4. Computer system components. Peripherals – 1 hour
Operating system – types, work with Windows (Windows explorer,
Control Panel) – 2 hours;
The Microsoft Office package, the Word text-processing program
– 2 hours;
Browsers – types. Work with Internet Explorer – 1 hour
Internet communication tools:
◦ search engines, finding information – Google – 1 hour;
◦ email – 1 hour;
◦ instant messaging and real-time chat programs (Skype) – 1 hour
◦ social networks – Facebook – 1 hour
Monday through Friday, 2 training hours per day
5. The chitalishte library in Krivodol conducted 3
training courses in the period November 2011-
January 2012
- 18 users and patrons trained, of whom 17 aged
60+ and 1aged 43 years
One-on-one training:
- 2 trained users aged 35 and 38 years
6. Information literacy is compliant with main program objectives !
The basic computer literacy training is a challenge for the
elderly generation !
The number of people willing to be trained in the library
information center where they can combine duty with pleasure
is constantly growing !
The involvement of volunteers as trainers is indicative of direct
participation in and support to library activities and continuity
between the different generations !
All this is a proof of the transformation of the library in Krivodol
into a modern library and information center – a place providing
access to lifelong learning and inclusion of people of all ages in
the global information society.
