Anatomy of reproductive
system
Male reproductive system
• Testicles
– Made up of
numerous coiled
seminiferous
tubules.
– Sperm is formed in
these tubes.
• Reproductive
ducts
– Epididymis: where
the spems
completes
maturation
– Vas deferens:
where sperm is
stored.
– Urethra: duct
Male reproductive system
• Glands
• Seminal vesicles: secretes seminal fluids.
• Prostate: prostatic fluid with substances that protects
the sperm
• Cowper’s glands: secretes lubricant to facilitate
penetration.
• Corpora cavernosa:
erectile tissue above
the urethra
• Corpus
spongiosum:
surrounds urethra and
widens at the end.
• Glans
• Foreskin
Male reproductive system
Female reproductive system
The uterus has a thick
muscular layer
myometrium. Gestation
occurs here.
Mucus membrane.
2 tubes which collect the ova released by
the ovaries. Fertilization occurs in these
tubes. Lubrication is secreted to help feed
the zygote.
