and parameters in which an economy functions. The largest national
economies by continent are: the United States in the Americas, Germany in Europe, Nigeria in Africa,
China in Asia and Australia in Oceania.
A market based economy is where goods and services are produced without obstruction or
interference, and exchanged according to demand and supply between participants by barter or a
medium of exchange with a credit or debit value accepted within the network, such as a unit of
currency and at some free market or market clearing

Evangelical Christianity Definition
During the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the Tswana, Maale, and Nigériens counterbalanced
evangelical Christian mission colonization by incorporating local customs and practices into
Christianity. We will define and dissect the terms civilization and modernity to describe how medicine
and religion reinforced and changed African and white Christian cultures. I define civilization as a
white, Christian ideology that formulated how missions historically oppressed black Africans;
evangelical missions rationalized white supremacy by claiming that inept and inferior black Africans
needed cleanliness and morality training. However, I define the term modernity as a culturally hybrid
African response to mission evangelism; after hearing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the nineteenth century, legislation passed that empowered doctors with advanced education to
cleanse disadvantaged patients with biomedicine. Comaroff argues that biomedicine became...a
discipline, taking on the ethos of professionalism after the Medical Act of 1858, which limited medical
practice to well educated doctors (1997: 328, 326). After the Medical Act of 1858, only wealthy
doctors who learned advanced anatomical and physiological operations in prestigious universities
could practice medicine. With legal leverage, these doctors developed biomedicine as a science in
which medical tools, chemical liquids, and plant substances cured ailments and cleaned urban decay.
As British doctors gained socioeconomic status, media outlets claimed that doctors engaged in heroic
biomedical cures to save the urban poor from their foul behaviors and miasmic living environments
(Comaroff 1997: 326). Because city slum dwellers often had many children, lived in close quarters,
and could not afford to bathe, doctors sought to improve their health by teaching them proper hygiene.
Indeed, Comaroff notes that the London Mission Society (LMS) advertised the power of doctors to
heal social ills in unsanitary British cities to associate cleanliness with prestige and dirt with
deficiency (1997: 332). When LMS missionary David Livingstone arrived in

There are three aspects to consider in my comprehensive assessment of Susan. First, the things that

her church, and her friends. The third aspect is the transaction between the two which I would have to

have in Susan s case is that she is living alone in a small trailer with seven cats. Susan is an older lady
and cannot be alone all the time, soon she will need of someone to be with her all the time. Also, her

  • 2. The Strength Of Rawls Social Contract Theory The strength of Rawls Social Contract Theory is most obvious when compared with other ethical theories. In my discussion with Professor Hill, it was made apparent to me that I should focus on the main concepts we have discussed in this unit: empathy, rationality, and fallibility. One theory that is easily comparable is Ethical Egoism. Ethical Egoism claims that every action committed by human beings must be out of self interest. Anything done for another individual is considered unethical for an egoist (Hill, Egoism, slide 2). The flaw with this ethical theory can be best explained using a modus ponens valid argument type: If A, then B: If a theory lacks empathy, then it is not the correct ethical theory. A: Ethical Egoism lacks empathy. Therefore, B: Therefore, Ethical Egoism is not the correct ethical theory. With Ethical Egoism, the interests of others are not taken into account. Empathy is an essential part of any ethical theory because the outcome of an event usually involves more than one individual. If one lacks the ability to put themselves into the perspective of another individual, then they should not be making any decision regarding that individual because it could harm them. While Rawls Social Contract Theory is based on some degree of self interest, this self interest is converted into a form that benefits everyone. Therefore, self sacrificing may take place in order to appease the emotions of others so as to keep the balance and avoid chaos. In one of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Copper Iron Stoichiometry Lab Report Essay Copper Iron Stoichiometry Lab Report 10/3/12 Abstract: The lab performed required the use of quantitative and analytical analysis along with limiting reagent analysis. The reaction of Copper (II) Sulfate, CuSO4, mass of 7.0015g with 2.0095g Fe or iron powder produced a solid precipitate of copper while the solution remained the blue color. Through this the appropriate reaction had to be determined out of the two possibilities. Through the use of a vacuum filtration system the mass of Cu was found to be 2.1726g which meant that through limiting reagent analysis Fe was determined to be the limiting reagent and the chemical reaction was determined to be as following: CuSO4(aq) + Fe(s) Cu(s) + FeSO4(aq) Introduction: There were ... • 6. Benefits Of Good Oral Hygiene Essay Introduction The advantages of good oral hygiene can help prevent existing and prevalent dental problems, primarily plaque and calculus, which are the major causes of caries (cavities) and tooth decay. Dental caries are not only found in the adolescent population, but are also found in adults, due to gums receding throughout the aging process. This exposes the roots of teeth to the different types of bacteria that cause plaque and tooth decay. To be sure, seniors with poor health are no exception to dental caries and are often the most affected due to low fluoride use and/or poor oral care during adolescence. However, while dental caries and tooth decay are the most prominent topics of oral health, there is also a close connection association between poor dental care and overall health. Poor oral health can cause severe consequences in people with cardiovascular disease (CHD) due to the bacteria and periodontal diseases found in gums that enter the bloodstream and thus, into the heart, causing atherosclerosis. Another outcome of poor dental care is the increased risk of bacteria from gingivitis, called spirochetes, entering the brain through the bloodstream. This can eventually lead to the progression of Alzheimer s disease or dementia. Periodontal disease and gum inflammation the inflammation of gums can also interfere with blood sugar levels and can cause symptoms to rise in diabetic patients. I never fully understood how materialistic my family was until I went to this house for the hundredth time during freshman year. My family did not reply to this and stared at me with disbelief. A few of my younger aunts and uncles looked proud of me. However, the older relatives looked disappointed in me. My dad told me to go downstairs and think about what I have said. As I headed downstairs I could hear hon lao being said, which means disrespectful. I knew that I was being a brat. • 15. The Spanish And English Colonies Though North America was first explored by Europeans when Nordic people settled in modern day Canada circa the 11th century, widespread colonization of the North American continent did not truly occur until the arrival of Spanish explorers four centuries later. English explorers quickly followed the Spanish to the New World and, though each group of colonists faced similar issues, the two colonies handled life in North and Central America quite differently. The Spanish and English colonies were generally the same in regard to their treatment of Native Americans while significantly different when examining the role of the European government on their colonies leadership in addition to their diverse economic foundations. The Spanish and English colonies were extremely similar, nearly identical even, in that each gave little respect to the religious origins and customary living of the Native Americans. The Spanish colonists were the first to arrive in the New World in the late 1400s, and, upon arrival, launched cultural attacks on the Native Americans. Spanish friars began stripping indigenous people of their native religion and forcing European practices onto the masses. The Reconquista of Spain from the Moors fabricated a very close relationship between the Roman Catholic church and Spanish authorities. Brooker states that the governments of dystopian societies in books such as We, Brave New World or Nineteen Eighty Four all use sexuality as the primary tool to control society. Brooker also points out that despite this consistent focus on sexuality in dystopian fiction, the major works of the genre have done relatively little to challenge conventional notions of gender roles . Although there is considerable emphasis on sexuality in dystopian fiction, Brooker argues that conventional notions of gender roles remain unchallenged in major works of the genre. He observes that even though these literary dystopias and utopias stress the importance of gender equality, they remain places where men are men and women are women, and in relatively conventional ways . In fusing different suites into one, Mahler had to contend compositionally with two different pieces consisting of various dance movements with different instrumentation and tonic keys. The treatment of these varied polarities can clearly illustrate Mahler s efforts to create a holistic vision. In choosing five movements from two suites, Mahler paired the selected movements, first third and second fourth, thus increasing the polarity within the arrangement. On the other hand, he lessened the polarity in the paired movements by fusing the Rondeau and Badinerie into one movement, an A B A structure that would formally balance the concluding two Gavottes. As a result, by early 1979, unemployment had declined to less than 6% and real median household income had grown by approximately 5%. With investments and industrial production growing, these factors made people feel that the worse was over. However, the oil crisis of 1979 changed that picture. Higher inflation and higher interest rates resulted. Jobs started disappearing. Economic growth first slowed then declined. Gasoline shortages developed. By the end of 1979, inflation ... • 32. The Four Major Components Of The Communication-Persuasive... The communication persuasion paradigm has four major facets, which include the sender, message, target, and effect. The sender is a critical component of the communication persuasion paradigm in the sense that a persuasive communication process depends, in part, on the characteristics of the sender (Jowett, O donnell, 2014). People place expectations on others based on a range of factors, which can be social, political, economic, professional, and moral. As such, there are people who can be described as famous or trendsetters on the mentioned grounds. The persuasiveness of a piece of information is determined by the level of fame or respect that the sender of such a message enjoys among a group of people (Dubois, Rucker, Galinsky, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, a message about delivering the selves from the oppression of a regime presented without many facts are highly persuasive when the target is the oppressed population. Generally, the levels of reasoning of the target and his or her abilities in understanding the information and any possible consequences are important in achieving the outcome. The target is important because he or she is the one generating feedback, which is crucial in understanding whether the message reached the right person as intended. Additionally, it is significant because it is useful in assessing the effects of the communicated information. Lastly, the persuasiveness of a communication process depends on the effects it has caused (Jowett, O donnell, 2014). The effect is evaluated in light of the changes that are observed since the communication was made and the feedback that has been provided by the receiver. For example, the percentages of voter turnout in a certain area when their political kingpin advises them not to participate in voting. The effectiveness of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in persuading people, particularly the African Americans was a factor of him as a trendsetter source, the appealing nature of the contents of his messages, and the carefully selected intended targets (Arceneaux, Johnson, Cryderman, ... • 33. An Economy Or Economic System An economy or economic system consists of the production, distribution or trade, and consumption of limited goods and services by different agents in a given geographical location. The economic agents can be individuals, businesses, organizations, or governments. Transactions occur when two parties agree to the value or price of the transacted good or service, commonly expressed in a certain currency. In the past, economic activity was theorized to be bounded by natural resources, labor, and capital. This view ignores the value of technology, and innovation, especially that which produces intellectual property. A given economy is the result of a set of processes that involves its culture, values, education, technological evolution, history, social organization, political structure and legal systems, as well as its geography, natural resource endowment, and ecology, as main factors. These factors give context, content, and set the conditions and parameters in which an economy functions. The largest national economies by continent are: the United States in the Americas, Germany in Europe, Nigeria in Africa, China in Asia and Australia in Oceania. A market based economy is where goods and services are produced without obstruction or interference, and exchanged according to demand and supply between participants by barter or a medium of exchange with a credit or debit value accepted within the network, such as a unit of currency and at some free market or market clearing ... • 34. Evangelical Christianity Definition During the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the Tswana, Maale, and Nigériens counterbalanced evangelical Christian mission colonization by incorporating local customs and practices into Christianity. We will define and dissect the terms civilization and modernity to describe how medicine and religion reinforced and changed African and white Christian cultures. I define civilization as a white, Christian ideology that formulated how missions historically oppressed black Africans; evangelical missions rationalized white supremacy by claiming that inept and inferior black Africans needed cleanliness and morality training. However, I define the term modernity as a culturally hybrid African response to mission evangelism; after hearing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the nineteenth century, legislation passed that empowered doctors with advanced education to cleanse disadvantaged patients with biomedicine. Comaroff argues that biomedicine became...a discipline, taking on the ethos of professionalism after the Medical Act of 1858, which limited medical practice to well educated doctors (1997: 328, 326). After the Medical Act of 1858, only wealthy doctors who learned advanced anatomical and physiological operations in prestigious universities could practice medicine. With legal leverage, these doctors developed biomedicine as a science in which medical tools, chemical liquids, and plant substances cured ailments and cleaned urban decay. As British doctors gained socioeconomic status, media outlets claimed that doctors engaged in heroic biomedical cures to save the urban poor from their foul behaviors and miasmic living environments (Comaroff 1997: 326). Because city slum dwellers often had many children, lived in close quarters, and could not afford to bathe, doctors sought to improve their health by teaching them proper hygiene. Indeed, Comaroff notes that the London Mission Society (LMS) advertised the power of doctors to heal social ills in unsanitary British cities to associate cleanliness with prestige and dirt with deficiency (1997: 332). When LMS missionary David Livingstone arrived in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Three Aspects Of Comprehensive Assessment There are three aspects to consider in my comprehensive assessment of Susan. First, the things that happen to Susan such as the relationship with her children, her husband dying a year ago, and the love for her cats. Secondly, the things that happen within Susan s environment such as the accident she had, her church, and her friends. The third aspect is the transaction between the two which I would have to figure out ways where the client can have both, a healthy and a happy life. The primary concerns I have in Susan s case is that she is living alone in a small trailer with seven cats. Susan is an older lady and cannot be alone all the time, soon she will need of someone to be with her all the time. Also, her children do not live close by her, and that she does not have a good relationship with her daughter. If Susan is removed from her cats, church, and friends, she will have no reason to want to continue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My primary option is to keep her with her cats, church, and friends. I would also get her to go to a doctor; I would not like the fact that she is extremely frail and thin. In my assessment I would check on her physical health, Susan is extremely frail and thin. I would find Susan is under medical care or when she had her last medical exam. I will check what type of insurance she has and what does it cover. I would check if she has any prescribed medication, if so how often she takes them and how often she supposed to take them. For the drinking issues the daughter told me, I would only take it to consideration, since there were no medical records of alcohol, I would not be worry. I would not consider any mental issues since she was able to tell me what happen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
