World Need Adoption
Adoption: A Needed Action in the World I always questioned if I was ready to adopt and then I
realized no child was ready to be an orphan, said unknown author. There are children who are without
a home or family. Their parents are deceased or have chosen to abandon them. They have to defend
life themselves. Children die because they are hungry and do not have a source of food supply. The
problem, however, has a solution. Adoption provides homes and families for the children. It also
provides a child to a family that could not have one themselves. Adoption is a needed action in the
world because it saves lives, provides homes, and creates opportunities for the children. First, the
world needs adoption because it saves an abundant amount of children s lives. In some countries,
mothers are allowed to only have one child or a certain gender. Mothers will abandon the child to
escape the cruel punishment. The children are left to defend for themselves. Children make up half of
the people living in poverty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are 140 million orphans in need of a home and family. If 140 million families adopted one
child, the number of orphans would nearly be vanished. Orphans would no longer exist. The saying,
Home is where the heart is, explains what adoption really gives a child. It provides a home where they
can feel loved. A home that will provide food so they do not have to worry about starving anymore. A
home that will, hopefully, share the love of Jesus. A home that will be filled with laughter and fun. A
home that will be filled with memories with their family. There are around 136,000 children adopted
each year (Davenport 2016). Each year, 136,000 children are given a home and a family. Adoption is
needed in the world because it provides a forever home for the children that changes their

Case Study Of Lennovo
Lenovo, being one of the world s top five smart phone makers has a zero market share in the US
markets which is one of the largest markets for smart phones. Motorola on the other hand, has been in
the US markets for 85 years while it has a poor distribution in other markets.
Lenovo s biggest business is PCs and it is the world s number 1 PC maker. But the sales of PCs isn t
growing which makes it imperative for Lenovo to focus on its mobile phone segment in order to be a
tech leader.
Having the experience in integrating and running US based tech companies; Lenovo seems fit to run
Motorola. Lenovo bought the ThinkPad business from IBM and guided it to success, and subsequently
it has a manufacturing plant in Whitsitt, N.C. making Think branded products.

In simple terms, Lenovo wants a cell phone business that is viable. Post the acquisition, it gets to be
the third largest mobile device manufacturer in the world. Also, through this acquisition, Lenovo gets
to compete with Samsung more effectively across a broader spectrum of growth markets.
Motorola, unlike Lenovo is a known name in US and other important markets of Western Europe and
Latin America and has a strong foothold in the US and Latin America having 52% of its revenues
from US and 20% of its revenues from the Latin American market, which Lenovo can get access to
with the deal, thus having a much easier way of entering these markets and giving it in roads.
Add to that, Lenovo also gets a company that has an impressive spend on R D as compared to that of
Lenovo. This would do a lot of good things to Lenovo if they are able to guide Motorola

Examples Of Justice In The Scottsboro Boys
The scottsboro boys were a group of young black boys on a train. Then they got into a fight with a
couple white boys on the train and threw them off . Next two young white woman that were also
riding the train said they raped them and sent the boys were sent to court.
The central ideas of justice develop throughout the book by when the boys are first put on trial to
when the boys are released or died.Based on the definition of justice and my beliefs justice means that
everyone gets the same thing and is treated equally. The scottsboro boys did not receive justice when
they were first trialed but in the end they did receive justice and some of the boys were set free. The

Interval Training Versus Aerobic Exercise Analysis
Interval training and continuous aerobic exercise are two of the most common cardio exercises
practiced by athletes today. However, one is slightly better than the other when looking at performance
increases. An easy way to measure performance increases is to examine the VO2 max of an individual
before and after a training period. VO2 max is the measure of how much oxygen a body can take in
from the air. It is a great reflection of physical fitness because it reflects how efficiently a person can
use oxygen which is needed for most exercises, especially cardio. Interval training is when a person
switches between two activities that vary in intensity or effort. Continuous aerobic exercise is when a
person performs an activity at the same intensity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anaerobic energy is energy that is produced in the absence of oxygen. On the other hand, aerobic
energy is energy that is produced in the presence of oxygen. The difference in energy pathway may
explain the difference in VO2 increases between interval training and continuous aerobic exercise.
Many people struggle to incorporate cardio into their workout routine because they think they must
run endless miles to see results. This excuse is invalid because interval training can provide just as
many health benefits, if not more, than continuous aerobic exercise. Even though interval training has
been shown to improve performance in many people, a blend of interval training and continuous
aerobic exercise that is designed for an individual s goals is the best approach to implement cardio.
Interval training results in greater performance increases and more motivation to exercise than
continuous aerobic training in many types of people, including well trained athletes, diabetics,
children, and people with Down syndrome. However, the most important thing is for people to
incorporate cardio into their exercise

The Class System
The class system is commonly known throughout the world, although some countries admit its
existence and adhere to it more readily than others. In the US, sociologists have broken down the
typical three classes of upper, middle and lower into six classes: upper/super class, upper middle,
middle, working, working poor, and underclass. These groupings better illustrate the current state of
society, and the variances that exist between them. The superclass is the elite. They generally are in
this class due to income from outside of work, such as gaining an inheritance. This also includes
captains of industry or other prestigious work positions, and household income is $2 million (Doob,
2013, p. 78). This group is the 1% that was rallied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s often believed that one will remain in the social class to which they were born, but structural
mobility has made a great impact on that concept. Structural mobility describes the technological or
institutional change [that] creates an increase or decrease in jobs within a certain class (Doob, 2013, p.
87). In the last few decades, this has generally served to create downward intergenerational mobility,
because the jobs that were held by baby boomers and caused upward social mobility for them have
now been replaced by technology or eliminated altogether. Younger generations have found
themselves facing competition not only from their peers, but from the machines that are quickly being

Data is collected to learn the effectiveness of a particular tool in preventing defects or to look into the
cause of a particular defect (Burrill, Ledolter, p.381). Data removes the trepidation and uncertainty of
an unknown element. One reason for collecting data is to gain an understanding of the data by

However, the nature of this knowledge varies and reflects your study objectives. Some study
objectives seek to make standardized and systematic comparisons, others seek to study a phenomenon
or situation in detail. These different intentions require different approaches and methods, which are
typically categorized as either quantitative or qualitative. I. Quantitative Research
Quantitative research provides quantified answers to research problems and is commonly associated
with positivistic (objectively measurable), experimental research (Pope, Mays, 1995). Quantitative
research typically explores specific and clearly defined questions that examine the relationship
between two events, or occurrences, where the second event is a consequence of the first event, e.g.
What impact did the program have on children s school performance? To test the causality or link
between the program and children s school performance, quantitative researchers will seek to maintain
a level of control of the different variables that may influence the relationship between events and
recruit respondents randomly.
Quantitative approaches address the what of the program. They use a systematic standardized
approach and employ methods such as surveys (Hawe, Degeling, Hall, 1990) and ask questions such
as What activities did the program run? or

Nike s Company Strategy Is A Clever One
Strengths
Company owns no factories: Nike s company strategy is a clever one. While still in school at Stanford,
the founder Phil Knight thought that instead of paying Americans to put together Nike s shoes, Knight
believed that it would be best to take their manufacturing plants oversees, to places where the labor
would be immensely cheaper than in the United States, for example South Korea and Taiwan. With 86
percent of Nike s products being manufactured in one of the aforementioned countries and Nike
employing a large number of people who lived there, both countries shared in the riches until the
founder decided prices were too high to manufacture there anymore.
Global Market Leader: The footwear and sportswear industry causes constant demand for new
footwear technology around the world and no company has maintained a share in every major market
around the world, like Nike. Nike has the chance to go to countries like India, where the economies
and social statuses of people are changing and growing to allow for companies like Nike to sell their
products. Despite all of the opportunities Nike has in the industry, competition has been strengthening
and the market of fake goods has been growing within the past ten years.
Innovative Culture: The culture of inventing new things is a strong core competency for the Nike
brand. The things left for the future by such invention of new things in search of better, lighter, faster

The Power of Great Expectations and Jane Eyre Essay example
The Power of Great Expectations and Jane Eyre
Many novels have been written in many different eras. Each era has its `reform novel or piece of
literature, or pieces of work that broke the mold . For the Greeks, it was Homer s Odyssey; for the
Renaissance, it was The Essays: Of Cannibals by Michel de Montaigne; for the Medieval era, it was
Dante Alighieri s Inferno. It was the same in the Victorian era, which ran from 1850 to about 1900.
The reform authors were Charlotte Brontë and Charles Dickens. These two authors wrote Jane Eyre
and Great Expectations, respectively. Through these novels, the authors have epitomized the Victorian

Needless to say, Mr. Rochester and Jane fell in love. However, Jane did not want to marry. Except that
her love grows too strong, Jane puts aside her stubbornness for love.
My future husband was becoming to me my whole world; and more than the world: almost my hope
of heaven. He stood between me and every thought of religion, as an eclipse intervenes between man
and the broad sun. I could not, in those days, see God for his creature: of whom I had made an idol.
(Brontë: ch 25)
Jane then relents and marries Rochester. Jane made the journey from explosive, to independent, to in
love; a true journey for a woman in the Victorian era.
Pip, the main character of Great Expectations, is an orphaned boy who is one the quintessential round
characters. When Pip is first introduced, he is an easily influenced young boy living with his sister,
Mrs. Joe, and her husband, Joe Gargery. When Pip was asked to steal from Mrs. Joe and Joe by a
convict, he could hardly live with himself:
If I slept at all that night, it was only to imagine myself drifting down the river on a strong spring tide,

the goal higher and harder to get, but with a positive outlook and no fear in failing everybody can
accomplish anything. When your own life is your goal than the risks are all you can take. It is

a life without trying is no life at all. Nando personality is what saved Canessa from giving up along
with many others, his stubbornness helped him accomplish his goal because he kept pushing himself

Hate Love Relationship In The Movie Lady Bird
Lady Bird hate love relationship
Anybody who talks about California hedonism has never spent Christmas in Sacramento by Joan
Didion. The movie starts with this quote where it all happens.
Lady Bird is a coming of age drama comedy film set in Sacramento, California in the fall of 2002. It is
a semi autobiographical film, written and directed by Greta Gerwig, a popular indie actress. Given a
lot of buzz and critical acclaim, including the Best Picture and Best Director Oscar nomination in the
90th Annual Awards to air live on March 4th, 2018, Greta shines in her first solo directing debut.
Lady Bird is a wash out red color dyed hair senior high school student at a suburban catholic school
called Immaculate Heart. In fierce defiance to use her birth name given by her parents, Christine
McPherson (Saoirse Ronan) named herself Lady Bird . Lady Bird is very opinionated, idealistic,
awkward, hypocritical, and endearing typical teenager. She has a difficult relationship with her strong
willed, domineering, hypercritical, and sometimes demeaning but loving mother, Mario played by
Laurie Metcalf.

It touched me emotionally because of its realistic scenes and how it can relate to anyone to has gone

heartbreaking, real and volatile. Even though, there are many scenes where Lady Bird and her mother
argue, including silent moments which is a form of punishment for Lady Bird, the love of her mother
still win. For me, the most touching scene of the movie is when her mother is sewing her dress for the
Thanksgiving dinner at Danny s grandmother house. Even though her mother is really upset about her
missing her last Thanksgiving dinner before she goes to college, she still makes a beautiful dress for
Lady Bird to wear. Every mother has a big heart and they will forgive and support their children no

rules of another. At this age children have a sense of moral realism. This means that they believe all
elements of morality such as rules and punishments come from an external source and exist in their
own right. Due to this they see things as clearly right or wrong as they are told is the case. From the
age of 10 the morality of a child is autonomous. Autonomous means this is where the starts to believe
that they are subject to one s own laws and rules. This stage involves moral relativism. This is where
the child starts to understand that rules come from social relationships and they know the importance

Kohlberg believed that we must have an understanding of justice as that represents the most
fundamental moral principle. Kohlberg gave a group of subjects a number of moral dilemma s

involved 10 universal moral issues which were punishment, property, law, roles and concerns of

Kohlberg s theory of moral development involved three levels with each level having two stages.

Mrs. Dalloway
I. Mrs. Dalloway, by Virginia Woolf, was published on May 14, 1925 in London, England. The novel
follows Clarissa Dalloway and a variety of other characters throughout the span of one day in their
lives in 1923 London. Woolf utilizes a narrative method of writing. With the novel s structure, the
narrator possesses the ability to move inside of a character s mind and compose her thoughts and
emotions immediately as events occur throughout the day. The novel s main character, Clarissa, is a
middle aged woman who belongs to the upper middle class in society and is well married to a Member
of Parliament Richard Dalloway. Clarissa s day is full of arrangements for a dinner party she plans to

Rather than hold lengthy conversations between characters, she frequently writes only of small talk
and leaves more serious topics to be recited in an individual s exclusive thoughts. One of her purposes
in writing the novel is to expose the hypocrisy of society. The characters in the novel range from
eccentric acquaintances to extravagant lords and ladies to vindictive tutors to suicidal veterans. One
example of this theme occurs when Rezia and Septimus attempt to settle down in the park. When the
airplane soars overhead, she writes, Tears ran down his cheeks (Woolf 21). While one may mistake
this as joy or, at worst, sorrow over the recent war, Woolf gives the reality of the action beneath the
surface, stating, They are signaling to me... this exquisite beauty... but he would not go mad. He would
see no more (21). While Septimus dwindles on the brink of insanity, Rezia chatters away about nature,
unaware of the mess resting beside her. Septimus portrays the appearance of one man yet expresses an
entirely new persona through his contemplations. Another instance of the theme transpires when Miss
Kilman and Clarissa wait for Elizabeth to retrieve her gloves before going shopping. Clarissa and
Kilman both make attempts at small talk. However, both give their attentions to a mutual disgust of
each other. Clarissa simply asks if Kilman is taking Elizabeth to the stores. Kilman replies dryly, but

Aspects Of Ell Education And Student Achievement
There are many aspects of ELL education to be explored. In order to effectively inform policy on ELL
education, one must consider what affects student achievement, how to keep education adequate and
equitable with the inclusion of ELLs, and how ELL education affects funding of schools. These
topical areas of research, while not exhaustive, are helpful in framing the larger topic of this paper: if
varying numbers of ELLs affect the state mechanism for funding ELL education.
ELL Education and Student Achievement
One of the first questions one must consider when dealing with ELL acquisition is what differences
affect student achievement. In ELL education, there is a great amount of variation within the different
approaches to teaching ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other aspects of program implementation were not significant to ELL students but affected non ELL
students scores. Overall, they found that states placing more of an emphasis on bilingual education
had ELLs scoring higher in reading tests.
While their study is helpful in understanding how state emphasis on ELL education makes a
difference, one shortcoming of their study is that while they do have a limited categorical model for
how they determined state emphasis it only surveys eight states in their analysis. Furthermore, while
they survey the historical development of ELL programs nationally, it fails to explain why some states
place more emphasis (through more tailored programs) on ELL education. This last failing
demonstrates the need for a study demonstrating the link between ELLs and policy.
Adequacy and Equity of ELL Education
ELL education is important when considering the adequacy and equity of education for ELLs and non
ELLs alike. Ramirez et al. studied the adequacy and equity of funding ELLs in Colorado through
categorical funding in the English Language Proficiency Act (ELPA) and determined the effect of ELL
enrollment in conjunction with the ELPA program on school districts. He found that in Colorado,

Light emitting diodes, also known as LEDs have really...
Light emitting diodes, also known as LEDs have really changed the way people think about lighting.
An ordinary incandescent light bulb uses up 90% of energy it consumes as heat. Also, they last about
900 hours. The LED lasts about 25,000 hours, which is equivalent to 22 years. This is a major
difference.
Origins of the Technology:
In 1962, Nick Holonyak Jr. invented the first light emitting diode, also known as the LED light bulb.
He was a general Electric researcher. Some of the first work done on LEDs was at Bell Labs in the
1950 s. GE scientists were experimenting with many different chemicals. By 1960, GE scientists were
experimenting with gallium arsenide, a III V semiconductor compound alloy (III and V referring to
columns of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After that, blue and white diodes were made. The blue diodes helped with the creation of the white
diodes. Researchers decided to coat the blue LEDs with phosphor (a fluorescent fluid) to make the
blue LEDs look white. All of this allowed LEDs to be used in traffic lights, flashlights, and TVs.
LED bulbs are more efficient than regular bulbs. A regular CFL light bulbs costs about $5, while an
LED can vary from $15 $40. LEDs are more expensive because their efficiency is better than an
ordinary bulb. Regular light bulbs do a terrible job of converting energy to light. This causes the
majority of the energy in the light bulb to be wasted as heat energy. The bad thing about LEDs is that
they are more expensive than regular bulbs. This is very negative because today people may not want
to spend their money on something like this.
How it Works: The first part of a light emitting diode (LED) is the diode. A diode is an electric
component that has two electrodes that are called the anode and the cathode. The diode is the simplest
type of a semi conductor. A semi conductor is a solid chemical element that can conduct electricity.
Most semiconductors are made with damaged conductors that have impurities added to them. This is
called doping. The impurities can be atoms from another material. In pure aluminum gallium arsenide,
all of the atoms bond perfectly to their neighbors, leaving no free electrons (negatively charged
particles) to conduct electric current.

Essay on Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse
Alcohol is the number one drug problem among America s youth. More senior high school students
use alcohol than any other psychoactive drug. Family doctors, pediatricians, schoolteachers, and
parents know that alcohol is overwhelmingly the drug of choice among today s youth, although
trendier substances such as cocaine are often given more attention in the headlines (Carla Felsted, p.
vii). Furthermore, it is widely acknowledged that drinking alcohol is a part of the youth culture in
America; it may also be understood as a culturally conditioned and socially controlled behavior.
In my generation drinking among underage kids is blamed on peers, accessibility, and adulthood.

In a study done by Paul Rhode, PhD, a scientist at the Oregon Research Institute in Eugene, he and his
colleagues evaluated whether teenagers with serious alcohol problems were likely to continue their
behavior into adulthood. Roxanne Nelson states that the researchers found that serious alcohol
problems as a teenager did predict future substance abuse, alcoholism, depression, and symptoms of
antisocial and borderline personality disorders by age 24. In addition, teenagers who were heavy
drinkers but that hadn t actually been diagnosed with a serious alcohol problem were also at some
increased risk for these same problems.
Teenagers face many difficult decisions in their lives and have many people in their lives that
influence them. One of the major groups that influence teens is their peer group. Since teenagers are
not yet comfortable with themselves, they have a strong need to be accepted by their peers. And to be
accepted, they feel they have to be just like their peers (Ruth Maxwell, p. 24). From Maxwell we learn
that teenagers will use alcohol to be accepted by a group. As age progresses the number of alcohol
users progress 73 percent of kids that are from the ages of 16 18 are drinkers. In addition, around 90
percent of high school seniors have experienced alcohol at least once in their life.

MICHAEL ARLEN: ODE TO THANKSGIVING
It is time, at last, to speak the truth about Thanksgiving, and the truth is this. Thanksgiving is really
not such a terrific holiday. Consider the traditional symbols of the event: Dried corn husks hanging on
the door! Terrible wine! Cranberry jelly in little bowls of extremely doubtful provenance which
everyone is required to handle with the greatest of care! Consider the participants, the merrymakers:
men and women (also children) who have survived passably well throughout the years, mainly as a
result of living at considerable distances from their dear parents and beloved siblings, who on this
feast of feasts must apparently forgather (as if beckoned by an aberrant fairy godmother), ... Show

since there are no easily recognizable ingredients visible to the naked eye.
Consider for a moment the Thanksgiving meal itself. It has become a sort of refuge for endangered
species of starch: cauliflower, turnips, pumpkin, mince (whatever mince is), those blessed yams.
Bowls of luridly colored yams, with no taste at all, lying torpid under a lava flow of marshmallow!
And then the sacred turkey. One might as well try to construct a holiday repast around a fish say, a

The Development of Anglo-Saxon Village West Stow Essay...
West Stow is an area in Britain located within modern day Suffolk, which through the mid 5th century
to early 7th century CE, housed a small Anglo Saxon village. The setting for the formation of West
Stow, and for Anglo Saxon Britain in general, begins around 407 CE with the exit of Roman troops
from Britain. In this paper, I will provide an overview of the circumstances that led to the Angles and
the Saxons invading/migrating to Britain, what they built in West Stow, and whether/how we know
what we do about this time period from archaeological findings, or from primary text sources. To
begin, as stated in the introduction, the Roman empire pulled it s armies stationed in Britain to Gaul
and possibly other locations within the empire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the big things from a cultural standpoint is the approximate social order of the Anglo Saxons,
as determined from references to various laws regarding them in the Salic Law. At the top of the order
were the Kings in the various kingdoms within Britain, under them were freemen in the king s service,
clergy, regular freemen, freedmen (Freed slaves), and at the bottom, slaves. These texts also give us
some idea of the economy and currency, especially when mentioned in relation to various fines, as
evidenced here; ...if any one be summoned before the court by the king s law and does not come, he
shall be sentenced to 600 denarii, which make 15 solidi. , and other such laws from the text. A good
portion of our historical evidence also comes from archaeological excavation of various sites in West
Stow. One of the most significant archaeological locations has been Sutton Hoo, grave mounds dating
back to the 6th and early 7th centuries. It contains 17 different burial mounds, the most notable of
which (Mound 1) contained an undisturbed ship burial containing art, jewelry, weapons, armor,
textiles, and fine clothing/accessories. It s clear from the richness of the burial that whoever was
buried there was royal and extremely wealthy, there is no direct evidence of this, but one theory is that

The Crucial Role Of Feminism In Mainstream Media
The mainstream media, such as national news broadcasting stations, magazines, and social media sites
such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, play a crucial role in the promotion and encouragement of
feminism. According to Andy Zeisler in a Quick Take article in Time magazine, Feminism, for better
and for worse, has become trendy, (Zeisler np). According to the beliefs expressed in an article by
Debra Baker in the NWSA Journal, media has mistreated feminism. She claims, ...the media portray
[active, assertive women] has turned all feminists into a frightening fringe element, (Beck 139). In all
honesty, the media has portrayed feminism with a negative connotation, but this is a fair portrayal.

By definition in the Meriam Webster Dictionary, equality means, the quality or state of being equal or
of the same measure, quantity, amount, or number as another, ( Equality np). On the other hand, equity
is defined as, justice according to natural law or right; specifically: freedom from bias or favoritism;
dealing fairly and equally with all concerned, ( Equity np). Most feminists, without even realizing
their error, are fighting for equity instead of fighting for equality. With reference to the SGBA e
Learning Resource: Rising to the Challenge, we can understand a direct distinction between equality
and equity. Equity, as we have seen, involves trying to understand and give people what they need to
enjoy full, healthy lives, (Clow np). From context, the term equity should be associated with giving
people what they need for a happy lifestyle. Equality, in contrast, aims to ensure that everyone gets the
same things in order to enjoy full, healthy lives. Like equity, equality aims to promote fairness and
justice, but it can only work if everyone starts from the same place and needs the same things, (Clow
np). It is impossible to provide everyone in the world, male and female, the same circumstances. This
has become a challenge for those who associate themselves with finding equality for all. It is physical
impossible because we are born in different circumstances, with incomparable talents and strengths.
Barbara Clow, Yvonne Hanson, and Jennifer Bernier, authors of the module Distinguish between
Equality and Equity, prove an important point as they contrast equality and equity. They use an
analogy of the failure of providing equality to competitors in a race at a track meet. The concept of
equality would have us treat the runners in exactly the same way, ensuring that they all start at the
same place on the track. But we know that runners in the inside

Why Is Artemidorus The Most Honorable Man In Julius Caesar
Artemidorus or Pindarus? Some of the most honorable people are some of the most forgotten or
irrelevant whereas some of the most corrupt are the most known. There are more corrupt men than
honorable men in the world. Without honorable men, the world would overflow with corrupt people.
The Tragedy of Julius Caesar has both honorable and corrupt men within the play. In my opinion,
Artemidorus is the most honorable man is the play, whereas Pindarus is the most corrupt man in the
play. To begin with, an honorable person is someone who can be trusted and are highly respected by
everyone. Honorable do the right thing even if it s the hardest thing to do. Artemidorus is one of the
most forgotten characters in the play, but plays a significant role. Artemidorus is the most honorable
man in the play. Artemidorus writes a letter to Julius Caesar telling him about the conspiracy and
names all the conspirators. By doing this he is risking his life to protect the life of Julius Caesar,
because he is a devoted friend. Artemidorus then proceeds to go out and wait for Caesar to pass by to
give him the letter on his way to the Senate to be pronounced King. This shows that no matter what
the cost is, Artemidorus stands up for what he believes in and has the best intentions in mind.
Artemidorus writes in this letter that despite the whole conspiracy going on, the gods are on Caesar s
side. By telling him this in the letter it shows that even when times are bad, he always has something

African Americans And African American Community
As seen through time, African Americans have been at a disadvantage when it comes to accessing
funds that are available to most people. This however has not stopped them from creating and
accessing help that supports and aids their families. Through communal efforts, African Americans
have been able to create mutual aid for themselves. In these communities, there are many sectors that
have been built, but the main reason many are making it or able to afford and do what they are
currently doing is through the help of the various communities and organizations that came about.
Throughout each decade there have been forms of aid created solely for African Americans. Before
slavery, when African Americans were still in Africa, the communities were thriving economically and
socially. Africa produced a plethora of advanced civilizations. Although Europeans like to credit
themselves for the spread of Christianity, Christianity was in Ethiopia long before the Europeans
came. As one can see through time, church is an important communal and distinctive quality of the
African American community. In his book, West African Religion: A Study of the Beliefs and
Practices of Akan, Ewe, Yoruba, Ibo, and Kindred Peoples, Geoffrey Parrinder explains, Africa had a
history, long before the Europeans came to our shores... Religion is a fundamental, perhaps the most
important, influence in the life of most Africans (Parrinder 1). African Americans already had the

Universal Health Care And Healthcare
Imagine what your life would be like if you were one of millions of Americans without medical
coverage. Universal health care is a system that will provide for all of citizens for health care and
financial protection. Over millions of Americans are currently without health care coverage for
themselves and also their families. Universal health care refers to any system of health care managed
by the governments. This universal health care is a system that may cover different programs such as
government run hospital, health organizations, and programs targeted that provides health care. Many
developed countries such as Canada and United Kingdom have embraced universal health care with
United States being the only exception that has not embraced universal health care to its citizens. One
of the reasons is that universal health care will ensured that all Americans citizens to have the right to
health care and will decrease health care costs by allowing people to receive regular and prevent
medical care. And not have to wait until they are chronically ill to seek treatment when medical costs
is way much higher. Another reason is health care should be a right because it will promote equal
opportunity by decreasing the number of people who are economically disadvantaged in society due to
bad health and medically related financial trouble. And they won t have to worry about when they get
sick and have to pay. So I really think is a good idea that the government should provide health

Essay on Collegiate Binge Drinking
Abstract: As recognition grows that binge drinking on colleges nationwide is more prevalent than
ever, school administrators and parents alike are seeking useful intervention to combat this issue.
Studies have determined that students use of alcohol is shaped, to some extent; by how much they
think other students on campus drink (Wechsler 2000:57). Most college students are in the particular
age group that statistically has the highest rate of binge drinking. According to the American Journal
of Public Health, this leads college students who decide to overindulge extremely vulnerable to such
health problems as: injuries from related car crashes; unplanned and unsafe sex; assault and aggressive
behavior; alcohol dependence; and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the purpose of this thesis, I will look specifically at binge drinking rates among college students in
Wisconsin and California. Having attended higher education in each state, I will try to gain a better
understanding as to why there is a higher level of binge drinking among college students in Wisconsin
than California. I will look at significant themes such as underage drinking, adult binge drinking, and
certain alcohol related policies in both states to show that there is a correlation between the
aforementioned variables and college binge drinking.
Historical Background
Sociologists in Wisconsin have for years tried to determine why alcohol is so engrained in that state s
culture. Sociologists concede that Climate, ethnicity, the historical significance of the brewing
business, a relative lack of newcomers who would want to reform lenient laws, as well as the social
nature of drinking in general are all possible explanations (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Wasted in
Wisconsin series 2008). Alcohol has become such a prevalent issue in Wisconsin that the Milwaukee
Journal Sentinel, Wisconsin s largest newspaper, has written a 72 part series on binge drinking in
Wisconsin. The series, called Wasted in Wisconsin, details how drinking is so deeply rooted in

How The Rules Of Tennis
How to learn the rules of tennis. Tennis started out around 1000 A.D . The game aroused more
popularity around 1625 in England . The game has changed so much after 1625. It is completely
different today. The ball is bouncier, and the racquets have changed also. The rules of tennis can be
complicated to learn at first. There are three basic steps to the rules. Understanding the score, when a
ball is in or out, and the differences between singles and doubles. The score of tennis can be difficult
to remember, even for players that have played a long time. Every game has at least 4 points. A set has
at least 6 games. The match has at least 2 sets. The player must win two sets to win the match. The
game starts out on the right side of the court. On every point, the serve changes sides of the baseline.
The point value of the first serve for the game starts out at love love. The server s score is always the
first to be announced. The server has two tries every point to land the ball on the other side of the net
for the point to start the volley. If both serves fail to make it on the other side of the court, it is called a
double fault. That point would be given to the other player. Each game starts out at 0 0. After that the
points can change to 15 0, 15 15 or 30 0, 40 15 or 30 30, game or 40 30, game or deuce, advantage
server, advantage receiver, game or deuce. The game can continue in deuce until either player wins
two points in a row. In order to win the set 6 games need to

Meat, China, And Communication Revolutions
Meat, China, and Communication Revolutions In Armand Mattelart s book The Invention of
Communication, the word communication is acknowledged as term with a great number of meanings.
However, Mattelart proposes that communication could be specifically understood as circuits of
circulation of goods, people, and messages (Mattelart xiv). This definition is critical to the thesis of
this paper, because it alludes to industry being an essential component of communication. This paper
will explore two specific industries: the meat packing industry of the late 19th century and the
exportation of consumer goods from contemporary China. I will argue that these are both examples of

First, let s consider Gustavus Swift and his meat packing company, and how everything from the
invention of the refrigerated rail cart, to becoming one of the first companies to utilize vertical
integration exemplifies communication revolution. As Professor Gary Fields explains in an essay
about communication and G. F. Swift, before the late 19th century, meat was a localized affair in
which few Americans participated. In order for local butchers to get their meat, shipments of live
cattle would come from the midwest. This was incredibly inefficient, as not all of the cow was edible.
The cost of shipping was high, so the butcher would have to charge a pretty penny for the final cut of
meat. Due to both the cost and lack of advertisement of beef, public interest in meat was low.
In comes Gustavus Franklin Swift, an entrepreneur who realized the potential in meat packing, and
helped fund the invention of the refrigerated rail cart. This technological wonder allowed cattle to be
butchered first, and then have the meat shipped over long distances. This eliminated any unnecessary
waste from being shipped, which meant money was saved and the company could charge consumers
less than local butchers. In 1880, Swift had one cattle supplier, one

AVID Socratic Seminar
In the module for week two there were several ideas that you can implement in your classroom. For
instance you could try the walk and talk discussion strategy. This strategy simply means that the
students read a selected piece of literature and have a small group discussion about teacher created
topics posted around the room. The resources/idea for this strategy includes identifying main ideas and
develop 4 5 questions pertaining to the ideas. Afterword s you type up questions to be printed out and
placed around the room. You then should secure large sheets of butcher paper or whiteboard space for
the students to write down the groups ideas, once this task is completed make sure you have supplied
each group with dry erase or regular felt tip pens. Aside from this wonderful strategy there was
another traffic strategy that was discussed it was the 4 2 1 method. Students generate four big ideas
from the text. Students then pair with someone else and share their four big ideas. After sharing their
ideas, they must decide which ones from their lists are the 2 big ideas. That pair then pairs up with

The Lifestyle change Program
The Program
Prior to commencing the Lifestyle Change Program the client must be educated in areas of her
lifestyle, which will be addressed over the course of the 4 week program. The initial assessment
highlights areas of weakness in the client; results indicate that the client currently falls below average
in some physical aspects when compared to normative values of her age category. Areas that will be
specifically targeted in the program include aerobic fitness and strength, dietary intake requirements
and lifestyle changes.
The client must be educated on the concept and the benefits associated with increasing aerobic
capacity and also increasing muscle strength, not only of the upper body but all major muscle groups.
In addition to educating the client on the benefits of increasing physical activity the client must be
made aware of the consequences associated with sedentary behavior and thus the emphasis of lifestyle
changes must be made. Dietary intake is another major area of the client s lifestyle that must be
addressed for the client s educational purposes. By educating the client in areas that will be addressed
this will aid the client in accepting the idea that areas in her lifestyle must be altered to enhance her
quality of life. Not only will education paired with alterations to the client s lifestyle enhance the
client s quality of life, it will also increase the chances and likelihood of her committing to the
program in the long term and post program.

A Look Now At China
Look now at China. The earliest inscriptions we have unearthed are dated at 1400 B.C., and the use of
these inscriptions was, once again, for religious use. As in other cultures, this required a magician , or
a priest. The priest would heat an ox scapula or a tortoise shell until it cracks, and would then attempt
to read the cracks in order to answer a question. This reading often involved the priest carving the
answers into the bone under the guise of creating clarity (Lyons, 18). However fraudulent their
practices were, these priests had a huge influence on Chinese writing. The questions the priest s client
had would be written from top to bottom on the bone, and this is still the traditional direction of
Chinese script. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One con of using silk was its expense. Throughout the early world and the Middle Ages, silk was a
very time consuming product to produce. As a result, it could be sold for a higher cost, and the method
of producing it was, like the secret of producing papyrus, jealously guarded by the silk growers.
Another consequence of silk s value was that when scribes wanted to write important texts, they
would often need to write a rough draft on a jiandu strip before copying the perfected version onto the
silk. In about 104 A.D., a eunuch of the Chinese imperial court, named Cai Lun, changed the course of
writing s history by making the first sheet of paper (The Invention of Paper). To do this, he mixed
bamboo fibers and the inner bark of a mulberry tree with water, and then dried the pulp on a cloth
screen. With paper, writing became easier, more transportable, and, in general, less expensive.
Eventually, the technique for making paper spread to Korea, and from there some monks took the
process to Japan. Paper spread to Africa and Europe through the Arabs, who went on raids in China
and captured many Chinese soldiers and craftsmen. Before this happened, however, the Greeks and
Romans had to be crafty in finding new writing resources. The Romans, though they couldn t make
their own paper yet, had animal skins. Through this, they discovered that animal skins could be

However, it is the leagues duty to care for its athletes. The assumption of risk could also become a
defense for the league. The NFL players knew that football presented risks to their safety. Football is a
contact sport and several risk factors are involved in the game (Hanna, 2010).
In relation to concussions, the NFL players have to be knowledgeable of all the risks involved.
Because they were not fully made aware of the risks of concussion, because of lack of information,
assumption of risk does not apply. The athletes are however, partially to blame for contributing to their
injuries. Of the 160 athletes surveyed, 30 admitted they had failed to report a concussion. Failure to
report led players to return to action to soon (Hanna, 2010).
The league is still cautious in accepting the risks of concussions, but has slowly implemented new rule
changes to the league in response to concussion management. Rules that dealt with concussion
management were not subject to penalties for years. Eventually penalties were also induced. The first
rules regarding helmet to helmet contact were not implemented until the late 1990s. Before these rules
were introduced coaches and athletes encouraged the contact and ignored the effects such hits had on
athletes. Today more changes are taking place including new helmet designs. These designs are meant
to protect the head more. However, concussions effect the brain and helmets protect the

Galilee. It takes place after Jesus had been baptized by John the Baptist. This is the longest teaching

Hemodialysis
Dialysis
The kidneys are important organ in the body. It helps regulate extracellular fluid and excrete waste
products from the body. The kidneys also function to control blood pressure, produce erythropoietin,
activate vitamin D, and regulate acid base balance. When the kidneys fail to function, or work as they
should, dialysis is needed. Dialysis restores internal homeostasis by osmosis, diffusion, and
ultrafiltration. It can sustain life for people who have acute and chronic renal failure. There are two
different types of dialysis, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Hemodialysis is a dialysis that uses an
artificial membrane as the semipermeable membrane through which the patient s blood circulates. The
access for hemodialysis is accomplished by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Depending on the dialysis treatment used, protein and other essential electrolytes are either removed
or retained. It is essential to monitor laboratory values and to perform proper assessments to assure the
patient is receiving the best care possible. Peritoneal dialysis tends to extract protein. Knowing this, a
patient who is on peritoneal dialysis would be on a high protein diet to compensate for this loss.
Potassium is usually individualized depending on laboratory values and the extent of the disease. A
patient undergoing hemodialysis should maintain a daily allowance intake of two to three grams per
day, whereas a patient using peritoneal dialysis is not restricted of potassium. Sodium level should be
maintained and monitored throughout dialysis. While sodium intake is individualized, considerations
must be taken to limit high sodium diets such as processed foods, canned foods, and cured meats.
When the kidney function deteriorates, phosphorus is retained causing hyperphosphatemia. Since
phosphate is found in many protein food sources, phosphate binders are essential to control

Types of Probability and Economic Models Essay
Many events can t be predicted with total certainty. The best we can do is say how likely they are to
happen, using the idea of probability. Probability theory is the branch of mathematics concerned with
probability, the analysis of random phenomena. Probability is indeed used in real life, especially in the
field of economics. Economists proceed to model the behavior of economic agents by assuming that
these agents form probability estimates. However, there is an interesting division between economists
who tend to treat these probability estimates as subjective and those who treat them as objective.
In order to get a clear understanding of how probability plays a role in economics, we must first
identity objective probability and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A very important idea that is often ignored by people engaging is such objective and subjective
probability is the evaluation of Objective and Subjective Probability. People don t always evaluate
uncertain events by applying the laws of probability. An example of that is investing in the stock
market. Investors often have an exaggerated belief that stock markets will to rise or fall, or that real
estate prices will rise, despite the objective and subjective probabilities that this belief is highly
unlikely to be true.
In order to clearly understand how probability plays into economics and how it plays a major role in
our everyday life, I have chosen to use an objective approach to probability. I have to chosen to create
a Macroeconomic model that allows one to predict trends in average world income growth that accord
well with observation. Such economic model is objective because all predictions and assumptions will
be solely based on previous economic data and statistics not taking into account any personal
judgments. In order to be able to come up with such complicated economic model, I will be utilizing
my mathematical skills gained through my IB math class. I will also heavily rely on my economics
knowledge and economics analytical skills. I will also use Tamura (1996) model of world income
dynamics for reference.
To come up with an economic model that predicts average world income growth, given that the world

Supernatural Events In Macbeth Research Paper
Sydney Reynolds
Smith
AP Lang
3/31/15
Supernatural Events in Macbeth William Shakespeare had a common theme of supernatural events
and attributes in his plays. This continues in his famous play, Macbeth, where there are four main
supernatural events that incite the plot of the play. These metaphysical components add drama and
excitement to the play and are the catalysts to Macbeth s tragic hero downfall. The encountering of the
witches, the imaginary dagger, Banquo s ghost, and the apparitions all added dramatic elements to the
play including foreshadowing, suspense, subconscious thoughts, and plot stimulants. Through the
combination of unearthly phenomenon s and mundane characters, Shakespeare creates an imaginative
plot that establishes character s true thoughts and causes the characters to act on ideas brought upon by
these supernatural projections. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are the evil spirits that initially bring out the evil in Macbeth when he is at his highest point in
his career. He has just slain several traitors in the civilization and is well respected by King Duncan
and his fellow noblemen. The witches impose what they call Macbeth s fate on Macbeth and he whole
heartedly trusts and believes them. The prophesies are presented in a way of greeting Macbeth with,
Hail to thee, thane of Glamis! Hail to thee, thane of Cawdor! and All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king
hereafter! (1.3.49 51) Since shortly after these proclamations, Macbeth actually was presented with
the title of Thane of Cawdor, he feels he has reason to trust what these supernatural sisters are telling
him. Each of the prophesies the witches make foreshadow the events in future scenes in the play that
either naturally happen, like in the case of Thane of Glamis and Thane of Cawdor, or Macbeth

Horse Digestion System Research Paper
The Equine Digestion System
By Alexine Liddle
The digestion system of a horse has a complex and marvelous design. It is also a delicate process. The
horse digests food in an efficient manner, but the system can be upset very easily if the animal does
not eat properly. Because of its delicate design, the system must be given the proper types of feed to
prevent illness. From mouth to manure, digestion breaks a horse s food down into the nutrients
necessary to sustain life. The process of digestion begins at the mouth. Horses have very mobile lips
with which they grasp their feed. Food goes from the lips to the teeth. Male horses have around 44
teeth and females can have from 36 to 44. The horse uses its incisor teeth to cut the grass ... Show

The pharynx is the meeting place for the digestive and respiratory systems. It is there that the trachea
goes to the lungs and the esophagus goes to the stomach. The pharynx prevents horses from being able
to vomit or breathe from their mouths. The esophagus is a 5 foot long tube filled with muscles that
squeezes the food down to the stomach. The wave motion that transports the food only moves down,
which is another reason that the food cannot come back up. The horse s stomach is very small in
comparison to the rest of the system, making up about 10% of it. Food can pass through in as little as
15 minutes. The three main areas of the stomach are the saccus caecus (sack us seek us), fundic, and
pyloric regions. The esophagus dumps the food into the saccus caecus region, where it is mixed with
hydrochloric acid, which slows the fermentation process. If the food ferments, it creates gas, and
horses have very few ways to get rid of gas. In the fundic region, the fermentation decreases even
further and the food mixes with pepsin and stomach acid, which begin the digestion of proteins and
fats. In the pyloric region, protein digestion increases and fermentation stops almost

Movie Pass Papers
The Movie Pass program was first brought to my attention by my daughter. She told me it was
something that her father and I might want to check out. We do enjoy going to the movies, so I took
her advice. I did some online research and found that the Movie Pass Company was founded in 2011.
Apparently, it has been around for a while, so I was surprised I had not heard of this service before. I
read some reviews about the program and I found a mixed bag of reviews. Some individuals have
found Movie pass to be an inexpensive way to see movies while others had complaints about the
service. The complaints were from people who claimed they had never received their passes or they
had problems using the pass once they arrived at the theater. Being an optimist, I decided to take a
gamble and go with the positive reviews. I went to their website and ordered two ... Show more

To start using the passes I had to download the movie pass app onto our phones. A couple of days later
we decided to go see a movie at our local movie theater. When we arrived there I discovered the
movie pass app on my phone would not display the location of the theater, so I could not check in.
Feeling frustrated and no longer in the mood to see a show we headed home. I started thinking maybe
the naysayers were right and this deal was too good to be true. On the drive home, my daughter called
to see how we enjoyed the movie. I told her about the problem I had encountered while trying to use
the pass. After some thought my tech savvy daughter asked me if the location device on my phone was
turned on. Upon checking my phone I found my location app was turned off, so I promptly turned it
on. Still feeling a little apprehensive we went to the theater the next day to try again. To my relief, we
did not encounter any problems. We attended an afternoon show which cost around nine dollars a
ticket. This meant our movie passes had just about paid for

Masstige Brand Positioning
OBJECTIVE:
The objective of this study is to verify the positioning of the new luxury brands in relation to
traditional luxury brands and middle range brands, and to draw implications for both academics and
practitioners. In other words, to show that in terms of perceived prestige new luxury brands are
substantially closer to traditional prestige brands than middle range brands. In terms of price, however,
they are substantially closer to middle range brands than traditional luxury brands.

A masstige positioning strategy is viewed as very innovative and effective because it combines a

In the case of Pond s, the attempt is to elevate the ubiquitous brand from talc and powder to a
premium skin care brand.
Thus, Pond s is being positioned across platforms such as anti ageing, skin lightening lotion and also
day cream, with a slight premium on price. The price points range from Rs 50 to Rs 650. It s
expensive yet not unaffordable. Suddenly, from a simple cold cream, Pond s is on a range of platforms
reaching the target audience across different formats. We want Pond s to be the face care expert and
we can t do that if we are at the bottom of the pile, Paranjpe explains. Similarly, Lakme was always
considered a premium brand and in the last 12 months, efforts are on to significantly upgrade the way
it is perceived by the masstige audience.
Nowhere is the phenomenon more visible than in consumer durables and mobile handsets. Masstige is
a differentiated strategy across various product lines, explains Ravinder Zutshi, deputy MD, and
Samsung India. Zutshi s betting big on the LCD market which will show exponential growth in time
to come. He estimates the market to be around 150,000 units this year, which will jump to 400,000
units by 2007. This is in line with the global market, which has risen to 40 million units this year, from
20 million last year, he says.

Muniba Mazari Speech Analysis
Muniba Mazari s speech is very emotionally powerful. It reminded me of a bumper sticker with the
quote well behaved women seldom make history that I saw a few days ago on a car. In both of these
cases, the concept of conforming to the traditional conventions of femininity is strongly discouraged.
Mazari, for instance, was astonishingly able to muster the strength to change from being a passive and
compliant female to the strong, independent woman she is today. As a result, despite having
experienced a horrendous car accident that completely altered her life, she overcame her new
disabilities and even bettered her life. Muniba Mazari would have continued to be stuck inside an
unhappy marriage, however, if she never decided to command greater

The Life and Mission of David Livingstone
David Livingstone s life began on March 19th, 1813, in the town of Blantyre, South Lanarkshire,
Scotland. He had six siblings. David could recite Psalm 119, at the age of 9. At the age of 10, David
began to be employed at the cotton mill of H. Monteith and Co, where he worked 12 to 14 hour days,
6 days a week, as a piecer, with his older brother John. A piecer is a young child that crawls through
the giant looms, to watch for broken threads. When the threads break, it is their job to quickly tie them
back together. Around the time David began working, a law was passed requiring factories and mills
to teach children that were 12 and under. However, the law sadly did not state when they had to hold
classes, so more often than not the business owner would supply classes from 8 to 10 P.M, after the
children had already worked their shifts. Many children did not take advantage of the free classes, but
David did. He would force himself to stay awake and focus, just so that he could learn. Two years
later, plants and herbs caught David s interest. He owned a botany book, which he studied with care,
even though his father would not of allowed it because it was science. At this time in the world, people
believed that science and Christianity could not go together because that would be questioning why
God made things the way He made them. However, David studied science anyway. There came a time
in his life that he had a choice to make. Science or Religion. He had to

  • 2. World Need Adoption Adoption: A Needed Action in the World I always questioned if I was ready to adopt and then I realized no child was ready to be an orphan, said unknown author. There are children who are without a home or family. Their parents are deceased or have chosen to abandon them. They have to defend life themselves. Children die because they are hungry and do not have a source of food supply. The problem, however, has a solution. Adoption provides homes and families for the children. It also provides a child to a family that could not have one themselves. Adoption is a needed action in the world because it saves lives, provides homes, and creates opportunities for the children. First, the world needs adoption because it saves an abundant amount of children s lives. In some countries, mothers are allowed to only have one child or a certain gender. Mothers will abandon the child to escape the cruel punishment. The children are left to defend for themselves. Children make up half of the people living in poverty ... A home that will provide food so they do not have to worry about starving anymore. A home that will, hopefully, share the love of Jesus. A home that will be filled with laughter and fun. • 5. Interval Training Versus Aerobic Exercise Analysis Interval training and continuous aerobic exercise are two of the most common cardio exercises practiced by athletes today. However, one is slightly better than the other when looking at performance increases. An easy way to measure performance increases is to examine the VO2 max of an individual before and after a training period. VO2 max is the measure of how much oxygen a body can take in from the air. It is a great reflection of physical fitness because it reflects how efficiently a person can use oxygen which is needed for most exercises, especially cardio. Interval training is when a person switches between two activities that vary in intensity or effort. Continuous aerobic exercise is when a person performs an activity at the same intensity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anaerobic energy is energy that is produced in the absence of oxygen. On the other hand, aerobic energy is energy that is produced in the presence of oxygen. The difference in energy pathway may explain the difference in VO2 increases between interval training and continuous aerobic exercise. Many people struggle to incorporate cardio into their workout routine because they think they must run endless miles to see results. This excuse is invalid because interval training can provide just as many health benefits, if not more, than continuous aerobic exercise. Even though interval training has been shown to improve performance in many people, a blend of interval training and continuous aerobic exercise that is designed for an individual s goals is the best approach to implement cardio. Interval training results in greater performance increases and more motivation to exercise than continuous aerobic training in many types of people, including well trained athletes, diabetics, children, and people with Down syndrome. However, the most important thing is for people to incorporate cardio into their exercise ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of her purposes in writing the novel is to expose the hypocrisy of society. One example of this theme occurs when Rezia and Septimus attempt to settle down in the park. When the airplane soars overhead, she writes, Tears ran down his cheeks (Woolf 21). While one may mistake this as joy or, at worst, sorrow over the recent war, Woolf gives the reality of the action beneath the surface, stating, They are signaling to me... this exquisite beauty... but he would not go mad. An ordinary incandescent light bulb uses up 90% of energy it consumes as heat. Also, they last about 900 hours. The LED lasts about 25,000 hours, which is equivalent to 22 years. This is a major difference. Origins of the Technology: In 1962, Nick Holonyak Jr. invented the first light emitting diode, also known as the LED light bulb. He was a general Electric researcher. Some of the first work done on LEDs was at Bell Labs in the 1950 s. GE scientists were experimenting with many different chemicals. Researchers decided to coat the blue LEDs with phosphor (a fluorescent fluid) to make the blue LEDs look white. All of this allowed LEDs to be used in traffic lights, flashlights, and TVs. LED bulbs are more efficient than regular bulbs. A regular CFL light bulbs costs about $5, while an LED can vary from $15 $40. LEDs are more expensive because their efficiency is better than an ordinary bulb. Regular light bulbs do a terrible job of converting energy to light. This causes the majority of the energy in the light bulb to be wasted as heat energy. The bad thing about LEDs is that they are more expensive than regular bulbs. This is very negative because today people may not want to spend their money on something like this. How it Works: The first part of a light emitting diode (LED) is the diode. A diode is an electric component that has two electrodes that are called the anode and the cathode. The diode is the simplest type of a semi conductor. A semi conductor is a solid chemical element that can conduct electricity. Most semiconductors are made with damaged conductors that have impurities added to them. This is called doping. The impurities can be atoms from another material. In pure aluminum gallium arsenide, all of the atoms bond perfectly to their neighbors, leaving no free electrons (negatively charged particles) to conduct electric current. ... West Stow is an area in Britain located within modern day Suffolk, which through the mid 5th century to early 7th century CE, housed a small Anglo Saxon village. The setting for the formation of West Stow, and for Anglo Saxon Britain in general, begins around 407 CE with the exit of Roman troops from Britain. In this paper, I will provide an overview of the circumstances that led to the Angles and the Saxons invading/migrating to Britain, what they built in West Stow, and whether/how we know what we do about this time period from archaeological findings, or from primary text sources. One of the big things from a cultural standpoint is the approximate social order of the Anglo Saxons, as determined from references to various laws regarding them in the Salic Law. At the top of the order were the Kings in the various kingdoms within Britain, under them were freemen in the king s service, clergy, regular freemen, freedmen (Freed slaves), and at the bottom, slaves. These texts also give us some idea of the economy and currency, especially when mentioned in relation to various fines, as evidenced here; ...if any one be summoned before the court by the king s law and does not come, he shall be sentenced to 600 denarii, which make 15 solidi. , and other such laws from the text. A good portion of our historical evidence also comes from archaeological excavation of various sites in West Stow. One of the most significant archaeological locations has been Sutton Hoo, grave mounds dating back to the 6th and early 7th centuries. It contains 17 different burial mounds, the most notable of which (Mound 1) contained an undisturbed ship burial containing art, jewelry, weapons, armor, textiles, and fine clothing/accessories. It s clear from the richness of the burial that whoever was buried there was royal and extremely wealthy, there is no direct evidence of this, but one theory is that it could be Rædwald s (an extremely powerful King in the era that Sutton Hoo was being used in, Bede writes that he was the fourth ... The Crucial Role Of Feminism In Mainstream Media The mainstream media, such as national news broadcasting stations, magazines, and social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, play a crucial role in the promotion and encouragement of feminism. On the other hand, equity is defined as, justice according to natural law or right; specifically: freedom from bias or favoritism; dealing fairly and equally with all concerned, ( Equity np). Most feminists, without even realizing their error, are fighting for equity instead of fighting for equality. With reference to the SGBA e Learning Resource: Rising to the Challenge, we can understand a direct distinction between equality and equity. Equity, as we have seen, involves trying to understand and give people what they need to enjoy full, healthy lives, (Clow np). From context, the term equity should be associated with giving people what they need for a happy lifestyle. Equality, in contrast, aims to ensure that everyone gets the same things in order to enjoy full, healthy lives. Like equity, equality aims to promote fairness and justice, but it can only work if everyone starts from the same place and needs the same things, (Clow np). It is impossible to provide everyone in the world, male and female, the same circumstances. This has become a challenge for those who associate themselves with finding equality for all. It is physical impossible because we are born in different circumstances, with incomparable talents and strengths. Barbara Clow, Yvonne Hanson, and Jennifer Bernier, authors of the module Distinguish between Equality and Equity, prove an important point as they contrast equality and equity. They use an analogy of the failure of providing equality to competitors in a race at a track meet. The concept of equality would have us treat the runners in exactly the same way, ensuring that they all start at the same place on the track. But we know that runners in the inside ... Without honorable men, the world would overflow with corrupt people. The Tragedy of Julius Caesar has both honorable and corrupt men within the play. In my opinion, Artemidorus is the most honorable man is the play, whereas Pindarus is the most corrupt man in the play. To begin with, an honorable person is someone who can be trusted and are highly respected by everyone. Honorable do the right thing even if it s the hardest thing to do. Artemidorus is one of the most forgotten characters in the play, but plays a significant role. Artemidorus is the most honorable man in the play. Artemidorus writes a letter to Julius Caesar telling him about the conspiracy and names all the conspirators. By doing this he is risking his life to protect the life of Julius Caesar, because he is a devoted friend. Artemidorus then proceeds to go out and wait for Caesar to pass by to give him the letter on his way to the Senate to be pronounced King. This shows that no matter what the cost is, Artemidorus stands up for what he believes in and has the best intentions in mind. In these communities, there are many sectors that have been built, but the main reason many are making it or able to afford and do what they are currently doing is through the help of the various communities and organizations that came about. First, let s consider Gustavus Swift and his meat packing company, and how everything from the invention of the refrigerated rail cart, to becoming one of the first companies to utilize vertical integration exemplifies communication revolution. As Professor Gary Fields explains in an essay about communication and G. F. Swift, before the late 19th century, meat was a localized affair in which few Americans participated. In order for local butchers to get their meat, shipments of live cattle would come from the midwest. This was incredibly inefficient, as not all of the cow was edible. The cost of shipping was high, so the butcher would have to charge a pretty penny for the final cut of meat. Due to both the cost and lack of advertisement of beef, public interest in meat was low. In comes Gustavus Franklin Swift, an entrepreneur who realized the potential in meat packing, and helped fund the invention of the refrigerated rail cart. This technological wonder allowed cattle to be butchered first, and then have the meat shipped over long distances. This eliminated any unnecessary waste from being shipped, which meant money was saved and the company could charge consumers less than local butchers. In 1880, Swift had one cattle supplier, one ... As a result, it could be sold for a higher cost, and the method of producing it was, like the secret of producing papyrus, jealously guarded by the silk growers. Another consequence of silk s value was that when scribes wanted to write important texts, they would often need to write a rough draft on a jiandu strip before copying the perfected version onto the silk. In about 104 A.D., a eunuch of the Chinese imperial court, named Cai Lun, changed the course of writing s history by making the first sheet of paper (The Invention of Paper). Football is a contact sport and several risk factors are involved in the game (Hanna, 2010). In relation to concussions, the NFL players have to be knowledgeable of all the risks involved. Because they were not fully made aware of the risks of concussion, because of lack of information, assumption of risk does not apply. The athletes are however, partially to blame for contributing to their injuries. Of the 160 athletes surveyed, 30 admitted they had failed to report a concussion. Failure to report led players to return to action to soon (Hanna, 2010). The league is still cautious in accepting the risks of concussions, but has slowly implemented new rule changes to the league in response to concussion management. Rules that dealt with concussion management were not subject to penalties for years. Eventually penalties were also induced. The first rules regarding helmet to helmet contact were not implemented until the late 1990s. Before these rules were introduced coaches and athletes encouraged the contact and ignored the effects such hits had on athletes. Today more changes are taking place including new helmet designs. These designs are meant to protect the head more. However, concussions effect the brain and helmets protect the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Hemodialysis Dialysis The kidneys are important organ in the body. It helps regulate extracellular fluid and excrete waste products from the body. The kidneys also function to control blood pressure, produce erythropoietin, activate vitamin D, and regulate acid base balance. When the kidneys fail to function, or work as they should, dialysis is needed. Dialysis restores internal homeostasis by osmosis, diffusion, and ultrafiltration. It can sustain life for people who have acute and chronic renal failure. There are two different types of dialysis, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Hemodialysis is a dialysis that uses an artificial membrane as the semipermeable membrane through which the patient s blood circulates. The access for hemodialysis is accomplished by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Depending on the dialysis treatment used, protein and other essential electrolytes are either removed or retained. It is essential to monitor laboratory values and to perform proper assessments to assure the patient is receiving the best care possible. Peritoneal dialysis tends to extract protein. Knowing this, a patient who is on peritoneal dialysis would be on a high protein diet to compensate for this loss. Potassium is usually individualized depending on laboratory values and the extent of the disease. A patient undergoing hemodialysis should maintain a daily allowance intake of two to three grams per day, whereas a patient using peritoneal dialysis is not restricted of potassium. Sodium level should be maintained and monitored throughout dialysis. While sodium intake is individualized, considerations must be taken to limit high sodium diets such as processed foods, canned foods, and cured meats. When the kidney function deteriorates, phosphorus is retained causing hyperphosphatemia. Since phosphate is found in many protein food sources, phosphate binders are essential to control ... • 43. Types of Probability and Economic Models Essay Many events can t be predicted with total certainty. The best we can do is say how likely they are to happen, using the idea of probability. Probability theory is the branch of mathematics concerned with probability, the analysis of random phenomena. Probability is indeed used in real life, especially in the field of economics. Economists proceed to model the behavior of economic agents by assuming that these agents form probability estimates. However, there is an interesting division between economists who tend to treat these probability estimates as subjective and those who treat them as objective. In order to get a clear understanding of how probability plays a role in economics, we must first identity objective probability and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A very important idea that is often ignored by people engaging is such objective and subjective probability is the evaluation of Objective and Subjective Probability. People don t always evaluate uncertain events by applying the laws of probability. An example of that is investing in the stock market. Investors often have an exaggerated belief that stock markets will to rise or fall, or that real estate prices will rise, despite the objective and subjective probabilities that this belief is highly unlikely to be true. In order to clearly understand how probability plays into economics and how it plays a major role in our everyday life, I have chosen to use an objective approach to probability. I have to chosen to create a Macroeconomic model that allows one to predict trends in average world income growth that accord well with observation. Such economic model is objective because all predictions and assumptions will be solely based on previous economic data and statistics not taking into account any personal judgments. In order to be able to come up with such complicated economic model, I will be utilizing my mathematical skills gained through my IB math class. I will also heavily rely on my economics knowledge and economics analytical skills. I will also use Tamura (1996) model of world income dynamics for reference. To come up with an economic model that predicts average world income growth, given that the world has many countries with varying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Supernatural Events In Macbeth Research Paper Sydney Reynolds Smith AP Lang 3/31/15 Supernatural Events in Macbeth William Shakespeare had a common theme of supernatural events and attributes in his plays. This continues in his famous play, Macbeth, where there are four main supernatural events that incite the plot of the play. These metaphysical components add drama and excitement to the play and are the catalysts to Macbeth s tragic hero downfall. The encountering of the witches, the imaginary dagger, Banquo s ghost, and the apparitions all added dramatic elements to the play including foreshadowing, suspense, subconscious thoughts, and plot stimulants. Through the combination of unearthly phenomenon s and mundane characters, Shakespeare creates an imaginative plot that establishes character s true thoughts and causes the characters to act on ideas brought upon by these supernatural projections. • 45. Horse Digestion System Research Paper The Equine Digestion System By Alexine Liddle The digestion system of a horse has a complex and marvelous design. It is also a delicate process. The horse digests food in an efficient manner, but the system can be upset very easily if the animal does not eat properly. Because of its delicate design, the system must be given the proper types of feed to prevent illness. From mouth to manure, digestion breaks a horse s food down into the nutrients necessary to sustain life. The process of digestion begins at the mouth. Horses have very mobile lips with which they grasp their feed. Food goes from the lips to the teeth. Male horses have around 44 teeth and females can have from 36 to 44. It is there that the trachea goes to the lungs and the esophagus goes to the stomach. The pharynx prevents horses from being able to vomit or breathe from their mouths. The esophagus is a 5 foot long tube filled with muscles that squeezes the food down to the stomach. The wave motion that transports the food only moves down, which is another reason that the food cannot come back up. The horse s stomach is very small in comparison to the rest of the system, making up about 10% of it. Food can pass through in as little as 15 minutes. The three main areas of the stomach are the saccus caecus (sack us seek us), fundic, and pyloric regions. The esophagus dumps the food into the saccus caecus region, where it is mixed with hydrochloric acid, which slows the fermentation process. If the food ferments, it creates gas, and horses have very few ways to get rid of gas. In the fundic region, the fermentation decreases even further and the food mixes with pepsin and stomach acid, which begin the digestion of proteins and fats. In the pyloric region, protein digestion increases and fermentation stops almost ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We do enjoy going to the movies, so I took her advice. I did some online research and found that the Movie Pass Company was founded in 2011. Apparently, it has been around for a while, so I was surprised I had not heard of this service before. I read some reviews about the program and I found a mixed bag of reviews. Some individuals have found Movie pass to be an inexpensive way to see movies while others had complaints about the service. The complaints were from people who claimed they had never received their passes or they had problems using the pass once they arrived at the theater. Feeling frustrated and no longer in the mood to see a show we headed home. I started thinking maybe the naysayers were right and this deal was too good to be true. On the drive home, my daughter called to see how we enjoyed the movie. I told her about the problem I had encountered while trying to use the pass. After some thought my tech savvy daughter asked me if the location device on my phone was turned on. Upon checking my phone I found my location app was turned off, so I promptly turned it on. It reminded me of a bumper sticker with the quote well behaved women seldom make history that I saw a few days ago on a car. In both of these cases, the concept of conforming to the traditional conventions of femininity is strongly discouraged. Mazari, for instance, was astonishingly able to muster the strength to change from being a passive and compliant female to the strong, independent woman she is today. • 49. The Life and Mission of David Livingstone David Livingstone s life began on March 19th, 1813, in the town of Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. He had six siblings. David could recite Psalm 119, at the age of 9. At the age of 10, David began to be employed at the cotton mill of H. Monteith and Co, where he worked 12 to 14 hour days, 6 days a week, as a piecer, with his older brother John. A piecer is a young child that crawls through the giant looms, to watch for broken threads. When the threads break, it is their job to quickly tie them back together. Around the time David began working, a law was passed requiring factories and mills to teach children that were 12 and under. However, the law sadly did not state when they had to hold classes, so more often than not the business owner would supply classes from 8 to 10 P.M, after the children had already worked their shifts. Many children did not take advantage of the free classes, but David did. He would force himself to stay awake and focus, just so that he could learn. Two years later, plants and herbs caught David s interest. He owned a botany book, which he studied with care, even though his father would not of allowed it because it was science. At this time in the world, people believed that science and Christianity could not go together because that would be questioning why God made things the way He made them. However, David studied science anyway. There came a time in his life that he had a choice to make. Science or Religion. He had to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
