How Does the Scarlet Letter Comment on Religion in...
Religion is the name given to a relationship with God, and different groups of people have different
Gods and belief systems (Terhart Schulze, 2008). Today there are 313 religions and denominations in
the United States; from monotheists who believe in one God, to polytheists who believe in many
Gods, to others who believe in no God, or a God as represented by animal spirits, alien groups, or
psychoactive substances (ProCon.org, 2008). Christianity was the first religion that was brought to the
world by European settlers and it became dominant religion of the United States throughout its
history. Although Puritan practices was accepted under the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, both James I
and Charles I believed that their authority had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore this essay will describe how the characters, setting and themes in the Scarlet letter comment
on the religion in America by exploring the scene of puritan morality, scaffold and through the
interpretation of the Scarlet Letter A .
According Puritan moral values, one is guilty of adultery if married man or woman had a sexual
relationship with a person who is not their wife or husband. The situation becomes worse when
women bear an illegitimate child and such behavior is considered as one of the sinful acts in the
Puritan society. The protagonist and the bearer of the scarlet letter A signify that Hester Prynne is an
adulterer. Hester was married to an elderly scholar, Roger Chillingworth who sent her ahead to
America to live but never followed her. While waiting for him, she had an affair with a Puritan
minister named Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, after which gave birth to Pearl. Hester giving birth to
Pearl became an attention of that Puritan society and she was humiliated in the public where she
showed her faults to the world without revealing the names of Pearl s father. Mr. Wilson said, Speak
out the name! That, and thy repentance, may avail to take the scarlet letter off thy breast. Never!
replied Hester Prynne. It is too deeply branded. Ye cannot take it off. And would that I might endure
his agony, as well as mine! (Hawthorne, p 58). Unwillingness to reveal the name of Pearl s father by
Hester shows the strength and

Nicola Sacco Essay
In this world, anything can happen. We can drive, text, and be framed for murder. Yeah, being framed
for murder. That s what happened to Nicola Sacco. We should start at the beginning.
Nicola Sacco was born in the Italian town of Torremaggiore on 22nd April, 1891. He emigrated to the
United States when he was seventeen. Sacco found work in a shoe factory in Stoughton,
Massachusetts. He got married and started a family. Sacco also became involved in left wing politics
and at one anarchist gathering met Bartolomeo Vanzetti, an Italian immigrant working as a fish
peddler in Plymouth. Like many left wing radicals, Sacco and Vanzetti were opposed to the First
World War. They took part in protest meetings and in 1917, when the United States ... Show more

He also named the four other men, Joe, Fred, Pasquale and Mike Morelli, who had taken part in the
robbery. The Morelli brothers were well known criminals who had carried out similar robberies in area
of Massachusetts. However, the authorities refused to investigate the confession made by Madeiros.
Many leading writers and artists became involved in a campaign to obtain a retrial. Although, Webster
Thayer, the original judge, was officially criticised for his conduct at the trial, the authorities refused
to overrule the decision to execute the men. By the summer of 1927 it became clear that Sacco and
Bartolomeo Vanzetti would be executed. On 23rd August 1927, the day of execution, over 250,000
people took part in a silent demonstration in Boston. Soon after the executions, Eugene Lyons
published his book, The Life and Death of Sacco and Vanzetti. Fifty years later, on 23rd August, 1977,
Michael Dukakis, the Governor of Massachusetts, issued a proclamation, effectively absolving the two
men of the crime.
From beginning to end, Nicola Sacco had been blamed for murder. This is the world we live in. A
world where someone can t be free until after death. A world where we discriminate other for being

The Next Phase Of Ending The Cold War Essay
The Next Phase in Ending the Cold War
The date is October 27, 1962, and it is a brisk fall day in Michigan. Normally, I could hear children
playing outside of my office window but not today. Today, all that I can hear is wind passing through
the city and the feeling of despair resonates throughout the populace. The blockade went up two days
ago and I want to believe that it will be enough to subdue the U.S.S.R. forces but I am unsure if the
blockade will hold. President Kennedy is entirely against using first strike measures because he does
not want to enter another unnecessary war, however most citizens have lived in a state of panic and
distress. The citizens believe that the strikes would be bad, but they would end the restlessness that
can be felt even in the smallest of children. The biggest conversation politically is that President
Kennedy is not fit to be president of the United States of America, due to his age and the recent
failure, The Bay of Pigs .
Conflict between Cuba, U.S.S.R, and the United States present two conclusions: These nations begin a
nuclear war with few to none survivors or these nations do not participate in a nuclear war and
everyone lives. I have been tasked with dealing with two scenarios: The first scenario is if we decided
to strike Cuba, what does the day after look like. The second scenario is that if we wait and the United
States is hit with a nuclear weapon from Cuba, what does October 28, 1962, look like for an average
American.

Religious Affiliation Helps Individuals With Constructing...
Religious affiliation helps individuals with constructing moral ideologies. An individual s religiosity is
often associated with their political viewpoints. Church attendance can effect individuals political
beliefs.
During 1970 to 2012, the percentage of the populace attending church weekly has decrease from 38%
to 21%, and never attending church increased dramatically from 12% to 43%. This trend displays the
decreasing number of people who are attending church services in the United States. Furthermore, the
number of people with no religious affiliation has increased from 1% in 1960 to 13% in 1996.
Although the percent of individuals who identify as Christian is high with 49% Protestant and 22%
Catholic, religious beliefs have overall decreased. The people who are religious say their religion
plays an important part of their life. 67% believe that their religion is an important factor in their life
(ANES 2015). The data shows that although the number of religiosity in the United States has
lowered, religion still plays a large part of American life.
Their religious convictions lead those to vote in particular patterns. According to the table below,
Catholics are 37% Republican/lean Republican and 69% Democrat/ lean Democrat. Evangelical
Protestant are 56% Republican/lean Republican and 28% Democrat/lean Democrat. Compared with

The Abuse Of Alcohol On Purim Essay
1 Introduction
1.1 Hypothesis
The abuse of alcohol on Purim in South Africa results in a complacent attitude towards drinking in
Jewish teenagers.
1.2 Aim
To determine if: the abuse of alcohol on Purim in South Africa results in a complacent attitude towards
drinking in Jewish teenagers.
1.3 Significance of research
I am a Jewish boy, going to a Jewish school. In my 17 years of life, I have been exposed to many of
my Rabbis, friend s parents and youth councilors getting drunk on religious occasions, especially on
Purim. This has seemed to have an effect on my peers who not only get drunk on religious occasions
but take every opportunity they can to have a drink. For long it has bothered me if there is a
correlation between the adult s abuse of alcohol on Purim and the complacent attitude my friends have
towards the seriousness of alcohol abuse.
Purim is an annual Jewish festival which commemorates the savior of the Jewish people from the
wicked decrees of the Secretary General of Persia, Haman, during the first exile. There are many
commandments pertaining to the day, however, the focus for this research is the commandment found
in the Talmud Bavli, tractate Megilla: a man is commanded to get drunk (on Purim) until he does not
know the difference between cursed is Haman and blessed is Mordecai .
Although there are some commentators who interpret this literally, most expound this to mean that
you should drink more than you are used to and then sleep to fulfill the

Christianity In Beowulf Essay
In the epic Beowulf, there were references to both paganism and Christianity. Many people are aware
of Christianity, but some may find paganism more difficult to comprehend because they aren t
completely aware of what it is. To clarify, paganism is a religion that was practiced during and after
the Middle Ages when the monks orally performed epics, such as Beowulf. Pagans do not worship one
God, but instead they worship several gods, often referred to as polytheism. Pagans also base their
religion and practices off of nature, their cultural backgrounds, or their location. They believe that all
natural objects own souls and that humans should live in harmony with nature as well. In Beowulf, we
were introduced to a civilization that originally worshiped pagan gods but had recently converted to
Christianity. However, we can clearly observe in section two of the epic that the poet(s) of the epic
were not completely trustful of either religion. This causes me to interpret that the civilians during that
time may have obtained mixed feelings about the varied religions. It also reveals that the civilians may
have been curious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christianity began among a few Jews who refused to worship various Roman gods. It wasn t until the
Middle Ages that Christianity became more widespread. The Pope of Rome is credited with playing a
large role in the transformation of the Anglo Saxon community from paganism to Christianity. Some
children at the time were even encouraged to become nuns or monks. The boys who were taught to be
monks read biblical scriptures and strengthened their faith in God. Monks, such as those young boys,
practiced the worship of God which is why they likely added Christian values to Beowulf while they
transcribed Beowulf. The objective of a monk is to influence and persuade other civilians to believe in
God, thus being another reason to add Christian values to the text of

Comparing Of Mice And Men
What if killing someone was good? What if the death of your child was the only to cure you? The
books Of Mice and Men and The Pearl are both thought provoking stories that were brilliantly
authored by Jordan Steinbeck, and both of stories address this topic. Of Mice and Men tells the story
of two workers in the Salinas Valley, while The Pearl tells a parabolic story, about a poor fisherman
working to save his child. Both stories tell touching, and quite frankly, heart breaking stories about
what types of sacrifices must be made for the greater good. While both of these books are extremely
similar in resolution, both of them share a multitude of systematic differences, especially when it
comes to central women characters.. The Pearl is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lennie and George are best friends, and almost family. Lennie is simple minded, and when he touches
a girl s hair, he pulls it by accident and to keep her from screaming he bounced her up and down, and
he.. snapped her neck. As a result of this, Lennie runs into the bush, and waits for George to help him.
George realizes that Lennie will be chased and locked up, he realizes that in order to help his friend,
he must kill him. When George finally saves his friend, his friend realizes he did the right thing and
says, You hadda, George. I swear you hadda. Equivalently to The Pearl, in order to save someone, the
ultimate sacrifice had to be made. Divergently The Pearl, women play a very different role in Of Mice
and Men. Curley s Wife, who is so unimportant that she remains unnamed, has a wandering eye, due
to the fact that she relies on Curley, and that she is confined to her house. Curley s Wife talks about
how she had a missed opportunity, and she says her mother says because I was on y fifteen [She

How Did The Mafia Come To Power
As the mafia became more established they began to take control of the government. By 1880 they
had made their way into positions within the government as well as in the army and police forces.
While in these positions of power they practiced coercion, and turned to crime to maintain their
power. During the 1876 political campaign, Mafia Don Rafael Palizzolo made his way into office by
forcing people to vote for him by threat of death. When he took control he quickly appointed other
members of his mafia to office where they began to embezzle money from the Italian government.

The Italian Mafia was originally founded on a sense of loyalty and respect for culture, family and the
Sicilian heritage. The Mafia was meant to protect its members interests while granting them freedom
in exchange for absolute loyalty and submission to the family. The Sicilian Mafia was based on the
belief that justice, honor, and vengeance are for a man to take care of, not for a government to take
control of. The Sicilian mafia followed a code called om erta , which was a code of honor, silence and
strictly adhered to the ruling that this was a secret society, open only to those who had Sicilian blood.
In contrast to the humble beginnings of the Sicilian mafia, the American mafia has proved to be a
conniving, cold hearted organization. The American Mafia consists of a large group of glorified
thieves, pickpockets and murderers. Although it began with the adoption of much of the Sicilian
heritage it has evolved into an organization that s sole purpose is to make money using any illegal

Characteristics Of A Tuna Sandwich
A tuna sandwich is full of important macronutrients needed for your body. Carbohydrates, proteins
and lipids can be found in all of the ingredients in varying amounts. Grain from the bread provides
carbohydrates, while proteins can be found in the tuna, lettuce, tomato and cheese of the sandwich.
Lipids are represented in the cheese and mayo. All food groups are represented in the sandwich, with
the exception of fruits. The function of digestion is to break down and transport nutrients from the
food to their respected destination within the body as they are added through the lymphatic system and
the blood stream. Major organs involved in digestion are the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small and
large intestine and the rectum. The salivary glands, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder are assisting
organs in the digestion process.
Ingestion starts the digestion process starts in the mouth. As you begin to take a bite of the tuna
sandwich, the smell triggers the salivary glands to start producing saliva. The saliva in the mouth from
the salivary glands contains the enzymes amylase, which starts the digestion of carbohydrates and
starches. Saliva also releases lingual lipase which begins the digestion of fats or lipids. As the food is
chewed and mixed with saliva, the food turns into bolus. This new form of the once sandwich will
help it travel through the GI Tract to be further digested.

The Theology Of The Transcendental Model
that is an uncritical process. On the contrary, as this dialogue occurs, there is a critical analysis going
on. According to Bevans the importance of this dialogue is that the contextual theology that rises is
unique. Unfortunately, the constant threat of this model is that gospel and Tradition can be watered
down and lose their prophetic nature. As consequence of being diluted and losing its identity, the
gospel may also lose its transforming power.
The Transcendental Model
This model is the most difficult to understand. Because, though it seems very anthropological, it is
contingent to an inner human experience. This model depends on affective and cognitive events. In
other words, reality is not something external to be grasped, but it is within ourselves. However,
though in the beginning this exercise seems to rely on a personal or individual activity, this model is
highly communal. Thus, these transcendental events are generated through the person s interaction
with the community. In this model, the closer the person is to his/her local culture the more prepare
s/he will be to theologize. This model opens the way for what Schreiter calls the poet or local voices.
According to Bevans, this model opens the exercise of theologizing to non professional theologians.
Consequently, theology can be found in songs, art and other expressions. A second strength, this
model is not focused on finding the correct answer out there , but it is the authentication of the inner

Use of Attics in Literature Essay
The Phenomenology of Space Attic Memories and Secrets
Since Gilbert and Gubar s The Madwoman in the Attic, critics have assumed that attics house
madwomen. But they use that concept as a metaphor for their thesis, that women writers were isolated
and treated with approbation. In most literature, attics are dark, dusty, seldom visited storage areas,
like that of the Tulliver house in The Mill on the Floss a great attic under the old high pitched roof,
with worm eaten floors, worm eaten shelves, and dark rafters festooned with cobwebs a place thought
to be weird and ghostly. Attics do not house humans (not even mad ones) they warehouse artifacts that

Attics make us think of history, interesting artifacts, old toys, books, clothes, linens, jewelry, and other
treasures but, most of all, of deep, dark, and significant family secrets. It was in the attic of the house
that I grew up in that, as a snooping teenager, I found the packet of letters from my mother to her first
husband. Her FIRST husband. I had never dreamed that she had had but one husband my father. And
had I not ferreted out those letters, I probably still would not know. Then, that night, my father took
me aside I m sure at my mother s urging and confessed that he too had been married and divorced
before he met my mother. Whether particular attics hide such secrets hardly matters. What matters is
that psychologically we believe that they do. In fact, attics frequently house just the sort of
information I unearthed facts that one is too attached to to throw away, but which one very much
wants to remain secret.
Before a discussion of attics can begin, it is essential to define what is meant by attic and to
distinguish attics from upper rooms. Not all third floor spaces are attics, because many larger houses
have and had third floor rooms that were normal living spaces, sometimeshaving bedrooms and
sometimes having a huge, finished room used for balls and other parties. Such rooms were furnished,
and comfortably habitable. Such is the case with a room that is often cited as an attic that incarcerates
a madwoman, the upper room in The

The Mystery Of Economic Growth
Introduction: Economists have always been asked why and how economic growth exists in a world
filled with so much disparity between the richest and the poorest. First we need to define economic
growth as that which is measured by change in real income per capita(Parker, 2015). Arguably Adam
Smith was one of the first economists to develop a sound theory of the classical free market in his
piece The Wealth of Nations written in 1776. Much has changed since the 1700s across the world
horizons. Things aren t as simplistic as we once thought they were. Some countries have gained
exorbitant amounts of wealth, while others have withered away at the expense of the more privileged.
So lies the question of whether or not we can compensate the ... Show more content on

More specifically, countries that focus on physical and human capital accumulation and improving
their total factor productivity should continue to see sustained growth as long as they continue to
innovate. Innovation and constant change is key in order to keep an economy growing. Information is
one resource in this world that we could define as infinite. An economy with an infinite amount of
supply in theory is an economy that will continue to grow. Ultimately, Helpman concludes that
understanding institutions are the missing key to truly understanding growth economics. In this case
we can take the United States, Argentina, South Africa, and South Korea, and compare specific
variables such as investment in education to more accurately predict future growth. Further analyses
of these countries using Helpman s models are done in the Data section below.
Essentially, Elhanan Helpman argues that GDP is a far too simplistic tool used for measuring
economic growth. Instead we should use a total factor productivity or TFP for short to measure an
economy s strength. TFP takes into account confounding variables that make each country unique and
would in most cases skew GDP. There are too many determinants in a country that factor into
economic grow, and many more indirect determinants or exogenous factors that can sometimes skew
measurements. Each country in the world is unique in every way imaginable. Helpman argues that

Data Mining, Partition Based Clustering
Abstract Nowadays, Popularity of Internet and wide improvement in enterprise information is leading
to vast research in text and data mining, and information filtering. So, the cluster technology is
becoming the core of text mining. Clustering is an important form of data mining. Clustering is a
process of grouping similar sets of data into a group, called clusters. This paper comprises of text
clustering algorithms, also analysis and comparison of the algorithms are done with respect to the
applicable scope, the initial parameters , size of dataset, accuracy, dimensionality, cluster shape and
noise sensitivity. Algorithms are classified as partitioned based clustering, hierarchical clustering,
density based , self organizing maps and fuzzy clustering techniques. The brief idea of each clustering
technique is mentioned in this paper.
Keywords Clustering, Data mining, partition based clustering, hierarchical based clustering, density
based clustering.
I. INTRODUCTION
Wide range of data is collected in different databases because of advanced techniques of data
collection. The demand for grouping the valuable data and extracting only the useful information from
data is increased. Clustering is the distribution of data into groups of identical objects which has
similarity within the cluster and dissimilarity with the objects in the other groups [2]. Cluster analysis
is the arrangement of a set of data into clusters of similar patterns [5]. Data within the same cluster are

Stressed Out Music Video Analysis
On May 15th, 2015, twenty one pilots released their second album Blurryface, which features the song
Stressed Out. The song itself was released earlier than the actual album and the music video was
published on April 27th, 2015. While the title can be very misleading about certain aspects, the song
and the music video do a very good job of representing mental disability. The music video starts out
with band member Tyler Joseph riding a tricycle, starting the repetitive focus on childhood aspects.
Throughout the entire video, both boys ride around on tricycles, drink juice pouches, and travel

ATOM Risk Management Paper
Risk management needs to be an ongoing process, occurring throughout the project, because of the
ever changing aspect of risk. ATOM process includes both major and minor reviews to maintain the
vigilance required when dealing with project risk. Major reviews are designed to occur at key points in
the project to review the status of the risks and to evaluate the actions taken. Reviews evaluate the
effectiveness of the risk plan and make changes to that plan to keep up with the changes in the risks.
The major review is scheduled for major milestone points in the project, identified as part of the risk.
management plan. The risk register should have all the current information about the risks when the
review begins. In addition, the project manager will provide information with regards to the project
status and the review point. The risks will be reviewed with regards to their status, changes in
probability or impact, and the actions described for the risks. Any new risks will be assessed and
actions will be identified. Because risk needs to be monitored throughout the project and not just at
major points, our process would contain provisions for minor reviews too. Minor reviews are designed
to fill the gap between the initial risk assessment and the major review and to be ongoing throughout
the project. It carries out the reviews of the major review on a less detailed scale. After a review of
both, an updated risk register is produced. Updates to the project plan to better manage potential risks
may also be an outcome of the review. We will have risk review meetings also. Performance

Interpreter Of Maladies
Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri
Through her tasteful selection of contemporary Indian influenced prose pieces, Jhumpa Lahiri traces
the unique journey of Indian families established in America. Focusing on the intergenerational aspect
of traditional households, Lahiri conveys the emotional rollercoaster that accompanies a person who is
branded as a foreigner. In America, there exists a common misconception that immigrants who arrive
in this country fully assimilate or seek to assimilate as time progresses. The category I chose was The
Dot of true Happiness. The dot which signifies the bindi, a traditional red mark worn by Indian
people, is the source of true happiness among these immigrants.
Although these newly arrived ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, in the piece When Mr. Pirzada Came to Dine, a young girl observes and appreciates from a
far a family friend who recently arrived from India. It is evident that in a short period of time he has
assimilated to the everyday American lifestyle. He has an established career as a professor and is
invited to dinner parties on a regular basis by the Lilia s family. Yet this supposed success through
assimilation is not where Mr, Pirzada finds satisfaction. Although his family is suffering in Dacca after
a war time crisis, Pirzada is still able to find some sort of satisfaction at Lilia s house as he participates
in Indian influenced activities. He plays a round of carom with the family, and chews on fennel seeds,
as he experiences moments of happiness among the thoughts of the death of his family back home.
Although stories like these are obvious in their presentation of the nostalgia

manner. The two pieces, The Treatment of Bibi Haldar and The Third and Final Continent both
compare and contrast the role marriage plays within the Indian and American communities by
observing a transnational couple and a young woman in India who longs to be married.

Overview Of A Experiment On The Alcohol-Water Experiment
Analysis The aim of the extended experimental investigation was to conduct an experiment, and
observe whether it would support or oppose the hypothesis of: As the temperature is increased, then
the volume of the Alcohol Water solution will contract accordingly, due to the input of thermal energy
in the solution which will cause the hydrogen bonds to break and cause the volume of the alcohol
water solution to contract. The experiments involved increasing the temperature of a 10 ml alcohol (5
ml Ethanol, 5 ml Isopropanol) and water (5ml) solution, and measuring the contraction of the
solutions after a period of time. With both experiments, contraction was present with the alcohol
(ethanol, isopropanol) and water solution. The first of the tests conducted was the contraction of the
Isopropanol water solution. The 10 ml solution, consisting of 5ml Isopropanol and 5 ml water had
total contractions between 0.3 and 0.4 ml during the selected testing time period. Initially, the
solutions decreased by a total of 0.4 and 0.6 ml. The general trend with the initial contraction of the
solutions is that the higher the temperature of the solution the more contraction occurs within the
solutions. Another trend with the isopropanol water solutions is that the volume contraction over the
testing period, of 20 minutes, is that all the solutions at the different temperatures lost the same
volume. Discussion and Evaluation With the increased temperature, the isopropanol water solution
contracts faster than the lower temperature due to the fact that molecules move faster with increased
temperature. The hydrogen bonding between isopropanol and water is quite strong between the
solvents and within themselves. As a result of the compounds properties they rearrange to assume a
more efficient hydrogen bond between them, as the angles required for efficient hydrogen bonding are
not present; the bond angles change due to the repulsive force of free electrons within the compound.
The intermolecular forces that cause the molecules of ethanol, isopropanol, and water to rearrange and
contract primarily include dipole dipole interaction and hydrogen bonding. In terms of dipole dipole
interaction, the forces occur when polar molecules are

The Year Long Period Of Social Unrest
The four year long period of social unrest that unraveled unto the United States brought forth
increasing amounts of opposing opinions. Power struggles between the Northern and Southern states
gave those with strong ideas for example, John Wilkes Booth, the ideal situation to take action. The
sixteenth president of the United States of America and the leader of the Union during Civil War,
Abraham Lincoln, was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth, an actor pursuing the revival of the
confederacy and the total destruction of the Union.
Abraham Lincoln was known to be a hard working, driven man which led him into politics and
eventually presidency. Throughout his childhood, Lincoln had grown up in very rural areas and knew
of nothing other than frontier simplicity therefore, he experienced little interaction with others
(Lincoln World Biography par. 5). As a child, Lincoln experienced a great deal of death as well as his
family s frequent moves. The painful death of this mother, brother, and close family friends shaped
Lincoln into becoming a strong, mature, and respectful man. Due to his frequent moves, Lincoln
earned an opportunity to explore parts of the country he previously never even knew existed. At age
22 Lincoln left the agrarian lifestyle and traveled to New Orleans where he would volunteer for a
militia he would go on to successfully lead. (par. 4). While in New Orleans Lincoln would partake in

The Problem
Merriam Webster online dictionary defines democracy as a form of government in which the supreme
power is vested in the people and exercised by the people (www.merriam webster.com). But the one
big problem is that We the people are not exercising their supreme power to determine the U.S.

Data used for this term paper was obtained from Houghton Mifflin Company through the 1996 Voter s
Data Set found as part of the Crosstabs package. The dependent variable (rows) I chose to highlight
the 1996 U.S. presidential election voting pattern was the Final Voting Choice. The independent
variables (columns) I chose were personal traits such as education, income, age, religious affiliations,
race, and gender. The data made available by the Crosstabs program was compiled in a statistically
scientific way by a national survey of citizens before and after the 1996 election. The objective of this
research is to determine which of the personal traits of the electorate has a positive, negative, or an
indifferent impact on voter turnout. Therefore, I have made the following five assertions in the below
listed hypotheses:
Hypothesis 1: Voters with higher education (which generally results in higher household incomes) are
more likely to vote.
Hypothesis 2: Young voters are least likely to vote when compared with their older counterparts.
Hypothesis 3: Voters who have religious affiliations are more likely to vote.
Hypothesis 4: African Americans are less likely to vote than Caucasian Americans.
Hypothesis 5: There is no significant difference in the level of participation in an election by men and
women.

The Battle Within Bowe Bergdahl
The Battle Within Bowe Bergdahl
The second season of the podcast series, Serial, hosted by Sarah Koenig, an American Journalist,
focuses on a soldier named Bowe Bergdahl, who, at the age of 19, enlisted into the Coast Guard.
Bowe Bergdahl only lasted a couple weeks in training due to the fact that he was diagnosed with
situational anxiety. Without proper guidance, the Army did not look into Bergdahl s diagnosis.
Therefore, Bowe Bergdahl was able to re enlist into the army. Because the Army neglected to check
Bowe s medical history, Bowe caused a Dustwun in the middle of Afghanistan in 2009, and was later
captured by the Taliban. As a result, the Taliban established a trade with the United States. In
exchange for Bowe Bergdahl, the Taliban wanted five of their commanders who were held by the
United States in Guantanamo Bay. However, the Army could have prevented Bowe from being held
captive, if the military had checked Bowe s records. Therefore, the army was at fault for allowing a
mentally ill soldier to re enlist in the army.
According to a study constructed by JAMA Psychiatry, a medical journal published by the American
Medical Association, explained that one out of five soldiers, who have enlisted into the military have
suffered from a mental disorder (Hastings). With this statistic, there are doubts regarding the military s
assessments of the enlisted. Matthew Nock, a Harvard University psychologist, led a study on mental
disorders in the military, and concluded that

Dishonesty In The Importance Of Being Earnest Essay
Dishonesty hurts because it undermines the relationship, breaks trust and is the opposite of intimacy.
The novel, The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, is a hypocrisy comedy. Jack, the main
character, chose to live in a lie, and created a fake identity. The theme largely revolves around the
name Earnest meaning sincere, honest, and serious. The book shows the importance of being earnest
but has characters that do quite the opposite, mainly Jack. The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar
Wilde was mainly about a guy named Jack, who was discovered in a handbag in the cloakroom of the

They contradict themselves at every turn. For instance, Jacks best friend, Algernon, had also invented
another identity, Bunbury. This enabled him to escape his responsibilities and go to the country, like
Jack, and appear respectable. He was also the opposite of ernest when he took on Jack s second
identity, Earnest, just to meet Cecily. Therefore, the hypocrisy in that situation was that Jack was upset
over Algernon s deception in pretending to be someone else. Meanwhile, Jack was in fact doing the
same exact thing. Algernon also disliked the thought of marriage yet proposed to Cecily. Cecily and
Gwendolen were hypocrites for both desiring a man named Earnest, but not caring one bit for the
qualities that would entitle a man to such a name. Additionally, they both loved their significant others
just for the beauty of their name Earnest . Moreover, Lady Bracknell, Gwendolen s mother, was the
opposite of earnest when she turned down Jack as a candidate for a son in law, because he was
adopted. She judged him by what she thought was his wealth and family background, and not as a
person, or for his abilities, education,or loyalty. She became even more of a hypocrite when she found
out about Cecily s large amount of inheritance. She wanted to get Algernon to marry her and was the
opposite of earnest and only cared for money. She was a hypocrite when she judged Jack for coming

A calm and kind man at the front desk by the main entrance of the synagogue nodded and brightly said
Shabbat Shalom . I was hesitant and confused on how to answer, but I certainly continued my
salutation response in English and further explained the reason for my visit. After introducing myself
and indicating the reason of my visit, Warren Snaider, a friendly and very knowledgeable lay leader
and one of the synagogue ushers warmly welcomed everyone into the service immediately after
passing the main desk person. Mr. Snaider also repeated the same words Shabbat Shalom, each time
he did this, out of curiosity I inquired about the meaning of Shabbat Shalom, which he merely said; it
translates as happy or peaceful Shabbat. Mr. Snaider, as I preferred to call him that day, offered
everyone a prayer book called siddur to be used by all worshippers during the service. This book
contained most of the prayers that were used in service. A lay leader, Morris Paula, conducted the
proceeding and she was in charge of the service, while several leaders participated performing
different roles throughout the service. After everyone was accompanied to their seats, commencing the
service, Paula ordered the congregation to stand and sing a song from the hymnbook called Shalom
Aleichem (Peace Be upon You), which she said was to welcome and bless the Shabbat angels into the
service.

Some of us may suggest investing the pension into stock. But I believe more that most of us will say
No for such proposal because of its high risk. But don t worry, you are not alone.
In 1998, some NPC member had already give suggestions like this. The Prime Minister Zhu, he said
NO to this suggestions because of the high risk in stock. We must keep safety first. So such proposal is
killed at that time. If anyone who is interested in his speech, you could find out his idea in Mr.Zhu s
Speech Record .
In 2012, the same investing plan was proposed again, just like 14 years most people still reject or
doubt at such plan. But at this time, the government accepted the proposal and made a realistic
schedule for it because the situation of pension was worse than 14 years ago. In the government
schedule, they will invest 30% of pension insurance into stock and stock bond, the totally amount is
about 600 billion.
Do you feel scared with this plan? Obviously the answer is yes. Pls look at index of shanghai security
since 1990. We could find out that the annual return of stock is about 14%. This diagraph shows the
annual return of bond is about 3.5%. The difference between them is more than 10%. What is your

We can see the risk of return from stock is much better than bond. But why people still prefer to invest
the money in bond? Maybe it is because of the myopic loss aversion, people always try to check the

array of skills that can be obtained through continued professional development.
Growth within investment management can be achieved in various ways but starts with the
foundation. What is investment management and what is the foundation? Essentially, investment
management is a division of wealth management which refers to the buying, selling, and managing of
investments within a portfolio. The foundation is the necessities you need to buy and sell these
investments. To buy and sell you are required to obtain your series 7, 66, and state insurances licenses.
While these are not required to work in investment management industry they are required if you want
to grow within the industry. Most people start out as assistants or associates to investment managers or
financial consultants where these licenses are not required. However, to move up within the industry
these are the requirements. The series 7 is a general securities exam offered by The Financial Industry
Regulatory Authority (FINRA). The series 7 assess the competency of an entry level registered

The Role Of Islam In Turkey
Islam has been a dominant force throughout Turkish history. During the Ottoman Empire, Islam ruled
every part of the theocratic state, but after the demise of the empire, Turkey s rulers led the country
away from political Islam. The modern Turkish state has a strictly secular government, and Islam has
been relegated to the personal sphere. Although Turkey has experienced a rise in fundamentalism in

Increasing current funding for atomic structure would be a fantastic idea which could lead to
discoveries beyond our imagination. For instance, in the quantum mechanical model, the fact that it is

this to further our knowledge. This research could potentially result in terminating the use of

There is a difference in energy between the two lines because the electrons move from higher to lower
orbitals. The line within the visible spectrum is an electron that is moving from a 5th orbital to a 2nd
and the line within the Ultraviolet area is an electron moving from a 6th orbital to a 2nd, thus meaning
that the line within the visible spectrum gives off less energy when releasing light whereas the
ultraviolet spectrum gives off more energy.

Essay about Christendom and The Song of Roland
The Song of Roland is the oldest epic poem in French, written by an anonymous poet, composed in
between late eleven century to twelfth century. This epic poetry holds an important place in the history
of France and invention of Christendom. The Song of Roland is a cultural artifact that takes us to the
journey of Medieval Europe, when religion becomes an important element for the formation of proto
Europe. Religion plays a crucial role in The Song of Roland and becomes the reason of criticism.

were left there for two days without food or water in 98 degree weather while the truck made its way
to the Texas Arkansas border. There they were picked up by her cousin who placed them on a bus to
W. Palm Beach Fl where another cousin lived. Silvia must now pay back the $10,000 she owes her
cousin.
The mother indicated that the family was having great difficulty financially because, without papers,
Silvia and Jaime were having trouble finding jobs, and Silvia was afraid to apply for public assistance.
She had recently obtained a job as a housekeeper and nanny for a wealthy family with 3 young
children. The family, however, did not pay her each week as promised, and when they did pay her,
they sometimes paid less than the agreed amount. Sylvia was afraid to complain because she feared
the family might turn her in to the immigration authorities. She was searching for other work but had

Indian Imperialism Essay
Even though the british did many negative things in india imperialism was mostly positive because
modern technology was created in India, education increased and many new jobs were created all
during imperialism in India. The first positive point of imperialism in India is modern technology. One
huge part of modern technology in India is the new railways built by 1853 in India. This helped the
indians with transportation and trading all over India. They were now able to travel to different parts
of India since india is very big with out railways it would take a long time to travel to a different part
of india. Brand new telegraphs were created in India which meant that they could communicate faster
with other countrys or even states in india . Brand new telegraphs ... Show more content on

New jobs were created for example when the british men that got to india the indian work for them as
their servants. The india s also got jobs as laborers since new railways and bridges were built they
needed people that would do the work this was a huge advantage for the indians because railways and
bridges were built all over india and it took time for the railways and bridges to be built and anyone
would be able to work and built. New jobs were created which helped the economy in India and
people were not living in poverty with the new jobs created. Imperialism in India brought new jobs to
India which helped with the economy and less people were living in poverty due to all the new jobs
created which also brought money and people would not be starving because they don t have money
for food. Imperialism in India was more positive than negative because it brought modern technology,
education increased and new jobs in all over India were created this proves that imperialism in India
was much more positive than

Imal A Short Story
Sunlight streamed down on the desert surface as just under the sands, bruised knuckles punched
through the flimsy wooden top of a makeshift coffin. As the dirt poured into the closed space, the
unfortunate person inside packed the dirt towards her feet and the sides of the rectangular box. After
enough sand and dirt was freed, the woman sat forward and crawled up and out, using her upper body
strength to pull her out of her own sandy grave. As she stood up, blinking in the blaring heat, the
woman, Imala, gripped her shawl down to cover her dark skin from the sun. Her long dark hair was
pulled into a braid, easy for her cowboy hat to sit atop her head. Upon feeling the sun s heat on the top
of her head, she cursed in Apache.
Where s my hat? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an instant, Imala kicked a couple of long wooden boxes and many other supplies that were lying on
the floor out of the door to the room thrusting them out of the train. Sebastian whipped his head to
look, and in his distraction, Imala drew her revolver and shot the criminal in the leg. He cried out in
pain and she tackled both him and Sebastian out of the door, off the train. Forgotten in the fight, Eli
got up, appearing stunned and realized he now had to take the controls.
Meanwhile, the skirmish continued outside while the three figures rolled out onto the desert sands
with a thud. Imala was still outgunned, but now Eli could take the train back to Grace.
You ve really done it now, missy. The boss attempted to get up, but Sebastian decked her across the
face for him. He pulled out his gun and aimed it at her, but the criminal started shouting.
Wait, wait, wait! the boss cried out angrily as Sebastian paused. You see the shovel and box? Imala
and Sebastian glanced over to the pile of items Imala had kicked out of the moving train including
boxes and tools. I have an idea. Missy, pick up that shovel and start

Media Influence on Public Policy Essays
Policymaking is a political process which is affected by various social and economic factors
(Hofferbert, 1974) and media systems play an integral role in shaping the social context in which
policies are developed. Through the media, citizens learn how government policies will affect them,
and governments gain feedback on their policies and programs. Media systems act as the primary
channels between those who might want to influence policy and the policymakers controlling the
scope of political discourse and regulating the flow of information. Textbook policymaking follows an
orderly sequence where problems are identified, solutions devised, policies adopted, implemented, and
lastly evaluated (Mazamanian Sabatier, 1989). In reality, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This effect does not refer to the sole influence of CNN on policymaking, but rather on the power of
global media networks to determine political processes through selective coverage of certain issues.
This is particularly important, as most of the public rely on the media for access to foreign policy
information (Brown Vincent, 1995). Gilboa notes that: The [CNN] concept was initially suggested by
politicians and officials haunted by the Vietnam media myth, the confusion of the post Cold War era,
and the communications revolution. Despite evidence to the contrary (Hallin, 1986), many leaders still
believe that critical television coverage caused the American defeat in Vietnam. Since then, many have
viewed the media as an adversary to government policies in areas such as humanitarian intervention
and international negotiation. (Gilboa, 2005, p. 37)
To determine whether the media has the power to influence policymaking, Robinson (2000) devised
the policy media interaction model (See Table 1), using the theoretical framework of press state
relations in the United States outlined by Hallin (1986). This model was applied to a number of US
humanitarian interventions, which took place in the 1990s. The results showed, that critical reporting
by the media with a strong pro intervention frame had a strong role in shaping the US government
policies when policymakers were uncertain about their actions but a weak role when government

  • 2. How Does the Scarlet Letter Comment on Religion in... Religion is the name given to a relationship with God, and different groups of people have different Gods and belief systems (Terhart Schulze, 2008). Today there are 313 religions and denominations in the United States; from monotheists who believe in one God, to polytheists who believe in many Gods, to others who believe in no God, or a God as represented by animal spirits, alien groups, or psychoactive substances (ProCon.org, 2008). Christianity was the first religion that was brought to the world by European settlers and it became dominant religion of the United States throughout its history. Therefore this essay will describe how the characters, setting and themes in the Scarlet letter comment on the religion in America by exploring the scene of puritan morality, scaffold and through the interpretation of the Scarlet Letter A . According Puritan moral values, one is guilty of adultery if married man or woman had a sexual relationship with a person who is not their wife or husband. The situation becomes worse when women bear an illegitimate child and such behavior is considered as one of the sinful acts in the Puritan society. The protagonist and the bearer of the scarlet letter A signify that Hester Prynne is an adulterer. Hester was married to an elderly scholar, Roger Chillingworth who sent her ahead to America to live but never followed her. While waiting for him, she had an affair with a Puritan minister named Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, after which gave birth to Pearl. Hester giving birth to Pearl became an attention of that Puritan society and she was humiliated in the public where she showed her faults to the world without revealing the names of Pearl s father. Mr. Wilson said, Speak out the name! That, and thy repentance, may avail to take the scarlet letter off thy breast. Never! replied Hester Prynne. It is too deeply branded. Ye cannot take it off. And would that I might endure his agony, as well as mine! (Hawthorne, p 58). Unwillingness to reveal the name of Pearl s father by Hester shows the strength and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sacco also became involved in left wing politics and at one anarchist gathering met Bartolomeo Vanzetti, an Italian immigrant working as a fish peddler in Plymouth. Soon after the executions, Eugene Lyons published his book, The Life and Death of Sacco and Vanzetti. Fifty years later, on 23rd August, 1977, Michael Dukakis, the Governor of Massachusetts, issued a proclamation, effectively absolving the two men of the crime. • 4. The Next Phase Of Ending The Cold War Essay The Next Phase in Ending the Cold War The date is October 27, 1962, and it is a brisk fall day in Michigan. Normally, I could hear children playing outside of my office window but not today. Today, all that I can hear is wind passing through the city and the feeling of despair resonates throughout the populace. The blockade went up two days ago and I want to believe that it will be enough to subdue the U.S.S.R. forces but I am unsure if the blockade will hold. President Kennedy is entirely against using first strike measures because he does not want to enter another unnecessary war, however most citizens have lived in a state of panic and distress. The citizens believe that the strikes would be bad, but they would end the restlessness that can be felt even in the smallest of children. The biggest conversation politically is that President Kennedy is not fit to be president of the United States of America, due to his age and the recent failure, The Bay of Pigs . Conflict between Cuba, U.S.S.R, and the United States present two conclusions: These nations begin a nuclear war with few to none survivors or these nations do not participate in a nuclear war and everyone lives. I have been tasked with dealing with two scenarios: The first scenario is if we decided to strike Cuba, what does the day after look like. The second scenario is that if we wait and the United States is hit with a nuclear weapon from Cuba, what does October 28, 1962, look like for an average American. I ... In my 17 years of life, I have been exposed to many of my Rabbis, friend s parents and youth councilors getting drunk on religious occasions, especially on Purim. This has seemed to have an effect on my peers who not only get drunk on religious occasions but take every opportunity they can to have a drink. For long it has bothered me if there is a correlation between the adult s abuse of alcohol on Purim and the complacent attitude my friends have towards the seriousness of alcohol abuse. Purim is an annual Jewish festival which commemorates the savior of the Jewish people from the wicked decrees of the Secretary General of Persia, Haman, during the first exile. There are many commandments pertaining to the day, however, the focus for this research is the commandment found in the Talmud Bavli, tractate Megilla: a man is commanded to get drunk (on Purim) until he does not know the difference between cursed is Haman and blessed is Mordecai . • 9. Christianity In Beowulf Essay In the epic Beowulf, there were references to both paganism and Christianity. Many people are aware of Christianity, but some may find paganism more difficult to comprehend because they aren t completely aware of what it is. To clarify, paganism is a religion that was practiced during and after the Middle Ages when the monks orally performed epics, such as Beowulf. Pagans do not worship one God, but instead they worship several gods, often referred to as polytheism. Pagans also base their religion and practices off of nature, their cultural backgrounds, or their location. They believe that all natural objects own souls and that humans should live in harmony with nature as well. In Beowulf, we were introduced to a civilization that originally worshiped pagan gods but had recently converted to Christianity. However, we can clearly observe in section two of the epic that the poet(s) of the epic were not completely trustful of either religion. This causes me to interpret that the civilians during that time may have obtained mixed feelings about the varied religions. It also reveals that the civilians may have been curious ... According to Bevans the importance of this dialogue is that the contextual theology that rises is unique. Unfortunately, the constant threat of this model is that gospel and Tradition can be watered down and lose their prophetic nature. As consequence of being diluted and losing its identity, the gospel may also lose its transforming power. The Transcendental Model This model is the most difficult to understand. Because, though it seems very anthropological, it is contingent to an inner human experience. This model depends on affective and cognitive events. In other words, reality is not something external to be grasped, but it is within ourselves. However, though in the beginning this exercise seems to rely on a personal or individual activity, this model is highly communal. Thus, these transcendental events are generated through the person s interaction with the community. In this model, the closer the person is to his/her local culture the more prepare s/he will be to theologize. This model opens the way for what Schreiter calls the poet or local voices. According to Bevans, this model opens the exercise of theologizing to non professional theologians. Consequently, theology can be found in songs, art and other expressions. Arguably Adam Smith was one of the first economists to develop a sound theory of the classical free market in his piece The Wealth of Nations written in 1776. Much has changed since the 1700s across the world horizons. Things aren t as simplistic as we once thought they were. Some countries have gained exorbitant amounts of wealth, while others have withered away at the expense of the more privileged. So lies the question of whether or not we can compensate the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... More specifically, countries that focus on physical and human capital accumulation and improving their total factor productivity should continue to see sustained growth as long as they continue to innovate. Innovation and constant change is key in order to keep an economy growing. Information is one resource in this world that we could define as infinite. An economy with an infinite amount of supply in theory is an economy that will continue to grow. Ultimately, Helpman concludes that understanding institutions are the missing key to truly understanding growth economics. In this case we can take the United States, Argentina, South Africa, and South Korea, and compare specific variables such as investment in education to more accurately predict future growth. Further analyses of these countries using Helpman s models are done in the Data section below. Essentially, Elhanan Helpman argues that GDP is a far too simplistic tool used for measuring economic growth. Instead we should use a total factor productivity or TFP for short to measure an economy s strength. TFP takes into account confounding variables that make each country unique and would in most cases skew GDP. There are too many determinants in a country that factor into economic grow, and many more indirect determinants or exogenous factors that can sometimes skew measurements. Each country in the world is unique in every way imaginable. Helpman argues that new models ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Data Mining, Partition Based Clustering Abstract Nowadays, Popularity of Internet and wide improvement in enterprise information is leading to vast research in text and data mining, and information filtering. So, the cluster technology is becoming the core of text mining. Clustering is an important form of data mining. Clustering is a process of grouping similar sets of data into a group, called clusters. This paper comprises of text clustering algorithms, also analysis and comparison of the algorithms are done with respect to the applicable scope, the initial parameters , size of dataset, accuracy, dimensionality, cluster shape and noise sensitivity. Algorithms are classified as partitioned based clustering, hierarchical clustering, density based , self organizing maps and fuzzy clustering techniques. The brief idea of each clustering technique is mentioned in this paper. Keywords Clustering, Data mining, partition based clustering, hierarchical based clustering, density based clustering. I. INTRODUCTION Wide range of data is collected in different databases because of advanced techniques of data collection. The demand for grouping the valuable data and extracting only the useful information from data is increased. Clustering is the distribution of data into groups of identical objects which has similarity within the cluster and dissimilarity with the objects in the other groups [2]. Cluster analysis is the arrangement of a set of data into clusters of similar patterns [5]. Data within the same cluster are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

ATOM process includes both major and minor reviews to maintain the vigilance required when dealing with project risk. Major reviews are designed to occur at key points in the project to review the status of the risks and to evaluate the actions taken. Reviews evaluate the effectiveness of the risk plan and make changes to that plan to keep up with the changes in the risks. The major review is scheduled for major milestone points in the project, identified as part of the risk. management plan. The risk register should have all the current information about the risks when the review begins. In addition, the project manager will provide information with regards to the project status and the review point. The risks will be reviewed with regards to their status, changes in probability or impact, and the actions described for the risks. Any new risks will be assessed and actions will be identified. Because risk needs to be monitored throughout the project and not just at major points, our process would contain provisions for minor reviews too. Minor reviews are designed to fill the gap between the initial risk assessment and the major review and to be ongoing throughout the project. It carries out the reviews of the major review on a less detailed scale. After a review of both, an updated risk register is produced. Updates to the project plan to better manage potential risks may also be an outcome of the review. We will have risk review meetings also. • 31. Overview Of A Experiment On The Alcohol-Water Experiment Analysis The aim of the extended experimental investigation was to conduct an experiment, and observe whether it would support or oppose the hypothesis of: As the temperature is increased, then the volume of the Alcohol Water solution will contract accordingly, due to the input of thermal energy in the solution which will cause the hydrogen bonds to break and cause the volume of the alcohol water solution to contract. The experiments involved increasing the temperature of a 10 ml alcohol (5 ml Ethanol, 5 ml Isopropanol) and water (5ml) solution, and measuring the contraction of the solutions after a period of time. With both experiments, contraction was present with the alcohol (ethanol, isopropanol) and water solution. The first of the tests conducted was the contraction of the Isopropanol water solution. The 10 ml solution, consisting of 5ml Isopropanol and 5 ml water had total contractions between 0.3 and 0.4 ml during the selected testing time period. Initially, the solutions decreased by a total of 0.4 and 0.6 ml. The general trend with the initial contraction of the solutions is that the higher the temperature of the solution the more contraction occurs within the solutions. Another trend with the isopropanol water solutions is that the volume contraction over the testing period, of 20 minutes, is that all the solutions at the different temperatures lost the same volume. Discussion and Evaluation With the increased temperature, the isopropanol water solution contracts faster than the lower temperature due to the fact that molecules move faster with increased temperature. The hydrogen bonding between isopropanol and water is quite strong between the solvents and within themselves. As a result of the compounds properties they rearrange to assume a more efficient hydrogen bond between them, as the angles required for efficient hydrogen bonding are not present; the bond angles change due to the repulsive force of free electrons within the compound. The intermolecular forces that cause the molecules of ethanol, isopropanol, and water to rearrange and contract primarily include dipole dipole interaction and hydrogen bonding. In terms of dipole dipole interaction, the forces occur when polar molecules are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Battle Within Bowe Bergdahl The Battle Within Bowe Bergdahl The second season of the podcast series, Serial, hosted by Sarah Koenig, an American Journalist, focuses on a soldier named Bowe Bergdahl, who, at the age of 19, enlisted into the Coast Guard. Bowe Bergdahl only lasted a couple weeks in training due to the fact that he was diagnosed with situational anxiety. Without proper guidance, the Army did not look into Bergdahl s diagnosis. Therefore, Bowe Bergdahl was able to re enlist into the army. Because the Army neglected to check Bowe s medical history, Bowe caused a Dustwun in the middle of Afghanistan in 2009, and was later captured by the Taliban. As a result, the Taliban established a trade with the United States. In exchange for Bowe Bergdahl, the Taliban wanted five of their commanders who were held by the United States in Guantanamo Bay. However, the Army could have prevented Bowe from being held captive, if the military had checked Bowe s records. Therefore, the army was at fault for allowing a mentally ill soldier to re enlist in the army. According to a study constructed by JAMA Psychiatry, a medical journal published by the American Medical Association, explained that one out of five soldiers, who have enlisted into the military have suffered from a mental disorder (Hastings). As she stood up, blinking in the blaring heat, the woman, Imala, gripped her shawl down to cover her dark skin from the sun. Her long dark hair was pulled into a braid, easy for her cowboy hat to sit atop her head. Upon feeling the sun s heat on the top of her head, she cursed in Apache. Where s my hat? ... In an instant, Imala kicked a couple of long wooden boxes and many other supplies that were lying on the floor out of the door to the room thrusting them out of the train. Sebastian whipped his head to look, and in his distraction, Imala drew her revolver and shot the criminal in the leg. He cried out in pain and she tackled both him and Sebastian out of the door, off the train. Forgotten in the fight, Eli got up, appearing stunned and realized he now had to take the controls. Meanwhile, the skirmish continued outside while the three figures rolled out onto the desert sands with a thud. Imala was still outgunned, but now Eli could take the train back to Grace. You ve really done it now, missy. The boss attempted to get up, but Sebastian decked her across the face for him. He pulled out his gun and aimed it at her, but the criminal started shouting. Gilboa notes that: The [CNN] concept was initially suggested by politicians and officials haunted by the Vietnam media myth, the confusion of the post Cold War era, and the communications revolution. Despite evidence to the contrary (Hallin, 1986), many leaders still believe that critical television coverage caused the American defeat in Vietnam. Since then, many have viewed the media as an adversary to government policies in areas such as humanitarian intervention and international negotiation. (Gilboa, 2005, p. 37) To determine whether the media has the power to influence policymaking, Robinson (2000) devised the policy media interaction model (See Table 1), using the theoretical framework of press state relations in the United States outlined by Hallin (1986). This model was applied to a number of US humanitarian interventions, which took place in the 1990s. The results showed, that critical reporting by the media with a strong pro intervention frame had a strong role in shaping the US government policies when policymakers were uncertain about their actions but a weak role when government policies ...
