Essay about Love in Valentine and The Flea
Love in Valentine and The Flea
Through a close analysis of language, structure and theme, compare and contrast the poets attitude
to love in Valentine and The Flea.
The poem The Flea is about a man trying to cunningly argue a woman into bed. John Donne s
The Flea was a metaphysical poem, written most probably, to entertain an audience of men; this
was called a coterie, which was a group of like minded individuals who cleverly wrote for each
other s amusement. This poem was written sometime in the 17th century where religion was
extremely important and sex before marriage frowned upon. The poet is exploring ideas and
feelings about lust and how unimportant losing virginity is, which a woman will obviously object to.

He is persistent in his argument and irritating, this portrays himself as a replicate of a flea, just
trying to get what he wants.
In the first stanza John Donne is narrating to the reader. The flea has sucked his blood and hers
and he is now using this flea as an example for his argument by saying:
Mark but this flea, and mark in this,
How little that which thou deniest me is;
He is also implying that virginity is small and insignificant. This will obviously offend the girl
because virginity is a very important gift that a woman has to bestow on a man. But the poet does
not seem to give up on this point.
The poet uses cunning phrases such as:
Thou know st that this cannot be said
A sin, nor shame, nor loss of maidenhead;
Which make me feel that he is lulling her into a sense of false security. This is a great technique to
win his argument.
At the end of stanza one, the poet becomes quite melodramatic:
Yet this enjoys before it woo,
And pamper d swells in one blood made of two;
And this, alas! is more than we would do.
Donne could be implying that the flea easily has enjoyment from sucking her blood and that he
himself has no pleasure from her. This might show he has an egotistical attitude towards women.
Donne s use of physical language such as suck d , blood and
swells implies his lustful desires and show the sensual undercurrents of the poem.

Music Piracy in the US
Counterfeit, piracy, bootleg, or stealing, these are some of the many terms associated with the
unauthorized dissemination and distribution of copyrighted music. For over five decades, the
music industry in the United States has had to grapple with the effects of such activity. The
Copyright Act of 1909 was the first granting exclusive rights to copyrighted music. The Berne
Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works was created in 1886 and governs
international copyrights. As technology evolved, the music industry was altered in profound ways.
Globalization has created a smaller world where information and goods are shared at a pace faster

This often times includes demos and discarded material. As society has progressed into the
computerized and digital zone, so have the ills of the world. Cyber bullying and theft are new
forms of the ancient art of school yard bullying and stealing. The only differences are the means
that are used. The concept is generally the same. As music players advanced from the old
Gramophone, to the record player, to the cassette tape, to the compact disc, and now any digital
format such as MP3, so did the means of copying. No longer is there a need to sneak around with
hulky recorders into performances. With the explosion of the internet, accessing music has
never been easier. Proof is the demise of the brick and mortar record store. They have become as
pre historic as dinosaurs. Even compact discs are gradually becoming antiquated. They occupy
space and require purchasing an entire album, which contains few songs that are pleasing to the
ear. Today, one can easily log onto the internet and easily download a song, or two, or thousands.
The digital format of music such as MP3 s allows for easy and light weight access to hundreds if
not thousands of songs on one small single device. Not to mention how easily one may transfer
these files from one electronic device to another.
In 1999 the online sharing program Napster debuted. The system is also known as peer to peer

Weaknesses:
Tulip s founders may lose sight of the potential scope of the business.
A limited number of consumers around UAE are aware of the Tulip brand.
The firm has limited cash flow.
Tulip relies on a single manufacturer which limits the production capacity if the firm wants to
expand.
Opportunities:
Tulip s loyal customers are likely to buy more products.
Gaps exist in the UAE market that can be filled with new products such as customized clothing
items and luggage.

Analysis Of The Article Gop Fox Circus Act By Reed...
In the article GOP Fox Circus Act , Reed Richardson argues that although both the GOP and Fox
have conservative political values, they are ultimately harmful to each other s agendas because
of their differing political goals. Both organizations are lacking popularity in recent years so
they are struggling to find new ways to gain an audience. The GOP wants to find a way to get
their ideas to a wide variety of people, whereas Fox is promoting more liberal views to increase
the ratings of their programs. On one hand, the GOP s reputation is hurt by the inaccuracy of Fox
s reporting. On the other hand, Fox is tied down by the conservative views of the GOP, thus
restraining Fox from gaining a larger audience. Journalist Reed Richardson wrote this article for
The National, a liberal newspaper, in 2013, so the events and issues that he is speaking of are still
relevant to this day. Due to the differences of political views between the author and the subject
matter, there is plenty of room for biased statements and opinions. Does Richardson provide enough
evidence of the harmful effects of the Fox and GOP relationship? Richardson clearly and
meticulously establishes the problems that both organizations face in the pursuit of their political
goals with the use of statistics, reliable sources, and thorough evaluation of events; however
Richardson constantly provides the reader with a biased argument when discussing the current state
of Fox. Richardson successfully portrays the

The Ten Plagues In The Book Of Exodus
Exodus, the second book of the New International Version of the Bible, begins with the end of
Joseph s generation. Exodus I:6, Now Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation died, but
the Israelites were fruitful and multiplied greatly and become exceedingly numerous so that the
land was filled with them. The new king of Egypt, who did not know Joseph, came into power. He
declared to his people that the Israeliteshad become too plentiful and would eventually join their
enemies in war, the king decided oppressive slave labor would keep their numbers slim. The
opposite proved true; the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread further

According to P, God was known to the patriarchs as El Shaddai, God Almighty (Gen 17:1, 35:11,
48:3) and only at Sinai revealed his true name, Yahweh. (JBC) The Ten Plagues occur from a
major battle between Yahweh and the Pharaoh for the service of the Hebrews . Service, in both
Hebr and Eng, means both work and worship. The redactor has skillfully arranged and
augmented old traditions about seven plagues (cf. the seven in Pss 78:43 51; 105:26 36 and the
fact that there are only seven plagues in J) into three triplets, and the climatic tenth plague is
outside the series. (JBC) As the Israelites are initially given consent to leave, the actual route they
took is discussed within the commentary, The best route for the people is not the Way of the
Philistines the most direct, but guided by the fortress at Zilu but rather a route through the
wilderness at the Sea of Reeds, a swampy area around Lake Balah. (JBC) The climactic battle in
which the Egyptian army comes after the Israelites and Moses parted the sea, is conceived by each
source differently. According to P, Moses divided the sea by the rod and Israel walked through
on dry land, the waters being a wall to their right and left. When Israel got to the other side, Moses
raised his hand and the walls of water crashed in on the Egyptian army, wiping them out. According
to J, Yahweh the storm god drove back the sea long enough for Israel to cross in the night and then
the sea returned to its wonted flow in the morning.

Why the Levi Advertisements Were Successful Essay
Why the Levi Advertisements Were Successful
Levi s began to manufacture jeans around the 1870s, and jeans were originally working men s
clothing. During the 1950s people aged 13 19 became known as teenagers, prior to this people
were all either children or adults. Jeans became popular clothes for teenagers because they were
seen as a sign of rebellion against parents and authority. The jeans wearing teenagers then grew up
and become parents meaning that the next generation of youngsters saw older people wearing the
jeans and refused to wear them. This forced jeans to become unfashionable throughout the early
80s. In the mid 80s Levi s hired a highly successful advertising company (Bartle Bogle ... Show

people would often sit in the bath to help mould the jeans to the shape of their bodies. As these

assume that the man was sitting in the bath to shrink his jeans to his body. In this advert the
image of a typical single male seems to be portrayed. The man is conventionally good looking,
with a good body, and we are led to believe that he is meeting a girl. This is how a lot of young
men at that time would wish to be, meaning that many viewers would believe wearing the jeans
would make them more good looking, and more likely to get a woman.

What Is The Synopsis Of Ang Tunay Na Ina
FILM ANALYSIS
Ang Tunay na Ina is a Filipino melodrama, directed and written by Octavio Silos. The major casts
of the film are Rosario Moreno as Magdalena, Rudy Concepcion as Roberto, Tita Duran as Tita,
Quiel Segovia as Antonio, Dona Luisa as Nati Rubi, Don Alberto as Precioso Palma, Naty
Bernardo as Aling Andang. This is one of the few films that survived from World War II. This is
also one of the films that they were able to restore.
The film focuses on how Magdalena is longing for her lost daughter. Her daughter is the only
reason why she felt incomplete and unhappy that is why she tried to find her. I believe, that is
what how a real mother will feel. As she finds her daughter, the film emphasized how she proved
that she is the real mother of Tita, not only by blood but also by heart. And as the title says, Ang
Tunay na Ina, it does not only define a real mother on its own by her responsibilities and actions
but also by the way she feels towards her children. Don Alberto and Dona Luisa was talking about
what to do with the baby of Magdalena as she was said to have a child without being married

Eyewitness Testimony Memory
In the late 19th century research on eyewitness, testimony memory began, psychologists had been
studying memory, and the findings became useful for forensic psychology and law. A central issue
with studying eyewitness memory and testimony is the ecological validity of lab studies. There are
relatively few real world eyewitness memorystudies, and that causes problems for determining the
generalizability of findings in eyewitness memory. Coined by Wells (1978) estimator variables are
present at the time of a crimeand cannot be changed (i.e. witness characteristics and the type of
offence) and system variables are factors that can be manipulated to affect eyewitness accuracy (i.e.
line up procedures and interview types). The system variables... Show more content on

Biggers (1972) instructions were given to the jury that said witness confidence should be used to
assess witness accuracy. This statement was highly controversial at the time because there was only
a minor positive correlation between confidence and accuracy far from enough to say it was a
significant correlation. The U.S. Supreme Court outlined five criteria that should be used in the
future for evaluating the accuracy of eyewitness testimony. Preferable methods for evaluating the
accuracy include assessing the suggestiveness of the identification procedure, assessing the
instructions given to the witness, examine the structure of the photo or live lineup and ensure there
was no suggestibility or coercive methods. One criticism of the Biggers criteria is the lack of
system variables. Most variables within the Biggers criteria are estimator variables; which the
justice system has no control over. To reduce some of the problems that have been found with
eyewitness memory and testimony, I recommend not mistaking confidence for memory accuracy
and using multiple techniques and interviewing models to develop more accurate and consistent
information (i.e. using the cognitive enhanced interview model and combined with the Reid model
or other models). Also, courts and jurors need to test/check for suggestibility and coercive interview
or investigative practices before trials

Some data is very sensitive and therefore it has to be hidden away from parties who are not

information may be exploited by other parties to gain access to confidential and potentially
dangerous data. Therefore, measures have been taken to ensure that data is not accessed by others
which is done by using several methods which, besides physical security, includes the use of
encryption algorithms which are programs that change the way information looks by rendering it
illegible.
Data encryption is an important part of computing and, if done properly, can provide the user with

This complex procedure ensures that the data is safe from being accessed by other parties[4].
Therefore, the key is an important component of the data encryption process since it is the one that
makes the data into a unique cipher text that cannot be accessed by other individuals and it is also
applied while decrypting the data. The key in computers is measured in bits and if an individual
knows the algorithm but does not know the key, the data cannot be accessed algorithmically since
the key is a major component to its being decrypted.
The most common method for breaking a cipher is through brute force attack where the possible
combinations of the key are guessed and applied until the right combination is arrived at.
Therefore, the longer the key the harder it would be to crack the code.
The personal involvement of Janet as shown by the message which asks her to personally transfer
money to her own bank account is suspect. This is in view of the fact that Janet knows the key to
Susan s account and could have used it to transfer the money to her own account. Therefore, the
bank could be using the private key encryption system in which the key is known to the business in
this case Janet and to the customer Susan. The fact that 3DES requires that one knows the key to
access information may be the clue to unraveling the truth. Since Janet is supposed to have the key

Eventually they obtained an address where some of the biofuel production was occurring but when
they arrived at the site all they found was a couple of empty containers.
In May 2011 Judge Beth P issued several warrants and seizures warrants for Hailey s home, office,
bank account and other valuable items in possession because of RIN sales. Internal Revenue

Hailey and informed him that a suspicious person had been sighted on his property and if the

Hailey was eventually sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for selling false RIN and pocketing

from Holland to America in 1650. As well being one of the oldest families in America, the
Vanderbilts were also one of the wealthiest. They obtained their wealth originally through a

Discuss the key characteristics for the operation of an effective corporate whistleblower hotline. Be
sure to highlight potential pitfalls that should be avoided. After online research, key characteristics
for the operation of an effective corporate whistleblower hotline identified include:
Independence: The whistleblower operator should be an independent party from the organization.
Multiple Access Platforms There should be multiple ways for individuals to report their claims so
that they can easily submit claims.
Availability Many hotlines are available 24/7 to allow for users to submit claims when they feel
able or become aware. Many employees would likely call outside regular business hours.
Top level commitment Executive management should encourage use of the hotline to provide
assurance to employees that it is encouraged to report fraud.
Reporting and monitoring Claims submitted should be investigated in a timely fashion
Anonymity The hotline should allow for anonymous reporting which encourages individuals to
report issues when they know they will not be targeted.
Pitfalls to be avoided include not employing any of the above characteristics. For example,
management should avoid scrutinizing the use of the hotline so as to not make employees feel
disloyal using it. All reports should be followed up on to the reporter s satisfaction to ensure that

Blakes cry for a voice Essay
Blake s cry for a voice
William Blake had a vision. It was a thought that changed the way poetry and writing would be
viewed from here to eternity. Blake s point of views and associations with the characters
represents a change in the way the reader dictates who the victim is really and who is not. In Blake
s The Chimney Sweeper from the Songs of Innocence and Experience, both aspects of heaven and
hell can be examined just the same as a good versus evil aspect of the two different styles of the
poem. One poem, two totally different views on manners, morals, customs, and what is right and
wrong.

Highly critical poems on rationality, normality and societal parameters are not uncommon and a
trademark of Blake s later, far more bitter poetry. As a social commentator, a number of issues
relevant at the time were the inspiration behind gloomy works such as The Chimney Sweeper
regarding industrialization and, from the Songs of Experience.
Blake was society s unwillingness to accept and recognize new ideas and opportunities for
change. Stating at one point that these reservations were an enemy to social progression . To be
condemned in a society that is much Blake s as well as anyone else s is a torment that would be
felt on all of his art.
The Chimney Sweeper from William Blake s Songs of Innocence comprises
songs of happy cheer about field and flower, hill and stream, and the innocence of child and lamb,
as seen through the eyes of a child (World Book vol.2 pg 314).
In one excerpt, The Chimney Sweeper, Blake, through religious symbolism, gives the image of
an innocence child living a life of hardship and grief that gains comfort from the knowledge that
God will deliver him to a better life in heaven. The image of this child who cried when his head,
that curled like a lamb s back, was shaved gives the impression of the sacrificial lamb, sacrificed
into a life of hardship, poverty, and early death. The child dreams of an

Examples Of Life Lessons In The Outsiders
In the story The Outsiders, there is many life lessons that could help many people. Ranging from
the people you hang out with, to people who need your help. You should always treat people

Ponyboy is involved in called the Greasers. Their rival Gang is called the Socs. The Socs are

Australian Human Rights
Currently the Australian Constitution identifies five explicit human rights which every Australian
is entitled to. Section 51 (xxxi) expresses that property can only be taken from a State or person
by the Commonwealth on just terms. Section 80 details that everyone has a right to a fair trial by a
jury and section 116 implies freedom of religion in that no laws are to be made in order to define or
prohibit any religion (Findlaw Australia, 2016). Section 41 of the Australian Constitution gives
citizens the right to vote by stating that no person should be prevented from voting for
representatives in the House of the Parliament of the Commonwealth (Commonwealth Consolidated
Acts, unkown). Section 117 conveys that no Australian from one State... Show more content on

Common law is set by precedents and customs that have been developed over lengthy periods of
time rather that statutes. It allows judges to interpret current legislation which allows for
flexibility when difficult and unique cases arise. When precedents are set a common law is
created, for example the unique case of Kevin and Jennifer v Attorney General (2001). This case
was the first in Australia to deal with the topic of transexuatal marriage. It followed the example of
the United Kingdom s Corbett v Corbett (1971) case which defined what it was to be female or
male (Oxford University Press, 2003). The Australian courts decision to allow Kevin, a transextual
man, to marry meant that any future transexual people who wished to do the same were permitted
by common law. Although common law is set by magistrates, the Commonwealth Government is
able to expand or reduce common law as they see necessary (Australian Human Rights
Commission, 2015). Important human rights are protected by common law including the
presumption of innocence and the right to sue for false imprisonment (Australian Human Rights
Commision, 2009). Common law is not a solidly structured form of human rights protection
although it does allow flexibility within court cases while the ability for the government to alter
common law provides further assurance in that no common law can not be altered. Issues may also
arise from allowing the government to possess this power because while Australia is a democracy,
voters may not consider human rights as an important issue when choosing who they would like to

Case report for Linear Technology
The main purpose of the report is to make a decision for Linear Technology on dividend policy.
The report analyzed the impact of changing future dividend policy on the value of the company,
based on its historical performance, financial history and market trends.
Linear Technology is a large scale company which focus on the analog segments within
semiconductor industry. It went public in 1986 and announced its dividend policy on 1992.
Nowadays, under the market environment where dividends are unwilling to be paid, Linear still
insisted its dividend commitment.
Now Linear Technology is experiencing some difficulties with its profits that its quarter sales
number in 2003 was far below that in last fiscal year, despite some growth. ... Show more content

This encourage the Linear to use cash balance to buy back their shares. At last, Linear did not plan
to make acquisitions and it had over $1.5 million cash and short term investment in recent years.
Therefore Linear should return some cash to its shareholders due to the advantages discussed above.
What are the tax consequences of keeping cash inside the firm?
Linear would pay the corporate tax for earnings no matter the company chose to keep the cash or
give it out. And if linear offered dividend, the shareholders had to pay for the dividend tax,
meaning shareholders paid double taxes. Considering the proposal raised by President George W
Bush in January 2003 that the taxes of dividends can be eliminate if they were paid out of
earnings that had already been taxed and the capital gain tax is still required, the shareholders
would benefit from saving dividend tax as if the company decided to offer dividend. Therefore the
proposal would encourage the company to return cash to the shareholders.
I would like to add sth. to your answer. Basically about why keeping money in the firm does no
good. Please look at the content below and choose do or do not add these in the answer : )
If the cash is kept in the firm, there are chances that these capitals will be reinvested and bring the
Linear Technology potential benefit from tax shield and interest earnings. Thus, a part of the
opportunity costs of paying dividend will be a deduction of tax by the nature of debt

Cause And Effect Of Stress On College Students
According to a study by the Associated Press and mtvU, eight in 10 college students say they
have sometimes or frequently experienced stress in their daily lives over the past three months, (
Stress in College Students ). College Students are inevitably going to be affected by stress at
some point throughout their college experience; however, the cause of the stress can vary by
student. Some of the causes of stress on college students can be tests, homework, home life, social
life, and jobs. Many times, college students have all or most of these causes piled on top of one
another; therefore, giving them extremely high levels of stress. There are many negative effects of
stress on college students. To begin, one effectof stress on college students is physical health
problems. Some of these problems can include internal stomach problems, weight gain, and even
weight loss. When people are stressed, they tend to focus on the stressor rather than their own
health. For example, college students can experience internal stomach problems because of the
amount of stress they are under. According to Doctor Michael Craig Miller from Harvard Medical
School, functional gastrointestinal disorders have many different causes but stress in particular can
cause these problems to arise (Miller). This goes to show that stress can largely affect college
students physical health. Aside from stomach issues, many college students experience weight gain
or weight loss. The Freshman 15 is a

Stereotyping In Sports
Highly hyped teams will often have shorter odds mainly due to the fact so many people are
betting on them, but if you are a veteran gambler, you will know that the odds a bookie gives and
the hype surrounding a team is not a key indicator of success. Here are five questions you should
ask yourself prior to placing mobile betting soccer bets on hyped teams (especially if you are
planning to stake a lot of money).
Spend Some Time Watching Their Older Matches
You can often pull up older soccer games on the Internet. It is worth having a watch to see how
well they fair. Is the hype justified based on their in game play? When you watch their matches, are
you seeing things that justify the hype the team are receiving? Remember that some teams ... Show

shots from the opposing team to quash their moral and enthusiasm. The hyped team may have been
expecting an easier game than the one they are getting. If you see the opposing team continue to
apply pressure, you could do worse than place an in play bet on the opposing team.
Question 5 Is The Opposing Team Overdue A Dramatic Win?
If you watch a lot of team sports, be it basketball, hockey, rugby, football, or whatever, you will
notice that some teams seem to pull off dramatic comebacks when nobody expects them.
A team can start with pre season games and start their season with a terrible run, and then out of
nowhere they suddenly start winning relentlessly. Do not underestimate the potential of the
opposing team because of their track record. In addition, do not underestimate them because the
hyped team is drawing all the attention. As a long time soccer watcher, you should know that some
teams can suddenly become fantastic overnight. It even happens in games sometimes. There are
times when a team is a mess on the pitch, and then suddenly pulls it together for no

A Campaign Advisor For An Emerging Political Party Essay
I am a campaign advisor for an emerging political party called the Egalitarian Party of the United
States. This party is still quite new on the political scene and lacks widespread credibility.
Nonetheless, we are hoping to have a definitive impact on the upcoming federal election in the
hopes of generating a strong base of support and priming ourselves for great prosperity in the
near future. For our party, the issue that is of most significant and pressing consequence in United
States is that of income inequality. As a western state, the US currently operates based on
capitalist ideals that benefit large corporations and the wealthiest portion of the population.
Although this system looks good on the surface, it has proven to have debilitating consequences
on the vast majority of the population. Most new wealth being generated goes directly into the
pockets of the top 1%, which has caused the middle class to shrink and has stunted economic
development. In order to obtain success, our party must frame the issue in a strategic and
constructive lens that mobilizes voters and engages the population as we fight for economic
equality. Our party will have to be very cognizant of how it conveys its message if it hopes to gain
respect and recognition going forward, and there are a number of strategies relating to political
psychology that will be effective if implemented properly. One of the most important orders of
business in this campaign has to do with finding constructive ways

Resistance to Liberalism Essay
RUNNING HEAD: RESISTANCE TO LIBERALISM
The Justification of Resisting Liberalism
Liberalism, in general, was an ideological movement that emerged out of the ideas of the
Enlightenment and the Industrial Revolution in the early 19th century. It embraced the ideas of
individualism which were established in the Renaissance and Reformation era. The Renaissance
period sparked a belief in the importance of the individual in society. It helped promote the beliefs
of classical liberalism which gradually formed into the liberal ideology of the 19th century.
Individuals that were waiting to get their individual rights and freedoms were allowed to finally
gain liberty and power through this period of time. Classical liberalism developed ... Show more

Luddism, for example, was one of the ideologies that opposed the industrial changes that
liberalism brought. The jobs of the skilled textile workers were lost and replaced by machines
operated by unskilled laborers. The Luddites protested and even broke into factories, destroying
many machinery. Chartism was another example of the response to the unrecognized individual
rights. Chartism was a working class movement with the main focus on political and social reform
in society (Fielding, 2009, 132). The Chartists wanted a political and social reform in society
because they could be granted the rights to participate in these aspects of society. Utopian Socialists
were humanitarians who advocated an end to the appalling conditions of the average worker in the
industrial capitalist countries (Fielding, 2009, 134). They believed that education and the improved
working conditions could peacefully remove the worst aspects of capitalism and lead to an ideal
socialist society where everyone would live happily. It is therefore the interest of all, that everyone,
from birth, should be well educated, physically and mentally, that society may be improved in its
character; that everyone should be beneficially employed, physically, and mentally, that the greatest
amount of wealth may be created and knowledge attained.... (Fielding, 2009, 135). Another
essential resistance to liberalism was showcased by the ideology of classical conservatism. The

How Do Microorganisms Affect The Destruction Of Riparian...
Many new developments are being built by freshwater sources such as lakes and rivers and with this
construction, riparian areas are being destroyed. Both of these actions negatively impact the amount
of dissolved oxygen at the source. Industries such as construction and logging may send large
amounts of organic matter into streams (Zaimes 2007). This organic matter would then be
decomposed by microorganisms, which use up oxygenin this process. This process creates a
eutrophic system where oxygen levels are depleted. Additionally, destruction of Riparian areas
would decrease the tree cover and increase the water temperature. The significance of this
temperature increase is that the water would be able to hold less dissolved oxygen. Many aquatic

The Earthquake
It was a sunny day outside. The heat from the sun was hitting my face as I was painting the hot
summer day onto my canvas. The colors made the image stand out and made it bright. The
yellows added the joy to the picture while the greens freshened up the image. It was burning
outside and my throat felt dry, like the Sahara desert. I reached for my cold cup filled with icy
lemonade. I slowly took the last sip. I felt hydrated as the ice cubes were hitting my lips and
little bits traveling down my throat. My palms were covered in water drops from the cup. I went
back to painting after I dried my hands and gently wiped my lips with a soft napkin. After painting
for awhile I decided to take a small break. I held my cup tightly and ran downstairs with little drops
dripping from the cup. There was just a little bit of lemonade left so I decided to carefully pour the
rest into my cup and head upstairs to my room. As you may know almost everyone has siblings,
including me. While my parents were not home, I was painting my beautiful picture, my older

Times Of Our Lives Analysis
Time Perception: Screen vs. Print
We are living in a time of increasingly fast technological advances. As we become more and more
advanced, people are abandoning the physical hard copy books for E readers in increasingly large
numbers. E Readers have several advantages over physical books. To name a few, they are smaller
and lighter, can hold multiple books at a time, and can be backlit to help read in the dark. We are
interested in looking at some perceptual differences between when a person reads a book and
when they read on an E reader and more specifically, we want to measure whether an individual s
perception of time changes based on the medium in which they are receiving information. As
technology proliferates throughout our daily lives, it would be important to understand the effect it
has on our perception of time. Studying this could help to understand the relationship between
perceived time when reading a physical material and perceived time reading on a screen, which
could help us efficiently use our time.
In the reading, Modern Perception of Time and Acceleration of the Pace of Life , the author s
argument is that it is essential to pay more attention to the influence of ongoing changes on the life

Analysis Of Mccloskey s On Being An Atheist
In McCloskey s (1968) article On Being an Atheist , the arguments for the existence of God are
rebutted and some compelling reasons are given in order to enlighten some other atheists who
might be struggling to defend their beliefs. Firstly, McCloskey (1968) opens his discussion by
asserting that the three main proofs (teleological, cosmological, and argument from design) of God
s existenceare not the basic nor the right proofs with which to arrive at a vague (p.51) conclusion
that states the existence of a necessary being. These proofs have not been considered by the
serious theologians, but instead, they have been the excuse of the parson (McCloskey, 1968).
However, McCloskey misses the point made by such arguments by assuming that such defenses are
a definite proof of the existence of God. To regard something as a proof, one must know that the
argument being made is certain and incorrigible, but the arguments made by the theist are said to
be defeasible, not incorrigible or certain (Foreman, 2012). This mean that the arguments can be
regarded as true unless a defeater, which if it were true, would defeat the argument (Foreman,
2012). Then, if the classical arguments used by the theist to advocate for God s existence are
defeasible and not proofs as McCloskey claims, and no defeater has been shown to be true, there is
no need to abandon such arguments.
Secondly, McCloskey discusses the cosmological argumentand states that there is no reason for
believing that the

Poetry
A Soldier
By Robert Frost
He is that fallen lance that lies as hurled,
That lies unlifted now, come dew, come rust,
But still lies pointed as it plowed the dust.
If we who sight along it round the world,
See nothing worthy to have been its mark,
It is because like men we look too near,
Forgetting that as fitted to the sphere,
Our missiles always make too short an arc.
They fall, they rip the grass, they intersect
The curve of earth, and striking, break their own;
They make us cringe for metal point on stone.
But this we know, the obstacle that checked
And tripped the body, shot the spirit on
Further than target ever showed or shone
How does poetry help you see yourself/your world differently?

Young as she is, the stuff
Of her life is a great cargo, and some of it heavy:
I wish her a lucky passage.
But now it is she who pauses,
As if to reject my thought and its easy figure.
A stillness greatens, in which
The whole house seems to be thinking,
And then she is at it again with a bunched clamor
Of strokes, and again is silent.
I remember the dazed starling
Which was trapped in that very room, two years ago;
How we stole in, lifted a sash
And retreated, not to affright it;
And how for a helpless hour, through the crack of the door,
We watched the sleek, wild, dark
And iridescent creature
Batter against the brilliance, drop like a glove
To the hard floor, or the desk top,
And wait then, humped and bloody,
For the wits to try it again; and how our spirits
Rose when, suddenly sure,
It lifted off from a chair back,
Beating a smooth course for the right window
And clearing the sill of the world.
It is always a matter, my darling,
Of life or death, as I had forgotten. I wish
What I wished you before, but harder.

What are deep? The ocean and truth.
How can sorrow be heavy as said in the poem? Today and Tomorrow be brief? Youth be frail? And
truth be deep?

Relationship Between The Boy And The Road
One thing that remains constant in the ever changing world of Cormac McCarthy s dystopian
novel The Road is the relationship between The Man and The Boy. The father and son s bond is
extremely close, especially due to the isolation they face on The Road, but it is filled with love and
endearment, like someone would expect any relationship between a father and son to be.
Early on in the novel, the reader begins to learn that the The Man and The Boy have a very close
and intimate bond. Rather than causing a strain on the their relationship, the isolation that
constantly follows the pair on The Road actually made their bond as father and son stronger .
Traveling along The Road by themselves causes The Man and The Boy s relationship to become
extremely codependent. The Boy relies on The Man like any child would rely on their father.
The Boy completely counts on The Man for everything, including food, shelter, clothes, and
everything else that is needed to survive on The Road. The Man keeps them safe from the bad
guys and keeps them alive and as healthy as he can. The Boy s needs are always put before The
Man s needs. However, The Man depends upon The Boy just as much as The Boy depends on
him. If it weren t for The Boy, The Man would have been dead a long time ago. The only reason
that he has survived this long is because of The Boy. Making sure The Boy survives is the only
meaning that The Man has to his life. The Boy s continued existence is the most influential

Reality and Illusion
Postmodern literature draws attention to its status as fictional to break down barriers between
reality and illusion. The boundaries between real and fake are no longer clear, because identity is
socially constructed. In White Noise and Nights at the Circus, characters such as Sophie Fevvers
and Jack Gladney have fabricated personas, and they exaggerate these roles so that their audiences
cannot tell the difference between what the characters perform and their true nature. There are
many Matryoshka principles in Nights at the Circus, adding many layers of fictionto the story. This
emphasizes the constructed identities of the characters by the authors and the characters
themselves. This essay will examine how performance, mise en abyme, fabulation, and hyperreality
all indicate how identity is constructed. In Nights at the Circusand White Noise, the audience is not
supposed to be able to tell whether the characters are performing a certain role. Instead, they tend
to step into a role, as if this is their true nature, but they know what is adorned. In Nights at the
Circus, when Walser meets Fevvers, he runs through diverse processes of belief and disbelief as
he talks to and observes her. When he is watching her on the trapeze, he starts as quite rational, he
whimsically reasoned with her status as a winged woman and analyzes her anatomy in a scientific
manner comparable to Darwinism by all the laws of evolution and human reason . He represents the

Analysis Of The Scarlett Letter And The House Of Seven...
Battle of The Customs Nineteenth century literature is highly influenced by historical facts for
the characters and the setting of the story. Hawthorne uses historical facts and integrates them
into his story. The 1900 s are the prime time of religion, etiquette and social classes. A lot of our
customs today come from this time period. In the past, questioning any of these could result in
serious punishments. In both The Scarlett Letter and The House of Seven Gables, Hawthorne
demonstrates the impact of going against the customs as well as social etiquette in the
nineteenth century. To begin, in both novels, sin and knowledge are the source of all problems.
In The Scarlett Letter, hypocrisy is a prominent theme. Hypocrisy in the eyes of religion, is a
horrible sin to have. It has physically scarred Dimmesdale. Dimmesdale believes that God
knows and He is merciful of his sins. Dimmesdale says that [God proves] his mercy, most of all,
in [Dimmesdale s] afflictions (The Scarlett Letter, 266). Since Dimmesdale is a sinner and keeps
it a secret, God inflicts pain on his chest were the letter A should be. This is interpreted as a sign
of karma for his sins. Therefore, his knowledge of God and his sin makes him believe that this is
his punishment for letting Hester take all the blame and are the ultimately the cause of his death.
Another example of how sin causes problems is in Hester. In her care, the act of adultery ruins

Violence Is A Serious Problem Worldwide
Abuse is a serious problem worldwide and happens countless times on a daily basis. Information
regarding how to deal with violence and aggression is vital to our personal well being. Abuse
comes in numerous styles and does not discriminate against anybody; violence can and often does
happen to people in every type of lifestyle, culture, occupation, social class, religion and age group.
Abuse, or violence, is considered to be any intentional and unwanted contact. Violence is a major
public health problem in the United States, from infants to the elderly, it affects people in all
stages of life. Violence is portrayed in the media, movies, and shows on television today. For
instance, television presents so much violence that it has become so well adapted and practiced in
our society that it is no longer viewed as completely repulsive and appalling to the human mind.
Violence throughout various television programing continues to become more accepted. We, as a
society, have gradually become numb to the consequences caused by brutality. As a result, it gives
an indeterminate percentage of society the notion that violence is totally normal and socially

Hostile creatures going out causing harm to individuals with poor reasoning or without any

American Culture And Their Influence On The Culture

culture. In Return to Laughter, Lauren Bohannon, or her nom de plume Elenore Smith Bowen,

social order. Bowen even remarks witchcraft surprised her when she writes, despite my training I
had thought these people would differ only by externals of dress and custom... I had willfully

to be at the cornerstone of Tiv culture and forces Bowen to reevaluate herself, her ethnographic

The Importance Of QuinceaГ±eras In Latin America
In modern society one of the most important aspects of one s life is crossing the threshold into
adulthood. So at what age, or perhaps at what stage of life, is adulthood granted? Depending on
the culture it could be decided by marriage, age, military service, or even religion. Some cultures
will have a coming of age party to celebrate becoming adult. A few of the more popular events that
you may have attended unknowingly in the past are bat mitzvahs, bar mitzvahs, and
QuinceaГ±eras. In Jewish communities men and woman are considered adults on their thirteenth
birthday, commonly known as a bar and bat mitzvah. Many families in Latin America or of Latin
American descent will have a party most commonly referred to as a QuinceaГ±era for their
daughter s fifteenth birthday to celebrate her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many African countries adolescents are isolated from their families, friends, and towns for up to
a couple months. In this time they are mentored to the ways of their society and are welcomed
back as a man. Another journey is highlighted in the movie 300. They discuss the transformation
from child to man in the ancient Greece nation state of Sparta. Boys would be taken from their
families at the age of seven to enter the Agoge system from which they not only emerged as fierce
warriors, but as adults. Some countries determine adulthood by the minimum age requirement for
child labor. Unfortunately the minimum age varies among countries. In countries such as Syria or
Bangladesh the minimum age requirement for child labor is twelve. However, in the United States
it is 15 16 years old but they must have written consent from their parents. Another popular theory
for being considered an adult is the legal voting age. In most countries the legal age is 18,
including the United States. In Italy, however, you cannot vote for a senator until age

By doing so, Kathy is able to focus on the important items such as the financials, looking into
geographic areas suitable for expansion, and increasing internet orders. Kathy need to either cut
her high paid employees who only specialize in certain areas or train them to become useful in
other areas so as to use all resources wisely. Kathy has a great opportunity to expand using the
internet and online orders. This would allow her to service individuals outside of California and
expand her client base.
End Vision. Kudler Fine Foods goals and vision should be to continue customer service through
store locations and internet orders so as to allow the customer base to achieve the best quality
service and products KFF can give to them. KFF should remain loyal to all customers by listening
to the needs and wants of the customers in the area of business for each store. KFF should make a
goal to allow their customers a more convenient service by increasing internet orders.
Conclusion
Kudler Fine Foods, even though the company has too many stores in too central of a location,
high paid, hardly used employees, and a weak internet order facility there are ways to solve the
issues as well as keep the vision statement of providing the best for their customers at all times.

Linear Machines During World War I
At the end of World War I there were 4 different rotor based cipher machines invented by four
men Edward Hebern (USA), Arthur Scheribus (Germany), Hugo Koch (Netherlands), Arvid
Damm (Sweden) in four different countries within years of each other. These types of rotor
machines were used in World War II and provided a strong encryption method while also making it
easier for people to use.
The Hebern Rotor Machine invented by Edward Hebern was a mix between a standard typewriter
and an electric typewriter. Edward attempted to build and market his machine and was confident
enough in that prospect that he secured investors and started a company called Hebern Electric
Code. He was not able to sell his machine though and it did not become ... Show more content on

These men realized that the Diffie Hellman method was exposed to people listening to the
exchanges man in the middle attack and capturing the prime numbers used with the public keys
given. With that information hackers are able to crack the code leaving the encryption vulnerable.
RSA allows a message to be encrypted asymmetrically using the public key. It is based upon not
having the ability to factor the product of two large prime numbers. The public key consists of the
modulus and encryption exponent. The sender uses the receiver s public key to encrypt the
message which can only be decrypted in a reasonable time using the private decryption key of the
receiver.
Elliptic Curve cryptography is a method of encryption that involves the algebraic structure of an
elliptic curve. An important observation of an elliptic curve that is drawn is that there is some
horizontal symmetry. This allows for plotting from one point to another, then bouncing from the
second point down to the reflection of the curve to get a value. The advantage with Elliptic Curve
cryptography is that there is no backdoor method to cracking the code and it is harder and takes
longer than factoring does with

Law Enforcement Officers Should Be Strict
Law enforcement officers have a very important role in society. They have a job that involves
lots of decision making and using personal judgment. Law officers have many duties while at
work. Law officers have to decide whether or not someone is breaking the law and how they will
enforce the situation. Law officers are sometimes expected to be perfect. They have to catch all
the criminals and save all the innocent people. Unfortunately it doesn t always work that way
but officers try to do the best of their ability. All officers are different in that some are stricter
and you can t get away with as much, and others are very laid back and you are apt to get away
with more. I believe all officers should be strict when it comes to safety issues, and people s
health is at risk. I also believe officers should try and teach you what is against the law before
you are punished, like warnings should be issued when no one is in harm s way. Some officers
think they are unforgettable when they put on a badge, sometimes officers forget what they re
there for and go too far. There are many cases when people have been falsely abused by officers
for no reason. All people have rights, even when you have committed a crime. You are read your
rights when you get arrested and no one can take those rights away from you. If an officer
violates those rights, you will probably win your case because of it. I think the laws and rules
citizens have to follow are reasonable. To run a country

Persuasive Essay On School Shootings
School shootings strike into the heart of every American. The thought of innocent students, young
with limitless potential, being mercilessly mowed down wrenches one s heart. Yet these events
continue to happen. What could possibly drive a person to commit such a horrifying act? That
single question has created a fierce debate over the causes of school shootings and what should be
done to stop them. The many possible causes include lax gun control laws, poor mental health
services, poverty, culture, psychological thresholds, and even masculinity. They touch on sensitive
political issues that cause intense division. This divisiveness has prevented any federal action
from being taken to directly address the problem. However, it is important to set aside differences
and to act in a pragmatic manner. Although some may not like it, it is clear that the increasing
number of school shootings in the US is caused by a combination of weak gun control laws, and
toxic masculinity. Guns are created to kill. They have been used in many mass shootings and in
overwhelming cases, in school shootings. The crowdedness of school campuses make them lethal.
It is also no secret that the United States is the wild west when it comes to guns. According to
Samantha Gupta from the Harvard Political Review, American civilians own an astounding 270
million guns, more than the civilians of the 21 other countries that had school shootings own
combined. That is enough guns to give 84% of the population one each. This is caused by lax gun
control laws and the loopholes that exist within them. The failure of the US government to
implement universal background checks and bans on certain types of guns and ammunitions have
allowed potentially dangerous people access to lethal weapons. And these people wreak havoc.
From Gupta again, Out of all these countries that have experienced a school shootingin the given
time period, the average number of school shootings per firearmper capita is 0.111; America s
average is over five times higher.
Often, detractors will point to countries like Switzerland that have high levels of gun ownership yet
have almost no school shootings. While the Swiss do have many guns, they are not allowed to
possess

  • 2. Essay about Love in Valentine and The Flea Love in Valentine and The Flea Through a close analysis of language, structure and theme, compare and contrast the poets attitude to love in Valentine and The Flea. The poem The Flea is about a man trying to cunningly argue a woman into bed. John Donne s The Flea was a metaphysical poem, written most probably, to entertain an audience of men; this was called a coterie, which was a group of like minded individuals who cleverly wrote for each other s amusement. This poem was written sometime in the 17th century where religion was extremely important and sex before marriage frowned upon. The poet is exploring ideas and feelings about lust and how unimportant losing virginity is, which a woman will obviously object to. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is persistent in his argument and irritating, this portrays himself as a replicate of a flea, just trying to get what he wants. In the first stanza John Donne is narrating to the reader. The flea has sucked his blood and hers and he is now using this flea as an example for his argument by saying: Mark but this flea, and mark in this, How little that which thou deniest me is; He is also implying that virginity is small and insignificant. This will obviously offend the girl because virginity is a very important gift that a woman has to bestow on a man. But the poet does not seem to give up on this point. The poet uses cunning phrases such as: Thou know st that this cannot be said A sin, nor shame, nor loss of maidenhead; Which make me feel that he is lulling her into a sense of false security. This is a great technique to win his argument. At the end of stanza one, the poet becomes quite melodramatic: Yet this enjoys before it woo, And pamper d swells in one blood made of two;
  • 3. And this, alas! is more than we would do. Donne could be implying that the flea easily has enjoyment from sucking her blood and that he himself has no pleasure from her. This might show he has an egotistical attitude towards women. Donne s use of physical language such as suck d , blood and swells implies his lustful desires and show the sensual undercurrents of the poem. At the start of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Intellectual Property Intellectual Property 12/05/12 Music Piracy in the US Counterfeit, piracy, bootleg, or stealing, these are some of the many terms associated with the unauthorized dissemination and distribution of copyrighted music. For over five decades, the music industry in the United States has had to grapple with the effects of such activity. The Copyright Act of 1909 was the first granting exclusive rights to copyrighted music. The Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works was created in 1886 and governs international copyrights. Cyber bullying and theft are new forms of the ancient art of school yard bullying and stealing. The only differences are the means that are used. The concept is generally the same. As music players advanced from the old Gramophone, to the record player, to the cassette tape, to the compact disc, and now any digital format such as MP3, so did the means of copying. No longer is there a need to sneak around with hulky recorders into performances. With the explosion of the internet, accessing music has never been easier. Proof is the demise of the brick and mortar record store. They have become as pre historic as dinosaurs. Even compact discs are gradually becoming antiquated. They occupy space and require purchasing an entire album, which contains few songs that are pleasing to the ear. Today, one can easily log onto the internet and easily download a song, or two, or thousands. The digital format of music such as MP3 s allows for easy and light weight access to hundreds if not thousands of songs on one small single device. • 7. Analysis Of The Article Gop Fox Circus Act By Reed... In the article GOP Fox Circus Act , Reed Richardson argues that although both the GOP and Fox have conservative political values, they are ultimately harmful to each other s agendas because of their differing political goals. Both organizations are lacking popularity in recent years so they are struggling to find new ways to gain an audience. The GOP wants to find a way to get their ideas to a wide variety of people, whereas Fox is promoting more liberal views to increase the ratings of their programs. On one hand, the GOP s reputation is hurt by the inaccuracy of Fox s reporting. On the other hand, Fox is tied down by the conservative views of the GOP, thus restraining Fox from gaining a larger audience. Journalist Reed Richardson wrote this article for The National, a liberal newspaper, in 2013, so the events and issues that he is speaking of are still relevant to this day. Due to the differences of political views between the author and the subject matter, there is plenty of room for biased statements and opinions. Does Richardson provide enough evidence of the harmful effects of the Fox and GOP relationship? Richardson clearly and meticulously establishes the problems that both organizations face in the pursuit of their political goals with the use of statistics, reliable sources, and thorough evaluation of events; however Richardson constantly provides the reader with a biased argument when discussing the current state of Fox. Richardson successfully portrays the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Exodus I:6, Now Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation died, but the Israelites were fruitful and multiplied greatly and become exceedingly numerous so that the land was filled with them. The new king of Egypt, who did not know Joseph, came into power. He declared to his people that the Israeliteshad become too plentiful and would eventually join their enemies in war, the king decided oppressive slave labor would keep their numbers slim. (JBC) The Ten Plagues occur from a major battle between Yahweh and the Pharaoh for the service of the Hebrews . Service, in both Hebr and Eng, means both work and worship. The redactor has skillfully arranged and augmented old traditions about seven plagues (cf. the seven in Pss 78:43 51; 105:26 36 and the fact that there are only seven plagues in J) into three triplets, and the climatic tenth plague is outside the series. (JBC) As the Israelites are initially given consent to leave, the actual route they took is discussed within the commentary, The best route for the people is not the Way of the Philistines the most direct, but guided by the fortress at Zilu but rather a route through the wilderness at the Sea of Reeds, a swampy area around Lake Balah. (JBC) The climactic battle in which the Egyptian army comes after the Israelites and Moses parted the sea, is conceived by each source differently. According to P, Moses divided the sea by the rod and Israel walked through on dry land, the waters being a wall to their right and left. When Israel got to the other side, Moses raised his hand and the walls of water crashed in on the Egyptian army, wiping them out. According to J, Yahweh the storm god drove back the sea long enough for Israel to cross in the night and then the sea returned to its wonted flow in the morning. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the 1950s people aged 13 19 became known as teenagers, prior to this people were all either children or adults. Jeans became popular clothes for teenagers because they were seen as a sign of rebellion against parents and authority. The jeans wearing teenagers then grew up and become parents meaning that the next generation of youngsters saw older people wearing the jeans and refused to wear them. • 11. What Is The Synopsis Of Ang Tunay Na Ina FILM ANALYSIS Ang Tunay na Ina is a Filipino melodrama, directed and written by Octavio Silos. The major casts of the film are Rosario Moreno as Magdalena, Rudy Concepcion as Roberto, Tita Duran as Tita, Quiel Segovia as Antonio, Dona Luisa as Nati Rubi, Don Alberto as Precioso Palma, Naty Bernardo as Aling Andang. This is one of the few films that survived from World War II. This is also one of the films that they were able to restore. The film focuses on how Magdalena is longing for her lost daughter. Her daughter is the only reason why she felt incomplete and unhappy that is why she tried to find her. I believe, that is what how a real mother will feel. As she finds her daughter, the film emphasized how she proved that she is the real mother of Tita, not only by blood but also by heart. And as the title says, Ang Tunay na Ina, it does not only define a real mother on its own by her responsibilities and actions but also by the way she feels towards her children. • 12. Eyewitness Testimony Memory In the late 19th century research on eyewitness, testimony memory began, psychologists had been studying memory, and the findings became useful for forensic psychology and law. A central issue with studying eyewitness memory and testimony is the ecological validity of lab studies. There are relatively few real world eyewitness memorystudies, and that causes problems for determining the generalizability of findings in eyewitness memory. Coined by Wells (1978) estimator variables are present at the time of a crimeand cannot be changed (i.e. witness characteristics and the type of offence) and system variables are factors that can be manipulated to affect eyewitness accuracy (i.e. line up procedures and interview types). The system variables... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Biggers (1972) instructions were given to the jury that said witness confidence should be used to assess witness accuracy. This statement was highly controversial at the time because there was only a minor positive correlation between confidence and accuracy far from enough to say it was a significant correlation. The U.S. Supreme Court outlined five criteria that should be used in the future for evaluating the accuracy of eyewitness testimony. Preferable methods for evaluating the accuracy include assessing the suggestiveness of the identification procedure, assessing the instructions given to the witness, examine the structure of the photo or live lineup and ensure there was no suggestibility or coercive methods. One criticism of the Biggers criteria is the lack of system variables. Most variables within the Biggers criteria are estimator variables; which the justice system has no control over. To reduce some of the problems that have been found with eyewitness memory and testimony, I recommend not mistaking confidence for memory accuracy and using multiple techniques and interviewing models to develop more accurate and consistent information (i.e. using the cognitive enhanced interview model and combined with the Reid model or other models). Also, courts and jurors need to test/check for suggestibility and coercive interview or investigative practices before trials ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, measures have been taken to ensure that data is not accessed by others which is done by using several methods which, besides physical security, includes the use of encryption algorithms which are programs that change the way information looks by rendering it illegible. This complex procedure ensures that the data is safe from being accessed by other parties[4]. Therefore, the key is an important component of the data encryption process since it is the one that makes the data into a unique cipher text that cannot be accessed by other individuals and it is also applied while decrypting the data. The key in computers is measured in bits and if an individual knows the algorithm but does not know the key, the data cannot be accessed algorithmically since the key is a major component to its being decrypted. The most common method for breaking a cipher is through brute force attack where the possible combinations of the key are guessed and applied until the right combination is arrived at. Therefore, the longer the key the harder it would be to crack the code. The personal involvement of Janet as shown by the message which asks her to personally transfer money to her own bank account is suspect. This is in view of the fact that Janet knows the key to Susan s account and could have used it to transfer the money to her own account. Therefore, the bank could be using the private key encryption system in which the key is known to the business in this case Janet and to the customer Susan. Common law is set by precedents and customs that have been developed over lengthy periods of time rather that statutes. It allows judges to interpret current legislation which allows for flexibility when difficult and unique cases arise. When precedents are set a common law is created, for example the unique case of Kevin and Jennifer v Attorney General (2001). This case was the first in Australia to deal with the topic of transexuatal marriage. It followed the example of the United Kingdom s Corbett v Corbett (1971) case which defined what it was to be female or male (Oxford University Press, 2003). The Australian courts decision to allow Kevin, a transextual man, to marry meant that any future transexual people who wished to do the same were permitted by common law. Although common law is set by magistrates, the Commonwealth Government is able to expand or reduce common law as they see necessary (Australian Human Rights Commission, 2015). Important human rights are protected by common law including the presumption of innocence and the right to sue for false imprisonment (Australian Human Rights Commision, 2009). Common law is not a solidly structured form of human rights protection although it does allow flexibility within court cases while the ability for the government to alter common law provides further assurance in that no common law can not be altered. Issues may also arise from allowing the government to possess this power because while Australia is a democracy, voters may not consider human rights as an important issue when choosing who they would like to govern ... At last, Linear did not plan to make acquisitions and it had over $1.5 million cash and short term investment in recent years. Therefore Linear should return some cash to its shareholders due to the advantages discussed above. What are the tax consequences of keeping cash inside the firm? Linear would pay the corporate tax for earnings no matter the company chose to keep the cash or give it out. And if linear offered dividend, the shareholders had to pay for the dividend tax, meaning shareholders paid double taxes. Considering the proposal raised by President George W Bush in January 2003 that the taxes of dividends can be eliminate if they were paid out of earnings that had already been taxed and the capital gain tax is still required, the shareholders would benefit from saving dividend tax as if the company decided to offer dividend. Therefore the proposal would encourage the company to return cash to the shareholders. I would like to add sth. to your answer. Basically about why keeping money in the firm does no good. Please look at the content below and choose do or do not add these in the answer : ) If the cash is kept in the firm, there are chances that these capitals will be reinvested and bring the Linear Technology potential benefit from tax shield and interest earnings. • 25. A Campaign Advisor For An Emerging Political Party Essay I am a campaign advisor for an emerging political party called the Egalitarian Party of the United States. This party is still quite new on the political scene and lacks widespread credibility. Nonetheless, we are hoping to have a definitive impact on the upcoming federal election in the hopes of generating a strong base of support and priming ourselves for great prosperity in the near future. For our party, the issue that is of most significant and pressing consequence in United States is that of income inequality. As a western state, the US currently operates based on capitalist ideals that benefit large corporations and the wealthiest portion of the population. Although this system looks good on the surface, it has proven to have debilitating consequences on the vast majority of the population. Most new wealth being generated goes directly into the pockets of the top 1%, which has caused the middle class to shrink and has stunted economic development. In order to obtain success, our party must frame the issue in a strategic and constructive lens that mobilizes voters and engages the population as we fight for economic equality. Our party will have to be very cognizant of how it conveys its message if it hopes to gain respect and recognition going forward, and there are a number of strategies relating to political psychology that will be effective if implemented properly. Resistance to Liberalism Essay RUNNING HEAD: RESISTANCE TO LIBERALISM The Justification of Resisting Liberalism Liberalism, in general, was an ideological movement that emerged out of the ideas of the Enlightenment and the Industrial Revolution in the early 19th century. It embraced the ideas of individualism which were established in the Renaissance and Reformation era. The Renaissance period sparked a belief in the importance of the individual in society. It helped promote the beliefs of classical liberalism which gradually formed into the liberal ideology of the 19th century. Individuals that were waiting to get their individual rights and freedoms were allowed to finally gain liberty and power through this period of time. Classical liberalism developed ... The jobs of the skilled textile workers were lost and replaced by machines operated by unskilled laborers. The Luddites protested and even broke into factories, destroying many machinery. Chartism was another example of the response to the unrecognized individual rights. Chartism was a working class movement with the main focus on political and social reform in society (Fielding, 2009, 132). The Chartists wanted a political and social reform in society because they could be granted the rights to participate in these aspects of society. Utopian Socialists were humanitarians who advocated an end to the appalling conditions of the average worker in the industrial capitalist countries (Fielding, 2009, 134). They believed that education and the improved working conditions could peacefully remove the worst aspects of capitalism and lead to an ideal socialist society where everyone would live happily. It is therefore the interest of all, that everyone, from birth, should be well educated, physically and mentally, that society may be improved in its character; that everyone should be beneficially employed, physically, and mentally, that the greatest amount of wealth may be created and knowledge attained.... Many new developments are being built by freshwater sources such as lakes and rivers and with this construction, riparian areas are being destroyed. Both of these actions negatively impact the amount of dissolved oxygen at the source. Industries such as construction and logging may send large amounts of organic matter into streams (Zaimes 2007). This organic matter would then be decomposed by microorganisms, which use up oxygenin this process. This process creates a eutrophic system where oxygen levels are depleted. Additionally, destruction of Riparian areas would decrease the tree cover and increase the water temperature. The significance of this temperature increase is that the water would be able to hold less dissolved oxygen. Many aquatic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As we become more and more advanced, people are abandoning the physical hard copy books for E readers in increasingly large numbers. E Readers have several advantages over physical books. To name a few, they are smaller and lighter, can hold multiple books at a time, and can be backlit to help read in the dark. We are interested in looking at some perceptual differences between when a person reads a book and when they read on an E reader and more specifically, we want to measure whether an individual s perception of time changes based on the medium in which they are receiving information. As technology proliferates throughout our daily lives, it would be important to understand the effect it has on our perception of time. Studying this could help to understand the relationship between perceived time when reading a physical material and perceived time reading on a screen, which could help us efficiently use our time. • 30. Analysis Of Mccloskey s On Being An Atheist In McCloskey s (1968) article On Being an Atheist , the arguments for the existence of God are rebutted and some compelling reasons are given in order to enlighten some other atheists who might be struggling to defend their beliefs. Firstly, McCloskey (1968) opens his discussion by asserting that the three main proofs (teleological, cosmological, and argument from design) of God s existenceare not the basic nor the right proofs with which to arrive at a vague (p.51) conclusion that states the existence of a necessary being. These proofs have not been considered by the serious theologians, but instead, they have been the excuse of the parson (McCloskey, 1968). However, McCloskey misses the point made by such arguments by assuming that such defenses are a definite proof of the existence of God. To regard something as a proof, one must know that the argument being made is certain and incorrigible, but the arguments made by the theist are said to be defeasible, not incorrigible or certain (Foreman, 2012). This mean that the arguments can be regarded as true unless a defeater, which if it were true, would defeat the argument (Foreman, 2012). Then, if the classical arguments used by the theist to advocate for God s existence are defeasible and not proofs as McCloskey claims, and no defeater has been shown to be true, there is no need to abandon such arguments. Secondly, McCloskey discusses the cosmological argumentand states that there is no reason for believing that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Early on in the novel, the reader begins to learn that the The Man and The Boy have a very close and intimate bond. The boundaries between real and fake are no longer clear, because identity is socially constructed. In the past, questioning any of these could result in serious punishments. In both The Scarlett Letter and The House of Seven Gables, Hawthorne demonstrates the impact of going against the customs as well as social etiquette in the nineteenth century. To begin, in both novels, sin and knowledge are the source of all problems. In The Scarlett Letter, hypocrisy is a prominent theme. Hypocrisy in the eyes of religion, is a horrible sin to have. It has physically scarred Dimmesdale. Dimmesdale believes that God knows and He is merciful of his sins. • 44. The Importance Of QuinceaГ±eras In Latin America In modern society one of the most important aspects of one s life is crossing the threshold into adulthood. So at what age, or perhaps at what stage of life, is adulthood granted? Depending on the culture it could be decided by marriage, age, military service, or even religion. Some cultures will have a coming of age party to celebrate becoming adult. A few of the more popular events that you may have attended unknowingly in the past are bat mitzvahs, bar mitzvahs, and QuinceaГ±eras. In Jewish communities men and woman are considered adults on their thirteenth birthday, commonly known as a bar and bat mitzvah. Many families in Latin America or of Latin American descent will have a party most commonly referred to as a QuinceaГ±era for their daughter s fifteenth birthday to celebrate her... In this time they are mentored to the ways of their society and are welcomed back as a man. Another journey is highlighted in the movie 300. They discuss the transformation from child to man in the ancient Greece nation state of Sparta. Boys would be taken from their families at the age of seven to enter the Agoge system from which they not only emerged as fierce warriors, but as adults. Some countries determine adulthood by the minimum age requirement for child labor. Unfortunately the minimum age varies among countries. In countries such as Syria or Bangladesh the minimum age requirement for child labor is twelve. However, in the United States it is 15 16 years old but they must have written consent from their parents. Another popular theory for being considered an adult is the legal voting age. In most countries the legal age is 18, including the United States. In Italy, however, you cannot vote for a senator until age ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Linear Machines During World War I At the end of World War I there were 4 different rotor based cipher machines invented by four men Edward Hebern (USA), Arthur Scheribus (Germany), Hugo Koch (Netherlands), Arvid Damm (Sweden) in four different countries within years of each other. These types of rotor machines were used in World War II and provided a strong encryption method while also making it easier for people to use. The Hebern Rotor Machine invented by Edward Hebern was a mix between a standard typewriter and an electric typewriter. Edward attempted to build and market his machine and was confident enough in that prospect that he secured investors and started a company called Hebern Electric Code. He was not able to sell his machine though and it did not become ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These men realized that the Diffie Hellman method was exposed to people listening to the exchanges man in the middle attack and capturing the prime numbers used with the public keys given. With that information hackers are able to crack the code leaving the encryption vulnerable. RSA allows a message to be encrypted asymmetrically using the public key. It is based upon not having the ability to factor the product of two large prime numbers. The public key consists of the modulus and encryption exponent. The sender uses the receiver s public key to encrypt the message which can only be decrypted in a reasonable time using the private decryption key of the receiver. Elliptic Curve cryptography is a method of encryption that involves the algebraic structure of an elliptic curve. An important observation of an elliptic curve that is drawn is that there is some horizontal symmetry. This allows for plotting from one point to another, then bouncing from the second point down to the reflection of the curve to get a value. The advantage with Elliptic Curve cryptography is that there is no backdoor method to cracking the code and it is harder and takes longer than factoring does with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Law Enforcement Officers Should Be Strict Law enforcement officers have a very important role in society. They have a job that involves lots of decision making and using personal judgment. Law officers have many duties while at work. Law officers have to decide whether or not someone is breaking the law and how they will enforce the situation. Law officers are sometimes expected to be perfect. They have to catch all the criminals and save all the innocent people. Unfortunately it doesn t always work that way but officers try to do the best of their ability. All officers are different in that some are stricter and you can t get away with as much, and others are very laid back and you are apt to get away with more. I believe all officers should be strict when it comes to safety issues, and people s health is at risk. I also believe officers should try and teach you what is against the law before you are punished, like warnings should be issued when no one is in harm s way. Some officers think they are unforgettable when they put on a badge, sometimes officers forget what they re there for and go too far. There are many cases when people have been falsely abused by officers for no reason. All people have rights, even when you have committed a crime. You are read your rights when you get arrested and no one can take those rights away from you. If an officer violates those rights, you will probably win your case because of it. I think the laws and rules citizens have to follow are reasonable. To run a country ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Persuasive Essay On School Shootings School shootings strike into the heart of every American. The thought of innocent students, young with limitless potential, being mercilessly mowed down wrenches one s heart. Yet these events continue to happen. What could possibly drive a person to commit such a horrifying act? That single question has created a fierce debate over the causes of school shootings and what should be done to stop them. The many possible causes include lax gun control laws, poor mental health services, poverty, culture, psychological thresholds, and even masculinity. They touch on sensitive political issues that cause intense division. This divisiveness has prevented any federal action from being taken to directly address the problem. However, it is important to set aside differences and to act in a pragmatic manner. Although some may not like it, it is clear that the increasing number of school shootings in the US is caused by a combination of weak gun control laws, and toxic masculinity. Guns are created to kill. They have been used in many mass shootings and in overwhelming cases, in school shootings. The crowdedness of school campuses make them lethal. It is also no secret that the United States is the wild west when it comes to guns. According to Samantha Gupta from the Harvard Political Review, American civilians own an astounding 270 million guns, more than the civilians of the 21 other countries that had school shootings own combined. That is enough guns to give 84% of the population one each. This is caused by lax gun control laws and the loopholes that exist within them. The failure of the US government to implement universal background checks and bans on certain types of guns and ammunitions have allowed potentially dangerous people access to lethal weapons. And these people wreak havoc. From Gupta again, Out of all these countries that have experienced a school shootingin the given time period, the average number of school shootings per firearmper capita is 0.111; America s average is over five times higher. Often, detractors will point to countries like Switzerland that have high levels of gun ownership yet have almost no school shootings. While the Swiss do have many guns, they are not allowed to possess ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
