Cholera In The 18th Century
Summary The first Cholera epidemic in England appeared in October of 1831. Symptoms of Cholera
include dehydration, diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Soon the disease would take over the patient s
body and kill them. The second epidemic took place in 1848 through 1849 and killed almost 70,000
people throughout England and Wales. Doctors could not figure out the source of the illness or how to
cure it. The living conditions made this illness spread like wildfire. People were living in cramped
living areas and did not have proper sewage systems. Human waste was thrown into ditches and
alleyways. When the city would flood the sewage would flow into houses, marketplaces, streets, and
eventually made its way into streams and the Thames river. Doctor

Of Mice and Men-Friendship
Friendship Of Mice and Men Friendship is something that everyone needs at any time. Friendship
keeps us closely interacted with our friends, it keeps you popular, keeps you away from loneliness.
Friendship is an essential part of life to everyone. To me, I interact with my friends closely everyday,
we chat, we play around, and we work together on homework. For teenagers like us, we like to
interact with friends, with people at our age. Without friends, we won t be able to do anything. We
take care of each other, we tell each other everything, and sometimes they are more important than our
parents. Without a friend, every single one of us is by ourselves, no one cares about us, at the
meantime, we don t care about anyone. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ain t nobody goin to suppose no hurt to George. (Steinbeck, p72). As a contrast with George and
Lennie, Crooks, a black man never wants anyone to go into his room. He sets an invisible wall
between him and the rest of the world. He s like a prisoner, in a world with one person, himself. He
never talks to anyone; he never wants anyone to talk to him. He thinks that he s a black, no one would
want to talk to him. So he had his own room, and wanted everyone to keep away from his little room.
Although he seems like he doesn t want anyone to talk to him, but still at the deepest place of his
heart, he wants to talk to someone, he wants a friend. He cried in front of Lennie, he told all these
things in his heart that no one knows to Lennie, he knows Lennie won t understand so he won t go out
and blab about it. He just wants to relieve his feelings. Crooks wants a friend as well, everyone needs
a friend: a guy goes nuts if he ain t got nobody. Don t make no difference who the guy is, long he s
with you. I tell ya. (Steinbeck, p72). Everyone needs a friend, even the people who say they don t. To
George and Lennie, having a friend with them is really lucky, but their luckiness didn t last very long.
At the end of the book, George shot Lennie at the back of his head. That was one of George s two
choices: let Curley kill Lennie or kill Lennie by himself. Like a father, George thought it s his
responsibility to kill Lennie to payback the life of

John Coltrane
Intro to Music Masterworks
Final Paper
Jazz music was originally developed by African Americans during the start of the twentieth century.
Throughout the semester we have studied the timeline of musical periods including the Romantic and
Classical eras of music. Becoming internationally popular in the 1920 s, jazz music has been typically
described as America s Classical Music. The musical periods we have discussed in this course have
influenced and show a strong relation to jazz music and also jazz musicians. Among these musicians,
is John Coltrane, considered one of the greatest jazz saxophonists and composers of all time. He was
also one of the most important and influential musicians of the twentieth century. John ... Show more

This performance was perhaps the most memorable of his career. During this stage of his career he
released an individual album Blue Train recorded by Alfred Lion and Blue Note productions, which
was considered the powerhouse of this era in jazz. Blue Train was one of the most important and best
selling albums that Blue Note has ever released. In the late 50 s through the early 60 s, Coltrane was
welcomed back by Miles Davis and company since at this point he was drug free. Jazz critic Ira Gitler
invented the term sheets of sound expressing the one of a kind style of Coltrane s music during this era
with Davis. During this time they wrote sessions like Milestones and Kind Of Blue and also recorded
the hit single, So What which was recorded in 1959 with Coltrane soloing. Miles Davis and John
Coltrane put together amazing jazz that we appreciate today, but the audience at that present time were
very critical. For instance, their last show which was held in France resulted in them being booed off
the stage. Soon after the duo went their separate ways, John began playing soprano saxophone, an
unusual transition that was questioned by many people at the time. Rumor has it that he made the
switch because the mouthpiece of the tenor saxophone was causing severe

Homelessness Among The United States
Homelessness has always been growing across communities in the United States, and many struggle
from it as they are people who are lacking in funds, causing them to be without a home. Today,
homelessness among individuals is becoming more common and is unfortunately spreading all over
the world. Most home owning people are unaware of the actuality of the conditions that the homeless
people reside in and many cannot comprehend the troubles and hardships they face just to keep
themselves alive. Most homeless people are known to reside in abandoned buildings, buses, cars,
street corners and in many community parks. Most homeless people can barely afford to eat every day
and to survive many live on the scraps and leftovers from others. Homelessness is defined as someone
who cannot afford to pay for housing without depriving themselves of the essentials needed in life.
People who become homeless do not all necessarily live on streets, but many homeless people in our
modern society stay with friends, relatives and even in shelters as they cannot afford to live on their
own (Espejo 28).
The three kinds of homelessness that exist are, temporary homelessness, episodical/cynical
homelessness and chronic homelessness. A person who falls under the category of temporary
homelessness is typically a person or family that becomes homeless for a short period of time. Most
people are forced into temporary homelessness because of an unexpected and minor occurrence such
as the loss of a

Discrimination In To Kill A Mockingbird
INTERTEXTUAL STUDY
Compare the ways in which the authors of both texts explore the idea of racism
Racism has been a major problem in the world for hundreds of years and it has never been resolved
nor it will never be resolved.
Harper Lee s 1960 novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, and Joel Schumacher s 1996 film, A Time To Kill,
both share similarities in the way racism is explored throughout both texts.
Racial violence and discrimination are two major themes that are depicted within both texts, but the
most important theme overall is the acceptance between the two races which is shown in both texts.
To Kill A Mockingbird and A Time To Kill are two very similar texts that share the same plot and the
same meaning.
Both texts explore the idea if racism through the theme of racial violence.

Racial discrimination is the main type of discrimination throughout the novel when compared with
class or gender.
The primary example of discrimination in the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, is when Tom Robinson, a
black man is wrongly accused of rape and assault on Mayella, a white woman.
When in court with Attics, a white lawyer, defending Robinson, the blacks were to be seated on the
top level of the courtroom to show that they were not important and that their opinion doesn t matter.
Discrimination is also shown in the film, A Time To Kill, when, again, in the courtroom blacks were to
sit on the top level.
Not only is discrimination shown in the courtroom, but also in the town.
For example, the two races were living on different sides of the town, blacks were not allowed to
associate with whites let alone touch them or nearly look at them.
Lee and Schumacher provide evidence that shows discrimination as being a major theme used
throughout both texts.
Acceptance was an important theme shown in both

Back pockets are a safe place to put your car keys right? Until you forget they are there and they end
up dropping into the toilet! In the good old days this wouldn t matter because a car key was just a
piece of metal that could be wiped dry and put straight back into the pocket. But today s car keys are
called transponder keys, and they have little computer chips in them that just don t like floating in
water. So what do you do when you drop your keys in the loo? Do Try The Rice Bag Trick
Transponder keys have a black casing around the top of the key. This casing keeps small amounts of
water out such as rain drops, but it does not make your key waterproof. One of the first steps you can
try if your key is soaking wet is the rice bag technique. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After 24 hours most of the moisture will have been absorbed and you can try the key in your car. Don
t Try The Hair Dryer Trick You may be thinking that the best way to dry out your key is to apply heat
to it. Whether your mind has turned to your hair dryer or your microwave, both these dry out ideas are
bad ones. As previously stated, transponder keys have small computer chips in them, and this means
they also contain minute electronic circuitry for the key to work. Applying high doses of heat from a
hair dryer is going to fry the circuitry so it never works again. Additionally, putting metal in a
microwave is one way of starting a house fire so this is definitely not a good idea either. If your
transponder key refuses to work after the rice bag trick, or you don t have 24 hours to wait for it to dry
out, your next stop is your locksmith to get a replacement key made. Only a locksmith or an
automotive dealer can provide a coded replacement key for your car. While you re there, get a second
one made, or get them to attempt a professional dry of the original. Having a spare car key is not
going to got to waste if you want to continue carrying your car keys in your back

The Nature Of People s Beliefs
Philosophy allows people to study the nature of people s beliefs. Throughout history people s beliefs
have differed. At one time people may believe one idea and decades later people may completely
disagree with that idea. Not even the ideas of the law are exempt from this occurrence. Since the
spoken word, hundreds of philosophers have defined law in different ways. Seeing law in different
ways people can come to different conclusions about specific cases. The Fugitive Slave Law was a
controversial law in American history. The Fugitive Slave Law allowed slave owners to capture their
slaves who have fled North to free states. In United States v Morris, the emancipators challenged the

Philosophers such as Thomas Aquinas describes the Natural Law theory as a theory coming from the
eternal law which is God s law imprinted on us. People determine moral issues from what is right and
wrong. Aquinas did think the answers for the moral issues were clear; however, he still asserted that
sometimes it is hard for people to decipher what was right and wrong. Aquinas thinks laws come from
the conclusions made from basic human knowledge knowing right and wrong. The law of nature
derives from morality Aquinas would say that morality and justice are serve from the moral law and
justice, and is what morality requires of us (Aquinas). Morality requires us to act righteously. If a law
is not moral, thus it is not a law I don t see that you have explained why Aquinas thinks that. The
Fugitive Slave Law goes against the laws of nature. Humans have their own free will and the law of
nature does not permit one human to claim another human. People are not property and have their own
free will. Obviously, morality says people are not possessions. One cannot approach a person and say,
I own you. It is not morally justifiable. According to Aquinas, the Fugitive Slave Law is not a real law
because it does not follow morality. At the time of the Fugitive Slave Law, people knew slavery was
wrong; so, the jurors in Morris did conduct in the appropriate manner. As stated before, natural law
theory states a law requires morality. The jurors

P G S Pert Plus: A Pan European Product?
QUESTION 1
How attractive is the pan European market for Pert Plus in terms of demand potential? Competition?
Any cannibalization problems?
P G is an international supplier of consumer goods it is a global leader in health and beauty care
products, detergents, diapers and food . P G s presence in the hair care market in the U.S has been
strengthened by innovative technology BC 18 and the replacement of an old brand Pert with Pert Plus
a mild shampoo with a fully effective conditioner. P G decided to introduce BC 18 in Europe.

Brand choice? Should the BC 18 technology be introduced with a pan European name, or with local
brand names, or even with a mixture of both approaches? Research indicates in Europe there are large
price differences among hair care products. P G has decided that it should place the new shampoo in
the premium priced segment; this is done in order to keep up the image of the shampoo as a high
quality and innovative product. P G should charge premium price in each country to be sold for 4.99
DM for the 200 ml bottle and for 5.99 DM for the 250 ml bottle in all the countries which had had
been accepted during the consumer tests. The company cannot charge a price very few people can
afford, this will also not be profitable for the company.
P G is to become a leader in the European market of two in one hair products. The first year objective
is to attract new European customers from competing brands to shift to the use of shampoo to BC 18.
The aim is to exert a pull on the population in order to create a new market niche inside the shampoo
market and encourage the people to use the new BC 18. In effect BC 18 technology serves the core
need of washing hair and therefore it has to compete with the different national brands which are often
well established.
As I see, the BC 18 technology should be introduced with a mixture of both approaches with a pan
European name and local brand names. If we just introduce

Stereotypes In Dead Man
1 The new thing that Dead Man brought to the world of movies is mocking the work of others, the
whole aim of producing the movie is to make fun of the Hollywood movies that are always the same
in that they have happy endings, they always have famous actors and almost the same plot. Dead Man
shows that the western American movies always stereotype Indians by taking the Americans side, and
portraying them as heroes, we never see an Indian that is a victim or a hero in American movies,
Indians are always vicious. In Dead Man however, one of the heroes of the movie is an Indian man,
and the American pioneer is weaker than him. I believe The director named the Indian man Nobody ,
to show how Indians are nothing to the Americans. Another thing this movie mocks, is the way
American movies portray women. Women are always Objects of intercourse in Dead Man, for
example, the moment Blake meets the woman outside the Bar, she asks him to walk her home, in
order to sleep with him. The ending of the movie was very interesting in my opinion, one never sees
such ending in a Hollywood movie, where all the heroes die. I found Dead man very similar to the
works of an art movement called Dada movement. What the artists of this ... Show more content on

I believe one of the director s concerns is to deliver his message through his movies without confusing
his audience, or making them notice the complexity of the techniques and the abundance of the ideas

ability to be the navigator of the ship , in other words, his main concern is to always be the main

Civil War Reconstruction Essays
The period after the Civil War was a very difficult time in the United States history. This time was
known as the Reconstruction period and it was a very controversial time. There were many issues that
had to be addressed such as what to do with the free blacks in the south and how states would be
readmitted to the Union. This era saw the rise of the Radical Republicans. The government was going
through changes, southerners were going through changes, and blacks were going through changes.
Whites in the south were left without people to work their plantations. Slavery was indeed a very
important topic during this time. Many of the reconstruction plans that were proposed required states
to prohibit slavery in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Johnson s Plan had nothing to say about the rights of blacks after the war. Most Northern Democrats
favored Johnson s Plan. However Southerners were not so impressed. Many of the southern states
accepted Johnson s plan but some of them attacked the black rights issue. Some states would not ratify
the thirteenth amendment. None of the southern states would allow blacks to vote. In late 1865 the
southern states revised their slave codes into what became know as the black codes. This basically
stripped blacks of every right and justice that was due to them. Since Johnson s plan did not address
the rights and liberties of blacks, the southern states took it into their own hands to create their own
laws regarding blacks. When Congress met again they began to fight for the rights of blacks. They
responded to the black codes by passing the Civil Rights Act of 1866. President Johnson vetoed the
bill but Congress overruled his veto with a 2/3 majority vote. Congress view of President Johnson
began to deteriorate.
The Military Reconstruction Acts did not go over well with President Johnson. He vetoed the bill,
however the Radical Republicans passed it over Johnson s veto. These acts began in 1867 and began
what was known as Radical Reconstruction. Under this plan the south was divided into five districts.

The Book Thief Theme Essay
Heil Hitler. Behind this statement is a mirage of things. Floods of horrible picture of dying starving
Jews in concentration camps, Hitler at the helm at things, committing mass genocide. So how does
someone stop a powerhouse such as this? For Liesel, a small girl in Molching, stealing books is her
getaway. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is a unique book which puts Death into the narrator s
place. And when Death becomes a storyteller, telling the story of Liesel using three colors. Red.
White. Black. Death talks to readers about how Liesel steals books as a way to escape reality and
along the way learns about the horrible, tyrannical country that she calls home. But by putting Death
as the good guy we can look more into the details. It is with this different mindset that allows certain
themes to be more recognized. One prevailing theme that occurs frequently was one which readers
could see what common, regular citizens were experiencing in a Nazi controlled Germany instead of
from a surviving Jew s point of view. Then as if that wasn t distinctive enough, readers are able to look
through a small child s view and what she can do to oppose an oppressed country. One example of the
theme that was prevalent through the book was one of Liesel stealing books. Though it may seem
cowardly to steal books instead to ask or loan them, the use of the word steal makes it so that it seems
to be more behind the back of Germany. The quote, ...the act of stealing, it triggered the crux

My First Obsession Is Life
I have 10 obsessions in life. I m not sure if they will ever go away. But life would be no fun without
any obsessions.
My first obsession is life. I love life and what you can do with it. I love the way people laugh at a joke
or become afraid when watching a scary movie. It amazes me how children feel most safe in their
parents arms. And how you learn so much from how other people before you had lived their life. I
think this one of my obsessions because life can be taken away in a blink of an eye. You never know
when your time is up. So enjoying every second in my eyes is how you ll have the best life possible.
My second obsession is family. I have always loved how families looked in a magazine or on TV. I
love that parents will do anything to make sure their children are loved and safe. And that families do
things together and love each other no matter what. Parents that play outside with the kids and go to
games and concerts. When a child gets hurt, there is a parent there to pick them up. I think this is one
of my obsessions because my mom had me taken away when I was really young. I don t ever
remember her ever picking me up when I fell down or tucking me in at night and kissing me on the
forehead. For a while it was my grandma who did all this but then she got sick, and I had to live with a
family friend, and this is where I still live now. I have always wanted to know what it felt like to have
a happy family. A family that comes to your games because they

Effects of Alcohol on Coordination Essay examples
BIO103 Environmental Biology Effects of Alcohol on Human Coordination
Introduction:
Alcohol is known to produce many chronic abnormalities that are attributable to parietal lobe
dysfunction. The self becomes aware of the body being a distant object but it feels a strange
attachment feeling (Miller et al, 1991). Considerable laboratory research indicates that different levels
of alcohol consumption contributes to overall behavioural and cognitive functions and therefore the
reason for carrying out this study is to test the effects of alcohol on human coordination. According to
Allum et al (1998) Alcohol effects information received by brain receptors causing the working ones

Although this is the case, the investigation was poorly set out. Only one standard alcoholic drink was
consumed which, as shown in the data, isn t enough to lose coordination unless the subject had
extremely low tolerance to alcohol. Subjects were not discriminated by age gender and body weight
which would have shown different results if these points were discriminated against and would have
displayed a stronger correlation between the effects of alcohol on human coordination. The sample
was not large enough to show a strong enough correlation between alcohol and coordination in the
data therefore making the test inaccurate. Overall it seemed that as the subjects had more practice at
the game, the better they became.
In a past investigation carried out by Patel et al (2010), three groups of adults were assessed at 0.00%,
0.06% and 0.10% blood alcohol concentration to assess if alcohol affected body coordination.
Subjects were asked to rate their drunkenness on a scale from 1 to 10 for each group. Results had
shown that their score had no effect on body movement coordination patterns but those who consumed
a higher amount of alcohol experienced a more significant effect on their coordination due to blood
alcohol concentration. In this experiment, the groups showed a larger correlation between effects of
alcohol on human coordination and therefore more accurate

Evaluation Project Background Of Physical Education Essay
Evaluation Project Background
While the term physical literacy is gaining attention in the US as a goal for physical education (PE),
physical literacy (PL) has been used within physical education in other countries such as Europe,
Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The internationally accepted definition of PL is the motivation,
confidence, physical competence, knowledge and understanding to value and take responsibility for
engagement in physical activities for life (Whitehead, 2013). The conception of physical literacy in the
US derives from the need to address increasing rates of obesity in youth. Physical education
curriculum provides an indispensable opportunity in the establishment of physical literacy, however
the aim of PL is to move beyond specific proficiency in specific activities to inclusiveness of all
abilities and focuses on competencies in a variety of movements and environments.
In 2014, Society of Health and Physical Education (SHAPE) America released the National Standards
Grade Level Outcomes for K 12 Physical Education. One of the key changes to this third iteration of
the national standards was the incorporation of the term physical literacy based on the founding work
of Margret Whitehead (2001, 2007, and 2010). Based on Whitehead s model, SHAPE America
identified the following elements for developing PL in PE programs in the US (adapted from Roetert
MacDonald, 2015):
1. A positive attitude towards physical activity through having

Perfume Vs Chronicles Of A Death Foretold
When writing novels, most authors have a specific technique they prefer to use. Whether it be their
choice of words, the sentence structure, or even the order in which the story is told. Typically, novels
are read in chronological order, meaning that events take place in an order of sequence. As said before,
most authors have a preferred technique used in their writing. In this case, Gabriel Garcia Marquez,
author of Chronicles of a Death Foretold, uses a non chronological manner in his work. Meanwhile
author of Perfume, Patrick Suskind tells his story in a chronological order. Both of these techniques
affect the reader in two similar, but different ways. Starting off, the fictional novel Chronicles of a
Death Foretold does not relate events

The Life of Marie Curie Essay examples
I chose to do my project on Marie Curie, the woman who discovered radium and polonium. She was
born Mary Sklodowska on November 7, 1867 in Warsaw, Poland and died July 4, 1934 in Passy,
France at the age of 67. In 1895, Marie married a professor named Pierre Curie at the age of 26. She
was the first woman to complete a doctorate in France in MMMM at the age xxx. And in MMMMM,
Curie was also the first female professor at the Sorbonne. She was the first person to use the term
radioactivity , which is the term still used till this day. Marie Curie was born the youngest child of
five, to parents which were both teachers, Marie was driven to excel. A top student at her secondary
school, she could not attend an all men only university. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marie was fascinated with the work of Henri Becquerel the French physicist that discovered uranium
which emits rays weaker than the x rays found by Wilhelm Roentgen.
This is what led Curie to take Becquerel s work a few steps further and conduct her own experiments
on uranium rays. She discovered that the rays were constant no matter what form or condition of the
uranium. She theorized the rays came from the atomic structure. This idea was revolutionary and
created its own field in science, known as the atomic physics, this is when Marie coined the word
radioactivity to describe the phenomena. Even when they had their first daughter Irene in 1897 there
work did not slow. Pierre then stopped his own studies to help Marie with her new discovery of
radioactivity. In 1898 they discovered a new radioactive element. They named it polonium after Marie
s native country, Poland. They detected the presence of another radioactive element and called this
radium. In 1902 they had extracted pure radium to prove its existence as a unique chemical element.
Marie curie made history in 1903 when she became the first woman to get a Nobel Prize in physics.
With their prize winning the Curie s got an international reputation for their scientific efforts. With the
prize money they continued their research and went even further. The next year in 1904, they had their

Joey Bada Research Paper
Hip hop artist Joey Bada$$ once said, They say one man s trash is another man s treasure. No, one
man s clever, one knows no better. Joey couldn t be more right, when it comes to him saying those
words. This paper is about how I came to posses my Grandmother s old fur coat along with her
luggage bag and why I treasure them deeply. When I was about ten years old my Grandmother, on my
Mother s side, passed away. Over the years she had accumulated hundreds of collectable Barbies that
were meant to be passed down to me when she died, however not everyone was happy about that. At
ten years old I now lived with my Dad, who despised my Mother s side of the family, and there was no
way he was going to take me to get what was mine. My aunts and cousins ended up taking all of them

One day when I was home alone I ventured to the attic and found that not much remained. As I walked
around up there something caught my interest, it was an old luggage bag with my Grandmother s
name on the tag. It looked to be from the 1960 s or 70 s. I decided to open it up and found a gorgeous
white fur coat in a clear plastic bag. I quickly took it out of its bag and tried it on. I knew that I would
be the only person to fit it in the family because I am the only one that comes close to her height and
weight, which was 4 11 and 120 pounds. I was correct, it fit me like a glove and I couldn t have been
happier. I took the items down stairs I became some what furious at the fact these were the only things
left of hers and even madder at the fact I had completely nothing. When my mother got home I told
her, I have nothing of my Grandmother s because someone couldn t resist a fix. Tears started to puddle
in my eyes as i continued, I am leaving with this and I do not care who doesn t likes. My mom knew

Walt Whitman I Hear America Singing
People may dream of a perfect society where everyone is similar a utopia. People might believe
building a utopia is a grand idea because they won t have to worry about being bullied or

would be similar, and people probably won t be bullied or discriminated, but are the consequences of
fixing those proroblems going to be worth it. Absolutely not, imagine if there was only one kind of
culture/one kind of person, let s say everyone is German, that means when there is an opportunity to

One of the first to express the strenghting power of diversity was Walt Whitman in his poem I Hear
America singing . In his poem he writes, I hear America singing, the varied carols I hear...The
carpenter singing his... The mason singing his... The wood cutter s song... Each singing what belongs
to him or her and to none else... (Whitman). This shows how different kind of jobs or the people s jobs
have their own special song which creates the American song which is supposed to represent a song of
diversity. The diffrent types of jobs can be related to current day American immigrants because people
come from all over the world, bringing a variety of different beliefs, religions, cultures, styles, tastes
and that ... is the amazing thing about the united states, a country full of immigrants, made up of
immigrants can t identify, can t come up with a common identity based on a shared ethnicity or a
shared culture, or even a common language no, what binds America together is that we share a
common story... (Aslan). The fact that America shares a common story means that we find unity in
diversity (Aslan); therfore, people don t need to share things like ethnicity, culture, or even a common
language; they can become united based on the fact that they all share a common story of being
diffrent. Whether diversity is showing how diversity makes things better by allowing people to have
their own opinions that will build and it allows people to find unity in a common story. Proving that

The Value of a Liberal Education
In today s society we view education as many things, but among the many views and opinions of
education there are two major views we see that stand out, education is a right for all and education is
necessary only for finding a successful career. To be more exact, it is a college education that is or
should be available to all and is only necessary for securing a successful job. But before we even
begin to think about a job or whether we want to pursue our God given right to higher education we
must first start our journey at the bottom of the educational system. In our lives we all start our
journey through education in the same place, the bottom of the educational system. For some this can
mean something along the lines such as pre school, private tutoring, or home schooling. We eventually
work our way up going through kindergarten, elementary school, junior high, and then eventually high
school. After high school we are than left two choices, enter directly into the work force, or pursue a
higher education. Say we chose to pursue a higher education and go to college; we then have to make
another decision, do I want go directly into a certain profession and pursue a degree for that career, or
do I want expand my virtues and pursue a liberal education. For now, let us delve into the subject that
is a liberal education. The beginning of liberal education spans as far back as to the time of the great
Greek philosophers like Aristotle and Plato, as Chuck E. Taylor describes in

The Army As A Staff Sergeant
is that I feel I have reached a rank that is the culmination of my operational career. At this stage in the
Army as a Staff Sergeant, I continually fulfill duty positions that are above and beyond my pay grade
in both garrison and deployed environments, yet still remain competent on the tenets of my career
field. This is best exemplified in my recent deployment with 1st Special Forces Group in support of
Operation Inherent Resolve. As a Staff Sergeant, I served as the CJSOTF I Task Force
Counterintelligence Coordinating Authority, which is doctrinally a CW3 billet. I laid the foundation
for future SOCCENT Counterintelligence Operations in Iraq by creating Annex B to the CJSOTF I
Umbrella Concept, conducted liaison activities with CENTCOM Counterintelligence units in order to
establish proper Counterintelligence Investigation and Intelligence reporting structure, advised
Coalition Partners on Identity Intelligence Operations, as well as providing Counterintelligence Force
Protection updates. In addition, I established the Tactical Counterintelligence Operations Portal, which
allows all Counterintelligence Agents the ability to share Force Protection information across Iraq,
regardless of task organization. While many of these tasks are considered management or oversight in

My Life For Rebuilding 90 s Model Cars
My husband and I have a strong passion for rebuilding 90 s model cars such as civics, hatchbacks,
Acura s, Mitsubishi Eclipse s, Celica s, etc. We do two project cars a year, and have done so for the
past four years. We used to be able to find older vehicles that were still in good condition, the
upholstery was in good condition, and there wasn t much wrong mechanically. About two years ago
we started to notice the lack of maintenance and time people would actually put into their cars. From
experience, a car will not run if not properly taken care of and serviced in the correct time frame.
Normally when my husband and I get a vehicle we always start under the hood. First, check the oil.
Without oil, people run the risk of seizing and locking up the engine and then it becomes a lot more
expensive than just a few quarts of oil. Most people I have noticed, don t know how often to change
their oil. When using regular blend oil, it should be changed around every 3,500 miles. When
purchasing synthetic oil, which is used in most vehicles today drivers should change it around 7,000
miles. After checking the oil, we check the tire pressure to ensure the correct lbs. of pressure required
for the type of tires and vehicle we have. Other fluid levels to check include the coolant reservoir, anti
freeze levels, as well as transmission and brake fluid. Aside from fluids, when my husband would
perform a tune up on a vehicle new to us, he would also check the spark plugs and wires

Sustainable Construction Of Sustainable Building
Sustainable building
Introduction
As concerns of climate change and global warming rises, reducing the impact on environment and
human health have became the priorities to consider before the construction of buildings. Therefore,
the concept of sustainable building (also known as green building, green construction)was brought up,
aiming to create structures which is environmentally responsible and source efficient during its
lifespan. [1] Compared to conventional buildings, sustainable buildings are advantageous from many
aspects, such as durability, comfort, security, productivity and economy.
During the construction of sustainable building, the use of renewable energy can be a significant issue.
Compared to conventional energy, renewable energy can benefit from many aspects.
By utilization of renewable energy , more nature resources can be conserved and restored, such as
solar power, wind ,biomass, etc. The renewable generate much less or even no pollution to the nature
environment. For example, a solar powered air conditioning system generate no HCFCs, CFs released
by conventional air conditioning, causing depletion to ozone layer. Due to less energy consumed, the
operating cost can be reduced efficiently. Furthermore, occupant comfort and health will be improved
with a green and livable living/working place.
In next section, a building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) would be introduced systematically, which
make a good utilization of solar power in sustainable

Studying Stress among Law Enforcement Officers
In contemporary society, a police office is a bonded and warranted employee of a law enforcement
organization, be it a local, regional, or state police force; a federal law agency, or a more specific
correctional facility or other law enforcement organization. The specific reason society has law
enforcement is that groups of people living together do not always exist in harmony, and it is the job
of the police officer to maintain public order, prevent and detect criminal activity, apprehend
criminals, collect evidence, and see that the due process of law is followed within their given duty
range. Under the rubric of the Western democracies, the major role of the police force is to keep order
and discourage crime. Their organization is also asked to assist with emergency and disaster services,
emergency medical situations, and to assist citizens in need. The duties of a police officer vary so
dramatically, that the safety and internal culture of a police force differs from organization to
organization (e.g. a Police Office in a large metropolitan area like New York will have different duties
and dangers than a County Sheriff in a rural Oklahoma area) (Barlow, 2000).
Society has certain expectations of their law enforcement personnel, and that, combined with the legal
aspects and internal stress resulting from the constancy of danger and dealing with the underside of
society, supplies its own pressures to police officers. Officers are often in danger of infectious disease,

The Issue Of Independence From Britain
Once the Americans solved the issue of independence from Britain, they were immediately confronted
with another critical issue, what to do with slavery. On one hand, the South zealously supported
slavery and the expansion of it. The North, on the other hand, was very much against the survival and
expansion of slavery. The conflicting ideology created a problem in the new nation, through which
compromises did little to remedy. This gave rise to the development of sectionalism in the states.
Throughout the early development of the U.S., the main political crisis, slavery, along with a few other
minor crises were bandaged with compromises, but it was not until the Compromise of 1877 that the
crises were finally dealt with for good. Political divisions first came about when Secretary of the
Treasury Alexander Hamilton offered a financial plan in 1790 and 1791. Hamilton s immediate goals
were to establish the nation s financial stability, bring to the government s support the country s most
powerful financial interests, and encourage economic development. He had a long term goal of
making the U.S. a commercial and military power. Hamilton sought to achieve his goals by modeling
the U.S. after Great Britain. He also created a five part program. It consisted of creating credit
worthiness, creating national debt, a national bank, a tax on producers of whiskey, and the imposition
of a tariff and government subsidies to encourage the development of factories that could

The American President does not mince words (and one is lead to believe he lacks the capacity to do

of the telephone conversation, the viewer finds humor as the two bicker as playing children would: I
m sorry too, Dimitri. I m very sorry. All right! You re sorrier than I am! But I am sorry as well. I am as
sorry as you are, Dimitri. Don t say that you are more sorry than I am, because I am capable of being
just as sorry as you are. So we re both sorry, all right? Adding humor to this already silly monologue is
an American general s immature sparring with a Russian ambassador, which leads the President to
bark ironically You can t fight in here; this is the War Room!
Meanwhile, nearly out of fuel, the commissioned aircraft must carry out its orders sooner than
planned. Major Kong, the plane s pilot, after delivering a powerful speech on the importance of that
day s events and the heroism shown by his cohorts, makes final preparations for the dropping of the
bomb. Finding that the bomb door circuits are out of order, Kong retires to bottom of the aircraft for
emergency reparations. Kong straddles the warhead, splicing circuits and correcting the problem. He
then opens the bomb doors manually. He eyes the target below and realizes that a movement to
dismount the bomb would cause it to be dropped late, and thus miss its intended point of detonation.

While alluded to in their discussion of the model, the notion of performance or effectiveness is not
made explicit in the model. Description of 7 Ss Strategy: Strategy is the plan of action an organisation
prepares in response to, or anticipation of, changes in its external environment. Strategy is
differentiated by tactics or operational actions by its nature of being premeditated, well thought
through and often practically rehearsed. It deals with essentially three questions (as shown in figure
2): 1) where the organisation is at this moment in time, 2) where the organisation wants to be in a
particular length of time and 3) how to get there. Thus, strategy is designed to transform the firm from
the present position to the new position described by objectives, subject to constraints of the
capabilities or the potential (Ansoff, 1965). Structure: Business needs to be organised in a specific
form of shape that is generally referred to as organisational structure. Organisations are structured in a
variety of ways, dependent on their objectives and culture. The structure of the company often dictates
the way it operates and performs (Waterman et al., 1980). Traditionally, the businesses have been
structured in a hierarchical way with several divisions and departments, each responsible for a specific
task such as human resources management, production or marketing. Many layers of management

The Failure Of Risk Management
Hubbard is very contemptuous of much of the Risk Management practiced by organisations. Do you
agree with his comments and suggested methods of managing analysis of risks?
In The failure of risk management why it s broken and how to fix Hubbard has put a very good
argument regarding the failure of old risk management techniques. Hubbard has tried to show how the
risk management methodologies and techniques used currently by many organisation lack scientific
and mathematical approach towards risk management.
Hubbard has asked 3 basic questions in his book based on the several risk management methodologies
1. Do these risks management methods work?
2. Dose the organisation s using these methods know if these methods didn t work?
3. What are the consequences if they didn t work?
In my opinion Hubbard has put the very strong argument in his book, as many organisations have
adopted risk management systems. But the problem is, the systems are not backed up by measurable
scientific results and often can actually make things worse. After reading the text I don t think that
Hubbard is being contemptuous of the risk management practices but he is trying to identifying new
ways of better utilising these methods.
After reading the book we can see that Hubbard is a strong advocate of quantitative risk management
techniques such as Monty Carlo simulation. However, he believes that they are often used incorrectly.
Specifically,
1. They are often used without empirical data or validation

A few of his favorites are mirror shots, corpse point of view shot, and bird s eye POV shot. A few
examples of mirror shots in his films are in Inglorious Bastards there is a reflection of Soshanna in the

Django Unchained there is a mirror shot of Django when he kills the three wanted brothers. These
shots are used to reflect a character s intimate time alone or to give another point of view within a

of these shots are in Inglorious Bastards when Donny Donowitz and Lt. Aldo Raine are threatening

Critical Analysis Of Barn Burning
Kaitlyn Booth
Humanities
Dr. Davis
November 20, 2017
Barn Burning Critical Essay In William Faulkner s Barn Burning, the audience gets a glimpse of the
ongoing trouble between a son and his father. The son, Sarty, must decide what is best for himself
instead of standing up for his father s wrong choices. The father, Abner, is a jealous, unforgiving,
unapologetic, and disrespectful man. However, Sarty overcomes the negative actions and rises against
his family to do what it truly right. The theme of this story is that the right thing is to always stand up
for the right thing. Doing the right thing is proof of coming of age, and showing maturity. Since the
beginning, Sarty knew his father wasn t treating people fairly. Sarty states, Maybe he will feel it too.
Maybe it will even change him now from what maybe he couldn t help but be (Faulkner 20). The
quote is stated as Sarty and Abner make their way to the de Spain house. Sarty is hoping his father had
learned his lesson from ruining the rug and will do the right thing this time around. Abner never learns
his lesson and believes the men in the family should act like him. Proving this statement, Abner says,
You got to learn to stick to your own blood (Faulkner 42). Although Abner believes Sarty is following
in his footsteps, Sarty is more mature than he is and hates doing the things his father makes him do.
For example, Abner expects Sarty to lie about his testimony. Sarty states, He aims for me to lie ... And
I will have to do hit (Faulkner 57). Sarty is not the only one who knows his father is up to no good,
Major de Spain also sees it. Major de Spain explains, He aims for me to lie ... And I will have to do hit
(Faulkner 64). Although Major de Spain is not on Abner s side, Abner s family is. Sarty s brother tries
to stop Sarty from telling on Abner by yelling, Better tie him to the bedpost (Faulkner 74)! Again,
Sarty is very determined to do the right thing, and save Major de Spain s barn by commenting to his
own mother, Lemme go! ... I don t want to have to hit you (Faulkner 87)! At the end of the story, Sarty
eventually goes against his family and walks into the woods away from everyone. This is a huge
symbol because it demonstrates Sarty

which would be the democratic party in America, and the Jamaica Labor Party (JLP), which would be
the republican party. Then there are many unions that govern the politicians. They include: trade

A. Value of each individual compensation package

In order to forecast the value of the stock option package, determining the call price is initially. There
are two approaches to calculate the call price for each option, black scholes and binominal pricing. In
addition, the current stock price, exercise price, time of option, annualized interest rate, and the

C. Incentives
The stock option plans can create the appropriate incentives to either corporations or employees. For
the recipients, it can be regarded to tax reduction. By avoiding the income tax payments, stock option
would help the employees with high annualized income salaries by converting part of income to
capital gains. Furthermore, stock options are effective way to correlate performance and
compensation. In the other words, it implies that compensation would boost the individual
performance as well the overall performance of the firm. For the employees in high positions, the
compensation would encourage them to act in the best interest of company to foster company growths

creating incentive plans by the company. Generally, the stock option only benefits the executives with

  • 2. Cholera In The 18th Century Summary The first Cholera epidemic in England appeared in October of 1831. Symptoms of Cholera include dehydration, diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Soon the disease would take over the patient s body and kill them. The second epidemic took place in 1848 through 1849 and killed almost 70,000 people throughout England and Wales. Doctors could not figure out the source of the illness or how to cure it. The living conditions made this illness spread like wildfire. People were living in cramped living areas and did not have proper sewage systems. Human waste was thrown into ditches and alleyways. When the city would flood the sewage would flow into houses, marketplaces, streets, and eventually made its way into streams and the Thames river. Doctor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Of Mice and Men-Friendship Friendship Of Mice and Men Friendship is something that everyone needs at any time. Friendship keeps us closely interacted with our friends, it keeps you popular, keeps you away from loneliness. Friendship is an essential part of life to everyone. To me, I interact with my friends closely everyday, we chat, we play around, and we work together on homework. For teenagers like us, we like to interact with friends, with people at our age. Without friends, we won t be able to do anything. We take care of each other, we tell each other everything, and sometimes they are more important than our parents. Without a friend, every single one of us is by ourselves, no one cares about us, at the meantime, we don t care about anyone. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ain t nobody goin to suppose no hurt to George. (Steinbeck, p72). As a contrast with George and Lennie, Crooks, a black man never wants anyone to go into his room. He sets an invisible wall between him and the rest of the world. He s like a prisoner, in a world with one person, himself. He never talks to anyone; he never wants anyone to talk to him. He thinks that he s a black, no one would want to talk to him. So he had his own room, and wanted everyone to keep away from his little room. Although he seems like he doesn t want anyone to talk to him, but still at the deepest place of his heart, he wants to talk to someone, he wants a friend. He cried in front of Lennie, he told all these things in his heart that no one knows to Lennie, he knows Lennie won t understand so he won t go out and blab about it. He just wants to relieve his feelings. Crooks wants a friend as well, everyone needs a friend: a guy goes nuts if he ain t got nobody. Don t make no difference who the guy is, long he s with you. I tell ya. (Steinbeck, p72). Everyone needs a friend, even the people who say they don t. To George and Lennie, having a friend with them is really lucky, but their luckiness didn t last very long. At the end of the book, George shot Lennie at the back of his head. That was one of George s two choices: let Curley kill Lennie or kill Lennie by himself. Like a father, George thought it s his responsibility to kill Lennie to payback the life of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. John Coltrane Intro to Music Masterworks Final Paper Jazz music was originally developed by African Americans during the start of the twentieth century. Throughout the semester we have studied the timeline of musical periods including the Romantic and Classical eras of music. Becoming internationally popular in the 1920 s, jazz music has been typically described as America s Classical Music. The musical periods we have discussed in this course have influenced and show a strong relation to jazz music and also jazz musicians. Among these musicians, is John Coltrane, considered one of the greatest jazz saxophonists and composers of all time. He was also one of the most important and influential musicians of the twentieth century. John ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This performance was perhaps the most memorable of his career. During this stage of his career he released an individual album Blue Train recorded by Alfred Lion and Blue Note productions, which was considered the powerhouse of this era in jazz. Blue Train was one of the most important and best selling albums that Blue Note has ever released. In the late 50 s through the early 60 s, Coltrane was welcomed back by Miles Davis and company since at this point he was drug free. Jazz critic Ira Gitler invented the term sheets of sound expressing the one of a kind style of Coltrane s music during this era with Davis. During this time they wrote sessions like Milestones and Kind Of Blue and also recorded the hit single, So What which was recorded in 1959 with Coltrane soloing. Miles Davis and John Coltrane put together amazing jazz that we appreciate today, but the audience at that present time were very critical. For instance, their last show which was held in France resulted in them being booed off the stage. Soon after the duo went their separate ways, John began playing soprano saxophone, an unusual transition that was questioned by many people at the time. • 6. Homelessness Among The United States Homelessness has always been growing across communities in the United States, and many struggle from it as they are people who are lacking in funds, causing them to be without a home. Today, homelessness among individuals is becoming more common and is unfortunately spreading all over the world. Most home owning people are unaware of the actuality of the conditions that the homeless people reside in and many cannot comprehend the troubles and hardships they face just to keep themselves alive. Most homeless people are known to reside in abandoned buildings, buses, cars, street corners and in many community parks. Most homeless people can barely afford to eat every day and to survive many live on the scraps and leftovers from others. Homelessness is defined as someone who cannot afford to pay for housing without depriving themselves of the essentials needed in life. People who become homeless do not all necessarily live on streets, but many homeless people in our modern society stay with friends, relatives and even in shelters as they cannot afford to live on their own (Espejo 28). The three kinds of homelessness that exist are, temporary homelessness, episodical/cynical homelessness and chronic homelessness. A person who falls under the category of temporary homelessness is typically a person or family that becomes homeless for a short period of time. Most people are forced into temporary homelessness because of an unexpected and minor occurrence such as the loss of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Discrimination In To Kill A Mockingbird INTERTEXTUAL STUDY Compare the ways in which the authors of both texts explore the idea of racism Racism has been a major problem in the world for hundreds of years and it has never been resolved nor it will never be resolved. Harper Lee s 1960 novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, and Joel Schumacher s 1996 film, A Time To Kill, both share similarities in the way racism is explored throughout both texts. Racial violence and discrimination are two major themes that are depicted within both texts, but the most important theme overall is the acceptance between the two races which is shown in both texts. To Kill A Mockingbird and A Time To Kill are two very similar texts that share the same plot and the same meaning. Both texts explore the idea if racism through the theme of racial violence. Schumacher and Lee use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Racial discrimination is the main type of discrimination throughout the novel when compared with class or gender. The primary example of discrimination in the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, is when Tom Robinson, a black man is wrongly accused of rape and assault on Mayella, a white woman. When in court with Attics, a white lawyer, defending Robinson, the blacks were to be seated on the top level of the courtroom to show that they were not important and that their opinion doesn t matter. Discrimination is also shown in the film, A Time To Kill, when, again, in the courtroom blacks were to sit on the top level. Not only is discrimination shown in the courtroom, but also in the town. For example, the two races were living on different sides of the town, blacks were not allowed to associate with whites let alone touch them or nearly look at them. Lee and Schumacher provide evidence that shows discrimination as being a major theme used throughout both texts. Acceptance was an important theme shown in both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Black Caching Research Paper Back pockets are a safe place to put your car keys right? Until you forget they are there and they end up dropping into the toilet! In the good old days this wouldn t matter because a car key was just a piece of metal that could be wiped dry and put straight back into the pocket. But today s car keys are called transponder keys, and they have little computer chips in them that just don t like floating in water. So what do you do when you drop your keys in the loo? Do Try The Rice Bag Trick Transponder keys have a black casing around the top of the key. This casing keeps small amounts of water out such as rain drops, but it does not make your key waterproof. One of the first steps you can try if your key is soaking wet is the rice bag technique. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After 24 hours most of the moisture will have been absorbed and you can try the key in your car. Don t Try The Hair Dryer Trick You may be thinking that the best way to dry out your key is to apply heat to it. Whether your mind has turned to your hair dryer or your microwave, both these dry out ideas are bad ones. As previously stated, transponder keys have small computer chips in them, and this means they also contain minute electronic circuitry for the key to work. Applying high doses of heat from a hair dryer is going to fry the circuitry so it never works again. Additionally, putting metal in a microwave is one way of starting a house fire so this is definitely not a good idea either. If your transponder key refuses to work after the rice bag trick, or you don t have 24 hours to wait for it to dry out, your next stop is your locksmith to get a replacement key made. Only a locksmith or an automotive dealer can provide a coded replacement key for your car. While you re there, get a second one made, or get them to attempt a professional dry of the original. Having a spare car key is not going to got to waste if you want to continue carrying your car keys in your back ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Nature Of People s Beliefs Philosophy allows people to study the nature of people s beliefs. Throughout history people s beliefs have differed. At one time people may believe one idea and decades later people may completely disagree with that idea. Not even the ideas of the law are exempt from this occurrence. Since the spoken word, hundreds of philosophers have defined law in different ways. Seeing law in different ways people can come to different conclusions about specific cases. The Fugitive Slave Law was a controversial law in American history. The Fugitive Slave Law allowed slave owners to capture their slaves who have fled North to free states. Philosophers such as Thomas Aquinas describes the Natural Law theory as a theory coming from the eternal law which is God s law imprinted on us. People determine moral issues from what is right and wrong. Aquinas did think the answers for the moral issues were clear; however, he still asserted that sometimes it is hard for people to decipher what was right and wrong. Aquinas thinks laws come from the conclusions made from basic human knowledge knowing right and wrong. The law of nature derives from morality Aquinas would say that morality and justice are serve from the moral law and justice, and is what morality requires of us (Aquinas). Morality requires us to act righteously. If a law is not moral, thus it is not a law I don t see that you have explained why Aquinas thinks that. The Fugitive Slave Law goes against the laws of nature. Humans have their own free will and the law of nature does not permit one human to claim another human. People are not property and have their own free will. Obviously, morality says people are not possessions. One cannot approach a person and say, I own you. It is not morally justifiable. According to Aquinas, the Fugitive Slave Law is not a real law because it does not follow morality. At the time of the Fugitive Slave Law, people knew slavery was wrong; so, the jurors in Morris did conduct in the appropriate manner. As stated before, natural law theory states a law requires morality. The jurors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

P G should charge premium price in each country to be sold for 4.99 DM for the 200 ml bottle and for 5.99 DM for the 250 ml bottle in all the countries which had had been accepted during the consumer tests. The aim is to exert a pull on the population in order to create a new market niche inside the shampoo market and encourage the people to use the new BC 18. In effect BC 18 technology serves the core need of washing hair and therefore it has to compete with the different national brands which are often well established. Stereotypes In Dead Man 1 The new thing that Dead Man brought to the world of movies is mocking the work of others, the whole aim of producing the movie is to make fun of the Hollywood movies that are always the same in that they have happy endings, they always have famous actors and almost the same plot. Dead Man shows that the western American movies always stereotype Indians by taking the Americans side, and portraying them as heroes, we never see an Indian that is a victim or a hero in American movies, Indians are always vicious. In Dead Man however, one of the heroes of the movie is an Indian man, and the American pioneer is weaker than him. I believe The director named the Indian man Nobody , to show how Indians are nothing to the Americans. Another thing this movie mocks, is the way American movies portray women. Women are always Objects of intercourse in Dead Man, for example, the moment Blake meets the woman outside the Bar, she asks him to walk her home, in order to sleep with him. The ending of the movie was very interesting in my opinion, one never sees such ending in a Hollywood movie, where all the heroes die. Floods of horrible picture of dying starving Jews in concentration camps, Hitler at the helm at things, committing mass genocide. So how does someone stop a powerhouse such as this? For Liesel, a small girl in Molching, stealing books is her getaway. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is a unique book which puts Death into the narrator s place. And when Death becomes a storyteller, telling the story of Liesel using three colors. Red. White. Black. Death talks to readers about how Liesel steals books as a way to escape reality and along the way learns about the horrible, tyrannical country that she calls home. But by putting Death as the good guy we can look more into the details. It is with this different mindset that allows certain themes to be more recognized. One prevailing theme that occurs frequently was one which readers could see what common, regular citizens were experiencing in a Nazi controlled Germany instead of from a surviving Jew s point of view. Then as if that wasn t distinctive enough, readers are able to look through a small child s view and what she can do to oppose an oppressed country. One example of the theme that was prevalent through the book was one of Liesel stealing books. Though it may seem cowardly to steal books instead to ask or loan them, the use of the word steal makes it so that it seems to be more behind the back of Germany. Considerable laboratory research indicates that different levels of alcohol consumption contributes to overall behavioural and cognitive functions and therefore the reason for carrying out this study is to test the effects of alcohol on human coordination. • 17. Evaluation Project Background Of Physical Education Essay Evaluation Project Background While the term physical literacy is gaining attention in the US as a goal for physical education (PE), physical literacy (PL) has been used within physical education in other countries such as Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The internationally accepted definition of PL is the motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge and understanding to value and take responsibility for engagement in physical activities for life (Whitehead, 2013). The conception of physical literacy in the US derives from the need to address increasing rates of obesity in youth. Physical education curriculum provides an indispensable opportunity in the establishment of physical literacy, however the aim of PL is to move beyond specific proficiency in specific activities to inclusiveness of all abilities and focuses on competencies in a variety of movements and environments. In 2014, Society of Health and Physical Education (SHAPE) America released the National Standards Grade Level Outcomes for K 12 Physical Education. One of the key changes to this third iteration of the national standards was the incorporation of the term physical literacy based on the founding work of Margret Whitehead (2001, 2007, and 2010). Based on Whitehead s model, SHAPE America identified the following elements for developing PL in PE programs in the US (adapted from Roetert MacDonald, 2015): 1. Studying Stress among Law Enforcement Officers In contemporary society, a police office is a bonded and warranted employee of a law enforcement organization, be it a local, regional, or state police force; a federal law agency, or a more specific correctional facility or other law enforcement organization. The specific reason society has law enforcement is that groups of people living together do not always exist in harmony, and it is the job of the police officer to maintain public order, prevent and detect criminal activity, apprehend criminals, collect evidence, and see that the due process of law is followed within their given duty range. Under the rubric of the Western democracies, the major role of the police force is to keep order and discourage crime. Their organization is also asked to assist with emergency and disaster services, emergency medical situations, and to assist citizens in need. The duties of a police officer vary so dramatically, that the safety and internal culture of a police force differs from organization to organization (e.g. a Police Office in a large metropolitan area like New York will have different duties and dangers than a County Sheriff in a rural Oklahoma area) (Barlow, 2000). • 29. The Issue Of Independence From Britain Once the Americans solved the issue of independence from Britain, they were immediately confronted with another critical issue, what to do with slavery. On one hand, the South zealously supported slavery and the expansion of it. The North, on the other hand, was very much against the survival and expansion of slavery. The conflicting ideology created a problem in the new nation, through which compromises did little to remedy. This gave rise to the development of sectionalism in the states. Throughout the early development of the U.S., the main political crisis, slavery, along with a few other minor crises were bandaged with compromises, but it was not until the Compromise of 1877 that the crises were finally dealt with for good. Political divisions first came about when Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton offered a financial plan in 1790 and 1791. Hamilton s immediate goals were to establish the nation s financial stability, bring to the government s support the country s most powerful financial interests, and encourage economic development. The American President does not mince words (and one is lead to believe he lacks the capacity to do so) in telling Dimitri, the Russian leader, of the soon to be exploding bomb. Listening to only one side of the telephone conversation, the viewer finds humor as the two bicker as playing children would: I m sorry too, Dimitri. I m very sorry. All right! You re sorrier than I am! But I am sorry as well. I am as sorry as you are, Dimitri. Don t say that you are more sorry than I am, because I am capable of being just as sorry as you are. So we re both sorry, all right? Adding humor to this already silly monologue is an American general s immature sparring with a Russian ambassador, which leads the President to bark ironically You can t fight in here; this is the War Room! Meanwhile, nearly out of fuel, the commissioned aircraft must carry out its orders sooner than planned. Major Kong, the plane s pilot, after delivering a powerful speech on the importance of that day s events and the heroism shown by his cohorts, makes final preparations for the dropping of the bomb. Finding that the bomb door circuits are out of order, Kong retires to bottom of the aircraft for emergency reparations. Kong straddles the warhead, splicing circuits and correcting the problem. He then opens the bomb doors manually. He eyes the target below and realizes that a movement to dismount the bomb would cause it to be dropped late, and thus miss its intended point of detonation. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While alluded to in their discussion of the model, the notion of performance or effectiveness is not made explicit in the model. Description of 7 Ss Strategy: Strategy is the plan of action an organisation prepares in response to, or anticipation of, changes in its external environment. Strategy is differentiated by tactics or operational actions by its nature of being premeditated, well thought through and often practically rehearsed. It deals with essentially three questions (as shown in figure 2): 1) where the organisation is at this moment in time, 2) where the organisation wants to be in a particular length of time and 3) how to get there. Thus, strategy is designed to transform the firm from the present position to the new position described by objectives, subject to constraints of the capabilities or the potential (Ansoff, 1965). • 32. The Failure Of Risk Management Hubbard is very contemptuous of much of the Risk Management practiced by organisations. Do you agree with his comments and suggested methods of managing analysis of risks? In The failure of risk management why it s broken and how to fix Hubbard has put a very good argument regarding the failure of old risk management techniques. Hubbard has tried to show how the risk management methodologies and techniques used currently by many organisation lack scientific and mathematical approach towards risk management. Hubbard has asked 3 basic questions in his book based on the several risk management methodologies 1. Do these risks management methods work? 2. Dose the organisation s using these methods know if these methods didn t work? 3. What are the consequences if they didn t work? In my opinion Hubbard has put the very strong argument in his book, as many organisations have adopted risk management systems. But the problem is, the systems are not backed up by measurable scientific results and often can actually make things worse. After reading the text I don t think that Hubbard is being contemptuous of the risk management practices but he is trying to identifying new ways of better utilising these methods. After reading the book we can see that Hubbard is a strong advocate of quantitative risk management techniques such as Monty Carlo simulation. However, he believes that they are often used incorrectly. Specifically, 1. They are often used without empirical data or validation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Critical Analysis Of Barn Burning Kaitlyn Booth Humanities Dr. Davis November 20, 2017 Barn Burning Critical Essay In William Faulkner s Barn Burning, the audience gets a glimpse of the ongoing trouble between a son and his father. The son, Sarty, must decide what is best for himself instead of standing up for his father s wrong choices. The father, Abner, is a jealous, unforgiving, unapologetic, and disrespectful man. However, Sarty overcomes the negative actions and rises against his family to do what it truly right. The theme of this story is that the right thing is to always stand up for the right thing. Doing the right thing is proof of coming of age, and showing maturity. Since the beginning, Sarty knew his father wasn t treating people fairly. Sarty states, Maybe he will feel it too. Maybe it will even change him now from what maybe he couldn t help but be (Faulkner 20). The quote is stated as Sarty and Abner make their way to the de Spain house. Sarty is hoping his father had learned his lesson from ruining the rug and will do the right thing this time around. Abner never learns his lesson and believes the men in the family should act like him. Proving this statement, Abner says, You got to learn to stick to your own blood (Faulkner 42). Although Abner believes Sarty is following in his footsteps, Sarty is more mature than he is and hates doing the things his father makes him do. For example, Abner expects Sarty to lie about his testimony. Sarty states, He aims for me to lie ... And I will have to do hit (Faulkner 57). Sarty is not the only one who knows his father is up to no good, Major de Spain also sees it. Major de Spain explains, He aims for me to lie ... And I will have to do hit (Faulkner 64). Although Major de Spain is not on Abner s side, Abner s family is. Sarty s brother tries to stop Sarty from telling on Abner by yelling, Better tie him to the bedpost (Faulkner 74)! Again, Sarty is very determined to do the right thing, and save Major de Spain s barn by commenting to his own mother, Lemme go! ... I don t want to have to hit you (Faulkner 87)! At the end of the story, Sarty eventually goes against his family and walks into the woods away from everyone. This is a huge symbol because it demonstrates Sarty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
