Spanish American Colonization
British American and Spanish America were born as a result of European exploration. Starting with
Spain in the 15th and 16th century, European superpowers began sending people to America to claim
lands and grow their mother country s wealth and power. Spanish people came over for wealth and
economic gain, while the British came for wealth, and to escape from persecution. When settled,
Spanish America functioned as a decentralized monarchy, with representatives of the Spanish King in
each colony. In British America, each group of colonies was governed by one of three systems: Royal,
Charter, and Proprietary. Both colonies engaged in slavery and the exploitation of natives and Africans
to work on plantations and mines to produce goods to send back to the mother country. England did
include their colonies in the Transatlantic trade system, however, Spain restricted trade from their
colonies to minimize the power the colonies had. Both of these strategies helped maintain power in the
mother countries because England was gaining wealth from its colonies resources, and Spain kept a
strong hold on its colonies by keeping them economically weak. The original cause of English
immigration to the New World the search for profit from from the lands of America. However, people
later left to escape persecution as they headed to the new land of opportunity. English immigration to
America in the 1600s started with the arrival of the colonists at Jamestown. The immigrants were

Cultural Impact Of The Harlem Renaissance
The Harlem Renaissance showed a bizarre cultural change that helped the image of Africans around
the world. The Renaissance s purpose was to project the rebirth of the African American arts. Though,
it originally wasn t known as the Harlem Renaissance, but instead called the Negro Renaissance by
Alain Locke. It all started with a insane migration of African Americans traveling north to pursue a
new future for themselves and their families. With Harlem being the focus of where most of the
African American migrate to, it also became where the America s culture shifted. The Harlem
Renaissance removed the old views of how blacks are supposed to be treated as slaves and gave them
a way to show that they aren t that different compared to other races.
Jazz was the creation of the combination of African rhythm and the European harmony. It was popular
enough to bring the attention of the whites towards the African American community. Soon enough,
people of all backgrounds were willing to cross into the Harlem community to enjoy the exotic music
jazz provides. With it s insane popularity, the term New Negro was created where the black cultural
community was able to establish a connection with New York s artistic mainstream. Hence it assisted
in breaking down the stereotype barrier that once separated the white and black community since the
founding of the United States. Joel Augustus Rogers, a journalist, believed that along with poetry,
music was one of the fine arts that penetrated the soul and bring out all the richness and sincerity of
the man (Asukile 24). However, the information of jazz did not become popular until Rogers wrote
Jazz at Home. For that reason Rogers stated, Locke included it in The New Negro (1925), which
became the cultural landmark anthology of the Harlem Renaissance (Asukile 23).
The popularity of jazz raised in the white community when Paul Whiteman introduced jazz orchestra
to them. Paul Whiteman s ability to take the best improvisations of jazz and coordinate it to jazz
orchestra gave him the title King of Jazz by white critics. Yet, Whiteman had declined the title for
King of Jazz . Whiteman believed that jazz was a African American invention and he did not have the

Tobacco s Burden Of Disease Essay
1. Tobacco s burden of disease
Tobacco use is widespread and has a heavy burden of disease . According to the U.S. department of
Health and Human Services [HHS], tobacco use is related to over 443,000 Americans death each year
and has caused approximately 8,860,000 related illnesses (2016). Thus causing it to have a higher
mortality rate than HIV, illegal drug use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined.
Tobacco use is thus one of the Nation s deadliest and most costly public health challenges (HHS,
2016). Tobacco can cause the onset of multiple diseases, for example, cancer, cardiovascular disease,
asthma, COPD, pregnancy complications, SIDS, and oral diseases (HHS, 2016). The prevalence of
tobacco use has been gradually decreasing since the nineteen sixty s, but even today tobacco use is
quite common.
2. The course of the disease: the concepts of incidence, prevalence, and case fatality.
The concepts of the course of disease are not fully relevant to the subject of tobacco, but can be
examined and applied in part. The concept of incidence is the rate of chance that a disease occurs over
a period time (Riegelman Kirkwood, 2015, p. 298). In other words, it is the rate of new cases of a
disease. For tobacco use, over two thousand teens and young adults become daily smokers each day in
the United States (CDC, 2015). The concept of prevalence in public health is the proportion of those
within a population at a set period of time that are afflicted

The Next Chapter of Peter Pan, My Darling Pan Essay
We flew throughout the night and only rested on a cloud to gaze at the beautiful sunrise. It was only
until we shot through the atmosphere and were then in space that I realised how far Peter s home was
from mine. Peter shot me a mischievous smile and when he turned around to look where he was going
again we started travelling at the speed of light. We looked like shooting stars as fairydust fell off of us
as we raced through the stars. Once we started to slow down I noticed a small orange planet glowing
in the distance. Surrounding it was a ring of gold dust of what I can only suspect to be fairydust. This

Negative Effects Of The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial revolution which lasted from the late 1700 s to the mid 1800 s had many effects on the
US in the 1700 s, 1800 s, and today. Led by inventors, workers, and big business owners the Industrial
revolution in America was a time period were the mechanization of agriculture and textile
manufacturing and the revolution of power sources began and innovated the manufacturing
possibilities in America. It began with the discovery of new inventions, and affected many people
from immigrants and cityfolk to the creators and owners of giant manufacturing companies. Since it
has quite a few positives and negatives the discussion of the Industrial revolution in the US and be
very split or controversial. The positives include economic growth and opportunity, helped
communities, urbanization and negatives include the loss of competition, the effects on workers and
conditions, and the loss of caring between social classes. The Industrial revolution had many positive
effects. The Industrial revolution had many positive effects on the US and its citizens. One major
positive effect of it was how the Industrial revolution is how it gave the US the ability to mass produce
manufactured goods inside the US which in turn helped the US economy (Doc 5) and (Doc 3). It
boosted the economy, because it increased the amount of people buying things from the US because it
was making a lot of products and it increased trade within. A second positive effect on the US was
how big businesses and manufacturers in cities would sometimes try to help the community it s in by
building houses and renting them out for cheap and it would employ many people so the size and
population of the community would increase, therefore increasing the diversity of it (Doc 2). Since the
owner would employ many and the rent was cheap, the workers and their families might have a
chance to, if the money is used wisely, increase in amount of money they have and possibly leave and
be higher in the social classes because of the industrial revolution. One final but still major positive
effect of it was how it caused the flow of people into cities otherwise known as urbanization, which
supplied the people needed for the factories and mills and urbanization caused

Chinese History And American History
I have been studying Chinese history for a long time, but the interesting phenomenon is in 5000 year
history of China, there is only one formal empress called Wu Zetian, and the amounts of emperors are
four hundred and eight. The percentage of women to be a leader of China is 0.25%. Nowadays, Hilary
Clinton has been reported by all the newspaper and TV shows, because she is the only woman who
has possibility to be the first female president. Comparing Chinese history and American history, it is
rare to see that the women become the decision maker of the country. Also there is an article points
that
Studies show that women in the United States often face doubts about their leadership and are judged
more harshly than men. Alice Eagly, who teaches management and psychology at Northwestern
University, points to studies showing that female college presidents and police chiefs face additional
criticism when they fail. (1)
After looking at these information, there are some questions suddenly popped in my head about
women in leadership. Why women have lower percentage of being a leader than man? Can women
achieve true equality?
Depending on the research, of all the people in parliament in the world, 13 percent are women. In the
corporate sector, women at the top, C level jobs, board seats tops out at 15, 16 percent. The numbers
have not moved since 2002 and are going in the wrong direction. (2) This information shows that
women are having hard time to achieve parity with

How Society Affects Obese People
How Does Society Affect Obese People? It is not necessary to be an expert to know that obese people
in our society are more likely to be excluded and prejudged on how well they can develop an activity.
The article Obesity, Bias and Stigmatization explains the different types of stigmas our society has
against obese people. Some of the discrimination methods the article mentions are verbal types such
as ridicule, teasing, insults, stereotypes, derogatory names or pejorative language. Physical
discrimination such as medical equipment that is too small for obese patients, chairs or seats in public
venues which do not accommodate obese persons, etc. The stigmatization of obese people occurs
every place, for example at work overweight people tend to be judged as lazy, less competent, and
slow in their assignments. These stereotypes are an obstacle for obese people, because they cannot be
promoted in their jobs. Also in school, students who are overweight are underrated by their
classmates, but worst by their teachers. Nobody thinks overweight people will be stigmatizing in a
hospital. Unfortunately doctors also prejudged people by their weight. (Obesity, Bias and
Stigmatization) The goal is to help doctors learn how to treat obesity . Patty Nece, a patient with
obesity problems, visited her doctor because her hip was aching, and the ... Show more content on

Being The Baby Of The Family
Being the baby of the family seems to automatically qualify me to be unaware of what the real world
is all about and the responsibilities of being an adult. For years I take insults my older sister, Jessica
who is now twenty three, would tell me because what she said was nothing but the truth. Like Jessica,
my father, Fernando, also nagged me about getting employed. Only my mother, Bertha, supported me
in not getting a job and rather focus fully on academics. Anger began to accumulate within me until
one day I simply could not support it anymore. Clearly to them I was a burden, which gave me that
extra inner fire to call and make my first ever job interview happen. Even with a job, though, all the
badgering would not seize.
Lets start from the beginning, where everything truly began. Years back Jessica began to rebel like any
other teen, never ending well. Seeing my parents suffer because of her made me realize that I did not
would not put them in that kind of situation. At a young age I began to act mature, responsible even,
but it seemed like a funny joke to them. Only at nine years of age I began to clean the house, cook
dinner, and still keep up with homework. Truthfully, I knew nothing about the adult problems, still did
not make me naïve about what was to come in my later years.
Vanessa, Jessica come sit down please. I want to tell you girls something, my father yelled at us from
the kitchen.
Jessica replied, What do you want?

Neuromyotonia Is An Extremely Unusual Disorder
Lexi Weinzettle
BIOL 2401
5/1/2017
Abstract
Neuromyotonia is an extremely unusual disorder, where impulsive motor unit are constantly firing and
activating the muscle fibers. Neuromyotonia has several symptoms but the most common ones are
muscle pains and twitching. The condition affects the voltage gated potassium channels, by reducing
the number of voltage gated potassium complex resulting in prolonged depolarization of the motor
nerve terminal and excessive acetylcholine release. Treatment depends on the varying symptoms from
person to person but usually people are prescribed with medication or undergo a plasma exchange.
Discussion

The chart below shows the electromyogram results from the study showing neuromyotonic discharges.
The discharges are the burst of spontaneous motor units as doublet, triplet, and multiplet release of
high intraburst frequency. These discharge were found in every patient, even the one who showed no
observable movement (Panagariya385).
Symptoms and Disease Characteristics
The most common features of Neuromyotonia is muscle stiffness, muscles contracting, twitching
muscles (myokymia), and weakened reflexes. These symptoms can be designated to a particular area,
usually the face and hands or throughout the body. Stiffness is mostly featured in the limbs and trunk
muscles. Observable symptoms include abnormal movements, pains and cramps. Behavioral changes
include disruptive sleep, excessive sweating, although these types of symptoms are uncommon.
Symptoms can occur during sleep and when under anesthesia. Muscle fiber excessive activity can lead
to muscle weakness or increase size of muscle cells known as hypertrophy (David, Firth, Cox 515).
Being diagnose with Neuromyonia ranges from a wide age range fifthteen to sixty, most people
experience signs before their forties (Maddison 2119).
Physiology of the Neuromuscular Disease
The voltage gated potassium complex are made of single ion pore with subunits. Located in the
postsynaptic fold. The voltage gated potassium complex has a significant amount of roles such

Figure 8 3 Shielded Twisted Pair Cable 110 Chapter 8: Network Media Types Although STP
prevents interference better than UTP, it is more expensive and difficult to install. In addition, the
metallic shielding must be grounded at both ends. If it is improperly grounded, the shield acts like an
antenna and picks up unwanted signals. Because of its cost and difficulty with termination, STP is
rarely used in Ethernet networks. STP is primarily used in Europe. The following summarizes the
features of STP cable: Speed and throughput 10 to 100 Mbps Average cost per node Moderately
expensive Media and connector size Medium to large Maximum cable length 100 m (short) When
comparing UTP and STP, keep the following points in mind: The speed of both types of cable is
usually satisfactory for local area distances. These are the least expensive media for data
communication. UTP is less expensive than STP. Because most buildings are already wired with UTP,
many transmission standards are adapted to use it, to avoid costly rewiring with an alternative cable
type. Coaxial Cable Coaxial cable consists of a hollow outer cylindrical conductor that surrounds a
single inner wire made of two conducting elements. One of these elements, located in the center of the
cable, is a copper conductor. Surrounding the copper conductor is a layer of flexible insulation. Over

The Aphorism Of My Life
My life is a spitting image of the aphorism, The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying
away small stones , by William Faulkner, because of the way I value myself and time. My life projects
this aphorism by showing that I often have to start from the very bottom to get to the top, and that I
encounter various situations. And it depicts that I have ambition and that hard work pays off. I am like
the man who removes the mountain by carrying small stones away. We all can not be handled the
Silver Spoon, we often have to start from the very bottom to get to the highest peak. I personally have
had to sit back and start all over from the beginning to redirect myself I the right path. For example, I

Literature Review Of Literature On Customer Satisfaction
Literature Review
Part One: Customer Satisfaction
2.1.1 Introduction to Customer Satisfaction:
Customer Satisfaction is one of the main topics rises recently. Before years there was a revelation of a
customer service to concentrate on customer, to treat with him in a better way, to please and fulfill his
demands of the customer. In order to achieve that, researchers analyzed the customer population then
took random samples and after that generalized the results and came with procedures to treat and
please the customers. The first thing is spark in the satisfaction of the customer concept added to the
private sector, later applied to the other sectors.
Customer satisfaction represents a set of business processes touching on all aspects of ... Show more

Cheefy defined it as the extent to which a customers expectations of product quality, service quality,
and price are met.
The reality of Customer Satisfaction is in the eyes of the beholder the customer. And all about how to
meet the expectation of those customers and even exceeding those expectations.
According to Business Dictionary definition it is the degree of satisfaction provided by the good or
service of a company as measured by the number of repeat customers.
Or it is the number of customers or percentage of total customers, whose reported experience with a
firm, its products, or its services (ratings) exceeds specified satisfaction goals. (Paul W. and others,
2010).
Customer satisfaction can be experienced in a variety of situations and connected to both goods and
services. It is a highly personal assessment that is greatly affected by customer expectations.
Satisfaction also is based on the customer s experience of both contacts with the organization and
personal outcomes.
Some researchers define a satisfied customer within the private sector as one who receives significant
added value to his/her bottom line a definition that may apply just as well to public services. (Cengiz,

Relationship Between The Relationship In Pirates Of The...
An important relationship that is shown in the visual text Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black
Pearl (2003), directed by Gore Verbinski was between two main characters, Captain Jack Sparrow and
Will Turner. Their relationship was one of the most important in the film as it shows us how these two
characters have changed their perspectives of the world and most importantly, towards each other.
There are several examples of how their relationship changes throughout. At the beginning of the film,
Jack considers Will as a lame commoner and Will was quite stereotypical about Jack being a pirate .
Their animosity and hatred were quite mutual given their respective backgrounds. As the movie
progresses, this relationship is more about one s own benefits. They realise and understand each other
s strengths and weaknesses well and use each other selfishly. Towards the end, this selfish attitude
matures into friendship. At the beginning of the film, Jack and Will had completely different opinions
about each other. Jack Sparrow, a clever, cunning and calculated man saw Will as a lay man and would
find it hard to believe that they would become friends. Pirates in those days or even today are
considered hard core criminals. Will being raised as a common man, irrespective of his past also think
the same. The Black Pearl being at the pinnacle of evilness people consider the pirates on that ship to
be the worst of mankind. The slightest hint that Jack Sparrow is associated with the

A Doll House Analysis
Simon Stephens modern adaption of the 1879 play by Henrik Ibsin, A Doll s House, has allowed for
audiences to experience the intense play in modern times. With Carrie Cracknell s effective use of
realism conventions and elements of drama, she has successfully displayed themes of deception to the
audience. The play follows the story of Nora Helmer, and all the interactions between 6 other
characters that follow while she maintains a major secret from her husband Torvald. The director
demonstrates combined use of elements of drama along with realism conventions to effectively
portray the themes of betrayal such as roles and relationships, use of the fourth wall, and personal
objects. Her effective use of these conventions has led to a brilliant adaption of the classic play A Doll
s House.
Cracknell s portrayal of Nora in the play is one of the clearest portrayals of betrayal. The role of her
character and her interactions with other characters gives the audience an insight to what her character
is like. Nora s close relationship with Doctor Rank is shown multiple times through the show, such as
this scene in act 2. Nora and Doctor Rank are left alone in the loungeroom, initially they speak about
his declining health and then progress to flirting with each other. Nora passes him her new stockings,
which is soon followed by Doctor Rank confessing his love for Nora. This interaction between the two
alone clearly shows the betrayal that Nora has committed on her husband as she

Effetiveness of Leadership and Management Development Is...
Introduction
The aim of this report is to use key elements of the management development cycle to evaluate
critically the claim that the effectiveness of leadership and management development is dependent on
the organisational strategy. In this case, the report provides a clear discourse on the reasons the
effectiveness of leadership and management development must be aligned to organisational strategy.
Therefore, the primary objective of this report is to argue that for leadership and management
development to be effective, they must be aligned with an organisational strategy. The report is
divided into three sections. The first section is about introduction. The second section is the body of
the report containing subsections. In this case, the subsections include definitions, objective and
purpose of the leadership and management development, effectiveness of leadership and management
development and its link to performance, leadership as a strategic process, talent management and its
link to management development cycle, performance measurement and assessment, and training and
development activities as parts of leadership and management development. The last section includes
a summary and conclusion of the report. It gives a recap of what is discussed in the report; it supports
the argument that to be effective, leadership and management development must be aligned with
organisational strategy.

which thwart their efforts to maintain a fleet of vehicles and drivers, who successfully pickup and drop
off cargo, in a timely, safely, and economical manner. What could go wrong? Vehicles break down.
Severe weather forces road closures. Drivers get lost. Trailers go missing. Accidents happen. Keeping
on top of everything a fleet needs is extremely difficult, however, GPS tracking systems, combined
with fleet management software allow fleet managers to track and monitor every aspect of their fleet s

Geofencing data notifies managers when a vehicle has been taken outside a predefined area. Drivers
realize that their behavior is being scrutinized when GPS systems are in effect. This knowledge alone,
can spur positive changes in driver behavior such as following the speed limit, wearing a seatbelt, or
reducing vehicle idling time.
Oversee Engine Performance
GPS tracking systems with onboard diagnostics trigger instant notifications when a vehicle has an
engine problem, or a transmission malfunction. The engine health data provided gives up to the
minute information, and includes:
Miles per Gallon
True engine speed
Battery life
Engine use hours
Odometer readings
Emissions
Idle times
Hard breaking and accelerations
A huge advantage of onboard diagnostics is its ability to warn of potential engine issues before the
vehicle completely breaks down. The warnings are provided via the use of diagnostic trouble code
(DTC) alerts which allows technicians to make informed decisions about the best actions to take.
Adhere to Maintenance Schedule
Preventive maintenance is considered by many, to be the single most import aspect of running a fleet.

Organizational values have recently been regaining importance, which is reflected in the fact that they
are commonly referred to as organizational foundations.
Indeed, practice has proved that those values provide the basis for decisionmaking at all levels of the
organization from senior management to the nonmanagerial employees. This paper addresses the issue
of communicating organizational values in managerial communication. In particular, communicating
organizational values to employees, customers and other stakeholders is discussed. It is concluded that

In the following sections, the ways of communicating organizational values to employees and
customers as well as to other stakeholders will be looked at. It should be noted that managerial
communication of organizational values can facilitate a more powerful communication and
implementation of organizational values within an organization.
2. DEFINITION OF ORGANIZATIONAL VALUES
Over two thousand years ago, in 431 B.C., Pericles in Ancient Greece eloquently urged the Athenians,
who were at war with the Spartans, to adhere to values such as those inherent in democracy:
informality in communication, the importance of individual dignity, and promotion based on
performance.
Pericles realized that the underlying values might mean victory or defeat
(Weihrich and Koontz, 1998; 333). Nevertheless, it was not until the 1970s that a systematic
investigation of organizational values started within the psychological approach represented by Milton
Rokeach, who defined a value as
an enduring belief that a specific mode of conduct or end state of existence is personally and socially
preferable to an opposite or converse mode of conduct or end state of existence (Rokeach, 1973; 5).
He also developed the first classification of values that was based on goals and means of their
achievement, wherein he distinguished terminal from instrumental values (Rokeach, 1973; 7),
defining them in the following way:
terminal values refer to desirable

Government Regulation By The Private Sector Essay
Introduction
Today, our nation is under constant attack by hackers, terrorist groups and other enemies.
Unfortunately regardless of how innovative our government or private sectors have become with
securing the network systems, the frequency and intensity of the attacks have only increased. Over the
last decade, security breaches and cyber attacks have highlighted how dependent our nation is on its
critical infrastructure. It was concluded that a total of 54% of cyber attacks targeted the US in 2013
(Watkins, n.d). Through experiences such as September 11, 2001, it has become apparent how
interconnected our infrastructure is and the exposure to targeted attacks we face as a nation (Katen,
2004). With the private industry owning over 85% of our nation s critical infrastructure, it is important
for the government to create and maintain regulations which should be followed by all agencies and
private sectors in order to protect our national security. There are several concerns about government
regulation by the private sector and how it will affect their consumers privacy and the company s
finances. However, the Cybersecurity Act of 2015 ensures user s privacy while sharing information
between companies and agencies. Furthermore, there are several effects on national security resulting
from failure to comply with government regulation, meeting only the minimum requirements and
exceeding the minimum requirement. With that being said, it has become part of the private

Deaf Culture Essays
Deaf Culture
Carolyn Mason
I was interested in immersing myself with this group because they are a community of people that I ve
often wondered about. I ve always wondered about the way they communicate with others and was it
hard being deaf or hearing impaired in some ways. As myself, I learned that most people feel
uncomfortable when meeting a Deaf person for the first time and this is very normal. When we
communicate with people, we generally don t have to think about the process. When faced with a Deaf
person, we are uncertain which rules apply. We don t know where to look, or how fast or loud to
speak. When the Deaf person gives us a look of confusion, we don t know how to correct the problem.

The deaf culture/community stands for shared beliefs, values, and behaviors of deaf or hard of hearing
people who use sign language as a primary means of communication and who are members of local
deaf communities. Historically, communities of deaf people have existed in most countries of the
world, each with a unique cultural heritage, and often, a distinct sign language.
In the United States, culturally deaf people are joined together by a common language (American Sign
Language, or ASL), a common history, and many common traditions. Most culturally deaf people are
deaf or hard of hearing from birth or a young age. They also grow up using sign language for most of
their lives. Between 21 million and 28 million people in the United States are hard of hearing or deaf.
However, only a relatively small number of people (between 100,000 and 200,000) consider
themselves culturally deaf. Most other deaf people either lose their hearing after childhood or grow up
without using sign as their primary language.
Culturally deaf people live throughout the United States. Particularly large communities of culturally
deaf people are found in and around such cities as Chicago, Illinois; New York City; San Francisco,
California; and Washington, D.C. Although they may not live together in the same neighborhoods,
they frequently socialize with one another and meet together at sign language events. Culturally deaf
people are recognized by the

Procrastination, Adaptive Perfectionism, Maladaptive, And...
This study used a correlational design to discover the relationship between procrastination, adaptive
perfectionism, maladaptive perfectionism and academic performance. Using the PPS and MPS scales
hundred and twenty five undergraduate university students filled out digital surveys online in
classrooms. There academic performance was measured through a test. Results suggest that
procrastination has a negative effect on academic performance, whereas adaptive perfectionism has a
positive one. Those who exhibit high levels of adaptive perfectionism exhibit lower levels of
procrastination. The results also suggest that those who exhibit high levels of maladaptive
perfectionism exhibit higher levels of procrastination.
It has been historically observed that those pursuing higher education often exhibit

different types, the positive adaptive perfectionism and the negative maladaptive

Mr. Dimayo
I agree that Unconventional Warfare (UW) activities support other Special Operations Core Activities.
You did mentioned Military Information Support Operations (MISO) during the American Civil War
accomplished by guerrilla fighters operating behind enemy lines spreading disinformation to the
enemy about troop strength and dispositions, disrupted Federal supply and communication lines, and
distracted contingents of troops. I find this interesting and I do wander what other Special Operation
Core Activities were employed as well.
You also mentioned the fact that in World War II guerrilla operations were of great importance in
supporting tactical objectives, and I agree with you but I it makes me think how can that be.

Personal Strengths And Personal Types
You have people all around the world and none of them are the same. You have people with high
tempers, you got the lazy people that don t ever do anything, and the over achievers and everyone is
about in the middle of those three. I have taken a personality test and learned that I have an Executive
personality type, if you do not know what that means I am like the boss in a business. This trait is held
by less than 11% of the population. I am stubborn, organized, and judgmental.
My personality showed that one of my weaknesses is stubbornness, for example they are reluctant to
trust other opinions . Sometimes being stubborn can be helpful and other times it can be hurtful, for
example if you want to go over to your friends house but your mom says no sometimes if you keep
trying she might say yes. Or like the other times she gets annoyed and tells you to go away. There are
three things that being stubborn makes harder for me: trying to be flexible, getting along with my
parents, and shopping. Trying to be flexible is hard because if my mom makes something for dinner
that I don t really like or that I just am not feeling, I will eat cereal or somethings else. Another reason
is trying to get along with my parents, because I always think that I am right and they are wrong. For
example if I want to go over to a friends house and they say no I give them reasons why I should go.
Then last shopping is especially hard because one I am stubborn so I don t settle. Being stubborn

The Achievement Of The Millennium Development Goals
Electrification is widely believed to contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development
Goals (MDGs), based on the assumption that sustainable access to modern energy services fosters
economic and social development, and leads to improvements in the quality of life. Yet, particularly in
rural Sub Saharan Africa electrification rates are still low, as not far beyond 36 % (as of international
study) of the population use electricity. In rural Ethiopia, the electrification rate is even considerably
lower. As part of the efforts to achieve the MDGs it is among the national policy priorities of most
countries to improve access to electricity be it via extension of the national grid or decentralized
electricity. The national target for Ethiopia, for example, is to augment the overall electrification rate
to 90 % by 2015 a lot times the rate in 1998 E.C. The international donor community joins these
efforts and has increased its support to the energy sector in general and electrification projects in
particular. As part of these international Endeavours s, World Bank, Bank of Arab for Economic
Development in Africa (BADEA), the Kuwait Fund, African Development Bank (AFDB) and bilateral
cooperation from development partner countries like Indian Government envisages the sustainable
provision of access to modern energy for rural community within the country. Against this background
of increasing interestinrural electrification, it is crucial to obtain a more solid basis

Music Therapy Personal Statement
When I went to college, I planned to be a musician. I spent my life studying music, and I was
passionate about composing music theory. I spent hours looking at the keys, and I explored different
methods to make unique sounds. I was required to take electives the first semester; I chose to take
psychology. My first essay demonstrated the psychological dynamics of music therapy. As I studied
psychology more in depth, the concepts paralleled those I studied in music theory. I began to examine
different theoretical approaches to understand various aspects of behavior. My interest in music as a
profession waned; I was obsessed with how the mind works and I decided to change my major to
psychology.

Critical Reflection Is Essential For Developing An...
Critical reflection is essential for developing an adaptive pedagogy in that critical reflection
encourages the sharing of knowledge, skills and experiences. Furthermore, critical reflective practice
is a form of ongoing learning that involves engaging with questions of philosophy, ethics and practice.
Additionally, documenting the daily events in the ECE sector is an important aspect of being a
professional and are a compulsory requirement for meeting the NCAC (2005) guidelines for high
quality early childhood education and care (National Childcare Accreditation Council, 2005.)
Therefore it is becoming increasingly important for practitioners to have the ability to critically reflect
on pedagogical practice and the development of child agency in effective learning contexts.
Pedagogies, which are reflected in elements of teaching actions and practices, such as types of
documentation and methods of grouping children, should be relevant to the context and consistent
with the service s philosophy and approaches to curriculum. This means that ...approaches and
pedagogies will differ from one setting to the next as they take into account staff and family
perspectives, the service philosophy and analysis of the context s potential and challenges... (USQ,
2016). As educators refine their philosophy they will also adjust pedagogies to reflect new approaches.
Understandings of children and childhood should lead practitioners to continuously investigate how
they transform approaches

Why Was The Magna Carta Created
King John ruled England at the beginning of the thirteenth century. Not only did he rule, but he ruled
with full power under the monarchial government. His choices were not fair. They triggered many
problems between foreign countries who were the country s tax payers, causing the people of England
s taxes to rise. Throughout a very long and winded process, the English barons became unhappier with
the decisions King John had been making. This is why the Magna Carta was created. The Magna
Carta is a document that was originally created in the year of 1215. This name is presented in the Latin
Language, meaning The Great Charter. A charter is a written endowment by a country s legislation by
which an institution, or in this case, government, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though this was true, they were directly produced to King John to stop his unfair rule. This
document is considered a landmark document because initially it only applied to the country of
England. It issued many important laws that are used today. It made sure that the cruel and unusual
punishments that were not forbidden became illegal. This is simply because of moral rights. Another
major clause in the Great Charter was that one person cannot be held responsible for a crime without a
trial by jury of his/her friends. Also, a major clause of the document is that justice should not be sold
or unnecessarily overdue. Throughout history, the Magna Carta was modified and sort of recreated .
By the twentieth century, only three major clauses remained in the document. The first clause granted
freedom to the Church of England. These churches are Christian Catholic with strong beliefs in their
religious rights. Furthermore, they guarantee the customs and liberties of the English city of London.
Lastly, they forbid uninformed arrest and the transaction of justice. Unlike most historical documents,
whether declaring freedom from a king or any other form of government, the Magna Carta has no
official copy. Each copy had at least three thousand six hundred words written exclusively. Only four
of the original copies are remaining today. Many different versions of the Magna Carta were
established between the years 1225 and 1297. Matter of fact, one original copy from 1217 recently
sold for 21.3 million

Becoming A Successful Baseball Player
Playing baseball and soccer has been something that is ordinary. There is no nervousness or anxiety
about playing, because I have been playing my whole life. There is something that comes with this.
Some say that you must be born with it, but I believe that it is developed. That something is
confidence. I am confident in almost everything that I do. When I step onto the baseball diamond,
there is a certain attitude that goes with it. To be successful in baseball, you must be confident. You
must think that you are better than the other player that you are facing. The entire team must exude a
feeling that you are more prepared and better equipped to win. In the summer of 2016, my tournament
baseball team won the state championship for Texas.

  • 3. Spanish American Colonization British American and Spanish America were born as a result of European exploration. Starting with Spain in the 15th and 16th century, European superpowers began sending people to America to claim lands and grow their mother country s wealth and power. Spanish people came over for wealth and economic gain, while the British came for wealth, and to escape from persecution. When settled, Spanish America functioned as a decentralized monarchy, with representatives of the Spanish King in each colony. In British America, each group of colonies was governed by one of three systems: Royal, Charter, and Proprietary. Both colonies engaged in slavery and the exploitation of natives and Africans to work on plantations and mines to produce goods to send back to the mother country. England did include their colonies in the Transatlantic trade system, however, Spain restricted trade from their colonies to minimize the power the colonies had. Both of these strategies helped maintain power in the mother countries because England was gaining wealth from its colonies resources, and Spain kept a strong hold on its colonies by keeping them economically weak. The original cause of English immigration to the New World the search for profit from from the lands of America. However, people later left to escape persecution as they headed to the new land of opportunity. English immigration to America in the 1600s started with the arrival of the colonists at Jamestown. The immigrants were Baptist and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Cultural Impact Of The Harlem Renaissance The Harlem Renaissance showed a bizarre cultural change that helped the image of Africans around the world. The Renaissance s purpose was to project the rebirth of the African American arts. Though, it originally wasn t known as the Harlem Renaissance, but instead called the Negro Renaissance by Alain Locke. It all started with a insane migration of African Americans traveling north to pursue a new future for themselves and their families. With Harlem being the focus of where most of the African American migrate to, it also became where the America s culture shifted. The Harlem Renaissance removed the old views of how blacks are supposed to be treated as slaves and gave them a way to show that they aren t that different compared to other races. Jazz was the creation of the combination of African rhythm and the European harmony. It was popular enough to bring the attention of the whites towards the African American community. Soon enough, people of all backgrounds were willing to cross into the Harlem community to enjoy the exotic music jazz provides. With it s insane popularity, the term New Negro was created where the black cultural community was able to establish a connection with New York s artistic mainstream. Hence it assisted in breaking down the stereotype barrier that once separated the white and black community since the founding of the United States. Joel Augustus Rogers, a journalist, believed that along with poetry, music was one of the fine arts that penetrated the soul and bring out all the richness and sincerity of the man (Asukile 24). However, the information of jazz did not become popular until Rogers wrote Jazz at Home. For that reason Rogers stated, Locke included it in The New Negro (1925), which became the cultural landmark anthology of the Harlem Renaissance (Asukile 23). The popularity of jazz raised in the white community when Paul Whiteman introduced jazz orchestra to them. Paul Whiteman s ability to take the best improvisations of jazz and coordinate it to jazz orchestra gave him the title King of Jazz by white critics. Yet, Whiteman had declined the title for King of Jazz . Whiteman believed that jazz was a African American invention and he did not have the ability to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Tobacco s Burden Of Disease Essay 1. Tobacco s burden of disease Tobacco use is widespread and has a heavy burden of disease . According to the U.S. department of Health and Human Services [HHS], tobacco use is related to over 443,000 Americans death each year and has caused approximately 8,860,000 related illnesses (2016). Thus causing it to have a higher mortality rate than HIV, illegal drug use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined. Tobacco use is thus one of the Nation s deadliest and most costly public health challenges (HHS, 2016). Tobacco can cause the onset of multiple diseases, for example, cancer, cardiovascular disease, asthma, COPD, pregnancy complications, SIDS, and oral diseases (HHS, 2016). The prevalence of tobacco use has been gradually decreasing since the nineteen sixty s, but even today tobacco use is quite common. 2. The course of the disease: the concepts of incidence, prevalence, and case fatality. The concepts of the course of disease are not fully relevant to the subject of tobacco, but can be examined and applied in part. The concept of incidence is the rate of chance that a disease occurs over a period time (Riegelman Kirkwood, 2015, p. 298). In other words, it is the rate of new cases of a disease. For tobacco use, over two thousand teens and young adults become daily smokers each day in the United States (CDC, 2015). The concept of prevalence in public health is the proportion of those within a population at a set period of time that are afflicted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We looked like shooting stars as fairydust fell off of us as we raced through the stars. Once we started to slow down I noticed a small orange planet glowing in the distance. The positives include economic growth and opportunity, helped communities, urbanization and negatives include the loss of competition, the effects on workers and conditions, and the loss of caring between social classes. The Industrial revolution had many positive effects. The Industrial revolution had many positive effects on the US and its citizens. One major positive effect of it was how the Industrial revolution is how it gave the US the ability to mass produce manufactured goods inside the US which in turn helped the US economy (Doc 5) and (Doc 3). It boosted the economy, because it increased the amount of people buying things from the US because it was making a lot of products and it increased trade within. A second positive effect on the US was how big businesses and manufacturers in cities would sometimes try to help the community it s in by building houses and renting them out for cheap and it would employ many people so the size and population of the community would increase, therefore increasing the diversity of it (Doc 2). Since the owner would employ many and the rent was cheap, the workers and their families might have a chance to, if the money is used wisely, increase in amount of money they have and possibly leave and be higher in the social classes because of the industrial revolution. • 8. Chinese History And American History I have been studying Chinese history for a long time, but the interesting phenomenon is in 5000 year history of China, there is only one formal empress called Wu Zetian, and the amounts of emperors are four hundred and eight. The percentage of women to be a leader of China is 0.25%. Nowadays, Hilary Clinton has been reported by all the newspaper and TV shows, because she is the only woman who has possibility to be the first female president. Comparing Chinese history and American history, it is rare to see that the women become the decision maker of the country. Also there is an article points that Studies show that women in the United States often face doubts about their leadership and are judged more harshly than men. Alice Eagly, who teaches management and psychology at Northwestern University, points to studies showing that female college presidents and police chiefs face additional criticism when they fail. (1) After looking at these information, there are some questions suddenly popped in my head about women in leadership. Why women have lower percentage of being a leader than man? Can women achieve true equality? Depending on the research, of all the people in parliament in the world, 13 percent are women. In the corporate sector, women at the top, C level jobs, board seats tops out at 15, 16 percent. The numbers have not moved since 2002 and are going in the wrong direction. It is not necessary to be an expert to know that obese people in our society are more likely to be excluded and prejudged on how well they can develop an activity. The article Obesity, Bias and Stigmatization explains the different types of stigmas our society has against obese people. Some of the discrimination methods the article mentions are verbal types such as ridicule, teasing, insults, stereotypes, derogatory names or pejorative language. Physical discrimination such as medical equipment that is too small for obese patients, chairs or seats in public venues which do not accommodate obese persons, etc. The stigmatization of obese people occurs every place, for example at work overweight people tend to be judged as lazy, less competent, and slow in their assignments. These stereotypes are an obstacle for obese people, because they cannot be promoted in their jobs. Also in school, students who are overweight are underrated by their classmates, but worst by their teachers. Nobody thinks overweight people will be stigmatizing in a hospital. For years I take insults my older sister, Jessica who is now twenty three, would tell me because what she said was nothing but the truth. Like Jessica, my father, Fernando, also nagged me about getting employed. Only my mother, Bertha, supported me in not getting a job and rather focus fully on academics. Anger began to accumulate within me until one day I simply could not support it anymore. Clearly to them I was a burden, which gave me that extra inner fire to call and make my first ever job interview happen. Even with a job, though, all the badgering would not seize. Lets start from the beginning, where everything truly began. Years back Jessica began to rebel like any other teen, never ending well. Seeing my parents suffer because of her made me realize that I did not would not put them in that kind of situation. At a young age I began to act mature, responsible even, but it seemed like a funny joke to them. Only at nine years of age I began to clean the house, cook dinner, and still keep up with homework. Truthfully, I knew nothing about the adult problems, still did not make me naïve about what was to come in my later years. Vanessa, Jessica come sit down please. Neuromyotonia Is An Extremely Unusual Disorder Lexi Weinzettle BIOL 2401 5/1/2017 Abstract Neuromyotonia is an extremely unusual disorder, where impulsive motor unit are constantly firing and activating the muscle fibers. Neuromyotonia has several symptoms but the most common ones are muscle pains and twitching. The condition affects the voltage gated potassium channels, by reducing the number of voltage gated potassium complex resulting in prolonged depolarization of the motor nerve terminal and excessive acetylcholine release. Treatment depends on the varying symptoms from person to person but usually people are prescribed with medication or undergo a plasma exchange. The chart below shows the electromyogram results from the study showing neuromyotonic discharges. The discharges are the burst of spontaneous motor units as doublet, triplet, and multiplet release of high intraburst frequency. These discharge were found in every patient, even the one who showed no observable movement (Panagariya385). Symptoms and Disease Characteristics The most common features of Neuromyotonia is muscle stiffness, muscles contracting, twitching muscles (myokymia), and weakened reflexes. These symptoms can be designated to a particular area, usually the face and hands or throughout the body. Stiffness is mostly featured in the limbs and trunk muscles. Observable symptoms include abnormal movements, pains and cramps. Behavioral changes include disruptive sleep, excessive sweating, although these types of symptoms are uncommon. Symptoms can occur during sleep and when under anesthesia. Muscle fiber excessive activity can lead to muscle weakness or increase size of muscle cells known as hypertrophy (David, Firth, Cox 515). Being diagnose with Neuromyonia ranges from a wide age range fifthteen to sixty, most people experience signs before their forties (Maddison 2119). Figure 8 3 Shielded Twisted Pair Cable 110 Chapter 8: Network Media Types Although STP prevents interference better than UTP, it is more expensive and difficult to install. In addition, the metallic shielding must be grounded at both ends. If it is improperly grounded, the shield acts like an antenna and picks up unwanted signals. Because of its cost and difficulty with termination, STP is rarely used in Ethernet networks. STP is primarily used in Europe. The following summarizes the features of STP cable: Speed and throughput 10 to 100 Mbps Average cost per node Moderately expensive Media and connector size Medium to large Maximum cable length 100 m (short) When comparing UTP and STP, keep the following points in mind: The speed of both types of cable is usually satisfactory for local area distances. These are the least expensive media for data communication. UTP is less expensive than STP. Because most buildings are already wired with UTP, many transmission standards are adapted to use it, to avoid costly rewiring with an alternative cable type. Coaxial Cable Coaxial cable consists of a hollow outer cylindrical conductor that surrounds a single inner wire made of two conducting elements. One of these elements, located in the center of the cable, is a copper conductor. Surrounding the copper conductor is a layer of flexible insulation. Over this insulating ... An important relationship that is shown in the visual text Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), directed by Gore Verbinski was between two main characters, Captain Jack Sparrow and Will Turner. Their relationship was one of the most important in the film as it shows us how these two characters have changed their perspectives of the world and most importantly, towards each other. There are several examples of how their relationship changes throughout. At the beginning of the film, Jack considers Will as a lame commoner and Will was quite stereotypical about Jack being a pirate . Their animosity and hatred were quite mutual given their respective backgrounds. As the movie progresses, this relationship is more about one s own benefits. They realise and understand each other s strengths and weaknesses well and use each other selfishly. Towards the end, this selfish attitude matures into friendship. At the beginning of the film, Jack and Will had completely different opinions about each other. Jack Sparrow, a clever, cunning and calculated man saw Will as a lay man and would find it hard to believe that they would become friends. Pirates in those days or even today are considered hard core criminals. Will being raised as a common man, irrespective of his past also think the same. The Black Pearl being at the pinnacle of evilness people consider the pirates on that ship to be the worst of mankind. The slightest hint that Jack Sparrow is associated with the ... With Carrie Cracknell s effective use of realism conventions and elements of drama, she has successfully displayed themes of deception to the audience. The play follows the story of Nora Helmer, and all the interactions between 6 other characters that follow while she maintains a major secret from her husband Torvald. The director demonstrates combined use of elements of drama along with realism conventions to effectively portray the themes of betrayal such as roles and relationships, use of the fourth wall, and personal objects. Her effective use of these conventions has led to a brilliant adaption of the classic play A Doll s House. Cracknell s portrayal of Nora in the play is one of the clearest portrayals of betrayal. The role of her character and her interactions with other characters gives the audience an insight to what her character is like. Nora s close relationship with Doctor Rank is shown multiple times through the show, such as this scene in act 2. Nora and Doctor Rank are left alone in the loungeroom, initially they speak about his declining health and then progress to flirting with each other. Nora passes him her new stockings, which is soon followed by Doctor Rank confessing his love for Nora. DEFINITION OF ORGANIZATIONAL VALUES Over two thousand years ago, in 431 B.C., Pericles in Ancient Greece eloquently urged the Athenians, who were at war with the Spartans, to adhere to values such as those inherent in democracy: informality in communication, the importance of individual dignity, and promotion based on performance. Pericles realized that the underlying values might mean victory or defeat (Weihrich and Koontz, 1998; 333). Nevertheless, it was not until the 1970s that a systematic investigation of organizational values started within the psychological approach represented by Milton Rokeach, who defined a value as an enduring belief that a specific mode of conduct or end state of existence is personally and socially preferable to an opposite or converse mode of conduct or end state of existence (Rokeach, 1973; 5). It was concluded that a total of 54% of cyber attacks targeted the US in 2013 (Watkins, n.d). Through experiences such as September 11, 2001, it has become apparent how interconnected our infrastructure is and the exposure to targeted attacks we face as a nation (Katen, 2004). With the private industry owning over 85% of our nation s critical infrastructure, it is important for the government to create and maintain regulations which should be followed by all agencies and private sectors in order to protect our national security. There are several concerns about government regulation by the private sector and how it will affect their consumers privacy and the company s finances. However, the Cybersecurity Act of 2015 ensures user s privacy while sharing information between companies and agencies.
