This document describes a system for tracking mobile phones even when they are switched off. The system uses a real-time clock (RTC) powered by a backup battery to activate the phone's GPS and GSM modules periodically when the phone is off. The GPS determines the phone's location, which is sent via GSM as a text message to a backup phone number provided by the user. This allows the user to track a lost or stolen phone that has been turned off, improving on existing tracking apps that require the phone to be on. The system could help users locate their phones without relying on authorities once the phone is off.
