Disclaimer
• This PPT is just an example and
things may or may not work as
mentioned. This PPT is intended
only to give an idea on how to get
through the IELTS (IDP –
academic module) based on my
personal experience with an
overall band score of 7 on 9. Hope
you will also get through it with a
similar score.
The start
• IELTS - International English
Language Testing System.
• Conducted by IDP and BC.
• Both are equally tough and easy.
• For higher education go for
academic module else general one.
• Divided into 4 modules.
1. Listening
2. Reading
3. Writing
4. Speaking (interview)
• 4 will be conducted at least a day
before or after 1,2,3.
Conducted at once
in the same order.
Takes around 2 hr
45 min.
LISTENING
•It has Four parts with
difficulty levels increasing
from part to part.
•Weight age for each part is
10 marks.
• Part – 1: very simple and basic. (often a
telephonic conversation asking about
personal details and stuff)
• Part – 2: a map or a picture will be
given. Listening to the speaker, you need
to either locate places in the map or
mark them A,B and so on based on the
description.
• Part – 3: a general discussion between 2
or 3 persons on a journal topic or on a
publication.
• Part – 4: speaker reads out a paragraph
from a journal. Words are almost
indirect. Very high attention is to be
paid!!
• The first and the Best module to score well
in the exam.
• For this, you will need a little bit of
practice.
• Try watching BBC news or even some
Hollywood films with subtitles to check if
you are able to understand the words and
slang properly.
• Practice the tests through all possible means
like – the IELTS practice material or online
sources.
• Try searching “IELTS listening test practice
” in Google or even in YouTube!!
• Remember!! You will be given 10 minutes
time to transfer your answers to the booklet
so, write down the answers there in the
question paper itself while listening module
is turned on.
READING
WRITING
SPEAKING
Vocabulary
• There are numerous practice tests available
online like : “Road to IELTS”
• You can also check YouTube for practice
sessions.
• Try searching “Engvid” in YouTube where
you can find ‘n’ no of lectures from
different persons.
• Try practicing speaking in front of a mirror
or your acquaintances.
• Don’t forget to practice “tell me about
yourself” which is solely in your hands and
will grab more marks for the vocabulary.
• Don’t stammer in between.
• Be confident and perform well.
• Try practicing listening, reading and writing
in one go.
• All the best!!
Thanks!!!
