Ielts Writing Essay Sample
Crafting an essay on the topic "IELTS Writing Essay Sample" can be a challenging endeavor.
The complexity lies not only in the requirement to address the specific guidelines provided by the
IELTS exam but also in the need to showcase a strong command of the English language,
including grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure.
To begin with, one must thoroughly understand the nuances of the IELTS writing task. This
includes deciphering the type of essay (whether it's an opinion essay, discussion essay, problem-
solution essay, or the like) and adhering to the prescribed format. The challenge intensifies when
attempting to balance content richness with conciseness, as IELTS essays typically have word
count restrictions.
Moreover, expressing ideas coherently and cohesively while maintaining clarity is vital. A well-
organized essay that logically progresses from introduction to conclusion is crucial for scoring
well. This entails crafting effective topic sentences, providing supporting evidence, and ensuring
a smooth transition between paragraphs.
The demand for lexical variety and accuracy adds another layer of difficulty. Utilizing a diverse
vocabulary without sounding forced and avoiding repetitive language can be quite challenging.
Additionally, employing complex sentence structures and demonstrating a range of grammatical
structures are necessary to exhibit a high level of proficiency.
Time management is yet another hurdle. With a limited timeframe for the IELTS writing section,
one must strategize how to allocate time for planning, writing, and revising. The pressure to
produce a well-constructed essay within these constraints can be overwhelming.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the topic "IELTS Writing Essay Sample" demands a
multifaceted skill set that includes understanding the IELTS exam requirements, organizing
thoughts effectively, showcasing advanced language proficiency, and managing time efficiently.
It's a task that necessitates a combination of linguistic prowess and strategic planning.

What Are The Literary Devices Used In Katy Perry s Wide

Zina Mekhaiel English 100 February 15th, 2014 Wide Awake by Katy Perry Many
artists use in their songs literary devices to give a certain mood or setting. In Katy
Perry s song Wide Awake, she verbalizes and portrays these devices to express her
song in a personal and emotional way knowing that many people face these
situations everyday in life. Katy Perry describes her Wide Awake song as a dose
of reality and she admits that the song deals with much more negative emotions
than many of her previous single releases. The song was written specifically as part
of the soundtrack for Katy s concert movie: Part Of ME. In the song Wide Awake,

The first food policy goal is to prevent human health problems such as obesity, heart

achieve this goal is to make our children healthier eating habits. Providing and

Billie Armstrong Biography
Music is my life. I live, eat, sleep and breathe music. It s what keeps me alive, it s
the blood pumping through my veins, it s the one thing I can relate to when times
are too tough to handle. There is one particular rock group that changed my life
completely, and I am fully prepared to explain why. They are called Green Day, the
single most inspirationally powerful band that I have ever looked up to. I admire
them for several reasons, the main one being that no matter how much each of them
have been through, they still followed their dreams of becoming musicsuperstars.
Billie Joe Armstrong, the lead vocalist and lyricist of the band knew what he wanted
to do for the rest of his life at a young age. He grew up in the small town of Rodeo, ...

To Aristotle, the good regimes are the ones that are set up according to the principle

Essay on The American Revolution and the Formation of
Bolivia
пѓ Introduction
The American Revolution did much more than any of our founding fathers had ever
imagined, it started a movement that would threaten the very roots of colonialism
across the globe. Setting an example of how a David could overcome a Goliath, the
United States inspired regions such as Latin America to fight for their rights and
liberties as well. One such region that embraced the message was Upper Peru, which
would later be known as Bolivia. With some key tipping points that caused the war,
the leaders of the soon to be formed nation rallied its troops and won several major
battles, but even they couldn t prevent the tough times that lay in the early years of
the nation. From the year 1809, Upper Peru was engaged in a ... Show more content

Simon Bolivar, who had a reputation of being a liberator, took center stage. The
common folk began to trust his words, as he talked about fighting for the resources
that were theirs, ideals taken directly from the American Revolution itself. Also with
the power struggle created by the Napoleonic wars, uprisings began. The most
prominent of this movement was the uprising in Chuquisaca in 1809, which led to
the formation of the Government Juntas. This group focused on taking the power
from the Spanish and giving it to the people. Seeing the movement in Bolivia take
shape, Latin Nations such as Peru began to provide military support to Bolivian
liberators. Surprisingly, America didn t live up to its reputation, having no negative
impact on this revolution. Normally, America had been notorious for backing up the
dictators or colonial powers and suppressing the Latin liberators. All in all, the
combination of a power struggle brought upon by foreign wars, introduction of
revolutionary independence ideals, proper leadership, and foreign aid, the Bolivian
revolution was successful in liberating the nation from Spanish Colonial power after
16 years of conflict.

Paradox Of Fiction
Fictional works of art are something that is very popular in our culture and draw a
large audience, but why is that when the audience knows that what they are watching
is solely a made up story? The Paradox of Fiction highlights the problem of
experiencing emotions about fictional stories. I think what causes the most
questioning is that the audience knows it is purely fictional and in no way real, but
we still feel particularly strong emotions nonetheless. The emotions experienced are
in fact genuine to the viewer, although they are not genuine in a sense of being how
one might respond if they were actually placed in the situation of the characters. I
believe that most people use fictional stories to escape their daily lives and focus on
something that they can relate to that doesn t actually affect their life.
Several questions arise when discussing the Paradox of Fiction: Does fiction matter
since it is not reality? , How does it come to play on our emotions? , Are those
emotions real since we would ultimately react differently had it been reality? . The
Paradox of Fiction is hard to understand because we cannot know for sure why we
feel the need to get so emotionally involved in a fantasy world. The emotions that
surface when we watch a scary movie are seemingly as real as if we were actually
in the same situation in our real life. But what causes us to feel this way is something
that is still trying to be understood by many. There is no logical, scientific

Dispossessed And Patterns Recognition Essay
Thesis:
Women s role in science fiction and how it reflects our society
Women s role changing
Throughout Wool, The dispossessed and Pattern recognition, we are exposed to
many female characters in these novels. Although science fiction has long been
defined as a genre dominated by men, it is so surprising to see that women character
has played dominate roles in these novels. The impact of women on these novels can
be clearly observed, but each book depicts women character so differently that made
me curious about knowing further about women s status and roles play in society and
how they change over time.
To start with The Dispossessed, which published 1974, tells the story of the two
worlds, Anarres and Urras, which are very different from each other. The passage
marks a series of gendered differences between the two societies: the people live and
work in Annares treat women as their equal companions and a partner that can be

her own clothing as a way to preserve her identity. In contrast to the women
presented in the podcast fetish in Japan in BBC that women were portrayed to meet
social expectation: they tend to dress up cute and do services that met men s
expectation, this novel seems to portray a woman who rather possesses a sense of
individuality and her characters are not fixed by the rigid rules or social
expectation to her. She does not define herself as propriety to society or men. She
makes her living by her unique abilities. From my perspective, it is a sign that
women s role in society today is heading to a status that they gradually possess the
conscious of identity rather than a dependent. Gibson intentionally portrays Cayce in
such way to illustrate to us where women s role will be headed in the near
Tension in Witch s Money Essay
Tension in Witch s Money
In John Collier s Witch s Money, the stranger who suddenly appears in a remote
mountain village in Spain is initially seen by Foiral as an unwelcome madman.
Certainly his surrealist description of the landscape must seem a symptom of insanity
to one unfamiliar with the trends of modern art. Once he offers a nice sum of money
to buy Foiral s house, however, the stranger is treated with a new attitude. He is still
not completely accepted by the community that he has moved into, but he does wield
a new type of power simply because only he can produce cash from paper billets. With
his magic cheques, though, the stranger creates a tension that grows into an
economic struggle between himself and his community. ... Show more content on

This knowledge of cheques that the stranger has over Foiral and the community
increases the tension between them. When Foiral finally receives his money from the
cheque, he is under the impression that all cheques give thirty thousand francs.
Knowing that the stranger has a whole book of cheques, Foiral and his friends
immediately feel jealous of the outsider: he has something that they want. A stranger
a madman who has more than any member of the community, has invaded their town.
Because he has so much and they so little, the villagers feel that it is their right to
take the stranger s magic cheques . . . even if, in the process, they must take his life
as well. Ironically, tragically, their righteous ambition leads to their own destruction.
With the stranger dead, the people of the community help themselves to his
cheques. Money begins to exchange hands as goods are bought and deals are
made. The progress of economic development comes to the village. No one is
afraid to dig up the money that they have saved because as soon as the cheques are
cashed there will be no worries, and the town can continue to prosper. But as every
man meditates on their two of these excellent billets, they begin to feel that they
were too rich to speak to each other (71, 72). Conflict grows between one time
friends as they argue over what is to be bought and sold. Greed has come to town
with the artist and his witch s money.

The slow 12 bar introduction starts with an unusual opening of what seems like the
wrong tonality as dominant chords resolve upwards in the first 4 bars. The harmonic

relative minor A. This sustains a dominant tension throughout this section.

Paris Attack Research Paper
The Paris Attacks and Its Effect On November 13, 2015, the French capital of
Paris was brutally bombarded with one terrorist attack after another. These attacks
are a few of the most tragic events to grip France since WWII. The attacks may not
have lasted long, but they will leave an everlasting mark on the minds of the people

points of interest are the people behind the attack, the locations that were targeted,

People Behind the Attack
After the attack, many were wondering who was behind it. Many signs pointed to
ISIS, a terrorist group dedicated to spreading its power, radical religious ideologies,
and influence. Shortly after the attacks, ISIS released a video stating that they were
indeed behind the attacks. A member of ISIS stated in the video that eight brothers,

Description of an Off-Campus Event
Stepping outside of one s own comfort zone is not an always an easy
accomplishment. It can be very uncomfortable to do something that would never
usually be a part of your normal everyday life, especially when it involves your
religion and beliefs. On the flipside of all the lack of comfort, doing something you
usually would not do has many great benefits, such as learning new ideas and facts,
meeting new people, and overall broadening your knowledge of the world. As a non
denominational Christian, I decided to challenge myself by attending a religious
event that I would never typically attend. On Sunday, March 30th, I attended a Mass
service at a Roman Catholic Church; specifically St. Gabriel Parish in Norwood,
Pennsylvania with a Catholic friend of mine that I was visiting for the weekend.
This was the first time I ever attended an actual Sunday morning service that was
Catholic, and I found it to be quite the interesting experience, even though it was
not as unusual for me as I had originally presumed it would be. I grew up in
Norwood right near St. Gabriel, and passed it every day to go to my good friend s
home that was a football field length away from the churches front doors, but I have
never attended a Mass there, or at any other Catholic churchfor that matter. I have
always had a negative mentality when it comes to St. Gabriel because growing up
the priest at the church would often scold me and my friends for playing stickball in

Introduction: This essay will explore the cell cycle, cancer, cancer, mitosis and
meioses, genetic variation, Mendelian genetics, and complex genetic inheritance.
Each area will be broken down in further detail, and the result should demonstrate the
knowledge learned on the subjects.
The Cell Cycle
The cell cycle is a series of stages that occurs when a new cells makes the division
from the parent cell to two daughter cells. This is a stage in cellular reproduction.
The cell cycle consists of three phases, interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis. During
Interphase, a cell will continue to perform its functions as usual. The time frame
for Interphase varies; while an embryonic cell will take just a few hours to
complete the cycle, a stem cell from an adult can take 24 hours (Mader,
Windelspecht, 2015). After the interphase stage completes itself, a complete nuclear
division happens and mitosis occurs. During the stage of mitosis, the daughter cells
will receive the same amounts of the contents of the parent cell. Throughout the last
stage, in the cytoplasm there is a division known as Cytokinesis (Mader,
Windelspecht, 2015). Cytokinesis occurs differently in plant cells than it does in
animal cells, as the cell wall around the plant prevents the process from happening
the same way. Instead, a new plasma membrane and cell walls are built are built
between the daughter cells. However, in animal cells a single cell will become two

Porgy And Bess Sparknotes
Porgy and Bess is a play written by three Caucasian men. The play was written in
the 1920s 1930s. Around this time racism was strong as ever. White people already
didn t think much of us. It took place in a small town in South Carolina called Catfish
Row. The apartments sat close to a beach. Throughout the play, there was plenty of
ways that portrayed African Americanin a negative way. Porgy and Bess is the
epitome of how Caucasians thought of African Americans and the way we live.
Throughout my paper I m going to express how white people judged African
Americans, Where did Porgy and Bess come from, and The names of the characters
and how degrading the authors are making African Americans out to be. The names
of the characters go a long way. Some of their names have meaning to them, the
meaning of their names are literally the role they play. And the time the play was
written.
Gershwin labeled the play as a folk opera. It was written in the year of 1935 by a
Jewish man. Which makes it interesting to study the kind of impact it had on the
African Americans at that time. Gershwin had the African
Historical Propaganda Research
Throughout the course of humanity s existence, it is seen that change through action
is simply ignited by the power of thought. The ability to think or have a particular
opinion, belief, or idea is the very essence of human nature. Thoughts or human
opinions are instigated from the everyday interaction of beings one s experiences, or
the environment surrounding such. As noted by John Stuart Mill, The only way in
which a humanbeing can make some approach to knowing the whole of a subject is
by hearing what can be said about it by persons of every variety of opinion and
studying all modes in which it can be looked at every characters of mind. No wise
man ever acquired his wisdom in any mode but this . However, humans are

Such revolved around actions toward peace keeping habits, equality in the nation,
and general promotion of progressive stances. To begin with, within the realm of
visual based propaganda tactics, public enthusiasm in the past has been
significantly increased. For example, during 1918 Soviet Russia, artist Dimitri
Moor manipulated the antipathetic countenance of the Bolshevik Era (1917 1921)
and the New Economic Policy (1921 1927). Largely empowered by Moor s work,
disposition of the public was influenced to be largely positive as a result of the stark
contrast depicted between the oppressive evil and the heroic allies. Pressure as a
result was put on Russian workers to rise up against imperialism (Stukoe, 2010) .
Furthermore, in the battle against Nazism political agenda, those in opposition such
as Philip Zec depicted Nazis as snakes and vultures in order to influence the public in
perceiving the sinister side of the German
Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde
Dr. Jekyll and Mary Reilly Robert Louis Stevenson established himself as one of
the masters of adventure novels in English literature. His skills as a suspenseful
storyteller can be seen in his 1886 novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.
Hyde. Stevenson tells the story of the Dr. Jekyll and his murderous alter ego Mr.
Hyde, through the eyes of Dr. Jekyll s lawyer Mr. Utterson. Valerie Martin s Mary
Reilly tells the story of Jekyll and Hyde, but through a very different set of eyes.
Martin s version tells the same story, only through the point of view of Dr. Jekyll s
housemaid, Mary Reilly. Mary Reilly does not appear in the original Stevenson
novel, but her addition in Martin s version is pivotal to the exploration into further
details into the life of Dr. Jekyll. While, Martin s version stays true to the original
storyline of uncovering the dark instinctual part of Jekyll, it adds an emotional
aspect to the story that is excluded from the original version. Stevenson s version
tells the story of Jekyll and Hyde through nightmarish imagery. Leaving the reader in
suspense and questioning what the relationship between Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
truly is. Stevenson s primary character, Mr. Utterson is a representation of an
English gentleman. He is of upper class means and holds loyalty and reputation in
high regard. Utterson also refuses to gossip or express himself candidly. This
conservative attribute of Utterson is expressed through his dialogue with Enfieled

the human visual perception. Based on the research about visual control for

1.Introduction
There are a lot of sports have aiming tasks from a very far distance. And all the
players are trying to get as much score as they to hit the target. Basketball as the
one of the most popular sports become the representative of these sports. People
always can see that a basketball player throw the ball from a very far way to put
the ball into the basket. There are lots of research is about the tactical and the
physics in basketball. However, there have only a few researchers focus primarily on
visual control and information processing while player shooting a basketball.
For people who often watch the basketball game will always wonder how the
basketball player can shoot the basketball in a very high hit rate. Apart from the lots
of practice, is there something else that
The Dynamics of Military Revolution
Outline Introduction Set up Warfare is constantly changing, for the tools of war are
always evolving, as do the societies that wage war. Between 1400 and 1918, western
warfare went through four periods that saw such profound change that it can fairly be
said that a military revolution occurred. According to historians MacGregor Knox
and Williamson Murray, military revolutions fundamentally change the framework of
war and recast society and the state as well as military organizations. While all of the
military revolutions studied in H100 were important in the evolution of warfare, one
clearly stimulated greater change than the others. Thesis The First World War
stimulated the greatest changes in warfare because it brought about new technology,

List of things to bring to the UK M. Deen We are in the first week of September.
This means, the summer vacation for Bruneian studying in the UK is almost over.
This is the period where students are busy with their preparation to go back to the

would filled with excitement. But to some students, travelling to the UK for the

The Theory Of Sex Roles
Feminism has been and continues to be a controversial topic in today s society. It
has contributed to the study of sociology very important topics of gender and
sexuality. While many theories attempt to answer questions, it is impossible to
answer all. The world is so diverse that where you cover one area another is left
untouched. At the very least we can say we have come a long way from that of our
grandparents and parents. For this essay I will focus on the theory of sex roles.
Sex role theory is an individual approach to gender (Ryle, 30). Within this theory we
also have social roles which are a set of expectations attached to a particular status or
position (Ryle, 30). Sex roles are a set of expectations attached to a particular sex ...

When our boys come home from war what kind of girls will they be coming home
to and how disgusting example of the sexual confusion... sigh. Women s baseball. In
conjunction with this, there is a scene where they are shown the uniform they will be
wearing. A very pretty lady in a dress is then paraded in front of the team.
There are a couple of things I would like to point out. First and foremost it is a woman
making this statement. Most women during those times did not receive education.
They were domesticated women who stayed at home and performed all of the
activities of a house wife, unless you belonged to a specific position in society. If
you did received an education as a woman you were only offered certain jobs and
baseball for women was definitely not one of them. During this time this sport was
initiated because of the war as a way to make money. The women trying out for the
sport felt like they were great but their coach kept reminding them they were girls and
could not throw, because they did not have the same strength that of men. The ladies
were not taken as a serious team but more that of entertainment for the public. While
the men saw it as entertainment other women saw it as sexual confusion. It s also
interesting to see how women would think that careers and education could actually
affect their homes and children. I will call

Don Aliquo, Micheal Parkinson, Jamey Simmions, Joe Davidian, Patrick Arwater,

70 80 people, and part were older and the other half was students. When I think about
a jazzperformance a drum and piano player did not come to mind. I expected for
the show to be like all the stuff you see on TV about jazz bands with one person
singing and the instruments in the background playing. All the band members were
all dressed up in either suits or dress shirt and tie they all were instrument players.

dynamics during each of the songs were mezzo forte or higher. When each person
did their solo they crescendo leading to the end of them. I really enjoyed that the
lead of the band explained the background information of every piece that was
played I tried to take that into consideration while listening. If he didn t put his
explanation in before each song I wouldn t be able to understand the main concept.
The song that stood out to me the most was Dance Cadaverous, which is a mood
piece. Dance Cadaverous song connected with me more than the others simply
because I could really interpreted the piece. The rest of the songs were challenging
to grab the concept of the title to the actual performance. This piece to me portrays
a mix of swing dance to it. Dance Cadaverous is the definition of the jazz I have
heard before on TV and what I
The Learning Environment
1. The learning environment is dynamic and will be different for each training
situation. Among the individual variables that can impact the learning environment
include personality traits (especially extraversion) and communication styles.
Personality traits and differences among individual participants will be most evident
in the first few hours, or perhaps sessions, of the training because the participants
have not yet had time to relax into their new environment. Learningstyles will also be
different among the participants, which will showcase personality trait differences
even more. A trainer can easily work with a variety of people and different learning
and personality styles by developing a dynamic and diverse training system. The
learning environment should be one that promotes inclusivity, to allow different types
of people to have the opportunity to engage in the training. Communication styles can
create problems, which trainers do need to understand when designing the learning
environment. Ensuring that people can interact with the trainer and provide feedback
will minimize problems that arise when people do not express their concerns openly.
Listening carefully to all participants, even when they have a complaint, is essential.
Environmental factors that impact the learning environment range from temperature
to aesthetics. Participants need to be comfortable during training, or else their
concentration will wane. Therefore, temperature needs to be maintained

Mother Holle
Mother Holle is a German fairy tale written by brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm
in 1812 whom were German scholars who collected folktales, chiefly from peasant
women who told the stories to children, though the stories also circulated among
adults (Grimm, 1812, p.1031). When you think of a fairy tale what comes to mind? A
children s story about magical and imaginary beings and lands including supernatural
elements and archetypical human beings. Or maybe a folk tale, folk story, traditional
story, myth, legend, fantasy, or even a fable. In any one of these tales there is
usually something to learn or gain from the story. Some would call them life lessons
for children.

cancer patients and all that money is goes to one of their loved ones or a complete

this generous thing to help one person . But some are actually going through a
similar thing because cancer patients loose hair from chemotherapy and people shave
hair for cancer.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is a treatment to fight against cancer but some people who go through
chemotherapy start to loose . People with cancer who start chemotherapy* start to
loose hair within a month . People who have chemotherapy start to lose hair in chunks
after radiation therapy and thats when chemo* patients come to their senses and they

Family Gene
Some people who are bald may get the baldness from another family member which
may include Grandparents and Parents who may be bald. So which means you

member you should be proud that you carry a gene of your family members and you

In this situation there are two things happening, Ritchie Gravy is empowering and

formal authority. Given this, what power issues are in play in this case and how
might playing with the power structures affect CafГ© Hip? How do you suggest
CafГ© Hip neutralize Ritchie s power without effecting performance?
Empowerment addresses the power inequality inherent in subordination. Food and
Beverage manager Michelle Cook is above Executive chef Ritchie Gravy in formal
authority but she is subordinate because Ritchie is in a relational position of power
over her. Empowerment, therefore, concerns releasing the shackles placed on floor
staffs by kitchen staffs who have power in CafГ© Hip. In this case, as management

The Grapes of Wrath Essays
The Grapes of Wrath The Grapes of Wrath is set in the horrible stage of our
American history, the Depression. Economic, social, and historical surroundings
separate the common man of America into basically the rich and poor. A basic
theme is that man turns against one another in a selfish pride to only protect
themselves. For example, the landowners create a system in which migrants are
treated like animals and pushed along from one roadside camp to the next. They
are denied decent wages and forced to turn against their fellow scramblers to
simply survive. The Grapes of Wrath tells the story of two types of families in that

Tom, though, is a very complicated individual who turns out to be a tremendous

and the main follower of Jim Casy s philosophy on human nature. Jim is much
more of a talker and idealist, and he actually puts what he preached into action. Jim
Casy is frequently compared with Jesus Christ and his lifestyle of preaching and
leading people. As well as sacrificing himself for Tom and the Joad family which
upholds his common held belief. Tom carries Jim s message after his death and
aids others with it. The Joad family, along with Jim Casy, shows the benefit of
people uniting in order to accomplish goals and this is a lesson that the reader can

Role Of The Australian Government For Unauthorised...

According to Australian Human rights commission (2014), recently, asylum seekers
who arrive without visas and by boat are detained and usually transferred to

with appropriate documentation are granted bridging visas and released into the

African Culture in the Play, Death and the King s Horseman
Death and the King s Horseman is an interesting play because it brings forward the
culture of the Africans, specifically the Yoruba tribe, to the attention of the reader
that most probably come from a different background. There are many ways to read
this play for example, it may appears uneventful to some reader who only reads the
play literally as an entertainment but if the reader looks at this play as some cultural
study then the theme of understanding will surely be obvious and the reading will be
a tougher task as there are many things that must be taken into consideration such as
the clash of cultures (Soyinka 3) and threnodic essence (Soyinka 3), which is the
main theme of the play. Cultural tension between the Western cultureand the Yoruba s
culture can be felt throughout the play because the writer always draws the attention
of the reader to understand another s culture (Yoruba s culture) from a perspective of
a different culture (Western culture) in the play. The struggle between the Westerners
and the Africans to understand each other can be seen from the beginning to the end
of the play. Regardless of Soyinka s claim in the Author s Note against the reader
who would read the Death and the King s Horseman as clash of cultures , which
consequently makes them ignorant to the threnodic essence that discusses about the
idea of death in the Yoruba s culture which is the main theme that Soyinka wants to
bring forward to the reader, the reader must not ignore
An Analysis Of Kate Greene s The Night
It was 4:00 p.m. I was outside in front of my house talking to my best friend , Kate
Greene. Before she left, Kate yelled Izz I m still sorry about Euro(the dog I had
before Lulu) and left. At this point I didn t know what to do, but, it wasn t her
fault, she didn t know that anything I heard related to Euro made me feel as though
I should cry. Also the fact that she called me izz and not izzy (short for my full
name Elizabeth Adams), the way she usually does, caught me a bit off guard. This
caused me to feel that a long walk with my new dog Lulu would help me to relax.
Later in the evening I left my house with Lulu attached to the leash that belonged
once to Euro, now without his bright green collar that went missing along with
him. It was getting dark. A small amount of time passed before, the only light I had

A Farewell Of Arms, By Frederic Henry
In the novel, A Farewell to Arms, it mentions several different things about the
lives of Frederic Henry and Catherine Barkley. First, it starts off mentioning
Frederic Henry. Frederic Henry is an young American who just so happened to be
in Italy during World War I. Soon Frederic s friend Rinaldi introduces him to a
woman by the name of Catherine Barkley. Catherine Barkley was a British nurse
who is trying to get over the death of her fiance. Additionally, Frederic Henry and
Catherine Barkley were in Italy doing two different occupations. Frederic volunteered
as an ambulance driver for the Italian army while Catherine was a nurse and was

(Hemingway, 30) Later in the novel Frederic does realize he does love Catherine in
Chapter 14. He shows this by saying When I saw her I was in love with her.
Everything turned over inside of me. (Hemingway, 91)
In chapter nine of A Farewell to ArmsFrederic gets wounded. He gets wounded
because him and another driver Gordini go and fetch some food for some of the
soldiers. When they go to leave a bunch of bombs go off and which ends up killing
Gordini and injuring Frederic s leg. Fredric s behavior follow the injury was that of
detachment. This is shown when the priest visits him in the hospital and Frederic
confides in him that he hates the war and believes it is a hopeless effort.
In the novel, A Farewell to Arms, the Italian retreat from Caporetto was depicted
strongly in book three. In the morning it is revealed that one of the several attacking
forces includes Germany which terrifies the Italian army. Then Frederic, Bonello,
Piani, and Aymo drive around town with an endless column of people and vehicles
behind them. Additionally, in this chapter they have to kill a soldier due to the fear
of being overtaken. These three chapters describe the hardships of war from the
perspective of Frederic.
In the novel, A Farewell to Arms, the love affair between Frederic and Catherine ends
quite poorly. In previous chapters, it was learned that Catherine was
No Child Left Behind Analysis
This paper will be concerned with the federal legislation known as No Child Left
Behind (NCLB). The proclaimed intention of this law is to improve both the quality
and equality of education in the United States. NCLB attempts to do this by focusing
on the use of standardized academic tests. Many educators have criticized NCLB for
its philosophical assumptions and for having an impact that is the opposite of what is
supposedly intended.
Historical Background
The ideas behind NCLB stem from changes in the federal government s role in
education, which have been occurring since the 1950s. In 1954, the Supreme Court
decision in Brown v. Board of Education outlawed the practice of racial segregation
in America s schools (A guide, 2004, p.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Susan Ohanian, in her introduction to an article by Cook (2004), points out that
compliance with NCLB necessitates the expenditure of a great deal of time, energy,
and money. In an article published by FairTest, an organization that is opposed to
NCLB, it is claimed that the legislation fails to address the real problems that
schools face and it is overly focused on being punitive against schools that fail to rise
above INOI status (FairTest, 2004, n. p.). Karen (2005) notes that NCLB has thus far
been characterized by inadequate funding, a poor understanding of the nature of
educational and social inequality, and an even worse implementation plan (p.
Write An Essay On Hashimoto s Disease

What Are The Ethics Of Computer Ethics
Computer Ethics
Computer ethics is the systematic study of the ethical and social impact of computers
in the information society. The ethical and social issues under discussion involve the
acquisition, distribution, storage, processing and dissemination of digital data in
information systems and how individuals and groups interact with these systems and
data. The moral considerations of computer ethics are related to the responsibility and
accountability of the computer users and professionals with regard to the design and
implementation of information systems. Computer ethics also includes the study of
the policies, rules, and legislations that refer to a particular situation and the
alternative ethical decisions, as well as the social implications of these alternatives.
Computers are a special technology and they raise some special ethical issues.
Computer ethics are the moral guidelines that govern the use of computers and
information system. These computer ethics are divided into two parts namely the
analysis of nature and social impact of computer technology and the corresponding
formulation and justification of policies for the ethical use of such technology.

Meaning people default to behaviors and expectations of computers in ways
consistent with human to human contact and relationships. No one is expecting
computers to be truly intelligent, but our behaviors betray a human expectation that
things should treat us humanely and act with human values as soon as they show
the slightest sophistication. And this isn t true merely of computers, but of all
media and almost all technology. We swear at our cars, we re annoyed at the
behavior of our microwave ovens, we re enraged enough to protest at corporate
behavior, etc. While on a highly intellectual level we know these things aren t people,
we still treat them as
The Weight Of One Of The World s Most Dominant

Jesus as a Figure in History: a Wealth of Information for Those Already Informed
Jesus Christ is one of the most recognizable figures in the modern world. And the
legacies of few people have sparked as many wars, built as many nations, and
changed as many individual s lives, as Jesus of Nazareth. Understandably, scholars
and spiritualists alike have striven to answer one central question, who was this Jesus
? To some, He is known as the Son of God, who overcame death and sin, offering
salvation through His resurrection for all who place their faith in him. To others, He
was merely a carpenter from the small town of Nazareth, living in the early years of
the Common Era. And trying to figure out much else about Jesus is one of the most ...

In antiquity, historical thought was not what we would recognize as history today.
Those who lived alongside Jesus, or wrote about Him in contemporary times were
not concerned so much with what was but with what ought to have been. They wrote
biographies with some sort of pre conceived posture of who Jesus was, and molded
the story to present that character. This was not seen as dishonest in ancient times; in
fact, it was considered the truest of histories.
But in the age of the Enlightenment, scholars began concerning themselves with the
historical validity of the subjects they studied. This began the first wave of historical
Jesus scholarship. At this time, various scholars became intent on discovering the
historical Jesus, and began writing various works, presented as the life of Jesus. But
these writings suffered from an integral flaw, which has infected historical Jesus
scholarship until today. Rather than being works of discovery, they were truly
projects. Powell argues well, in his first chapter on the history of the historical Jesus
movement, that a life of Jesus would typically impose some grand scheme or
hypothesis upon the material that allowed everything to be interpreted in accord with
a consistent paradigm... [and] exclude material in the Gospels that did not fit with
this paradigm... (Powell, 12) Powell takes a
Prejudice And Racism In Schools
Racism isn t hating someone because of their race. Prejudice is not a
misconception of who a person is. Racism is being prejudiced because a person
believes their race is superior; and, prejudice is a preconceived opinion not based
on any prior experience. In other words, racism is when a person has a
preconceived opinion about another person because they feel their race is
superior. Racism and prejudice are probably two of the most talked about and
controversial words 60 years ago and still today. When Rosa Parks refused to give
up her seat and Martin L. King marched on Selma they didn t think we would still
be in such a place today; we are in a place where people are not allowed to be
themselves without facing judgment. This is the same prejudice and racism
members of society face in schools, by students and educators which limits their
ability to progress in a world full of competition and rise above what demographics
say they are destined to become. As the great Charles Albert Tindley once said, We
Shall Overcome!
Most school districts in urban America use a zoning system to determine what
school a certain area in that city goes. In many cities, there are what people call,
good schools and bad schools. To explain, Essentially, your school could be what the
people in your city call the bad school. For Norfolk Public Schools, Booker T.
Washington High School(BTW) happens to be the bad school. For a while this school
was unaccredited and therefore the students
Developing A Stronger Home And School Partnership
Effective teachers recognize the need to engage families and communities of diverse
backgrounds and cultures. According to the 2012 MetLife Survey of the American
Teacher, it identified family engagement as one of the most challenging aspect of
their work. Schools and teachers want to develop a stronger home and school
partnership with shared responsibility of the results, but are not always sure of how
to make that happen. Likewise, families and communities have a great desire to
partner with schools but often encounter the structural challenges of navigating the
school system as well mustering the social and cultural capital to navigate the
complex educational maze. Some have had experiences that were negative which has
left them feeling unwelcomed by the school community. This in turn, has led to
distrust and many are hesitant to get involved because of their past experiences.
Several state government along with the federal government have established policies
that require schools and districts that receive Title 1 funds to develop school family
compacts that dictate how these groups will work together to bolster student
achievement. It appears that everyone understands the importance of involving the
community and families in schools.
Currently, in the district where I work, it has room for improvement in terms of
parental and community outreach and supporting community based partnership
programs. While attending conferences addressing this issue, other schools

Digestive Enzymes Breakdown Various Macromolecules
Background Objectives: Digestive enzymes are present throughout the digestive
system and are used to breakdown various macromolecules obtained from food. An
enzymes activity is dependent upon the temperature and pH at which it is present.
Enzymes work optimally at specific temperature and pH levels. The purpose of this
lab is to examine various enzymes to determine which substrates they digest, and at
which pH they work optimally.
Methods: The enzymes amylase, pepsin, and trypsin were each mixed with the
substrates starch and albumin at pH levels of 2, 7, and 9. At 10 min intervals, the
starch mixtures were treated with lugol s solution and the albumin mixtures with
biuret and ninhydrin solutions to determine whether digestion occurred. An unknown
enzyme was then added to starch and albumin at the various pH and the same tests
were performed to determine the identity of the unknown enzyme. ... Show more

Amylase at pH 2 showed presence of starch, whereas at pH levels 7 and 9 revealed
absence of starch. The biuret test indicated undigested protein for all enzymes except
for the pepsin solution at pH 2 at 30 minutes contained short polypeptides. The
ninhydrin test with amylase at pH 2 showed absence of amino acids, and their
presence at pH 7 and 9. For pepsin, tests showed presence of amino acids, conversely
trypsin had no amino acids present. The unknown exhibited similar results to trypsin
with the exception of the ninhydrin

It s what keeps me alive, it s the blood pumping through my veins, it s the one thing I can relate to when times are too tough to handle. There is one particular rock group that changed my life completely, and I am fully prepared to explain why. They are called Green Day, the single most inspirationally powerful band that I have ever looked up to. I admire them for several reasons, the main one being that no matter how much each of them have been through, they still followed their dreams of becoming musicsuperstars. Billie Joe Armstrong, the lead vocalist and lyricist of the band knew what he wanted to do for the rest of his life at a young age. He grew up in the small town of Rodeo, ... They lost some fans and gained even more when the record sold over 14 million copies worldwide in 2004, literally making them the most successful punk band of all time. This was all made possible by a lot of hard work and perseverance, and that alone motivated many people to pick up the guitar, bass or drums by learning from the

Although polity is the mixture of both oligarchy and democracy, Aristotle rejects oligarchy because of its inequality in wealth and rejects democracy because of its equality in freedom and allows everyone to do as they please, with minimal restrictions. The middle class, according to Aristotle, is not only reasonable but it s also virtuous because there is no excess or deficit in power. Aristotle indicates that polity is the virtuous form of government because too excessive power, like in a democracy, leads to crime and violence. In the other extreme, the excess of wealth in an oligarchy, in turn, will also lead to crime. Essay on The American Revolution and the Formation of Bolivia пѓ Introduction The American Revolution did much more than any of our founding fathers had ever imagined, it started a movement that would threaten the very roots of colonialism across the globe. Setting an example of how a David could overcome a Goliath, the United States inspired regions such as Latin America to fight for their rights and liberties as well. One such region that embraced the message was Upper Peru, which would later be known as Bolivia. With some key tipping points that caused the war, the leaders of the soon to be formed nation rallied its troops and won several major battles, but even they couldn t prevent the tough times that lay in the early years of the nation. From the year 1809, Upper Peru was engaged in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Simon Bolivar, who had a reputation of being a liberator, took center stage. The common folk began to trust his words, as he talked about fighting for the resources that were theirs, ideals taken directly from the American Revolution itself. Also with the power struggle created by the Napoleonic wars, uprisings began. The most prominent of this movement was the uprising in Chuquisaca in 1809, which led to the formation of the Government Juntas. This group focused on taking the power from the Spanish and giving it to the people. Seeing the movement in Bolivia take shape, Latin Nations such as Peru began to provide military support to Bolivian liberators. Surprisingly, America didn t live up to its reputation, having no negative impact on this revolution. Normally, America had been notorious for backing up the dictators or colonial powers and suppressing the Latin liberators. All in all, the combination of a power struggle brought upon by foreign wars, introduction of revolutionary independence ideals, proper leadership, and foreign aid, the Bolivian revolution was successful in liberating the nation from Spanish Colonial power after 16 years of conflict. пѓ Leaders o Simon Bolivar ( July 24th, 1783 Dec 17th, 1830) SimГіn JosГ© Antonio de la SantГsima Trinidad BolГvar, or more commonly known as Simon Bolivar The Liberator, was born in Caracas, Venezuela (Lynch, 2007, p.25). • 11. Paradox Of Fiction Fictional works of art are something that is very popular in our culture and draw a large audience, but why is that when the audience knows that what they are watching is solely a made up story? The Paradox of Fiction highlights the problem of experiencing emotions about fictional stories. I think what causes the most questioning is that the audience knows it is purely fictional and in no way real, but we still feel particularly strong emotions nonetheless. The emotions experienced are in fact genuine to the viewer, although they are not genuine in a sense of being how one might respond if they were actually placed in the situation of the characters. I believe that most people use fictional stories to escape their daily lives and focus on something that they can relate to that doesn t actually affect their life. Several questions arise when discussing the Paradox of Fiction: Does fiction matter since it is not reality? , How does it come to play on our emotions? , Are those emotions real since we would ultimately react differently had it been reality? . The Paradox of Fiction is hard to understand because we cannot know for sure why we feel the need to get so emotionally involved in a fantasy world. The emotions that surface when we watch a scary movie are seemingly as real as if we were actually in the same situation in our real life. But what causes us to feel this way is something that is still trying to be understood by many. There is no logical, scientific

  • 13. Dispossessed And Patterns Recognition Essay Thesis: Women s role in science fiction and how it reflects our society Women s role changing Throughout Wool, The dispossessed and Pattern recognition, we are exposed to many female characters in these novels. Although science fiction has long been defined as a genre dominated by men, it is so surprising to see that women character has played dominate roles in these novels. The impact of women on these novels can be clearly observed, but each book depicts women character so differently that made me curious about knowing further about women s status and roles play in society and how they change over time. To start with The Dispossessed, which published 1974, tells the story of the two worlds, Anarres and Urras, which are very different from each other. The passage marks a series of gendered differences between the two societies: the people live and work in Annares treat women as their equal companions and a partner that can be with them in the sexual relationship. She does not define herself as propriety to society or men. She makes her living by her unique abilities. From my perspective, it is a sign that women s role in society today is heading to a status that they gradually possess the conscious of identity rather than a dependent. A few main points of interest are the people behind the attack, the locations that were targeted, and the overall response from French legislation. People Behind the Attack After the attack, many were wondering who was behind it. Many signs pointed to ISIS, a terrorist group dedicated to spreading its power, radical religious ideologies, and influence. Shortly after the attacks, ISIS released a video stating that they were indeed behind the attacks. A member of ISIS stated in the video that eight brothers, wrapped in explosive belts and armed with machine rifles, targeted sites that were accurately chosen in the heart of the capital of France... • 21. Description of an Off-Campus Event Stepping outside of one s own comfort zone is not an always an easy accomplishment. It can be very uncomfortable to do something that would never usually be a part of your normal everyday life, especially when it involves your religion and beliefs. On the flipside of all the lack of comfort, doing something you usually would not do has many great benefits, such as learning new ideas and facts, meeting new people, and overall broadening your knowledge of the world. As a non denominational Christian, I decided to challenge myself by attending a religious event that I would never typically attend. On Sunday, March 30th, I attended a Mass service at a Roman Catholic Church; specifically St. Gabriel Parish in Norwood, Pennsylvania with a Catholic friend of mine that I was visiting for the weekend. This was the first time I ever attended an actual Sunday morning service that was Catholic, and I found it to be quite the interesting experience, even though it was not as unusual for me as I had originally presumed it would be. I grew up in Norwood right near St. Gabriel, and passed it every day to go to my good friend s home that was a football field length away from the churches front doors, but I have never attended a Mass there, or at any other Catholic churchfor that matter. I have always had a negative mentality when it comes to St. Gabriel because growing up the priest at the church would often scold me and my friends for playing stickball in the alleyway between the church

Introduction: This essay will explore the cell cycle, cancer, cancer, mitosis and meioses, genetic variation, Mendelian genetics, and complex genetic inheritance. Each area will be broken down in further detail, and the result should demonstrate the knowledge learned on the subjects. The Cell Cycle The cell cycle is a series of stages that occurs when a new cells makes the division from the parent cell to two daughter cells. This is a stage in cellular reproduction. The cell cycle consists of three phases, interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis. During Interphase, a cell will continue to perform its functions as usual. The time frame for Interphase varies; while an embryonic cell will take just a few hours to complete the cycle, a stem cell from an adult can take 24 hours (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015). After the interphase stage completes itself, a complete nuclear division happens and mitosis occurs. During the stage of mitosis, the daughter cells will receive the same amounts of the contents of the parent cell. Throughout the last stage, in the cytoplasm there is a division known as Cytokinesis (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015). Cytokinesis occurs differently in plant cells than it does in animal cells, as the cell wall around the plant prevents the process from happening the same way. Instead, a new plasma membrane and cell walls are built are built between the daughter cells. However, in animal cells a single cell will become two (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015). The Abnormal Cell

White people already didn t think much of us. It took place in a small town in South Carolina called Catfish Row. The apartments sat close to a beach. Throughout the play, there was plenty of ways that portrayed African Americanin a negative way. Porgy and Bess is the epitome of how Caucasians thought of African Americans and the way we live. Throughout my paper I m going to express how white people judged African Americans, Where did Porgy and Bess come from, and The names of the characters and how degrading the authors are making African Americans out to be. The names of the characters go a long way. Some of their names have meaning to them, the meaning of their names are literally the role they play. And the time the play was written. Gershwin labeled the play as a folk opera. It was written in the year of 1935 by a Jewish man. Which makes it interesting to study the kind of impact it had on the African Americans at that time. • 25. Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde Dr. Jekyll and Mary Reilly Robert Louis Stevenson established himself as one of the masters of adventure novels in English literature. His skills as a suspenseful storyteller can be seen in his 1886 novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Stevenson tells the story of the Dr. Jekyll and his murderous alter ego Mr. Hyde, through the eyes of Dr. Jekyll s lawyer Mr. Utterson. Valerie Martin s Mary Reilly tells the story of Jekyll and Hyde, but through a very different set of eyes. Martin s version tells the same story, only through the point of view of Dr. Jekyll s housemaid, Mary Reilly. Mary Reilly does not appear in the original Stevenson novel, but her addition in Martin s version is pivotal to the exploration into further details into the life of Dr. Jekyll. While, Martin s version stays true to the original storyline of uncovering the dark instinctual part of Jekyll, it adds an emotional aspect to the story that is excluded from the original version. Stevenson s version tells the story of Jekyll and Hyde through nightmarish imagery. Leaving the reader in suspense and questioning what the relationship between Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde truly is. Stevenson s primary character, Mr. Utterson is a representation of an English gentleman. He is of upper class means and holds loyalty and reputation in high regard. Utterson also refuses to gossip or express himself candidly. This conservative attribute of Utterson is expressed through his dialogue with Enfieled after

Between 1400 and 1918, western warfare went through four periods that saw such profound change that it can fairly be said that a military revolution occurred. According to historians MacGregor Knox and Williamson Murray, military revolutions fundamentally change the framework of war and recast society and the state as well as military organizations. While all of the military revolutions studied in H100 were important in the evolution of warfare, one clearly stimulated greater change than the others. Thesis The First World War stimulated the greatest changes in warfare because it brought about new technology, saw improved infrastructure and communication and set the pattern for twentieth century warfare. They were domesticated women who stayed at home and performed all of the activities of a house wife, unless you belonged to a specific position in society. If you did received an education as a woman you were only offered certain jobs and baseball for women was definitely not one of them. During this time this sport was initiated because of the war as a way to make money. The women trying out for the sport felt like they were great but their coach kept reminding them they were girls and could not throw, because they did not have the same strength that of men. Among the individual variables that can impact the learning environment include personality traits (especially extraversion) and communication styles. Personality traits and differences among individual participants will be most evident in the first few hours, or perhaps sessions, of the training because the participants have not yet had time to relax into their new environment. Learningstyles will also be different among the participants, which will showcase personality trait differences even more. A trainer can easily work with a variety of people and different learning and personality styles by developing a dynamic and diverse training system. The learning environment should be one that promotes inclusivity, to allow different types of people to have the opportunity to engage in the training. Communication styles can create problems, which trainers do need to understand when designing the learning environment. Ensuring that people can interact with the trainer and provide feedback will minimize problems that arise when people do not express their concerns openly. Listening carefully to all participants, even when they have a complaint, is essential. Environmental factors that impact the learning environment range from temperature to aesthetics. Participants need to be comfortable during training, or else their concentration will wane. Therefore, temperature needs to be maintained

There are many ways to read this play for example, it may appears uneventful to some reader who only reads the play literally as an entertainment but if the reader looks at this play as some cultural study then the theme of understanding will surely be obvious and the reading will be a tougher task as there are many things that must be taken into consideration such as the clash of cultures (Soyinka 3) and threnodic essence (Soyinka 3), which is the main theme of the play. Cultural tension between the Western cultureand the Yoruba s culture can be felt throughout the play because the writer always draws the attention of the reader to understand another s culture (Yoruba s culture) from a perspective of a different culture (Western culture) in the play. The struggle between the Westerners and the Africans to understand each other can be seen from the beginning to the end of the play. • 42. No Child Left Behind Analysis This paper will be concerned with the federal legislation known as No Child Left Behind (NCLB). The proclaimed intention of this law is to improve both the quality and equality of education in the United States. NCLB attempts to do this by focusing on the use of standardized academic tests. Many educators have criticized NCLB for its philosophical assumptions and for having an impact that is the opposite of what is supposedly intended. Historical Background The ideas behind NCLB stem from changes in the federal government s role in education, which have been occurring since the 1950s. In 1954, the Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education outlawed the practice of racial segregation in America s schools (A guide, 2004, p.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Susan Ohanian, in her introduction to an article by Cook (2004), points out that compliance with NCLB necessitates the expenditure of a great deal of time, energy, and money. In an article published by FairTest, an organization that is opposed to NCLB, it is claimed that the legislation fails to address the real problems that schools face and it is overly focused on being punitive against schools that fail to rise above INOI status (FairTest, 2004, n. p.). Karen (2005) notes that NCLB has thus far been characterized by inadequate funding, a poor understanding of the nature of educational and social inequality, and an even worse implementation plan (p.

The ethical and social issues under discussion involve the acquisition, distribution, storage, processing and dissemination of digital data in information systems and how individuals and groups interact with these systems and data. The moral considerations of computer ethics are related to the responsibility and accountability of the computer users and professionals with regard to the design and implementation of information systems. Computer ethics also includes the study of the policies, rules, and legislations that refer to a particular situation and the alternative ethical decisions, as well as the social implications of these alternatives. The Weight Of One Of The World s Most Dominant Religions Jesus as a Figure in History: a Wealth of Information for Those Already Informed Jesus Christ is one of the most recognizable figures in the modern world. And the legacies of few people have sparked as many wars, built as many nations, and changed as many individual s lives, as Jesus of Nazareth. Understandably, scholars and spiritualists alike have striven to answer one central question, who was this Jesus ? To some, He is known as the Son of God, who overcame death and sin, offering salvation through His resurrection for all who place their faith in him. To others, He was merely a carpenter from the small town of Nazareth, living in the early years of the Common Era. And trying to figure out much else about Jesus is one of the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In antiquity, historical thought was not what we would recognize as history today. Those who lived alongside Jesus, or wrote about Him in contemporary times were not concerned so much with what was but with what ought to have been. They wrote biographies with some sort of pre conceived posture of who Jesus was, and molded the story to present that character. This was not seen as dishonest in ancient times; in fact, it was considered the truest of histories. But in the age of the Enlightenment, scholars began concerning themselves with the historical validity of the subjects they studied. This began the first wave of historical Jesus scholarship. At this time, various scholars became intent on discovering the historical Jesus, and began writing various works, presented as the life of Jesus. But these writings suffered from an integral flaw, which has infected historical Jesus scholarship until today. Rather than being works of discovery, they were truly projects. Powell argues well, in his first chapter on the history of the historical Jesus movement, that a life of Jesus would typically impose some grand scheme or hypothesis upon the material that allowed everything to be interpreted in accord with a consistent paradigm... [and] exclude material in the Gospels that did not fit with this paradigm... (Powell, 12) Powell takes a
  • 46. Prejudice And Racism In Schools Racism isn t hating someone because of their race. Prejudice is not a misconception of who a person is. Racism is being prejudiced because a person believes their race is superior; and, prejudice is a preconceived opinion not based on any prior experience. In other words, racism is when a person has a preconceived opinion about another person because they feel their race is superior. Racism and prejudice are probably two of the most talked about and controversial words 60 years ago and still today. When Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat and Martin L. King marched on Selma they didn t think we would still be in such a place today; we are in a place where people are not allowed to be themselves without facing judgment. This is the same prejudice and racism members of society face in schools, by students and educators which limits their ability to progress in a world full of competition and rise above what demographics say they are destined to become. As the great Charles Albert Tindley once said, We Shall Overcome! Most school districts in urban America use a zoning system to determine what school a certain area in that city goes. In many cities, there are what people call, good schools and bad schools. To explain, Essentially, your school could be what the people in your city call the bad school. For Norfolk Public Schools, Booker T. Washington High School(BTW) happens to be the bad school. For a while this school was unaccredited and therefore the students

According to the 2012 MetLife Survey of the American Teacher, it identified family engagement as one of the most challenging aspect of their work. Schools and teachers want to develop a stronger home and school partnership with shared responsibility of the results, but are not always sure of how to make that happen. Likewise, families and communities have a great desire to partner with schools but often encounter the structural challenges of navigating the school system as well mustering the social and cultural capital to navigate the complex educational maze. Some have had experiences that were negative which has left them feeling unwelcomed by the school community. This in turn, has led to distrust and many are hesitant to get involved because of their past experiences. Several state government along with the federal government have established policies that require schools and districts that receive Title 1 funds to develop school family compacts that dictate how these groups will work together to bolster student achievement. It appears that everyone understands the importance of involving the community and families in schools. Digestive Enzymes Breakdown Various Macromolecules Background Objectives: Digestive enzymes are present throughout the digestive system and are used to breakdown various macromolecules obtained from food. An enzymes activity is dependent upon the temperature and pH at which it is present. Enzymes work optimally at specific temperature and pH levels. The purpose of this lab is to examine various enzymes to determine which substrates they digest, and at which pH they work optimally. Methods: The enzymes amylase, pepsin, and trypsin were each mixed with the substrates starch and albumin at pH levels of 2, 7, and 9. At 10 min intervals, the starch mixtures were treated with lugol s solution and the albumin mixtures with biuret and ninhydrin solutions to determine whether digestion occurred.
